Four Christmases Threeology: Episode 1

Revelation isn’t a book we normally turn to during the Advent season. Its imagery of dragons, beasts, and other fantastical creatures feels more suited for Halloween than it does for Christmas. And yet, it contains some of the most powerful imagery about the birth of Jesus. John’s vision in Revelation 12 reminds us that the Nativity is more than just an indyllic pastoral scene. The arrival of Jesus into this world is an act of war! God becoming flesh and walking among us is about more than incarnation; it is invasion! Jesus’ birth represents God’s ultimate incursion into the sin and darkness of this world. Though our Enemy did everything in his power to stop it, all of history was building towards Christmas Day.
