“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.” Proverbs 18:21 NKJV

“I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;” Deuteronomy 30:19 NKJV

He sent His spoken word through the prophets. The living Word was made flesh.

“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.”  John 6:63 NKJV

The Word becomes a living thing only as we act upon It. How do we act on the Word of God? By speaking. Heaven is voice activated.

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”  John 15:7 NKJV

Look at Genesis 1! God said.

““I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.” John 17:20-23 NKJV

God and His Word are One. Behind the Word is the integrity of God. You and your word are one.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1 NKJV

““Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words, you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.””  Matthew 12:33-37 NKJV

“So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”  Mark 11:22-24 NKJV

“The integrity of the upright shall guide them: But the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.”  Proverbs 11:3 KJV

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” Joshua 1:8 NKJV

God told Joshua to put the Word of God in his mouth.

“And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him—the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak.””  John 12:47-50 NKJV

“Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart,” Proverbs 3:3 NKJV

“My heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the King; My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.”  Psalms 45:1 NKJV

““Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God:” Deuteronomy 28:1-2 NKJV

Hearken means “to hear intelligently and declare”.

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”  Romans 10:17 NKJV

“But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach):” Romans 10:8 NKJV

“If anyone among you thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.”  James 1:26 NKJV

“And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak,”. II Corinthians 4:13 NKJV
