The Resurrection Truth by Dr. Pete Norris

Today, El Poweller in the Word. And he resurrected out of the dead. So that there be no more sin existing in the earth. Because he conquered sin. Because death reigned because of sin. And now righteousness reigns because of Christ. And because of that, me and you are some kind of something. And now on the inside of us is a resurrected being that's pure life. And no death constains us. So we choose based on our authority of who we see ourselves. You were always certain of the future, but you didn't know who you were. And the church still don't because we're still... Let's get to the cross. I don't have any business at the cross anymore. Welcome to Power in the Word. For most believers, the cross is a focal point and a powerful symbol. But is it the most significant event when we compare it to the resurrection? So today, Dr. Norris shows us in the Word of God that it's the resurrection that determines the freedom from sin. And our eternal life. It's truly a powerful message. So you stay with us. And we were talking last week about the resurrection truth. And I think very few people... Everybody preaches the cross. And I'm all for the cross. But everybody preaches the cross. But the reality is that we need to understand that if it hadn't been for the resurrection, you'd still be lost. And without the resurrection, you and I would not be alive. That's why Paul said, I'm progressively determined to know Him and the power that's inside that resurrection. In Philippians 3 and 10.

So we understand that the resurrection is the ascension. But we know that something changed about Jesus when He resurrected. Because the Bible goes on to tell us that He was declared the Son of God because of the resurrection. In Romans chapter 1 verse 4. But in Acts chapter 2 verse 36, I want you to see something. Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus. Now I want you to understand something. That word made there. When you were in church and they made you do something, what does that mean they did? So God has made this man whom you crucified both Lord and Christ. So we realize that He's no longer Jesus, right? That Christ is not His last name. That's His ascension power and the resurrection that brought Him the new revelation. So we've got to understand that Jesus left the earth, but Christ is still in us. And we're in Him. Now when we can get a revelation of that, we can understand that, we can understand what the resurrection was about. How many of you know that when He resurrected, you and I resurrected? See, a lot of the church has a misunderstanding. They think we're going to resurrect again. And the reality is that you and I already resurrected. There's a whole lot of things that's already happened that we don't have knowledge that's already happened. And so tonight I want you to take your Bibles and I want you to turn with me to 2 John 1, verse 9. And we're going to get going here. Whoever, say whoever. How many of you know that's the same whoever that's in John 3, verse 16. So whoever, whoever transgressed and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. Now guys, I want you to think about that just a minute. The Bible says whoever transgressed and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. Now, I want you to understand transgression deals with the spirit. It has nothing to do with the soul or the body.

Transgression is spirit. He was wounded for our transgression, He was bruised for our iniquities, and the test of His peace was upon Him with His stripes we were healed. So that deals with the spirit, soul, and body. That's why Paul, after he fell with Bathsheba, what did he say? He said, Lord, forgive me, not for my transgressions, but for my iniquities. Why? Because iniquities always deals with the soul of a man. Psalms 103, bless the Lord my soul, do what? Who forgiveth all thy iniquities and healeth all thy diseases. That's the benefits of serving Him in Psalm 103, verse 1-3. So we see that whoever transgressed does not abide, that means live or habitate, in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. In other words, guys, there's a whole lot of people that's not preaching Christ, or the doctrine of Christ. They're preaching the cross, and I'm all for the cross. But Jesus got on the cross, and Jesus was buried, but Christ resurrected. And He became Lord and Christ because of the resurrection, because God made this man, Jesus, to be both Lord and Christ. So we've got to understand that if He's the Lord of lords, there's some little lords. Right? That's us, right? So if He's Lord and Christ, remember the woman that was caught in adultery? And she looked at her and she said, where's your condemners? She said, Lord, I don't have any condemners. Now think about it just a minute. He said, well, I didn't condemn you either. Go and sin no more. But you've got to get to Revelation there, because she called Him Lord. He hadn't even died and resurrected yet. She was going to call Him what He already was, even though it hadn't happened yet. That's why He told her, He said, I don't condemn you. Go and sin no more. Now look at the word sin in that text.

It's not a verb. It's a noun. In other words, once she recognized Him as Lord... He was recreated and born again, and He knew she wasn't going to sin anymore because you don't have a sin in nature anymore. That's why John 3, 17 said, I didn't come into the world to condemn the world, but through me the world might be saved. There's no condemnation of those in Christ Jesus. So we understand that the doctrine of Christ acknowledged how God is and who He is in our lives. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. Now watch that. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. Now haven't you ever known in Golossians 2 and 9, we're the Godhead and bodily. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Verse 10 says we're complete in Him. So you can't separate me from the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. So for Him to be the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit, He had to have a resurrection. So the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. That's why He said, Jesus said, If you've seen me, you've seen the Father. Why do you ask to see the Father when you're looking at Him? In John 17, what did He pray? That we would be one as Him and the Father are one. See, you never can separate from the Father. That's why Jesus could look at the people and say, Look, I'm standing right here with you, but I'm in heaven. The woman called Him Lord ahead of time because she recognized what He was going to be. We've got to understand that that woman was recreated right there. Anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive Him into your house, don't even greet Him.

So what did He say? He said, anybody that's not talking about the resurrection, don't receive Him in your house and don't even greet Him. Now we would be letting a lot of people we wouldn't be talking to. Because very few people is preaching the doctrine of Christ. Because that's Him resurrected. Without the resurrection, He'd still be the Son of Man. But His resurrection not only made Him the Son of Man, but made us the Son of God and made Him the Son of God. So, go to Revelation 1. Now, if we understand that the truth of the resurrection, how many of you know that you're resurrected? How many know if they had not been for the resurrection, you couldn't be born again? You could not have been a new creation. See, I want you to understand that when Jesus died and was buried, you were obliterated and made new. One minute you were a loser and the next minute you were a God. Because the Bible said there were a new creation, old things have passed away and all things have become new. Everything about you become new. Now think about it just a minute. If old things have passed away, that old guy died. And that new guy is alive. That's what the resurrection was about. You were immediately obliterated and no longer existed as an old man. You were a recreated man even though you didn't know it. So, go to Revelation 1.17. Because everybody loves Revelation. That's a book of eschatology, you know. But it says the revelation of Jesus Christ.

And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying to me, Do not be afraid. I'm the first and I'm the last. Now, look at the rest of that. Look at verse 18. I am he who lives and was dead. But behold, I am alive forevermore, amen. And I have the keys of Hades and to death. Now, I want you to understand something here. When we understand these words Hades and death, most people will say hell and death. But the translation is not what it says. In other words, what happened with his death, burial and resurrection, he said, I am he. Now think about that. I am he. I'm not going to be he. I am he. I'm not going to be your bread of life. I am the bread of life. I am the light of the world. I am the light. What did Moses say in the beginning? He said, Moses said, I can't go. He said, tell them the I am sent you. See, he's been the I am all the time because he said he was the first and the last. He was the author and the finisher of our faith. That's why Ephesians chapter 1 verse 6 says, Don't you think anything I start in you, I'm going to bring it to completion? See, you're thinking about a process.

He's talking about a process. See, he knew before you ever got started that you would appear holy without spot, without blemish, because he knew he was going to deliver you before you were ever deliverable. You need to get that. He delivered you before you were ever deliverable. Are you with me? See, everything's already happened in the past and you're looking real good in the future. You just ain't recognized yourself yet. See, God sees you one way and you see yourself another way. But he said, I am he who lives. I am he who lives. I am he who lives. Turn to someone and say, I am he who lives. How many of you know you're never gonna die? He was dead. I was dead. But behold, I'm alive forevermore now. Turn to someone and say, I am alive forevermore. Who's he talking about? Amen, he said. So be it. And then he said, I have the keys. I have the keys, the authority of Hades and of death. In other words, listen to me. The reason he conquered death so that there'd be never no more sin. Now, you've got to get this. You've got to get to this. I've got to get real heavy with you. The reason for death was sin. So he went to the cross and took your sin. And then they put him in death and he died. And he resurrected out of the death so that there'd be no more sin existing in the earth because he conquered sin because death reigned because of sin. And now righteousness reigns because of Christ. And because of that, man, you're some kind of something. And now on the inside of us is a resurrected being that's pure life and no death sustains us. So we choose based on our authority of who we see ourselves. You were always certainly the future, but you didn't know who you were.

And the church still don't because we're still... Let's get to the cross. I don't have any business at the cross anymore. Pastor, preach the cross. That's probably not going to happen because I don't need the cross. Are you listening to me? He don't want the cross. How many of you know Hebrew is a crossing over? The actual Greek word for Hebrew is crossing over. How many of you know he was crossing over? It's you and I was too. See, you were already saved before you knew you were saved. Nobody just didn't tell you where. You should have listened to me. Because think about it a minute. The church don't know this. The church don't know. They have no idea who they are. That's why they're still talking about the cross. I don't need a cross. Amen? I need a resurrection. Because if he just took my sin and he hadn't conquered death, I still would have died. But Jesus said, I tell you what, I'm going to go to the cross and I'm going to take your sin. And I'm going to take your sickness and I'm going to remove all of it. Because the reason for... Listen to me. The reason for sickness is sin. And when he took the sin, he said, okay, now you can bury me. I'm full of sin. And they buried the sin. And then the sin got up because he took the sin to remember it no more. And then he cast your sin as far as the east is from the west. Now you're thinking about talking about this way and this way. He was talking about that way and this way. So me and you are free. Absolutely free.

The only thing that's not free is your emotions and what you think about yourself. See, your subconscious makes decisions that your spirit don't want you to make. That's why there's always opposition and strife in your life. Now watch this. Go to Matthew 28. Everybody good with me? Matthew 28. And the angel of death said to the woman, do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. Now watch this. Verse 6. He is not here. For he is, as he said, come and see the place where the Lord lay. Now watch it. Everybody's being changed because of his resurrection. Come and see the place. They didn't come to say, come and see the place that Jesus lay. If you know, he prophesied in the Old Testament that this Lord was going to come. Right? Now, I want you to see something. He died as Jesus. He resurrected as Christ our Lord. So I want you to go see the place where the Lord did lay. He's not here. See, this guy didn't tell the truth. Read your Bible. He said he's not here. For he's risen. And he said, come and see the place where the Lord did lay. Now wait a minute.

He's omnipresent, right? They were going by what they saw. He was everywhere. If you think Santa Claus is everywhere, Jesus is really everywhere. Now think about it a minute. This man had never seen anything get up out of death. He could not. Listen to me very carefully. He could not have gotten out of death if he hadn't conquered sin first. So he became sin and went through the process of death. So that he could resurrect out of death and conquer sin and death. And so if he conquered, that's why John said, John 129, Behold, the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world taketh away. How many of you know that word taketh away? The word taketh in the actual. Greek means arrow, which means to rise up. In other words, what he said, he said this lamb is going to rise up out of death and he's going to take the sin away. Because it was death that brought sin and the result of sin was death. And he said there's no longer more death because he's going to step out of death. I don't want somebody to hear me. He stepped out of death. You hear me? He stepped out of death. You and I were dead and he... Oh, we stepped out of death too. How many of you know he stepped out of death? We don't understand the reality of what he stepped out of death. The spirit of Christ death couldn't contain because that was a result of the resurrection. So Jesus left the earth, Christ never left the earth. Why would he come back if he never left? I'm going to leave that alone. John 20, stay with me. And they said to him, woman why are you weeping? She said to them, because they've taken away

and I do not know where they've laid him. They've taken away my Lord and I don't know where they've laid him. Oh Lord, I see this. Thank you Lord. I've never seen this till right now. Never seen this till right now. Let's go back to 13. And they said to her, woman, why are you weeping? And she said to them, because they have taken. They've taken away my Lord. Now watch this, she's seen him as Lord. Oh Lord. She saw him as Lord. She saw him as Lord. Go to 16. Jesus said to her, Mary, listen to me. Once she recognized he was Lord, she was born again and he could speak to her spirit then. And so he said, Mary. She turned and said to him, teacher, still following the Jewish right, Jewish law, because they called him teacher. But once he said Mary, after she recognized him as Lord. Now look at verse 17. Jesus said to her, don't cling to me now. Don't get in my area. Don't get too close to me. See, she just wanted to touch him then. For I have not yet ascended to my Father, but go tell my brethren and say to them, I am ascending to the Father. And tell them that I'm ascending to your Father too now, Mary. And to my God and now Mary, your God. Watch verse 18. Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord and that he had spoken these things to her. Now I want you to see something. Go with me to 19 and 20. Then the same day being the first day of the week. Now watch this. Watch this. This is powerful. This is powerful. The same day at evening. Now he must have saw Mary in the morning, right? And that afternoon, the first day of the week, he shows up. But if you'll notice something, he spent the day with the Father.

Because he said, I am ascending to the Father and your Father and my God and your God. What he was trying to do is when she called him teacher, he was bringing back the Old Testament and the New Testament and revealing them in Christ. And the same day at evening being the first day of the week when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews. You ever heard people say that Jews don't show up when you got living in a bunch of fear? He showed right up in that upper room and they were afraid of the Jews. Jesus came and stood in the midst and said to them, peace be with you, man. Now, listen to me. We see that as peace be with you. That ain't what he was saying. He said, peace is in the room now. Because what did he tell them? He said, I'm not going to give you, I'm going to give you my peace. Not the peace the world brings. He wasn't saying, I want there to be a little bit of peace in this room. I'll pray for y'all and there's going to be peace. He said, peace is in the room. Peace is going to be with you. Peace is going to be with you. I'm here. You don't need anything else. You don't need for this room not to shake anymore. You don't have to be afraid of the Jews now. I've shown up. But if you notice, he didn't walk through the door. He just showed up in their midst. Bam, here I am. That'd get your attention too. But I think that might bring a little bit of fear. If y'all in a room one night and I show up and y'all ain't seen me come through the door. Think about it. And he said, peace be with you. Peace be with you. Peace be with you. He was not saying, I'm going to give this room peace and because I'm here, you're okay. He said, peace has stepped in you now. And then what did he say? He said, my peace, I'm going to give it to you. Let not your heart be troubled. Believe in me. Believe in the one that sent me. So what was he telling them? I'm going to give you my peace. Peace has stepped in here. The woman with adultery, she left in peace. The woman at the well, she left in peace. that's why he always said peace be with you. He wasn't saying I'm gonna give you my peace. A lot of times he said shalom, which was health and wealth and peace. In other words, he was saying I've given you everything. Guys, we got to see it.

We got to see it. Did I read 20? I didn't, did I? When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw it. Now I want to say something here. I want you to listen to me very carefully. If I've got a glorified body, how are you gonna see my hands and how you gonna see my side? Why did he only show him the hands and the side? What did he say? He said you're always in the palm of my hand. Why did he show him the side? Because that's where the relationship come out of. So the reason he showed him his hands and his side is because he wanted to know that he had them and that they always had a relationship with him. Jesus on the cross, the Roman soldier pierced his side and you and I ran out because we were in him before the foundation of the world. We died with him, we resurrected with him, we were buried with him, we were ascended with him, we glorified with him, and now we're him. And that's pierced inside of us. Now watch this. Let's go to 25. The other disciples therefore said to him, we have seen the Lord. And he said to them, unless I see, unless I see in his hands the print of the nails and I put my finger in the print of the nails and put my hand into his side, I will not believe. How many of you ever said, Lord if you'd show me a miracle, I'd believe. You got to realize something. These old boys didn't have the Spirit of God in them yet. He didn't breathe on them yet. But he was telling them, I got you in the palm of my hands. You know, he said there's a scripture that you can't snatch me out of my hands. Now watch this. And they pierced his side for the reason of blood and water flowing out, which is 80% of our bodies is water and our life is in the blood. So you and I flowed out of him. Think about it. This is resurrection truth. Look at verse 26. After eight days his disciples were again inside and Thomas was with him. Jesus came, doors being shut, he stood in the midst and said, I want to give you a piece to you. See, isn't it amazing he showed up and give Thomas what he wanted. He'll give you what you want. You're just afraid to ask. Because here's the thing. Look at verse 27. I want you to see it. Then he said to Thomas, reach your finger here, buddy. Look at my hands. Reach your hand here. Put it in my side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing. He wasn't correcting Thomas. He was loving on Thomas. He said, buddy, I'll do whatever it takes for you to believe. Put your hands in my side.

Put your hands in the holes in my hand. But how did he have holes in his hand and pierced in his side if he had a glorified body? 28. And Thomas said to him, my Lord and my God, this is my Lord. This is my Lord. You can say what you want to about old Thomas, but he got it. This is my Lord. My Lord. Is he your Lord? Do we know him as Lord or is he just keeping us out of hell? If you notice, he hadn't mentioned anything about hell to any of these people. Let's go to verse 30. And truly Jesus did many other signs in the which are not written in this book. 31. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God, and that believing you may have life just in his name. Guys, think about it a minute. He makes two powerful statements there. These things are you may have life in his name. Believe that he's the Christ. What did John say? John said, if you'll believe he's the Christ, then you're born again. You're born of God. Right? All you got to do is believe he's the Christ. What did he ask Peter? Who do you say they am? What do you say they are? But look at Peter's life after he said that. He still cussed a few people out. Whacked off a guy. Isaiah, right? Peter had trouble with his old temper. But think about Peter a minute. Think about Peter a minute. I want you to think about Peter a minute. I want you to really listen to me about Peter a minute. Peter was the one that God used to bring a message that 3,000 was converted. I've always thought that was payback for what happened on Mount Sinai to equal out. And then I heard the Lord say something to me, and this is going to be pretty heavy for some of you to swallow. Remember what he told Job? Job went through a very difficult time, and Job lost everything. He lost his seven sons, three daughters, lost all his kids, lost all his wealth. And then God said in the last chapter of Job that he doubled everything he had. Well, I begin to think I'm very smart. It is. That's how smart I am. If he gave Job double, then he must have given him 14 kids. Or did he resurrect those seven and give him seven more? If you get double of everything, that means you've got to have double. If I have seven kids and I lose them and I get double, I don't get seven more kids. That ain't double. Because the calves, the lambs, the herds, the camels, all that was doubled. So he must have got 14 kids. And I can preach you a message on those three daughters Job had, but I ain't. Because they're symbolic of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. Which is a reproduction of a new generation that

was coming about after the loss of Job. Because Job was symbolically, literally, a Christ in example. Because Job went through a nine-month process giving birth to something. He lost everything to get everything so that you'd be restored. It's a picture of the Old Testament and the resurrection of the new at the end of Job. It's not so you can feed it and find out what your problems are. It's where you can find out and see how big God is. Job's oldest book in the Bible, by the way. You know that. I know you know that. But let's go to Romans chapter 1, verse 3. Stay with me now. Because God's good. Concerning his son, Jesus Christ, our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the what? Bless you. Verse 4. And declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness. How? By the resurrection from the dead. So he was revealed to be the Son of God because of the resurrection of the dead. He was not the Son of God before. He was the Son of Man. That's why 1 John 3 and 8 says that Jesus, the Son of God, comes to destroy the works of the devil. Not the Son of Man. Jesus didn't destroy the works of the devil. When he became the Son of God, he destroyed the works of the devil. Because what happened? That was the resurrection. Thank you for joining us today at Power in the Word.
