Give Me This Mountain | Ryan Leak I Social Dallas
In “Give Me This Mountain,” Ryan Leak asks, “What if God doesn’t remove the mountain but gives us the strength to climb it?” No matter what we go through, we can choose our perspective, our posture, and our persistence. Because God is with us, every mountain can be faced.

Whether it's a one-time gift or becoming a recurring partner, every gift makes impact and every dollar moves dirt. Thank you for believing in what God is doing through Social Dallas. Here's today's message. We're gonna stand on confident trust. If you're new to social, that is our word for the year. Our word for 2026 is trust. Not ratchet trust, not shaky trust, confident trust. And to remind ourselves every single Sunday we declare our verse of the year Hebrews chapter 10 verse 35 through 37. Y'all ready to read it? Come on. Y'all didn't lose your energy while I was gone reading it, did you? I know I was watching. Come on. So remember you don't go till I say so. Here we go. So confident trust in the Lord. Patient endurance is what you need now so that you will continue to do as He does. Then you will receive all that He has promised. For in just a little while, the kind one will come and not delay. Y'all sound good? You sound real good. Anybody ready for the Word of God today? You're about to be blessed. You're about to be blessed real good. First of all, I want to say this word today is for absolutely everybody. Every single person in the room, watching online, our social global family, we love you. But how many of you are entrepreneurs? You work in the marketplace, my business people, let me see you. Come on. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Want to shout y'all out. I feel like y'all are especially gonna be blessed today because of the unique anointing that is on the life of our speaker today. He's got what I call an ambidextrous anointing.
This brother will preach at a church on Sunday and then on Monday he'll be speaking to Wells Fargo and Chick-fil-A. God uses him not just in the church but in the marketplace. This is not his first time here. It's his second time here. So he's already adopted into the family. He's an author. He is a brilliant mind. He's a father. He'll tell you more about his family and he's just my friend. He's my homie and I'm so glad he's here today. Come on social fam, put your hands together and welcome Ryan Leake as he comes to bring the word today. Come on, y'all can do better than that. Wow, wow, wow. Come on, can we make some noise for Jesus in this place one time? He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Can we also make some noise for your pastors, Pastors Rob and Taylor Medea. What I absolutely admire and love about your pastors is you rarely see a combination of extreme anointing and talent matched with extreme integrity and humility and I admire who they are and what God is doing in this place but I also admire who they are when they're just with their family and their friends. You've got good pastors here. If you are, if you're looking for a church or if you're just checking things out just know that you are in a good place today. I've got a message that I truly believe is going to add value to your life. If there's something you have been facing that you feel like you cannot overcome, my hope and prayer is that you would leave this place a little bit stronger than you came in. The verse I want to zoom in on today is found in Joshua chapter 14 verse 12. The Israelites are getting ready to enter into the promised land. Thomas land, Joshua is their leader and he is divvying out the land and an 85 year old man named Caleb steps up to the plate and, and says in verse 12, now therefore give me this mountain of which the Lord spoke in that day for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there. The Anakim were giants. I don't know if you just saw Odyssey, but just think giants. Okay. That's the land that they're in and, and that the cities were great and fortified. It may be that the Lord will be with me and I shall be able to drive them out. As the Lord said,
I would love to speak to you today on the subject of give me this mountain. Give me this mountain. Look at your neighbor and say, give me this mountain. Give me this mountain. Can we pray together? Lord, I pray for this amazing body of believers today and you can see each and every mountain that we are facing. God, I pray that today you would give us the strength to face the thing that we would often run from. Do this. We ask in your precious name and everybody said, amen. You can be seated. Give me this mountain. This is trash talk at a level that is unbelievable. Give me this mountain. Give me that smoke. I want the hard stuff. Okay. Like, like this is a brother who is looking for a fight. I'm just curious. Even if you're watching online, you can, you can say something in the chat, touch some sky. If you have ever been in a fight, a physical altercation, touch some sky, look at this gangsters everywhere. I love this church. This is amazing. Thugs all around. And you thought it was perfect people in here. You like, I thought I was the only one. You ain't the only thug in here. You got friends. Okay. I, I, I find it interesting that sometimes, you know, we have some people who they used to be fighters in their old life. And then you got some of us who we love Jesus, but we'll still cut you if necessary. You know what I'm talking about? Like, like you saved, but like you, you barely say like, I'm not that saved. Okay. Like, like some people still got a little fight in them. And I'll be honest. I have never been in a physical altercation in my entire life. I will call the police on you so fast. If you, if you, if you want that smoke, you're going to get nine one one from me. Okay. And I'm not, I'm really not a fighter. I'm not, I'm not that guy, you know, but at least I didn't think I was, I didn't think I had fight in me until my kids started playing youth sports. And I found out I wasn't even saved. Okay. Like, like I was at these games, like losing my mind. I've got two, two kids that really they're cute because of my beautiful wife, Amanda. But we, we've got one who's seven. I believe we've got a picture of the seven year old who plays basketball. This is, this is Roman. And y'all say, Oh, that ain't me at the games. I'm like, what'd you say? Like, I'm losing it at the games. This is Jackson. He, he plays football as well. And, and, and we were at a game about a year ago and, and a kid kicked my son. Now I was sitting next to somebody from the church and y'all I blacked out. Okay. I don't even know where I went. I stood up. I'm yelling at this nine year old. I'm yelling at his parents. I forgot who I was and, and
I'm yelling at the, I mean, I'm losing my mind at this game. And I, and I, and I came back to earth for a second. I said, Ryan, you own the Bible lab. People gonna know you. You can't, you can't just be acting a fool at these basketball games and these football games. And I literally, I put my hand on my forehead and I looked down and I was wearing a sweatshirt that said choose joy. And I had chosen violence and, and, but, but at the end of the day, it's like, I'm, I'm, I'm not a tough guy. The guy that we're looking at in scripture today is a guy by the name of Caleb. And, and if we're looking for like a biblical tough guy, you would think of David. He's a guy that fights lions, tigers, and bears. You know, he's not, he's not afraid of giants and he's got an entire chapter in scripture outlining all of his military victories. He's got a resume. This is a tough guy, Caleb. The only reason he's a tough guy isn't because of his physical stature. because of his military history. The reason that Caleb is a tough guy, the only reason an 85-year-old can say give me this mountain is because he just believes that God is on his side. That's what makes him who he is. He's going, hey, I can take these guys. Who do you think you are, retired dude? And he's going, oh, it's not about who I think I am. It's that I know who God is. Amen. I want to zoom in on this man's life because I believe he made some choices, some choices that you and I can make today. I believe that you can leave this place knowing that God is on your side and you too could be the kind of person who would dare say give me this mountain. You want what most of us say? God, remove this mountain.
Might I submit something to you this morning? What if he doesn't? But he gives you the strength to face it anyways. I believe Caleb made some decisions that you and I get to make. I'm going to give you three choices if you're taking notes. We all got three choices today and Caleb had his. Number one, we get to choose our perspective. We get to choose our perspective. I want us to jump to Numbers chapter 13. I want us to go backwards to see how Caleb got to a place in his life where he could say, give me this mountain. Numbers chapter 13, verse one. And the Lord spoke to Moses saying, send men to spy out the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the children of Israel from each tribe of their fathers. You shall send a man, every one a leader among them. And so these spies go out, they do a scouting report and what they find is giants. In verse 27, they come back with the report and it says, then they told him and said, we went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey. And this is its fruit. We went shopping. We brought gifts back from this land. It's a good land, no question. Nevertheless, there's a problem.
The people who dwell in the land are strong and the cities are fortified and very large. Moreover, we saw the descendants of Anakhtar. In fact, if we jump to verse 33, it says, and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight. And so we were in their sight. They came back with the perspective. Hey Moses, we understand what God told you to tell us. It's true, this is a land flowing with milk and honey, but there's a problem. We're not gonna be able to overtake this land because of who lives there. 12 guys, same scouting report, but two of them came back with a different perspective. It says in verse 30, then Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, let us go up at once and take possession for we are well able to overcome it. Before you could ever get to a place in your life where you could say, give me this mountain, you might have to quiet the people around you. He says, sorry, I can't listen to everybody. I can hear everybody, but who I listen to is my choice. Sometimes you're gonna have doubters in your life. Sometimes you're gonna have some people that can't believe that you would ever go back to school or that you would ever start that business or that you would ever be a leader at the church or that you would even go to church at all, but the only way that you are really going to be able
to hear who God is is if you sometimes have to quiet the noise because the group chat is loud. Social media is loud and at some point, we have to believe God over what we're actually seeing in front of us. Sometimes we have to believe God over what we're hearing from all around us and that, my friends, is a decision. Caleb is going, hey, I see something different that you just can not see, but unfortunately, the 10 was an overwhelming vote against the two and then later in Numbers chapter 14, verse 22, it says, because all these men have seen my glory and the signs which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness have put me to the test these 10 times and have not heeded my voice, they certainly shall not see the land of which I swore to their fathers, nor shall any of those who rejected me see it, but my servant Caleb because he has a different spirit somebody say different spirit because he has a different spirit in him and has followed me fully I will bring into the land where he went and his descendants shall inherit it he said hey there's a lot going on in the crowd but my servant Caleb has got a friend spirit look at your neighbor say I'm built different let him know I'm built different I'm built different sometimes we are searching for sameness and are consistently frustrated God called you to be different I want a different future than my past that means I'm gonna have to talk a little bit different walk a little bit different lead a little different I can't be married like everybody else's man I can't parent like everybody else parents I can't go to meetings like everybody else does why because I'm called to be different I got
to have a different perspective if I want to be called out the way that God is calling us to live each and every day and it's okay to be different sometimes you're gonna be alone and different but your future is still bright God's going hey I know there's a lot going on with a lot of people but I can see Caleb I've given him a different spirit so it's interesting when you have a different spirit you get to choose a different perspective two people could be in the same hospital room one person sees the end of the road the other person sees an opportunity for God to show up what's the difference perspective one person could lose their job and they're losing their mind another person loses their job and says I ain't like this job anyways and I've been ignoring what God has been calling me to do for a long time anyway so now this is my opportunity to be obedient because if I wouldn't have got fired I would never would have quit and he asked me to quit two years ago anyway and so so I'm good anyways why because I got a different perspective I got a friend who has an incredible home in Las Vegas and unfortunately they were robbed a year ago and if you know anybody who has been vandalized it's hard to go back into that same space it is so traumatizing to come home and see your stuff in all different places and your kids rooms vandal it's it's just really hard and so I've I've been checking on my friend periodically over the last year and I was at an event a couple of weeks ago with him and his wife and I had never seen his wife before and I said hey I just want to let you know like I've been praying for you guys and how are you really doing like it's been a year like let's just be honest have you thought about moving and she said he has I said well he told me you were doing good but I don't know if I believed him like I really just want to like I'm just checking on you and the kids I how how were you how are you really doing and this is what she said she said Ryan can I be honest with you everything they stole was stuff I bought to impress other people and then pastor Robert she said this she said if I'm honest I think they did me a favor what's the difference perspective my friends you don't always get to choose your circumstances but you always get to
choose your perspective you you might be facing something and everybody in your life would go it looks like Giants to me but you got a different perspective looks like an opportunity for me why not because I'm awesome but because he is I want you to walk into your homes I want you to walk into your jobs I want you to walk into the grocery store and be somebody that's willing to have a different perspective please social Dallas do not fall for the trap of the doom and gloom trap because if you have a phone it's easy to fall into that trap oh it's all falling apart it's terrible and sometimes you can just rehearse the doom and gloom oh the weather we know it's Texas we know we know we know Oh gas prices we know we know we know all this AI stuff we know oh so much change going on we know the economy we know all these politics I can't believe we know why don't you bring something different to the chat why don't you bring something different to the table why don't you bring something different to the meeting you got nothing we already know that it does not require God to point out Giants it requires God to face him I'm, I'm begging us this weekend to say, you know, I can't control all of the circumstances that have happened in my life. But I can control my perspective. The second choice that we get to make is we don't just get to choose our perspective, we get to choose our posture. We get to choose our posture, Joshua chapter 14 verse 10, it's time for Caleb to inherit this land. And he says, and now behold, the Lord has kept me alive. As he said, these 45 years, 45 years, you've been waiting in line 45 years, you know, some of the most impressive Christians to me are, are the people who have been praying the same prayer for decades, standing in line and believing that God is still God waiting, waiting. Here's Caleb going. I know what God said, but it's been a while, 45 years ever since the Lord spoke this word to Moses while Israel wandered in the wilderness. And now here I am this day, 85 years old, verse 11 says this, and yet I am as strong
this day as on the day that Moses sent me just as my strength was then. So now is my strength for war, both going out and for coming in. Caleb said, Hey, it's been a while God, but I'm still locked and loaded and ready to go. I'm still as strong as ever. I'm still standing on the promises of God. I'm still locked low. Like I'm still here. I'm not, I'm not going anywhere. The biggest test for a Christian is an unanswered prayer because then you go, I don't know if I want to keep giving. I don't know if I want to keep serving. I don't know if I want to keep coming. I don't know if it's working because we have grown impatient with the process and, and God's gone, but I'm going to give him what he needs for 45 years. And I love his tone and I love his posture. He didn't say, God made me wait 45 years. He said, God has kept me alive for this day. Yeah, yeah, I'm just as strong. Do you know how, how much Caleb had to work out every day, at least five times a week to stay strong, waiting, waiting for battle going, Hey, I know, Lord, I was ready a long time ago, but, but, but you're, you're going to, you're going to make me wait. Some of my friends in the room, you're going, I've been ready for marriage for a long time. I'm just waiting for him to come. I've been, I've been waiting. Who you decide to be when you're waiting is the test of who you really are. What is going to be your posture while you wait? I love, there is a passage of scripture in Habakkuk. And the reason I love it is because it is a breakdown of a prophet who has just decided how he is going to posture himself while he waits. Habakkuk chapter three, verse 17 says, though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit beyond
the vines, though the labor of the olive may fail and the fields yield no food, though the flock may be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord. I will joy in the God of my salvation. Two words you should see in this text, though, and yet he gives a though list. Though basic explanation, his economy is failing. The market is down. He can't sell any houses. He just lost his job. Things are not going well. He gives a though list. You might have your own. Though I just lost my job, though I'm still single, though I'm still sick, though I got a doctor's report that isn't lining up with what I believe God has said about me. Though, though, though, though, though, all of us can have a though list. And by the way, just because you're in church doesn't mean you can't have a though list. Like you can be honest with God. God is not shaking on his throne, trying to figure out what to do with you. He can handle your honesty. But a. said yet yet yeah yeah there's a lot of those in my life yet I will rejoice in the Lord I will joy in the God of my salvation you don't get to choose your circumstances but you do get to choose your praise I have already made a decision about my posture some people's posture is like this you ever met any people like this they live they live arms crossed this is how they live they like this is how they leave this is how they parent this is how they can stay married they on a date like this they at work like this they just they always grumpy you know what I'm saying like they always mad some people when they not mad they don't even feel comfortable you know what I'm saying like like they need something to be mad at they get on social media looking for somebody they
definitely looking for smoke every single day and they just live their life like this some people so mad they pre mad have you ever met a pre mad person before they showed up man you like I ain't seen you in four days what are you talking about like like some people just live like this this is their posture and God has not given me what I want not given going to your church getting in the scripture no no no God you you you bless me first and then we can talk let me make a deal with God and this is this is their posture and let's just be honest some people have been so hurt they don't know any other posture your posture is like this not because you're a bad person but because bad things have happened to a good person and so while you wait you're waiting in a bitter place Caleb had reasons to be bitter for 45 years but he chose his posture social Dallas might I submit another posture while you wait it looks like this one that says hey hey God you can have my life you can have the ups and you can have the downs it's all yours it's it's all yours if you give it to me tomorrow I'm just gonna give it back to you anyways if you make me wait 45 years it's not going to change my posture why because I decided my posture before you brought me the healing because you can sing the songs all day long but you get to decide when you sing it do you sing it after you get the job or before do you sing it before you get the healing or after the healing I'm just gonna tell you today you got choices to make some people believe they don't have choices we all got choices interestingly enough Habakkuk he goes on in verse 19 he says the Lord God is my strength and then he says something interesting he will make my feet like deer's feet and he will make me walk on my high heels lady this is ladies this is a different kind of high heels you feel me like like like he gonna make me walk on high heels if you don't know anything about deer feet a deer can walk up a mountain and not slip some of us have been praying God remove the mountain he might be giving you feet to stand on it anyways here's why I couldn't be God I would give all of you everything you asked for every single one of you oh yeah you you want six figures you get a car you get a car you get a car I'd be Oprah out here you feel
me like like like that like that that's why I couldn't be God because I would just give everybody what they wanted every time they asked for a mountain to be removed let's get it out their way let's make their life a little bit easier and a little bit more comfortable and a little bit more convenient but who would you become if I made your life too easy let me tell you the people you respect the most aren't the ones that had it easy the people you respect the most are the ones who overcame hell overcame some mountains been through some stuff beat cancer you we respect these people more but sometimes we don't want the smoke no no no Caleb says give me the toughest one why I got deer feet. I'll be okay. Hey, you know 85-year-olds don't get in fights anymore. Caleb's like, yeah, but I'm different. And God's on my side. The last choice that we make, that we get to make is we get to choose our persistence. A lot of people are gonna give up and won't keep going, especially as soon as they see a mountain, as soon as it gets tough, as soon as it's, wait, I gotta give up something? Yeah. Oh, no, then I'm good. But you get to choose to keep going when everybody else gives up. I mean, just look at, look at what he says. He says, now therefore, give me this mountain of which the Lord spoke in that day. Then he says, it may be that the Lord will be with me and I shall be able to drive them out as the Lord said. So yeah, I really like Caleb because I'm not like Caleb.
At 85, everybody would have given him the permission slip to say, I ain't got deer feet. I got beach feet. Give me the beachfront property. That's the one I want. Don't give me this mountain. Give me that beach. Okay, I deserve it. Okay, it's been 45 years. I've been faithful. God told you that. Like, come on, like, give me a break. He said, give me this mountain. It's interesting. A lot of us will give our excuses for why God can't use us. I don't know if you ever talked to God like you're God's consultant. He calls you and you're like, God, I understand what you're saying, but let me tell you about this other person. They're really, have you met Sally? She's great. She's the perfect person to do this. God's going, no, no, no, I'm talking to you. I see you. I need you to do this. I actually placed you at that job for a reason. I actually have you at that job for a reason. I actually have you in that neighborhood for a reason. Your kids are on that sports team for a reason.
And I know you might think that you're too young. I know you might think that you have a rap sheet. We got some friends right now watching this in prison and they think, well, not me. Yes, we see you. You might think, well, but Ryan, listen, I understand what you're saying, but you gotta understand something. I literally just got divorced. This is not a good time for my calling. According to who? Your life is not over. But I just got out of a breakup. You don't understand, I just graduated. Hey, man, I'm in middle school right now. Okay, listen, I don't even got a driver's license yet, so I can't really serve in the way that you, like we all can give our thing to God, but if an 85-year-old can stare at a land of giants and go give me this mountain, who are we to tell God what he can't do with our own life? Give me the hard stuff. Can you imagine a bunch of Christians walking out of church going, we ain't ducking the smoke. Give me the hard stuff. Yeah, no, no, no, God, don't remove it. Give me the strength for it. A removed mountain doesn't make you better. A climbed one does. I just want you to know that Caleb's confidence
is not in his ability. It's that maybe the Lord will be with me and we'll be able to overcome them as he said. Not because I said it, but because he said it. My friends, I want you to understand today that God's on your side. And there is no mountain that you can't face. I want you to know that God is for you. If God is for you, who can be against us? That's good news, that's good news. That's really good news. But that's not all. What would you do if I told you that God is with you? Not just for you, with you. Matthew 1, verse 23, it says that they gave Jesus this nickname when he came to the planet, Emmanuel. God is with us. You mean he's on our side? Because there's a lot of people that walk around the planet going, I just, I don't know where I stand. Stand with this God. Is he with me? Is he not? Is he for me? Is he not? God is for you. God is with you. And that's good news. But it's not the best news. The best news is that he's not just for you. He's not just with you. But his spirit dwells within you. Let me explain it like this. Let's just say you came to me and said, hey, Ryan, I got good news. What is it? Michael Jordan is for me. What? He signed you to Jumpman. You got a Nike. I'm like, what? That's amazing. Michael Jordan signed you to a deal. Can I get some shoes size 13 in case you're praying about something right now? Like, this is awesome. But then if I said, hey, I'm having a birthday party. I'm getting ready to turn 40 next month. I got a birthday party. Hey, why don't y'all come to my birthday party? He said, hey, man, I'll be there. Guess what?
Michael Jordan is going to be with me. What? MJ, come to my birthday party? That's amazing. Like, how do you know Mike like that? Like, he's going to be with you. I knew you would sign with him. I didn't know you talked to him. Like, he's going to be with you. Yeah, yeah. He said he wanted to come and just rock with us. I'm like, oh, my goodness. But that would be cool. But if we were going to play one on one and you told me that Michael Jordan's spirit would be within you, there's no way I could defeat you. Why? Because you would have the greatest player of all time living on the inside of you. Hey, this is what I want you to know. The King of Kings and Lord of Lords is for you, with you, and lives within you. So the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives within you. So you can look at anything and say, give me this mountain. Anxiety doesn't have a chance because you can say, give me this mountain. Addiction doesn't have a chance because you can say, give me this mountain. There is nothing that you cannot face with God on your side, with God being for you, and most important, God being in you. So change how you go to work. So change how you see your family. Because some of us, we've been walking around with our head down because we feel like nobody's for us and we feel alone and there's no power living on the inside. I came to encourage you today that God's got a calling on your life, that you can face anything and say, give me this mountain. I'm not scared, not because I'm brave. I'm not scared because I know who lives in me. I can be a pastor and say, hey, I know we got a new building. I know it feels impossible. I know it feels far away. And how in the world are we going to raise this money? Give me this mountain. And I never had a dad to teach me how to pray over my kids and lead a family and take care of my wife and speak life over her. I don't know how to do that. That's okay. Give me this mountain. I've never broken an addiction in my life. I know. I understand. Give me this mountain. Ryan, you don't know how they look at me at my job. I do. Who cares? Give me this mountain. You're worried about how they see you, but you have forgotten how he sees you. I know who's, I know how he looks at me. I know how he sings over me. I know how he talks about me. So I walk in confidence because of who he is, not because of what he's doing. Not because of what I have done. My prayer for whatever you're facing today is that you would walk out of this place
with the confidence that Caleb had at 85, who should have been shopping for rocking chairs, was outside looking for a fight to say, Hey, God's not done in my city, in my community, in my school, in my job. And so if I'm here, I'm going to be here regardless of my age, regardless of my season in life. God, would you give me this with every head bowed and every eye closed. I want to give each and every person an opportunity to make Jesus the Lord and savior of their life. Maybe you don't, you've never known where you stand with God. I can tell you. Um, he sent his son to die for you. Has one big message to the planet to say, Hey, I'm with you. I'm for you. And I, I like temples, but I like people more and I want my spirit to dwell within them. And so he, he paid the price. And so if you're, if you're wondering what you got to do, he's already done the work. Pastor Roberts said it best earlier. The priest is also the sacrifice. The work has been done. What do you got to do? Believe in the work. What do you got to do? Surrender your heart. What do you got to do? You got to say, Hey, Jesus, I accept the invitation with every head bowed and every eye closed. If you're here today and you want to make Jesus the Lord and Savior of your life, would you just slip and say, Ryan, that's me, Ryan. That's me. I see your hand. I see you there. Anybody else? Anybody else? Hands all over. Anybody else? Anybody else? Hey, can we all say this prayer together?
Say Jesus, thank you for dying on a cross for my sins. I ask now that you would be the Lord and Savior of my life. I surrender my past, my present, and my future to you. In Jesus name we pray. Everybody said, Amen. Come on. Can we make some noise for every single person that gave their heart to Christ? Come on. Can we give Jesus just one more hand clap of praise today? Can we thank Ryan Leake for that powerful word?
