Old Man/New Man Podcast - Olga Castillo & Stephen Canup
Olga Castillo tried to stay invisible as a child. This was the only way she could steer clear of a lot of drama in her family, and tragically, sometimes that didn't even work. She married young, still somewhat naive, and soon found herself learning about real life hard and fast. Being sent to prison with two infants at home broke her. She turned to God. Stephen Canup learns the rest of the story. Olga is a volunteer with Freedom in Jesus Prison Ministries.
It's time to put off the old man, which is corrupt, and to put on the new man, which is created in righteousness and true holiness. It's the Old Man, New Man podcast with host Stephen Kennep. Hi, thanks for tuning in to the Old Man, New Man podcast with Freedom in Jesus Prison Ministries. That's the old man right there, and I'm glad that I'm a new man in Christ. I'm with my sister in Christ, Olga Castilla, and she's going to share part of her story and part of her testimony. We love to do this to give other people hope and encouragement that are still locked up. You and I have both been locked up, and we're going to hear part of that. I got saved in 2009 in prison, and I was late in life. You were a lot younger when you got saved than I was. So I wanted to give Olga a chance to kind of tell us a little bit about your background, your growing up. What was it like growing up at home, and did you have brothers and sisters? Well, I know you have at least one brother, because he's kind of famous. Tell us about your growing up period. Well, you can grow up in the same family, but you all have different experiences. I do have a famous brother, which is Joe, who's known as the Any Day Now guy. Any Day Now guy, yeah. Yes. He has quite a testimony. Yes, he does. Yes, he does. We grew up, and we have a praying mom, but we had an alcoholic father. And so with that, it becomes a lot of dysfunctional. And then I have three brothers. Joe is the smallest of the boys, and then two sisters. So it was three boys and three girls. Wow. That's a good-sized family.
Yes. Yes. You grew up in the Lubbock, Texas area, Lubbock, Texas? Yes. Yes. Okay. All right. Now, you, I guess, at some point, like you were in high school, how did you end up – so I know you went to prison, so there must be a story behind how you went to prison. And something kind of got adjusted in your life, or tell us a little bit about – so did you get into an addiction, or what happened? Because no one ever really wants to go to prison. Yeah, no. It wasn't something that I would hope for. But I think it's something that a lot of women do, is that we look for a man to rescue us. And so it was a man, and it was just a man that was, you know, doing drugs, selling drugs, and I look for that. Because I had a very sheltered life, you know, I didn't – I was very quiet. Were you? Mm-hmm. And I actually didn't realize it until very later in life, when God starts healing the inside. Oh. Of what caused – The hurts and wounds and offenses inside us. What causes our choices. Okay. You know, we make choices, and sometimes they're based on the hurts. Yes.
And the lies. That's right. From the enemy. Come on. You know, and that's what happened to me, is that I was very quiet, and no trouble at all at home. If I could be invisible, that was my best place. Wow, yeah. You know, so I was very – I didn't want to be noticed. And that's how I lived until I graduated, and I met my late husband, which is – was a drug dealer, that he noticed me. And then he – and then I fell in love, and I was already – had graduated, I believe I was maybe 20. Okay. So he took a naive girl, you know, and then that's where I started – he kind of like drew me out, but I didn't know why I was quiet, and I loved to be invisible. Until, you know, God starts healing that. Well, praise the Lord, praise the Lord, amen, amen. So you were married how long? That was your first husband. You said he passed away. He was your late husband. Yes, that was – that was my first husband. I was my first husband. He was a drug dealer. We had parties all the time we had. He's the one that introduced me to doing drugs. And then where I thought I was madly in love and and actually I think, you know, when somebody really loves you, they, they wouldn't want you to, to do coke, you know, with them or anything. But, but that's the life we lived. We were crime partners, we started, you know, doing it all together. And we were always being arrested, you know, and then getting out, arrested, because in and out, in and out of jail. Until finally, we, you know, we ended up in prison, both of us and I actually
we had charges where, so you had charges together, together and separate and separate. Yeah. And he usually would get the, like the drug charges. And I would get like hindering and apprehension or, or, you know, hiding a felon or, or something to that effect. And even I got, which was one of the biggest ones was aggravated assault on a police officer. Because when they came and did a drug bust, you know, I was in the way. Yeah. You know, yeah. So, I think you told me, I think I remember from your testimony that you both ended up with prison sentences, but you had, didn't you have children at the time? And they, did you go do your time first? Tell them about that. What happened there? Okay. What happened is we, we were living this life of drugs and addiction, selling, having a lot of money. You know, we gave out hundred dollar bills is like a dollar bill. It didn't, you know, you're, you're just, you don't care. You're just doing everything stuck in that cycle. You're stuck in that cycle. And, and so then, in between that time, I had had two miscarriages and possibly because of, you know, drugs and all of this. And then finally, thank God that we do have, I do have a praying mom and my husband had had a, a heart attack as well. And we, because she's a praying mom, I grew up like going to church too. So it was like that seed was in there. It was planned. Yes. And finally it was taking root. And when all the stuff, the consequences to all of my actions were coming up, then it's the root started to grow, you know, so that's the hope that starts to grow. And I remember that he, he had a heart attack. And I was, we had a baby already. And I had already started going to church because I had said, like, now I have a baby. You want to change your life? Yes. And I remember telling my mom, because it happened that he had a heart attack. And then our lawyer called me and said, we can't postpone the court anymore. You're going to have to go to trial. And I told my mom, why is all of this happening? Now that I decided to serve the Lord, now that I've, you know, asked Jesus into my heart, why is all this happening? And she said, God is not bringing this on to you. But he is there with you. Amen. And pray God's word. So we still have to pay the consequences of bad choices. Even when we give our heart to Jesus, I tell people, sometimes your new man still has to pay for old man mistakes. Yes, yes. That is so true, y'all. Yes, yes. But there is a promise in that, that, that even in that God will never leave us nor forsake us. And my mother told me, pray back God's word to him. Okay, okay. And because my husband, yes, because my late husband was in an ICU with tubes in his throat. And we had, I was pregnant, and I already had a little girl. And I was going, are my baby's gonna be without a father?
And then, so I remember the first Psalms that she would tell me to read, which was Psalms 91. And it said, with long life, I will satisfy you and show you my salvation. And it's all I knew. Stand on the promises. Yes. And so I prayed and said, Lord, I am not satisfied that my husband would die and leave my babies without a dad. Amen. And a miracle happened. My, you know, the doctor said with the severe heart attack that he had, that he had no heart damage. Zero. Prayer. Yes. Yes. So, so he made it out of the hospital. I still had to go to court. Yes. And where I was found guilty. And now we have two babies, you know, and so I ended up going to prison. Excuse me. And then. And how old were they at the time? Just two, like two and an infant or? 12 months and then two months old. Wow. Because I had just had the baby. Back to back. And yes. And I did almost five years.
And it was very hard. Yes. Very hard. To leave those two young babies. Yes. Yes. Praise the Lord. The Lord heard your prayer and your husband was able to keep them. Yes. You didn't lose them to the state or anything. That's right. Yeah. Even in that God was there because we did have, because he still had to go to court as well, but they kept postponing it until, you know, I was out. Praise God. And so what happened when you got locked up? What was that life like? Or did you really, when did you have a genuine encounter with Jesus to where you began to be a relationship and not a religion? Or did that happen before you? I think that happened right before I went into prison. Good. Right before I went into prison. But in prison, I saw his promises come to life. Did you? Yes. Tell us about that a little bit. Well, as everyone that has children can understand that there is a pain when you can't see your babies and you leave your family members. I think that's the greatest pain is that your loved ones, you're not with them.
That's right. You can't hug them. You can't touch them. Yes. But even in that God was making me, because I was praying, Lord, make me the mother that you created me to be. Make me the wife that you created me to be. Help me. I want to do it different. Thank you. Because if I would be out there, I know that... You wouldn't be a good mom if you still had that old life. No, if I still had that old life, I wouldn't have been a good mom. That's right. So I know that God was taking me and showing me and teaching me to rely on his promises, to learn how to pray for my daughters. My daughters now are older and they have children and they're taking their babies to church. They're praying with them. When God starts to change us and start to change you, then it changes your family eventually. Yes, yes, yes. So I know the hurt and the pain that you feel when you're in there. That you miss your babies. And the greatest thing that we can do is pray. Amen. Pray for our family because the bob wires, the razor wires, they can't stop God's prayers. Amen. We pray, pray that God will send ministers to them where they are at. Yes. Yeah. You know, where they are at.
Someone that they will listen to because it was like my mom would tell me, but I wouldn't listen to her. Yeah. But then she prayed and I listened to someone, you know, I listened to someone, maybe not to her, but I listened to someone because that was her prayer. Yeah. Pray, I pray that you send someone. Yeah. That she will listen to. And, you know, it's so, we say this a lot when we go into prisons in person, but the prayers of a prisoner. are, I think, really powerful, and the best thing that we can do for our kids, for our loved ones, for our family, our brother, sister, whoever it might be, when we're locked up, the most powerful thing we can do is pray, and it is powerful, right? Yes. And so don't think that you're helpless because, as you said, you started praying in prison on a regular basis, you know, and diligently praying for your family and for God to change you too. What were, was there two or three things that stood out to you that helped you in your Christian walk while you were in prison, something you did, or did you go to church a lot, or did you study your Bible? What kind of things did you go through, and what advice would you have for those that are still locked up, as to how to use your time in prison for, you know, for your benefit and for the glory of God? Yes. What I did is they, the prison systems here are, they're really a blessing. In Texas. In Texas. They have all kinds of volunteers coming in, doing Bible studies, they have crusades, like I remember.
Like a weekend revival. Freedom and Jesus went to the Neal unit. And I would go. Don Castleberry, wasn't it? Yes, Don Castleberry would go, and that, the ministry is such a blessing that God would put on his heart for him to love what society says is no good, for him to love. And when I would go, and you see all these volunteers, it's like home. You see those people, but their home, like their hope, like if they can do it. And I would pray when the ministry was, you know, when they were sharing their testimonies, when they were bringing word, I would pray and go like, Lord, use me, I want to do that. I want to be, when I get out, I want, I want you to use me, I want to, I'm willing to do, to bring you glory and praise God that, I mean, it took a while because I had, you know, still five years of parole when I got out, but God is faithful and he does not forget his promises. And, and I was able to do that and, and it is truly a blessing to go back and share. Because you do that now, you and Joe are an important part of our ministry and you, you join us on almost every crusade, y'all are able to come at least for a day or two. And you give testimonies and you even stand up and give a good, positive word. Well, to God be the glory. Because people that have never been in prison that have lived the prison life, it's a different world. Yeah. It's, it's a different world. It's, it's different things. It's not like you in the free world that you go to work, come home, and you're able to do that. You know, it is a different world. It's a different set of rules. And if you've never been in prison, it's hard to really relate. Yes.
Totally. It's, it's hard to, to, for you to express to someone how, how it hurts your heart that you don't get to hug your baby tonight. That when someone here, a mother is, is doing this and that and frustrated, and then, you know, an aunt comes over to pick up the kids or something that you're going like, Oh, what a relief. We just want that. Right. When you're locked up, a mom just wants that. We just want to hug our kids. We just want to love them, you know, so you don't understand that pain unless you've lived that pain. That's right. That's right. You don't understand of losing a loved one when you're in prison, and you can't go to the funeral. That's right. That happened to me too. Yeah. You don't, you don't understand that pain unless you've lived it. You know, you can hear about that pain, and you can try to sympathize with that pain. But unless you've lived it, you don't know the whole, the brokenness. That's right. You don't know the brokenness. But God is a healer. Amen. Amen. But God is a healer, and he's with you in there, because those walls, those razor wire, bob wires, nothing can stop the love of the Lord. That's right.
That's right. Nothing can stop him. Now, you've been active in church. And not only in our ministry, but also I know at least one other ministry, Road to Restoration Ministry, that ministers to women on like a spiritual retreat weekend for women who have been negatively impacted by incarceration. You've been part of that ministry for a long time too, haven't you? Yes. Yes. And so after you got out, was there still, I guess there was still healing and growth to do and, and, and, um, so your husband had to, so you got out and you were able to keep the kids and then your, your late husband, uh, at the time he had to go do his prison sentence. Yes. Yes. I got out in, uh, June 9th of 99. Okay. It's like another birthday. You know, it's a date you never forget. I'll never forget my release date. June 9th of 99. So it was, um, you know, you wait for that day, right? You're like, you're like waiting for that day. It's like a, like a birthday coming up or something. Um, so when I was released, um, yes, then about a year later, uh, then he got called and then he was going to have to have court and, uh, so then he also then went to prison and, um, I, um, we had two when I went in, but now that he was going in, I had three. Oh, okay. So, so I had a little baby.
So you got pregnant again when you got out? Yes. Yes. Before he went to prison. Yes. And then he went in, he went in and so then my, uh, our baby, our little girl, the baby was just also, you know, months old when he went in and he also went to go do about five years. And so, um, then I understand also, which is how, when, when Joe says, you know, in his testimony, you're not the only one doing time, your family's doing, your family's doing time. Yeah. Cause now, now you're on the outside, but you got a loved one on the inside. So what'd you learn from that? Well, I learned to trust God even more because on the inside, I didn't worry about the electric bill. I didn't worry about, uh, you know, who was going to pay the groceries. Cause I could walk to the chow hall three times a day if I needed to, you know, uh, but trusting the Lord for all my provisions in the, in the outside without having my husband help was without going back to your old way of life and selling drugs or something else. Now, let me tell you, that was hard to do because many times you were tempted. Weren't you? Yes. Many times the enemy would tell me, just go do a run and you don't have to worry about how you're going to get your bills paid. Just go do this. And, and, and he comes the enemy to attack you at any moment. At your weakest point too. Yes.
When you're stressed, when you don't know how you're going to pay the bills out here and, and you're just going like looking at your purse and you don't have anything and, and then the old way comes back, like the old ways going like you could go and make some money, pay all the bills and you'll have a little bit extra. But I could also get caught and get thrown back in prison. And then what are your babies going to do? Yeah. And, and I remember. So you had to take your thoughts captive. Oh yes. 2 Corinthians 10, four and five. Yes. Yeah. So that was real to you. Knuckle gripping. I have a testimony that I was coming from work and, um, I would work overtime to try to make ends meet and everything. And there was one exit where then there would be a bar in that exit. And out of nowhere, driving home, my mom was taking care of my daughters. I don't know where there I'm going and I'm stressed out and, and things. And, and I've got my hands on the steering wheel. And then all of a sudden that thought comes, just go over there, have a little drink. You deserve it. You deserve it. You're working so hard. You deserve it. No one will know. Come on. What a lie.
What a lie. Cause you know, God knows. Yes. No one will know. And I, my hands were like this gripped knuckles turning white. I was battling and I was praying, Lord, help me. No. And I. I'm telling you, it was a fight. It was a battle and I was going. because I wanted relief. Yeah, I was so stressed. How am I going to pay the bills? I, you know, I'm barely making it. I go two weeks with the dollar. Like, how like, just no one will know. You deserve it. You're doing so good. Yes, you're doing so good. Just go. And I was like this praying Lord, help me know. I trust in you, Lord, for the Word says that you are my provider. And as soon as I passed the exit where I couldn't turn anymore into that bar where, where I, the familiar was, it was boom, it left. Praise God. It just like that, that like, okay, we'll try it again later. The enemy said, I'll try it again later. Come on. So the Word says, submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee. So you were submitting to God and the devil heard you submit to God and said, Lord, I don't want to do this. Help me. And, you know, you were a white knuckle faith, so to speak. And, uh, and so you were submitting to God and in that you are resisting the devil and he does have to flee and you're right. He'll pick another opportune time to come try to come back again. But that's where we have to, we just have to learn to take those thoughts captive to have a way to do what you did and that is submit to God. Yes. And God always makes a way out. Amen. And that way was just continue forward. Come on. Continue forward. Yeah. And not take it off. Don't get off the path and praise God. That's a good test. I hadn't heard that part of your testimony. Yeah. Praise God. Yeah. Yeah. Um, whatever, what other things have happened since you got out to have matured you and your walk and you're talking about interior healing. You've, have you, you've been healed to some things as, as you've gone forward in life. What, what kinds of things to, you know, would
those who are still locked up with that, how can they deal with that and begin to turn that over to God and ask God to heal them of their, because we get hurt by our decisions and other people hurt us as we're growing up and even as adulthood and our own decisions hurt us too, uh, which we have to take responsibility for that. But, um, what kind of input or advice would you have for those that are maybe watching today as to what could they do to, to go ahead and begin that healing process and not, not wait till they get out. It's actually trusting in, in God, trusting that he will take you from layer to layer of healing, you know, because we don't want to revisit the trauma. And because when we revisit the trauma, it hurts. But when that trauma happened, then we made another choice and then there was more trauma. And then, and then we made another choice and there's more trauma. But if we go let God heal us, like God is so gentle and so loving that when he reveals a trauma to us, he doesn't want to bring you the pain, but he wants to bring you the healing. Amen. That's good. You know, because he wants to actually heal and not leave it a scab, because when he, when you have a scab, the enemy comes to pick it and then it'll bleed. But when it's healed, there may be a scar, but you can't pick it and it won't bleed anymore. And that's what God wants. He wants to completely heal us so that the enemy won't pick at it anymore. And we can overcome because the word of God says that we are more than conquerors. He doesn't want us to be survivors. I didn't survive prison. We conquered it. And I say we because it was the Holy Spirit in me. Greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world. I couldn't have done that. Walked through that time in my life without him. I couldn't. And in there, in there is where I learned to trust him. In there is where I learned, I went from faith to faith and then glory to glory and still going glory to glory and faith to faith. Still a process now. Yes. So a lot of people think when you get saved, you're not going to have any problems or, or, you know, everything's just going to be roses and hunky dory. And, and that's not true. So, I mean, I know you've been through, through pain and heartache and things even after you've gone out, but, but if you got, you got through that. Yes. Yes. So when then, when my late husband came home after five years, now I have my youngest, you know, five years and five years old, my oldest 10 and nine. And now it's yay, we're going to serve the Lord together.
We're going to be a family. We're going to be a family. And the very first time when when my husband had had a heart attack, he had no, you know, issue with his heart, no damage at all. And now praise God, because he went and done five years and he didn't have a heart condition. And then when he got out a year later, after we were a family, and we were like, going to church together praising the Lord. I mean, it was like, Oh, this is what we were waiting for. Yes. Then he had another heart attack. He did. Yeah. He had another heart attack. And this one, he didn't make it through. But I do want to say there's power, so much power in our words, so much power in our words. My late husband would always say, I don't want to get old. I don't want to, I don't want to be weak. He was when he was a younger, he was a Golden Glove champ. So he was very like fit. And he would always say that I don't want to get old. He passed away when he was 50. So young. But be mindful, be very mindful what you speak. Yeah. What does it say out of your mouth comes blessings and curses, right? Yes. Out of your own mouth. And he would say that he many times he would say, I know I'm going to die young. And well, once again, I have to really trust God again. Yeah.
Because now I have three girls and now I'm a widow. Yes. And I was questioning why I was saying why. Why after all of this that we go through now, this happens, why, why, why? And I don't know why I had to turn my why into what now, Lord, you need to help me. Amen. That'll turn your why into what now, Lord? What now, Lord? And I many times I was laid out in the room, crying and praying. On your face before the Lord. On my face before the Lord, crying and saying, your word says that your people will not go begging for bread. So I'm not going back to what I know. Because now I know that you are my provider. I don't know how you're going to do it. But you need to do it because you promised me. And I would just cry out and I would cry and cry and cry. And then a peace would come on me. And then I would just go like, okay, I don't know. And then he would provide when he would provide, I got a check in the mail that I had overpaid on AT&T and then I called and I said, what is this? And they said, oh, well, when you, you know, I got a check in the mail and I called to make sure that, you know, cause I don't want to pay it back. And sure enough, I called one day and I had to make a choice that, you know, I just can't afford the cable anymore. I just can't afford it. And I've got to make some cuts. I called the cable company and, and, and had the cable disconnected. And then I got a check in the mail for the cable and then I called them and go like, this is a trick.
If I cash it, they're going to put the cable back on and I'm going to keep paying for it. They said, no ma'am. And I said, well, a cable is still on. I go, do you, I asked y'all to cut it off. And they said, yes, ma'am, we have it, but we just haven't got somebody over there. And I said, okay, cause I can't pay for it. And they said that check is yours, cash it, and we've got an order for you to get it. I went two years with cable before they ever came to, they ever came. And my sister lived in the same block, but across the alley, they came and disconnected her for non-payment. And I went like, they're going to get me now cause we're so close and they never did. God is good. God is favor. God is favor. And, and you think the little things like that. Yeah. But you know what? God didn't want me to sacrifice that cable. Because it's all we had sometimes. Your kids, I'm sure your kids kind of. We would have a movie night on Friday, like we'd watch a movie and had popcorns. Because I couldn't take them places because I had to live on a budget that time. But little things like that, that God will never fail you. God will never fail you. Even in there, God will never fail you. That's right. That's good.
That's good. Some people worry about getting a job when they get out because they have a criminal record, but you've been working now for 20 years. I mean, as far as I know. Yes. And you've gotten good jobs. Yes. So God is able to provide, he's able to open doors where we think, oh my goodness, how can I ever get that job? But he's been faithful to you there too, isn't he? Yes. And it was in prison when I started praying for God to open doors and to lead me where he wanted me to. Yes. Because we have to be practical, even in prison. We have to know, you have to vision what you're going to live out here. So I envision I need a job. That, come on. So who better than to pick my job? Right. So I would pray, Lord, open doors for a new job. You give me favor in that. So I prayed even in there. I didn't wait to come out here and go like, well, whatever job you want. Now what am I going to do now? Yes.
Do that now. Because those doors are going to open for you. Yeah. And you know, there's a lot of education on these tablets because they're watching on their tablet now, either on Edovo or Pando, but Edovo in particular, I know has a whole lot of education. People can learn finances now. They can learn even culinary arts. They can learn, I mean, even some basics in electrical trades. There's all kinds of things. And so I would encourage you use this time wisely. And, you know, I know there's things on the tablet that you can get distracted and maybe don't really help you in your walk or don't really help you get prepared for life on the outside, but, you know, stay away from that stuff and spend your time on things that are going to help you. Yes. And I know you prepared because you have, compared to when we were in there, I got out end of 2010 and you said you got out the end of 99. So we didn't have, there wasn't anything like tablets or anything.
And in fact, did they even have phones? Well, you had to drop a slip and then you had to go wait. Yeah. And then it was a five minute phone call with the guard in front of you. So now it's a lot easier even to have video calls with their loved ones and things. So, but anyway, don't take that for granted is I guess what I'm trying to say. And continue, you know, start now praying and, and, you know, you said something, you got to get a vision. The Bible says without a vision, the people perish. Yes. Yes. And I want you to tell one little story and then we're going to wrap it up because I love this, this story. You always talk about a verse in Psalm about taste and see that the Lord is good. Yes. Taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is a man who trusts in him.
And when you get a taste of Jesus, his goodness, his mercy, his grace, oh, how blessed you are. His word says that his goodness and his mercy follow us. That's right. All the days of our lives, even in there. That's right. Even in there, you can't run from it. Right. You know, but as going back, you know, I always thought because my mom went to church and everything I always knew, like being with the Lord was good. And then the ones that weren't going, you know, having Jesus in their heart were bad. And so I was always tried to do good. I tried to do good. But in the dark, I was doing bad. Okay. So you were kind of two people.
Yes. And I was very good at it. Yeah. Because I had the face of very innocent, but I was a very different kind of person. And so, and I knew it, even in my bad, I would be like, oh Lord, help me, help me. And then, and then I would be good in my own will, the max two weeks. Yeah. Like I wanted to stop doing drugs. Yeah. I'm 100% sure every person that does drugs and has an addiction, they don't go around doing their drugs going like, man, I sure am glad I'm addicted. Oh, I know. But they are saying like, I want to get off of this. I don't want to do this tomorrow. Let's not do this anymore. And then you're doing it again tomorrow. Yeah. You know, I don't want to do this. In your own will, I could only do maybe two max two weeks of really on your own on my own. And and you know what? On your own, we can't do it. No, you'll never do it. You'll never never do it. But I always thought that Jesus because I grew up in church, and this was told sometimes it's sad that it was told on the pulpit, like, you better get right and you want Jesus to bless you. And you were over there drinking, and you were over there smoking, and you're over there dancing. And I was going like, Oh, that's me, you know? Okay, so let me try. Right. But guess what? God loved me. He still even when I was over there drinking, even when I was over there. Just wanted you to love him. Yes, yes. And we get well, I had a sense of that Jesus was very out to get me. Yes. That's why I had to get right to punish you. Yes. That's why I had to get right
before I could even draw near to him. Okay. What a lie. That is a lie. That is a lie of the enemy that you need to get right before you even come to him. Come as you are, just as I am, it says, right? Yes. Yeah, I had to come like that prostitute that was caught in the very act and fall at his feet, fall at his feet and say, Here I am. And I am as guilty as all of them say that I am. Yeah. Yeah. And maybe even more. But he said, What did he say? Who accuses you now? And that's what he said to me, who's accusing you? I just want to love you. Come on. And when I seen his face, gonna get me crying. When I seen his face full of love in there in prison. When I seen that he just loved me. Even in the mess. Yeah. That he loved me. Praise the Lord. That is where taste and see that the Lord is good. Amen. Because I saw that he didn't want to judge me. Yeah. That he didn't want to punish me. But that he just wanted to wrap his loving arms around me. Yes. He wants to spend eternity with you. That he just wanted to start healing me. He just wanted to start doing that. And I'll go back to the what you hear me say in prison is that you don't know what you don't know. Yeah. You know, when I was out here in the world, you know, through all the Christmases and all the Thanksgivings, I always thought cranberry, the cranberry sauce, the cranberry sauce that look like a can. It just didn't look like, you know, a slice like that. I was going like that. It's kind of like, to me, I thought like, that's gonna taste like a can. So, so I never wanted any. Yeah. Yeah. But when you're in prison, and you have Thanksgiving or Christmas, you're only going to get one meal, and then you're going to have a Johnny. Yeah. So like a sandwich. Yes. And you never know what it is. Yes. Stale bologna or something. Yes. So so they called chow and I went in and and they're just serving you. And the girl was putting in cranberry sauce. And I went no, no. And it was there. And I'm going like, Oh, but you're hungry. Yeah. That's that's the difference. You're hungry. And so I kind of scooted the cranberry sauce back. And then but I still got a taste of it. Yeah. And I said, Oh, this is good. Oh, this is sweet. This is good. This cranberry sauce is good. Oh, what I've been missing. Oh, what I've been missing. Right. And not to say that God is like cranberry sauce. But Oh, what I had been missing. Because the world and I thought I had to be good. Yeah. But his goodness is sweet. Amen. And Oh, what I had been missing. Amen. And that's where I got. Oh, taste and see. I love that. Not what you Think he may be, not your perception of the world that he's out to get you, but taste and see his goodness.
Who he really is. Yes. You got to experience it. And he is love, and he loves you so, so much. And all he wants to do is to love you, bless you, heal you, prosper you, give you victory, and it belongs to you because it's his promise. And we've got to believe it. We've got to believe that every promise in the Bible is for you. It's for me. I believe it. That's when I didn't have money after my late husband passed that I cried on the floor and said, I don't know how you're going to do it, but I know you are. And I know you are. That's tasting his goodness. Then you can walk away and go like, now you do it, Lord. Come on. You can trust him. You can trust him. Yeah. And he's never failed me. No. And you never know. It's, you know, we, sometimes we think he didn't do it on time, but he's never late really. He's never late. Yeah. Yeah. Well, as we get ready to wrap up, I'm going to, is there anything, anything else you want to tell the folks before we wrap? I'm going to ask you to just pray us out here in a minute.
Is there anything else you want to say that we hadn't got to, or? Just really quick that then after I was widowed for, you know, for five years, then God is still good. And he brought a good man into my life. That's right. Yes. He brought a good man into my life and a great man with my daughters. They can call him up and say, you know, like, I have a flat and he'll be right there, you know? Yes. Yes. Ricardo. And he loves, he loves our grandchildren, you know, and, and the other day I was on the porch and he was playing with our grandson and I was just crying and Lord, and I said, this was what I saw. Yeah. And I thought it was going to be with my first husband, my late husband, but you are still faithful. Yeah. And he gave me a good man that loves our grandkids. Amen. Wow. And he is good. Wow. God is good. I'm glad you, I'm glad you said that because it's something we didn't get to. Yeah. Yeah. So, so he's a, he's a blessing and he's a good hard worker, a good provider and a good man.
Yes. And he gets into the prisons too. Yes. He didn't get to go quite as often because he's, he's got a concrete company, doesn't he? Yes. He's out of town working a lot and stuff, but well, uh, why don't you, would you pray us out? Yes. Yes. Heavenly father. We just thank you and praise you, father God. We thank you for who you are, father God. We thank you, Lord, that walls cannot stop your power, father God, razor wire cannot stop you, father God, but your presence is there with these ladies, with these men that are incarcerated, father God, your presence is there. Father God, your Holy spirit, father God is there. You are healing right now. Father God, you are drawing close father God, these families, because it's not just the ones that are incarcerated father God that you see, but you see families, Lord, you see generations, father God coming before you, Lord, worshiping together, Lord, serving you together, Lord. I just pray father God that these ladies and men, father God, we'll take this time, Lord, and just dig in more into you, father God, that they taste and see your goodness, Lord, because you are a healer, father God, heal right now, the brokenness, father God, heal the brokenness, father God. Oh, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. Open the windows of provision for them, father God. Be with their families, father God, I pray for their children, father God, that you send ministers to them where they are at, father God, keep their families intact out here,
father God, in the world, father God, provide for them, Lord. We just thank you and praise you, father God. We thank you, Lord, for those who are being released soon, father God, I pray for favor with jobs, father God, with opportunity, father God, and that they will plug in, father God, to where your word is spoken, father God, where you are praised, father God, lead them to a church. church that they need to be at, Father God, that they will not stray from you, Father God, but that they will take their family and worship together because you and you alone are worthy, Lord, worthy, worthy of praise, Father God. I pray for healing over them, Father God, physical healing, Father God. There's some sick people right now in prison, Father God. We just pray that your healing power right now reach through this video, Father God, because you are not a person, Father God, that time or space can control. But you are right there in the mist right now. Healing someone, Lord, healing someone, Lord, we thank you and praise you for that, Father God. Oh, we love you and praise you, Father God. May your light and your glory shine there, Father God, in that cell, Father God. May your glory shine there in that, in that bunk, Father God, when someone is feeling the pain, the brokenness of missing their children, Father God, that you bring comfort to their heart, Father God, that you teach them to pray for their children. Oh, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. Thank you. You are worthy, Lord. You are worthy, worthy of praise, for we love you and praise you, Father God. Your goodness and your mercy, they follow us. We can't shake it off. Oh, how blessed we are to have you. Greater are you and us, Father God, than he that is in the world. You give us, Father God, your spirit so that we can be more than conquerors.
And we thank you and praise you, Father God. In Jesus' name, amen. Amen. Amen. Thank you, Olga. Hey, thanks for tuning in, and we'll be back again on the Old Man, New Man podcast. God bless you. Have a great day. Amen. Hallelujah.
