Living In The Resurrection By: Dr. Pete Norris
Today on power in the word so I can't be full of sin or he couldn't resurrect me So what what happened everybody in the world was declared righteous so he could get up Why because death had been conquered and sin no longer existed Come on guys Jesus set us free through death and he died a death and sin was removed. You're not a sinner saved by grace You're the righteous of God standing in a heavenly dimension and a heavenly realm. You're not trying to get there He puts you there and you're seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus Welcome to power in the word two significant events exists for Christian believers the cross and the resurrection of Jesus Today, dr. Nara shows us in the Word of God that the resurrection is the pivotal point of our Christian faith It applies not only to our future but more importantly to the way we live out our lives here on earth It's a powerful word. Stay with us and be encouraged. We want to talk about something today How many of you know in two weeks this Easter right and what happened at Easter? The resurrection and that's what we're going to talk about today is living in the resurrection Not waiting for the resurrection but living in the resurrection. How many of you know you're living in the resurrection? What was it Philippians 3 and 10 said Paul said in the Amplified? He said I'm progressively determined to know him and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his suffering conformal We're even unto death. So after 25 years of ministry, that's what Paul said Paul has seen the blind see he'd seen the lame walk. He had seen people be baptized with the Holy Spirit He's seen all kinds of wonderful things, but he said I want to know the power of the resurrection now I want you to listen to me really good today because I want to make sure you understand what it means to live in the Resurrection now most people believe that Jesus died for our sins and I'm totally with you there But if you were here Wednesday night, we did a teaching on what part of Jesus died for your sins The soul is man the Suki part the soulish man of you died for sins because the Bible said it bruised him now I want you to understand something in John chapter 10. It says this plain and this is gonna help us understand He said I can lay down my life and have the opportunity to take it back up and the authority to take it back up Now the word lay down life there is the word Suki But he was gonna let his spirit go to the father and three days later the spirit that he let go to the father Was gonna come back and resurrect what hadn't been laid down See, that's the power of the Holy Spirit That's what's living inside of you today
The same power that resurrected Christ out of the tomb is the resurrection power that's living inside me and you we got to understand man He didn't listen if he just died for your sins You'd have your sins But you wouldn't be walking the power and authority and you wouldn't had the person of the Holy Spirit living inside of you He done more than die for your sins Amen, he changed your nature. You had a sin nature and he gave you a divine nature, right? So let's let's start let's get going with 2nd Corinthians chapter 7 verse 1 Living in the resurrection therefore having these promises beloved Let us cleanse ourself from all filthiness of the flesh and the spirit Perfecting holiness in the fear of God look at verse 2 Open your hearts to us. Now. This is Paul talking to Corinthian Church How many of you know Paul didn't do everything perfect? But here's what Paul said we have wronged. No one we have corrupted. No one we have cheated. No one Go to Acts chapter 8 now Saul was was consenting to his death How many of you know that Saul give the word to kill Stephen? How many of you know that well, let's go on at the time a great persecution arose from the church Jerusalem and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judah and Samaria except the Apostles verse 2 Devout men carried Stephen to his barrel and made great limitations over him verse 3 As for Saul, he made havoc of the church entering every house dragging off men and women committing them to prison Now here's Paul in 2nd Corinthians, and I ain't wrong nobody do But the Bible said he drove him off went in her house drug him out and drug him to prison Matter of fact, he give the word to kill Stephen, but he's wrong. Nobody ain't cheated. Anybody hadn't done anything wrong And you're sitting around missing it every 13 seconds Because you don't understand the resurrection Now you got you'll have to listen to me really good There was no create new creation. No one was born again into the day of Pentecost, right? Isn't faith in Jesus the means of salvation? Do we agree with that? Yes, right, but it is faith in the resurrection Sin hailed us in death Now think about it a minute Jesus died on the cross
He said I commend my spirit He let his spirit go to the floor Father. He said in John 10, I believe it's verse 18, that I have the power to lay my life down, my psuchi, not my spirit, and I have also the power to take it back up. Why? Because I have a command from the Father. So he said, I command my spirit. His spirit left his body. They put his body in the tomb as in death, because he took all sin. Sin, the result of sin, was death. So they put his body in the tomb, and on the third day, the spirit that he let go, come back and resurrected that body up. Now think about it. You and I have that same spirit of resurrection living on the inside of us. And we're concerned about stuff. We're tore up about stuff. We make crazy statements at times. Your checkbook is relating to your resurrection. Your health is based on the resurrection. The Bible said you grow in truth and knowledge based on the knowledge of Christ. So grace and truth in our life is increased based on the amount of knowledge we have. See, you wouldn't be crying out for God to forgive you every 13 seconds if you understood the resurrection. That's why Paul considered the great Corinthian people and said, I've wronged nobody. I ain't done anything wrong. I ain't cheated anybody. I ain't never done anything wrong, because he understood who he was in Christ. So he was living in that resurrecting power, not in his ability to perform. See, when you see God based on your performance, you're never going to see the fullness of Christ. Because you will never identify you until he's identified in you. Because to identify you, you've got to first know him because you were chosen to him before the foundation of the world. Are you with me? Now hold on. So sin held us in death. When Christ was resurrected out of death, you were freed from sin. Correct? We had been born of God and were sons of God. Now go to Romans chapter 5 verse 21. And as sin reigned in death, how many of you know when Adam fell, his sin brought death. There was no death prior to that. You remember what Jesus told Peter? He said, Peter, who did they say that I am, buddy? He didn't say buddy anymore. He said, some of them say you're Elijah, some of them say you're a prophet, some of them say you're John the Baptist. But who do you say that I am, Peter? Now listen to this. He said, you're the Christ. And then what did Jesus say? He said, flesh and blood has not revealed that to you, but my Father which is in heaven. And I'm going to build
my church on this revelation and the gates of hell. Now that's not talking about burning flames. The word for hell there is the word death. In other words, Peter, that's what's going to make me the Christ is the resurrection. See, you've got to understand something. Jesus left the earth but Christ never has. Because he's inside me and you. And so he told Peter, he said, flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but the gates of hell, the grave will not stop this from happening because on the third day I'm coming up. So Peter didn't understand what was happening. But he had to understand the identity. That's why the Bible said that he called him the Christ. Now he was not the Christ until after the resurrection. Now what's this? So that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Now go to Romans 5 and 12. Romans 5 and 12. You need to read Romans. Man, Romans is good. Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world. Between who? Adam, right? And death through sin. In other words, death was not on the earth until sin came. And thus death spread to how many people? Now watch this, guys. Now watch this. I want you to listen to me really good. So the Bible said that death spread to how many people? Because all sinned. I didn't do it. I was born into it. And then I was born again out of it. So listen to me. You got to listen to me. You were born into sin because of Adam. If you go study the revelation under the old covenant, they carried people's body city to city to city to city. And if you go study the text, the Bible said that Adam was buried underneath where Jesus was crucified. The Bible said the earth split the ground and the blood fell through the cracks. Why? Because the only person Jesus had to deliver was Adam and then everybody else was delivered. And listen to me now. If everybody was made sinners because of the death of the first Adam, then everybody was made righteous by the resurrection of the second Adam. The Bible said in first Corinthians 15 and 22, all died in Adam, all was made alive in Christ. Now watch this, Romans 5 and 19 says, because of the disobedience of one man, the many are made sinners. Because of the obedience of one man, the many are made righteous. Now, I'm gonna make a statement you need to swallow real deep. In God's eyes, everybody's born again, they just haven't discovered it yet.
And my new responsibility is not to have campaigns to get people saved, but to tell people who they already are. Because Jesus didn't do campaigns like we do. He never had one meeting that said, anybody in here want to be born again? Matter of fact, he never told anybody the Jews to be born again. Now stay with me, because I want to shake your religious... Turn to somebody and say, you're going to shake their religion off of me. Let's go to Romans 6 and 23. Go to Romans 6 and 23. For the wages of sin is what? Haven't you ever heard that? Oh, everybody's a sinner, man. The wages of sin is death. We're no longer under that. Because the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and the law of death. Now watch this, for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ, our Lord. Now, the result of sin is death. We all agree, right? Jesus conquered death and sin was removed. Oh, church, you've got to listen to me. If Jesus conquered death, then sin was removed. Because the reason, the purpose of death was sin. When there was no sin, there was no death. Once he removed death, sin no longer existed. Think about it. And so we've preached a message to people that you need to change every day. You need to repent every day. You need to get it right every day. I've looked it up in the Latin, the Greek, the Hebrew, and Arabic, and the word repent does not mean do a 180. It means change the way that you think. And if I, you're, listen to me, you're repenting right now because I'm changing the way you think. Say amen, somebody. Let's go to Romans 8 and 2. We're going to see this in the scripture. For the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has done what? Now, it's made me free from what? From the law of sin and death. Now, Galatians 3 and 13 said, He's redeemed us from the curse of the law, for he that hanged upon a tree took the curse for us. So how many of you know that the law of Spirit of life
in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death? So sin and death no longer has any step of it. So when Jesus conquered death, he conquered sin because death reigned because of sin. So Jesus, listen to me very carefully, he conquered death and sin was automatically removed. And he suffered the persecution of sin. The Bible said he was bruised in his psuchi, soulish man. That's why in the Garden of Gethsemane, blood penetrated the night before because Levitical priest in Leviticus 17, 11 said this, that he make an atonement for the souls of men. That was a Levitical prophecy. It had to come to pass in Jesus. So he died for the soul. Why? Because in the Genesis, when Adam sinned, he lost his mind. And the Bible tells me and you in 1 Corinthians 2 and 16 that we have the mind of Christ. Now, think about it just a minute. Romans 12 and 1 says, be ye not conformed to this world, be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind. Now, think about it a minute. If I renew a magazine's description, that means I already had it before. So if I renew my mind, that means I had a perfect mind at one time. But when Adam lost his, I got everything that Adam gave me. But when Jesus come, I got everything that Jesus gave. That's why he gave us the Holy Spirit to teach us the things that he brought to our attention before the foundation of the world, the things that he said before we ever got here, that he spoke to us. And the Holy Spirit is here now to teach us all those things. He said to teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance that I've said unto you. When? In the past, before you ever got here. We are some kind of something in Jesus, man. We're some kind of something. If we understood what the Holy Spirit's for, the Holy Spirit's not here so I'll speak in tongues and be more spiritual in everybody. The Holy Spirit's to teach me all things and bring all things to my remembrance that he said unto you. If you go down two scriptures, he says, because you were with me in the beginning. Glory be to God. Look at Romans 10 and 9. This is the Roman road to repentance,
everybody says. If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead. It does not say anywhere that God, that he died on the cross. It said, if we'll believe that he raised him from the dead, that we shall be what? Saved. So-so. Preserved, made whole, complete. You remember the woman that would issue a blood? And the Bible said she'd come up to Jesus, she said, if I can touch the hem of his garment, I know I'll be made whole. Think about it a minute. Now, think about it. about it. It says made whole. It didn't say healed. She got back everything she lost. All the money she spent in the last 12 years, she got it all back. Because when Jesus makes you whole, he makes you whole and gives you everything you lost. You're not lacking anything. The only thing you're lacking is knowledge to get what you're believing for. That went over good. Let's go to 1 John chapter 5. 1 John chapter 5. Whoever believes that Jesus is the what? Is born of God. Now wait a minute. What did Peter say? Peter said I believe he's the Christ, right? So was Peter saved before Jesus died and resurrected? If he believed he was the Christ, he was already born again, right? So if he was already born again, when did you start believing? And everyone who loves him, who begot, also loves him who is begotten of him. Now think about it just a minute. I want you to go to 1 Corinthians chapter 15 verse 17. And if Christ is not risen, then your faith is worthless. You're still in your sins. If Christ is not risen, not Jesus. See, you got to understand that there's a difference in the doctrine of Christ and the doctrine of Jesus. So if Christ is not risen, that's not Jesus' last name. That's the anointed and his anointing. It's the Greek word for smeared. In other words, that's what anointing is, to be smeared and to be saturated. The Bible said the Holy Spirit is going to come in you and it's going to come upon you. The word upon you in the actual Greek is epa. It rested upon people before, but it never lived in people before. And now the very person that resurrected, he had to die in sin so that that spirit could be inside of us. It was a great exchange that took place on the cross. He died and took our sin and we resurrected and took his righteousness. Man. Guys, we're absolutely in another dimension that we have no idea we're in. Let's go to Romans 4 and 25 in the American Classic. Look at this. Who was betrayed and put to death because
of our misdeeds and was raised to secure our justification, our acquittal, making our account balanced and absorbing us from all guilt before God. Now listen to me very carefully and I want you to get this. This scripture has been taken completely out of context because people don't understand it. Jesus went to the cross on the count of our offenses. He resurrected on the count of our righteousness. Now, if there had been one sin left in the world, then Jesus couldn't have resurrected. So I can't be full of sin or he couldn't have risen. So what happened? Everybody in the world was declared righteous so he could get up. Why? Because death had been conquered and sin no longer existed. Come on guys. Jesus set us free through death. And he died a death and sin was removed. You're not a sinner saved by grace. You're the righteousness of God standing in a heavenly dimension and a heavenly realm. You're not trying to get there. He puts you there and you're seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. My goodness, I do reckon. Let's go to Acts chapter 2 verse 36. Therefore, let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus whom you crucified both Lord and Christ. Now think about it. This is after the resurrection. Both Lord and what? He didn't say he's Jesus. He said he made this Jesus whom you crucified both Lord and Christ. Now think about it a minute. Let's go to 2 John 1 and 9. Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. Now watch this. Peter said you're the Christ. He was not the Christ yet because he hadn't resurrected. But if you know the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus had the power to go all the way back according to Hebrew and get Adam in the beginning. So the power of the Holy Spirit. Now listen to me very carefully. The death of Jesus went forward in God to everybody, went backwards in God to everybody, and pulled everybody together in Christ. My goodness. My goodness. Look at this. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. Now look at verse 10. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house or don't greet him. What's the doctrine of Christ? That he resurrected. That he resurrected. He's both Lord and Christ. If somebody don't bring the doctrine of Christ, the Father and the Son, they're not going to be resurrected. Son. Now if you'll notice it didn't mention the Holy Spirit. But the Bible says in Colossians chapter 2 verse 9
that you are the Godhead in bodily. The Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. Now listen to me very carefully. Because of Jesus death, burial, resurrection you can never be separated from the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Trinity is living in you and you're living in Him forever. Can't be lost. Can't be taken away. Where's it gonna go? The Bible said in Hebrews 10 and 14 with one offering He has forever perfected those that are being sanctified. With one offering He has forever. Forever. Forever. How long is forever? Man, you ought to be so happy you ought to run home. Amen? I'm telling you, the Word of God will get you excited where you can't sleep. You won't even think about sleeping. You'll be so full of life, man, that it's just jumping up and down on the inside of you all the time. You just can't sit still. Why? Because the Word of God works. This Word works. Guys, I'm not telling you something that don't work. This Word works. Go to Revelation 1, 17 and 18. Everybody loves Revelation. And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead, but He laid His right hand on me. Which hand? Right always means what? Firstborn. A power of authority. A place of authority. Saying to me, do not be afraid. I'm the first and the last. Verse 18. For I am He who lives and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys, the authority, of what? Hades. That word Hades there is the grave. I have the keys to the grave and of death. In other words, the grave couldn't hold me. Because the Spirit that I released to the Father in three days, I had a command from the Father that He was going to send the Spirit back and get me. How many of you believe that you have a command from the Father that the Holy Spirit's inside of you? Come on, somebody. He said He fell in fear before the Lord, and He put His right hand on Him, and He said, I am the beginning and the end. I'm the Alpha
and the Omega. I'm the Elif and Taf in the Hebrew. In other words, listen to me a minute. Elif and Taf. That means there ain't nothing in between. You can't say anything or do anything that I ain't. I know I ain't ain't a good word. But what He was really saying is I'm the beginning and the end. But think about it a minute now. If there's no beginning and end in forever and in eternity, then how's He the beginning and the end? How's He the first and the last? How's the Elif and the Taf if there's no beginning and end in eternity? Because in Him there's no time. You're the only one to put time on something. Now watch this. I want you to go with me. Go to Matthew 28, 5 and 6. But the angel answered and said to the woman, Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. Now the angel said, I know you seek Jesus who was crucified. I know you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6. But He's not here. For He's risen. And as He said, Come, see the place. I know who you're seeking, but I want you to understand that you're seeking Jesus. But He's not here. For He is risen. He said, Come and see the place where the Lord did lay. He died as Jesus and resurrected as Christ our Lord. So you've got to understand something and listen to me very carefully. You and I are walking in a greater dimension on the earth than Jesus ever did. Because we're living after the resurrection. He was living before the resurrection. That's why when Jesus came back to earth after the resurrection, He couldn't do any miracles on earth. Because He couldn't do it because His body was illegal to function on the earth with the glorified one. So what He done is He sent us and we took on flesh and we dwelled among men full of truth and grace. And we're just like Him on the earth now, except there's a bunch of us. So you and I can do everything that He done because we're living in a greater dimension than Jesus did. That's why He said greater works than you will do than I did.
You'll do everything that I did and even greater works than I do. Why? Because He never done it after the resurrection. Oh, come on somebody. If we could understand who we really were, we wouldn't sleep for days. We wouldn't sleep for days. We confess the word till we became... we'd just be a mouth full of word all the time. We'd be so full of the word that the word would just overcome us and we would become that eternity that you're talking about. And so we would be the answer to every problem that we pray. You know the Holy Spirit told me something several years ago. Now listen to me very carefully. The first thing I learned about when I first got born again was the Holy Spirit. Because the Holy Spirit is the most important thing in your life. Because you're going to know all things. He don't just talk about spiritual things. He tells you how to be a good daddy, how to be a good husband, and how to do the right thing. But the Holy Spirit spoke to me. I remember when I first started with the Lord. I began to ask a question. And I was kind of like in a prayer form. I don't do that anymore. But I was in a kind of a prayer form and I'd say, Lord, you know, I'm praying about this, I'm praying about this, and I'm praying about this. And then all of a sudden, inside of me, I would answer myself that I had just prayed. And I thought, you know what, they're going to put you on the fifth floor for that. Ron, you ever heard that? You can ask yourself a question, but don't answer the thing. Don't talk back to me, Seth. Amen? And then I read in the scripture where Paul said, I die daily to myself. And then I understood that. What was God doing? He was revealing to me the answer that I had just spoke out of my mouth from the Holy Spirit. So he was letting me know that he had done everything that I needed him to do. And all I needed to do was confess the word and the word was manifest because I was the answer to it. Oh, my Lord. And I understood that the Holy Spirit was a person then, and that he was walking around with me all the time.
And now I live and move and have my being in him. So you've preached it as he lives and moves and has his being in us. But that's really not the truth. You live and have your being in him. Let's go to John, the first of John, chapter one, verse four and five. In him was a, and the life was the light of men. Look at verse five. And the light shines in ignorance and the darkness could not comprehend it. Why? Jesus had the life and the light in him that could bring the shine to his earthly wall. He has given that life to the little lightbearers. That's me and you, right? The new creation. Amid the darkness of sense knowledge, we are to shine as lights. The resurrection of Jesus meant Satan was defeated. His slaves became his masters. When Lucifer was defeated, what he was slaves to, now we've become masters of. So what was masters, what was slaves to Lucifer after the resurrection? They became masters to Lucifer. Why? Because he brought us out of condemnation and guilt and he brought us out of death. He brought us out of slavery. He brought us out of sin and made us righteous. Now what's this? What's this? What's this? Stay with me. Every new creation would be a conqueror. The new creation would be a master. Now let's go back to first John, chapter five, verse four and five. Watch this. Stay with me. Lord Jesus, the word of God will change your life. Whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that overcomes the world. What is it? Our faith. Now look at verse five. Who is he who overcomes but believes that Jesus is the son of God? Hallelujah. Not the son of man, but the son of God. He became the son of God. Who's born again? Who believes after the resurrection? Just believing in the cross is not what he said, guys. He said you got to believe in the resurrection for whoever overcomes the world,
but he who believes that Jesus is the son of God. And once he becomes the son of God, you became a son of God because he's the firstborn of many brothers. Hallelujah. I'm preaching better and y'all are happy looking. Thank you for joining us today at Power in the Word.
