We explore how offense begins, the danger of unresolved anger, and how quiet judgment can begin to shape the heart. You’ll be guided into the freedom that comes through forgiveness and surrendering pain fully to God. Each lesson points you back to healing, love, and the posture of Christ.
Welcome back to the bitterness course. We are in part three of the bitterness course and Part one and two I strongly encourage that you guys go and watch Because it actually flows into part three and part three We're gonna talk about the danger of unresolved anger part one We spoke about what bitterness is and how it's a root and in part two We spoke about what causes the root and part three We're gonna talk about the danger of unresolved anger and how an open door becomes a legal access point in part two again We talked about how the enemy engineers that offense and how the person who is who wounded you as the instrument But you were the real target and how every time you nurture the wound you are watering the seed the enemy planted today I want to talk about what happens when anger is not resolved because this is where an open door becomes a legal problem in the There is a difference between Righteous anger and unresolved anger and it is important that we understand both Righteous anger is a response to injustice. It is the kind of anger God himself has towards sin So are the oppression of the innocent toward evil the kind of anger when surrendered to God can become fuel for intercession for advocacy fight for change Ephesians 4 chapter 4 verse 26 to 27 says in your anger do not sin Do not let the Sun go down while you are still angry and do not give the devil a foothold But the anger Paul is addressed in Ephesians 4 is the anger We hold the anger we sit with the anger we carry to bed and wake up with in the morning That's the anger that a Paul is talking about the anger that we wake up with in the morning and he tells us clearly Why we cannot afford to do that do not give the devil a foothold he says the Greek word for foothold is topos it means a geographical territory a Region of access a place where someone has the legal right to stand when you hold unresolved anger overnight When you let it settle instead of bringing it to God you are granting the enemy a topos in your life Not because you were wrong to feel the anger You may have had every reason to feel it but because you chose to keep it instead of releasing it becomes all Unresolved anger and you need to release it We see this in the life of King Saul when young David began to be celebrated by the people when the woman sang That's all I had killed his thousands
But David his ten thousands something shifted inside us all first Samuel chapter 18 verse 8 says that Saul was very angry and the saying Displeased him and from that day forward Saul kept his eye on David. He held the anger He let it settle in he did not bring it to God and what started as wounded pride became obsession Obsession became paranoia paranoia became murderous pursuit Saul spent the last years of his reign not building his kingdom but chasing the very man God had anointed to succeed him unresolved anger did not just cost all his peace It cost him his purpose. Now. This is especially significant when it comes to our closest relationships, particularly Marriage when you carry unresolved anger towards your husband the same legal open doors First Peter 3 7 tells us that unresolved relational brokenness and marriage can hinder our prayers The enemy is not just after your relationship when he stirs up offense between you and your husband He's after your spiritual authority your capacity to intercede your ability to move freely in the spirit When the enemy cannot break from the outside he will try to unravel from the inside through bitterness between a husband and a wife a Husband and wife who walk in forgiveness and covenant love become a spiritual fortress The enemy cannot penetrate but unresolved anger in that covenant keeps them at a topos a legal place to stand right in the middle Of your home. The question is not whether you will feel anger you will we all do the question is What do you do with it before the Sun goes down? Do you bring it to God? Do you speak truth to your spouse? Do you refuse to let it take root or do you carry it quietly? And and when you carry it quietly you hand the enemy a key to a room in your life He was never supposed to enter and this is something that we have to take heed to we have to not allow the enemy To enter these rooms. He was never supposed to enter whether it's with significant other like I mentioned with your husband Whether it's with your mom with your brother and sister in Christ with your biological sisters and brothers in Christ and this is big with a parent many of us are holding unresolved anger for a parent and it has caused us to Have a fence which caused us to be bitter which affects Relationships that we're supposed to have with people who are supposed to pour into our lives This is why a lot of people have a lot of mother and father wounds and they're not able to Receive from their spiritual mother spiritual fathers or pastors or mentors Because they are not seeing them rightly because they are seeing them from a place of bitterness
And a lot of us don't realize, and this is not to condemn anyone, this is for me to just bring you to awareness, just like the Lord brought me to awareness, allowing me to see where I had unresolved anger. And this unresolved anger caused me to get offended quickly. This person, where every time the situation came up, the offense will come up, and it's because the offense already caused that root of bitterness inside of me. And I want to leave you with this question. Is there unresolved anger in my heart or in my marriage that I have been holding onto? And what access has that given the enemy in my life? Think about it. Even if you're not married, think about when you were in the world and you were in fornication, because sometimes we get into being a believer in Christ and someone in the world hurt us in a fornicating relationship with, even though we weren't supposed to do that, that was a sin, but we're forgiven, hallelujah, but we can still be holding that unresolved anger, which can cause so many, many, many, many problems and trauma in our spiritual walk. And I want you guys to think about that. And I just want to pray for you. Lord, I thank you that every single person that is watching this video, that is taking this course will understand that unresolved anger is not righteous anger. And Lord, we just repent for every day that we have let the sun go down on unresolved anger. Father, we see now that it was not costing us peace, Lord. It was costing us problems, Lord. It was removing authority from us. We close every single door that we have opened through bitterness in our relationships, in our marriage, in our heart. And we take back topos, the territory, the enemy stole from our lives, Lord, and the forgiveness that the enemy stole from our lives. Just like Saul, Lord God should have done. We bring this anger to you right now. Come on, choose to bring this anger to the Lord right now. Father, they choose not to carry it past today. Lord, restore their authority, restore their peace in Jesus name. Amen. And I will catch you in part four of the bitterness course.
