Hear your people as we sing today. I will make room for you. Can we just stretch our hands to heaven right now? Let this be our prayer this morning. I will. I will make room. I need you to move in my life. I need you to move in my home. I need you to move on my workplace, God. I need your will in my life every day, every hour. And so we make room with our surrender today. I will. I will. I will make room for you, Lord, to do whatever you want to. I will make room. I will make room for you to do whatever you want to. Oh, Holy Spirit, have your way. Have your way in your people today, God. Oh, we come together in your name, Jesus, and we believe your promise that if we would do that, that you would be in the midst. God, as we're gathered today, we're gathered knowing that this is not routine, but that

this is strategic. We have strategically come together for you to move as you would in our lives. So, if that's your heart today, I dare you to lift your hands to heaven as a sign of surrender, opening your heart and saying, God, I'm willing to be shaken. I'm willing to be moved. Won't you say, shake up the ground? Shake up the ground of all my tradition, break down the walls of all my relegion. Your way is better. Your way is better. Your way is better. Oh, God. And we know God that as you have your way, we will see miracles, signs, wonders, restorations, salvations. We will see you and you will be glorified in the church who believed and said, Amen, Amen, and Amen. Praise God. I tell you what, it's going to be an amazing time in the church today. You know, sometimes it can be I'm scared to try a new restaurant. So the fact that you guys are trying a new church this morning, we honor that and we know that that's a big step. So you are, of course, welcome to stay here. If you're with your family, you're like, it's truly not for me. Every single Sunday at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., we have a middle school service. We actually have one of our leaders, our middle school leaders over here. And if you if you guys want, he can go ahead and take you to the middle school service in these next few moments. So stay connected through the Faith app or our website. Have a blessed week. Narcoossee is one of the fastest growing areas in Central Florida. In fact, the population in this region is projected to grow by tens of thousands of people over the next few years alone. Which is why after years of believing and praying, we are building the Narcoossee Road Campus at the heart of this community. We've been meeting at Narcoossee Elementary for nearly a year now and already people are encountering Jesus for the very first time. People like Sean. I was raised in a Catholic family by an Italian Catholic mother. My father passed when I was four years old and my mom never remarried. It's always been her and I. She didn't make me go to catechism class and I think at that point I probably lost any faith I may have had. I didn't feel like there was any kind of direction or anything for me and my mom moved us to Florida and that's when I started partying and I was having my fun and fun seemed to be the way to fill maybe any other void in my life. Eventually I met my wife Teresa and she was very religious

and she would put little scripture things in the house that when we first got married that I was like, well, you know, could you keep that in a separate room and not have it out in our main room? And in 2021, my wife and I moved to St. Cloud. About three years ago, a shop opened called The Post and the owners of The Post attend Faith Church Orlando. A couple years or more, they were inviting us to church but when they were talking about church in Orlando, you know, my brain goes, I wouldn't go to Orlando even if I wanted to probably to go to church. There's so much more around here in the St. Cloud area. I still was holding back and obviously didn't want to go to church. I remember one time looking at Jay and I said, I can't get your coffee on Sunday and he said, yes you can and he handed me the faith flyer and said, you can come here and I remember several times for several months going, yeah, one day, one day, one day on a Saturday and I looked at them and I said, I'll see you tomorrow and I walked into the Narcoossee Road campus and my life was forever changed. I remember I remember coming in and everybody greeting you and that warm, inviting feeling. Worship started and I remember sitting there, tears just started rolling down my face. And I knew at that moment, everything that people had said before about the Holy Spirit getting me. And it was amazing, but I didn't expect it. You know, if you asked me several months ago, I would have looked at you and said, you know, the Christian folks, and I don't know if I listen to this or buy into this or when you're saved and these kinds of things.

And I remember feeling it deep in my heart. It just overcame me. And I remember at the moment saying, you know, in my own head, my own way of praying that I knew how to pray was, Lord, I don't know what this is, but I'm ready for the journey. I'm ready for whatever you've got planned for me. And I'm all in. I've never looked back from that day. It was absolutely amazing. I knew that day that Lord Jesus Christ was my savior. And I went out and got my first Bible, then I got my second. I got a couple of different versions so I can start studying and learning. I'm going to Jay's men's group at the post. We did the starting point classes, my wife, Teresa, and I, and we went to the marriage conference, went to a men's night. And a few weeks ago, I decided to be baptized at the Narcoossee Road Campus. My life has forever changed. And had Jay and Cassandra and my wife not all been planting those seeds, I don't know where I'd be now. But I know because Faith Church Orlando is now in St. Cloud, that there's a great future ahead. And I'm so looking forward to the new campus down here.

It's going to change lives in St. Cloud. Stories like Sean's are why we are building this campus, because there are thousands more people in this community who are still searching for something real. This May, our goal is to raise $300,000, the second major milestone in our journey toward the full vision. Every dollar you give in May brings us closer to the day we open the doors that will serve this community for generations to come. Because of your generosity, more people like Sean will have the opportunity to encounter Jesus at our Narcoossee Road Campus. Oh, come on, we can go crazy for that. Amen, amen. We can't get used to hearing stories like Sean, because that is a miracle of God, a miracle of the community. And we love what God is doing at our Narcoossee Road Campus. And we'll keep talking about that in just a second, because it is time to give our Tithe and our Kingdom Builders offering. So let's get excited about that as well. When you're in church, just know you're going to clap a lot. Okay, amen. We're getting excited about a lot of things around here. When you want to give, when you start giving at Faith, we have two easy steps that we follow. All of us, every Christian, we start on step one, which is tithing.

Just really obeying God, what the Bible says to do with our finances, the very first thing, when God gives us anything, we give back that first 10%. And then when we're ready to go above that 10%, we start giving towards Kingdom Builders, like that video that we just saw, that's really a heart of generosity. And I'm really starting to take captive what God has given us and give it to His Kingdom, for real, for real. And so we encourage you guys, wherever you're at in those steps, go ahead and give. This morning, we do have digital ways to give that'll be on the screen. And we'll have a bucket that passes you also, but let's go ahead and pray. And we are believing for really a miraculous amount of money that we're going to give towards this next milestone at our Narcoossee Road Campus. And when we say that it's miraculous, we don't mean that it's probably just gonna come out of thin air. God chooses to do His miracles through His people, amen? And God does miracles through generosity. And we are here because someone gave. We're able to have all of our different campuses because people give. And maybe you're like, oh, this campus,

maybe I'm never gonna attend it. You know what though? We are not separate churches. We are one church in many locations. And so that's what we believe and that's how we live and that's how we're gonna give. So let's go ahead and pray and ask God what our part in this is gonna be. Jesus, we love you, Lord. Thank you for stories like Sean's. Thank you for stories like mine. Thank you for stories like so many in this room, Lord. We know that we were able to walk into a church and encounter Jesus before we ever started giving because someone else had given, Lord. So help us to be a part of that. Speak to us, use us, Lord. And then next week will be a great day to be in the house of God too next Sunday because it's Mother's Day next Sunday. I want to remind you of that. I mentioned that in last service. I had some people saying, I'm glad you mentioned that because I forgot it was one week away. So yes, it's Mother's Day one week from today. We're going to do some special stuff for the moms next week. We got a gift for all the moms. So bring your mom to church. Come to church with your mom next Sunday. It's going to be an awesome day.

And then before next Sunday comes is this coming Thursday, which I think is May 7th. That's actually the National Day of Prayer. And so I want you to maybe spend a little extra time praying on Thursday. And you can pray for our church on that day. You can pray for your family. You can pray for our country. I encourage you to pray for our country, that God would send revival to our country and that God would speak to leaders and show up. And so that's the National Day of Prayer. And we do have our prayer room will be open here at the Curry Ford campus from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. So if that works, you can swing through and spend some time here in prayer. That's 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. here at this campus. And then otherwise, if you're not here, of course, pray wherever you are on the National Day of Prayer. That's especially fitting with what we're getting ready to read here in this passage in Luke 11. If you have a Bible, go to Luke 11 and Matthew 6. Luke 11, Matthew 6. And let's start with the first verse of Luke 11. I just want to read one verse from Luke 11. And this is what the Bible says, Luke 11, verse 1. One day, Jesus was praying in a certain place. And when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, Lord, teach us to pray. Let me read that one verse one more time. One day, Jesus was praying in a certain place. And when he finished, his disciples said to him, Lord, teach us to pray. I'm going to preach today a message just simply titled, I'm taking lessons. I'm taking lessons. Somebody say, I'm taking lessons. All right, let's pray one more time. Ask God just to speak to us.

Lord, thank you for your Word. And I just pray that, Lord, as a result of us looking at your Word and learning from you, Jesus, that it would bring a different level of inspiration. God, it would bring a different level of behavior in our life. And I just thank you, God, for your Word. Lord, let it be just anointed by your Holy Spirit today. And give us ears to hear what you are saying to us as individuals. and to us as the church. We love you, we bless you. In Jesus' name, amen, amen. I'm taking lessons. And of course, there's lessons you can take in all kinds of different pursuits, all kinds of different things. And I would say probably the private lesson industry is just, it continues to grow. And so some of you grew up maybe taking some music lessons or something like that. And some of you didn't even enjoy it. Maybe somebody made you take piano lessons and you haven't touched a piano since in just rebellion of that kind of forced lessons. But some people, you wanna get better at something and so you take some lessons that maybe playing an instrument or maybe somebody wants to be a better singer and so they'll take vocal lessons and they'll get a vocal coach, someone who's a master at some of this and they'll teach them kind of how to hold their mouth

a certain way. Of course, the sports lesson industry is going bonkers. I mean, back in the old days, back in my day, you went to Little League and you just kinda, you had a once a week with your Little League practice and that was how you got better, whatever. Man, now it's specialized. And now these like seven-year-olds, they're like, well, I got my strength and conditioning coach that I meet with him seven days a week. And then I have my hitting coach that I meet with him three days a week. And then my fielding coach, I get lessons from him on this. Like it's gotten wild, the amount of lessons that are out there. And some of you golfers out there, maybe you've gotten some golf lessons. And I play golf, I love golf. I've never got a golf lesson. And I'm gonna be honest with you, I want to at some point, but there's a part of me, there's a part of me that I wonder in my psychology if the reason why I haven't got a golf lesson is because while I'm playing golf, I can be like, never had one lesson. Because I feel like I've played with some guys, you know what I'm saying? That like they've been taking lessons for seven years and yet they're like, yeah,

I've been taking lessons for seven years and I want to be like, oh, you might want to find a different coach or like, I don't know if it's working, like something's not, and so sometimes when we maybe don't take lessons, maybe part of my psychology is the expectations on my golf game will be a little lower because after all, I've never had a lesson. And so that psychology might be there. Can I just tell you this, church, that the one area of your life, there is one area of your life that you cannot afford to have a low expectation on yourself in. There's one area of your life that you just can't afford to go, well, I just don't know how. No one's ever taught me how. No one's ever, I've never learned how to do this and so therefore, I'm just not good at it. I'm gonna talk about the most dangerous pursuit, the most dangerous skillset to have that kind of mentality that just says, well, I just, I've never been taught and I'm not good at that. And that would be this idea of prayer. Like if there's one pursuit in your life, if there's one thing to master, one thing to get great at, can I tell you that prayer would be that thing, that like the goal would be to get so good at prayer that somebody watches you pray and they go,

man, are you taking lessons from some master because I've never seen prayer, I've never seen results from a prayer life, I've never seen somebody so comfortable in the presence of God. Like if there's one area, if there's one thing that you're going to be great at, it's got to be prayer because prayer will affect every other area of your life. And maybe the greatest argument for the priority of prayer in your life would be the fact that Jesus was a man of prayer, okay? Jesus, he's 100% God, 100% man, and yet Jesus is a man of prayer. He prayed at so many crisis points in his life. He prayed at his baptism. He prayed over choosing disciples. The disciples often caught him praying at different things. He prayed in the garden before his betrayal. He prayed from the cross. Jesus was a man of prayer, and that alone should inspire us to go, I want to be, we talk about wanting to be like Jesus. Can I tell you this? Jesus knew how to pray, and so God's calling you to know how to pray. And I love this moment in Luke 11 when the disciples are seeing Jesus pray, okay? And Jesus begins to teach, not in a church, and he's not teaching in a synagogue,

and he begins to teach, you know, not in a meeting hall or anything like that. No, they catch Jesus in the very act of praying, and he's doing it with such ease. He's doing it without performance. He's doing it without pressure, and he's doing it in a way that essentially they go, whatever that is, I want that. He's doing it in such a way that they say, can you teach us to do it? Like, we've heard about prayer, and we haven't seen it. Can you teach us to do it that way? Can you teach us to do it like that? And there's a Greek word that is. Idaxon, and that's the word that gets translated teach there when they say will you teach us to pray. And the kind of the root of that word and the full meaning of that word would be like what they're basically saying is can you train us to be people who pray? Can you train us to be people who pray? And so we're gonna take what Jesus gave as his private lessons on prayer, we're gonna take those and apply those into our life today and we're gonna get good at this thing because you only can get good at something when you practice it. Somebody say amen. So let's get good at this thing.

And prayer, I mean the importance of prayer has been talked about by so many different leaders and authors through the years. Charles Spurgeon said this about prayer. He said I would rather teach one man to pray than teach 10 men to preach. Andrew Murray said the man who can pray is the man who can do all things. In the school of prayer the Lord Jesus is our teacher. Let us sit at his feet and say Lord teach us to pray. I love what Oswald Chambers said. He said prayer does not fit us for the greater work. A lot of times you link prayer to like doing something for God and you go well I gotta pray extra today because I'm gonna be used of God in ministry. I gotta do extra today because I'm going to the outreach. I gotta pray extra today because I'm gonna talk to my coworker about Jesus. I like that Oswald Chambers said prayer does not fit us for the greater work, prayer is the greater work. Like that's something that we have to develop and get good at. So what we'll do is we're gonna layer Matthew six's telling of what Jesus is answering, his teaching on prayer with Luke chapter 11. And when you read the synoptic gospels it's good to do that. You kind of layer that and so it's the same instance and so let's look at what Jesus's answer was to the disciples when they said well you teach us to do that. So here it is in Matthew chapter six verse nine through 13.

This is part of that answer. He said this is then how you should pray. Let me just point out real quick, he didn't say this is what you should pray. He said this is how you should pray. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one. Again Jesus didn't say this is what you should pray. Some people have memorized this, what we call the Lord's Prayer. They've memorized it and recite that over and over again and say well that's my prayer life. That's not what Jesus was trying to solicit out of you with this. He said this is how you should pray. It is a model. It's a step by step. It's a strategy with which we could learn to pray. And so it's not necessarily to pray these identical words but take this framework, learn how to be a person who knows how to pray. So let's do that. So if we're taking lessons from Jesus, I think the first thing that he kind of covers is this, that we should practice God's presence

with a worshipful heart. If you're taking some notes, jot that down. That in our prayer we should practice God's presence with a worshipful heart. How does he say it there at the beginning of this model prayer? He says our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Now I love that Jesus when he's teaching on how we launch into this prayer, he could have used so many different titles for God that like you begin by saying creator, here it is, because he's the one that created everything. He could have said you begin this prayer by saying oh judge of all who are living and dead, you're gonna be the judge. So you approach him and you call him judge. He could have said you approach him and say ruler of all the universe. And so you call him ruler because he's the ruler. Jesus could have chosen a lot of different titles for God that we would launch into this prayer and yet Jesus was very specific about the title he chose and he said our Father. He said our Father who art in heaven. Why did Jesus use that title of God specifically? Well, from time to time people will come up to me and they'll wanna talk for a second and they'll say hey, can I get a couple minutes of your time? And often time people will say you know,

I know you're busy and please forgive me. I just need a couple minutes of your time. I know you're busy and so usually when somebody comes with that, I know you're busy, can I just get a couple minutes of your time, usually I say no you cannot because I am so busy. So please move away now. Like you have to do it, you know. Now I would never do that and I never have. No, I'm usually like no, I'm not that busy. Like let's talk, let's connect, let's do this. So I'm not that busy, like let's talk. But you know who's never ever come and approached me with that kind of statement? Hey, I know you're busy, but if you could just spare me a couple, you know who's never said that? My kids. My kids have never started a conversation. with me, dad, I know you're busy. If you'll just forgive me, I just need a couple minutes of your time. Why haven't my kids started the conversation? Because in their mind, my role as their father carries with it this perceived, this automatic availability to them. Like that because you're my dad, I don't have to go through all these hoops and jump through all that. I don't have to be worried about it and sorry about wanting time with you

because you have to do that because you're my father. Like that's how they're seeing that and I'm glad they see it that way. And that's the way Jesus wants you to see your connection with your heavenly father. This is not something where you have to earn a certain kind of behavior pattern before you'll ever get to talk to God. It's not something that you have to do a certain, jump through all these hoops and come with all these titles. No, Jesus is saying, listen, your father is available to you because you are his son and his daughter. That is good news when it comes to prayer. Amen, give God praise for that, that's good. You have access with a perfectly heavenly father. And when we go into that moment with our father, we understand that our father has different perspective than we do and he sees things from a different angle than we do. And so when we're going into prayer, we're understanding that God, like I'm the child in this and you're the father in this. And then Jesus says, once you establish this relationship and this fellowship with not a faraway creator, but with your father, and once you establish that, he says, hallowed be thy name. It's this moment of worship. We're approaching God's presence with a worshipful heart.

Hallowed be thy name. Why do we then point our prayers to the greatness of God? Why do we point our prayers to the majesty of God? Why do we point our prayers to the powerfulness of God? Because we spend so much of our time looking at our problems, and sometimes our problems seem so gigantic that we need some moments where we take our eyes off of our problems and we put our eyes on a powerful God. And you'll find that when you put your eyes on a powerful God and you go back to your problems, they don't look as big as they used to. Why, because God is a powerful God. Hallowed be your name. You are a great God and you are worthy of my worship. Oh, there's something powerful about beginning a moment with God, knowing he's your father, and worshiping, it just changes your perspective. Begin by practicing God's presence with a worshipful heart. If Jesus was giving a private lesson to us on prayer, I think he would also cover the fact that we need to place God's priorities above our own priorities. We're placing his priority over ours. How did Jesus say it in verse 10? Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Your kingdom come.

Can I tell you this? Jesus' kingdom comes wherever Jesus is crowned king. That's how a kingdom works, and so that starts in your heart. Jesus' kingdom comes when he is crowned king. There are not two kings of a kingdom. No, I am surrendering my kingship of my kingdom, and I'm saying, God, I want your kingdom to come in my heart, in my life, and when it starts there, that's where the kingdom begins to grow from our life. It starts within our heart. Now, I like what A.W. Tozer said when he was talking about this, praying that thy kingdom come, and we say sentences like that, but A.W. Tozer said, before we can pray thy kingdom come, we must be willing to pray my kingdom go. When's the last time you prayed that one? When's the last time you started praying, okay, first of all, God, whatever I wanted, whatever my plans were, trash, they're gone. Whatever I thought, my, no, my kingdom go, your kingdom come. It's laying down my preferences, it's laying down my timing, and that word is for somebody because you think God's late all the time. You are mad at God because his timing does not line up with your timeline. No, it's to say, God, I'm trusting your preference,

your timing, I'm trusting your agenda over my own. I'm saying, God, you know better than me. What an important part of prayer. So today, pause and ask yourself, have I been praying for God's kingdom to come, or have I been praying for my kingdom to manifest more smoothly? Now, we start this prayer off, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done. His will, God's will. Now, listen to me, some of y'all need to stop acting like God's will is difficult to find. Some of us, we've been spending our whole lives saying, I just, I don't know what God's will for my life is. is I don't know what God's will is. It's kind of like, I don't know if any of you ever bought a piece of furniture from Ikea and it comes in the box and then you have to try to assemble it when you get home and so you lay out all the parts and there's like one tool and a bunch of nuts and bolts and pieces of wood and whatever and some of you have done this before. You get ready to put the thing together and you only got a certain amount of time. So you're like, I don't have time to be looking through these directions and reading directions and stuff. I just need to start building and get this thing done. And so you just jump over there and you just start building. You got, this looks like a piece of a futon. I'll just put it here and you start screwing stuff together.

This screw fits in here, I'll do this. And so you just start putting it together. You get done, it sort of looks like a couch. You get done, you got a piece of wood laying over, left over, you got four bolts left over. What do we say sometimes when that gets done? It's close enough. I mean, it doesn't move exactly the way a futon, but it's close and I got some stuff left over and we say stuff like this. We go, man, the manufacturer sent extra parts. They're so dumb. Why'd they send these extra screws? This is so ridiculous and what a waste. Blaming them for our lack of paying the price. What we could do in that moment, instead of just trying to wing it and trying to hurry, we can open up those instructions and kind of see how to do that. Can I tell you that God's will, sometimes we act like God's will is so difficult to find. God's will may not be as difficult as we want to admit that it is. It might be easier than we want to admit it. It just costs us more than we want to pay. It costs us some time, some minutes in prayer. It costs us some hours in prayer. I've heard people say, you know, well, the grass isn't greener on the other side of the fence. Can I tell you, sometimes the grass is greener

on the other side of the fence. Do you know what else is on the other side of the fence? A higher water bill. That's why that grass is greener because somebody is paying the price to have some growth that you're not paying the price to have. That's what the beauty of prayer and learning how to get into God's will be done. When I start to spend enough time in the presence of God to know God and to get a sense for God, when I start to pray enough that prayer is not as much about God hearing my voice, but I can get into a level of prayer where I can hear his voice, man, all of a sudden God's will can be found. It's there, we're just not willing to pay the price. Can I tell you, when you start to understand God's will and walk in God's will, you know what? You're not on the hook for your success anymore. No, because you're in the will of God. You're not on the hook anymore for your effectiveness. You're not on the hook anymore for your kingdom impact. No, because you're just walking in the will of God. And when we walk in, your will be done, not my will be done. In other words, it doesn't matter how ambitious I am. It's not ambition, it's submission. That's what Jesus is teaching here. Not my will, your will be done. Placing God's priorities over your own.

And I think if Jesus was giving us a private lesson on prayer, which some of us desperately need, oh, if there's one area of your life to be great at, it would be this. You're only gonna get better if you practice. So I think Jesus would also include this thought, that we would pursue God's provision for our daily needs. Pursue God's provision, let me say it this way, pursue God's provision daily for our needs. We could say it that way. Because look at what he says in verse 11 of Matthew 6. In part of this model prayer, one of the things that we should be praying, he says, give us today our daily bread. This kind of prayer, where we're asking God for our needs to be met, and Jesus uses prayer, I mean, Jesus uses bread. I think he's meaning more than just your food. He's talking about your needs. He uses bread for a specific reason, which we will get into in a moment, but this petition of daily coming to God and saying, God, you are my provider. Oh, you know what that does? It makes anxiety and fear very, very difficult to hold on to. No, because I'm just daily leaning on God as my provider. It's an anxiety killer in my life when I'll do this. It reminds me that, no, I'm with him. God's the one that meets my needs.

He's the one that provides for me. And this mention of bread by Jesus is obviously, it's a reference to Exodus chapter 16, where God is sending manna, bread, from heaven every day. And when that bread would come every morning, the instructions were very, very clear. This is today's bread. Give us today our daily bread. Now, sometimes, maybe one of the Israelites. would be a little nervous, and I don't know if God's gonna show up tomorrow. I mean, yes, he showed up today, but I'm not sure if he's gonna show up tomorrow. And so sometimes they would try to stockpile and go, I'm gonna keep enough bread for the next couple of days just in case. Well, by the next morning, that bread that they were keeping for the just in case, it was rotted, it had maggots, because Jesus had set up a system. This is going to be a daily trust that I'm gonna take care of you every single day. This isn't a, well, you do this once, and then it lasts for a month. You do this once, and it lasts for a year. I mean, some of us, you may buy certain groceries that way. You might love a good Costco. Jamie and I ran to Sam's Club yesterday. You might buy your toilet paper, or you might buy the year's supply.

You just get the largest one they have, and I buy it once a year. Or I saw Charmin has this new thing, this jumbo roll of toilet paper that you can buy. It's just massive, and it comes with its own, you have to get a whole separate toilet paper holder. Listen, you can go ahead, buy your toilet paper for the year. I don't care, but I wanna challenge you. See what happens when you try to buy your bread for a year. See what happens to that bread after a few weeks. See what happens to that bread after a couple of months. Man, it's not gonna work when you, and so Jesus uses this idea of daily bread. What's he saying? He's saying daily relationship, daily dependence on me. Some of you pray. Some of you pray like you buy bulk, and you pray once, and okay, I should be covered for the month now. I prayed once, so I should be covered for the week now. I prayed once, so at least halfway through the year, I should be fine halfway through the year. Some of you, man, you got all up into January, prayer and fasting. You're like, there, I prayed and fasted in January, and that should hold me till next January. That is not Jesus's idea. The master would teach you otherwise, and he would say, no daily return to me for your needs.

For your needs to be met. Not just, not food, but other needs. Your spiritual needs to be met. Your emotional needs to be met. When we're asking God daily for this provision, it puts us in this healthy place, because watch this, provision without dependence leads to pride. Can I say that one more time? So provision without dependence on God, what does that do? Look at what I'm achieving. Look at what I'm accomplishing. Look at what I'm making. Look at what I've produced. That's provision without dependence, and then need without trust leads to worry. So if I have need, but I don't trust God, now I'm anxiety, now I'm worried. So what this does, it puts us in this sweet spot of confidence in our creator. I'm humble, confident in God. I'm not making demands to God. I'm just trusting God that he is my provider. How beautiful, what a way to live life that is. I think if Jesus was giving us a private lesson on prayer, he would also include the thought of teaching us how to plead for God's pardon of our sins. Plead God's pardon for our sins. How does he say it in verse 12?

Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Some versions say forgive us our sin as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And we're praying a forgiveness of sin, maybe often, daily, not because the cross isn't powerful to forgive us our sin. And I've been around people who make the mistake of like they come to an altar and they say, I just need God's forgiveness, because I messed up and I ruined my family, and last year I made so many mistakes, and I just need God to forgive me. We pray and God forgives, and then maybe the next Sunday they're back at the altar. Oh, I just need forgiveness, because I messed up and messed up my family. I need his forgiveness. Month later, they're at the altar. I need God's forgiveness, because a year ago I messed up my family. I messed up and I ruined my family. I need his forgiveness. You know what, that's kind of weakening the power of the cross. No, God forgave you for that. You walk in that forgiveness. That's probably what Jesus is really trying to get at here, Lord, forgive us, is this, we're walking in a forgiveness. We're walking in that grace. This prayer is a reminder of what sin does, for sure.

This prayer would also help us against maybe even unwillful sins that we committed that we didn't even realize. And listen, God doesn't love you less because you sin. However, sin will separate you from God. So this regular prayer of forgiveness will just keep my intimacy with God right where it needs to be. But Jesus includes something. He includes like a behavior of us in this model prayer. Now, I want you to understand, church, hear me. Jesus could have included a lot of different add-ons to this model prayer, a lot of different behaviors that you need to be careful. to do and not do. He could have included a lot of different holiness choices in your life and thought patterns and behavioral patterns. He could have included a lot of things, which the Bible does cover a lot of different things like that, but the one that Jesus includes, and I think we have to pay attention to this, he says, and God forgive me as I am forgiving others. So here's this link between the fact that I've experienced the power of forgiveness on my life, and so therefore, now I'm called to give forgiveness to somebody else. Let's do this, I feel like it's a good time in the service to do this. Everybody at every location, take a deep breath in. Deep breath out.

Let's do it one more time. Hopefully you brushed this morning. One more time across everywhere. Deep breath in. Big breath out. Whew. Same action going both directions. I have received God's forgiveness, therefore I give God's forgiveness. One more time, big breath in. Hold it for the rest of my message, please. Hold it, hold, no, come on, what are you doing? I just said hold it, everybody. Because you go, pastor, that's not logical for me to take that breath in and hold that breath in during the whole message. Exactly, it's not logical for you to take in the forgiveness of God and not breathe that out towards somebody else in your life because you have been forgiven. You can forgive others, and Jesus links this to the effectiveness of our prayers. Dare I say that some of us feel like our prayers are just hidden nowhere, and one of the areas you might want to look at is the forgiveness that's flowing out of your life. He includes it in this model prayer. Forgive us as we forgive others. And then last, I think Jesus, if he was giving us a private lesson on prayer, he would maybe encourage us

to partner with God's power to overcome temptation. So verse 13 just says, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. You know what this is? Deliver us from the evil one. This is a reminder that you are in a war. Boy, some of you have forgotten because you don't hear the explosions. You don't see the rounds on the ground, and you don't see the destruction. You are living life in a spiritual war. And the thought of trying to do this life in this kind of spiritual warfare without praying, without being a person who's good at praying, without being great at prayer, it's dangerous. That's what Jesus is saying here. There is an evil one who's, and temptation is everywhere. And one of the beautiful things about a rich prayer life is I begin to experience levels of God's presence that now when I look back at those temptations, those things that once held me, those things that once could pull me right off path, now because I've experienced God in a way, those things just don't, they don't pull to me anymore. Lead us not into temptation. Lead me into your, God, what you have to offer is so much better than this temptation. We live in a spiritual war in which you better know, you better be great at praying. We were in a meeting a couple weeks ago,

and someone mentioned that maybe a couple Wednesdays before that that someone had called, a couple of people had called the church and called the church office asking, is tonight a night of prayer? And so they said that in the meeting, yeah, a couple weeks ago on Wednesday, somebody called and asked if it was a night of prayer. We've been doing Wednesday, really most of the year now, it's just been nights of prayer on Wednesday nights. So they, is this a night of prayer? And when someone brought that up at the meeting, I got excited. I was like, oh, see, people, man, they want prayer. They wanna come out for prayer. And I'm getting all excited, and then the person kind of lifted their hand at me, and they said, well, actually, no. They were calling to find out if it was a night of prayer because they weren't gonna come if it was a night of prayer. I was like, okay, great. That's awesome. Thank you for that. All right, good. I'm gonna go easy on him. Here, listen to this. I can understand. Hear me. I can understand if I was somebody, and I've been somebody,

I've been somebody who didn't know how to pray. I've been somebody who didn't know how to do this, and then I get into a prayer meeting and not enjoy it. I don't speak this language. I don't do this. I don't know what's going on here. So I get it. So if you're in that position, right, where you're like, I don't know, talk about all this prayer. I just don't enjoy it. I don't know how to do it. I don't know what to do. Here's the options. Yeah, you can stay away from prayer meetings, which, by the way, we're gonna be a church that prays. Okay, I'll just tell you now, we are gonna be a culture that prays. This is gonna be a house of prayer. We're gonna call upon God for every. we ever get. It's going to come as a result of us calling on God. So we are going to be a culture that prays. You have a choice. You can either not show up in those moments or you can come on, learn how to pray, start to enjoy it so much that you don't miss a prayer meeting because it's become the most fruitful thing in your life and it affects every other part of your life. That's what I'm praying happens for all of us. And I want to pray for you now that this would happen. And then we're going to pray. We're going to practice this because you only get good at what you practice. So we're going to practice this together. Let me pray for you. Father, thank you for your word. And as we get ready to step into a moment of praying this model, going through this strategy of prayer, this framework, Lord, may it be rich for each and every one of us. And Lord, I'm speaking it now. There are some that have never felt like they walked away from

a prayer moment feeling like it was productive. And that changes today in Jesus name. Okay, church, let's do this together. Once you stand to your feet, everybody, let's, we just pray this together. It began the Lord's prayer with this approaching God with the worshipful heart. Our father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. So come on right now. Would you maybe lift up a hand to heaven? Let's begin this prayer time this way. We're going to practice this together. Just worship him right now. Worship him. It's not because you're worthy. It's because he's worthy. You don't earn this access to the father. No, it's because he's your father that you have access. Come on, sing that. Say, who else is worthy? There's none like you. Hallowed be your name. Hallowed be your name. Oh, come on, lift up a hand to heaven. Let's, let's do this together. Let's learn how to do this. Let's learn how to worship. Let's learn how to start our prayer time focusing on the greatness of God. There's none like you, Jesus. Thank you, God. Thank you, God. Thank you, God. There is no one only you, Jesus. Come on, take 30 more seconds in your own words and just hallowed be thy name. You're great, God. You're worthy, God. You are, you are God to be worshiped and I do. I just, I stand in awe of your love and your goodness and your mercy. I stand in awe of your power. You are wonderful. You are my creator. You are my God. I thank you, my father. I thank you. Okay, then we place God's priorities over our own. So why don't you begin to pray that? Begin to pray those prayers. Come on, whisper them maybe out loud or say them out loud, but God, your will be done in my life. And so, God, I lay down my will. I lay down my priorities. Say, say those things. Come on, say it out loud. God, I lay down what I want in, in my life. It's, it's not about what I want. It's about what you want. God, I lay down my understanding of situations and I say, God, your understanding of these same situations are better. And so, I trust you, God, with my, my life. Your will be done in my life. Your, come on, pray this. Say, God, your will be done in my home. God, your will be done in my, in my, in my work. Your will be done in my family. Your will be done in my heart. God, your will, not mine. Let me un, let me know your will. Oh, God, unlock your will, God, for, for people who feel like it's been locked away, God. No, teach us just to, to pay the price to have a key that understands your will. And then we pursue God's provision for our, our daily lives. So, let's, let's do that today. Say, just, Lord, thank you for your provision. Thank you for providing. Some of you in a moment of

need right now, and you just need to pray, God, thank you for providing. Maybe it's emotional need. Maybe it's a spiritual need. God, thank you for breakthrough and providing this moment of spiritual need for my life. Come on, don't listen to me, pray church. Come on, this is this private lesson. It involves you doing this too. Lord, thank you for meeting my, my needs, Lord. Maybe it's, maybe it is a financial need, and we just pray, God, for financial needs to be met right now, God, in your, in your presence, God. We, the needs of this church, God. Lord, every need of this church, we just pray it would be met by you. It's, it's you, God. And so we, we thank you for that. And then we pray God's pardon for our sins. Oh, some of us need to do that right now. Come on, talk to your heavenly father and say, God, I need your forgiveness today. I need your cleansing today. Lord, I have sinned against you. I've sinned against people. My heart is not right. My heart is soaked in sin. And I just pray, God, you would instead give me a new heart today. Lord renew my mind controlled so many times by the acts of my sinful nature and the desires of my flesh. God, I just pray renewal of my mind right now. Come on, pray that, pray that, that you'd be clean. You can walk out of this building a new creation. And we pray with God's power, we partner with God's power to overcome temptation. And so why don't you just right now come against every attack on your life. Lord, we just pray, Lord, temptation would be powerless against us. Lord, I just thank you that you are greater, you are more. And God, you're not suffering us to be tempted in a way that we can't stand. And so God, we just stand on you and we stand in your presence. I come against every attack of the enemy upon our lives, every attack upon the enemy upon our homes, every attack of the enemy upon our families and upon our kids.

Lord, the enemy has to take his hands off of our kids right now in Jesus' name. The enemy has to take his hands off of our church right now. Lord, in Jesus' name, Lord, you're the powerful one. And we just defeat the works of the enemy right now through prayer in Jesus' name, in Jesus' name. With nobody looking around, just real quick, church, how many here today would say, Pastor, when we prayed that fourth one on just forgiving, Lord, forgive us of my sin, I needed to pray that today, Pastor. Like, I came in here and I wasn't right with God, and when I prayed that today, I got right with God, and I asked him to forgive me of my sin. If that's you, nobody's looking at me, let me see your hand if that's you. I prayed that today, I needed to pray that today, yeah, and I got right with God. Awesome, awesome, hands up all over the place. We can give God praise for that, just that people made a decision to serve Christ. And listen, I just wanna end with this, Pastor Carmine is gonna come and close out in prayer, but Peter Gregg, he's an author, and he said this, he said, the greatest tragedy in life is not unanswered prayer. Can I just tell you? The greatest tragedy is not unanswered prayer, I believe that. The greatest tragedy in life is unoffered prayer.

What a dangerous thing to not be good at. It's the most worthwhile pursuit of any human soul, and that's to learn how to keep the lines of communication open between you and the Creator. And so do that this week, practice that. Take a picture of these five things and use this as a framework to do some prayer, and don't miss a day this week praying through this model prayer, because listen, we're gonna be a church that knows how to pray. Somebody say amen, amen. Let's pray together, God bless you. Let's pray one more time together. Jesus, we love you, Lord. Thank you for the gift of prayer. Thank you that we do not have to do any single day by ourself, God, but that daily you can be with us, daily you can walk with us, Lord. Walk with us as we discover prayer and press into prayer more deeply this week. In Jesus' name, amen and amen. What an amazing, amazing day to be in church, am I right? We love you guys so much.
