Surrendering Pain to God

Welcome back to the bitterness course today we are in part six of the bitterness course and we're gonna talk about surrendering pain to God and how you never Never meant to carry this pain and it's time for us to release this pain in part one We spoke about what bitterness is and how it's a root part two What causes that root in its offense part three the danger of unresolved anger part four? We spoke about unforgiveness part five. We spoke about how we forgive we talk about forgiveness as a weapon how every time you choose to forgive you are picking up the cross and Dismantling the accuser's case against you and today I want to go one layer deeper because forgiveness is a decision But healing is a process and that process requires something most of us resist It's surrender this there is a difference between forgiving someone and being healed from what they did Forgiveness is a moment a decision you make to release the debt Healing is a journey the process of letting God go all the way down to the root and pulling out everything the enemy planted and Many of us have forgiven people without ever surrendering the pain those people caused we said the words we made the decision No, we never actually handed God the wound. Oh, and so the root remained the decision was made But the healing hadn't begun Jesus says in Matthew 11 28 come to me all you who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest He's not just talking about the weight of work or worry He's talking about the weight of carrying pain that was never yours to carry alone Think about Hannah in 1st Samuel Hannah was in deep anguish year after year She carried the pain of her closed womb. She carried the sting of Peninas provocation She carried grief that had nowhere to go in and 1st Samuel 1 10 says Hannah was in bitterness of soul And she prayed to the Lord and wept in anguish. She did not just feel the pain She brought it somewhere. She went to the temple and poured it out before God. She wept she prayed she made a vow She surrendered what she could not fix and Eli the priest saw her lips moving and thought she was drunk He did not understand what she was doing. Nobody around her understood it, but Hannah was not performing. She was surrendering she was laying down the weight of years of pain at the feet of God and Scripture says that when she rolls from praying her face was no longer sad The answer had not come yet. Her womb was still closed The situation had not changed but something has shifted on the inside because she had transferred the weight That is what surrender does it does not always change what's going on immediately, but it changes you

It removes the burden from your spirit and places it in the hands of the only one who can Actually do something in his name is Jesus the danger of carrying pain ourselves is that we start to become shaped by it It becomes the lens through which we see everything we start looking at people through the filter of our wound Seeing potential betrayals everywhere and guarding ourselves with holding trust Keeping people at a careful distance and what looks like wisdom from the outside Actually is the fruit of a root of bitterness on the inside that's operating underneath The enemy does not have to tell you to stop loving He just wounds you deeply enough that love becomes filtered through pain and judgment becomes the lens through which you see everyone around you Surrendering your pain to God is an act of worship It is saying I trust that you can do more with this wound and I can by holding it inside of me I trust that you see what was done to me and I do not need to hold it as evidence anymore Because you are the judge and that is what I want you guys to just take away from this It's just being like Hannah and releasing that pain and this is the reflective question that I want you to take away today What pain am I still carrying that I forgave in word but never actually surrendered to God and what was holding? This is the reflection question. I want you to take away What pain am I still carrying that I forgave in word but never actually surrendered to God and what has holding it been? Costing me and I want you guys to just reflect deeply on that and just release it just like Hannah I'm gonna pray for you Lord I think you that this person on the other side of the screen is bringing every pain and every wound to you Just like Hannah. I think you that they're done carrying this alone. They have tried to manage it and contain it They have tried to explain it in the ways that they can Lord but it has done nothing Lord God to them and they're gonna be just like Hannah Lord and Get on their face and just surrender it on to you Lord they surrender everything that they don't understand Lord and just like you gave Hannah a new a new Way of receiving what was going on Lord God, just like you shifted things in her You're gonna shift things in them as well Lord as they wait for the answer to their situation in Jesus name Amen and I will catch you in part seven The bitterness course god bless you
