Algunos de ustedes conocen mi familia y saben que mi esposa y yo hemos sido bendecidos con tres hermosos pequeños, dos niños y una niña.

Dicho por personas que los conocen, son buenos niños, latosos, como cualquier pequeño. Y la verdad es que son, hasta cierto punto, agradables hasta la hora de obedecer. Cuando se trata de obedecer, les cuesta trabajo. Mis dos hijos, no tenemos que ser muchos y hay que hablar a veces un poco fuerte con ellos, pero obedecen. Pero mi princesa es otra historia. Esa niña es con una voluntad que tiene propia que te asombra. A veces cuando le decimos o le digo yo algo en específico que no haga, como por ejemplo subir las escaleras o subirse a cualquier cosa, porque le encanta subirse a todo para no hacerse daño, parece que ella escucha, hija, por favor súbete para que te pueda dar yo un regalo. Hace todo lo contrario, mi hija. Y la verdad es que se sube, hace lo que ella quiere hacer y hay un punto donde ya no sabe qué hacer, ya no sabe cómo regresar, cómo bajarse. ¿Y a quién creen que llama? A papá. Papá, ayúdame, porque ya no sabe qué es lo que, cómo bajarse, cómo solucionar en dónde se metió. Y platicando con el Señor acerca de mis hijos, porque platico con Dios acerca de ellos, porque si hay alguien que los conoce mejor que yo, es Dios mismo. Yo le preguntaba, Señor, ¿por qué es ella así? Porque tú la ves y es un amor.

Esa niña es chiquita, delgadita. Está bonita mi hija, pero es tremenda. Y yo sentía como el Señor me hacía saber que si ella hace esas cosas es porque siente que tiene el control, que no le da miedo y va más allá. Ella siempre quiere ir más allá de lo que posiblemente se ha permitido. Y esto me recordó una frase que tal vez has escuchado, que yo he escuchado recurrentemente, que ninguna persona confía total y absolutamente en Dios hasta que no es completamente necesario. Y viendo en la palabra lo que hemos venido estudiando, hemos venido leyendo en la vida de Jacob, puedo ver cómo el Señor lleva a Jacob a un punto donde sucede algo que Jacob ya no puede solucionar. Hemos visto cómo Jacob durante toda su vida ha tratado de resolver las situaciones a su manera, buscando el camino para salir de donde se ha metido. Y Jacob, después de lo que vimos la semana pasada, de que llega a un acuerdo con su suegro de cómo solucionar ese conflicto nuevamente que tenía con él, sale de ahí y se va hacia una tierra, sigue su camino, hacia un lugar donde posiblemente se encontraría con su hermano, Esaú, quien tiempo atrás, años atrás, había jurado matarlo. Jacob goes to that place, goes to those lands, and as a good negotiator, as a good problem solver, he comes up with a plan. And he says, well, we are a lot of people, I have a lot of children, I have two wives, we are going to split everything we have in half, and one group is going to go to the left and the other to the right. And if my brother attacks a group, the other one runs away and tries to escape, so that he does not capture all the members of the family.

But it is not enough. So Jacob keeps thinking about how to make his brother not be so angry with him, because they remember what happened between the two of them, how Jacob deceived his father to give him the blessing that belonged to his brother. And his brother was angry with him, he was very upset. So he says, well, I'm going to send some of my servants to the front, to bring gifts, to bring animals, treasures maybe, valuable things. And he tells them very clearly, if they come to see my brother, he tells them that his servant Jacob has sent these gifts for him, that the Lord has blessed me, has prospered me, and now I send these gifts to him. He sends three or four groups to do that. And the question is that the servants do find his brother, and they come with Jacob. And he says, Jacob, what do you think? Indeed, we saw your brother. And what happened? He received the gifts. He says, well, he comes to see you with an army of 400 men. That was not very pleasant news for Jacob. Imagine this situation. Jacob, always trying to solve, puts a plan, executes the plan, finds his brother. And what is the response according to the plan that he had developed? The opposite of what he expected. His brother came to his meeting with 400 men. And he reaches a point, he is in a situation, Jacob, where the Lord has to deal with him. A situation in which Jacob had an image of how to solve this problem, but God was going to deal with him in a completely different way than perhaps Jacob had in mind. And we will go to the word of the Lord.

We will read this passage. We will read in Genesis chapter 32. We will read from verse 22 to 32. If you like, and if you do not like also, if you bring your word, the word of the Lord, if you bring your Bible, put it up. This is the word of God. And it is the greatest thing we can hear. The word of the Lord. Amen. Let's give the reading. The word of the Lord says so. During the night, Jacob got up and took his two wives and his two slave women and their eleven children and crossed the river Havoc with them. After taking them to the other shore, he made all the belongings pass. Then Jacob was left alone in the camp and a man came and fought with him until dawn. When the man saw that he would not win the fight, he touched Jacob's hip and displaced him. Then the man said to him, Let me go, for it is dawn. I will not let you go unless you bless me, said Jacob. What is your name? asked the man. Jacob answered him. Your name will no longer be Jacob, said the man. From now on you will be called Israel, because you have fought with God and with men and you have won. Please tell me what your name is, said Jacob. Why do you want to know my name? replied the man.

Then he blessed Jacob there. lugar, Peniel, que significa rostro de Dios, porque dijo, he visto a Dios cara a cara y sin embargo, conservo la vida. El sol salía cuando Jacob dejó Peniel y se fue cojeando debido a su cadera deslocada. Hasta el día de hoy, el pueblo de Israel no come del tendón que está cerca de la articulación de la cadera, debido a lo que ocurrió aquella noche cuando el hombre torció el tendón de la cadera de Jacob. Y vamos a ver este pasaje, lo vamos a estar estudiando desde tres ángulos o tres momentos que suceden ahí, que el Señor me mostró en su palabra. El primero es cómo Jacob es confrontado para quebrantar su autosuficiencia. Es herido para sanar su identidad y vemos cómo Dios está rompiendo su voluntad para convertirlo en instrumento de su propósito. Jacob es confrontado para quebrantar su autosuficiencia. Jacob toda la vida se ha pasado peleando desde el vientre de su madre. Dice que peleó con su hermano para ver quién salía primero y aún cuando salió primero su hermano, él iba agarrado de su talón. Tal vez no fue de una manera literal, sino que muy seguido salió. En seguida de que salió Esaú, también salió Jacob. Pelea con su padre, lo engaña. Pelea para recibir esa bendición. Pelea con su hermano por la primogenitura. Pelea con su suegro por sus esposas. Pelea con sus esposas y pelea consigo mismo con sus miedos y sus culpas. Imagínate lo que está pasando en esta situación. Él está a la orilla de un río, posiblemente ya está acostado porque dice de noche se levantó, con la preocupación de que viene su hermano. Pero no nada más esta sensación de que viene alguien a quitarle la vida porque para él esas eran las intenciones de su hermano. Pero piensan esto, es su hermano el que quiere quitarle la vida. Su hermano gemelo con quien convivió desde el primer día, con el que jugó desde el primer día que pudo hacerlo, que compartió tantas cosas con él. ¿Te imaginas esa sensación, esa angustia que tenía él? Por eso es que posiblemente no podía dormir. Yo recuerdo una ocasión por ayudar a un querido hermano y amigo a hacer un trámite. Nos estábamos metiendo en un problema tremendo de dinero y toda la noche ya estaba que acabamos de hacer. No podía dormir por esa situación. Ahora pensar que alguien viene a matarme, pero ese alguien es mi hermano. Y Jacob nuevamente tiene una idea como buen solucionador de problemas y dice voy a pasar a mi familia al río, al otro lado, tratar de ponerlos a salvo y mis bienes también porque me importan mis bienes. Jacob se queda solo, rodeado por la oscuridad. Posiblemente se escuchaba el río, algún grillo por ahí y de repente un hombre viene y lo ataca. Imagínate el susto que se metió Jacob en ese momento. Pudo haber pensado es un hombre de los

que vienen con mi hermano, es mi hermano mismo, es alguien queriéndome robar. ¿Y qué hace Jacob? Lo que siempre ha hecho, lo que toda su vida ha hecho, pelear y pelea con este hombre. Y lo interesante de esto es que no solamente que este hombre, que más adelante vemos que es Dios mismo el que está peleando con él, Dios no viene a confrontarlo a través de un sueño, una palabra, una situación digamos agradable, sino lo confronta físicamente, una pelea. Y dice la palabra que ellos pelearon durante la noche casi hasta que iba a amanecer. Y es bien interesante cómo Dios pelea con él físicamente, pero no solamente que Dios permite que esta pelea perdure por horas, por horas, mucho tiempo y cómo es posible, uno podría pensar cómo es posible que Dios tuvo que pelear tanto tiempo con este hombre, que Dios tiene la suficiencia de fuerza y el poder como para haberlo tumbado en el primer segundo, es más, ni siquiera tocarlo, con una sola palabra, caer al suelo. ¿Por qué Dios pelea y permite que esta pelea se prolongue durante mucho tiempo? Dios confronta a Jacob para llevarlo a un punto de rendición física y espiritual. Está confrontando su fortaleza, aquello que Jacob, en lo que Jacob confiaba. Y mira, en nuestra vida sucede también que el Señor, como vas a ver en tu palabra, permite luchas largas para exponer nuestra falsa fortaleza. Déjame decirlo de nuevo. Dios permite luchas largas para exponer nuestra falsa fortaleza. Hay luchas que no se acaban en un día, hermano. Una enfermedad que avanza lentamente. Ese miedo a la incertidumbre que reaparece una y otra vez por las noticias que escuchas a tu alrededor y que cada día están más cerca. Esa relación rota que no terminamos de solucionar o de sanar. Ese pecado con el que seguimos batallando una y otra vez y que en ocasiones decimos, Señor, ya no más. Te prometo que nunca más lo volveré a hacer. Y nos volteamos de decir esa promesa y estamos otra vez ahí. O una crisis económica que está pegando a tu familia, a tu negocio y que te preguntas, ¿Por qué, Señor? ¿Por qué no la cortas de tajo? Si yo estoy contigo, Señor. Si yo ahora te estoy siguiendo. Se recuerdan que Jacob dijo, ya no más será el dios de mi abuelo, el dios de mi padre. Ahora serás mi dios. Te conozco. Eres mi dios. He declarado que eres mi dios ahora.

Pero Dios ve necesario luchar con Jacob y mostrarle que esa fortaleza en la que él recargaba toda su confianza, no era suficiente para sostenerlo. Y ahí es donde el Señor lo lleva a un confrontamiento consigo mismo. Y dice la palabra que cuando este hombre vio que no podía ganar la batalla, Dios no podía ganar la batalla. Era Dios el que estaba peleando con él. ¿Sí o no? Y no podía ganarle a Jacob. Realmente lo que el Señor está hablándome ahí es que Jacob no se iba a rendir. Jacob iba a ir hasta las últimas consecuencias. Él no sabía rendirse. Él sabía confiar en su capacidad, en cómo solucionar los conflictos que venían. Aún sabiendo que lo que estaba haciendo posiblemente no sea correcto, como muchas veces me ha pasado a mí. No sé tu caso, pero muchas veces me ha pasado a mí, que confío mucho más en mi capacidad, en la forma de resolver las cosas, que en el Señor mismo. Y eso nos lleva al segundo, al segundo punto donde Jacob es herido para que su identidad pueda ser sanada. Dice que el hombre siente que no va a ganar la batalla y entonces toca su cadera y su cadera se desloca. No es un golpe fuerte, no es un golpe brusco, es un solo toque, casi casi tierno el toque. Y en ese momento Jacob siente cómo el Señor ha quebrantado esa fortaleza. in la que el depende, de la que el depende. Y ese es un punto crucial en esta historia porque en este momento Jacob no es que esté peleando con Dios para para que lo bendiga sino que Jacob está peleando con Dios para tener el control para poder someterlo y decir yo tengo el control no me vas a ganar por eso es que pelea tanto tiempo. Pero cuando es tocado por Dios deja de pelear para tener el control y empieza a pelear para que el señor tome el control de él. Deja de pelear y se empieza a aferrar a él. Cuando sucede esto le dice el hombre suéltame porque ya amanece y tengo que partir. Le dice no señor no te vas a ir hasta que me bendigas. Se aferró a él sintió quién era el que lo estaba tocando. Sintió la mano de aquel que con amor le había causado este dolor. Ahora no te vas a ir no te puedo dejar hasta que me bendigas. ¿Y qué hace el hombre? Le pregunta su nombre. ¿Cómo te llamas?

No es porque Dios no conociera el nombre de Jacob que Dios no necesita información. Dios busca confesión y le dice soy Jacob, soy el usurpador, soy el engañador, soy el que ha hecho artimañas para conseguir lo que quiere. Soy el que pelea con sus fuerzas. Ese soy yo y le dice el señor ya no más, ya no más serás ese. Ya no te llamarás así porque una vez déjame decirte esto hermano una vez que tú y yo tenemos una confrontación real, absoluta, frontal delante de Dios no podemos seguir siendo igual, no podemos seguir siendo los mismos. El Señor ha tocado a Jacob, ha confesado cuál era su condición, por qué era necesario que confesara. Mira lo que dice Robervios 28 13. Los que encubren sus pecados no prosperarán, pero si los confiesan y los abandonan recibirán misericordia. La confesión, si me permites esta expresión, abre la puerta de la misericordia. Cuando tú y yo reconocemos cuál es nuestra real situación. Jacob ya se decía seguidor de Dios, decía Dios es mi, ahora es mi Dios y vemos cómo su vida empieza a cambiar. Pero realmente todas las áreas de su vida no estaban sometidas a la voluntad de Dios y Dios quiere que nosotros nos rindamos total y absolutamente ante Él. Que dejemos de pelear, que nos demos cuenta que la situación en la que estamos viviendo es porque Dios nos ha llevado ahí. Yo no sé cuál sea la situación actual en tu vida mi hermano. Yo no sé si tú tienes una pelea que has llevado mucho tiempo y que no has podido ganar. Y que tú sabes que en la situación en la que estás tal vez no sea conforme a la voluntad de Dios, pero sigues ahí. El Señor quiere que nosotros nos rindamos total y absolutamente. ¿Por qué? ¿Por qué necesita el Señor que nos rindamos? Y vemos el punto 3. Dios está quebrantando la voluntad de Jacob para convertirlo en un instrumento de su propósito. Después de que pelea con el hombre y es bendecido dice que Jacob sale de ese lugar cojeando

con una marca visible pero también en el corazón. El Señor toca a Jacob, sale de ahí y su caminar nunca más volverá a ser el mismo. Nunca más. Antes de esto él se aferraba a su manera antigua de responder peleando hasta las últimas consecuencias. Después de esto se rinde al Señor y silencio. He walks in a completely different way, not only physically, but from the heart. Because now he goes and confronts his brother Esau, not with a challenging attitude or fear, but with humility, with the certainty that the Lord was ahead of him. And knowing that if God is for me, who is against me? He had that certainty. And it was visible to remind him of the moment in which the Lord touched his life and transformed him. And as a testimony to all those who saw him, and that is why he says, Even today he does not eat from that tendon because of what the Lord did that day. My brother, you and I have that testimony, that real transformation of our total and absolute surrender to the Lord, that people can see it, that even in the hardest moments, your confidence does not depend on your strength, your skills, or what you know. Because you can know the whole Bible, but not have a real encounter with the Lord. And the Lord wants us to surrender fully to him. Why? God is much more interested in transforming our lives and blessing us than ourselves. He wants to make us grow to reach that stature of the perfect man, says his word, which is Christ. Reflect the image of his Son, so that those who do not know him can come at his feet, to change your life and my life, and even change the conditions in which we live. Jacob goes out to meet his brother, and the answer was totally different. He thought he was coming to take his life, and when he finds him, he hugs him and says, You are my brother, I love you. Possibly the situation was going to be like this from the beginning, but Jacob's heart had already been transformed. And the way he acts before Saul is completely different. God speaking to his life. I'm going to ask you to close your eyes, brother, and stand up.

The story of Jacob is the story of all of us. At some point in our lives we have fought with God. We have trusted in our ability. We have trusted that I have declared that Christ is my Lord. And I have still been baptized, and I come to church every Sunday, which is excellent. But you have completely surrendered your heart to Christ. You have left all areas of your life in his hands. Look, my brother, your life and my life are like a mirror. The Lord says that we are light to the nations. And not that the light emanates from us, but that we reflect the light of God for the world. But many times that mirror is stained. It has something that has not been removed. And it needs a stronger work, to carve it a little harder. And if the mirror could complain, it would complain. I would say, that hurts me. But I know that the result of this that I am going through is to be able to reflect more the image of the one who gave his life for me on the cross of Calvary. Do you want this? Do you want the Lord to be reflected in all areas of your life? It is necessary that we surrender ourselves totally and absolutely to him.
