Your Seat At God's Table (EASTER 2026) | Pastor Terrence Mullings
Easter message! You don't have to get perfect to come to the table; it has already been paid for on the cross!
You are not what was done to you, you are what was done for you on the cross by Jesus Christ. I think there's about 400 people on this side of the room who can clap your hands and shout and thank God that I am not my mistake, I am not a mistake, I am a child of God redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. Well, my message title, let me give you that first. I wanna speak to you this morning from this thought, your seat at God's table, your seat at God's table. Who knows that God has a table that He has prepared for us and today is your invitation to come and sit with your saviour, Jesus. And in fact, I'm gonna do this message in three parts. I'm gonna start here actually at the table because who knows at the table is where Jesus turns the water into, come on, shout it out, the water into. Come on, a loud church is an alive church. And this is why we wanna sit at the table because the wine speaks of transformation. The wine speaks of celebration. Come on, who knows the wine speaks of joy, salute somebody, amen. I'm gonna talk about the table, but before we get to the table, I'm gonna first start by talking about the snake at the tree, the snake at the tree. Here's why I'm gonna talk about this for a little while because I want you to know why most of us
lost our seat at the table. Then I'm gonna move from the snake at the tree and I'm gonna come to the saviour at the tree. Because even though the snake caused us to lose the invitation to the table, the saviour on the tree 2000 years ago redeemed our invitation and now we can come and sit back at the table of provision and that's gonna be good news here today, amen. So how many parts am I speaking in? Three, snake at the tree, saviour on the tree, and then back to the chair at the table. Let's kick off right here and just work out what, why this table is. And foundational scripture is found in John chapter two and we're gonna go to verse one, John chapter two. If you've got your Bibles, you can turn there or you can just use your eyelids, look at the screen or you can use your iPhones. If you do have an Android, why? I mean like, we'll pray for you. Hopefully you'll get saved today and you will fix that. John chapter two says this on the third day. I'm excited already because the third day speaks of Easter because something special happened on the third day. Jesus didn't stay in the grave. He got back up again. He rose again. There was a wedding that took place at Cana in Galilee and Jesus's mother, she was there at the wedding.
Guess who else was there? Verse two, Jesus was there. His disciples had also been invited to the wedding. And I love that, that Jesus is at the party because it proves that our God is not a killjoy. In fact, our God is the author of joy. That God wants you not just to be holy but God wants you to be happy. Holy, healthy, happy and bring heaven to earth. Come on, anyone grateful that our Jesus is the life of the party? Come on, when Jesus turns up, you can turn down for Jesus. Turn down for Jesus. And verse three says, and when the wine though was gone, Jesus' mother turned to him and said, son, they have no more wine. They have no more wine. And verse four, he responds to his mother, woman, woman, why do you involve me? You see that line right there, woman, why do you involve me is why most of the world and most of society thinks Jesus is white. Because if I spoke to my Jamaican mother like that, let me just say, that would be the last words that I heard. Come on, she'd be like, is who you call woman? And then she'd do this one. Can I tell you, this proves that Jesus was not Hispanic. Because if Jesus was Hispanic and he spoke to his mother like that, it would not have been death on a cross.
It would have been death by chocolate. By chocolate, come on, make some noise in this place. Come on, Jesus, he was an Arabic and a mixed man who understands each and every one of us. And then when she said there was no more wine, he said, woman, why do you involve me? But then Jesus replied, here's why he said woman. It wasn't a term of disrespect because Jesus was not disrespectful. He knew how to honor God and honor his mother and father. The reason why he said woman, he says, my time has not yet come. So Jesus didn't wanna reveal that he was God just yet. And so verse five, his mother said, even though he says my time hasn't come, hey, do whatever he tells you to do. Come on, anyone got a mama like that who just like, when she speaks, she knows you're gonna respond. I remember my Jamaican father, when we lived in Australia, every time people came over, it's like, Terrence, Terrence, Terrence, Terrence, Terrence, Terrence. Come play the piano, come on, play the piano. Terrence, Terrence, Terrence, Terrence, Terrence, Terrence. Play them a song. It's like he was so proud to show what his son could do. And I picture Jesus' mother like that. I know there's something special about my boy. So whatever he tells you to do, I need you to do whatever he tells you. Verse six, nearby stood six stone water jars.
These were the kind used by the Jews. Before they came and took a seat at the table, they would come and wash their hands. So they wouldn't get to the table dirty. You couldn't sit at the wedding table. You'd wash your hands ceremonially, you'd wash your feet. So I mean, imagine this is not clean water. This is dirty water. I mean, it's disgusting. It's got toe jam in there. Yucky, yucky water. And each of these jars were holding somewhere between 20 and 30 gallons. That's a lot. Verse seven, Jesus said to the servants, I need you to fill the jars with water. You would have thought, because these waters were dirty, he would say, empty them first. Not God. He says, fill the jars with water. And so they filled each one of them to the brim. Next verse. Then he told them, now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet. And so they did. And the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He tasted the water that had been turned into wine and he didn't realize where it had come from, though the servants knew where it came from.
There is something that happens when you serve God. You know, most of us wanna come to God with a title, but Jesus didn't come with a title, King of Kings. He came with a towel to wash the disciples' feet. Because there's something powerful happens that when we serve, we're servant leaders because Jesus is the King of Kings who came not to be served, but to serve. And they were able to be part of the miracle. And then he called the bridegroom and said, hey, listen, it's interesting that everyone brings out the choice wine first. And then the cheaper wine, once everyone has got turned, after the guests have had too much to drink, but you, you, help me say this next part, you have saved the best until now. Some of you think your best days are behind you. Some of you think you've made too many mistakes, but I came here to tell you that your best days are actually before you. Come on, anyone grateful that because Jesus Christ got back out of the grave, you can get back up out of any circumstance in your life and the best is not behind you. And it says in verse 11, what Jesus did there at Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory. And this is why we sing, Jesus be the name that gets all the glory.
That's why, because Jesus revealed that he was just not a man, but he was also God at the same time. And he revealed his glory and the disciples believed in him. The disciples believed in him. My prayer today is that you would believe in God, the God who believes in you, amen. Let's pray. Thank you for your presence that's here. Thank you, God, that you're already speaking to us because we know that when the praise goes up, God shows up. And so God, we know that you're here and we ask that your presence would just speak to us, give us fresh perspective, give us the power we need to fulfill your purpose. And we ask this in Jesus' name and all God's people said, amen. Come on, all God's people shouted, amen. Come on, clap your hands if you're grateful for Jesus this Easter. He's here. I wanna start with a question. This wedding we read in John chapter two was at a wedding table. There's many tables in the Bible. There's the table where Jesus had communion, the last supper. There's the table in Psalm 23, where the God says, I will prepare a table before you in the presence of your enemies.
But I wanna ask you, there was an original table in the Bible. Who knows what it was? The original table in the Bible is found in Genesis one and two. And it was actually a wedding table. It was where God created the first marriage between Adam and Eve. And the table was in fact all of creation. Let's read it in Genesis chapter two, starting chapter one at verse 27. The original table. So God created mankind in his own image. They were created in the what? In the image of male and female. The original wedding, God's highest and best, the Eden blueprint for very good relationships is man and woman. And it says in verse 28, God blessed them. And here's the table that God prepared for them. He said, I want you to be fruitful and increase in number. Come on, be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth. Please don't leave a glass half empty. Please don't even leave a glass half full. I need your cup to be overflowing. Fill the earth and subdue it. Anything that doesn't look like the promise that I've promised you, I need you to subdue it. Rule over the fish, rule over the birds,
rule over the sea and rule with love and compassion down here like I do up there. This is what God told them to do. And in verse 31, he said, taught all that he had made. And he said, it was very good. I swear God must've made everyone looking like Pastor Emma cause she's very good. Come on, that death, that's the water turned into fine right there. Praise the Lord. And she's not even hearing this. I'm just hoping that after Easter, I got a feeling. Praise the Lord, let's get back to this. And there was evening and there was morning and it was the sixth day, the sixth day. God didn't create man on the fifth day. He created man on the... This is why we say six is the number of man and seven is the number of God. I think it's really important that we define what the original table was and write this down for those who are taking notes and for those who wanna go to heaven, write this down. Number one, the table is your presence, where God's presence was. We'll come back to that in a second, but let me say it like this. Presence, it's a place of provision. Everything that they needed, God had provided.
It's a place of peace. It's a place of great promise. Everything that they needed, God had provided for them. It was a place where there was so much potential and power to rule down here like up there. In fact, let me show you the acronym. This is the table, table. T is place of truth. You will know the truth and the truth will set you. Let me tell you the truth about what God did at the beginning of creation. At the beginning of creation, the Bible says, God reached into the dirt and he did four things when he saw dirt, things that were dirty. He found the dirt. He formed the dirt. He breathed the breath of life into this dirt that he had formed and he filled the dirt. And then he said to this dirty thing, be fruitful and multiply. Can I tell you the beginning of creation, God made destiny out of dirt. And you might've walked in here feeling dirty this morning, but I need you to know that we serve a God that's not afraid of the dirty areas of your life. In fact, he specializes in touching dirt and turning it into destiny. So anyone grateful for that here this morning, that that's who our God is. He's a God of love.
And those four things that God did at the beginning of creation are the same four things that we've actually built our church around. Do you know that? To find, form, fill and make people fruitful. People get found on Sunday morning. So I wanna tell you, just keep coming back. We do groups so people can be formed in the image of Jesus. You can find friendships. Then we help people get filled at what we call destiny steps. Can I encourage you to come to that? Because there's two great days in a person's life, the day you're born and the day you discover why. That's what we wanna help you. What does it look like? When the Holy Spirit fills your life with his presence. And then we wanna help you to be deployed, to be fruitful, both here on a team serving others so you can be part of the miracle where God turns the water into wine for other people and to be fruitful at your sphere of influence. These four things is why we say, give God a year. Come on, turn the person next to you and say, give God a year. Come on, come on. Now look at the person you ignored. Come on, look at your other choice and tell them, give God a year. Give God a year.
Because if you give God a year and keep coming to Sundays, you will eventually find a place where friends become family and together as family, we can change the course of history. Give God a year. So at this table, there's truth. Let me go faster now. There's A, access, access to God. That's what Adam and Eve had. B, there was blessing. There was blessing. They walked with God in the garden. L, it was life more abundantly. Everything they needed, God had provided. And E, there was eternal life because there was two trees in the middle of the garden, the tree of the knowledge of the good and even, good and evil, and also the tree of life. How many trees in the middle? Two. And God said to them, you can eat from any tree in the garden. You got 999,999 trees. You can eat for any tree. You can eat from this tree of life, but just don't touch this tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Why did God say that? Because once you eat from that, you will certainly muerto, you will die.
Let's read it. This is where, watch this. We had a seat at the table, but because of an uninvited guest, I'm calling him the wedding crasher and he's hard to see, but they're down here, there is a dirty little snake that slithers up to Adam and Eve and it starts to whisper lies into the ear. And I wonder if that same snake has been whispering lies to you. Let's read what the snake did. Genesis three, this is the four. Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals that God had made. And he said to the woman, did God really say? That's how the snake would have sounded, I think. Little sissy. Did God really say? Scratch that from the recording. Did God really say, you must not eat from any tree in the garden? And the woman said to the serpent, now listen, big mistake. You should never dialogue with the devil, because the devil will always put a question mark where God has put a period. And if you put a question mark where God has put a period, you're gonna start to question the call of God in your life. And if you keep questioning the call of God in your life,
eventually you will compromise the call of God in your life. Here's how the devil operates. The devil operates in doubt, but God's word is not up for debate. If God said it, you're gonna see it. If God spoke it, it will become what God said it will become. And the reason why you should never question the call of God upon your life, because if you question God's call, do you realize what God does when he speaks? God doesn't speak just to communicate. God speaks to create. And if you question the creation of God in your life, he can't recreate his image in your life. So never question, never dialogue with the devil, because the snake slithers up like this. Like a question mark. And he always puts a question mark. And he said, did God really say, never question the call of God, do not dialogue with the devil or you are done. Back to Eve, she says, we may eat fruit from the garden, but God did say, you must not eat fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden. She was right. And you must not touch it or you will die. So she knew what God said, but then the snake comes again and says, you will not certainly die, the serpent said to the woman.
And verse five, he says, for God knows when you eat it, your eyes will be open and you will be like God. Well, hang on. In Genesis 1, 26, remember we read it already, that God said, let us make man in our image. So they were already in the image of God. But when the snake slithers up, and if you let the snake speak to you and get in the tree of life at your table, when you believe a lie, something in you will die. When you believe the lie, something in you will die. It'll be the access you have to God. It'll be the truth in your life. It'll be the relationship. It'll be the blessing of God. When you believe a lie, something in you will die. And I believe when you die, what happens when we eat something, we become dirty. It defiles us. It isolates us. It ruins and it's a trap. If you believe a lie, something in you will die. So look at Genesis 3, 10. He answered, God's now looking for Adam and Eve. They've eaten this. And the Bible says when they eat it, they realized they were naked and ashamed. And so what they did, sin, caused them not just to run from God, but they started to hide from God.
And here's the lie of the enemy. The snake will make you believe that you are so dirty. You are so damaged. Don't just run from God. You better hide from God. Because if God saw you like that, he would harm you because God's an angry God. And that is a lie from the pit of hell. Can I tell you here today, God is not mad at you. God is mad at sin. He's mad at sin and what it does to you, how it defiles you, how it makes you dirty, how it breaks intimacy and breaks trust in your life. God's not mad at you. God's madly in love with you. You know why? Because 2000 years ago on the cross, Jesus paid the price for sin. The wages of sin is death. And I'm so grateful that my Saviour, Jesus, hung on that cross and paid a price that I should have paid, but I came up short, but He didn't and He paid the ultimate price so I can have relationship. This is the good news of Christmas and Easter in Jesus' name. And so when God went looking for them, Genesis 3, 10, He answered, I heard you in the garden and I was afraid and naked. So I hid. Do not believe the lie
because when you believe a lie, something in you will, it will die. Verse 22, and the Lord God said, the man has now become like one of us knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out, don't miss this, reach out his hand because rescue always starts with a reach and the devil is trying to stop you reaching out from God because he knows if you reach out, God will reach out and pull you up. And so don't let him reach out and take also from the tree of life and now live forever. And so verse 23 says, the Lord God banished him from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. After he drove the man out, verse 24, he placed on the east side of the garden, cherubim and a flaming sword. So because man said, we hid, we ran from God, but God said, hey, I cannot let them back in the garden. Now watch this, God didn't kick them out of the garden, but he had to keep them out of the garden because God had to put a sword that stopped them from coming back into the garden. You might think that is a mean God. No, that is a very loving and thoughtful God. You know why? Because if they had been allowed to come and eat from this tree now, they took from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
But if they had been able to eat from the tree of life. eternal life than the fallen state that they were in. They would stay in a state of being disconnected, of identity being lost, of being rejected, of trauma and the trap, and they would stay like that for eternity. So God in His grace said, I've got to keep them out, and I'm going to keep them out for this reason. I've got to work out a plan of redemption to get them back to a seat at my table. This is the good news of Easter, that even though we're being kept out because of the snake on the tree, I'm so grateful that there is a savior who also went on a tree. Do you see why we lost our seat at the table? And let me show you how Jesus has restored the seat at the table. You know, it's interesting, this is how we should have been sitting at the head of the table as a guest, enjoying with Jesus, but sin caused us to have to get up. And here's what most of us believe. God no longer wants us at the table. In fact, God has His back to us, and this is how God looks at us. Anyone ever seen the show, The Voice? You know the show, The Voice, where you got Adam Levine and all the different guests, and they're here, and you've got these people
who are singing for God, or they're singing for the judges. And if they sing good enough, anyone know The Voice? Come on, hands up, hands up. All right, you know, here's the premise of the show. You have to sing, and you've got to be good enough, and you've got to do all the trills and the runs for the judges to notice you. And if, someone say if, if you are good enough, they're gonna press a button that will turn the chair around and then lights up on the stage and says, I choose you. You know the show? Here's what I felt, that The Voice is a picture of what many of us do and how we live life, that we're trying to sing, God, will you just notice me? God, can I be good enough? Can I sing good enough for you to turn the chair to me? And worse still, some of us don't even have God in this chair. We have a mother in this chair. We've got a spouse in this chair. You've got a boss in, who have you got in this chair where you are performing, performing, trying, trying, trying, notice me. Here's what I believe God brought you here this Easter to tell you. I believe that God said you need to cancel the audition. Cancel the audition because the chair has already turned. The chair has already turned because of Easter. And I'm so grateful I don't have to perform to get God to notice me.
God noticed me. In fact, here's what he says, before I formed you in your mother's womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I had a plan and a purpose for you. And here's what I believe God's saying, write this down. Stop trying to prove yourself. You have nothing to prove because you're already approved. You got nothing to prove because you're already approved. You can clap your hands on that. If you're gonna clap, we can clap and celebrate. That's good news. Now don't mishear me. That doesn't mean you stop trying. It just means you stop trying out because God has already made a place for you because of Jesus Christ. And the voice of the snake in your life. Now listen, when the snake slithered into the garden, he didn't just introduce sin. What the snake did was introduce an alternative voice. And the voice you believe will determine the life you receive. The voice that you believe will determine whether you stay at the table or you leave the table. My question is, what voice are you believing? Are you believing that voice that said, you didn't just sin, you are your sin? Are you believing the voice because someone touched you and abused you when you were young? You are what was done to you.
You were defiled. You have no value to God. Well, I wanna tell you the devil is a liar. You better step on that snake's head in Jesus' name. You are not what was done to you. You are what was done for you on the cross by Jesus Christ. I think there's about 400 people on this side of the room who can clap your hands and shout and thank God that I am not my mistake. I am not a mistake. I am a child of God redeemed by the blood of the lamb. Sin will make you run from God, but shame will actually make you hide from God. And here's why the snake wins, because you've heard the term, you can run, but you can't. It's a lie. You can't hide. And some of us walked in here hiding, but behind our nice clothes, our nice car, and we were trying to pretend everything's okay. But can I tell you, God cannot heal what you hide. God cannot heal what you're hiding. And the lie from the snake is you need to hide from God, because if he saw the real you, he would hate you. If he saw the real you, he would punish you. Now, that's a lie from the pit of hell, because all the anger of God was satisfied with Jesus on the cross. And so when he looks at you, he sees price paid in full.
He's no longer mad at you. God is madly in love with you. And I'm gonna prove it to you right now. Now watch this, sin and shame separators from the table, but here's how Jesus won. on our seat at the table. And it's really important that I tell you why you now have a seat back at the table. It's for these four things. It's because of the Savior on the tree. Write down these four things. The blood, the body, the water, the word. The blood, the body, the water, and the word. This is what Jesus did. Let me start with the body. In Isaiah 53, it says that Jesus was pierced for our transgressions. You know what transgressions are? It's not where you got thought about it, it's where you actually crossed the line and you overstepped. Come on, some of us have made some mistakes, said things we shouldn't have said, done things we shouldn't have done, and Jesus said, I took care of that on the cross and paid the price. But some of us, it's not the transgressions, it's iniquities. You know what iniquities are? It's not where you crossed the line,
it's where you've thought. Because the Bible says Jesus, he lifts the ante. It's not sleeping with a woman is adultery. No, no, if you look at a woman and lust after her, because lust starts with a look. This is what David made the mistake of looking at Bathsheba. And God says, you know those negative thoughts? You know those anxious thoughts, those things that keep you up at night? I took care of that on the cross as well. I took care of all the negative thoughts, all the fear in your life that keeps you up, all the thoughts where you think if people knew the real me, they would, God would be so disgusted. God says, no, no, no, no, you have the mind of Christ. I took care of that on the cross for you as well. And the punishment that I took that brought you peace was actually on Jesus. And by his wounds, you are healed. By his stripes, you are... This is how Jesus healed you because his body, he took what you should have taken, which is punishment, because the wages of sin is death. So watch this. Jesus, when he turned up, he said, I am the vine. Do you know what grows on vines? Grapes. Do you know how they make wine?
They crush and they press the grapes. At the table, Jesus didn't just turn water to wine. At the table called the cross, Jesus became the wine. His body was broken and bruised. And this is what you and I deserve for all our sin and all our shortcomings. But Jesus says, you don't have to pay it. I got you. This is the good news of Easter. He was pressed so we can be blessed. He was pressed so we can be blessed. So watch this. At the wedding table, he turns water to wine, but on the cross, his body becomes the wine. Body becomes the wine. All right, watch this. That's the body. What about the blood? Someone say blood. You know, you're coming to church and it might sound weird to be covered by the blood, but I need you to know that from the Old Testament, from the beginning of creation, people have known that if you sin, eye for an eye, if you kill me, I'm gonna... This is vengeance. The human heart always cries out for justice. And God has always been a God of justice. Come on, if someone has done you wrong, who wants justice?
Anyone? And God says, I'm gonna get you justice, but I'm just gonna do it differently than you think. In fact, in the Old Testament, when people sinned, they would get the blood of an animal. It's called a substitutory atonement. What will atone for my sins? And in fact, they used to get this little lamb and let's read it right here. It says in Exodus 12, they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and the tops. Watch this, on the sides and the tops. What's that a picture of? The cross, God's showing you that something greater is coming and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lamb. So God says, if you are in the house, you're gonna be covered. The reason why some of you are not covered is because you're not in the house. You gotta be in the house where God's protection is. You gotta be in the house where God's provision is. And that's why I say, give God a year because when the enemy comes at you, there is something that happens when you're in the pack. You see it in the wild, that one little hyena, that one little gazelle. When it's on its own and it thinks it's doing okay,
which one do you think the lion's going after? The one in the pack or the one on its own? And that's why God says you gotta be in the house so you're covered, so you're covered. And it says this, verse 13, the blood of the lamb on the door of your house, where you are, you better be in the house because what he says, when I see the blood, I will pass over you. This is why we say give God a year because you need to be covered. God is a just God and the wages of sin is, but it doesn't have to be you because watch this, he said, no destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt. Because God is about to come after everything that's been coming after you. And his people, the Israelites had been raped and pillaged by these Egyptian. And God says, no more, I'm coming to give justice for my people. And when the angel of death came and it tried to destroy everything, it destroyed everything that did not have the blood. But I'm so grateful that because of Jesus Christ on the cross, when they pierced him on the side, out of him came blood and water. And this is why we say we're covered by the? Blood. The blood.
I need to be covered by the blood. The blood pays the price that I should have paid. In fact, they used to get a little lamb on the day of atonement. In the Old Testament, is this helping anyone? Three people, fantastic. In the Old Testament, they used to take a little lamb and on the day, I think it's something Yom Kippur, they used to get the blood of a lamb and they would sacrifice that lamb. But watch this, the lamb had to be spotless, perfect and blameless. If it wasn't spotless and perfect, then instead of paying for the sins, the person would be responsible because only perfection could take care. Innocent lamb could take the cost and pay the price, amen? So watch this. The priest would inspect the lamb in the Old Testament. In the New Testament, Jesus, the Bible says, is the lamb of God that was slain before the foundation of the earth. What does that mean for you and I? They inspected Jesus, not just once, not just twice, but three times. Let's look at it right here. The Bible says Pontius Pilate inspected Jesus. So he was inspected not just by religious leaders, but by the government and by the courts. And they said, I find no fault in him.
King Herod, culture, now comes and inspects Jesus in Luke 23, and neither Herod has found fault in him. Send him back to us. He's done nothing to deserve death. And then Caiaphas, the high priest. So culture has inspected Jesus. The government has inspected Jesus. And then religion comes and says, is this man perfect? And he was, he was perfect and he was spotless. He's the blameless lamb that was formed before the foundation of the earth to take your and my sin. You need to know when they pierced him on the side, blood fell on the ground. And this is important because when God made Adam, what did he form him out of? He formed him out of the ground, the dirt. So when the blood hits the ground, because you and I were made from the ground, this is why we're covered by the blood. So when the enemy comes at me and tries to tell me that I'm dirty, and you're an adulterer, and you're an abuser, and you look at porn, and you're a homosexual, and God hates you, and it says all these things, you need to come and say, I'm being covered by the blood of Jesus, and no weapon formed against me will prosper. And every tongue that rises against me will be condemned. And I need to you to know, no matter who you are,
if you come under the blood, you can come boldly to the throne room of grace. You can come boldly and sit at the table with Jesus because you're covered by the blood. This is what it means. Innocent blood always has a frequency that reaches the throne room of heaven. Do you know when Cain killed Abel in the Old Testament, how did God know? He heard the cry. The Bible said that God heard the cry, where's your brother? Cain, I tell you, Cain is always after your Abel. The devil's always after your ability. And so he will try and kill it. And what happened when Cain's blood hit the ground, God comes down and says, when Abel's blood came, where's your brother Abel? He's what he said, am I my brother's keeper? And God said, you should have been. You should have been. How'd you know that he fell? Well, innocent blood had reached my ears and the blood of your brother cries out from the ground. And I need you to know the blood of Jesus cries out from the ground for you and I to say they're innocent, to say I love them, to say you're my child. You are not dirty, damaged or disgusting. I love you with an unconditional love.
And that's a place where you can clap your hands and praise the Lord. I gotta move faster. The blood, the body, the water, the water. This gets really good. Cause I need you to understand that you now have a seat at the table. Even though the snake uninvited you, the savior purchased your invitation. And here with the water, cause when they pierced him in the side, two things came out, blood and water. Do you know the word of God in the Bible is represented normally by two things. In Ephesians, well, first of all, John 1.1, in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was. So God, Jesus is the word that's become flesh. So watch this. The word gets on the cross. They pierce the word, Jesus. Out of the word flows water. And in Ephesians it says that you are washed and cleansed by the water of his word. So put that scripture up. So the word is represented by water, true? Do you know what the word is also represented by? And here's why it's important. Because the Bible says heaven and earth will pass away. but my word shall not.
God watches over his word to perform it. So watch this. The Bible says that you put on the full armor of God and take up the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. What kept them out of the garden was a flaming sword. So the word had decreed that Adam and Eve could not come in the garden because they were unworthy. But the word on the cross gave a new verdict over your life that you have been washed clean by the word of God. And his word has removed your sin as far as the east is from the west. This is important because the word that once guarded the garden is now guiding you back to the garden and defeating the snake and chopping up the snake in your life and saying the devil is defeated by what Jesus Christ, the living word has done on the cross. This, I'm preaching better than you're responding in this place here this evening. So we get to come back because the body was broken, the blood was shed, the word and the water hits the ground. And because of that, we can enjoy the wine at the table with Jesus. The keys, you can come. This will help me finish up a little bit quicker. So now we're back at the table. If you will give me the full 10 minutes I got plus five, I wanna show you how the wedding at Cana secures our seat because it's not just an earthly seat
where God turns water into wine. He actually wants to move death to life. And let me show you how he does it. Now you're back at the table. There is an invitation when you leave today that each one of you are gonna get this little placeholder and you're gonna place this in your home to remember that you're the guest of honor at this table. Let me prove it to you. Here's the six things we learned. Number one, she said, we have no more wine. John 2, three says, when the wine was gone, Jesus' mother said to him, they have no, put on the screen, they have no more wine. I don't know about you, but have you ever gotten to the place in your life where you've just run out? You've got nothing left. I've got nothing left to give to my kids. I've got no more words to say to try and redeem the situation. I mean, sometimes I drive my car and I got no more gas. Sometimes I go to Publix. And let me tell you, sometimes when I go to Publix, my prayer life increases because I got no more money in this account because my wife loves Amazon. And I'm praying that when I, literally, I sometimes I'm praying that we have enough money.
Anyone know what it feels like to run short and to run out sometimes? This is what's happening at the wedding. And you might not think it's a big thing until you understand the social context of this. Here's the context. At a wedding, a groom, when he runs out of wine, he's actually saying, I cannot look after this bride. I don't have enough resources and wherewithal. And some of you have run out of hope thinking, will I ever get married? Does anyone, will anyone ever see me, God? I've got no more hope. I've run out of hope that this marriage will actually change because the way we're going, this is ending in divorce. I don't know what you've run out of, whether it's finances, hope, or strength, but God says, if you've run out, reach out. Because when you reach out, He will run in. When you run out, reach out. Because when you reach out, He will run. You gotta watch out, not because God's mad at you, because God's about to turn this place upside down and do what only He can do. You gotta understand the beginning of creation, God specializes in filling places that are empty. The Bible says He hovered over the earth and He saw the earth was formless and void. That means empty. So what does God do to empty places and spaces?
He fills the empty skies with birds. He fills the empty seas with fish. And I want you to know emotionally, relationally, if you're empty, God's about to fill that space in your life. You need to remember, the miracle was predicated on one thing happening. The miracle of water turning into wine is predicated on what? We have no more wine. So if you've run out, watch out, because God is about to do a miracle in your life. And His mother asked Him to do something, and then His response is, woman, why do you involve me? My hour has not yet come. And here's why He said, my hour has not yet come. He wasn't mad because she asked Him to do something. He was saying, I cannot, my hour has not yet come to reveal my glory of who I am. Do you know... Fine wine gets better with age. If you pick the grape too early, if you don't let it rest and stay too long, this is a 2018 bottle. The longer, the older the wine, the greater it is. Jesus was saying to his mother, don't pick me too early, because I got work to do. I've got to train up these disciples
and they need to see what I do so they can do what I do. Show me your friends and I'll show you. They had to walk with Jesus. She was saying, my time hasn't come, but I love this next part. She says, whatever he tells you to do, do it. You know why? Because she knew something about Jesus and it's this. He says, mom, mother, listen. My time hasn't come yet, but because of my relationship with you, because of who you are to me, I'll make it my time. I will schedule an unscheduled blessing because of who you are to me. Can I tell you because of what Jesus did to purchase your seat at the table, God is about to schedule an unscheduled blessing in your life. The miracle that you came here needing today, you're about to receive as you take a seat at this table. And it's predicated on this fact that you came here empty enough that you would reach out to God. And watch what happens. Watch this. And because of the cross, that's how God feels about you. Daughter, son, he loves you.
Second thing she says is do whatever he tells you. Do whatever he tells you. Can I tell you your breakthrough is on the other side of your next step of obedience. Oh, it's simpler than you think. That's why we sing that song, trust and obey. For there's no other way to be happy in Jesus than to trust and obey. One step of obedience led him to get the miracle that he was believing for. This is your TKO. Trust, keep trusting, obey. Trust, keep trusting, and just obey what God said. You know, I heard this guy, Alistair Begg, tell the story that it wasn't just one cross. There was three crosses. Jesus was in the middle cross. On his left-hand side was a thief. On his right-hand side was a thief. The thief on the left mocked him. The thief on the left did not honour him. But the thief on the right, here's what he said. The thief on the right said, please remember me when you go to heaven. And I love Jesus' response. He says, truly, today I tell you, you will be with me in paradise. You will be with me in paradise. And I can imagine Jesus gets up from the grave on the third day.
It's Sunday, people, it's Sunday. He gets up from the grave. He goes into heaven and heaven is rejoicing. Jesus is back. Jesus is back. Jesus, He's here. And they're having a party for Jesus. And they realize coming behind Jesus is some random dude they do not know. And I can imagine the people, Paul and Peter, hey, hey, hey, who are you? It's like, who are you? Do you know you can't just come sit at this table? There is a price. There is a cost to sit at this table. Do you understand propitiation? Do you understand substitutory atonement? He's like, no. Do you understand the incarnation that God became man and took? He said, I don't know any of those things. Well, why are you here? Why do you think you can come in here? And I believe he would have said, you see the man in the front? He was the man on the middle cross. He was the man on the middle cross. And he said, I could come. He said, I could come. Come as you are.
Come with the brokenness. Come with the addiction. Come feeling dirty. Don't overthink it. If Jesus says you can come, step up, come to the table. There's healing at the table. Six stone jars. Why six? Because six is the number of man. Six speaks of human effort. This is where you're striving. Religion is striving. God noticed me. God, I'm trying to prove myself for His chair to turn. Do you realize the lie of the snake at the tree is that you are not clean enough. You are so dirty. Don't just run from God. Hide from God. Do you know the snake doesn't stop at the tree? He goes to the table and here's what he says. You can't sit at this table. Get up. Wash yourself. Get yourself clean. Try harder. Do more. Give more. Do it in your own strength and then you're gonna be good enough to get to God.
It's a lie from the pit of hell. You know, we had baptisms two weeks ago and there's a beautiful mama. She was in the last service. Her three sons got baptized. He's probably sitting over there, one of them. baptized and I said to her, hey, have you been baptized? She said, no, I said, why? She said, I got to just fix a few things first. Why would you think you got to fix something to get to Jesus? You don't fix yourself to get to Jesus. You get to Jesus and he will fix you. The blood will fix you. The water will wash you clean. Reject the lie of the enemy that you have to get it together. You don't read the word of God to get to Jesus. You get to Jesus and let him read you and wash you and make you. You don't wash yourself and then come to Jesus. You come to Jesus so he can wash you. You come to Jesus just as you are. He loves you just the way you are, but he loves you too much to leave you the same. He will make you better. Fill the jars with water, come fill the jars with water. He says to the servants, fill the jars with water. Hang on God. Wait, wait, wait, wait.
Wouldn't I have to clean it first? Isn't this where people wash their dirty hands and wash their dirty feet? This is dirty water. No, no, Jesus says you don't have to fix yourself first. This is not six, this is seven. There's a seventh jar coming. There's a seventh stone. It's the stone jar that the builders reject. It's the stone jar that the builders rejected. His name is Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Fill the thing with water. Pour out my rivers of living water. On the cross, I was poured out. Pour, pour it out. Jesus, pour it out. Pour it out. Pour it out. I thought we wanted wine. Why do I have water? God, all I've got is a little bit of strength. I got water. This is natural. I want it supernatural. God, this is ordinary. I got nothing to give you, Jesus. God says, you bring the water. Yeah. You bring the water and I'll turn it into wine. You bring the water and I'll turn it into wine.
Not just any wine. He saved the best wine till now. Oh, God's about to rewrite your story. God's about to take the ordinary and He's gonna make it extraordinary in Jesus' Name. Pour the wine, sit at the table. There is new wine. And the Bible says that they took it to the master of the ceremonies at the head of the table. Master of the ceremonies, taste this water. You brought the best wine at the end. You filled the jars. This is for the person who thinks you're not ready. You're unequipped. You're not spiritual enough. You don't know enough theology. Oh, no, no, you bring the water. God will turn it to wine. You bring your natural and God will do the supernatural. Come on, you bring your ordinary and God will do the extraordinary in your life. Can I tell you, you do not have to be perfect to participate. You just have to be willing. Any willing people in the house today? See, God doesn't just wanna turn the water into wine. He wants to use you to do a miracle in someone else's life. Second last thing is the water became wine. And here's what it says in John 2, 7. Now draw some out, take it to the master of the banquet.
That's what I just did. Let's put the Scripture up. So they did so. And the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned to wine. He didn't realize where it come from. He didn't realize, Phil, but guess who didn't know where it came from? The servants. See, I'd rather be a servant in the house of the Lord than anywhere else. Because God takes dirt and makes destiny out of dirt. God will take the rib and make royalty out of something that's natural. He will make something supernatural out of your life. And you need to know that God doesn't just make life a little bit better. In fact, here's how God makes things better. This is not just better water. This is a whole complete new substance. And this is what God wants to do in your life is you take a seat at His table. He wants to make your life better. And He says, last thing, second last thing is you save the best until now. Some of you think you've wasted the years of your life. You've made so many mistakes that God can't fix it now. If you were being honest, you're like, it's too late for me, I'm too old. We've got amazing Felix, just turned 87 years old,
sitting in a seat in the middle of the back. He's 87. His best days aren't behind him. He's got more in him, fuerte, because like fine wine, you get better with age. And here's why I know the best is not behind you. In Hebrews 12, two, it says, fixing your eyes upon the Lord. on Jesus, the author and the finisher of your faith. Let me watch this. What was before Him for the joy, the wine, the celebration was in front of Him. And because He took the cross, you and I can wear the crown of salvation. You need to know you have a seat at this table. You can cancel the audition. Stop trying out. Stop trying to prove yourself. You've been already approved by Jesus Christ. Here's why, some of you it's taking so long because you've got to understand like fine wine, it has to go through a process. Jesus turned the water into wine. It wasn't just one jar, it was six jars. Each one of them held 30 gallons of water. I did the maths on it. I typed in a chat GPT. 30 gallons of six stone jars of wine is 900 of these bottles. How many?
900. I Googled what is the best wine because Jesus didn't make any wine. He made the, now track with me. Do you know the best wine was sold in 2018? You know how much it sold for? $558,000. That means what Jesus did at this wedding to turn the water into wine was over $300 million worth of supply at the table. Who would wanna be at that table with $300 million worth of wine? But watch this, watch this, watch this. Here's the kicker. They didn't pay for it. They didn't earn it. They didn't deserve it. It was a gift freely given. Can I tell you when you receive the invitation to get back to the seat that Jesus prepared for you, there is provision, there is healing at the table. This is where God does a restoration in your life. Now listen, Pastor Emma, can you come out as we finish? God invites you to a seat at the table. If there's one girl whose life was, don't sit just yet, brokenness, mother dies, sister dies, abuse in her life. If the devil tried to ruin one life, it's this one. And you watch what God has done to restore her life. Now she's actually preaching next week on the number one topic that you asked for.
I don't wanna tell you, do not miss next week because there is an invitation to take a seat at the table, but it's not just any seat. You're not just any guest. It's not that seat, sweetheart. That's not for you. It's not this seat, sweetheart. Bring the seat for my dear wife. You are not just any old guest. You are the guest of honour. God says, I put this party just for you. I put on Easter just for you to take the seat at the table of truth, to take your seat of access. You're coming back to the throne. You are not dirty. You are not damaged. You're a child of the Most High God. He loves you with an everlasting love. You've got nothing to prove. You're already approved. I know the abuse made you think that God had forgotten you, but He says, you're not just any guest. You're the guest of honour. Do you know when you leave here today, every person's gonna get this little holder and hopefully stays up. There it is, guest of honour. At this table is where you sit. At this table is where Jesus sits.
But I gotta tell you this last thing. I know you saw the snake on the tree that uninvited you to the table, but I want you to know until we get to heaven, this snake doesn't stop. And the snake will slither up one more time and he sits close because God says, I prepare a table before you in the presence of your enemies. There is a wine that Jesus makes, but there is another wine. And this wine is the dirty water. It's what we try to do in our own strength. And the world will say, hey, even though you're seated at God's table, hey, drink, drink from this dirty cup. And the sad thing is we try and drink from this cup and we will get off from this table unless we do this. Bring the next seat. This is not a table where you are just the guest of honour. This is a table where sin will try and come in. But guess who's seated at this table. His name is Yeshua. His name is Jesus. His name is the risen King. His name is Lord of Lords. And you get all the glory. Jesus be the Name. Jesus be the Name.
The only magnificent Name. Jesus be the Name. Jesus be the Name. Jesus be the Name. That carries all the glory. Glory. Clear the table for a second because I need you to see this last part. Ushers, close them doors. You need to see this. The Bible says that Jesus turns the water into wine, but there is a substitute. And it says, I don't know if we've got this scripture. Jesus first said, my time hasn't come, but on the cross, his time did come. And there's a scripture in John 19. It says this, later that evening, everything had now been finished. So the scripture would be fulfilled. And Jesus said, I'm thirsty. And a lot of you are thirsty for love, thirsty for a relationship, and you will drink anything that's put before you. Someone felt that one. You'll be so thirsty for money, you'll sell yourself. Only fans, you'll degrade yourself for money. You'll settle. Don't settle for that because here's what they gave to Jesus, next verse.
When he was thirsty, they tried to give him a substitute wine. This will cover you for a while, but eventually, watch this, it will poison you if you drink that stuff. So what do you do when the world offers you a substitute, a cheap substitute? When you drink this thing, it will eventually go into your life and it will dirty your life. And you will look not clean, but you'll look like that. But watch this, don't miss this. Here's what Jesus says. If you will invite me in and you allow me to come into your life and me into your life, when you allow Jesus in, here's what He does to the dirty water. Jesus takes the dirty things in your life and He washes you clean as white as snow. I need you to see this because I need you to know that only Jesus, only Jesus can come and make the broken things of your life whole again. Only Jesus can make you clean again. He doesn't just turn your water into white, He moves you from death to life. Ask Emma, what do I do?
How good is this God? Well, here's what sin tried to do to Jesus. Sin came at Him. The devil threw everything at Him, but the devil kept pouring and Jesus kept standing. The devil kept accusing, but He was innocent. I'm so grateful that my Jesus was spotless and blameless. Jesus. I don't have to keep going. I hope you see what happens to the sin, to the shame that you carried in this place. When you take a seat at this table, God doesn't just turn water to wine. He takes death and brings new life. If you're here today and you've never accepted this Jesus that we've been preaching about, I wanna give you an opportunity. The Bible says, if you will believe in your heart and confess in your mouth, this is not just any table. Listen, this is a wedding table. The original table was a wedding. And God says,
would you come back to me? You are the one that I died for. You are the one that I came here for. And I'm asking that we would become one once more. And when I come into your life and when I enter into that life, that empty place that you've been trying to do in your own strength, I'll bring a transformation like you've never dreamed. I'll bring healing. I'll bring the hope with every eye closed and every head bowed. If you're here today, you've never accepted Jesus. Maybe you once walked with him, but the snake slithered in and told you you weren't good enough. Jesus says, come back home. I'm telling you, you don't wanna walk out of here to try to do this on your own strength. So here's what I'm gonna do. With every eye, just keep those eyes closed and those heads bowed. I'm gonna ask you to lift up that hand if you wanna accept Jesus today. I'm gonna lead you in a prayer. I see hands going up already. Lift that hand up
if you want me to include you in this prayer. Awesome. Hands going up. Keep them up high. Let me count these hands. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11, 12, sons and daughters, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20. Put those hands up high. 21, down the back, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27. Come on, Jesus. 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36. Life's been saved. 37, 38. I see your hand. Go, CJ. 39, 40. Over this side of the room. 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50. 51 up the back, 52. Jesus, see these hands. He's redeeming you. You are reaching out. 56, 53, 54, 55, 57, 58. I know I probably missed a hand, but if you got your hand raised, just look at me for a second. I might've missed your hand, but God sees your heart. This is not about numbers.
but the numbers matter, because every number is a name, and every name is important to Jesus, because He wants to change your name broken to His name, Jesus whole. He wants to change your name dirty to His name, Jesus clean. And like God created the heavens and the earth with a word, these words that you speak are not just communication, it will create an invitation for God to come in. Let's say this together. Come on, everybody, say, dear God, thank you for sending Jesus to find me and forgive me. Today, I repent of going my own ways. Today, I follow you. Fill me with your Holy Spirit, rivers of refreshing and living waters. Today, I'm saved in Jesus' name, amen. And amen. Come on, don't go anywhere, but clap your hands and celebrate. Come on, heaven is rejoicing. Amen, amen, amen. Hey, heaven is celebrating, and we are celebrating with you, and we wanna walk this journey together.
