Wisdom From Above | Pastor Carline Lorenzo
This teaching explores the importance of guarding the heart and understanding what truly defiles a person before God. Drawing from the biblical principle that defilement comes from within, the message challenges believers to examine their hearts, thoughts, attitudes, words, and motives rather than focusing only on outward appearances.
In Matthew 15:18–20, Jesus explains that the things proceeding from the heart are what defile a person. Unforgiveness, pride, jealousy, bitterness, evil thoughts, and corrupt speech reveal areas that require repentance and transformation. True wisdom from above calls us to allow God to search our hearts, expose what is not pleasing to Him, and bring us into alignment with His truth.
James 3:17 describes heavenly wisdom as pure, peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. This wisdom is demonstrated not merely through knowledge or religious activity, but through a transformed heart that produces godly character and righteous fruit.
Ultimately, wisdom from above requires humility, discernment, and a willingness to receive correction from the Lord. As we surrender our hearts to Him, He purifies our inner lives so that our words, attitudes, and actions reflect His nature. God is not merely concerned with how we appear outwardly; He desires a heart that is pure, surrendered, and governed by His wisdom.

Let us know where you're joining from.
I love to hear and know where you guys are joining from. Michigan, West Palm, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Santa Ana, California, Lodi, California, another California, Dallas, Texas, we have a Californians in the house. Praise God. Amen. I love Texas. What I really do, yeah, I like Dallas, yeah, I really do like Texas, not gonna lie, Mission Hills, California, Cali, maybe we'll retire in Texas, I don't know, we'll see, but I also like Barcelona, so maybe we'll retire in Barcelona, so we'll know, but I've never been to Barcelona, so I don't even know why I like it. Anyways, it's probably just something I really want to do, but we are going to finish the "What Defiles the Body" series. We are in teaching five, and today we're going to talk about cleansing the spring, the wisdom from above. If you guys remember, on Tuesday, we were speaking about wisdom from below, bitter envy and wisdom from below. Does anybody remember anything specific that stood out to them from Tuesday? From bitter envy and wisdom from below? Anyone? Do you remember anything? Do you look in your notes? See what you wrote? Do you remember? Yeah, go ahead, tell us. Okay. [BLANK_AUDIO] - Um, so I-- - Stand up, Paola, so they can see you. - I remember that when you do have bitterness, when you do have envy, when you have any self,
it was self-seeking. - Self-seeking, yes. That is when you have, that's when you're gonna move in wisdom, but like, not even wisdom earthly, but wisdom from below, like it's demonic. - Yeah. - So that's what, that broke a stronghold, 'cause I'm like, "Oh, like, I'm just being like, wise, "but like, common sense, like, come on, "like, if you did that to me, like, obviously, "you know, you don't deserve that." So it's like justifying its bitterness. Like, when you said, like, when you're justifying your actions, it's because there's some envy in there, bitterness in there and some self-seeking. - Seeking, yeah. - And so I was like, "Wow, so this whole time I've been operating "and like, wisdom from below." - Yeah, praise God, I'm so glad that broke chains off you, amen. Anyone else? - Yeah. - Yeah, so for me, what stood out was-- - They stand up for us so they can see it. - For me, what I remember and what I caught was that wisdom from below will not produce fruit. That was the biggest thing that stood out to me. - Praise God, yeah. It will not produce good fruit. It will produce all the bad fruits, which is chaos and disorder and all these things, stagnation and all these things, yeah.
Anyone from Remnant Institute? I'm just gonna say Remnant Institute, Remnant Institute. Remnant Institute, that sounds good, Remnant Institute. Remnant Institute, revival. I'm just gonna say Remnant Institute, sounds better. Okay, anyone from Remnant Institute, do you guys remember what we spoke about last week on Tuesday? When we spoke about bitter envy, self-seeking and the wisdom from below? I wanna read it out loud if you remember anything or if there's anyone in here that would like to share, you can share also. Anyone? I'm looking at the chat. Okay, no one here either? Okay, so yeah, we spoke about pretty much what Paola, oh, Ruby says I just remembered about the reason we were saved was for us not what God did. I think that was the next teaching that I did, but yes, I did speak about that. It was on the Gospel series that I was doing for my husband 'cause he was out of town, but yes, I did say that as well. But with this series, when we were talking about bitter envy and selfish desires that what it does is it causes you to walk spiritually and both in your spirituality, like you're this spiritual person that discerns all these things, but it's not really discernment from above, it's discernment from below, and you're looking through the wrong window, right? Remember I said that you can have two people
standing in the same room, looking at the same window, and one person can say, wow, there's a butterfly outside this window, and this other person will say, "Butterfly, what butterfly?" I don't see nobody fly, and it's really because of what's in their heart. If there is any bitter envy or self-seeking, they won't see rightly. They'll see what they think that they should be seen. They'll see from their own perspective, and that really can affect the body. Remember I spoke about that effect in the body, not being able to see right and having that self-seeking and not seeking from the Lord, like not seeking what the Lord wants, but seeking yourself will end up being catastrophic. And we were talking about how some people will have stagnation in their lives, and it's because they're self-seeking. They're not seeking God, and God is not, they're not advancing their life because they can't really see what God is doing. They're just seeking their selves, right? Remember that? All right, amen. So we're gonna go through this today. Let me just pray, Father, in the name of Jesus, we thank you that today you are Lord God imparting wisdom from above to us, Lord. Thank you for teaching us how to cleanse the spring
so that we only have fresh water springing out, and we will not no longer have salty water springing out in Jesus' name, and we all say together, amen. Okay, I want you guys to stand up and shake it off. I know we're fasting, but the flesh is weak, but the spirit is willing. Come on, hallelujah, the flesh is weak, but the spirit is willing. I want you guys to say that. Say the flesh is weak, but the spirit is willing. Hallelujah, praise God. We will not be put down because our flesh wants food. We tell the body what to do, the body doesn't tell us what to do, right? Say body, you don't tell me what to do. Amen, come on now. So let's start. The wisdom from above has a signature, and every mark of it is the opposite of the bitter spring. We're going to start in James chapter 3, verse 17 through 18, it says, "But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield full of mercy and good fruits without partiality and without hypocrisy." Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. Okay, that's a key. That the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace, right? You reap what you sow. So in order for you to reap peace, what do you have to reap? What do you have to sow? Peace, and in order for you to even reap peace or reap righteousness,
excuse me, what do you have to sow? Peace, it says now the fruit of righteousness. So what you've reaped is that righteousness. How is that righteousness reaped? You have to sow what? Peace, by those who make peace. It's only by those who make peace that can sow peace. So if you don't make peace, will you be sowing peace? So basically, God is teaching us what you make is what you sow, right? And what you sow, you will reap, right? And so if you sow peace because you make peace with people, then you will reap righteousness, right? Now it says against the wisdom from below, James sets the wisdom from above. Remember, we were talking about wisdom from below on Tuesday. How wisdom from below, the Greek word that was used is a word for a demon, that it was a wisdom from a demon. So whenever you have bitter envy or self-seeking in your heart, a demon is giving you wisdom, literally. It was the only place that that word was used in scripture and it means demon. So whenever there is self-seeking or there is bitter envy, like you have bitter envy towards someone else or you have self-seeking for yourself and everything you're doing, you have to be the one that gains from it. More than likely, the wisdom you're receiving from is from what? A demon from below, literally from beneath, okay? Just because we're fast and it doesn't mean you don't have lips for you to speak. Speak up, amen, amen, amen. If you have breath in your lungs, you don't worship, you got breath in your lungs? Better worship, praise God. So let's keep going. It says against the wisdom from below, James says the wisdom from above,
and its signature reads like the healed version of everything this series has exposed. First, pure, a clean spring before anything else. So something that's pure is something that's not tainted, something that's pure is something that's genuine, like a pure diamond, right? Like a genuine diamond, like an authentic name brand, right? Something that's pure, right? So James is saying wisdom, but the wisdom from below. So he speaks about the wisdom from below, being from a demon. He says, but then the wisdom from above is this, it's first pure, right? And it's a clean spring before anything else, then it's peaceable. So what I know is that first, it has to be pure. So if I get wisdom, or if I think I'm getting wisdom, and I have to compare it against the Word of God, first I have to say, is this pure, is this tainted, right? Is this thought that I just received tainted, okay, it's pure, perfect. Is it peaceable? Because if it's pure, then it's peaceable. Because if it's not pure and it's tainted, there will be no peace in what you just thought about. You have to think about the outcome of what you just thought about doing, saying, whatever, right? You think about it, is this going to bring peace? No, it's not. Okay, so then it might not be pure, right? It might be tainted. Then it's gentle. Wisdom from above is gentle, willing to yield. It's explaining Jesus. Is it in Jesus' pure, isn't Jesus the peacemaker? He is the prince of peace, right? Isn't he gentle?
He describes himself as being gentle and lowly at heart, isn't he willing to yield? How is he willing to yield? On the cross, speak louder, come on, you guys, there is no fear of man. Jesus was willing to yield. What did he do? On the cross Wisdom from above has us is a surrendered tongue Didn't Jesus surrender his tongue on the cross? Even before he got on the cross when they were spitting at him cursing at him slapping him What did the Bible say that he did? He stood silent The entire time said nothing was that wisdom from above? Yes, but we would read that and think oh no If if I were you you would probably spoke back spit back at them slapped them back everything Right, but that is an earthly wisdom and even even deeper or wisdom from below But Jesus was not like that. It says that wisdom from above is full of mercy Who is full of mercy? Jesus literally what he did on the cross says mercy over you, right? The opposite of the ledger keeping heart Wisdom from above is the opposite of a ledger keeping heart. What does that mean? Who can tell me what that means a ledger keeping heart Research less ledger Google Ledger L-e-d-g-e-r It's opposite of the ledger keeping heart The scripture is James chapter three verse 17 through 18 A ledger is a primary book file or digital record used to systematically track organized and summarize financial Transactions financial strength transactions. Yeah, okay So a ledger keeping heart meaning like you literally have a book. Yeah kept in your heart of things Right a book cuz it's saying full of mercy full of mercy means you don't keep a record of what people did Right cuz you you have mercy. You see what they do and you say mercy. It's okay Because did the father keep track of everything you did So that ledger on you was pinned to that cross
That ledger on you that record keeping of everything you did was pinned to that cross And not just everything you did in the past But what you do right now and what you do in the future. That's wisdom from above, right? It says that wisdom from above is without partiality You know what partiality is research that Google that what do you think it means Libby? Yes divided meaning partial meaning you it like it's partial It's like for me and for you or it's half and half. It's partial wisdom from above is does not Is without partiality did Jesus die for some or did Jesus die for all? Did he die partially or did he do it for everyone? The Jews the blacks the whites the everyone right Every single person the Chinese the purple the green doesn't matter He died for everyone right. It says wisdom from above has no evil lie No evil lie without hypocrisy No double fountain no heart and the heart Notice the order purity comes first before peace because peace built over an unclean spring is a false peace So if it's not pure, but you still feel peace, then it's not a righteous peace. It's a false peace So if it's not pure if the wisdom you're getting from above is not pure and it's tainted Then the peace that you think that because some people want to say well Yeah, I felt peace so it must be pure, but where are you getting that peace from? Where is that peace coming from it's a false peace. It's not coming from the Holy Spirit It's not coming from Jesus the Prince of Peace, right and God will not skip the cleansing to get to the calm Why would God fit skip the cleansing to get to the calm? That's not the way the Lord works. He's a God of order. So his order is wisdom from him is first pure Because imagine if Jesus was not pure can he give us peace No, he would not be able to give us peace if he was not pure because everything that is not pure Would just look at him and laugh at him All the demonic Principalities and every single thing that he dismantled on that cross would have looked at him and said he didn't do anything But it said that Jesus made a public spectacle
That's what the Word of God said Had they knew what they did when they put him on the cross, they would have not done it. They didn't understand how pure he was. They didn't understand who he really was. And that's how he brought peace on earth. Come on, you guys. I'm going to make you guys stand up while I teach. That's how he brought peace on. He brought peace on earth, right? Because he was pure. So God will not skip that. And the closing line is the harvest this whole series has been walking toward. The fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. Who made peace for us? Jesus. Isn't he the one that allows us to live in righteousness? So his peace that he made, the fruit is righteousness. The peace that he made for us, the fruit that we receive is righteousness. And it is an everlasting fruit that never dies out. An everlasting fruit that keeps growing and growing every season, every season. You'll always find righteousness in every season. Why? Because of what he sown. He sown peace because he made peace, right? And so God is teaching us, if you want to live righteous,
what do you need to do? So peace. How do you sow peace? You make peace. So right now, if there's a person in your life that there's no peace between you and that person, you need to make peace. You need to make the peace so that's what you're sowing so that you can reap that righteousness, that fruit, right? The healed spring does not merely stop producing bitterness. It begins sowing peace. And righteousness grows where its water flows. So it's not saying that when the spring heals, that it just stops producing bitterness. It's saying that the righteousness will overpower that bitterness. The righteousness will overpower that salty water. It will be spring water because of the righteousness that you've been reaping. But it only comes from those who sow peace. And those who sow peace have to make peace. Why do you think James said that? Anyone? Why do you think the Lord inspired James to write that? What was God's thought? Why do you think he said that? Yes. - Maybe like when he said make peace, like actually maybe reaching out to the person and the people. - Yeah. So why do you think he said that?
- So that we can reach out to the person and make peace? - Yes, but go a little deeper. Yes, he wants you to do that. But why do you think he wants you to do that in order to reap righteousness? - To be like Jesus. To be like Jesus, yes. But what was one thing that, I mean, he did many things. But one of the things that Jesus did, particularly that allowed him to make that peace. What do you do? - Going on the cross. - How did he get on the cross? Before he got on the cross, what did he have to do? - I mean, walk the earth and not sin. - No, we got to get a little deeper, right? It says the Bible says he humbled himself all the way to the cross. That's what the Bible said. He humbled himself. The God didn't humble Jesus. Jesus humbled himself all the way to the cross. So much so, the God made him the name above every other name. So much so that God named him the Prince of Peace. So much so that God named him Shalom. Which means the God of Peace. Shalom. So much so that he received that title, he received that name, that he lowered himself. In order for you to make peace, you gotta get so low.
Right or wrong? You're just gonna easily go to someone that, quote on quote, did you wrong? And just be like, I love you. It's okay. Can we get past this? What I needed to say, I forgive you to feel okay. Huh? Anyone? What I needed to say, it's okay, then hurt me. Without feeling justified, without getting closure, 'cause that's big, we all wanna get closure. I just have to say this, to feel okay. Right? When Jesus was on the cross, did he say, ♪ Da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da ♪ They do not know what they do. Do he name every single thing that they did? Or do he humble himself all the way to the cross, forget everything that they did, and say, Father forgive them. They don't know what they do. The level of humility that takes is huge. But because he made peace on Earth by getting on that cross and taking all the sins of the world because we had a debt. When you feel like someone, when you feel like there's a debt that hasn't been paid by someone that's heavy, you feel like there has to be something to pay that debt. Imagine somebody's child gets killed. That person's parent might feel like there's a debt that needs to be paid for what just happened, right?
And what's typically the debt? Put them in jail, give them the debt sentence. But guess what, you still won't feel peace because they won't bring back your child. You'll still be bitter, you'll still be angry. That bitterness will still spring out of that opening. But when you make peace, what are you going to get? Righteousness. When you make peace, you'll sow peace, and then you'll get righteousness. Imagine that both of those parents say it's okay. Like the Lord forgives you. Doesn't even have to say I forgive you because they didn't feel like there was a debt. They didn't feel like that person that killed their child owed them anything. Isn't that what a debt is when someone owes you something? So they didn't feel like that person owed them anything. They understood you owe God something because you sinned against the Lord. But he forgives you. And he has forgiven me and because he has forgiven me, I can forgive you. But they don't start with I forgive you. 'Cause whenever you start with I forgive you, you feel like you are owed something. Sometimes you can just forgive someone what not sometimes. It should be like this. Just forgive the person without them knowing you forgive them. Because what's the purpose of you telling them
you forgive them? Therefore, them or you, that's for you. You didn't feel good. They needed to know that you forgive them because everything that they did was so bad and you're so important that they need to know. Did Jesus get on the cross and say, Father, I forgive them. What did he say? Father, forgive them for they do not know what they do. See, Jesus had a revelation. He understood that we all are born as sons of wrath, which means it's natural. It's in our nature to do wrong to other people. He caught that revelation and he didn't hold it against people. Instead, he made peace. But it's so hard for us to think like that. You know how helpful that was to me when the last thing I taught on Tuesday about how God both is the God of wrath and righteousness? And how you decide what you want and how everyone is born to know what God, I think it's in Ephesians, that everyone is born as a son of wrath. Everyone, the moment a baby pops out, they're born as a son or a daughter of wrath immediately. And so they decide to go through the path of righteousness. Crazy, 'cause then if that happens, then why am I over here tripping and stressing about what they did?
It's in their nature for them to operate like that. It's okay. I could actually forgive and understand, have a revelation, have understanding. Oh my goodness, it's okay. It's really literally not their fault. They have to choose the path of righteousness. And because I've chosen the path of righteousness, I am going to make peace. Right or wrong? Right? So God, so the Lord told James to put this in the Word of God and I don't think it was just because. You guys see it? Every single thing about wisdom from above is describing Jesus, is describing who he is, right? And so the Greek word is hagne. It means pure, undefiled, holy, from the same family as hygios, holy. The wisdom from above is first hagne. First on the foul, the direct answer to coinio, the defilement of the teaching one. Heaven's wisdom leads with the very purity that the fouled heart lost. So whenever wisdom from above comes, it's gonna be first pure. And this is where, Because if it's not pure first, that peace that you feel might be coming from below, that peace that you feel might not be coming from above. And then when you do not reap the right fruit of the wisdom that came from below,
then that's when you realize, "Uh-oh, where did that peace come from?" I actually felt peace about it, right? But the Lord is letting you know exactly how to compare it to the word, the moment. But if we go back all the way from the beginning with the bitter envy and the self-seeking, you'll feel it when there's bitter envy. You'll feel it when they're self-seeking. Because James tells us that. James says, "Do not try to be so spiritual in both about your spirituality and forget what's in front of you and not see what's in front of you." Remember we were talking about that on Tuesday. So it's not that God's not going to reveal this to you. It's you not paying attention to it and just boasting about how spiritual you are. And it says that you'll be foolish doing that. Isn't that what James said? Don't be a fool doing that. So here's a question for all of you guys. "Measureed against the marks of the wisdom from above, which mark is most missing from your inner life? And what does its absence tell you about your spring?" So essentially what's missing from the wisdom that you receive? Is it purity? Is it peace? Right? Is it let's go down the list. Purity, peace, is it gentleness when you receive wisdom and you release the wisdom? Is it gentle or is it not? Is it willing to yield? Are you willing to yield like Jesus, like our Savior? Is the wisdom you receive full of mercy? Which one is it?
Which one is missing? Is it of good fruits? Do you see good fruit from your wisdom? Is it without partiality or is it partial? Is it without hypocrisy? Right? And is the fruit that you're sowing righteousness? Or is it not? If the fruit that you're reaping is righteousness or is it not? Is it hard for you to make peace? Anyone? Is it hard for you to make peace in this room? There's a few people in my life that has been very difficult to make peace with. Okay, why do you think that is because you feel like they owe you something? A lot of pain and trauma. A lot of what I'm sorry? Pain and trauma. Pain and trauma that you think they caused you? They definitely caused. Okay, have you caused any pain and trauma to God? Absolutely. Has he forgiven you? Absolutely. So, does it make it right for you to hold on to it? No, and I don't want to. It's just there's certain situations where it definitely comes back up and it makes it hard to forget. Do you feel like they owe you an apology? It wouldn't change anything, so no. Because usually when you can't forgive someone or release it,
because you feel like there's a debt. Like there's something that needs to happen. But if there's nothing that needs to happen, then that's when you have to think logically and say, like, I'm really not, I'm really the one that's stuck in this cage. I'm really the one that's stuck behind the cell. Like the book of Matthew talks about. Because if there's nothing that they can do or nothing that they can say, and there's really no debt that you're holding on to, then you're the one putting yourself in that. That cage behind that cell. And that's where wisdom from above would tell you, make peace. Right? And if you hear anything else than that, then it's from below. It's not from above. So then you have to make a decision. Do I want to hear wisdom from below? Or do I want to hear wisdom from above? Above, obviously. So then that means you have to do what? You have to lower yourself and humble yourself, like the Lord Jesus did, so that you can make peace. Amen? Amen. All right. So let's continue to part two. The wars around you are supplied by the desires within you. And honestly, about that is the door out. We're in James chapter four, verse one to two. This is what James said.
He asked a question, where? Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war, yet you do not have because you do not ask. James is not in chapter three and change subjects. Chapter four is the same teaching, reaching its conclusion. Where do the wars and fights among you come from? From without, from difficult people? Where do wars from among you come from? What do you guys think? The wars that you feel amongst your bodies or amongst the members of your body, where do you think that war comes from? From within. It's so seeking that envy and bitterness in your heart. You're thinking about everything we were talking about. You're like, he asked to come from there. It doesn't, it doesn't come just from without anything. It doesn't come from difficult people because a lot of people would think, "I'm going through this war because of someone else. I'm going through these issues because it's their fault, because of what they did, right? That's why these wars, and I feel all these crazy things from my members, right?
No, James says, it comes from your desires, that war in your members from within. Your desires war in your members from within. Exactly what you said, it comes from a thing. Exactly where Jesus located the defilement in Mark seven. Remember when Jesus was talking about the defilement in Mark seven? Ha, he said, it's not what goes in your mouth that defiles you, it's what comes out of your mouth, that defiles you. But what comes out of your mouth comes out of your what? The heart, 'cause out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. So James is saying, where do you think the war that you feel between your members and your body comes from? You think it comes from the outside in? Or do you think it comes from the inside out, right? It comes from the inside out. And Jesus literally told the Pharisees this, right? Every conflict, every outer conflict is supplied by an inner one. So whenever you feel an outer conflict, you wanna first look at what's inside. Because whatever's inside is what's gonna help you, not help you, but that's what governs what you see outside or what you receive from the outside. Yes. - So something that the Holy Spirit showed me too is always show your glasses. So what's inside?
So if you look through my glasses, you're gonna see my point of view vision, because it's not good, but you'll see that, and then it'll show me that you have to, because the insight for our perception is to be purified. So it's even to pray, "Lord, purify my perception," because if it's not purified, and it's coming from the inside out, then it's like if I look through a lens of everybody's against me, that's all I'm gonna see. - Yeah. - And so, yeah. - Yeah, but even sometimes too like, not sometimes, definitely, the Lord tells you, you don't know what's in your heart. That's what God said, Jared. You know, God told Jeremiah, "The heart is desperately wicked." And then Jeremiah's like, "Okay, who can know it?" And then God, what did God said? "I, the Lord, search the hearts." You will never know how defiled your inside is until you ask Him to reveal it to you. And then when you ask Him to reveal it to you, and He starts revealing it to you, it doesn't feel good. It doesn't. Like, and I've experienced this. Like, I'm in a season right now where something will happen,
and I'll perceive it a certain way, and then God will stop me and say, "Karlene, why did you perceive that that way?" And I'm like, "Oh my gosh, that's in my heart." Like, 'cause it's literally not that. And He's like, "No, it's not." And that's where you have to make a decision to say, "Man, oh man, there's something in my heart, and I need it out." Or you can try to justify it. You can try to justify it and say, "No." And what are you just talking about with the justification? Isn't that self-seeking? So when there's self-seeking in your heart, you'll justify it. Because you wanna feel good about what you're perceiving. You don't wanna be wrong about what you just perceive, because if you're wrong, then you're wrong. And you can't be wrong, because you're a self-seeking person, right? And this is what James was talking about. James is like, you walk around like you're so spiritual, you're both thinking about it, but yet you perceive something wrong, and God's trying to highlight to you to keep walking around like you're all good. Sooner or later it's going to explode, right? And so every outer conflict is supplied by an inner one. The fight in the church is fed by the fight in the chest.
So there's a fight going on within the church. That means there's a fight going on in your chest. If you're I don't know if I want to be in this church, then maybe you don't know if you want to be in your chest. There's a disconnect in your chest. There's a disconnect in your heart. There's a partiality in your heart. There's no pureness in your heart. This wisdom that you're receiving is coming from below. It's not coming from above, right? And then James uncovers the tragedy underneath it all. You do not have because you do not ask. And God tells us, ask and you shall receive, knock and it will be open for you. But we don't have because we don't ask the envying, striving heart fights people for what it was always meant to receive from God freely. You're envying what other people have. You're self-seeking all these things and you never ask the one that can give you anything. You don't have it, but then you envy someone else who has it and you're self-seeking it as if you can give yourself everything. But isn't he the one that gives you everything? And didn't he already give you everything on the cross, right? But because you're seeking for more, you don't have nothing. All that worrying, all that comparing, all that bitter wanting and the Father's hand was open the entire time. It says, you do not have because you do not ask. The Father's like, I'm here trying to give you gifts. It says every good gift comes from above. This is why I go back to the sickness thing. A lot of people believe that God gives sickness, but it says every good gift comes from above. Is sickness a good gift?
Why would God, like, why would that be from God? Who lives above? Who lives above? God, Jesus, like they live above. They live in heaven. So then why would I think that God made me sick? That doesn't make any sense. Something that's not good comes from below, right? It says that the enemy came to kill, steal, and destroy. Doesn't the sickness have the ability to kill you? So then who did it come from? The deathful. Came from below. It did not come from above. Breaks a lot of chains off me, broke a lot of chains off me. It really did. And I hope it breaks a lot of chains off of people. It says the envious driving heart fights people for what it always wants, always met till we see from God freely. All that warring, all that comparing, all that bitter wanting, and the father's hand was opened the entire time, the defiled heart grabs sideways at people. The cleanse heart asks upward to God. So when your heart is defiled, you try to get things from people. When the heart has bitter envy and self-seeking, you're looking at people and trying to get things from people. You're trying to get what they have. But when your heart is not defiled and there is no bitter envy, there is no self-seeking, it's only God-seeking that's in your heart. Guess who you're going to look at? God.
Guess who you're going to want to reach from? God. Who you're going to want to receive from? God. Right? Because you can't have bitter envy towards God. There's only one person who kind of did that, not kind of did it. You're going to say it. In the Greek, "hedon" means pleasure, desire, the root of "hedonism." James says these "hedonai" are camped in your members, waging campaigns. The auto wars are proxy battles. The real front line runs through the inner man and no other peace holds until that front surrenders. So the front is the inner part of you. So no other peace will hold, nothing in front of you that's supposed to be peaceful will hold if the inside of you has no peace. But in order for the inside of you to have peace, it has to be surrendered. That's what we were talking about. When you surrender, it's easier for you to humble yourself. Typically, when somebody comes to Christ, they're like, "I don't know what else to do." And then they lower themselves and receive what Jesus did, right? Come on, say, "I am a people that make peace." Hallelujah. Come on, I want the remnant Institute family to say that, type that up, put a dove emoji that you are a people that makes peace in the body of Christ. Stephanie, we are finishing the series on what defiles the body. This is teaching five. If you haven't watched teaching one, two, three, and four, I highly recommend it. You can find it on the, where can they find it? Zoom, not Zoom. Zoom. Or go ahead and ask on school and they'll let you know. On the classroom, thank you, Tiana. Thank you, Tiana's on. Thank you, Tiana. The classroom. Praise God. So here's a question. What out of conflict in your life right now is actually being supplied by a desire, warring inside of you? And what have you been fighting people for that you have never once asked God for? So these are two questions. The first one is,
what out of conflict in your life right now is actually being supplied by a desire? So you feel like you're in a conflict, but it's actually being supplied by a desire that's from inside of you. You feel like you're in a war with your body or in a war with your church or in a war with your leaders or in a war with your husband or your wife or your children. But is it because there's a desire in you that's causing that war? Is it something in you that's causing it to come out outwardly because it's inside of you? Right? And the other question is, and what have you been fighting people for that you have never asked once, you have never once asked God for? I want to hear from someone here. What are you looking at that you want but you never ask God for? Anyone? Yes. Oh, you didn't want to say it? No, I desire for a husband. Okay. You never ask God for it? Not really, not really spoke until like just this fast where I like repented and like let go and forgave and ripped up that sheet that Pastor Rich wanted us to do. And I immediately was like, I'm going to start speaking about my husband coming in the picture. Come on, praise God. So you see what you said, I had to surrender, humble yourself, rip it out of you, and now you're able to go and ask God, right? And not think like, well, no, I don't need to ask God for anything, right? Yeah. Because then you'll be looking at other people who have a husband and that would be idolatry? No, bitter envy, I don't know. Oh, okay. No, that's that's that's that you went all the way over there. I know I did. No, not that. If you ever looked at someone with a husband and desired it but never spoke to God about it, it would be bitter envy. Because you're looking at the person like I you're looking to the side. Yeah. Instead of looking up. Right? No. You see something that somebody has and you look to the side, you're trying to reach from them. You ain't going to get nothing. You look up there. You ask him because he's the one that has everything, right? All right. So somebody on the chat says the desire to continue to be something that is of the world. When I know in my heart that this is not where I should be. Yeah, I believe a lot of Christians and save people go through this. I've gone through it. Where you desire something from the world so much and you know that you shouldn't be desiring that, right? Does anybody have any advice for our sister in Christ concerning that? Who went through that? Nobody in here went through that? Where you desired something from the world? Okay, go have Paola. What you did. Exposed that. I'm trying to remember it. When I desire something from the world that you know that you shouldn't be desiring. That's what she's talking about. So I remember I desired my ex in the world. That's a big one. And you were saved. And I was saved. Ooh child. I was really saved. So what'd you do? I kept surrendering it. I want to give
more. But really, what I can think about right now, I remember just me surrendering it. Like just being real like God. Like I really love him. I really want him. And I just kept saying it but like because later on he did get saved and then guys like okay just because he got saved doesn't mean he's yours like like did you want him to be safe for you or for me oh was it self-seeking it was self-seeking and then actually Pastor Joel is crazy because I was crying and then Pastor Joel like what's wrong and I'm like you know and then he's like oh that's fruit but that fruit doesn't mean it's yours it's for others like that's fruit cuz I was praying I'm like God save him save him save him but you thought it was gonna be for you exactly oh man and where you are right now you clearly oh yes hallelujah praise God yeah I was a minute ago amen but the one thing I hear is that you surrendered it I surrendered it you surrendered it you surrendered it you surrendered it yeah you surrendered it amen what did we learn today render I can't hear you surrender surrender all right tell me in the chat what you guys learned put surrender in the chat hallelujah all right let's continue with section 3 God's covenant answer to the defiled heart is not improvement it is replacement so he don't want to improve the defiled heart he replaces the defined heart he doesn't just want to improve you he wants to replace you right Ezekiel chapter 36 verse 25 to 27 then I will sprinkle clean water on you and you shall be clean I will cleanse you from all your filthiness filthiness and from all your idols I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh I will put my spirit within you and cause you to walk in my statutes and you will keep my judgment and do them imagine Jesus being in this building telling you that you would be like whatever you want just because you don't physically see him don't mean you don't do that right now you should be doing that right now like amen praise God I am a new creation I have a heart of of of of flesh I no longer have a heart of stone amen you sprinkled water on me and I'm clean not I am going to be clean I am clean doesn't shall mean like like ponto like period like that's it right like ask a mission point I shall be clean cleanse yeah he
said he removed all the filthiness from you and all your idols that was an idol he says I remove right I think about that a lot that a lot of people think when they come to Christ I it's supposed to be rainbows and butterflies and cookie cutting and and just there's there's definitely a honeymoon stage it's very yes I love Jesus the moment the honeymoon stage changes what do you think God is doing everything he just said he he did he did he did he did in your spirit man your spirit man receives all of that but what has to happen now now the soul needs to be so to receive all of that and it hurts doesn't it when God starts removing those idols that you know oop that was an idol oop there's that self-seeking oop there goes bitter envy oop there goes you looking at somebody like all these things oop there goes anger there goes pride right oop there goes false humility which is pride and then it starts hurting because you've been walking in these things for 20 years 25 years 35 years whatever the age was that you got saved and now your mind and your nervous system is like hold up I'm not used to not doing these things and that's why I hurt so much because your nervous system is not used to doing the opposite is not used to doing what God wants you to do so then you start freaking out you start freaking out like oh this don't feel right you don't feel safe you start feeling fear anxiety a turning in your stomach this don't feel right it's not supposed to your nervous system is not used to feeling these things that God wants you to do the way that you're supposed to actually walk right but it's really just it's just you renewing your mind reading the word of God and saying this is what God said for me to do he said that he cleansed me he said that he purified me he said that I have a heart of flesh and not a heart of stone and people will read this and say well he said that he did it but I don't feel it well yeah because he did it in your spirit man now your soul needs to actually comprehend and change that that you are, because you don't understand that you've already received everything. There is no like your Holy Spirit has to mature and grow.
Like the Holy Spirit you receive has to mature and grow. No, when you receive the Holy Spirit, He's perfect. He's whole. He has everything, everything's in there. Like the gifts of the Spirit, you received it when you received the Holy Spirit. So someone says, "I want the gifts of healing." Oh, you got it, it's in you. It's in you, it's in the Holy place in you. The Spirit man in you has that. Oh, I wanna evangelize, isn't you? I wanna be able to have words of knowledge. It's in you. I wanna be able to interpret tongues. Oh, guess what? It's in you. All of that is already in you. Pray it over me. For what? You already got it. You got the Holy Spirit. You receive the gift of the Holy Spirit when you receive the Holy Spirit. Like I don't understand. But it's because you're nervous as a you, your soul, your mind, will, emotion, conscious, it's trying to understand that. And because you're not used to it, it's harder. Right? Good?
You guys good? After four teachings of diagnosis, here is God's remedy and count his verbs. I will sprinkle, I will cleanse, I will give, I will take out, I will put within, I will cause. Sprinkle, cleanse, give, take out, and I will put within. So he sprinkles, he cleanses you, he gives you, he takes some things out and then he puts some things within. That sounds like a doctor going to work. Great physician. Six commitments and every one of them is his. They didn't say that, you will do, I will do, and you will do, or they just say, I will do, in every single thing. Because you know what happens? We come to Christ and then we think, we have to do something. I gotta mature in the faith. I gotta do this, I gotta do that. I thought your eye was dead under the water. Once you give your life to Jesus, you're no longer living. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. So is it Christ who lives in me or I who lives in me? Christ who lives in me. So he's the one that's gonna do it. But when you think that you have to do it, that's why it will make it harder for you to get rid of all these things that he did, that he wants to do.
Because now you're kind of warring with him. He's already done it, but then you don't wanna do it. I wanna do something else. And that's the war inside that Paul's talking about. There's a war internally because your heart is not purified yet. And God's like, I already gave you a heart of flesh, and I already removed this heart of stone. Let me actually do it now. Let me take it. And then you're like, oh, I don't think I wanna do that. Well, you kind of just wanna give it up and be like, God do it, right? Here we go. Almost done. He announces a transplant. God, wait, before that, God does not handle the foul heart of self-improvement plan. Imagine, well, it happens now unless people get a transplant. They go for open-heart surgery and they take a valve. I think one time I watched the open-heart surgery like in real life, 'cause in high school, I was very interested in health careers and stuff. And I went to health careers of sciences. Anyways, they had a class where we would go to this hospital and we would see real life surgeries. And I was able to observe a real open-heart surgery on a man. Yeah, it was crazy, it was so cool. I was young, but I loved it,
'cause I used to love some of that. Anyways, so I'm watching, and then they're switching his valve, the heart valve, and they're saying that they took it from a pig. Yeah, they usually take it from a pig. And I'm like, yeah, and it's like, you don't even know if it's gonna work or not, like you have to wake up and see if it's actually working. If not, you have to remove it. That's a self-improvement, like trying to improve it, right? But God is saying, I'm not trying to improve your heart. I wanna give you a transplant. I'm trying to take the entire heart away and give you a new heart, like with no issues. You don't need to use a pig's artery, right? I kinda wanna give you like this brand new heart that came from heaven. That's crazy, that's crazy. The heart of stone, the heart, the heart better in the spring comes out, and the heart of flesh goes in, and his own spirit moves into the new chain. You imagine, are you picturing this? God takes your heart of stone out, puts a heart of flesh inside of you, literally a whole transplant, and then puts your spirit in the heart to govern your heart. So that's why now all that undefilement has to come out. It has to, because he's not the fouls.
He's pure, he's holy, he's set apart. And he's like, oh, that little extra junk. How do you, how do you get it out, right? So he puts his own spirit, right? This is the only cure equal to the disease this series has exposed. You cannot scrub a stone soft, and you cannot filter a spring sweet, but you can receive a new one. You can receive a new filter that springs fresh water, and you can just receive something that's soft and replace it with something that's stony. The cross at Mara, sweet in the water. Remember, remember when we spoke about that, right? Where the Israelites, they were very bitter, and they went to the water, and the water was bitter, and they called it mower, which means bitterness, and then Moses goes and asks God, and God's like, throw the tree in the water. Throw the tree in the water, it'll turn sweet, and that's what he did. Well, guess what God put in your heart? A tree! He gave you a new heart, threw the tree in there, and he's like, there you go. Now it's sweet. He threw the cross in there, like what his son did. Boom. And now everything that comes out is supposed to be sweet. Everything that comes out of your heart
is not supposed to be bitter. It's supposed to be sweet, right? And so, the cross at Mara is sweet in the water. The covenant in Ezekiel replaces the well. What God asks of you is not the surgery, only the surrender. He's not telling you, you need to do the surgery on you. He's saying surrender, because I've already done the surgery. Because if you think you have to do something, you're gonna be doing more work than you're not supposed to, and that's why you feel all this heaviness, and there is no peace, right? You walking around like, I need to do this, I need to do that, and God's like, I already did it. You kinda just need to surrender, because think about a surgery when you go to surgery. Can a person be awake getting surgery done? Heck no. You can't be awake getting surgery done. Imagine getting open heart surgery done when you awake. You'd be like freaking out. Your nervous system will go haywire. You will start being like, get it off of me, get it off of me, what are you doing, what are you doing, what are you doing? Imagine you can't feel your body, but you're up, watching somebody opening your heart up with the blood and everything. You're like, trippin', you're trippin', that's why they don't let you see it. They block you with a C-section, for that reason,
but you can feel all of it, and for me, I've had four C-sections. I'm laying on there, I can't have my husband talk to me, I'm like, don't talk to me, don't touch me. As a matter of fact, take this blanket off me, put worship music, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. Because I start freaking out. The first time I had a C-section, I almost passed out. I almost passed out because half of my body is numb, but I'm up. What? And then they're cutting me, and they're ripping. I'm like, hold up, I need to breathe. Take this off me, please, I can't breathe. 'Cause in my mind, can't comprehend what's really going on. But the moment I surrender, I'm telling you, I'd have had four C-sections now. Every single time, I'm like, I tell them beforehand, don't talk to me, put worship music. I tell my husband, don't talk to me, I love you, just don't talk, just hold my hand. Don't put no covers on me, I don't want no coverage. I think I'm cold, I'm not cold. Take it off me, I need to breathe. I started talking, when I had my mastectomy, I knew this was gonna happen.
I told my doctor, I said, I need worship music in that room. Can I do it? She said, yeah, praise God. Then she started talking to me about my children, and I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah, then I said, hold on, Jesus, I love you, boom. The next moment I'm waking up, and I'm saying, thank you, Jesus, when I woke up, before they put me down, I need to be talking to Jesus. 'Cause I need to surrender, because you're about to work on me, like, I might as well be a vegetable, 'cause I don't know what's going on. We're gonna go to section four. And this is the last section. The prayer that ends this series is the prayer that opens the next one. Creating me a clean heart. Psalm, chapter 51, verse 10 says, creating me a clean heart, oh God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Gave you the heart, then gave you the spirit. Mind you, before Jesus came,
you have David asking for this. Creating me a clean heart, oh God. And renew a steadfast spirit of me. What is David asking? Remove this old heart, put a new one, and give me your spirit. And David is asking this before Jesus came. David prays the one prayer that answers everything this series has uncovered. And he chooses his verb with precision, create. It is a word of Genesis. the making of something from nothing. A work only God can perform, create. Can we ever create? I don't know who created chairs. I just know I sit on them. And I don't know if the person who thought about it, where they got that idea from. Did it just create it? Where did they get the idea from? Who gave them the thought? But they don't think that. They think they're a genius. But they don't realize maybe it was just God using them to create something that he wanted them to create. 'Cause he's the creator. The only one that can do it. He could have just said, let there be a chair. But during that time, we were already in a fallen world because of what Adam and Eve did.
So guys like, hmm, I'm gonna just give you the idea and you're just gonna create it. Boop, chair, boop, TV, boop, this and this and this and that. And you're thinking, I'm a genius. I created a chair. And guys like, I know you did it. That was really me, but I'll let you think it's you. Who gave you the thought? Well, you think you gov in your own thoughts? Trippin', you don't gov in your own thoughts. You're drippin', they ain't no way you're govin' in your thoughts, right? David does not pray, "Help me clean my heart." He prays, "Creatin' me a clean heart." Confessing what the cleansing he needs is beyond his own reach. This is where the far heart finally finds rest. Not in managing the tongue, not in filtering the spring, not in ruling the envy by willpower, but handing the whole inner man to the creator for a creator for a creative act. And mark where this prayer positions you from what comes next. A person praying, "Creatin' me" has already gone low because you're not the creator. So you have to submit to someone who does create. Isn't that hard to do? Doesn't that require you to be humble and lower yourself, right? So God is saying, "Before you even ask for this new heart, you're already low. You're already humble." They have admitted need, drop the boast, and take the posture of the one who beats his chest before God.
Someone who doesn't acknowledge that it's God literally, literally, it makes me laugh, when you breathe, you're saying, "Yow way." The Bible says it reigns on the just and the unjust. If me and someone else is driving a car and we're stopping at a red light and they're not saved and I'm saving, it's raining. Isn't it raining on the just and the unjust? Am I not the just and the person's the unjust? Is it just raining on them or not me? Or is it raining on both of us? Do you think that he's any respect to a person's? No, God is no respect to a person's. But the person who acknowledges that God is the one that does it is the person who surrendered, is the person who's low. Right? You have to admit your need. You don't beat your chest before God. The loneliness is the very ground our next series stands on. For God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. That's what I'm teaching next. That God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. And the humble are simply those who have stopped defending the old heart and start asking for the new one. Are you going to stop defending your old heart and just ask God to continue creating a new heart in you that he already gave you in the spirit man? Or are you going to keep defending your old heart? You feel something and you start defending it so you can feel good. Or are you going to look at it and say no, this is not the heart that I'm supposed to have.
This is the old heart. And I don't want it. Take it. Take it from me. Right? In the Hebrew bara means to create, use in scripture of God's creative acts as in Genesis 1-1. David asked for a bara, work in his chest, an act of divine creation, not human renovation. This clean heart is not achieved. It is created and only one creator holds that verb. Only one person. It's heavy when you think about that. Because I wake up and I'm like, I'm not awake because I did something. I'm awake because he decided to lend me his breath this morning. It says that he lends you his breath. You're breathing on God's breath. attack, a stroke, anything, stop breathing, whatever. But then he decided, "Yes, okay, wake up again." New mercies every morning. I think about children in the womb, they spend nine months in water. There's water in that room, in the pacenta, that's how when the water breaks, it's just water. They're in water for nine months, but they're breathing, and they're eating, and they're good, and they're growing at the same time. You did something? No. He didn't do nothing. You were just a vessel, to be honest. Literally, think about it, a human being can create a placenta with water, with a baby in there for nine months, guess what? All of you were in water for nine months.
Who do you think you relied on? Your mother? No, you relied on God and you're all here. I think that's a miracle. I don't know about you. Every time I give birth to a child, I might thank you, Jesus. I thank you, Lord. It's just a miracle. I look at the babies. When you have children or whoever has children, you know what I'm talking about. You look at them and you're like, "Oh, my gosh," because when you're about to give birth, it is scary, it's scary when you're about to give birth, because you don't know what's about to happen. You're like, "Oh, my gosh." What's about to happen? Right? You're like, "Oh, my gosh." Like, "This is crazy." And then when you hold that little baby, you're like, "Oh, my gosh." And then you start really like, "Just oh, my gosh. I love you, guys." You start crying. You're thinking about everything else that happened. You know what I'm talking about, Selima? You start freaking out when you know that baby is about to come out, because then you're not so sure if you really wanted to be pregnant. Girl, you about to be -- what do you mean? You were already at the point, like, you might as well just do it. But at that point, you start thinking your whole life around, "Can I please not do this?" Because at that time, yeah, your body has to kind of do what it needs to do.
But for nine months, you ain't did nothing. God created everything in that womb, in that water. Isn't that crazy to think about? I got blood running through my veins because Jesus literally allowed blood to run through my veins. I could have gotten a blood clot. You know healthy people die, too. Literally, he has the keys of death and hell, Jesus. That is someone you should have reverence for, not yourself, but the Lord. That's what humility is. That's what I'm teaching next. God blesses the humble, but he opposes the proud. If you get up and you think, "I did something," trip him, you prideful, you did nothing. We did nothing. My business is going well. Oh, what is that called? I built my business well. Mm. Battle. Yes. You? Yes. Yeah. Everything you're saying is really fitting towards me because-- Can you speak a little louder? Everything that you were saying, I feel like it's fitting towards me because you said that you're more like reverence for yourself than God, and I find that in this season, I feel like I've been doing that to my soul. Amen. The next series is going to be good.
Just reflect on it. I was there before. I was there before. I'm not sitting here saying, "I'm so humble," oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. Because if I think I know it, all I know nothing. So I don't know nothing. Please tell me everything. I don't know nothing. But I have to make a decision. When situations come up, I have to make a decision to humble myself. God can't humble me. I have to willingly humble myself. Jesus humbled himself. Does it say God humbled Jesus to the cross? It says Jesus humbled himself all the way to the cross. He humbled himself. He came from heaven himself. He came down a little lower than the angels to become human. Literally God came down and humbled himself to show us how to be humble. Literally the Creator humbled himself. It blows my mind. I can't understand it. I don't comprehend it. I don't make no sense. You created the world and then you decided to humble yourself and come down to the world. What? Trippin', say trippin', you trippin', you trippin', you need to wake up, you need to wake up, you need to wake up, you need to wake up. First of all, he literally humbled himself to what he created. He created trees and humbled himself and put himself on the same thing he created.
He humbled himself to the people who killed them, who he created. For them. Ha! And we're still thinking that we got it like that. Mm-mm. I'm straight. You got it. Amen? For a discipleship because it's 5.22. Are you ready to stop renovating and start receiving? Who? Who in here renovating? I'm not renovating. He said, "I'm done with that. I hear you. I'm not in the season of renovating. I'm in the season of receiving." See, I'm not renovating. So, I need you guys to pray, create in me over your heart this week and to walk into the next season low enough for the grace God gives the humble. I want you guys to prepare yourself for that series. It's going to be really, really good because James says God gives God gives double the grace of the humble, like that word means double the grace because you received grace already by when you're saved but then he gives you grace again when you're humble. So, you get double the grace. Boom, boom. But then he opposes the proud. That word for oppose means he fights you. He fights the proud. Mm-hmm.
You want to fight with God? Straight tripping. You're going to lose every time. Come on. Let's stand up. Let's pray. Hallelujah. You guys good? I love it. I really do love teaching you guys. My husband asked me, "You love teaching?" I said, "I do." I said, "I love when I look at people and I see that James are getting broken off of their minds." I guess so happy because what the Lord did for me in these scriptures is what He's doing for you guys. And I just love it. These are just some of the things that I went through over the three and a half years. I was just learning with God, reading and learning and I'm just like, "Oh my gosh." And just applying it. Now, I'm just happy to be able to release it. Amen? All right. So, let's pray. We are our people that will not renovate the heart. We surrender to the great physician. So we ask, we pray. Come on. Say it louder. We pray.
Creating me. A clean heart, O God, and renew a step of spirit within me. I humble myself just like Jesus humbled Himself. Thank you for this new heart. Thank you for this renewed spirit. Father, thank you for the revelation of being humble because you blessed the humble. You give grace to the humble and you oppose the proud. Say, "We are not prideful. We are humble." In the mighty name of Jesus, amen, hallelujah. Praise God, amen, amen, Elizabeth, I'm glad. I like to put some humor in there. Elizabeth says I make her chuckle. Do I make you guys chuckle? I make you tickle. Okay. All right, so I'll see you guys next time at 6 o'clock. God bless you guys. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] (soft music) (soft music) (soft music)
