All a part of our social family. Today is going to be a good day. Can I tell you all, I feel like preaching today. I feel like preaching. It's been a minute. I'm glad to be back. If you're new to social, welcome. I'm so glad that you're here. Every single year, we have a word that shapes our year, and our word for 2026 is trust, confident trust in the Lord. And that word comes straight from scripture. And every single Sunday of this year, we've declared Hebrews chapter 10, verses 35 through 37 collectively as a family. But today, I want to do something different. Is that okay? Good, I was going to do it. Anyway, rather than reading it together as a family today, I want to declare it over you today. So you get an excused absence today on reading the verse of the year. Don't go when I say so. I want to say it over you today. You ready? In fact, Barry, cut the music. Yeah. So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you. Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God's will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.

For in just a little while, the coming one will come and not delay. If you believe it, give God some praise. Remain standing. Let me tell you why I did that. Because the last time I read that verse over you was in January. Remember January? Trust is one of those words that's easy to declare in January. Oh, come on. January, you had so much passion. January, you had so much vision. January was filled with so much possibility, but now we in August. And August is filled with reality. August is when you've had enough of this year to really show you if what you said you trusted in January, you still trust now. And I'm wondering today if you got what I'm calling this series that I'm starting today, some trust issues. Yeah, that's the series I'm kicking off today, trust issues. Now, by the way, I'm not asking if you got trust issues. I'm diagnosing all of us. We all got trust issues because I'm learning more and more that the issue underneath every single issue is really just a trust issue. Your worry is a trust issue. Your fear is a trust issue. Your anxiety is a trust issue. Your greed is a trust issue. Your need to control is a trust issue. Your inability to rest. is a trust issue. Your bitterness is a trust issue. You're wondering if you're gonna get to sit down before I start preaching this sermon, is a trust issue. And so I'm gonna tell you to come every one of the weeks in this series for the next six weeks, we're just gonna hang out here and let the word of God reveal and expose where our trust is really located. Because your trust is located somewhere. And so let's jump into this today, y'all ready? All right, go with me, stay standing, stay standing. Go to Exodus, Exodus chapter number 16. Exodus 16, I'm gonna look at verses one through five.

Exodus 16, we're gonna read one through five and 13 through 20. When you're ready to read it, say yeah. Still trying to find Exodus, say hold up. I heard that, hold up. Genesis. If you're in Ephesians and your paper Bible, just close it and look at the screen. Says, then the whole community of Israel set out from Elam and journeyed into the wilderness of sin between Elam and Mount Sinai. They arrived there on the 15th day of the second month, one month after leaving the land of Egypt. There too, the whole community of Israel complained about Moses and Aaron. If only the Lord had killed us back in Egypt, they moaned. There we sat around pots filled with meat and ate all the bread we wanted. But now you have brought us into this wilderness to starve us all to death. Then the Lord said to Moses, look, I'm going to rain down fire and brimstone on all these ungrateful people. Oh my bad, I read that, I read that into the text. You ever been frustrated if somebody's complaining about you helping them? That's what I would have done, but I love God. He rained down food from heaven for them. Each day the people can go out and pick up as much food as they need for that day.

I will test them in this to see whether or not they will follow my instructions. On the sixth day, they will gather food and when they prepare it, there will be twice as much as usual. Verse 13, that evening, vast numbers of quail flew in and covered the camp. And the next morning, the area around the camp was wet with dew. When the dew evaporated, a flaky substance as fine as frost blanketed the ground. The Israelites were puzzled when they saw it. What is it? They asked each other. They had no idea what it was. And Moses told them, it is the food the Lord has given you to eat. These are the Lord's instructions. Each household should gather as much as it needs, pick up two quarts for each person in your tent. So the people of Israel did as they were told. Some gathered a lot, some only gathered a little. But when they measured it out, everyone had just enough. Those who gathered a lot had nothing left over. And those who gathered only a little had enough. Each family had just what it needed. Look at your neighbor and say to them, God knows what you need. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Then Moses told them, do not keep any of it until morning.

But some of them, it's always some of them, didn't listen and kept some of it until morning. But by then it was full of maggots and had a terrible smell. And Moses was very angry with them. Woo, that's so good. I wanna preach today just using this as a title in the first message of this Trust Issues series, Expired Trust. Expired Trust. Look at your neighbor again, it won't be the last time, but you look at your neighbor, get in their face. Come on, get in their personal space. And just say, neighbor. Neighbor. Oh, neighbor. Oh, neighbor. Has your trust expired? Has your trust expired? Yeah, find another neighbor, find another neighbor. Come on, find another one. Say other neighbor. Other neighbor. I really wanna know from you. I really wanna know from you. Has your trust. Has your trust. Expired. Expired. If you believe God's gonna speak today, would you give him some praise?

Woo. Lord, have your way today. Amen. You may be seated in the presence of the Lord. Expired trust. Social fam, over the years, I have learned. learned not to rush past the details that we are given in scripture. Because more often than not, what looks like it is an insignificant thing on the surface is actually essential to understanding the whole story. Our text today in Exodus 16 is no different. In fact, it starts that way. Did you catch it? Verse number one, look at what it says. It says, they arrived there. Who is they? Children of Israel. Where is there? The wilderness. They arrived there on the 15th day of the second month, one month after leaving the land of Egypt. One month after leaving the land of Egypt. 30 days, y'all, 30 days. That's all it took for them to lose their confident trust in the Lord. 30 days is all it took. It was 30 days since they walked out of Egypt and watched the most powerful empire on earth be brought to its knees by the power of their God.

Come on, if there was ever a people group that had enough evidence to substantiate the fact that God can be trusted, how many of you know, is this people group right here? Let me just borrow from Gen Z. They should have seen the miracles of God and just clocked it, clocked it, because they saw it with their own eyes. Come on, y'all. They saw him turn the Nile River into blood. They saw him make frogs get up out of the water and make their way into Pharaoh's palace. They saw God cause gnats to fill the faces of the Egyptians. They saw God make an army of locusts swarm in and eat all of their crops. They saw God make their livestock drop dead in a moment. See, that's why you don't fool with God, because he can speak to creation. He can speak to the animals. He can speak to anything in the earth. They saw God turn off the lights and there was darkness in Egypt and only the house of the Israelites had light. They saw God do the supernatural. They saw him do the miraculous. They saw the death angel pass over their house, not because they were perfect, but because they took a lamb and they shed the blood of that innocent lamb.

And it was the blood of the lamb that caused death to pass over them. They saw all the manifested miracles of God. Y'all, they saw themselves get to the Red Sea and have Pharaoh and his army behind him. And they watched Moses walk up there with his chest out and lift up his staff. And all of a sudden, God puts a highway in the middle of a sea. They saw themselves walk through walls of water. And then they saw themselves look back and the same wall of water became a grave for Pharaoh and his army. They saw all of that. And then they saw Miriam 30 days earlier, grab a tambourine. Come on, after Pharaoh died, after all of his horses and all of his men drowned in the water, they saw Miriam get that tambourine and just start having church. Talking about, look at what the Lord has done. I'm never going back to the way I was. Church people right here, church people right here. But 30 days later, they've lost their song. 30 days is all it took for them to remix the song. Instead of saying, look at what the Lord has done, I'm never going back to the way I was. Now they're essentially singing, look at what Moses has done.

Why don't you take us back to where we was? That's bad English, but that's what was in the text. And it makes me wonder today, how long does it take for you to lose your song? How long does it take for you to stop singing? How long does it take for you to go from praising to panicking? How long does it take for your worship to turn into worry? How long does it take for you to start declaring, my God is faithful, and then all of a sudden, because he is not doing what you thought he would do, when you thought he would do it, now you're declaring, forget God, because I feel like he forgot me. How long does it take for you to lose your song? Because for the children of Israel, all it took was 30 days. 30 days. 30 days. One of the things that the children of Israel, and you and I have to know, is although it took 30 days for their trust to change, how many know God never changed? He was the consistent one. I wanna thank God that He never changes. Come on, that is good news right there. To know that your God is consistent, to know that your God is faithful, to know that He is the same. Come on, yesterday, today, and forever. That's not good for anybody else.

Anybody else that says, I never change, run away from that person with everything you got. But I'm thankful for a God who says, I don't care if everything is changing around me, nothing is gonna change about me. I am the God who cannot change. I am the uncaused cause. I am the unmoved mover. I am a God who does not change. It's impossible for Him to change, but let's be honest, often our trust in Him is what changes. It changes. And if we're honest, I think a lot of us have put an expiration date on our trust in God. Yeah, I said it. We put an expiration date on our trust in God. Come on, tell the truth. You might not ever say it out loud, but many of us have put an expiration date on our trust, and sometimes it's hidden, because that's how expiration dates are. Come on, you ever tried to find the expiration date? Oh, come on, somebody. On the bottle, on the little milk, just like, where did they actually put the expiration date? I think people do that with God. You say, God, I trust you, but I need you to come through by this date.

God, I trust you with my marriage, but if you don't change by the 20th of this month, it's over. I got options. I still look good. You put an expiration date on it. God, I trust you with my child, but if I don't see change by, God, I trust you with my dream, but if that door doesn't open soon, we don't announce the date. But we know when we've reached it, because something starts changing in us. Our worship changes. Used to be like this. Our prayer changes. Our generosity changes. Our obedience changes. Not necessarily because God changed, but because our trust expired. The children of Israel, their trust expired after how many days? 30 days. Ooh, if I had time, and I do. And if I could be honest, and I have to be, I'm being so generous by giving them 30 days, because it really wasn't 30, it was three. Read it when you get to the crib, Exodus 14 and 15. You will notice, watch this, that God splits the Red Sea and takes them through water.

But three days later, they become thirsty for water. The irony that a God that split a Red Sea and moved the water, and now here you are out here in these streets, and you can't find water. Three days later, they start complaining about water. All it took was three days for them to go, hold up, you got any more water left in your Stanley? No, I'm fresh out too. Anybody else? We all out of water? Mercy! We about to die. I'm parched. I'm dehydrated. They start freaking out about water. God took them through water, and now they're trying to find water. And watch this, this is where it is so easy for us to get churchy and to judge the children of Israel from a distance and from the safety of knowing how their story ends. It's easy to look at the children of Israel and say, come on, children of Israel, don't you know who your God is? The same God that split water, is the same God that can give you water. I serve a God who has authority over water. He knows when to tell H2O where to go. And all that's true.

All that is true, and I believe in it, and it's right. But can we be honest? It's different when your mouth is dry. It's different when your tongue is clinging to the top of your mouth, and you're out here in the wilderness, and you don't see any source of water anywhere. It's different when you are in it. Oh, if you don't get anything I say today, I hope that gets. in your spirit. It's different when you're in it. And some of you need to rush to prayer and compassion instead of judging other people that are going through some things because it's different when you're in it. It's easy to say to them, come on, just trust God, but you can get water whenever you want. The children of Israel, they were in it. It's different when you're in it. Ooh, that's something to say to your neighbor. Look at them. Just one more time. Say, neighbor, trust me. It's different when you're in it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's different when you're in it. Watch what you say. It's different when you're in it. Football season about to start. How come they can throw a pass like that? It's different when you're in it. Oh, I don't know. Why do they do that in the church? Be a pastor. It's different. Ooh, that blessed me. Y'all recording this? It's different when you're in it. Here's what I dare to say today, that trust in God doesn't always translate from one season to the next. Did you hear what I just said? Trust in God doesn't always translate from one season to the next. I know it should. We sing about it. We preach about it. If he did it before, he'll do it again. But when you're in it, it's different. Y'all, I remember when we were trusting God over five years ago, when we started Social Night, and all we needed was $5,000 for our venue at Granada Theater. I remember it vividly, $5,000. I remember we had to trust God for that. Matter of fact, I remember my wife and I, we paid for the first venue cost. We were like, cool, we trust you, God, and we can do the first one, $5,000. I remember trusting God for that. I remember when it went up to $10,000 and we were at two different venues, I remember trusting God for that. How many of you know our venue cost?

It's five times that now. I'm proud to say I'm still trusting God because how many of you know every single venue we've been in, God has been faithful. God has provided. He's shown up time after time. I've watched him do it. So, theoretically, I should be able to say the same God that's provided for every single venue is the same God that's going to provide the millions that we need for our future home at 10110 Technology Boulevard. Theoretically, I should just say same God, but when you're in it and some of y'all ain't giving, when you're in it, it's different. So, look at the children of Israel there. They're in it. Here's what I've learned. The memory of a past miracle doesn't eliminate the pressure of a present need. The memory of a past miracle doesn't eliminate the pressure of a present need. God, I know you split water. I walked through it. Later, we will find out you can walk on water and you can calm water and you can turn water into wine, but right now, I just need a glass of water. Can you do that and look at the faithfulness of our God? Because the children of Israel, you'll note, did not pray to God to provide water. They complained to God about the water. I'm just parked there just for a minute. You do know there's a difference between a prayer life and a complaint life. Can I ask you what's better, your prayer life or your complaint life? Some of y'all are killing the game with your complaint life. They say the average American complains 15 to 20 times a day. Let's be honest. This is rookie numbers for some of y'all. They didn't pray about the water. They complained about the water, and look at the goodness of our God. If it was me, I'm not responding to your complaints, yet God responded to their complaints. Oh, come on. That's not giving you a visa to complain. It just shows the character of our God, that he's that good, that he's that for you, that he cares that much. Because God knows that you've gone through so much, children of Israel. You've been through so much pain. You don't even know how to ask for what you need. You've been a slave for over 400 years. You don't know the love of a father. You just know the evil control of a slave master. So, in my goodness, I'm going to teach you, I got you. I'm going to teach you. I'm for you. So he turns bitter waters sweet Later, he will take them who I love this. He takes them to an oasis There's like 12 Springs of water and 70 palm trees. We got Springs and palms. They takes him to Palm Springs Come on y'all that's moving on up when you've been in Egypt and right when they want to chillax in

Palm Springs and chillax in the oasis God moves them from the oasis To the wilderness has God ever moves you from the oasis To a wilderness don't you love the oasis because you don't need faith to trust God in the oasis I don't need faith to trust God when the marriage is good. My kids are making straight A's. I just got a promotion There's a Tesla in my driveway. None of my kids are on drugs. They look beautiful. I don't need faith for that It's when I go from the oasis to the Wilderness it's wild in the wilderness Nowhere in Genesis does God say let there be wilderness. Why because of the wilderness there is no life in the wilderness There's nothing you can lean on and the wilderness. There's nothing you can depend on and guess what? That's the point God will often move you to a wilderness so he can position you in a place to say I'm the only One you're gonna need to make it through this right here Oh, y'all don't like that right there, but somebody needs to give God some praise while you in the wilderness Anybody can praise them in an oasis But when you're in a wilderness season and you don't know how you're gonna get out of it That's when your praise goes up another level because your whole trust is in God Somebody take like 10 seconds and give God the best praise that you got It's in it's in the wilderness that your trust is tested Matter of fact, here's the test of the wilderness the test of the wilderness is not do you have trust in God? The test of the real wilderness is how long is your trust gonna last? That's the test. And so here's what I want to ask you. It's the first message in the series. You ready? Here's what I want to ask What's the expiration date on your trust Are you honest enough to admit it What's the expiration date on your trust at one point? Will you say God? I tried it I Tried it I

Tried it On your trust at one point will you say God I tried it I'm out So Falls Let's try one more time for the people who are sleeping No, I messed you up because you didn't get to say it at the beginning. Let's try one time so Oh Pause don't throw away this confident trust for me to throw it away. I had to have it first And if I threw it away You only throw away what? expires This is the challenge of life. It's not how you start off. Anybody can start off saying God I trust you It's when you don't see the manifestation of the promise Can you keep holding on to the confident trust and even when the enemy is doing everything to get you to throw it away? Can you say I'm gonna hold on to it? I have not seen it yet But I believe I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. He has not brought me this far to die Because your neighbor say don't throw it away Don't throw it away don't throw away Your confident trust in the Lord, so it took 30 days for them to throw away their trust and look I want you To look at in a minute with what they said because most scholars tell us That they would have had about 30 days worth of supplies coming out of Egypt Isn't that interesting They would have had about 30 days of supplies Coming out of Egypt. So now this makes sense Because you're walking through the wilderness and now day 30 is hit and you reach down and you're Louie duffel bag Not there's the Egyptians God blessed them on the way out and One day Scott gave it to him and you got one peanut butter and jelly sandwich left Now you're like, oh no

Moses You brought us out here to die. We gonna starve to death. You know how you are when you get hangry This is where they are and they can't see anything around them. There is no Bucky's in sight and they don't know where they are. You gotta feel where they are. I don't wanna take them out of context. Let's look at exactly what they said. Exodus 16, verse three. They declare, if only the Lord had killed us back in Egypt, they moaned. There we sat around pots filled with meat and ate all the bread we wanted, but now you have brought us into this wilderness to starve us all to death. Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute. Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. I'm confused. What you mean in Egypt you sat around pots filled with meat and ate all the bread that you want? That's not the Egypt I read about in the first chapters of Exodus. I didn't read about some all-inclusive resort. What are you talking about you sat around pots of meat? I read y'all were slaves in Egypt. They were whipping you and beating you. You had to make bricks with no straw. They were throwing your children in the Nile River. You cried out to God for 400 years saying, God, if you're real, would you please get us out of this? Would you please rescue this?

How has that turned into, man, we were chilling there eating bread and meat all day. It's teaching us that when your trust in God starts expiring, your memory starts editing. When your trust in God starts expiring, your memory starts editing. You will remember the food, but forget about Pharaoh. You'll remember the smell of the meat, but forget the misery. You'll remember the bread, oh, it was so good, but you forget about the bondage that was attached to that bread. And before you start judging the children of Israel, how many know we do the same thing? We will edit with our memory and we will glorify a season. Talking about those were the good old days. You ever done that before? It's funny, I listen to some people talk about their testimony like that. They're like, man, before I got saved, whoo, I was living the life, man. I'm telling you, I had all the money I needed, man. I was in the club every night. I'm telling you, I would pop a bottle. I was doing it big, man. You don't understand me. Everybody knew me when I was in the world, but then, you know, I gave my life to Jesus. And yet, now I'm here. What?

Isn't it funny how in your memory, you will edit out parts of your story? You will edit out the pain, but just think about the parts that seemed like it were good. You know that relationship was toxic, but now you're lonely, and your trust in God is expiring. So now you're like, he wasn't that bad. There was some days he was good. Man, that one time he did pray at Cheese Factory for the meal. He was kind of a man of God. I mean, he was in a process. How have you edited out the disrespect, the pain, the verbal abuse, the emotional abuse? Now loneliness has caused you to edit that out? How are you fantasizing and romanticizing about the community with people that were not moving you closer to God, and you're fantasizing about that? You edit it out every night, throwing up over a toilet, because you hung over? This is the trick of the enemy to get you to edit in your memory. We do it all the time. It's what psychologists call peak-end moments, that our brains do not capture things in our past like it's video footage.

We will edit it and decide what the highlights are. I remember when we took our baby girl, Evie, for the first time to Disney. Took her to Disney. She was like two, I think, and bubba boy, he was just not much younger than her. Back to back, and we're like, we're gonna go to Disney. And if I think about that trip, I'm like, oh, that Disney trip was amazing. But if I really think about it, that was the Disney trip from hell, y'all. Oh, I'm telling, if I really think about it, I think PT was pregnant with our third, and here we are, she's pregnant, and we got a two-year-old, and bubba's just not much younger than that, and we're all going to Disney. It's like a heat wave in California. It's feeling like Texas in California. I'm like, this is why I came out here, to escape it. It was so hot. There were lines everywhere. I forgot how much it costs to go to Disney, that you gotta sell a kidney to get into Disney. It was insane. We're on the shuttle, getting ready to go to the happiest place in the world, and that's when Evie has an accident. I mean everywhere on the shuttle ride. So we have to take her into the Disney store

and buy the little princess outfit not to have a magical moment. She didn't have nothing else to wear. I'm looking at her like, did you do this on purpose? How is it when I look back at that memory? I don't remember any of that. If I just look at the memory, here's what I remember. I remember this moment right here. That's what I remember. I edited out all the other stuff because I remember the moment she saw Doc McStuffins. She realized Doc McStuffins was real. And so I edited everything else out, the stuff on the shuttle. And I just think about Doc McStuffins. And the trick of the enemy is to get you to edit out the stuff on the shuttle. So you'll only think about that one moment. This is what the Israelites are doing. And let me tell you how dangerous it is. Because when your trust expires, not only will you edit with your memory, it will mess with every tense of your life. When your trust expires, it will mess with the past tense, the present tense, and the future tense of your life. Can I show it to you real quick in Exodus, verse number three? Because here's what you'll do. You'll rewrite the past, you'll misread the present,

and then you'll decide the future. When your trust expires, you will rewrite the past, misread the present, and then you'll decide your future. Can you prove that in the text? Yes, I can. Verse number three, look at it. If only the Lord had killed us back in Egypt, they moaned, there we sat around pots filled with meat and ate all the bread we wanted. You see it? Right there, they're rewriting the past. Man, we weren't in slavery, it was a buffet. Then they say, but now you, Moses, have brought us into this wilderness. Time out. Moses did not pick bringing y'all out here. He didn't even wanna do it. He told God at the burning bush, pick somebody else. Oh, that's another sermon for another day. When people are frustrated with you and you ain't even picked the thing. What is this therapy up here? I didn't ask you for this. Why y'all yelling at me? Moses did not ask to be a mega church pastor. God just picked him for it. So you see how they are misinterpreting and misreading the present? Moses, you brought us out here.

Moses was like, no, I didn't. God, these your people, you take them. Watch it, it doesn't stop there. Keep going. Back to the verse. Put it back. Verse three. Yeah. Uh-uh, no, not that. Back to verse three. Yeah. He says, but now you brought us into this wilderness to starve us all to death. See how you start editing the future? Who said you gonna die? Who said that? God didn't say that? God didn't tell you you were going to die. You just have not made the distinction between your circumstance and your conclusion. There is a difference between your circumstance and your conclusion. Your circumstance is you're hungry. Your conclusion is you're going to die. But what if your circumstance was I'm hungry, but my conclusion is God has been faithful before. He's gonna be faithful now. I just gotta trust him. Who told you you were going to die? I don't know who this is for,

but stop deciding your future when God says that is not the conclusion. Who told you you can't find a good spouse? Who told you you'll never be set free? Who told you you are always gonna be addicted? Who told you this has to run in your family? Who told you that's just your personality? Who told you that's just the way it is? Who told you you can't have children? Who told you that? Not God. He is the author and the perfecter of your faith and my story's not over until God says it is. Who told you that? Don't start deciding your future. They said, we gonna die. That's not how your story's gonna end. I gotta hurry, watch what happens next. After they accused God of starving him to death, again, if it's me, fire from heaven, extra crispy. I'm gonna bring you out and you're gonna complain? God, God does not come back to their accusations with anger. See, I'm laughing, but you need to know the character of your God. Cause some of y'all think that, that is not his character. He responds to those accusations with provision. You don't think I'm for you? Let me show you how much I'm for you. I'm about to, you want meat and bread? Is that what you want?

You want meat and bread? All right, don't believe me, just watch. Verse 13, verse 13, it says, that evening, vast numbers of quail flew in and covered the camp. Quail, you want meat? Quail was a bird, here you go, bam. Quail, I'mma bail on the quail, not the kill. We're in a fast. I'mma bail, I'mma bail on the quail because Exodus doesn't spend that much time talking about the quail. I think the quail just satisfied their craving for meat cause God's saying, I got you. I do want to land on this manna because the manna becomes the story. The manna was going to teach them to trust God. Verse 14 says, when the dew evaporated, a flaky substance as fine as frost blanketed the ground. A flaky substance as fine as frost blanketed the ground. In full disclosure, I have preached about manna before. I have preached about this. The Bible even calls the manna the bread from heaven. Your boy has preached on manna before. And every time I preach about manna and every time I've seen manna, I have visualized it because the Bible says it was bread from heaven. Here's how I visualized it. As bread, not any kind of bread, wonder bread.

He's a wonder in my soul. This is how I preach. And this is how most people see the bread. He gave them bread. It was wonder bread. In my mind, God was just out there with Lowe's pulling the Oprah. You get bread, you get bread, you get bread. Everybody gets bread, okay? But let's be true to our text. Verse 14, it says, when the dew evaporated, a flaky substance as fine as frost blanketed the ground. This ain't a flaky substance as fine as frost. The Bible says what it looked like. It was flaky and fine as frost. You got flakes and you got frost. Flakes and frost. What if it didn't look like this? You don't know what I got back here. But it looked like this. They're great. What if it looked like this? Now, don't clip me. I see some of y'all. I see you. Do not clip me and say, you hear the pastor? Where'd he get his theology? Oh, he told us today that they were eating frosted flakes. Kellogg's Frost. But no, that's not what I'm saying.

I read the book of Numbers too. I know that it looked like coriander seed. I know that it was white. I know what the manna looked like. I know it didn't look like this. But I also know they didn't know what manna looked like either. They didn't know what manna looked like. So much so, when it showed up, they called it manna. Manna is not a noun. Manna means what is it? They didn't know what it was. So they were believing God for a provision that they didn't even have a name for. And if you don't have a name for it, how do you know when it shows up in your life? They were believing God for bread, but when it showed up, it didn't look like bread. And I wonder if sometimes in our life, we're believing God for provision and he brings the provision, but we're looking for another provision, and God says, I gave you what you needed. You just don't know what to look for. Oh, how many of you know, these two things aren't on the same aisle? And sometimes you're looking down the aisle of bread, talking about, God, where's my bread? And God says, I got some frosted flakes that you don't know about.

You can be looking for the provision of God, thinking he didn't show up because you were looking for this. And he said, I gave you this and it's great. But you won't see it if you're not looking for it. They said, what is this? They didn't know to look for this. Are you looking for the provision of God, but you've already determined what the provision would be? So you expect an increase, but you've determined that the increase has to be raised at the job that you're in. so you can't see God's hand and you losing your job and going through a season where you got to cut back get the budget that you should have had in the first place because he has something in store for you in the future and now you have a system to sustain the blessing he's about to give you I don't know who that's for but that wasn't in my notes have you already determined what the provision is that you don't see you've already determined how you want him to answer you've already determined what door you think he should open because you're telling God I wanted to be an automatic door no I know you can open doors but God I'm looking for automatic doors don't you love an automatic door because you just walk up to it and it opens more often than not God will give you a regular door that is open and you got to reach out your hands and turn the knob and open it I'll show it to you in the text the same God that rained the manna down from heaven is the same God that says you gotta get up every single morning and you gotta go gather the manna you gotta get it come on you know God could have put the manna right in their stomach if he wanted to he could have brought it right by their bed but God said that's not how I work I want you to participate in my provision you gotta get up and go get the manna who am I preaching to today are y'all awake go

get the manna go apply for the job go step out in faith stop waiting on God he's waiting on you go go get it go get every morning I'm landing come on morning God would make this frosted flakes appear on the ground oh when was it when was it in the morning not the evening the morning it would even evaporate midday first thing God says I want the first thing on your mind when you wake up to be my provision for you I want the first thing on your mind is not you scrolling and worrying but remembering that he gave you enough it was where it was on the on the ground that means I can't be cute and try to pick this up from up here that means in the morning I got to get down I gotta get down on my knees in the morning in the wilderness and I'm scared and I don't know if you're gonna come through I gotta get up in the morning and say thank God for this man thank God for the manna it came in the morning and they uh they had to gather it everybody had to get enough for their family it's interesting because it was just enough for that day but you know how people are some people like who I got a big family I'm gonna get a whole lot you know some people were like I don't have as big as hands as them I can only get a little bit but don't miss the miracle those who gather too much and even those who gather too little the miracle is when it was measured it was just enough just enough what is God teaching them the miracle of enough the miracle of contentment I wonder how much stress would be alleviated in your life if you realize that God has actually already provided what you need you're stressed out over a greed it was just enough and they brought it in and here's what's interesting it was just enough for that day They could not keep it to the next morning. They couldn't keep it just for that day. If you keep it to the next morning, you're disobeying my commandment. Just eat enough for the day. But you know people.

Somebody got what they needed for that day and said, that man, it came through today. But how do I know it's gonna come again tomorrow? God, I don't know. I don't care what Moses said. I'm gonna eat a little bit now. And I'm gonna pack me. Oh, you know them Ziploc saints. That's your backup plan. It's like, I know God told me to take a step of faith, but just in case, I'm gonna tell my job, hey, you know, I'm still available. Ziploc is your backup plan. To convince yourself it's okay to disobey his word. And what's interesting about the Ziploc plan is the next morning, they looked at it. Ooh, I can't wait. Ooh, them Frosted Flakes was good yesterday. I'm gonna get some more today. Oh my goodness. Maggots. Worms. Because I want you to understand, I am your daily dependent. Yes. Can we get monthly manna? Can we get manna for a year? No. Daily. Because I want you to depend on me.

However, on the sixth day, I do want you to get double. Wait. Just when I realized that I need just enough manna for that day and don't keep the manna, now on the sixth day, you saying get double? God, I'm afraid. Last time I kept it, it turned into maggots. Are you sure? No, no, no. On the sixth day, double. Can you see them obeying? Scared the next day? Last time, it stunk. I remember this, man. But all of a sudden, they wake up on the Sabbath, no maggots. The same provision that couldn't last one night on the other days, now all of a sudden, on the day that God said, it lasts. It's not about the manna. It's about my obedience to what God said. Can I take you deeper? At the end of the chapter, God then tells Moses, I want you to get some of that manna and put it in a container. Watch this. So generations will know that I was faithful.

Wait a minute. The manna that wouldn't last overnight during the weekday, but all of a sudden will last on the day before the Sabbath. Now you telling me there's manna that's gonna last for generations now? How in the world is it gonna last for generations? Because it's never been about the manna. It's always been about you obeying my word and trusting me. And I want generations in the future to know that I was faithful, that I showed up, that your trust shouldn't expire. Oh, can I prophesy over our building at 10110 Technology Boulevard? It's bigger than a building. It will be a testimony of the faithfulness of God that he showed up because the church just obeyed the word of God. It's a testimony that you can trust him. It's a testimony that you can depend on him. This is what trust looks like. That when he says, save it, save it. When he says, give it, give it. When he says, work, work. When he says, rest, rest. Trust is ordering my world and my life around what God said. Trust is when I order my life around what he said and not only will I have a testimony of his faithfulness, generations that you have yet to see

will have a testimony that God can be trusted. Would you stand to your feet all over this place today and come on, give God one more hand clap of praise in this place. Come on, you can do better than that. Could you praise him like you know? He's trustworthy. He's trustworthy. He's trustworthy. I'm gonna ask everybody to just be still in this moment. Critical question. Has your trust expired? And what did it take for your trust to expire? Did it expire when the money got funny? Did your trust expire when you cried out to God for your mama to be healed? Because he didn't heal her the way you wanted him to do it. Now your trust has expired. Did your trust expire when you got hurt? I don't know what happened to cause your trust to expire, but I am begging you today to put your trust, put your dependence on him. I don't know why he doesn't give us manna for a year. I don't know why he doesn't do monthly manna. Other than the fact he wants you to be dependent on him. Give us this day our daily bread. You know you're graduating your trust when you can look at your life and say, he is enough. Jesus is enough. That Jesus plus nothing equals absolutely everything.

So I'm gonna ask in this moment, heads be bowed and eyes be closed. I believe God's gonna take us on a powerful journey in this series, Trust Issues. But today I wanna talk to a couple of people. If you're here today and you say, hey PR, I realized my trust had an expiration date. Some of you wonder why you're so busy, but you're still stressed out because you've been trying to do it in your own strength and hoard and keep it and it's not working because trust is obeying his word. If you're here today and you be so honest, or maybe you're watching this on YouTube right now, say, man, my trust had an expiration date. And today I need to put my full confidence, my full trust back in him. I need the grace and the strength to trust him more and more. If that's you, would you just lift up your hand high enough and long enough to where I could see it? Yeah. Thank you, God. Yeah. Hands going up all over this place. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, God. Thank you, Lord. That's why the songwriter wrote, oh, for grace to trust him more and more.

I'm not denying the pain you've been through. I'm not trying to trivialize your trauma, but the reality is life comes down to this question. Do you trust God or not? He's saying, put your trust in me. Anybody else? Thank you, God. Put it right back down. Head still bound, eyes still closed. There's some of you in here today, God has brought you out. He set you free. He's delivered you just like the children of Israel, but your memory has started to edit and romanticize your past. And the enemy has convinced you that the old way was better. Was it better or was it just familiar? And now you're trying to go back and God ordained and orchestrated you to be here today because you can't go back. I know Egypt feels familiar. I know you have edited out the chains and the pain, and you're just thinking about the food, but you can't go back. God has so much more in front of you than what's been behind you. If you're here today and you say, I've been editing my memory and I've been trying to go back,

and today I want the strength to keep moving forward. If that's you, would you just lift up your hand today as a sign and say, God, I'm not going back. I'm not going back. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, thank you. I see those hands. I see those hands. Hear me, this is the power of a life-giving community. You need a church. You need people around you that are gonna encourage you to keep moving forward and not go back. Thank you, God. Anybody else? Last thing, heads down, I'll still close. I know you think you gotta get yourself together to come to God. You can't get yourself together. You would have done it by now. They couldn't save themselves from Egypt. God had to do it. Surrendered my life to Jesus, but today I need to give him everything if that's you Would you just lift up your hand without fear or without shame? Thank you. Jesus. I see that hand I see that hand. I see that hand hands are going up all over this place today. Thank you. God. Thank you

Thank you. God. That's what God wants. Just respond Just respond. How do you get over your trust issues? Keep on trusting? Keep on trusting Anybody else I want to include all of us in this closing prayer We're all going to say it as a family, but especially those of you who responded saying today I need to give him my life. I am leaving my past Egypt behind. I'm walking forward in Relationship with Jesus. Come on. Let's say this all as a family, but especially those of you who responded Would you say this say Jesus I? need you I Cannot do life without you Because you are my life You're the bread of life And you satisfy So Jesus today I Surrender I believe That you lived the life That I was supposed to live and you died the death That I was supposed to die You took my place So my response Is to give you everything Forgive me of my sin Make me brand new from this moment forward I'm walking with you my trust Has no expiration It's just in you in Jesus name
