Dios Tiene El Control De Mi Paciencia
other Churches, churches in churches in and churches in David's David's David's David's David's David's David's David's David's David's David's David's David's David's David's David's something in your heart, all right? He starts doing something in your heart that wasn't there to make you look a little bit more like Jesus of Nazareth. That's the point for which God saved you, okay? And if there's one of the things that cost the most that the Holy Spirit wants to drill into your life as a disciple of the Messiah, it's a little word that the church has worn out so much, we have drained it of power, we have misinterpreted it, it's the famous patience.
Dale, levantala. Vamos a decirla otra vez.
Genesis chapter 40. I'm going to read you the first scene that I titled, Injustices of Life. Injustices of Life. I'll start with verse one of chapter 40. It goes like this. After a while, the chief of the cookers and the chief of the pharaoh's bakers offended their lord, the king. The pharaoh got angry with those two officials and put them in jail, where Jose was, in the palace of the captain of the guard. They remained in jail for a long time and the captain of the guard assigned them to Jose, who took care of them. One night, while they were in jail, the cook and the pharaoh's baker each had a dream, and each dream had its own meaning. When Jose saw them the next morning, he noticed that they both seemed worried. Verse seven. Why do you look so worried today? He asked them. And it is that last night we both had dreams,
they answered, but no one can tell us what they mean. The interpretation of dreams is a matter of God, said Jose. Come on, tell me what you dreamed. Then the chief of the cookers was the first to tell Jose his dream. In my dream, he said, I saw a vine, a vine is a plant of grapes, in front of me. The vine had three branches, which began to sprout and bloom, and in a short time, it produced mature bunches of grapes. I had the pharaoh's cup in my hand, and then I took a bunch of grapes and squeezed the juice in the cup, and then I put the cup in the pharaoh's hand. The dream means the following, said Jose, the three branches represent three days, and in three days, the pharaoh will raise you and put you back in your position as chief of his cookers. Until that first scene, which I called life's injustices, and I'll tell you how I came to that conclusion. For you to know, in this prison, this is not the typical prison anywhere, this was the prison, or the prison of, of the pharaoh's prison guards, okay? There they had also thrown Jose,
if you remember from last week, falsely accused. The thing is that there are two men who were in the high politics, who was one of the chiefs of the cuppers, the cupper was the one who tasted the wine before giving it to the pharaoh to make sure if it was poisoned or not, right? And there was also the chief of the bakers, the bakery, right? Of the pharaoh as well. The thing is that it doesn't tell us what crime these two boys committed, but something they did that made the pharaoh and the pharaoh threw them in prison. And in that same prison, as I mentioned at the beginning, who was there? There was our main character, Jose. You have to, if you're reading with me, you have to notice an injustice. A terrible injustice. Because these two men were thrown there for having dishonored who? The pharaoh. And Jose was thrown there for having dishonored who? No one. In fact, Jose was thrown there for having chosen not to dishonor his boss. So here you have two kinds of guys. The two bastards who are there because they deserve it, and Jose, who did the opposite,
and even so, they threw him in the same place. Injustice of life. Hasn't it filled you with annoyance and impotence when you get in the same bag with someone else and without asking you, without knowing how your story is, people assume the worst version of you and they put you in the same place as they put the other bastards who did what they did. That's pretty unfair that they put you there. And sometimes you think that as a follower of Christ, that's never going to happen to you. No, no, it's never going to happen to me. But I'm telling you, it's going to happen to you. Because it happened to Jose. He's in the same prison as everyone else, unjustly accused, unjustly put in the same bag as everyone else. But the injustice continues. Because the thing is, these two have a dream at night, and they assume that it's God who revealed it to them. Because it was such a coincidence that the two men had the same dream at the same night. The thing is that they appear with a face of despair, they didn't know what it meant. Jose, who's out there working, because, by the way, God was still with Jose, even though he was in an unjust situation,
God didn't leave. Can someone say amen or no to that? Attention, that's the most important thing in the whole story. Jose is in the midst of injustice, and God didn't go anywhere. The thing is that Jose comes and says, hey, what's wrong with you? You have a half-fallen face. And they say, yes, we had dreams, and none of us could go to the temple of the Egyptians to ask, what did God reveal to us? Rayo means the dreams we had. And they say, no, it's God who revealed it to us. And Jose says, don't worry. I have a personal relationship with the true God. And they say, what did God reveal to us? And that God is going to reveal to me the interpretation of his dreams. And they say, no, it's God who revealed it to us. OK. And they say, no, it's God who revealed it to us. And the copero tells him his dream. If you're following me, that's injustice number two. And I'm going to tell you why. Maybe you'll say, what's so unfair about that? I want you to think about it, put yourself in Jose's shoes for a moment. Ten years ago, Jose also had dreams. Do you remember him or not? Do you remember that Jose's story had started with him having dreams? In those dreams, God had told him that one day he was going to rule.
One day Jose was going to have authority, right? But then, God never appears talking. He gave me a dream. He revealed something to me. And he doesn't even show up. Now I'm unfairly in this jail. And suddenly, when God appears, he appears revealing dreams to whom? To someone else. And me? And my dreams? How unfair it feels when you feel like you're doing everything right, but the blessing falls on someone else. That hurts a lot. You're going to say, but I'm following Jesus. I'm fighting the good battle. I'm trying to obey. And I don't get anything from heaven. And it seems that these, who didn't even know the true God, now God appears, but singing to him the play of another game. And what about me? Unfair. It seemed as if, humanly speaking, as if life was making fun of Jose a little bit. I'm here, but not for you, so you can bless someone else. Ouch. If that seems hard to you, look at how it continues. Because the dream that the copero has, what is it? He has a dream in which, basically, Jose interprets, look, what you just dreamed means that in how many days? In three days, the pharaoh is going to lift your head
and he's going to give you your honor, your status, your job. You're going to have what you used to have. Bro, that has to hurt, and it has to hurt a lot. Bro, that's what God had promised me. Promised to whom? He promised me that. And I'm telling you. So you can understand the pain of this, I remembered this week a tragic story in which I, on a missionary trip, some Americans had gone to Argentina, I fell in love with a gringa. But obviously, that was a moment in my life when I fell in love with a girl every 1.5 weeks. But the thing is, that week I was delivered. And the thing is, it seemed like there was a connection, to speak in English. And that week was over. And the girl comes, saying goodbye to us at the airport, and she says, I've got something for you. I've got something for you. And I'm already saying, oh, I know. And she takes something out of her backpack, and she takes out a letter, you see? And I say, obviously, it's a love letter. You see, with the perfume they put on it. And when I receive it, she says, it's a love letter. It's a love letter. And I say, I know it's a love letter. And I get emotional. And she says, take it.
And I get emotional. And she says, could you give it to your friend Marcos? And I explode. Yes, I know you're asking yourself, did you go to the bathroom to read the letter? Yes, I did. And it was a love letter for my friend Marcos. Something that I dreamed was for me, I had to be, sadly, and perhaps ironically, the bearer of that letter for someone else. That hurts when you think that you are the object, the deserter of that letter. José is now interpreting to a copero that God is going to exalt him and honor him, even though God doesn't even show up for José. That must hurt. Those are the injustices of life. And you tell me, how do you resolve this? I'm not going to resolve it for you. Because the point of this whole story today is this. Patience is not that God will resolve the injustice. Do you know what patience is? It's continuing to do what only I can do. With a calm heart, no matter what happens, and I leave to God what only God can do. Still in the injustice? Still in the injustice. And it's not just in the injustice that God works patience. It's also in the wounds that resurface from the past. Because look at what it says.
Verse 14, this is what Jose tells him immediately about interpreting the dream. I ask you to remember me and do me a favor when things go well, says Jose to the chief of the coperos. Tell the pharaoh about me so that he takes me out of this place because they brought me kidnapped from my land, from the land of the Hebrews, and now I'm here in jail even though I didn't do anything wrong to deserve it. Can you connect with Jose for a moment or not? Try to connect with him. He's still hurt by what happened to him. More than a decade has passed, but he still feels like he was kidnapped from his land, and he's telling him, it's like, I'm asking you because I'm in this jail, and I don't know what he says. No, the guy has been there for a long time saying, please talk to me, connect me with a network, with the pharaoh, get me out of this rotten place that I don't deserve to be in, get me out of here. So I want you to read it. That says something to you. Jose's heart was still, what? Hurt. Does that bother you, dad? I'll ask you a question, now I'm going to get in the car. Does it bother you that a son of God, a follower of the Messiah, is hurt and is still carrying and carrying wounds from the past? Or are you going to tell me this morning, no, pastor, when you know Christ, the wounds go away.
Where do they go? No. Because I still see them everywhere. And the only thing that many versions of Christianity do, that are going around here, is to suppress the wounds, saying, you can't be sad. I feel that these people, if they had been in the Garden of Gethsemane with Jesus, do you remember that night when he was delivered? Do you remember that night when he was crying and says that he was sweating drops of blood, says the Bible? And when they ask him, he says to his disciples, I'm distressed to death. I feel that some Christians would have said to him, no, distressed, no, my brother. Prosperous, blessed, and always victorious. I'm sick of that version of Christianity. It seems so fake to me. I'm not saying that God doesn't prosper you, and God doesn't heal you, and God doesn't bless you. I'm not saying that. But what I'm saying is, patience doesn't work when it prospers you. Do you want prosperity all the time? Do you want it to be preached to you? What for? If prosperity in the best times is when your heart is most distracted. Look at me for a second. The patience of Jesus of Nazareth in your heart,
do you know when it works? When you're hurt, and you want to let go of everything, and you want to make very bad decisions, and fast. At that moment, it's when the patience of the Holy Spirit starts to drill your heart and form Christ in you. Can someone tell me? Can you hear me? Can you hear me? I read a biblical comment, which is what I always do when I prepare for the sermon. And a comment said, you see here, Joseph is acting from his flesh. For those who don't know what it means, in the new testament it says that you can act from the Holy Spirit, or from your own emotions. When you act from your own emotions, is to act from your flesh. We're not talking about a steak, we're talking about your human nature. Good. And a commenter said, you see, it's that Joseph is acting from his flesh, because he doesn't trust God, that's why he's asking the priest to make a network with the pharaoh. Do you know what I wanted to do this week? Maybe you think I have problems, and I do. I wanted to take that comment and throw it against the wall. Are you really going to tell me, are you going to criticize and crush Joseph?
He's a human being. When you're a son of God, you're still a son of Adam. You're still sick, in the body and in the heart. And you don't become immune to the wounds of the past or the present, just because you follow Christ. What I see in the church is that we're the worst. That's why we can't understand that Joseph is having a real bad time. Yes, he is. Let him. Let him have a bad time. Let him doubt and say, well, I don't know what God wants, but if you can talk to me about the pharaoh, better, because I don't know what I'm doing here. Let him have that moment. Have a little grace, daddy. You're still a son of Adam, and you're still hurting from the past, and sometimes you regurgitate the wounds from yesterday that you thought, because you were in the church, had healed on their own. They don't heal on their own. The Holy Spirit spends all your life healing them. And in the church, the only thing we know how to do is deny the pain, saying, no, no, nothing happened to me. No, no, I'm fine. I received Christ and I'm always prosperous. Or we minimize it. No, no, I already forgave.
I already forgave. Bro, look at your face, bro.
Okay, te van a matar.
Good, good job. Pretty good. Pretty good.
No sé si alguna vez te pasó.
The moment when you say, wait, wait, how can it be that I'm still doing the right thing, still loving God, and yet people still fail me? There are people who say, if there's someone in that church who fails me, I'm leaving. You know what the question is? Okay, leave if that's your rule, okay. Where are you going to go? That's what I'd like to know. Where? Where are you going to go so you can find, are you with me this morning, yes or no? Nick, you can come in. Where are you going to go so you can find that perfect, utopian place where no one makes you feel left out? You're the son of Adam, and the church is made of sons and daughters of Adam. We've all been hurt, and we've all been hurt, sometimes consciously, and sometimes without realizing it. The question for you this morning, look at me, if you're a son of God, and if Christ is in your life, and the Holy Spirit has filled you, the ingratitude of other people
is made to work patience in your life. The ingratitude of other people happens in many ways so that you say, okay, it hurts me, but I'm still doing what I can do. With a calm heart, no matter what happens, and I leave to God what only God can do. That's a lesson you learn in this football field, daddy, in injustice, in the wounds of the past, and in the ingratitude of other people. You don't learn this game in the stands, sitting and watching others do it. This game of patience, this that the Holy Spirit wants to do in your life, you only learn it in the oven. And you tell me this morning, but pastor, then there's no way out? God is not going to solve those injustices? God is not going to heal the wounds of my past? God is not going to deal with the ingrate people in my life? Of course he will, you'll see how the story continues, but I want to leave you in the tension, because in that tension is the place in which you are going to decide if you are going to mature as a son of God, or are you going to continue as an immature baby who doesn't want to grow up? That is the place in which you grow up, when things go wrong, when the kitchen burns. That is the place where you learn patience, true patience.
And when the Holy Spirit produces patience, you become a little more like, you know who? The Messiah, because of whose patience you are still alive this morning. Can someone say amen to that, yes or no? I want you to stand up, we are going to finish singing. And even with your eyes closed, no one looking. Both above and below, those who are watching also from their home, from the prison. I have a question to ask you, dear. Eyes closed, no one looking. Can the leaders come, who are going to minister this morning? Amen. Maybe the version of patience that you have, is a weak version, a version that does not work in your life. You are waiting for God to work patience as if he were always a firefighter who puts out your emotional fires. But that is not patience. It is not the patience that the Holy Spirit wants to work. The patience of the Holy Spirit is this, calm fidelity. Learn that in your wounds, in your difficulties, and in the injustices, in the people who have ingratitude in your life, even in that, the Holy Spirit is, is forming Christ in your life.
Do you know why? Because Christ himself learned from what he suffered. Christ himself learned patience. While he became a man, he learned to continue doing what only he could do with a calm heart. Leaving behind the past and letting God go, what only God could do. And if that was the path of your Messiah, why are you waiting for a different path? Ah, God's patience. Esa paciencia se logra quedándote donde estás and choosing vivir a Cristo, choosing Christ over your own emotions, escoger a Cristo por sobre tus propias emociones. But it's not true.
In my life I've been good
In my life I've been so faithful With my being in every breath I will sing of the goodness of God In my life I've been good In my life I've been so good With my being in every breath I will sing of the goodness of God In my life I've been good With my being in every breath I will sing of the goodness of God In my life I've been good With my being in every breath I will sing of the goodness of God In my life I've been good With my being in every breath I will sing of the goodness of God In my life I've been good With my being in every breath I will sing of the goodness of God In my life I've been good With my being in every breath I will sing of the goodness of God In my life I've been good With my being in every breath I will sing of the goodness of God In my life I've been good With my being in every breath Dear friend, thank you for joining us in our worship service.
