Vamos, que alguien. Lo aceptaremos. Bueno, amigos, ahora mismo hay muchas risas en nuestra familia. Mucha alegría en nuestra casa. Estoy muy ilusionado con la temporada que estamos viviendo.

Y también estamos entusiasmados por las 720 personas que dijeron sí a las aguas del bautismo. Vamos. Eso es asombroso. Pero ¿cuántos de ustedes saben eso? Por emocionante que sea, eso es solo el comienzo del camino, ¿verdad? Y puede que estés aquí hoy. Y tal vez fuiste uno de los 720. O tal vez eres uno de los que entregaron su vida al Señor en Pascua o rededicaron su compromiso. Celebramos lo que Dios ha hecho. Pero al mismo tiempo queremos estar expectantes por lo que Dios aún va a hacer. Porque este es un viaje en el que estaremos hasta que estemos en la eternidad con el Señor. Y creo que dentro de ese contexto se establece perfectamente la tensión de la que queremos hablar hoy. En lo que respecta a algo muy presente en nuestra sociedad que es este deseo que tenemos, este deseo innato de ser vistos, de ser reconocidos. Vamos, alguien, ser ese chico o ser esa chica. De hecho, la semana pasada, mientras trabajaba en este mensaje, estaba en Starbucks estudiando y pedí una bebida. ¿Y saben cómo es? En Starbucks, si estás adentro, puedes mirar más allá de la barra

y ver la ventana del drive-thru y ver quién está llegando. Así que estoy esperando mi pedido tranquilamente. Estoy mirando por la ventana. Y una señora llega y es muy animada. Está emocionada, riendo y hablando con el empleado. Y noté que tenía algo de dinero en la mano, algo de efectivo. Y ella extiende la mano por la ventana para dejarlo en el frasco de propinas. Luego retira la mano. Y yo pienso, bueno, eso fue raro. Así que estoy aquí, soy curioso, soy curioso. Sentado ahí, mirando, mi bebida ya estaba lista. Dije que yo la recogía. Espera. Y yo estoy sentado ahí, literalmente trabajando en este mensaje, justo ahí. Y yo pienso, Señor, mírate dándome ilustraciones en tiempo real, en este lobby de Starbucks. Vamos, ¿qué estás haciendo? Y me atrevería a decir que ese tipo de comportamiento, en realidad, esa actitud del corazón, no es algo que solo sucede en el autoservicio de Starbucks. Este es un comportamiento, es una actitud que está desenfrenada en toda nuestra sociedad y en nuestra cultura. ¿Por qué? Porque no sé si te has dado cuenta de esto, pero vivimos en un mundo que te recompensa por crecer. ¿Verdad? Lo escuchamos todo el tiempo. Haz crecer tu marca. Haz crecer tu voz. Haz crecer tu plataforma. Necesitas más visibilidad. Necesitas fortalecer y construir tu influencia. Y el resultado de eso es una generación de personas que ansían los me gusta y luchan por tener más seguidores, ¿verdad? La mayoría de, ya saben, la mayoría de mis santos experimentados, ya saben, aquellos que han visto muchas lunas, suelen decir cosas como, bueno, es todo eso. Las redes sociales. Es ese TikTok.

Es ese InstaChat, ¿verdad? And when I heard that, I would say, of course, absolutely. I mean, it doesn't help. Social media doesn't help with the problem of the heart, right? But let me tell you this. Please don't be fooled into believing the lie that this self-promotion pattern is only a problem of social media. No, no, no. When we examined the scriptures, we discovered that this impulse of self-promotion and elevation, listen, friends, is one of the oldest books of Satan and one of the oldest tricks that exist, right? At any time in history, a man has adopted the position of I will rise above others, or I will surpass myself. In the scriptures, it never ends well. We look back in Genesis chapter 11, in the Tower of Babel, right? People said, come on, let's build a city for ourselves and let's build a tower that reaches the sky. And I quote, so we can make ourselves a name. They said, we must grow up. And God answered by dispersing them all over the world. And if that is not enough, we can go back a few more chapters to Genesis chapter 3, in the fall of humanity in the garden. We all know that story, right? But what we don't realize is that Satan didn't tempt Adam and Eve with the fruit. He tempted them with elevation and promotion. You see, the fruit was only the superficial problem. But underneath that, there was a root problem. And Satan said to them,

God knows that if you eat this fruit, you will be like God. And they said, yes, I will grow up. And that cost them paradise on earth. And that's not all! All of this goes back to the eternity of past times, long before creation existed. As we know, the Bible tells us that there was an angelic creature in the heavenly abode called Lucifer. And the prophet Isaiah, many years later, prophesied and gave us a vision of this cosmic history from the past eternity. Listen to this. He says, How have you fallen from heaven, O Lucero, son of the morning? You have been thrown to the earth. You who destroyed the nations of the world. Look at this. Because you said in your heart, Lucifer, I will ascend to heaven and I will place my throne above the stars of God. I will reside in the mountain of the gods, far in the north. I will ascend to the highest heavens and I will be like the Most High. But instead, you will be taken to the place of the dead, to the deepest of their abysses. Can I tell you something? This attitude of seeking elevation and promotion is so dangerous and serious for our walk with Jesus. Think about this for a moment. The reason why hell doesn't even exist is because someone was in the presence of God and yet had the audacity to say,

I must grow bigger. The reason why we have sickness, ailments, famine and war on earth is because people, two individuals, were in the presence of God and yet were not satisfied and said, I will grow bigger. So no, family. Social media didn't create this problem. Social media only gave us a marker. I like them, that's fine. I like followers, shared, republications. It gave us something to measure this innate desire. But listen to me when I tell you, my friend, I have come to this house to remind someone in this place that although the world says, promote yourself, the kingdom of God says, humiliate yourself. Listen to me. The world will tell you that no one will give you anything. So, dear, it's better that you get up, go out and get something. But the last time I read my Bible, I remember reading that those who wait for the Lord will never be ashamed, right? The world says, build your audience, but my Bible tells me that I act for a single audience. A single king who receives all the glory, right?

So, new believers, listen to me. I know that many of you here now, and also those who are connected online, may be wondering, well, what is the next step? It's like, I just became saved. I don't know what I'm doing. How do I take the next step in my path? Well, wait a moment before you take that step and I will give you a perspective to consider. That will be the basis for every step you take. It is essential that you understand that the specific way in which the king does things is totally opposite and counter-cultural compared to the way in which the world usually does things. That reality... and that truth are fundamental for your walk with the Lord. So what I want to do today is go deeper into the text and answer this question. So, how can we remain humble in the midst of a world that always calls us to go higher? So let's go deeper. We're in the book of John. If you're new to Victory, we're in the book of John this year. I don't know about you, but I've enjoyed the series a lot so far. And you? It's been good. It's been good. So I want to go back to where we left off. John chapter 3, verse 27. Let's see, am I in the right place?

No. John 3, verse 22. Here it is. After this, Jesus and his disciples went to the Jewish countryside, where he spent some time with them and baptized them. On the other hand, John was also baptizing in Anon, near Salim, because there was abundant water there and people went there to be baptized. And this happened before John was put in jail. I was talking about John the Baptist, okay? Follow me. In verse 25 it says, Then a discussion arose among some of John's disciples and a certain Jew about the subject of ceremonial purification. Then they came to John and said to him, Rabbi, look, that man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan River, whom you yourself gave testimony before, it turns out that now he is baptizing and everyone goes to him. Look, now he is baptizing people and now everyone goes to him. Let's pause there for a moment. I want you to understand the context of what is happening here, okay? Is it that good? So, what is happening is this. John the Baptist has been submerging people in the Jordan for a long time now. He has been proclaiming the coming of the Messiah. His ministry was prospering. He had disciples, followers, all of that. And Jesus appears on the scene. John makes it clear that Jesus is that guy. He is the one I have been talking about, right? He baptizes Jesus in that beautiful moment that we have all read in the Scriptures.

But if we advance in time, now Jesus and his disciples appear and also baptize people, right? So, what we have are two ministerial movements that develop simultaneously. Sotavento. Very close to each other. Are you all with me? Very good. Now, in the midst of all of that, one would think that everyone is celebrating. We are excited. People are repenting. They are being baptized. But in the midst of all of that, John's disciples approach him and say, Brother... Listen to me, John. This man, Jesus, is taking all of your people, brother. I mean, John, come on. You are losing your influence, John. You are losing numbers, John. This guy, everyone is going with this Jesus, John. What are you going to do? John, if you don't change something, if you don't say something, if you don't do something, if you don't promote yourself, we need a new marketing strategy, John. John, what are we going to do? And I love the answer that John gave to his disciples. And that is where we are going to stop today. Oh, this is good. Are you ready for this? Listen to what John says in verse 27. He says, You yourselves can give testimony of that.

I said, I am not the Messiah, but I have been sent before him. The bride belongs to the groom. And the faithful friend who accompanies and serves the groom, waits calmly and listens to him. And he is filled with immense joy every time he hears the bridegroom's voice. And John says, And now that Jesus has finally manifested himself, he says, Because he must make himself greater. I must make myself less. I don't want you to continue like this, but continue like this if you don't care. I don't want you to overlook the precision of the language used in that last passage that you see highlighted. Because if I'm going to be honest, for many years I have misquoted this verse. And many Christians, many pastors, many leaders, all well-intentioned, have misquoted this passage. Perhaps you yourself have pronounced this well-known phrase over the years at some point. It is necessary for me to diminish so that Jesus can grow. But that is not what John said here. John the Baptist declared, It must grow in importance, and I must diminish my own prominence. One point after both statements. Can I explain it clearly? Let me help you in this service of the eleven. Listen to me, friends. Don't be fooled, not even for a moment, by believing that lie. That the infinite greatness of God, His immense magnitude, His magnificence, and His power depend on a personal decision that you make or don't make. Why? No. Why?

Because Jesus has always been greater. Today, Jesus is still greater. And in twenty years, guess what? Jesus will continue to be greater at all times. As my grandmother used to say, God is good by himself. He doesn't go by himself or by himself. Jesus doesn't need our help to become more glorious or more powerful. Listen to me carefully. The value of Jesus, His omnipotence, His infinite wisdom, the magnitude of His character, all of that together is part of His intrinsic value. Do you understand? Taking all of that into account, the fact that I decide or don't decide to surrender and stay down, doesn't change at all, nor can it change the essence of His own character. He is God by Himself, with or without my help. You are not answering me in this service, but I will continue to preach. Listen to me. However, the question we must ask ourselves is this. If it turns out that He is who says He is, then that is all. The question I have to ask myself is this. Is my life centered on Jesus, thus magnifying what is already true about Him, or is my life centered on me?

And do I only take Jesus with me on the way? Oof, you know, as if Jesus were just a small complement to what I already have underway. You know, my son is 14 years old. He is a businessman. He has his own business. Tomorrow he has a meeting, and he is going to that meeting. He will present a package to sell to that person. What he doesn't know is that after presenting that package, there are additional options. If you need it, you can pay this for that. If you want it, you can add this to that. That can work in business and economy. But in the Kingdom of God, listen to me, Jesus has no desire to be added to anyone's menu of extras. In your life and in mine, we don't choose the areas in which Jesus reigns. My friend, either He is the King of everything, or He is the King of nothing. And we have to reach that realization. Listen to me, young Christian. I want you to listen to me when I say this, because it is fundamental to what we are talking about today. I don't just mean being humble. I mean the importance of standing aside so that the glory of God can manifest fully in a world that is hurt and deeply broken. Amen. And how do we do it? How do we resolve this? I'm glad you asked. Now that I have finished my introduction, how do we remain humble in a world that pushes us to rise higher? Let's follow the example of John.

Let's review his answer. Line by line, precept by precept, right? Number one, first we have to define the source. In other words, we have to understand that I am not the Creator. I am only a receiver, isn't that right? It is fundamental that we understand that our help comes from the Lord. We don't build, form, or manufacture anything good in our lives. Everything we have comes from God. Look at what John said. When his jealous disciples approached him, he said, A person can only receive what is given to him from heaven. And look, John doesn't defend himself. He doesn't throw indirects at Jesus. He doesn't even recognize the comparison. He just makes a quiet statement that changes the world. That is, simply, everything I have, I didn't do it. Everything I have, I simply received it. Listen to me, church. Absolutely everything, everything you have, every little thing, absolutely everything you possess, has been given to you and trusted by God. It is a wonderful gift that you have received in your life. Whether you want to recognize it right now or not, and even if you are not fully aware of it yet. Entender eso, que escúchame, si Dios lo dio entonces sé que Dios puede sostenerlo, ¿verdad? ¿Y sabes lo que eso hace por mí? Ahora de repente Jace ya no tengo que luchar, no tengo que esforzarme ni desgastarme, no tengo que estresarme por lo que esa persona está haciendo o cómo le va a su negocio, mis competidores, mis hijos y mi esposa. No, no tengo que estresarme porque sé que si Dios lo dio él es quien lo sostiene. Ahora permítanme decirles esto porque hay algunos aquí hoy que se encuentran aquejados por una ansiedad incapacitante y pasamos la vida preocupándonos y estresándonos por lo que entra y lo que sale. Señor ¿dónde estás? No lo sé, deja que libere a alguien aquí en este lugar. Quizás esto no sea para ti sino para quien tienes al lado. ¿Puedo decirte algo? ¿Quieres saber por qué luchamos con la ansiedad en ese sentido? Aquí está la razón porque piensas que tú construiste esto y esto puede ser lo que sea que sea tu asunto y el problema con eso es que cuando sientes que tú lo construiste entonces sientes la presión de ser tú quien lo cargue pero si puedes vivir tu vida con la conciencia de que si Dios lo dio él lo va a sostener entonces también puedes decir que si Dios no lo da entonces cariño ni siquiera lo necesito quédate con tu ascenso, quédate con tu puerta abierta, quédate con tus seguidores, quédate con todo el ruido, dame a Jesús, escúchame joven cristiano, escúchame hermano, escúchame hijo, escúchame hija para mantenerte humilde en este mundo sin estorbar la obra de Jesús aquí tienes una cita de nuestro pastor fundador Dennis Rossi, es una frase muy inspiradora aquí va sin Dios no soy absolutamente nada, no sé nada y no tengo nada. ¿Qué te parece eso para tu afirmación diaria? oye, escribe eso en el espejo de tu baño, estás cepillándote los dientes en la mañana, no tengo nada, no soy nada vamos, tenemos que definir la fuente, yo no soy la fuente, todo lo que tengo lo recibí de Dios ¿están conmigo? sigamos adelante. We love loyalty, right? Yes, we love it. But these guys were so loyal that some of them had a hard time changing their loyalty from John to Jesus. And if I'm going to be honest with you, today we live in a society, in the world of the church, if I can be honest with you, where we still see a lot of that behavior happening today in the church, and especially in a city like Atlanta, where we look at these men of God, these pastors, these churches, and these movements,

and we say, oh, that's the man of God. Only my pastor preaches the truth. Only my church preaches the pure. Oh, no, no, if it doesn't come from my bishop. Can we fall in love so much with a container that we lose sight of what that container must point out in the first place? Are you kidding me? No. Listen to me, please, listen to me. I thank God for every faithful pastor who is in the pulpit proclaiming the pure truth of God. I thank the Lord for the foundation of churches. I thank the Lord for the Christian movements that are reaching millions. I thank God for the influencers who use their platform to bring people to the saving knowledge of Jesus. But let me tell you, church, that at the end of the day, they are only a man, they are only a woman, like you and like me. And I don't care how many followers you have. I don't care how far your network goes, or how much money your church has raised, or all the things you do. I can tell you that at the end of the day, when the name of Jesus is exalted,

it doesn't matter how charismatic you are as a preacher, or how talented you are as a teacher, or how successful you are as a businessman. In the name of Jesus, the Bible says that all knees will be bent, and all tongues will confess that only He is the Lord, that only He is God. And who am I, being just a man? To try to intervene in that? No, sir. Paul said it this way. He wrote to the church in Corinth. He said, what we preach is not to ourselves, but to Jesus Christ as Lord, and to us as simple servants because of Jesus. Because God, who said, may the light shine in the darkness, made His light shine in our hearts. Come on, thank God for that, right? He made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God reflected in the face of Christ. Friends, it is incredible that the eternal God has entrusted us with the revelation of all things. But look at what Paul says next. He says, but this great treasure that the Lord has given us,

we keep it in clay vessels. Said in a different way, this immense eternal power within the revelation has been entrusted to these humble broken glasses. With all our scars, with all our imperfections, with all our doubts, with all our questions. Why would God do it that way? Here is the explanation. To show and remind us that this power that surpasses everything comes directly from God and not from us. Are you with me today, church? That's why, my friend, listen to me. That's why I carry my own Bible. Some of you don't know what I'm talking about, but I grew up in a semi-African American church I know that in many Afro-American and Hispanic churches and in other cultures, the man or woman of God and the First Lady are greatly honored. Can I carry a Bible? Absolutely not. I'm fine. Can I tell you something? I don't need a shield because I have the armor of God, dear. And you know what? I have it on right now. So I don't have anything for you to carry.

Very well. There is no armor for you to carry. Because I am a man, just like any other man. And in fact, because of what my wife and I said to Victory Church more than five years ago in the interviews, I will never forget when we were up there watching the service. I saw the pastor. Pastor Johnson preached three passionate messages, giving his heart. And when I saw this man climb those stairs and stay in the vestibule, greeting everyone, praying with the people, and blessing the people. When I saw that, I told my wife, this is where we're going to come. Can I tell you something? It doesn't matter the influence. No one is above that. Can I tell you? The more God exalts you, the more God lifts you up, the more God really increases your voice and your influence. We shouldn't take ourselves to this place of self-sufficiency. No, no, no, quite the opposite. This should lead us to kneel with deep humility, saying,

God, how is it that you have chosen me to do what I am doing now? May all the glory and honor always be for God, who redeems the broken, sitting the lonely and the poor at the table with kings and princesses. You see, what I share is important for those who listen to me, here or online. It is vital for anyone who is leading others. Again, I am talking about parents who are guiding their home. If you are a mother guiding your children, influencer, coach, group leader, small group leader, influencer, artist, athlete, whoever you are, business owner, pastor, listen to me carefully. We are carrying the message, but we were never called or asked to be the message. And I want to say this next statement with the fear of God in my heart. Listen to me carefully, dear congregation. If my life causes you a greater impression on me than the one that leads you to submit to it, then I have failed you. As a pastor, I have failed you. I have failed you as a spiritual leader. Because at the end of the day, God did not put me in this world to collect fans. God did not put you on this earth

just to make you a fan, a terrestrial base. He has put us on this earth with the mission of training, training and sending disciples. He put us on this earth to build families, to transform communities, to reconcile cultures and to impact nations for the glory of God. And that includes me. That includes Pastor Johnson. It includes Pastor TJ and every person who is listening to my voice. Listen to me carefully, dear friend. If people need you to feel close to Jesus, then something is not working well. Something is not right. So, athletes, I am talking to you. Is Jesus really the Lord of your lives or is He just your brand partner? Leaders of small groups, when you have these conversations with your group, are you guiding them towards your opinions and perspectives or are you guiding them towards the word of God? Mothers, are you raising your children so that they need them or so that they know Him? Listen, fathers, you already know that I will always tell you things as they are. Because your role is so fundamental and so necessary in the home. Fathers, are you calling your children

and waiting for them to simply follow your steps and do the things that you did? Because that is what you know how to do? Or are you teaching your children to listen to the voice of God and to follow the only calling that is on their lives or hers? Leaders, let's reflect. What are we building? Are we building businesses and brands that focus exclusively on profits or are we building something that will make Jesus smile? Listen to me carefully, family. We have to resist the temptation to simply build around our personality and our charisma. Why? Because, listen to me, the influence that we have, as I said before, was given to us and it was given to us with a single purpose. The purpose of guiding people to the presence of God. Now, don't misinterpret what I'm saying. If you are in the business world, and listen, my friend, work hard, okay? The Bible says that a good man leaves inheritance to the children of his children, so work hard. Do what you are supposed to do, but my friend, do it with integrity. Do it with values that are rooted in the Scriptures. Go to the workplace, go to the meeting room, go to those places knowing that you are there, yes, to run a business,

yes, to make things happen, but my friend, before all of that, you are an ambassador of the kingdom of God, first and foremost. Right? Because, listen to me, your charisma is great.
