You Don’t Have to Have It All Together | Mornings with Mico

Good people, what's going on with you, man, how we doing today? My name is Meeko, and welcome to my one-on-one time with God. I just want to dive right in. I was having a conversation with a friend of mine, it was in our group chat, and he was just sharing with us just more or less just a conversation that he was having with his dad. He was talking to his dad about just some challenges that he was facing in work, and just the pressure that he was dealing with. This friend of mine, he's a very young leader, a very young, high-capacity leader, like early 30s. And to give some context, he works for a very large corporation, about 60,000 employees, and he is within the top 250 of those employees. As you can imagine, definitely this role, it comes with just a lot of pressure, a lot of challenges. As he was sharing this with his dad, just whatever he was dealing with at the time, his dad posed a question. He said, how would you approach a challenge if you could physically see the God of the universe right beside you? I'll read it again. How would you approach a challenge if you could physically see the God of the universe right behind you, right beside you? And this is one of those questions that it really challenges your faith, right? It really challenges you to dig in, to dig your heels in, and double down with your faith. It challenges your perspective of God, the God of the universe. What challenge is comparable to the God of the universe, right? It challenges you to really lean into that perspective or to help reshape your perspective of God. But I know as I've been processing this question, I had ran across a verse in my daily reading in the book of Exodus. I'll kind of catch you up.

In Exodus, at this part of the story, the Israelites, they're still captives in Egypt. And they're crying out to God, asking God to rescue them from Egypt. Pharaoh is keeping them captive there and he's not letting them go. And so God reaches out to Moses and he's telling Moses to go to Egypt and talk to the Pharaoh and get the captives set free. And so this is where we pick up within this dialogue where, and it says, Moses, but Moses says to God, who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt? And God said, I will be with you. And as I was reading this, I couldn't help but like recognize the parallel between the conversation that my friend was having with his dad and he was sharing with us and Moses here, right? Moses, a leader who's being called with this huge responsibility to go into Egypt and talk to the Pharaoh about freeing the Israelites, right? Like these are political policies. He's like, who am I to go and tell the Pharaoh that he needs to let the Israelites go? And just the weight of that, right? And God's response to him is, I will be with you. And this is something that I sit with. I think there's like levels of depth that you grow in your understanding and this being settled in you, right? So I'm not speaking from like, hey, I've got this thing figured out or like, yep, I can amen to this. And that it's something that even I myself, I'm growing in as I'm even growing in leadership and finding myself in new rooms with just new responsibilities and a lot of weight there. And I recognize like, wow, like even in those moments where I may feel like somewhat out of place or I feel like, you know, like this is getting weighty. That's one of the way that I encourage myself is I'm like, God, like I remember that you sent me and that you're with me. And in reading this verse, it's affirming, but then it's also very much so just a reminder of how we are to face challenges.

as sons and daughters of God and I want to give you like four takeaways that I see here that um that I'm still like I said I'm still working through myself but um I'll just share with you one um as when we when we're facing challenges one of the takeaways that I see here is Moses he takes his concerns his inadequacies to God he doesn't pretend like they don't exist or he doesn't like seek out you know some self-help book or some lesser ideology or you know some some whatever you know he takes it to God hey God this is this is how this is what I'm dealing with this is how I feel like I measure up this is these are my fears these are my uncertainties and he allows God to speak into that secondly his strength his confidence to move forward it was never rooted in his self it was rooted in the presence of God it was rooted in him recognizing or him hearing from God that God is with him that's what gave him the confidence to move forward it wasn't his his his own abilities right like not to just completely disregard our abilities but to to have a to be mindful of how much value we give to our own abilities and and and talents and strengths and recognize that that's not where our our strength our confidence is rooted it was his was rooted in in God the third thing is when we face challenges sometimes God's response is his presence and that's one where I don't know that can that can that can be challenging at times where what we're looking for resolution we're looking for a sense of resolve right an answer and God's response is simply his presence and I think that stretches us and it grows us to be able to value his presence a little more than maybe we do already to recognize that God your presence is a sense of comfort it's a sense of peace it's a sense of of protection no matter what I'm dealing with no matter what my struggle is no matter what your struggle may be when we can identify his presence with us it's an opportunity for us to grow in our dependence you know on him and him alone the fourth thing I see is God's presence is what sets us apart in any room that you find yourself in in any challenge that you find yourself facing it's probably nothing you know different than what other people in the world may be facing a challenging challenge with but the difference maker

between us and them as believers y'all is his presence that's what sets us apart I don't know what challenges you may be facing right whether it's challenges you know at home challenges you know with family challenges with friends challenges and relationships challenges with your children it could be parole whatever whatever the challenge is doesn't matter what it is man I just hope this encourages you to take those fears and insecurities to God to find strength and confidence in his presence to grow in your dependence and appreciation for his presence and to recognize that you're set apart in his presence is what sets you apart this was different between us and the rest of the world when we face challenges something that you won't I hope this blesses you take this to your time you know with Jesus and on continue the conversation with them you have a blessing
