Coming to Life: Genesis
If you really want to understand the Bible, you have to start with Genesis.
Everything begins here.
This is where we see creation, where sin first enters the world, and where God begins unfolding His plan to redeem what was broken. It’s the foundation for everything that comes after—our understanding of God, our understanding of ourselves, and even the idea of family, purpose, and relationship.
Genesis walks through the very beginning of it all. You see God create the world with intention, and then you see how quickly things unravel. But even in that, you also see something incredible—God doesn’t walk away.
Instead, He begins to make promises.
Through people like Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, God starts building a story that is much bigger than just one generation. It’s a story that keeps moving forward, even through failure, doubt, and imperfect people.
By the end of Genesis, we see Joseph and how God uses even the hardest circumstances to position His people exactly where they need to be. What looks like a setback is actually part of a bigger plan, setting the stage for everything that will happen next in Exodus.
As you read Genesis, you start to see who God really is. You see His power, His justice, His mercy, and His grace. You see that He takes sin seriously, but you also see that He never stops pursuing people.
And that’s what matters for you.
Because this isn’t just about what God did then—it’s about what He’s still doing now.
The same God who made promises in Genesis is still working, still restoring, and still inviting people into a relationship with Him.
So, as you read, don’t just look at the events.
Start asking yourself: what does this show me about God… and what does that mean for my life?
