Christine Caine - Tomorrow Never Comes

- Good morning, Church By The Glades! Y'all, happy Sunday. Let's give it up on my husband. Y'all can be seated. I'm gonna try not to choke up here today. Oh, there's many things I've done in my 40 years of preaching. Coming in on a Harley-Davidson motorbike is the first on a Sunday morning. You know, I am so thrilled to be here. You are my church family here in Fort Lauderdale. You know, I've been coming since 2010, so before some of you were alive. And the fact is, you know, the first couple of times you come, you are a visitor. But by the time you've been coming 17 years, I am now your just cray-cray-ozzy aunt. That's what I am, so just part of the family. And I'm continuing on in our series, I have loved this series. I've been watching us on YouTube over the last few weeks when Pastor David kicked us off out of Zechariah chapter four. And I hope you're remembering our anchor verse in verse 10 when he said that we are to despise not the days of small beginnings. And I love the fact that the whole series is founded on that because the truth is that nothing ever starts where it ends up, it always starts at the start. And that's at the beginning,

and beginnings are always small. And I've loved going through all of our different big brands and just seeing how they all started small and became global, iconic brands. And of course, we started with Apple. And, you know, the fact is that my daughter just got an Apple Aura ring and apparently those rings, is that an Apple? Yes, Katherine's going, it's not Apple. So there you go, take that away. That's how much I know. The Apple watches the thing that tells you how you said, that's the first thing. And, you know, I was like, get thee behind me, Satan, because those things tell you, you did not sleep optimum. I'm like, get thee behind me, Satan. You are not going to tell me how I went. And then this Apple watch, but anyway, we thank God for the multi-billion-billion-billion-billion-dollar company, but where did it start? In a small shed. It just made me laugh, and then we kept going on. I really, really loved when Pastor David confessed to us his adult obsession with Disney. I thought I couldn't even believe that he actually, you know, just came out and said, this is what I really love. And so, you know, you've got Disney Orlando here. I live on West Coast, the best coast. And so we had, oh no, okay. This is, I knew that was not going to fly

on a Sunday morning, okay? Who's got the better Disney park, us or you? Okay, that's it. I know where I am, don't worry, okay? And so, then we went on and, you know, Pastor Nick, a preacher powerful sermon out of Gideon on Nike that the power is in the name, which was awesome. And I've got to say, last week I learned so much from Pastor Charlie, because as you can tell, as a 60-year-old woman that, you know, listening to kind of rap hasn't been what I've been doing down in Australia. And so when I learned that our cast started in a dungeon, I went right and that is why I'd never heard of them. And so again, the most iconic biggest band starts in a dungeon. And so today, probably my husband's been listening to me preach for 30 years. And I would say this is probably going to be his favorite sermon in the history of my sermons, because my husband, like so many people on the earth, is obsessed with Harley Davidson's. From when we were in Australia, I think he watched like Terminator 2, and in honor of Arnie, we got a fat boy. So, I'm just saying, so we had a fat boy, then we moved to America, and he got a sportster, because we live in California,

and he wanted to navigate LA traffic, because my daughter went to school a couple of hours away, and he wanted to get through those freeways. So we got a sportster, and then just a couple of months ago, he rode from Virginia Beach to LA. I know, on a Pan America bike, so he's been living his best life, and when it was like, honey, do you want to help me with a sermon, and you get to ride a Harley into church, he was like, it is the will of God in Christ Jesus, that you say yes, that you say yes to this invitation from Pastor David to continue the series. You've got to ask yourself a question. How do a couple of guys, from the back of Milwaukee in Wisconsin, create a brand that is so iconic to this day, the most iconic cruiser bikes, Harley-Davidson, this American icon, it's all about American, I mean, my husband sleeps in the tea, I mean, it is our cultish community. I mean, if you are part of the Holly Davidson community, it is huge. How did they build it at its peak to a $90 billion brand? How did that even happen? Well, like everything else we've been talking about in this series, it all started in a backyard 10 by 15 foot shed. You just go, this whole iconic brand started and of course there were two childhood friends and guess what their names were?

Harley and? Wow, we're doing great today. That's in the book of Harley, chapter three, verse five. You've got all of that. And so there's William Harley, Arthur Davidson. They started, obviously, they became, they were friends and obsessed with bikes as kids. And so at 15, Harley goes to a work in a bike shop and I want you to understand this. Way before even the shed, he had a passion. And when you've got a passion and when you've got a dream, he didn't wait till he got older because he understood that you're never too young for day one, that somewhere along the line, you can start when you are young and at 15, he started pursuing his passion by going and getting experience and working in a bike shop and he and his friend, they became great, great buddies and they had a dream that we would start a motorized bicycle. Now that was a big deal at that time. And in 1901, so still he's just 20 years old. He builds this blueprint of an engine on a bike and that was kind of where the whole thing, just on a push bike, this rudimentary engine. And so they were doing this in the basement and then Mr. Davidson, like Singer, he had three sons, eventually all of them, became part of the company. He said, you've got to get out of the basement because you're making too much noise and that's when they built this shed, 10 by 15.

That's where it all started. He said, go into the backyard, build a shed. So the first bike that they made was sold out of that shed and then for the next several years, they were selling it out of there but they were not having a whole lot of success because the bikes that they made, they couldn't go up the kind of Milwaukee Hills, so there was slightly problematic. And they had to develop a method of going from motorized bicycles to actually building motorbikes. And that didn't happen overnight, but the fact was they never ever thought, I'm gonna stop doing this until there's better technology or I'm gonna stop innovating until we have more resources. I'm gonna stop innovating until they never said that. They just saw every failure or every setback as an opportunity to learn. And they said, well, we know now that's not how to do it and this is where we're gonna have to improve. And in 1904, Harley actually went and enrolled in Wisconsin University to get a mechanical engineering degree because he understood I need more knowledge. Now, he didn't stop pursuing his dream. He would work every other hour outside of college in that shed and they would keep trying to develop it. Now, the thing is, a lot of us think when I get the degree or when I get, no, he didn't go when. It's like, I'm gonna work around the clock

because pursuing my dream takes a lot of passion. It takes all of my time. There's not kind of the dream time and then every other time, every waking moment was committed to fulfilling this dream. So they kept tinkering and eventually in 1907, they incorporated the Harley-Davidson motorcycle company that we all know of today. And then, of course, in 1911, they developed that V-Rod that you saw on the back. And that, you know, in 1994, they tried to trademark that sound that my husband loves so much that I nearly choked on right here. And so that sound, but, you know, because of just competition, it was six years in court, they couldn't trademark it. But that V-Rod is what really the rest is history that we know of today as the Harley-Davidson. Motorcycle Club, but the thing that got me as I was studying through the history is that they took advantage. Harley and Davidson, they took advantage, I have to laugh 'cause there's three Davidson brothers but somehow Harley got his name up the front there. That's very good business sense. And so the fact is that as they continued to do that, they never said we're going to wait until one day when. One day when we're older, one day when we're more resourced, one day when there's the technology is there, they were saying, well, you know what,

we've only got today. And they did not wait until tomorrow. And that's really what I have discovered as a 60 year old woman. one is tomorrow. Is this concept that we think tomorrow? A lot of us never step into day one and we live in one day because we're always thinking tomorrow and that would cross over into any sphere of life. We always think I'm going to start to get fit when? Tomorrow. I'm going to go on that, you know, health kick tomorrow. I'm going to sign up for that course tomorrow. I'm going to start, you know, getting knowledge in a certain area tomorrow. I'm going to start working on my marriage challenges tomorrow. I'm going to work on that addiction tomorrow. The only problem is when we wake up tomorrow, guess what day it is? Today. Because that's the only day we ever have, this side of eternity. So the fact is this side of eternity, every tomorrow is simply a today. And unless you make today one day, you are never going to step into your God given purpose. And the fact is you don't go, we have this day one today and then it stops tomorrow. Tomorrow when we wake up and it's today, it's day one again today, it's day one again today. You only ever have this day. My prayer for us as a part of this series is that we just don't hear a bunch of inspiring sermons on our massive global brands, all started in a shed or started in a dungeon or started small. But that we understand in our own lives, God has placed His purpose inside every single one of us. Ephesians 2.10 says that you and I are God's workmanship and we've been recreated in Christ

Jesus. I want you to hear this. For good works that God prepared where beforehand in eternity that we should walk them out here on earth. And yet so few Christians truly step into their God given purpose and their God given destiny because they keep thinking, you know what, tomorrow when I become more accomplished, tomorrow when I finally deal with that issue, tomorrow when I get out. And then what happens is we keep waking up tomorrow and tomorrow keeps becoming today. And so we live in one day when instead of saying today is day one when I'm going to step into my God given purpose and my God given destiny. You only ever have where you are. And if you don't start there, you're never going to start. I want you to turn with me today to the book of Exodus, chapter 8, and we're going to read from verses 1 to 15 and we're going to see how in the Bible, and we've seen it every week through Scripture how this principle plays out. And I'm telling you, the older I get and the longer I follow Jesus, and I'm coming close to my fourth decade of being a follower of Jesus by the grace of God. I am increasingly convinced that fulfilling your purpose has a whole lot less to do with gift, talent, ability. It's got a whole lot more to do with are you willing to step into day one? And a lot of us are just not willing. The only reason I'm standing here today is because somewhere along the line I decided today is the only day that I've got. So we're going to see in Exodus chapter 8. This is the word of the Lord. It says, "Then the Lord said to Moses, go into Pharaoh and tell him. This is what the Lord says. Let my people go so that they may worship me. But if you refuse to let them go, then I will plague your territory with frogs." How many are glad they came to church by the glades this morning?

It's like, "Okay, okay." This is, and now you should know about frogs in this church because when I walked outside last night after church, it was like a sign from God. There was a frog right there, and I thought, "Not only do you have iguanas and alligators, you've got frogs." And then people wonder why I don't live in Southern Florida, but anyway, so the Nile will swarm with frogs. They will come up and go into your palace, into your bedroom, and on your bed, that just the mind boggles with what that would be like, into the houses of your officials and your people, and into your ovens and kneading bowls. I love that, because I thought if they were in my ovens, I would never know, because I don't open it, but that's okay. So the frogs will come up on you, your people and all your officials. Then the Lord said to Moses, "Tell Aaron, stretch out your hand with your staff over the rivers, canals, and ponds, and cause the frogs to come up to the land of Egypt." When Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt. Because the magicians did the same thing by their occult practices, there's a whole sermon in there. Don't ever get surprised when occultic practices can mimic things of the Spirit in God, but it goes on. And he says, "Farah summoned Moses and Aaron and said, 'Appeal to the Lord, to remove the frogs from me and my people.'" And so Moses said to Farri, "You may have the honor of choosing. When should I appeal on behalf of you, your officials, and your people, that the frogs be taken away from you and your houses, and remain only in the Nile?" "Tomorrow," he answered. Moses replied, "As you have said, so that you may know there is no one like the Lord our God. The frogs will go away from you, your houses, your officials, and your people.

The frogs will remain only in the Nile." It goes on. In the next verse, I'm thinking it's going to come up, I probably stopped that. It goes on, and he says in the Scripture that basically they packed up all of the frogs and the land, and I love it. You've got to read this. This is when the Old King James Bible is never surpassed, it says, "And the land stanketh." And so there is just something about the stanketh in the landeth. When I learned this, it was like imagine. I would imagine that if there had been a plague of frogs that finally had died, the landeth would stinketh, and I believe that that would be what would happen. And so what happened is that, let me give you a little bit of context because you're probably wondering, especially if this is your first time in church, what are we doing? And there is a Holly Davidson, and now we're talking about frogs, and we're talking about plagues. And you have to understand at this time the children of Israel were in slavery in captivity in Egypt for 430 years. Now my husband and I rescue the victims of human trafficking all around the world. So I have sat across tables, but what I want to say is I have sat across tables over the last 20 years with numerous survivors of human trafficking, and all I can tell you is slavery is so dehumanizing. It is so debilitating, so you can only imagine what it would have been like for them to have been in forced labor, and we just had two weeks ago, 57 men rescued in Europe from forced labor slavery. So what I'm telling you is it still happens today. So they were making bricks, they were working in brutal sun, and they were being whipped and beaten, and so imagine the trauma of what they were going through. And so they've been crying out to God to set them free, and so what the Lord did was he sent a series of plagues. So when you know the context, it doesn't sound as bizarre as it might sound if you don't

understand context. And the goal was to soften Pharaoh's heart so that he would let the people go. So one of these 10 plagues is what we're talking about today, and that is the plague of frogs. I always laugh at people that say that the Bible is boring. I'm like, you obviously don't read it. And so you're just like, okay, who only God would come up with like frogs, I'm telling you, that would have me repenting on my face immediately. I saw one frog outside this church last night, and I was like, Lord, forgive me for I've sinned. And so over here, but Pharaoh, Pharaoh needed a whole plague, and so the plague and the frogs were everywhere. I mean, we read that. I mean, by the time they're getting on the bed, they're getting in the palace, they're getting in the ovens and on the kneading bowls, and it's like here a frog there, a frog everywhere, a frog frog, there were frogs everywhere. And so I'm imagining that Mrs. Pharaoh was probably very ticked off, that they were frogs everywhere, and she was probably complaining to her husband. And so then he finally goes, okay, the only thing worse than a plague of frogs is like a wife nagging about frogs. And so he goes into Moses and he says, all right, all right, I'm going to tap out. You win. I just want you, I'll do whatever you want to do. I will let these people go. They can worship your God, just tell your God to get rid of these frogs. Just tell him to cleanse Egypt from the frogs. So Moses, he's happy now, he's saying this is awesome. God can get rid of these frogs. Obviously he's got the power to do that. God is so willing to get rid of these frogs.

So Pharaoh, you tell me, when would you like me to tell God to stop the plague of frogs? So here we are, we're in a situation where God is well able to stop the plague. God is more than willing to stop the plague. And now it's up to Pharaoh to say, when would you like these frogs to go? And then to me, one of the strangest verses in the entire Bible is right there in Exodus chapter 8, verse 10, and it says, then Pharaoh said, tomorrow, I need you to understand this. God's willing to get rid of them. God's able to get rid of them. You've got to ask yourself the question, what would entail, what would, why would someone like Pharaoh want to spend one more night with those frogs? Why is it that made him think tomorrow? But my question here this morning, a church by the Glades, is not why did Pharaoh want What are the frogs that are in you, on you, and around you that you are willing to tolerate one more night when God is willing to get rid of them, when God is able to get rid of them, when God can deliver you from them, but your answer is tomorrow. Tomorrow. God says, I can set you free today. But why would you want to spend one more night with that frog of addiction? Why would you want to spend one more night with that frog of insecurity or that frog of shame or that frog of guilt or that frog of condemnation or that frog of lust or that frog of greed? What would make you want to spend one more night with that frog? But we do that as believers. Some of us have been coming to church for decades.

We've been sitting under sound teaching week after week after week. We're singing worship songs week after week after week. And we listen, and our hearts truly do love God. And we take notes, and we're going through the series, and we're listening, but by the time we've walked out of those exit doors at the end of the service, we think Pastor David was right, and I need to change that, and I'm going to do it tomorrow. I do know I need to start reading my Bible more because I want to be closer to Jesus, and I'm going to start, but I'm going to start tomorrow. I don't need, I know I need to start tithing because I want to see God bless me through my phone. And I'm going to start tithing, but I'm going to start tomorrow. I know I need to break up that relationship and stop sleeping with that person that's not my spouse, and I know God's got better for me, and I'm going to stop doing it. I'm just going to stop doing it tomorrow. I know I need to get water baptized, and I know that it's been on my mind, and I've been thinking about it, and I'm going to do it, and I know we've got baptisms tonight, but I'll do it tomorrow. And then we get to the end of our life with really good intentions, but never having stepped into the purpose that God has for us because we keep putting off what we know we should do today until tomorrow.

The only problem is we wake up tomorrow, and it's today. And so we continue the narrative in our head because tomorrow it's today, and so we go, it's today, so I'll do it tomorrow. And the enemy has got us in a loop cycle for our whole life. And so we never get round to the Bible reading we want to do, or the prayer that we want to do, or the fasting that we want to do, or dealing with our addictions, or dealing with our issues, or asking the, and so it's not even that we have a bad intent. We just don't say today is going to be day one, because there is no tomorrow. And I'm telling you the difference of fulfilling your purpose or not is that simple. I'm not saying it's easy, but it's not complicated, is what I mean by not simple. And the only difference is, and I'll tell you out of my own life how I did that, is like I could have, you know, the things that the Lord has me doing today, it's not that I suddenly became more anointed, or suddenly became more gifted, or suddenly became more talented. But many of you know my story that I came from a background where I was left in a hospital unnamed and unwanted, and you know the victim of childhood sexual abuse for many, many years, so with that came so much insecurity, so much shame, so much anger,

so much bitterness, so much brokenness, that's what comes with that level of trauma for so long. So I spent a lot of years basically living in yesterday, going if that hadn't happened to me, then maybe God could use me. If I hadn't made those mistakes, then maybe God could use me. If I was more gifted, if I was more talented, and then I would sit in services like this, and I'd sit in the back and think, "I wish, or maybe I could, "but man, they don't have my story." If they only knew that there's no way, there's no way that God could use someone like me, I'm like, "Use goods, what could God do?" And then one day as I was sitting in the back, I decided that this is gonna be day one, I'm gonna just actually believe what they said. I'm actually gonna believe that Jesus forgave me, Jesus redeemed me, Jesus restored me. There was no silver bullet, there was no magic potion. I just made a decision to go from one day, maybe God, to this is gonna be day one, that I'm just gonna start to apply this stuff. And I made a decision that I was gonna stop building the narrative of my life around what happened to me. And you know, the abusers had already taken more than a decade of my life, but every day that I lived in that past, I was giving them more and more of the time of my life.

And it was like at some point, I had to say today, I'm gonna stop giving them power because they tossed all some of my yesterday. And I'm gonna make what Jesus did, I'm gonna make what Jesus did for me at Calvary, the defining moment of my life. And this is gonna be day one, where I'm no longer gonna be defined by what they did to me, but by what Jesus did for me. When you make that shift, everything changes. It doesn't matter what people say, because you know what Jesus did. And his blood has the final word, not what anybody else did to my life. It's the blood of Jesus that defines that. So I stepped into, now how do I not step into that day one? And go, I'm not going to be defined by abuse and abandonment and adoption and rejection and shame and guilt, but I'm gonna be defined by the redemptive power of the blood of Jesus Christ and the power of his word. I made that day one, well who knew that day one would lead to volunteering in church and from volunteering in church, not from a platform, but at a church clean-up day and serving at a youth center and driving 14 year olds to youth, well was there stadiums in my future? Yes, but had I not picked up four 14 year olds to drive them to youth, I wouldn't be standing here today. I could tell you that much, it just would not have happened. There would be no correlation.

And then I was standing, I was 40 years old. And so this is why every day is day one. 'Cause imagine if I thought, well you know, once I became a youth evangelist and traveling around Australia and speaking in conferences and speaking in stadiums, if I thought that was it, some of you in your 30s, 40s, 50s, do you think, well, you know, I'm doing my thing because I got a lot of Instagram followers. And somehow that's all that God's got. But at 40, when I've already got a global ministry and Nick and I are traveling and planning churches, there was, you know, standing at a carousel in Thessaloniki, Greece, I was going to speak at a women's conference. I had just had my first born, was four. She's sitting there in the front row. My second one was just born severe. And so I was in Thessaloniki and, you know, from Australia to Thessaloniki is over 40 hours. I was like jet-lagged. I was, I had just popped out another kid at 40. Listen, when you pop out a kid at 40, you are not asking the Lord for a new ministry. I am like, here I am, Lord, send everybody else. I'm going to Mykonos for a vacation, you know. So I'm there and I was at the carousel at sort of these posters of these missing women and children. And as I looked in, one of the little girl's faces, it just caught my eye and I looked at her and then that little girl that was missing,

because I read Greek, I could read it, it said her name was Sophia. And I've got my little Sophia that I've just given birth to. And I would tell everyone this is where the seed of A21 started, because I went from looking at someone else's missing child to seeing my own daughter. And, you know, when you look, you can look away. But when you see, you could never, ever unsee. And at then I was in a moment going, "God, what could I knew nothing about human trafficking?" I didn't have $10 million to run a human trafficking organization. I knew nothing about Russian and Albanian mafia, like except that they kill people. And I was like, "I knew nothing about what would be needed. "My degree was in English and economic history, "so I could have had all the excuses "that we all have for not stepping into day one. "God, I just had another baby. "God, I live it as straight. "God, I'm just too old to do anything like this. "God, I'm not educated in this. "God, I have no knowledge of this. "God, I have no resources." And I gave him all those excuses. But the fact is that I had a decision to make it 40. Am I going to step into another day one? Because it's not about what I don't have. It's about who God is and what he has and what he wants to do in and through our lives. It's not about that.

So day one never stops. And every day you've got to make a decision. Am I going to step into what God has? And what did I have then? I had no knowledge, but I had a mouth. So that's how I started by just talking about a world today by the grace of God. We have almost 20 years later. We have offices in 10 countries around the world. We have seen more than 8,000 men, women and children that we've represented legally that have been rescued and come out of human trafficking. We put hundreds of traffickers in jail, had over 8 billion impressions with all of our Can You See Me campaign. All I'm saying to you is how did I start with what I had? What did I have, a mouth? 20 years later, that has now become one of the largest anti-trafficking organizations in the world, but I started where I was. I stepped into it today. So what do you keep saying tomorrow? I mean, I could go on. I'm 60 next week. I'm telling you, 'cause I love presents. And so, you know, some of the things I started there, I didn't even start propelled 'til I was 45. I'm about to launch something else at 60. I'm trying to inspire you all day one never ends, but you've just got to be willing

to continue to step into it. And it's always small and you're never resourced enough and you're never talented enough and you're never gifted enough because day one's got a lot less to do with your and my ability, and it's got everything to do with trusting God. Because faith is predicated on trust, not understanding. And most of us don't step into day one because we're trying to understand all the pieces and God says, "Will you just trust me?" And the fact is when you're willing to do that, you change it not just for yourself but for the generations. You know, if I didn't step into my day one, there would be no 821. I wouldn't, by the grace of God, I'd have the marriage 30 years later that I have and I'd be making or I'd be so dysfunctional. Nick would be paying for something that other men did to me. I wouldn't be the mother that I would to my daughters because they'd be paying for the fact that I wasn't mother'd right because I chose not to step into day one. This is the power of stepping into day one. Let alone there wouldn't be all the other things we do around the world, but we made a decision. You know, my husband's from an English Irish background. And so they're a little bit stoic. And I'm Greek in case you didn't notice, I'm very demonstrative,

which is why Southern Floridians love me because we're all passionate and crazy together. And so we all have that. But Nick is very, you know, if I go, "Nick, are you excited?" He's like, "Yes, my big toe's moving in my shoe." And so I went and I was speaking in England. Now I'm an English major, so believe it or not, my major is in Shakespeare. So Shakespeare wrote all his plays and he did his poems in a house that's in Stratford-upon-Avon in England. And I was speaking very close to Stratford-upon-Avon. And so when I went over there, I thought, "I'm gonna go and visit Willy," but, you know, I went to his house, but he's dead, so he wasn't there. But it was really awesome going. And so then I crossed the road. There was a genealogy shop. And I thought, "Maybe Nick," at the time I was watching "Downton Abbey," I don't know if you were into that. But I was so into it. And I thought, "Nick might have an estate in England." And maybe, you know, he's related to King Charles, and I might get an invitation to the wedding. I thought this could be awesome. Maybe he's been hiding this from me. So I go into this, there's a genealogy shop with all the crests, these British crests.

And I thought, "Okay, I'm gonna find the cane crest, "and I'm gonna find the cane lineage. "And in the cane lineage, "there's gonna be knights and lords and barons, "and we're gonna have this big castle in England. "And I'm gonna be King Charles's bestie." And so I had it all worked out. So I go in there and I put in the name cane. Now, I kid you not. It spat out Nick's heritage. And this is what it had. Convicts, pirates, criminals, murderers, thieves. And I thought, "Gee, I've married into a good bloodline, "have an eye, this is good stuff." And I started laughing because that will always be Nick's family tree. That's how they got to Australia. They put them on convict ships and sent them to Australia for free. And so over here, I started thinking about my family tree. And over on my family tree, there is abuse and there is abandonment, and there is addiction, and there is divorce, and there is incest, and there is all the things that make you cringe. I'll never be able to change that right there. But because we chose day one, you know, when my kids look at that family tree, they can't change Nick's background or mine. That's there.

But then they're gonna have a look on the 30th of March, 1996. Nicholas Joseph Kane, Mary's Holy Ghost terrorist, Christine Kane. And that day, we said, "This is day one."
