And if you are new here today, welcome. It is our prayer that God would speak directly to your heart while you are here today. Easter is a time where Christians gather all over the world to celebrate the greatest event that has ever taken place in the history of the world. What is that? It is the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Now, there are many of you who are here today

who you have staked your very lives on that truth. There are others who are here today who, when you hear me say that, you think, that's ridiculous. How could a dead man get back up? It defies human wisdom. It defies human logic. But here's what I tell you. Miracles cannot be understood, but they can be trusted. You see, the very hope of the Christian life is that God sent his only son, Jesus Christ, to a world desperately in need of him. Jesus lived a perfect life, and he ended up taking our place on the cross. And the death that you and I deserve because of our sin, he took upon himself willingly as a willing sacrifice. I think it's important to note this about the Easter story. At this point in the story, no one is expecting a resurrection. Now, I don't know if you've ever walked into a situation expecting one thing and something entirely different has happened. I've been married almost 21 years now, and one thing I've learned is that expectations can be a real problem in marriage or within a family setting. Often we expect something, and when it doesn't happen or when it goes unmet, we get frustrated, or even worse, sometimes we never even voice an expectation, but we just go along as if our family members should be able to read our minds. Anybody resonate with that? Especially you husbands resonate with that?

We often forget when we get to the resurrection story that it comes within the context of death. None of the disciples or even any of the other followers of Jesus was expecting things to turn around. In all reality, hope was lost. The man whom they had left everything to follow was now dead. The guy who worked miracles before their eyes was now in a tomb. And so nobody in this story is expecting life to come forth out of death, and yet God specializes in bringing hope to hopeless situations. Maybe you need that here today. That was true 2,000 years ago, and here's what I'd say, it's true even for you today in your own life. So as we dive into the book of Luke, I want us to pray as we open up to the Easter story right now. Lord Jesus, it is our prayer that you would bring hope to hopeless situations, that you would bring life out of death today. Would you do that in us now? It's in Christ's name that we pray, amen. Nick nos cantaba esa canción preciosa, ahora cuento yo qué, mi historia de cómo Él me salvó. I'm here with you this morning, dear. What is your story? If you were here to sing, and I'm not inviting you to sing, and I told you to sing about your story, what story are you going to sing about? What is your story? And in fact, in Luke 24, you're going to hear three voices. Three different voices that are going to tell you the same story, but from different places. Are you going to hear the voice of angels? Are you going to hear the voice of a woman? And are you going to hear the voice of a very interesting person, called Peter, with whom you may feel identified this morning. So if you have your Bible, or if you can't read it on the screen, I'm going to read to you Luke 24. I'm going to read verses 1 to 12, and then we're going to get into those three voices that give their own story of the resurrection. I'm going to read to you verse 1. Verse 1. They remembered what Jesus had said, so they ran back from the tomb to tell the eleven disciples and all the others what had happened. It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna,

Mary the mother of Saint James, and several other women who told the apostles what had happened. But the men in the story thought it was nonsense, and they did not believe them. However, Peter got up and ran to the tomb to see for himself. He bent down, looked inside, and saw only the empty canvases of linen. Then he returned home, wondering what had happened. That's it. So here are three voices that are giving you their own version of the resurrection. The first voice you see there is the voice of the angels. The angels tell you, this is my story. I'll tell you a little bit about what is happening here. It was Sunday, very early in the morning. We can assume that the previous Saturday had been the worst Saturday of these women's lives. Despite the fact that these women, all their ideals of what a Messiah was going to be, had been crushed into a thousand pieces. Their ideas, their dreams of a Messiah, had died just like their Messiah. And according to Jewish custom, they were ready to perfume the corpse, which is what we do today in different ways, so that it does not freeze, or as we say in Irapuato, Mexico,

so that it does not freeze. These women stayed on Friday night. They could not leave. Obviously, it was Shabbat. They could not go to the place. They were afraid. On Sunday morning, very early in the morning, they go looking for a corpse, and they do not even find a corpse. They go and find that there was a stone at the entrance. Remember that tombs were not like they are now, nor did people bury themselves like they do here. Tombs, in general, if you had a little money, were dug in a stone. And they assume, since that stone is moved, possibly that they were thieves who assumed, well, if this is a tomb of rich people, maybe those who were buried here had a lot of money, then we are going to rob them. That was normal among thieves. And yet, they did not know, because this tomb had naturally been given to Jesus the night he died. Then they go and find that the body of Jesus is not there. Bad news. They are terrified, white with fear, and the terror increases exponentially because they suddenly see two men dressed in shining garments. They were not thieves.

They were two men who, according to Matthew, according to his version of events, were angels. The angels in the Bible, both in the Old and New Testaments, are part of the body of Jesus. the counsel of God, like his staff. And the main responsibility of the angels, according to the whole Bible, is to be messengers. They have a message. They're the postal office, okay, USPS, of God. That's literally what the word angel, messenger, means. These angels bring a message and a single message. Listen to me carefully, listen to me carefully. Many of us have had spiritual experience or dreams or we know someone who had some kind of revelation from God or with an angel. It happened to me once that I was talking to a boy and he told me that he had had a dream in which God revealed hidden things to him. And I, you see, immediately I began to wonder what this bastard had eaten the night before. I say, and what was it that God revealed to you? And he says, he revealed to me that I don't need Jesus so much because I already have the Holy Spirit. And if I have the Holy Spirit, I don't need Jesus. And I look at him and I say, wow. And he says, do you think they were angels? I say, of course. Do you really think they were angels? Sure, they were angels. And what kind?

And the wrong side. They spoke to you. They answered your prayers. But they weren't from God's team. In the Bible, you will never see angels or spiritual beings giving a message that distracts from the crucified and resurrected person of Jesus. Never. They have only one message. And do you know what their message is? They are looking for the right person in the wrong place, mom. Jesus is not here because he died, but he is not a dead man. Because God is not a God of the dead, but a God of the living. Jesus resurrected. That is the only message that angels can give you. Or at least, the angels that are on God's side and not the other. Many of us want God to give us a kind of hidden message. I don't understand God's will. Lord, give me a message. Give me a message. But the angels of heaven, the divine staff, only have one thing to tell you. Remember what Jesus said. That's what they're saying. And the fact that they're saying, Jesus is not here, it's not a metaphor. It's not an idea that, oh, it's so kind and cute. You know, the memory of Jesus will always

stay in our hearts. They're not saying that. They're not saying that the memory of Jesus will stay in your little heart. They're not saying that the spirit of Jesus rose up. They're saying, there was a person who was dead, and now that person is not here. Jesus has risen. And that's why, if you ask the angels, give me a message. I want a message from God. Give me a message. The only message that comes out of the mouth of heaven is this. Jesus died. The tomb was lost. And now there is salvation in the name of Jesus of Nazareth. That's the message. That's the only thing. That's the only thing. The only thing that the angels tell you. So the angels would tell you, if you want me to tell you my story with the resurrection of Jesus, this is what I'm going to tell you. He is the Savior of the world. He is the Messiah. I have nothing else. Angels are never self-referential. They're never saying, pose in front of me. Ask me to do miracles for you. I'm going to be your intercessor.

Never an angel of God is going to tell you that. Because they know something very well. There is only one intercessor between men and God. And it's the one who was in the tomb for three days and then got up. That's the message of the angels. And that's their story with the resurrection. But the message of the resurrection didn't just stay in the hands of angels. It went to human hands. And that's why I'm going to tell you, the second voice you hear here, which are some women who are going to tell you their story. It says here that the women hear what the angels have to say. And she says, the whole house is full of blood. I think God himself said, I have to give this message to people who are able to transmit this message well. Start with the women.

The interesting thing is that Lucas tells you which women, this is the most powerful thing here, Lucas tells you some names, he tells you that there were several women, but he names you three, Maria Magdalena, or Maria, the one from Magdala, it was the city where she was from, where she came from, Juana, and then Maria, the mother of Santiago. I tell you why these three women catch my attention so much. The three have nothing to do with each other. Nothing to do. So, Lucas tells us a little bit about the first one, Maria Magdalena. where they impart their evil spirits to you. I don't know if she, maybe, had played something she shouldn't have played. Maybe she was abused. I don't know. All I know is that this was a woman who, just a few years ago, Jesus had found her sick and spiritually oppressed. Okay? That's the first one. The second woman, she tells you here, was Juana. Juana, Lucas also tells us, chapter 8, Juana, the wife of Chusa, administrator of Herobes. Okay? Maybe you say that and say, Juana, how are you going to marry a man named Chusa? Juana was in the high political ranks. Juana didn't go to the Ross where you went to buy a dress this week. Nor did Juana buy her clothes at Sam's. Do you realize when you buy clothes at Sam's, you say, bro, I like it, it's the same. Where did you buy it? At Sam's. Juana was more of a Versace, I think. She had money. She wasn't the kind of person, although I don't know much more about her, I know she was well-positioned, she wasn't the kind of person like Maria Magdalena, the one who's all demonized and sick. Here we see someone who has nothing to do with the other one. And then he tells you that there was Maria, the mother of Santiago. Santiago, one of Jesus' disciples, who was called Santiago the Younger. They don't tell you anything else. Maria, a mom. She was known for having eight people who were in her neighborhood. She didn't have social media. She wasn't an influencer. She was just a mom. And this is what catches my attention. There's a brutal contrast between the three women there. One oppressed by the demons.

Another who is in the high spheres of politics and has money. And the other is just a mom. And you would imagine that the three need different things. Listen to me carefully. You say, OK, each one has a problem, right? One has problems with First World Problems. The other has problems with being demonized. And the other has problems with having to change too many diapers and her husband doesn't help her. And you would assume that each one needs a different message of salvation. Maybe you don't. You're here saying, well, you see Pastor, that's what I don't like. They generalize me here. And I have my own problems, I have my own personal situation. I don't want to be told what my solution is, because I deal with my own crap, okay? Nobody knows what I deal with in my life. Nobody knows my particular problem, okay? Maybe it's true that I don't know what your particular problem will be. Maybe you're like a Maria Magdalena, and you're possessed or possessed. Fair? Maybe you have money, and you say, oh, my problem is that I don't have enough pairs of shoes, right? Or maybe you say, my problems are with my marriage, with my I don't know what. Your problem deep down is the same as mine. There's only one problem deep down in your chest, and it's this one. I'm a rebel, and I've been all my life, and you too. And because your problem is the same as mine, deep down, maybe the tree looks different in your life. But if you check the root, deep down, your problem is the same as mine.

And it's that I've wanted to be my own God all my life. And because there's someone here with me this morning, yes or no? And because there's only one problem deep down, I only have one message of salvation. Whether you're Maria Magdalena, whether you're Juanita, or whether you're Maria the mother of I don't know who. The only salvation, the only message is this. An empty tomb. An empty tomb. I don't have a message for Catholics, and another for Christians. Here I'm being watched by hundreds or thousands who are in prison, who see us every week. I don't have a message for those who are in prison, and for you who are here, living and hanging out and doing whatever you want. I don't have a message for a heterosexual, a homosexual, and a Terian. I don't have a message that's different for you. Because deep down, everyone I've just mentioned has the same problem, and that is that you've disobeyed your father. And that's why I can tell you, no matter who you are, the same place is where you'll find salvation, an empty tomb. Jesus has risen. Does that make sense or not? Women will tell you, it doesn't matter how you get to this empty tomb, Dad, I don't care how you get there. The question here is, what are you going to do once you realize that Jesus has risen? That's the question. And finally, you have Peter. You have Peter. I think that Peter is the story that motivates, Nick, you can go on. Peter is the story that motivates and ignites those of us who feel that we already knew God,

but we screwed up. You screwed up. The text says that all the disciples thought it was silly that Jesus had risen. No one believed it. No one believed it. No one, not even his staff, his team. Verse 12 says, But Peter rose from the grave and ran to the tomb. Listen carefully. I ask myself, and I will always ask myself, what went through Peter's mind, you know? The truth is, Peter was probably between 30 and 40 years old at that time. And that weekend had potentially been the worst. Thirty years. The worst. On Thursday of that same week, Jesus had been eating with his disciples, and Peter was there. And Peter's chest had swelled up, saying, Even though these infirmities deny you, I will never deny you. And Jesus confronted him and said, Bro, you're overestimating yourself. You're going to deny me. And Peter didn't listen. On Friday morning of that weekend, Peter had seen in the house of the High Priest how Jesus was being judged expressly. And instead of being loyal to the Master, Peter denies him. And denying your Rabbi means that you can no longer be part of his group.

Right? And he not only denied him, he himself swore by God. That's what it means to say, he swore by God today. I did not see or know that man. And may God judge me if I know that man. May God curse me. That's what he said. On Saturday, I wonder how it would have been the night before. But he couldn't conciliate a blessed hour of sleep, bro. You say, who differentiates me from Judas? I also betrayed him, and the worst thing is that he had trusted me. I betrayed him. Do you know what that feels like? If you're here for the first time, if you say legitimately, bro, this is the first time I hear that Jesus died for me and resurrected to forgive me, that's beautiful. Maybe you say, I never accepted it because I didn't even know he was there. Okay, great. But what about some of you who had already heard before? Maybe you even served him at some point. Later that same Sunday, a few hours later, Jesus himself was going to meet face to face with Pedro, saying, you know what, Pedro? You failed me, and you failed me a lot. But I came to save you. And that curse that you cast on yourself is inoperable because I died and rose again. And the one who received the curse for you was me. I received, I received your curse

so that no matter how much you curse yourself, it won't fall on you. That's the cross of Jesus. Jesus receives the curse that touched me and that touched you. And when he rises, he tells you, the tomb is empty. Let's get out of here. Let's get out of here. Get out of there. And my friends, this morning, you heard the voice of angels who tell you, don't look at me. I'm just a messenger. Jesus rose again. You heard the voice of a woman who tells you, we're different and we have different kinds of problems, but deep down, we all find that salvation is in the empty tomb, because deep down, our problem is the same. And you have Pedro telling you, bro, even though I didn't deserve it, he gave me his forgiveness. And the empty tomb for me means that even though I've tried to avoid the guilt that I feel for having rejected him, even though I knew him, it means that that guilt also died. And it means that I can be free and it means that I can try again. Is there anyone who can say amen?

The question for you this morning is this. What is your story with him? What is your story? How do you know? Is he calling you? How do I know if he's calling Jesus to me? And there's a fire that you feel in your heart that you say, it can't be him. It can't be the Argentine that's talking, that caused this to me. It's correct, you're right. It's the Holy Spirit that's calling you and by name. And I want us to do something. I want you to close your eyes where they are, up and down. Close your eyes. With your eyes closed. No one looking. I don't care. I don't care. He's talking to you and he's calling you. Lift her up high. Lift her up high so he can see her. I see a lot of hands. In a moment, I want you to lift her up and down. Sing it, Dad. Church, save for Christ. Sing it loud. Come on. If you are sitting with someone who doesn't have Jesus, say, come on, I'll take you. But come on, the tomb is empty. Come on. Sing it like it's your story. It's God. Your mercy is your blood. It's your blood that was shed for me. For me. Your mercy is your blood. It's your blood that was shed for me. That's my story. That's not just a story from 2,000 years ago. But my story is that being a rebel and a sinner, I found myself with an empty tomb and a Jesus who told me, it's not your sacrifice for me, it's my sacrifice for you. Accept it.

That's the good news. It's not what you can do for Dad. It's what Dad did for you when he sent his son. That's the only message I have. Like the angels, it's the only message I know. And the only message I'm going to preach to you. Jesus died, resurrected, and now you can be free. Free in the name of Jesus. Free in the name of Jesus. Free. I'm going to finish now by praying for you. And where are you? Those who are watching from the screen, those who are up, down. Y no se trata de volver para vos, probarle a Dios que con tus nuevos sacrificios vas a quedar bien, es que vos vuelvas a recibir el amor. No hay ningún otro sacrificio que vos puedas darle, solamente recordar, He didn't go anywhere. Maybe you did, but He didn't. Esa es mi historia y esa es mi canción. Es la sangre que Él derramó.
