LA RESURRECCIÓN LO CAMBIA TODO

More than 2,000 years ago, a man was born who changed everything. He put aside his robe of royalty for the mantle of a peasant. He was rich and yet, for love of us, he became poor. This man lived in poverty and grew up in anonymity. He did not receive formal education and never possessed wealth or a generalized influence. He never traveled extensively. He rarely crossed the borders of the country where he lived. But the life of this man has changed the course of history. In his childhood, he disconcerted a king. In his childhood, he amazed religious heretics. In his adult age, he ruled the course of nature. He walked on stormy waters and calmed the sea, which was enraged, until he fell asleep. He healed a multitude without medicine and did not charge anything for his services. He never exercised psychiatry and yet, he healed more broken hearts than all combined doctors. He never wrote a book and yet, his life inspired more books than any other man's. He never composed a song and yet, he has provided the theme for more songs than all composers together. He never founded a university and yet, all schools together can not resist having so many students like him. He never led an army. He never recruited a soldier or fired a gun. And yet, no leader ever managed to make so many rebels surrender to him without firing a single shot. Herod could not kill him. Satan could not seduce him. His enemies could not destroy him. The tomb could not contain him. And after three days, he rose again and lives forever. He is the eternally perfect Christ, the son of the living God. And he is standing at the highest peak of heavenly glory, proclaimed by God, recognized by the angels, adored by his people, and feared by the demons. For he is the risen Lord and the Savior for the centuries of the centuries.

Jesus Christ, whom we love, whom we adore, and whom we hope. This is not just a good story. This is what we celebrate today. Because after the crucifixion, they said, Jesus is dead. But three days later, on Sunday morning, God said, Jesus is alive. And when Jesus came out of that tomb, the resurrection changed everything. Lord, today, we thank you for the opportunity we have to celebrate the most important event in the history of humanity, your resurrection. And just as you live, I pray that today, many who are spiritually dead can come to life. In the precious name of Jesus. Amen, amen, amen. Tell two people, the resurrection changes everything. Tell, tell, tell, tell someone. You know, when I reflect and look back in my life, there are moments and discoveries from my childhood that changed everything for me. I remember when I learned to read. Does anyone remember that? When I realized that the letter connected to the other, ma, ma, ma, ma. That, when one is a child and discovers that now one can read things, that changes everything. I also remember when I discovered my dad's secret Nestle Crunch chocolate bar. At four years old, it changed my life. I remember the first time I was able to drive the car alone without anyone supervising me. Does anyone remember when he had his license and was able to drive legally? Wow, that changed everything. I remember when I got married. Wow, that changed everything. I got married to the most incredible woman in the world. Ghislaine Sophia. Thank you for your support.

I remember when we had our baby. That changes your life. The reality that now we have a small human being that can't do anything by itself and now it depends on us. Lord, help us to keep him alive. It changed our lives. Through history, we look back and there are technological discoveries and advances that changed everything. Well, the years 3,500 BC, the wheel. How many of you know that the invention of the wheel changed everything for humanity? How about in the 19th century, electricity and the light bulb? That changed everything. It revolutionized energy and allowed us to be more productive even at night. The internet. Let's talk about the smart phone that combines so many things. But look at this, many technological advancements appear and change everything for a moment. And then they become obsolete and something better emerges, something newer, something that changes everything again. But today I want to talk to you about a change that has not been replaced in more than 2,000 years. The fact that Jesus rose from the dead, the resurrection of Jesus, changes everything. It changed the previous reality in such a significant way. And there is no revolutionary event in the history of the world that can ever replace the resurrection of Jesus. Now, why did the resurrection change everything? Well, because it is historically clear that Jesus was dead and on the third day he rose again. Although it seemed that everything had ended, although it seemed that there was no hope. Now, if we are honest, here we have all had moments in which we have felt hopeless. Can someone say Amen? Moments in which things fell apart. A dream crumbled, a relationship ended, a marriage was broken. The feeling of having a purpose vanished, hope for the future disappeared. And perhaps today you have entered here with some burdens in your life, in your heart. Perhaps your soul is destroyed or you feel broken. Perhaps you entered with a smile on the outside, but inside you feel that there is something that is dead.

The question that many people ask is, does the resurrection really matter to me? Not only from a historical or religious point of view, but on a personal level. Today we are going to see that the resurrection of Jesus is not just something that happened. The resurrection changes everything. We are going to open our Bibles to Luke chapter 24. It is going to be the only portion that I am going to ask you to go with me if you have your Bibles. Of course, we are going to have the verses on the screen. But this portion is one of the portions of the Bible that speaks to us specifically about the resurrection of Jesus. Luke 24. Remember that the followers of Jesus, specifically the women who had prepared oil and everything to anoint the body, the dead body of Jesus, could not do it because it was the Sabbath, the day of rest, which was not allowed. So let's see what Luke 24 says, verse 1. On the first day of the week, early in the morning, the women went to the tomb, carrying the aromatic spices that they had prepared. They found that the stone that covered the tomb had been removed, and when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. As they wondered what had happened, two men were presented to them in shining robes. Who were those? They were frightened angels. They prostrated themselves to the ground with their faces. But they said, look at this question, Why do you seek the one who lives among the dead? He is not here. He has risen. Remember what he said when he was still with you in Galilee. The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, but on the third day he will rise. So they remembered the words of Jesus. Let's stop there. I love verse 5. Why do you seek the one who lives among the dead? He is not here. He has risen.

This singular statement changed history. But more importantly, it changes lives. And today we are going to discover four ways in which the resurrection changes everything. How many am I going to share? Four. Number one. The resurrection changes our hope. Give me hope. It is not a hope based on illusions or positive thinking. It is a hope based on resurrection. And this matters because the Bible teaches us, and I want you to pay attention, especially those who do not have much experience with God or the Bible. The Bible teaches us that our biggest problem as human beings is outside of us and not inside of us. Our biggest problem is not circumstances. It is not the president. It is not world wars. No. Our biggest problem as human beings is called sin. Say sin with me. And the truth is that spiritually speaking, as we are all sinners, we are all spiritually dead. Not physically, but spiritually. What does spiritually dead mean? It means separated from God. Disconnected from God and the life to which He has called us to live. Paul makes it very clear in Romans 3.23 when he says, We have all sinned. No one can reach the glorious goal established by God. Pause. How many have we sinned? Show me who is everyone. Everyone. Now, how many can reach the glorious goal established by God? established by God? No one, no one. We have all sinned. Now, some sins are big and obvious. Other sins are small and hidden. Some sin loudly, some sin silently. So don't say

that my sins are smaller than his or hers. Period. Sin, period. We are all sinners. And that's why it's important to understand this, and I want to make it clear to you. Here's the point. Christianity is not about bad people doing good. It's about dead people coming back to life. Amen? That's the heart of the Gospel. That's the heart. And the resurrection changes everything. Look at what Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15, verse 21. He says, So, you see, just as death entered the world through a man, now the resurrection of the dead has begun through another man. Just as all die, because we all belong to Adam, the first man, all who belong to Christ will receive, listen to me, new life. Did you hear that? In our sinfulness, as human beings, we die in Adam, but if we are in Christ, we receive new life. And because Jesus rose again, now new life is possible. That's why the resurrection is important. Let me give you an example. If someone is drowning, they don't need advice to swim. If someone is drowning, they don't need you to encourage them. Come on, you can do it. Come on, come on. You're not going to help them with your technique. If someone is drowning, they need to be rescued. Now, if someone has already drowned, they don't need training. They need resurrection. Church, that is our condition without Christ. Without Christ. We are not swimmers in distress. We are spiritually dead. And that's why the resurrection is so important, because when Jesus came out of that tomb, He not only proved that He is powerful, He also proved that He can turn dead things into living ones. And this is the hope we have today. What is dead in your life that needs a resurrection today? What has lost hope in you that today Jesus can raise from the dead? Here is a good line. Hope lives because Jesus lives. And how good that our hope is not based on our strength, but on His resurrection. Number two. The resurrection changes our identity. And this is where many people misinterpret Christianity. Because society often says, ah, just be a better person. Be stronger. Be nicer. Be more religious. Pray several times. Do these things. Then you will be fine. Then you can fix yourself. However, this idea, this humanist idea that suits us, that if I do more things, if this is the good thing I do, and this is the bad thing I do,

if I do more good than bad, then there is more weight, then I deserve it. Because, look, I don't kill people like that. Because we generally compare ourselves to the worst, right? And we think, humanistically speaking, that if I do more good than bad, then I already deserve heaven. I have already earned it. However, the Bible is very clear. The Bible is very clear. And the Bible tells us something different. The problem is not that we need some improvement. The problem is that we are all guilty. Guilty. The scripture says in Romans 6.23, because the payment of sin is death. We have already established who are sinners. We are all sinners. The payment of sin is death. Notice that the payment is something you earn. And you and I earn spiritual death because of our sin. Separation from God. That is bad news. That means, family, that we cannot fix ourselves. There is no quantity of good works. There is no quantity of religion. There is no quantity of human effort that you and I can make to erase our guilt. Romans 5.8. I love it. This is one of my favorite verses. Romans 5.8 says, But God shows his love for us in this. That when we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Can someone say Amen? It is not after we clean ourselves. It is not after we fix ourselves and then we come to Him. No, no, no. Even when we were still sinners. That is tremendous. Jesus went to the cross. He paid the price that you and I could never pay. He took upon Himself our guilt, our shame, our punishment, and then He rose again to give us a new identity. Grace not only... It doesn't improve you, it transforms you. Now, imagine, I don't know how many of you here, when you wear a white shirt, like the one I'm wearing today, you worry a little bit.

I mean, when you wear a white shirt or a white dress, it's like, OK, help me, Lord, cover me, protect me, angels. Because that's where the spaghetti comes from. So what happens when you and I wear something white? Imagine that you wear your shirt or your white blouse, the most beautiful, the best, the most valuable, the most expensive, the one that someone gave you, someone very special in your life, and you stain it. And then you use all the secrets to treat it, you rub it, you rinse it, you try to fix it yourself, but the stain doesn't come off. That's the sin. We try to clean ourselves, but it seems that when we try it alone, it gets worse. We can't remove the stain. So Jesus intervenes through His grace, and He not only removes and covers the stain, but He gives us a completely new garment. Thanks to the resurrection, the stained life is gone, the new life has arrived. A group of friends of mine, many years ago, an Argentinian, Rescata, had a song called Quitamancha, talking about Jesus, who is the Quitamancha. 2 Corinthians 5, verse 17 says, This means that everyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life has passed, a new life has begun. What does this mean? It means that if you give your life to Jesus, listen to me, you are no longer who you were before. Tell someone, you are no longer who you were before, if you are in Christ. Amen? You are no longer defined by your past. You are no longer trapped by your failures. You are no longer marked by your shame. Why? Because Jesus did what He did and resurrected. You can be forgiven, you can be accepted, you can be restored, and called a son of God.

That's why today I ask you, what label do you still carry that Jesus has already erased? Do you still have the label of failure? Do you still have the label of an addict? Do you still have the label of divorced, stupid, ashamed, broken? Remove that label. Maybe that describes your past, but it doesn't define your future. Because resurrection means not only a second chance, but a new identity. Amen? 3. Resurrection changes our direction. Tell me, direction. Because when He gives you a new life and a new identity, now He gives you a new path. And here, sometimes, society pushes a little bit against it. Because today, many people out there who don't know the Bible, don't know God, say, there are many paths that lead to God. All religions are good, my daughter. Follow whichever you want, daddy. Because everything good leads to God. That's not what the Bible says. Let me clarify something. The Bible is clear. It is not rude, it is not rough, it is not arrogant, but it is clear. And it says, there is only one path that leads to heaven and to God. 1 Timothy 2.5 says, there is only one mediator, there is only one God and one mediator who can reconcile humanity with God, and it is the man, Christ Jesus. Resurrection proves that Jesus is not an option for many. Resurrection proves that He is the only way. Way. Because He is the only one who conquered death.

No one else came out of the tomb but Jesus. Go to the tomb of Mahoma, there is everything that is left. Go to the tomb of Confucius, there is everything. All the tombs have the remains there. However, the tomb of Jesus is empty. Empty. He is. He is. Listen to me. Listen to me. You cannot follow Jesus and continue in the same direction. In fact, if you continue in the same direction, I would question if you are really following Jesus. Because following Jesus requires something very important, and it is the word repentance. Oh, that is a bad word. Repentance. Many do not like that word. The original word in Greek, when you and I read repentance in the Bible, the original word is the word metanoia. Say with me, metanoia. Metanoia means a change of mind or a new way of thinking that leads me in a new direction. Repentance is not feeling bad. It is not feeling guilty. No. Repentance has to do with a half turn of 180 degrees. It is, I am walking in life towards sin, and I realize that the truth of the word of God now gives me a new way, renews my mind. And now my new way of thinking says, I am not going to go to that place anymore. I am not going to consume that garbage anymore. I am not going to look at those things anymore.

I am not going to listen to that anymore. I am not going to touch that anymore. I am not going to get involved in that anymore. Why? Because I realize that that is not what God wants. Now I change my direction and I return to God. That is repentance. I remember a few years ago that Gislaine and I were in another country at a pastoral event, and one day that we were free, we rented a small car, just the two of us, an electric car. In that place, the roads were on the opposite side, it was all confusing. And I remember that we left the hotel to go to the little town to visit, to get to know it a little bit. And I remember that there was a crazy man in the corner, when I was passing by, who started shouting, Hey, you! Hey, you! Turn around! Turn around! I told him, Giselando, look to the right, there's a crazy man shouting at me right now. I kept going straight, and about 10 or 15 seconds later, I realized that I was going in the opposite direction of a street, of a road. I made my 7-point stop there, because I was so anxious, I came back, I came back. And notice that this time, when I passed by that same man, my opinion about him changed. My opinion about him changed, and I lowered the window and said, thank you, friend. Keep keeping the streets safe, brother. And I say this because when you hear a Christian or a pastor like me say, Repent, hey, stop going in this direction and change, don't think that we're crazy saying, Hey, you! Change! No, no, no. We just want to keep you from falling into a big accident in your life. Because sometimes we go in the wrong direction, and we need Him to come in and cause repentance in us, a new direction. The Bible says, Repent, and return to God, so that your sins may be washed away, and there may come a time of refreshment from the Lord. The resurrection leads us to repentance, a new way of thinking, it leads us in a new direction. John 14, 6, Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to dad, no one goes to heaven, if it is not through me.

The resurrection proves that Jesus is who he said he is. He is not a way for many, he is the way. He is not a truth for many, he is the truth, and he is the life. So, in which direction is your life going right now? Towards God? Or in another direction? Towards the purposes of your Creator, or towards the direction of this world? Towards true life, or towards destruction? It is very important to define this. You don't have to go in the wrong direction, you don't have to remain spiritually lost, you can go around today, Jesus is the way, and he has a new direction. Last, number four, Jesus, sorry, the resurrection, changes our future. And maybe this is an important question that you and I have to answer. What happens to me after I die? Because whether you think it or not, death is coming, no one escapes death, no one avoids it. And remember, the Bible says in Romans 6.23, because the payment of sin is death. Be careful, while the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Did you hear that? The payment of sin is death. But, but, but, the gift of God is eternal life. It is a gift, you cannot earn it, you cannot deserve it, you cannot pay it. It is a gift that has to be received. Here I give you a clear statement, death here is not final. And the scriptures are very clear, when you and I take our last breath here on earth, it is not the end, there is more. The resurrection proves that life continues beyond death, beyond the physical tomb, okay? We already read that Jesus Christ was raised from the dead, we all die in Adam, but we have new life in Christ. Because Jesus resurrected, death is not the final goal.

There is something called eternity, and eternity is real. And the question is not, will I live forever? No, because you will live forever. The question is, where will you live forever? The kingdom of heaven? Oh, I'm going to say it, I'm going to say it. Or hell? The Bible does not speak of a third place, the Bible does not speak of gray and purgatory, those are invented things of religion. The Bible speaks of heaven and hell. And this is where many are confused. Why? Because we have a misunderstanding in our mind, thinking that this here is life. Listen to me, this here on earth is not our home, this is a hotel. When you go to a hotel, you don't take all your clothes and all your possessions, why? Because it is temporary. The hotel is only for a temporary time. However, many live here as if this were their home, and they never think about the real home. I'm going to show you an example. This represents your life. This hood, this rope, this rope, all this represents your life. But this red, this represents your life here on earth. The problem is that many only focus on this. This is your life, this is when you were born. Yeah, yeah. There. There is when you start walking, taking your first steps, eating compote. Here is when you discover chocolate.

Ahora la coges más suave. Disfrutas tus domingos en iglesia vertical. Todo eso. Y aquí, aquí mueres. Aquí se acabó. El problema es que muchos piensan que ahí terminó. Y aquí, apenas estás arrancando, la vida eterna. La vida eterna. La vida eterna. Ahora, el problema es que muchos, la mayoría de los seres humanos, se enfocan solo, tanto, en esto. La vida aquí en la tierra. La eternidad. La vida. La eternidad. Yo voy a invertir mi esfuerzo, mi energía, mis recursos en todo esto. Entonces, el que me diga a mí necio porque invierto tanto tiempo en las cosas del reino aquí en la tierra, el que me dice necio porque yo doy mi diezmo y más allá, doy legado más allá de encima de mi diezmo para el reino, porque estoy invirtiendo en el reino. Estoy pensando no solamente en el hotel, estoy pensando en mi casa.

Entonces, esto es una cosa que tú y yo tenemos que considerar. No vivas por este mundo por el cual vas a estar bonito. Si Dios quiere, ochenta, noventa. Si eres saludable, cien. Y hay la eternidad. Muchos pierden su tiempo, su esfuerzo, su energía, inversión en esto. Y no piensan en esto. La Biblia dice que Dios puso la eternidad en el corazón del hombre. No termina con tu funeral, solo empieza. Entonces, ¿qué estás haciendo hoy para preparar esto? ¿Qué estás haciendo hoy para determinar dónde vivirás? Porque hay una gran diferencia entre allá y allá. Por eso esto importa. Ahora, aquí está la esperanza del Evangelio. Gracias a la resurrección de Jesús, no tenemos que vivir con incertidumbre acerca de nuestro futuro. No tenemos que tener temor de la muerte. No tenemos que pensar, iré al cielo porque la Biblia es clara, Romano 10, 9. Si declaras abiertamente, si confiesas a Jesús como Señor con tu boca y crees en tu corazón que Dios lo levantó de los muertos, serás salvo. Romano 10, 13, porque todo el que invoque el nombre del Señor será salvo. Yo espero que ese todo te incluya a ti y me incluya a mí. Juan 3, versículo 5, dice Jesús contestó, te digo la verdad, escucha esto. Nadie puede entrar en el reino de Dios si no nace de agua y del Espíritu. El ser humano solo puede reproducir la vida humana, pero la vida espiritual nace del Espíritu Santo, escucha. Así que no te sorprendas, dice Jesús, cuando digo, tienes que nacer de nuevo. No es que tienes que rezar esto tres veces, da dos vueltas, súbete, párate, y eso es religión. Eso no cambia a nadie. Eso no te cambia ni el cabello. Es una vida nueva. Tú tienes que nacer de nuevo.

Esto no es físico, esto es espiritual. Es el momento donde tus pecados son perdonados, donde tu corazón es cambiado, donde tu futuro es asegurado. La vida eterna empieza cuando tú recibes a Jesús en tu corazón, no esperes. Entonces, si tu vida terminara hoy, ¿dónde sería tu residencia eterna? ¿El cielo o el infierno? No basado en sentimientos. No basado en cuánto bueno he hecho comparado con malo. No basado en adivinanzas. Basado en la verdad. Porque la resurrección significa que el cielo no es una ilusión. Es un futuro prometido. Y cuando perteneces a Jesús, tu futuro está asegurado. Tu eternidad está asegurada. Tu destino está garantizado. Gracias a Jesús tenemos la promesa del cielo. Porque Él vive, nuestro futuro está seguro. Ahora, ahora, quiero terminar con esto. Una de las cosas más importantes que la resurrección nos recuerda es que cosas muertas no siguen muertas cuando Jesús está presente. Y hablando de eso, hay una historia poderosa de una familia de nuestra iglesia que atravesaron una situación donde la esperanza se desapareció, donde la vida se desapareció. Le voy a pedir al equipo de alabanza que se ponga en posición conmigo. I call to the name that saves. In the name of all the glory. Something will rise again every time I call to Him. You can take a seat. It's tremendous that when we call to Jesus, the dead live. I don't know if you've gone through something not so dramatic, maybe like this or maybe like that. The point is that we all have a moment where we have to recognize that there is something that is dead that needs life. And in the case of human beings, we are all spiritually, we need Jesus. We talk about hope, we talk about direction, we talk about identity and the future. Jesus said in John 11, 25,

I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live even after he has died. What does that mean? Eternal life. The resurrection is not just something to admire, it is something to receive. And I have learned in these years that many will not reach heaven by 30 centimeters. Because 30 centimeters is the distance between the head and the heart. Many know Christ with their heads, but have not received Jesus in their hearts. Many can have the word of God in their heads, but not have salvation in their hearts. You can profess Christ without confessing Christ. You can be religious and still be spiritually lost. The scriptures say in Romans 10, 9, that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is the Lord and believe in your heart that God resurrected him from the dead, you will be saved. The Bible also says that if someone denies Christ, Jesus will deny him before his Father. Jesus also said that there would be more people passing through the narrow door that leads to perdition than through the open door. Many will enter through the wide door and not through the narrow door. It may be that today the Lord is inviting you to make an important decision. We do not gain anything, but the kingdom gains something when you and I repent of our sins

and receive Jesus as our Savior. You have to believe, you have to confess to Jesus, and you have to confess that He is Lord. And you have to believe in the resurrection, that God did not raise the dead. That is part of this gift of salvation. So I want to invite you, if you have never done it, to pray a prayer of faith with me. I'm not talking about religion, because religion does not change anyone. We are talking about relationship with God, relationship with Jesus. It means recognizing, first, I am a sinner, I need forgiveness. Second, believe that Jesus is the only way to heaven. And third, commit myself to a new life, not in my own way, not in the way of the world, but in the way of the word of God. And the Bible speaks of being born again, which means that there is a new life that begins, where I no longer walk in the same things as before, because there is a new destiny, there is a new identity, there is a new heart.
