God's Not Fair

All right, all right open your Bible to Matthew chapter 20 Matthew chapter 20 We're gonna continue in this sermon collection called the kingdom is like the kingdom is Like Matthew chapter 20, we're gonna read from verses 1 all the way to verse 16 Can you handle 16 verses of Scripture? All right, let's do it once you found that if you don't mind stand to your feet for the reading of the Word of God Matthew chapter 20 verse 1 through 16. I Am loving this sermon collection, by the way I know we just got started, but I can already tell that we're breaking off old mindsets We're shifting into new paradigms. This is a good right on time word Matthew 20 verses 1 through 16. Let's read for the kingdom of heaven is like a Master of a house who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard I think we know already who the master is That's God and we're the laborers How many of you know that we do not have a harvest problem, but we have a laborers problem we need more laborers and In the vineyard. Amen verse 2 after You got to get that after With the laborers for a denarius a day He sent them into his vineyard and going out about the third hour He saw others standing idle in the marketplace and to them. He said you go into the vineyard, too And whatever is say that again, whatever is I will give you so they went Going out again about the 6th hour and the 9th hour He did the same and about the 11th hour He went out and he found others standing and he said to them Why do you stand here idle all day and they said to him because no one has hired us He said to them you go into the vineyard, too And when evening came the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, I wonder who that could be maybe Jesus

Come on Call the laborers and pay them their wages beginning with the last up to the first see it's an upside-down kingdom and When those hired about the 11th hour came each of them received a denarius Now when those hired first came they thought that they would receive more but each of them also received a denarius and on receiving it they What they do at the master of the house saying these lasts worked only one hour and You have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat But he replied to one of them friend. I am doing you no wrong. Did you not? With me for a denarius. So take what belongs to you and go I Choose to give to this last worker as I give to you Am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me or do you begrudge my? Thank God That he's so generous or do you begrudge my generosity the master asked verse 16 So the last will be first and the first Last that is what the kingdom of God is like now I have a bit of a controversial title today for a Controversial parable, are you ready for it? It's this God's not fair Are you mad at me already God's Not fair. Come on. Let's pray together Lord. We say thank you for your generosity God, we are so grateful for salvation in this place today. We're grateful for the cross of Calvary Thank you for your precious blood that was spilled and your body that was broken So that each and every one of us might be saved by your glorious grace Lord, I pray that you would anoint our minds today to think in the way that you would have us to think Because your thoughts are not our thoughts and your ways are not our ways But we stand here this morning Receiving the mind of Christ as the word tells us we have in Jesus name We pray and the church said a man you can be seated

My wife and I recently welcomed our fourth baby to the family Ezra who is here today. Have y'all met him yet? Come on, bring him up, why not? I love doing this. There he is, there's a guy, there's a boy. All right, don't scream while I'm preaching. He probably will, though. As, Rua, you wanna say hi to? I don't wanna leave you out. You wanna say hi to? She's eating Doritos. You wanna say hi to? Doesn't want to, okay. Rua is our third, Ezra's our fourth, and so as a parent of four kids, you know what phrase I hear in my house more than any other? Y'all already knew. That's not fair. And I hear it all the time, and if you've got kids, I know you've heard it before, and if you've got young kids, then you probably hear it all the time. Usually, I hear it at the breakfast table. So in our house, Dad makes breakfast right now, and right now, all of them will eat simultaneously oatmeal because sometimes at breakfast, they forget that I'm their father,

and they think I'm their line cook. You know what I mean? They're snapping omelets. I'm like, bro, we got 15 minutes before we gotta load up and get to school. We don't have time for eggs over medium, and for me to like grate scallions until you've had enough. My son thinks he ought to get black truffles for breakfast on a random Wednesday, all right? He just bougie like that. So usually, it's at the breakfast table do I hear, that's not fair. You put blueberries in Remy's oatmeal, and you did not give me enough pineapple, okay? Remy's allergic to pineapple. You don't even like blueberries. Why are you complaining about what she's got? Just eat what you got. Sometimes, they'll say this about sleepovers, and we don't even do sleepovers for real, but like somebody that's a friend of ours will have a birthday, and my son will get to go, and then I'll hear it the whole day. That's not fair. It's not fair that his friend was born on this day. Sometimes, they'll get mad over who got sick. It's not fair that he got the flu and got to stay home from school. That's not fair. You want the flu?

That's crazy, but it's true. How many of you guys got kids? How many of you guys hear this all the time? That's not fair. I did some research, like scientific research, and it is crazy what I learned is that kids, even before they turn two, y'all, they already have a general understanding of fairness and how to apply it. Now, as they get older, somewhere around eight years old, psychology tells us that we develop this ability not only to assess what is fair, but to also resent other people for what they get that we don't. Wow. Now, what's crazy is that I don't think that we outgrow this as we age. We just get better at hiding it. Rather than saying to people, we say in our hearts to God, perhaps on our commute, God, you are not being fair. And this is our paradigm because we live in the place of the American dream. So, if we're not careful, we will transpose culture codes onto the kingdom and then be upset with God because he's not upholding the things that we've come to expect from our society. So, in an American context,

we live in what's called a meritocracy. And so, we have this general expectation of necessary fairness. And if you're unfamiliar with what that word means, meritocracy, it means that we live in a society where rewards are assigned based upon individual ability, talent, and demonstrated achievement. And I don't know if you would agree or not, but I think most of the time this is true as our culture emphasizes equal opportunity and certainly rewards merit. In America, we kind of live by this phrase of if you work really hard and you believe in yourself, then anything is possible. Did you guys grow up hearing things like that? I don't know if you did, but I did. I grew up in a house where my dad would tell me just about every day, you can do anything, son. You can do it. I believe in you. And God believes in you more than you believe in him. And I would always. leaving courage thinking I can do anything despite the fact that I'm 5'7 and weigh 135 pounds, I can go to the NBA. I grew up believing I could do anything and I think that's a good thing. So whether you personally enjoy living in a meritocracy or not, I think you probably would agree that fairness is important,

that everybody in this life deserves a fair shake. Would you agree with that? Well, I want you to also know that the Bible would agree with that as well because the Bible supports fairness, Jesus supports fairness, and fairness is actually a kingdom ethic. If you'll look at the teachings of Jesus in Matthew chapter seven, he said this, so whatever you wish that other people would do to you, do also to them. For this summarizes the fullness of the Old Testament, the law and the prophets. What's Jesus teaching us here? He is teaching us a kingdom ethic of fairness and he is saying this, this is how you should treat one another. Everybody say one another. It's really important that you get this because the way in which God tells us to treat one another is with fairness. So why in the world would I title my sermon God's Not Fair? Because fair is how God says that we should treat one another. Not how God promises to treat us. Let me say it again. Fair is how God tells us to treat one another. Not how he promises to treat us. And you know what? Thank God.

Thank God because the truth is you don't want a fair God. You don't really want a fair God. Oh sure, I know you think you do whenever you do the right thing. I know you think you want a fair God when you've been laboring in the vineyard from sunup to sundown and you are sure that it's time to be rewarded because you put in the work and getting what you deserve would be fair. I have sown God. I have served God. I've been a Christian for decades God. I serve in the kids ministry God. Pay up. We wouldn't say it like that, but we might think it like that. Pay me my fair share Father. Doesn't that sound like the older brother in the prodigal son story? Fairness is biblical. There's no doubt about that. For how we relate to one another. Not for how we relate to God and not for how God relates to us. God's not fair. And what I wanna say to you this morning church is and you don't want him to be. You don't want God to be fair. Do you really want God to give you what you deserve?

I mean really, just think about that today. Do you really want God to give you what you deserve? Sure, I know you want God to be fair whenever you do the right thing, but let me ask you this. Do you really want God to be fair whenever you do the wrong thing? Because what would be fair is that for all of us to die for our sins, to die for our transgressions and the wrongdoings that we know that we have committed. The things that we have ignored the spirit of God and ignored the goodness of God and sinned and transgressed God's good law. That's what Romans teaches us in chapter six, verse 23. For the wages of sin is death. This is how you're gonna get paid for sinning. Death and that's what we're actually owed. So I think it would be wise for us to be very careful approaching God, telling him what we deserve and how he must be fair. That's not fair God. You don't want God to be fair. I promise you, you don't want a God who is fair. You want a God who is forgiving. Who will forgive you because each and every one of us are sinners, therefore we owe a debt that we could never pay. We could never pay that debt. A fair God would show up and provide us with a payment plan. If you do all of this for the next some odd years,

then I will consider forgiving you. That would be a fair God. But no, we don't serve a fair God. We serve a forgiving God that doesn't offer us a payment plan but actually provides us with debt cancellation. Once and for all, it is finished. Not because of anything that you could do right but because of what my. Son Jesus did on your behalf on the cross over 2,000 years ago Becoming a substitutionary sacrifice for you And ain't about God being fair it's about having a God that is a forgiver I don't know about you, but I just want to pull the minivan over during this message and just say thank you god Anybody else Thank you. Jesus that you didn't hold my sins against me Thank you. Jesus that you didn't look at my record before you welcomed me into the vineyard Thank you Jesus that you didn't call me to the front and publicly exposed me for everything that I did wrong before you called me To live a life of purpose in your kingdom Anybody with me this morning God is not fair. God is generous This is why we read in psalm 103. He does not punish us for all of our sins Thank you. Jesus He does not deal harshly with us as we deserve God's not fair. God's generous A fair god would keep a record and watch us until we paid back everything that we owe But a generous god forgives all of our debts and he wipes the slate clean for us Fair would mean considering your history But our master is generous

And rather than do that he comes out to get us and in this scripture five times Do you know five is the biblical number of grace and five times the master doesn't just send a servant to come get us But he goes himself This echoes the prophet ezekiel in chapter 34 verse 11 when he says for thus says the lord god I'm speaking on behalf of god. That's what ezekiel is saying. He's saying I then reiterates it I myself will search for my sheep and I will seek them out I'm, not just gonna send somebody else to do my work. No, I personally am going to come get you. What other god does that? Maybe you would feel qualified when you've done your best to approach the throne of grace boldly But god says no even at your worst When you're in your worst moments when you're the most depressed When you're the most disgusted Are you with me today? I don't know. I don't know where god has brought you from I can only tell you where he's brought me from And I know when he came and got me and I know where I was living Because I was living in a drug infested apartment I was a heroin addict just got out of an insane asylum and jesus said i'm coming to get you in six months You're gonna be dead or in prison unless you come home to me right now. That's how I got saved Look, I don't know how you got saved I Thank god that he's a missionary he doesn't just send missionaries But he himself is a missionary and he's been doing this since way back Don't forget he did this with our first father adam When adam and eve sent in the garden god didn't wait for adam to you know Drum up enough courage to approach god and say please forgive me. No, he said i'm looking for you. Where are you at? I don't know who needs to hear this today, but god is hungry for you Maybe you think you've shown up to church because you're hungry for god But the truth is god is so much more hungry for you than you could ever be for him And he's coming to get you he's coming to get you and here's the thing. He came five times. He'll come at dawn He'll come at 9 a.m. He'll come at noon. He'll come at 3 p.m. He'll come at 5 p.m He'll come in the most random moments. He'll find you in places that you think jesus should never be in

He'll come get you in the club at 2 30 a.m When you're somewhere exactly where you know, you're not supposed to be and you'll say what is that? And it's the holy spirit whispering in your ear you ain't supposed to be here I don't know who i'm preaching to today, but i'm telling you I believe I got a few people in the room You're like, yeah, i've been there pastor. I know exactly what you're talking about. God spoke to me in between shots at the ball Oh My bad, it got too real I should have given a disclaimer for this sermon that it's a rated r message for real My bad, my bad. I didn't want to get in your business today, but i'm telling you god is here for you Kingdom is different Kingdom is different every other world religion, man You got to dress it up to approach whatever god they say you that you need but but not jesus Jesus said i'm not gonna wait for you to come to me. I'm gonna come get you I'm gonna come get you in your worst case scenario That's our god What would be fair is for him to ignore you because of how often you've been disobedient But he says no i'm a generous god, even though you sin against me you transgress against my will day in day out Each and every time you told me to kick rocks and get lost, I've still come to get you. Do you know how many times I've told God, God, I don't wanna talk to you. Leave me alone. And oftentimes, it was like he was riding in the front seat of my car with me. Here I am again. Go away, God. I remember telling the Lord, I will get saved when I'm 40. I told God that as a late teen. I said, I'll get saved when I'm 40, God. Don't worry about it. I'll come to church, I'll sit in the back row,

I'll pay my tithe, and I'll go to heaven when I die. I had my own plan for salvation. I said, until I turn 40, God, please leave me alone. Never left me alone. Never left me alone. In fact, I would run into him in random places. I started dating this girl who I shouldn't have been dating. She was crazy. If I told you her name, you'd be like, yeah, that chick is crazy. Sheena, her name was Sheena. And if you happen to see this, sis, I'm so sorry. You're amazing. I know you got in church. We're both saved now. Praise God. My bad. Just kind of got into the moment. We started dating. Bro, we were not living right. And she said, you know what we're gonna do? I'm like, what? She said, we're gonna go to church. For what? Neither one of us are Christians. And she said, you need to go to church. I said, you need to go to church. No lie. Both of us, neither one of us saved in the back row of my dad's church

because that's the church she wanted to go to. And while he was preaching, she'd be like, pay attention. Like, you pay attention. And at the end, I could tell he was doing it on purpose. He was like, anybody in here? Just looking right at me. Need to get saved and give their life to Jesus today. And she would hit me. Go up. I'm not going up. She's like, you need to get saved. Jesus will come looking for you, I'm telling you, in the most random places. I'm grateful that my God is not fair. I'm thankful that my God is a forgiver. And for that very reason, we're able to quote from the Psalms today. Psalm chapter 23, verse six, it says, "'This surely goodness and mercy will follow me.'" It ain't about you following him. He's going to track you down. Does that make anybody in here feel uncomfortable? God's kingdom is not a kingdom of fairness, of merit or performance. God's kingdom is a kingdom of grace. His kingdom operates completely different than the way that the world operates, which is what we're studying all month long. The kingdom is like, we have to detach from the way that we think about the world,

the lens that we see the world through from a cultural paradigm, and we've got to move into a kingdom paradigm. And that's why it's so important for us to hear messages. And I know it's a little bit of a controversial title, like God's not fair, because we need to realign and readjust our mindsets so that we can live in accordance to our identity. I'm not just a consumer in culture, but I'm a citizen of another kingdom. And so I live in a different way and with a different understanding. And if we don't, we might end up being hardworking believers for God, but behaving just like our kids at the breakfast table. That's not fair, Dad. That's not fair. God, I cannot believe you would do me like that. That's not fair. I've been going to church for 10 years straight and I'm single. I still haven't met a man. And I see this girl, she comes and sits next to me, and I've been practicing purity. And she done been acting, been acting crazy, bro. And she gets a husband before I get a husband. That's not fair. I've been working my butt off at my job. I'm tithing, I'm giving in offerings.

Y'all did the big give, and I gave, and I meet somebody that I know doesn't give, know doesn't sacrifice, know is not generous, and yet you gave him a promotion? That's not fair. Don't you know the things that I want to do with my life, God, don't you know that I wanted to succeed in that area? Somebody who deserves it less according to my own personal standards gets the very platform that I expected you to give me God that's Don't act like you ain't never said it Do we not think that the father knows what he's doing Really do we not think that the father knows what he's doing when I give my kids oatmeal in the morning I give the amounts that I do on purpose I Give the amounts that I do on purpose because the smallest doesn't need everybody say need You got to catch this because we saw that in the scripture The smallest doesn't need as much as the biggest I Got a I got a big boy 11 I'm gonna be about 6 4 stature of my dreams And he don't even like basketball So I give him a lot of oatmeal Where you know Ru is she's left, but I give her a little bit of oatmeal because she don't eat nothing but cake pops Seriously do The smallest doesn't need as much as the biggest and you know what the biggest doesn't need the same thing as the baby The baby needs something completely different and I know what's gonna harm the one that's got allergies So I know what she doesn't need and then I know what this other one needs that's gonna help her finish all of her food Yes, I know. It's annoying to see somebody else receive more than you. Yes I know it's annoying to see somebody else receive something

Different than you that you'd also like to have but you've got to trust that your heavenly father knows what he's doing And this is the first point write it down. God's not fair, but your father knows what you need everybody say need Matthew chapter 6 Jesus says this do not be like them for your father knows what you before you even ask him and Before you start thinking the denarius was like this big payday. It wasn't it was a simple day's wage That's all the denarius was you might even say it like this. It was enough for daily bread It was exactly what was Needed and wasn't that enough for you when you were first found and welcomed into the vineyard Wasn't what you needed Enough for you when you were first saved. Oh Come on, talk to me a little bit just for a minute You know those prayers that you prayed on the first week month of your salvation God. I'll go anywhere I'll do anything I'll serve anywhere God send me to India See that made some of y'all nervous right she's like, yeah, we ain't praying that way no more man. I ain't trying to go to India I've heard your stories You know what I'm talking about what you needed was enough to surrender when you first got saved but after you've been living for the master for a little bit and After you've been working in the vineyard for a little while and after you've served and collected a few years of experience No longer. Are you looking for just what you need now? You're looking at the master saying you better give me what I want Or else you're not fair It's quiet in here man And I know because I've been there I can't tell you the prayers that I prayed embarrassingly Shaking my fist at God telling him and he's not fair because he gave somebody else something that I wanted that I felt deserved it less You ever been there before is I told you maybe this message is too real. Is it too real? Are you okay? God that's not fair. I can't believe you do that to me. I've lived righteous and I got cancer God god, that's not fair. I can't believe that you would do that to my kid. I Live right by you and my kid is failing in school and then you know, so-and-so's kid who never even

Hangs out with their son is excelling. That's not fair and and if we take cultural paradigms and we Transpose them over into the kingdom and we have this expectation that God would operate according to our cultural paradigms of fairness Every time somebody gets something that we believe that we deserve according to our own performance and merit We're calling the question the nature of God and then we'll put on a new lens, which is this competition in comparison? Whenever trust for the father discipline dissipates then Entitlement manifest and our paradigm becomes that of competition in comparison So rather than focus on his hands and what he's giving us as daily bread. We're searching other people's pockets What's God giving you I want to know because I'm going to use that as a barometer of how fair I believe the master to be and And then we live life complaining and entitled and we're wondering why in the world Has God been so unkind to me because you're expecting God to operate according to your standard of fairness and God's not fair God's generous He's generous When I was a kid I Decided to try farming I I Know it's funny. It is it's funny because you guys can't see me as a farmer, but I'm from West, Kentucky Sacramento to be exact population 424 according to Wikipedia I went a couple of weeks ago and I was bummed to learn that we had lost Population in 2020. I think we were 606 and now we're 424 And most of my friends that I grew up with they're all farmers they either Or they're coal miners so they they farm Corn mostly some of them farm beans. There are other ones that farm chickens Some of them farm tobacco, but now a lot of them farm weed It's true that's big in Kentucky, I don't think y'all know that hemp is a big deal So all of my friends I grew up with they're all farmers and I said to myself one day them farmers got money. I Mean I see the kids in school pulling up to ag class They got brand new Ford f-250s power stroke King ranch, son. I'm like I need to have one of those How y'all got so much money man, and they said we work on the farm

I said I want to work on the farm and and they laughed just like you guys did a minute ago They're like you see that James Franco mean like, you know looking down the shoulder like you ain't fit for that. I Said I can do anything. My dad told me so I can do anything. I'm amazing. I can farm. It ain't no problem And so they said we'll call my dad. I called him on the phone. I said sir I would like to show up to work. I want to be a farmer. How much do you pay? And he said yep, no problem. You can come in the morning. I said what time he said 6 a.m I said dear God, I don't know if I want to be a farmer, but how much do you pay? This is in the late 90s. He said I pay five bucks an hour Now the most money I had ever had at one point in time was $20 Because my granny had given me that I would just spend it, you know And this guy said yep, it's five bucks an hour show up tomorrow because tomorrow is hay baling day. I Don't know if you ever bailed hay before but he said I got there and he was like you ain't got no gloves What I need gloves for He said you don't know nothing about farming. Do you get here's some gloves? He said you got a you got a flannel shirt something long-sleeved so you don't get stuck. No, I don't have that It's hot out here. Don't matter put that on you got some boots. I don't have no boots, sir. I'm an athlete He said here you go you got some boots, all right, we're gonna work and so we started working and first hour I was very grateful. I said, this is amazing. I've done a whole hour I've got $5 and we did a second hour. I was like, this is incredible. I've got $10 I'm counting up my money before I even get it. I'm like, this is awesome then we got into the heat of the day and it started to get harder and Harder and I started to notice as I would look around that the farmer's son never got off the tractor And I thought you know what that's messed up. How does he get to drive the tractor? I bet he's making more money than me, too I've never driven a tractor in my life, but that's beside the fact because this situation was obviously extremely unfair We got to the end of the day, you know, we stopped for a little bit had some bologna sandwiches Cuz that's what you do in, Kentucky You're all like that's disgusting whatever man shout out bologna, it's amazing It's amazing I don't care what you think

At the end of the day he said alright boys come up here we got we got checks we're gonna write checks I worked for nine hours on the farm that day and he wrote me a check for 45 bucks 45 bucks I was man. I felt like Richie Rich. I was like this $45 I'm so excited. I told my mom take me to the bank immediately. I want to cash my first paycheck I got home. We ate dinner. I said dad Can you take me to Walmart so we went over to the Walmart and I'll never forget I bought a video game It was a NASCAR video game. I got home threw that in In the dream cast and I told my dad call the farmer cuz I quit It's over I'm done I'm tapping out Despite having more than enough the longer that I worked the more entitled That I became and you know what? I told my daddy said you're quitting. I said, yeah, I'm quitting I said I'm worth more than five bucks an hour Should have seen me out there bailing that. Hey, I went from being grateful just to be in the vineyard After nine hours, I went to entitled that I just knew the farmer was abusing me You let your son drive the tractor I never got to drive the tractor I got this brand new video game Thank God, but I only got paid 45 bucks 45 bucks for what I did That's not right. I quit That's not fair Initially it was as simple as having my needs met But the longer that I was there what I noticed was the more that I wanted and I think that our life in God can Be very similar But I want to remind you that God does not promise to supply everything that you believe that you're entitled to God promises to supply your every need and That's what Philippians 419 says and my God will supply Every need so I want to encourage you today church Keep a thankful heart in the kingdom in the way that Jesus spoke to his disciples in Luke 17 So you then also when you've done all that you were commanded. This is what you should say. We are unworthy Servants we have only done what was our duty? Do you have what you need today I Believe you probably do but if you don't you can talk to one of any any of us here

We're gonna have a prayer line up here in a moment. If you don't have what you need, please come up and tell us Because we're gonna help you We'll help you today. We'll help you if you don't have what you need. I want you to know that But for most of us, I'm sure do you have what you need? I bet you do you may not have everything that you want, but I bet you've got everything that you need So, why are we complaining about what we used to pray about God do this in my life. He's done it and now we complain about it God. I'm believing for breakthrough You received it, but now we're complaining about the burden of carrying out the breakthrough when trust for the father gets replaced by entitlement to reward then Competition in comparison or should have become the lens that you look at all of life through That's not fair that's that's not fair that's not fair God, that's not fair God, you know what we say That's not fair because it sounds so much better than I don't trust you But really deep down and this is what I believe that God brought us here to do business today with is a heart of a child of God who is good and kind and forgiving and merciful and graceful That deep down on the inside if we were to get honest this morning we'd say I don't really trust God That's not fair God that's just a that's just a different phrase For I don't trust you And let me give you the second point God's not fair, but your father knows What's right? He knows what's right He knows what's right And that's why I said in verse 4 of you Matthew 20 here He said and to them he said go into the vineyards too, and whatever is right Whatever is right. Don't worry. I'll take care of you. I got you This is what the kingdom is like and then whenever the master says line everybody up who has worked for me line everybody up Who's been in the vineyard he goes and gets the guy that's been there since 5 p.m I told you guys that I had a lot of experience farming. I know what quitting time is 6 p.m.. You're done. You know sunset He says yeah get the guy that's been here just for the last 45 minutes

This brother hasn't even broken a sweat get him up at the front of the line Let's give him his paycheck first, and then we'll pay everybody else the same thing This is not about what? Everything that they wanted it is about what they needed and at the end of the day regardless of when you've shown up Regardless in what corner you're working working in regardless of what you do for a living regardless of whether you're in ministry or not regardless if you're vocational and you get a paycheck for it regardless if you Volunteer you serve and you do it once a month or ten times a month regardless of your position And how long you've been in the room? At the end of the day we all get the same reward Which ultimately and infinitely is just the master It's just Jesus it's heaven it's him What are we serving unto is it is it reward and when we don't get what we want we get entitled What are we serving unto? So that we can have more than the person sitting next to us so that we can somehow prove to ourselves that we're worthy of love What is it unto Ultimately it all it all pays the same because it pays in love from the master and This church is what the kingdom is like I want to create some space here because maybe there's been a few folks that you thought Man, God's really not fair and today's just kind of a rewiring a little bit where you're like, yeah, okay, maybe he's not But he's generous it's better than fair It's better than fair It's so much better than fair. It's generous. It's so much better than fair It's forgiving a fair God is a manageable God a fair God is a predictable God but a generous God is unpredictable a generous God will be blessing people that you don't like a Generous God will be forgiving people that you didn't vote like a good God a kind God a merciful God will be the God that shows up and hangs out with the last people that you think he should but that is what the God of the kingdom is like because the kingdom is welcome to everybody and

That's why I went to the cross if God was fair. He would keep score, but God's generous. So he burns the scorecard And if you're in here today thinking like I would approach God but man I got too many I got too many accusations man I got too many things stacked against me. Can I let you know that right here right now today? You can be forgiven all of that And get the same pay as me and the person behind you and the person in the back the person in the front It's just it's the master So just take a moment bow your head close your eyes if you don't mind And if if you've been suggesting that God is Sinning somehow because he's not done what you've wanted I'd encourage you to repent of that Let it go Lord, I pray today in Jesus name that you go to work on our hearts Father, I pray today that you would download a kingdom paradigm into our minds I pray that you would help us to to learn and to grow and to understand in this kingdom way of life This is a greater way to be human Not striving competing and comparing for value or worth or to feel we're better than anybody else so that we've achieved more than somebody else because We're trying to fight to prove our worth Jesus we thank you that our worth is not in what we've done Right. It's not in what we've done wrong, but it's in you And you've done all things right you do all things.
