HE HAD BEEN INCARCERATED FOR 17 YEARS… AND THIS WAS HIS FIRST VISIT WITH HIS DAUGHTER. ❤️

Inside Potosi Correctional Center in Missouri, seven incarcerated fathers were given the opportunity to participate in a Daddy Daughter Dance with their girls.

For Damon, this day was especially significant.

He has been incarcerated for 17 years, and just weeks before this event, he had his first visit with his daughter since his incarceration began.

For Ronald, who has been incarcerated for 18 years, this Daddy Daughter Dance brought another first.

He danced.

For the first time in 18 years.

And his daughter and granddaughter were there to see it.

Other fathers played games with their daughters, talked, laughed, dressed up, shared meals, and experienced moments that incarceration has made incredibly difficult to have.

One father described it as finally feeling normal again.

Like a dad.

That is what a Daddy Daughter Dance can create inside prison.

These moments cannot replace the years families have lost.

They cannot erase the consequences of the past.

But they can create space for healing, honest conversations, forgiveness, laughter, and memories that fathers and daughters can carry with them long after the day is over.

At God Behind Bars, we believe incarceration impacts entire families. That is why creating opportunities for fathers and daughters to reconnect matters so deeply.

Come inside Potosi Correctional Center and witness a Daddy Daughter Dance these families will never forget.
