Mi primer papá, no puedo asumir que todos ustedes conocen mi historia ya, pero mi primer papá, mi papá biológico, el Señor se lo llevó en un accidente de auto hace muchísimos años, el primero de junio del año 2008. Luego de eso, dos, tres años más tarde, mi mamá tuvo la bendición de volver a casarse con un pastor que ahora mismo ya creo que tiene más de 40 años de experiencia como pastor en su iglesia en España, que también había pasado por una situación similar a la de mi padre. Los dos se unieron, el Señor los bendijo, está ministrando en España, el Señor lo usa a él y también obviamente con mi mamá, que viajan por todos lados para dar conferencias. Después de esto, si querés podés buscarlo en YouTube, hay un montón de enseñanzas que da mi segundo papá, Samuel Pérez Millos, y hoy tenemos la bendición de tenerlo en vivo. Así que yo les pido que pase, nomás. Lo que yo te animo que hagas también para los que están, un saludo, no se los di, perdón, no le di el saludo a la gente que nos está viendo. Yo les animo o les advierto que tomen nota. ¿Están listos o no? Dios los bendiga. Samuel, gracias. Sin duda alguna, Dios está en el control de la vida de todos los creyentes. Y el salvo dice que tiene una razón de ser, ha determinado una forma de vida y está detrás de toda esta situación, a veces buena, humanamente hablando, otras veces compleja, y esto es lo que Pablo decía hace un rato y que es mi experiencia personal. Dios controla todo y me ha dado la bendición en esta etapa de mi vida, después de partir a la presencia del Señor mi esposa Esther, de tener a la mujer más idónea que podría imaginarme para el ministerio. Pablo hablaba de tiempo de pastorado en la iglesia, la primera iglesia evangélica de Vigo, que tiene 150 años de existencia, no es que yo sea el pastor de 150 años atrás, pero ahí me crié, ahí viví, y el Señor me llamó al ministerio pastoral, este año, septiembre de este año, hará 45 años. Durante 40 años estuve de pastor, no sé cómo se llama por acá, pastor ejecutivo, el primer pastor de la iglesia durante 40 años.

La iglesia tuvo mucho aguante conmigo, y yo también con la iglesia. Pero es una bendición muy grande para Susana y para mí estar esta mañana aquí. La primera vez que estuvimos, después de que Pablo se marchase de nuestro entorno en España, Pablo y Florencia, por supuesto, de nuestro entorno en España, estabais congregándose en una capillita muy linda, pero chiquitina, y todavía no se llenaba. Venimos la segunda vez, ya no era esa capilla, ya era otro lugar con más espacio, y Dios me da la bendición esta mañana de ver que Él está haciendo Su obra. La obra, la iglesia, es el resultado del definitivo programa y propósito de Jesús. Recordemos siempre que Él dice, yo, no tú, yo edificaré mi iglesia. Lo está haciendo. Él está cumpliendo Su palabra. Ahora, esta iglesia, no esta concretamente Su iglesia en la tierra, comienza con un desafío tremendo de Jesús. Le preguntan, están charlando de cosas del futuro, y Cristo dijo esto. ¿En esto conocerán todos que sois mis discípulos? ¿Cómo? ¿Por la doctrina que predicáis? At the beginning of the history of the Church, the Church began to study biblical doctrine, to know who God is, the Trinity, and all these things, and undoubtedly, it captivated the attention and the heart of many. But time goes by, doesn't it?

We are talking about 2,000 years ago. And the doctrine today is a rather theological expression. But when that doctrine that we believe does not become the life we live, we are losing time. What good is it for me to know a lot about the Trinity if I am living a life contrary to what He is doing intimately and externally? Therefore, the doctrine of the Trinity has to become life in my life, and live with reverent respect for the Father who is in me, with the Lord of Christ, who is the only Lord in my life and in the Church, and also with the connection of the Holy Spirit that produces the love of God in me. Do you understand this? We need to recover, not theology. We need to recover life. And one of the most unknown characters in the Church today, we have it in our songs. We talk about it very often. We say, He is powerful, etc., etc. One of the most unknown in the Church is Christ. And the Church speaks of Christ many times, sings about Christ, but in the Apocalypse a Church is presented that says, I have grown up, I have no need. And where is Christ? At the door of the Church. And He is saying to the believers, if anyone opens the door, I will enter him. But God is not in every believer, yes. But what He is saying is, it is necessary to restore your communion with me. If you want to be a victorious Church, because the victory of the Church is in this. I can do everything. In whom? In Christ, who strengthens me. Now, another very unknown divine person today is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit, the so-called conservative or biblical churches, talk a lot about his

perfections. This morning we could define the Holy Spirit by his power, by his omnipresence, by his majesty, by all the perfections of God. We could understand it that way. But the Holy Spirit is not to be defined. It is to be lived. And this is the great secret of what I need this morning, and you also, to recover in our lives. For this reason, Paul writes to us in this way, in the letter to the Galatians, in chapter 5 and in verse 16. Suzy, pass me the water, please. Forgive me, I never drink from the pulpit, but here in this land of yours, where you are, it is exhausting. The eyes cry, the mouth dries up, etc., etc., etc. Well, you have to get used to it, right? Good. Paul is telling the believers, the only way to Christian life is to live linked to whom? To the Holy Spirit. There is no doubt that the Holy Spirit, for some, is the force that is at their service to do what they want. And they call upon the Holy Spirit and say, I want to do this and that and beyond, and you have to respond to this request of mine. That is absurd. God is not at anyone's service. Others ignore it and turn it into a mere theological expression. That is why I want to take the liberty this morning to mention three things about the Holy Spirit. First, a few strokes on the doctrine of the Holy Spirit. God is a being.

He is not a person. He is a being. And in this being, three persons subsist eternally. The person of the Father, the person of the Son, and the person of the Holy Spirit. This is what we call trinity, a word that is not in the Bible, but which is the only way to express this tremendous mystery and this biblical revelation. When we come to study the trinity and study the divine persons, we realize something. The divine persons are individual. What do I mean? The Father is not the Son. The Son is not the Spirit. The Spirit is neither the Father nor the Son. They are individual. But they are never independent. Therefore, each divine person is linked to the other. And the presence of each one, I would say, to express it in a very colloquial way, drags the other two. That is why when we say that the Holy Spirit is in the Church, we are saying that the Most Holy Trinity is in the Church. Are you following me? Now, when we speak of the third divine person, the Holy Spirit, the Bible presents him as one of the people in whom God reveals himself. Is he a divine person? Yes. Within the One God? Yes.

Therefore, the Holy Spirit, in the first place, is God. He is in the triple name of the deity in the New Testament. For example, the apostle Paul sends, he asks the Church in Corinth for a blessing and speaks of the love of the Father, of the participation, of the link with the Son, and of the participation of the Spirit. God is present there. And the Holy Spirit is also present. I go to the Bible, I speak in my Bible, and I say, is he a person or not? And of course, using the name or the term person to refer to God is a problem. But we really don't have another one to speak of three individualities that are united and that are God. Now, this person, the person of the Holy Spirit, is attributed personal works. You open your Bible, you go to Romans chapter 8, and you read this, that the Holy Spirit intercedes for the believers. Then he has to be a person to be able to intercede. A force, as some call it out there, does not intercede for anyone. It can intercede. But something else. Paul says, do not grieve the Spirit. If I can grieve, it has to be a person. No one can say, look, I have offended your arm or your head.

No, you have offended me. It is clear? The Holy Spirit, therefore, is a person. And he has his own attributes of a person. The performance of the Holy Spirit permanently manifests a personal meaning in the works that he performs. Now, being God, he also has divine perfections. God has two types of perfections. Each of the divine people has two types of perfections. One, what are called communicable attributes. What is that? They are the perfections that exist in the divine people in an infinite degree, and in us in a limited degree. Is God love or not? Infinite or limited? Well, that infinite love of God is poured out on whom? In our hearts, Romans 5, 5. Therefore, that manifestation of infinite perfection comes to a limited experience, which is ours, but it is identical. That is why Jesus says, you have to love each other as I have loved you. That is impossible unless God Himself produces in us the perfection to love whom? All of us, or not? There is a verse in the Bible that I would like to find some original, I am looking for it, that does not have it, to say, see, this text was added to history, but it is not in the original, therefore it is not valid. And do you know which one is it? The one that says, Husbands, love your wives, what else? Just as Christ loved the Church.

And now comes the problem, the problem of love. The love of God always goes in a condition. Love your wives just as Christ loved the Church. It is even more intense, but it does not end there. And He gave Himself for her, that's how it is. That is, the husband does not have to tell the woman from time to time, I love you. He has to give his life to serve her, do you understand me? And this is the number one condition, so I don't like that text very much. It is not the expression of love that God establishes. Look, my dear brothers and sisters, I am tired of commandments, but God commands you to love, not in the sense of a commandment to be fulfilled, but a decision for the one who fulfills it, which is the Holy Spirit, to execute it in my life. Is that it or not? Because commandment after commandment, the modern Church has cornered things of doctrine and a binding relationship with divine people to establish their religious system, to establish their forms, their norms, and to put commandments. So a person is very holy when he does not do this, nor that, nor the other, nor the other beyond, but he forgets that the measure of holiness is not what the Church establishes. The measure of holiness is Christ, isn't it? Therefore, what I have to focus on in the teaching of the Church is that perfection is Christ, and who can take me to a perfection, not of that dimension, but to a perfection, is the Holy Spirit. Do you know why? Because the Holy Spirit has a mission that God has entrusted to him. Do you know what it is? In Romans 8, verse 29, it says that those whom God calls to salvation, He has determined, He has predestined them. For what? For them to be made according to whom? To the image of his Son.

When you travel a little bit around the world, you have a... At least I love to observe people at airports when they arrive in immigration. It is very curious. You go, you arrive at the immigration police station, and you take out your passport. The police is never at the same height as you, it is a little further away, and a little lower. That is why people do this, to see what the police are doing. And the policeman opens the passport, where? Where is the photograph? And he looks at you, and you say, what problem could I have? When I made the passport, I was a fat guy, now I am thin, I did not have a beard, now I have a beard, and the policeman looks again and says, well, it may be that it is. And you put the stamp, and you go in. Imagine, what I am going to say is not true. It is a... I'm going to give you an example, take it as you like. Imagine what the biblical text says, which is true. You have to be made according to what? To the image? Of whom? Of Christ. Now you arrive in heaven. You carry a passport in your pocket, a heavenly passport. Do you know why I say heavenly? Because your citizenship is where? In heaven. Well, and you go down the road, you take your passport from heaven, and you go down the road singing that old chorus that was sung when I was a boy. Singing on the road to heaven, full of joy, full of heart. With Christ I walk on the path, I enjoy your blessing.

And you go smiling and say, there it is. It's a bit like what happens to us, Susana, to me when we get back to Madrid. Entry line, European Union. And you go with your passport, good morning, pass, no more problems. You arrive in heaven and deliver your passport on the border of heaven. I don't know if there are borders in heaven. And the seraphim or the cherubim or the angel who is at the border that day of service looks at you and opens the passport and you are left blank. Because in the passport is not your image. There is the image of what? Of Christ. And he smiles and says, come in, and you say, what happened here? And you urgently look for a mirror in heaven. I don't know if there are mirrors in heaven. But you finally find one. And you look at yourself in the mirror and you are even more surprised. Because your image is no longer there. There is the image of Jesus. Do you understand this? This is Christian life. And who is reproducing this image? The Holy Spirit today, who is producing the fruit of the Spirit so that we can all be like whom? Christ. This is the great mission of the Holy Spirit, apart from the saving mission of the Holy Spirit. Secondly, I want to talk to you about that, about the action of the Spirit. There is no salvation without the action of the Holy Spirit. Because there is no salvation without the action of the Father either. No normal, natural man goes to the meeting of Christ for his own pleasure. It is not possible for his own condition.

Because there is no justice. There is no one, there is no one. There is no one who looks for God. Do you understand this? That is why the Father calls for you to rebel against God, to look for God. Are you following me? Good. Now, you have already heard the call of God, and you are deciding to walk towards Christ. Because the Holy Spirit is driving you to do that too. And you come to Christ. And what happens? It is not necessary for you to confess all your sins. First, you are not going to remember them. You just need to give your life to the Savior. Do you understand me? And the Savior receives you and gives you a hug in His grace and tells you, Trust, Son. Your sins are forgiven. But there is something else. There is still something missing in that experience of salvation. Because forgiveness of sins is essential. But there is something else. You also have to receive eternal life. That is possible. How can a limited being have eternal life? Eternal life is private and potent of God. Why? Because only He is eternal. Are you following me? So how can I have eternal life?

The Holy Spirit takes the one who has said to Christ, Forgive me and save me. He takes it and places it in Christ. So that living stone, the foundation of the Church, has what life? What life does Christ have? Eternal life. Because He is God. Are you following me? When they place you in Christ, the eternal life of God by the only mediator between God and men becomes your life experience. The apostle Peter writes about this and says that because of the many and precious promises we have received, we have come to be participants of what? Of the divine nature. Do you realize that your life this morning, as a son of God, is eternal life? And it is eternal life because you are in Christ and linked to Christ through the action of the Holy Spirit. Now, the Holy Spirit will do something else with the believer, with the newly converted, as we say. He will regenerate him. Talking about regeneration is very complicated. Not about spiritual regeneration in general. I have a problem, well, I have many, but I have a problem that is difficult for me to recognize, but it is obvious. Yesterday we were eating at a friend's house in the church, and look where, when I got into the car, I looked at my pants, and there was a stain of what? Of fat. They buy me clothes that have a passion for fat. This, as a good Galician, one of the Galician foods is potato. And I always have the habit of leaving the dish with the bite I like the most to eat it at the end. And they have prepared a dish of meat with round potatoes and a lot of sauce. And I sit at the table and say, Samuel, not a single stain today. And I get to the end and say, oh, not a single stain, how terrible. And suddenly I have the potato there, I grab my fork, I prick the potato, I pick up the potato, and the Murphy's Law. The potato breaks in the air, and where does it fall? In the fat. And where does the fat end? In my shirt, but if it has the whole table to stain it with fat, no, no, it stains my shirt. Well, all that problem, that problem that we have, indicates that we need a radical change in our way of understanding and in our way of being. I go to Christ and say, Lord, forgive me. Well, He has already forgiven me. But I need to live now a life of holiness and commitment to God. To be a Christian is to be regenerated by the Holy Spirit. Let's leave the stories of traditions, systems, and forms. I know a lot about that, because I am the fifth generation of evangelicals. My great-grandmother, the first one. And since then, I have come to know what it is like to be the offspring of a church that does not live in the power of the Spirit, but that wants to behave as if it were so. Only when the Spirit takes you and controls you, does it reproduce Christ in your life. What does Paul say? Walk in the Spirit. The term to walk has the connotation of life, of following. That is why he does not say, from time to time, that the Spirit controls you. He says, your lifestyle has to be the same as the Holy Spirit reproduces in you. Are you following me? I do not need to know the perfections of the Spirit, but I need to live in the Spirit. Are you following me? And this is what the Church of God needs today. The action of the Holy Spirit throughout the program, the project, and the form of the Church. The Holy Spirit of God produces in the Church. La gran necesidad de la iglesia hoy es menos sistema y más identificación con Cristo por medio del Espíritu Santo. Ahora, el Espíritu Santo es el que conduce la marcha de la iglesia, ¿sí o no? Yo creo que sí. ¿Quién es el gran ejemplo de Pablo? ¿Quiero predicar aquí? ¿El Espíritu qué le dice? No. ¿Quiero un poco? No. Y Pablo dice, pero, ¿qué va a ser? Y una noche Pablo recibe la visión del varón macedonio, recordáis la historia, ¿verdad? Y dice, tengo que ir a predicar a Europa, es donde el Espíritu de Dios quiere que vaya. Y sorprendentemente, la primera convertida en Europa era una asiática, donde él quería predicar, Lidia de Tiatira. Pablo está atento a la voz de quién? Del Espíritu, porque él continuamente desde su comienzo de vida cristiana tuvo una pregunta que formuló a Dios, Señor, ¿qué quieres que haga? En los últimos años de mi pastorado he caído muchas veces en un defecto, de decir, bueno, tengo que hacer esto, aquello, y la iglesia necesita hacer esto y aquello. Y yo decía, esto es lo que hay que hacer, hagámoslo. Tuve más fracasos en el ministerio que en toda mi vida, porque no es lo que yo quiero, es lo que él quiere. De modo que lo que necesita el liderazgo de la iglesia hoy, y tú en tu hogar y en tu vida personal, es levantarte y preguntarle a Dios qué, ¿qué quieres que haga? Y cuando estás actuando conforme a lo que él quiere que hagas, tienes victoria, si

no tienes fracasos muy a menudo. Necesitamos una reforma, hermanos queridos. Hace 500 años estuvo, se produjo la reforma, Martín Lutero, todos estos reformadores, y la iglesia cambió de una teología filosófica a una teología vivencial. La justificación por la fe dejó de ser una historia teológica para convertirse en una realidad evidente. Hace 500 años necesitamos urgentemente una reforma de la iglesia, en donde la iglesia se sitúe delante de Dios para preguntarle, ¿qué quieres que hagamos? Y el Espíritu Santo te indicará y la iglesia abrirá las ventanas de su tradición y echará la tradición a la calle, para entronizar a quién, a Cristo Señor de la iglesia. El Espíritu Santo en la santificación, y voy terminando, el Espíritu Santo en la santificación hace posible el mandamiento de Dios, sed santos, ¿por qué? Porque yo soy santo. Ya que no dice el texto bíblico, como yo soy santo, eso es imposible. O sería una imitación, dice, como yo estoy en If I'm a saint, you have to live my life and you have to be a saint, not out of obligation, but out of communion with Christ. How can I reach the fullness of the Spirit? I was once at the London airport many years ago, when I was working at the company, and

I knew that there was a bookstore at the airport. It had many books, but it had a department of evangelical books. And I went there, and I entered, and as soon as I got to the section, I saw a book like this. Book title, How to Reach the Fullness of Power. And I said, if I have to know this, everything, to reach the fullness of power, I will never reach it. The question is very simple, the Bible is very simple. First thing, do not be saddened by the Spirit. When are you saddened by the Spirit? When you have hidden sin in your life without confessing. When you have a spiritual secret that you do not want anyone to know, and you are living an appearance of piety, but you are denying the effectiveness of it. God is calling you this morning, you and me, to review your life and see if there is any hidden sin without confessing. In second place, do not turn off the Spirit, and the Spirit is turned off when He wants you to follow a path and you say, that is not my path. And you change route and course, and you do not live according to what He wants. And in third place, the commandment is positive, walk in the Spirit. What I tell you this morning, take your life and lead it by the paths of justice, for the love of His name. It is the occasion for which God brought you here today, not to listen to me, much less, He has brought you for an intimate dialogue with Christ. And that you say to the Lord this morning, Lord, I want to be like you. It is said that that great musician Mendelssohn spent some time in Scotland and Wales, and he went out early every Sunday and went to the churches of the country where there were organs of pipes, because he loved to hear the organ. And one day he entered a church, the organ was playing, and Mendelssohn went up the stairs where the organ console was, and he met an old organist who was playing the organ. And Mendelssohn approached him, touched his back and said, May I touch the organ for a moment, please? And the old man turned around and said, The organ is not for the organist!

And he kept playing. Mendelssohn had stayed there, and after a minute more, he said again, please, one minute. And the organist, half angry, said, One minute! And he said, I am Mendelssohn. And the man said, how foolish I have been, having here the great Mendelssohn, to want to play the organ. The only one who can make the organ of your life sound is the one who did it. He is the Holy Spirit of God, who calls you this morning to ask you, what are you going to do with me? Are you going to continue being a theorist of the Spirit, or are you going to say, Lord, I need you, govern and control my life, for my blessing and for the glory of your name? Let us pray. Dear Lord, thank you for the blessing that is to open the Bible, there is so much wealth, Lord. And I want to ask you this morning, with great humility, that these words that I have said in your name touch lives in this congregation. May your Spirit shake souls, and may there be a vital change in the life of each of us, so that tomorrow morning, if you don't come before, or the day after tomorrow, or whenever, we can see ourselves in the mirror of your Word, and say, I am a little more like Jesus.
