Is believing things about Jesus the same as actually believing in Jesus?

In this Gospel Sunday message, Tony Nolan walks through Romans 4 and shares the incredible story of how the Gospel completely changed the direction of his own life.

Romans tells us that Abraham and David were not made right with God because they had perfect lives or had done enough good things. They were made righteous because they believed God. That same invitation is available to us today. Salvation isn't something we accomplish through our own works. It's something God offers through Jesus and we receive by faith.

Tony knows that personally. After growing up surrounded by abuse, rejection, addiction, violence, and hopelessness, someone stepped into his pain and shared the Gospel with him. For the first time, he understood that Jesus wasn't another thing he had to earn. Jesus was God's gift to him.

In this message, you’ll discover:

- Why Romans 4 says salvation is received rather than earned

- What Abraham and David teach us about being made right with God

- How Tony Nolan's own life was transformed by the Gospel

- Why God's love is available even when we feel unworthy of it

- The difference between believing things about Jesus and actually believing in Jesus

- Why religious activity alone cannot save us

- What repentance has to do with genuine faith

- Why being ready for eternity matters right now

- How to personally place your faith and trust in Jesus

Tony uses the famous story of the Great Blondin crossing Niagara Falls on a tightrope with a wheelbarrow to explain the difference between agreement and trust. The crowd could shout that they believed he was capable of crossing again, but trusting him meant being willing to get into the wheelbarrow.

That's the difference Tony wants us to understand about Jesus. Biblical faith is not simply agreeing that Jesus exists or knowing facts about Him. It's personally placing your trust in the One who died for your sin, rose again, and offers you eternal life.

We don't know how much time we have. But we can know where we will spend eternity.

Make sure you really believe in Jesus.
