Generational Curses & Legal Rights: Closing the Open Doors

What's up family and welcome to video number five, Generational Curses, Legal Rights, Closing the Open Doors. So welcome back and I wanna start with a question. Have you ever looked at your family and noticed a pattern? Divorce in every generation, addiction passed from the father to the son, premature death, poverty that seems to follow a bloodline no matter how hard anyone works, depression that runs through the woman, anger that runs through the men, and you wonder, is this genetic or is it something else? The Bible has an answer. It's found in Exodus 20, verse five. You shall not bow down to them nor serve them for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God visiting the iniquities, the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me. Now, we need to be precise with this text because it has been both abused and ignored. The word visiting in the Hebrew is the word pakad, which means to attend, to appoint, to visit with consequences, and the word iniquity is the word in the Hebrew avon, which is different from the word for sin. Again, this Hebrew word is different from the word for sin. Chata in the Hebrew is sin, and that means missing the mark. Avon is the word iniquity,

and the bent, it means the bent, the crookedness, the distortion that sin produces. Iniquity is not just the act. It is the nature behind the act. It is the internal twist that makes a person predisposed toward a particular sin. So what this verse is saying is that when a person sins, particularly in the context of idolatry and covenant breaking, the avon, the bent, the predisposition can be passed through the bloodline. It is not that God is punishing innocent children for their parents' sin. It is that the spiritual consequences of unrepented sin creates a legal opening that the enemy exploits generationally. Think about it as spiritual DNA. Just as physical traits are passed through genetics, spiritual predispositions can be passed through bloodlines. A man who practiced witchcraft opens the door to the demonic. If that door is never closed through repentance and renunciation, again, if that door is never closed through repentance and renunciation, the spirit that was given access does not leave when the man dies. It looks for the next generation. It already has legal right. It was invited.

Now, some of you pushed back on this concept and point to Ezekiel 18, 20. The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wicked of the wickedness shall be upon himself. And the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself. This verse is not contradicting Exodus 20. It is establishing personal accountability. You will not be judged for your father's sin. That is the point of Ezekiel 18. But you can be affected, listen to this, affected by the spiritual consequences your father's sin left in its wake. Again, you could be affected by the spiritual consequences of your father's sin left in its wake. Being affected and being held accountable are two different things. A child born into an alcoholic home is not guilty of alcoholism, but that child grows up in an environment shaped by it. And statistically and spiritually, they are more susceptible to the same pattern. That is avun, the generational bent. Here's the good news, Galatians 3.13. Come on, Jesus. Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. For it is written,

cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree. Christ has redeemed us from the curse. The price has been paid. The legal basis for generational bondage has been broken at the cross. And this is where many believers miss it. The provision must be applied. Salvation provided everything, but not everything is automatically enforced. Catch this. Salvation provided everything, but not everything is automatically enforced. If it were, every believer would be instantly delivered, healed, and walking in total victory the moment they got saved. We know that this is not the case. The cross is the legal payment. By the blood of Jesus, application is your responsibility through faith, repentance, and spiritual warfare. Let me explain it in this way. Imagine a court case. The judge has ruled in your favor. The verdict says you are free, but the person, look at this, but the prison guard has not gotten the memo. So again, the judge said you're freed, but the prison guard hasn't got the memo. He is still locking the door every night. The verdict is settled in heaven,

in the courtroom of heaven, but it has not been enforced in your cell. Deliverance is the enforcement of a verdict that has already been enforced. already been won on Calvary. So how do you close generational doors? Let me give you the process. First, identification. You look at the patterns in your family line. What keeps repeating? What are the common struggles? The premature deaths, the reoccurring sins, the chronic conditions. Write them down, be honest. You are not dishonoring your family by naming the patterns. You are breaking them. Second, repentance on behalf of the bloodline. This is how you, the word is like, it's identifictational repentance. It's like identifying the repentance. Not just repenting like I repent of everything, but knowing what you need to repent of. Nehemiah modeled this in Nehemiah 1.6. Please let your ear be attentive and your eyes be open, that you may hear the prayer of your servant, which I pray before you now, day and night for the children of Israel, your servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against you, both my father's house and I have sinned.

Nehemiah 1.6. Nehemiah confessed sins he did not personally commit. He identified with the sins of his fathers, brought them before God, and you stand in the gap for your bloodline. You confess the idolatry. You confess the witchcraft. You confess the sexual sin. You confess the covenant breaking and whatever patterns have been identified, and you repent on behalf of the family line. Third is renunciation. You verbally renounce every agreement your bloodline made with the enemy. You renounce every altar that was built, every vow that was spoken, every dedication that was made. You break those agreements in the name of Jesus. And fourth, application of the blood. Revelation 12.11 says, they overcame him by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony. You apply the blood of Jesus to your bloodline. You declare that the blood speaks better things than that of Abel. Hebrews 12.24. The blood cancels every legal claim. And fifth, commanding the spirits to leave. Once the legal ground is removed, the spirits have no right to stay.

You command them to go in the name of Jesus. Without legal ground, they must obey. This is how generational chains are broken. Not by ignoring them, not by hoping they go away, but by identifying the pattern, repenting for the bloodline, renouncing the agreements, applying the blood, and evicting the spirits that had legal access. Your family tree does not determine your destiny. The blood of Jesus rewrites your lineage. You are no longer defined by what was passed down. You are defined by what was poured out on Calvary.
