Why the Holy Spirit May Feel Far Away | The Ongoing Work of the Holy Spirit Season 1
This week, Rabbi Schneider continues to explore The Ongoing Work of the Holy Spirit, inviting you to experience God’s presence more deeply and find the inner strength and joy only His Spirit can give.
I think there's something in us. I know there's something in me that I'm not fully able to open up to receive God's comfort. ♪♪ Shalom, my holy brothers and sisters. We are continuing today to focus on the ongoing work of God's Spirit in our lives, the ministry of the Holy Spirit. I've said it before. I want to say it one more time. The Father is in heaven right now. Yeshua, Jesus is in heaven right now with the Father's right hand, but the Spirit is on earth. That's why Jesus said in the gospel, I will not leave you as orphans. I will come to you. How did he come to us? Through the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, I will come to you. I'm going to send the helper. The Holy Spirit is the agent through which the Father and the Son are revealed to us. The Holy Spirit's a person, but his job is to disclose the Father, to reveal that which the Father and the Son want us to possess, to have, to walk in.
We need to honor the Holy Spirit as God and recognize that he's living and he's here. And so what we're doing is we're looking at what it is that the Ruach HaKodesh, the Holy Spirit, is presently doing in the lives of God's saints, the operations of God's Spirit in our life right now. And we're not just looking at this as an intellectual study that we can, you know, write down the list of what the Spirit's doing. I want you and I to be brought into a greater depth of truly experiencing and realizing God's activity in our life through his Spirit. I want to encourage you to go watch the other teachings in this same series, because I'm going one by one by one, all the different operations of the Holy Spirit in the lives today of God's holy saints. We're going to pick up today with a new one. The Holy Spirit testifies of Jesus. John 15, 26, Yeshua is speaking here. And he says, when the helper comes, who I will send to you from the Father. Isn't this interesting? Yeshua said he was going to send us the helper, the Holy Spirit. And Yeshua said, I'll send him to you, get this now, from the Father. We read as we study this,
that the Holy Spirit comes from the Father. Then it comes through the Son and the Son ministers him unto us. So the Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son into our souls, our minds, our hearts, even our bodies. We're going to talk about that later. So Yeshua says, when the helper comes, who I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, get this now, he will testify about me. Now, we want to think of this concept of testify. What do we mean by this? He's going to bear witness as to who Jesus is. Yes, firstly and foremost, that he's the Son of God and he's the Messiah. And he's purchased us by his blood. That first of all, the Holy Spirit testifies fundamentally, but the Holy Spirit also testifies to us, get this now, of the fullness of who Jesus is. I want you to consider this for a second. I'm going to share with you right now. I want to put this out there. I want you to consider this. I just got done saying that the Holy Spirit has been given to us to testify to us in fullness of who Jesus is, who Jesus is, not just fundamentally doctrine-wise, but I'm talking about fully who is Jesus.
I want you to think about this. The religious leaders of Yeshua's day, we're talking about the Pharisees and the Sadducees, they missed the Messiah when he came. That is, they missed Jesus when he came because they were expecting the Messiah, listen now, to look like somebody else. They weren't prepared to receive Jesus. largely because he looked different to them than what they thought the Messiah should look like. So they had a different concept of what the Messiah should look like than what the Messiah, get this now, actually was and who the Messiah actually was. They had one concept and when Messiah came in a way that didn't fit into their box, they couldn't see that it was the Messiah. If that was true about the Pharisees, don't you think it could also be true that you and I have some wrong thoughts about the Messiah? The Pharisees missed him completely because of their wrong thoughts. I wonder what thoughts are blocking your mind and my mind from seeing Messiah more fully as to who he really is. I know I have wrong thoughts about him but the Holy Spirit is here to testify of Jesus. He will testify, Jesus said about me. Thank you, Holy Spirit, let's say this together, for testifying to me about Jesus.
Holy Spirit, I ask you that you will continue ongoingly testify to me. I'm speaking on behalf of all of us. Testify to us of the reality of who Jesus, Yeshua, really is. He's more colorful than you think he is. He's happier than you think he is. He's more full of life than you realize. A lot of times we think of him, you know, as being accusatory, judgmental. We think he's mad sometimes when he's not mad. We feel condemnation sometimes that we think is coming from him when in reality, it's not coming from him, it's coming from the accuser of the brethren, the devil, Satan, Satan, the adversary, the accuser. So what I'm saying is we need you, Holy Spirit, to cleanse our minds and testify to us with revelation light of who Yeshua really is. Let us see him in his color. Let us see him, we ask Holy Rock, in his diamond, multifaceted color, exquisite beauty. That's who Jesus is. He's so much more than we realize. In him, all the fullness of the Godhead dwells. So Holy Spirit, we thank you today. And we ask you to testify to us about Jesus so powerfully that every block of darkness, every layer of darkness would be broken off us that we would see into the light
and see Yeshua of Nazareth in his beauty and his glory fully. So we're going to move on, but before we do, let me just read you the verse so it'll be sinking deep in you, John 15, 26. Jesus is speaking, when the helper comes, whom I will send you from the Father, that is the spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, get this now, he will testify about me. He will reveal Jesus to us. All right, let's move on to the next one. Thank you, Holy Spirit. He comforts us, Acts 9.31. Hear the word of God. The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of God abides forever. As the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria enjoyed peace being built up and going on in the fear of the Lord, and then get this now, the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it continued to increase. I wanted to show you that verse because a lot of times we're familiar with Jesus's words when he said, I'm going to send you. Did you know that Jesus himself said, I'm going to send you the comforter. Jesus said, I'm going to send you the comforter. And now we have a specific situation in Acts 9 where the apostles and disciples were going on in the fear of the Lord, get this now,
and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit. You see, the gift had been sent. The spirit had been sent, the comforter that Jesus prophesied. I will send you the comforter. And now what do we find in Acts 9? That the disciples now were walking in the love and ministry to them of the comforter. He was with them. He was doing it. He was here. And that same one, that same precious Holy Spirit is here with you and I, my friend, now to comfort you. He wants to help us to open up. He wants us to open up so that we can allow him to hug us. I think there's something in us. something in me that I'm not fully able to open up to receive God's comfort. I don't know why. Is it that I'm afraid? Is it that I don't feel worthy? Is it because I'm being accused by Satan and I'm believing his lies? I don't know. But there's there's something in me that like repels the Holy Spirit. Now, obviously, I don't mean fully because here I am standing before you in the love of God, but I know that there's something in me that's not fully receiving all that God wants to give me, there's something in me that resist him. He's wanting to fully comfort us. He's wanting us to completely, perfectly feel loved. So, Holy Spirit, we just ask you now. To remove from us, to have mercy on us
through the blood of Yeshua and through what he's done for us to take away and out of us everything that's preventing us from fully receiving and believing in your love and comfort, help us to receive the comforting work of your spirit, we pray, Father Yeshua. Holy Comforter. We receive you. We receive you. All of us, we receive you, Holy Comforter. We receive your comfort, Holy Spirit. I love that. I mean, there's many times I need comforted. Many times I need comforted. We're in a war, beloved ones, and if you're not taking some punches, if you don't have some wounds, I don't really know what to say. But I know for myself, I have a lot of spiritual warfare in my life. I thank you, Holy Spirit. We thank you, God, for sending the Holy Spirit to be our comforter, to lick our wounds. Oh, Jesus, thank you for taking our sin and your body on the cross that you were wounded, Yeshua, for our transgression and you were pierced through for our inequity, Lord Jesus. And through your taking our sin and taking our wounds, our sickness and disease, you've made us whole by the comfort of your spirit, by your atonement, Jesus. All right, I'm trying to get it all out there. I can't fully sometimes hit it with my words exactly what I want to. But I think we should just be more aware and thankful and aware of God's love for us, comforting us, all of us that are his, all of us. Today, right here and now by his spirit.
We're going to move on now. We touched on this earlier, but we're going to be doing it with some different verbiage now. Ephesians 316. Here we go. The present operation, the present ministry of the love of God, the impartation of God's love to us is taking place right now through his spirit in the sense that because of God's love, you are being strengthened by the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 316. Paul is praying to the father and he's asking that he would grant you, meaning you and I, according to the riches of his glory, to be, get this now, strengthened, strengthened with power through his spirit in the inner man. The spirit is our life. He is our life and he's inside us. And Paul is praying that this one that's inside us, this holy one, the comforter, the helper, the helper. Paul is praying now that we would receive strength from the inside of us through the Holy Spirit who's on the inside of us. Oh, my God, aren't you thankful for the hope? Aren't you thankful for the hope that because he lives in you, you are unconquerable. You are indomitable because the Holy Spirit, who is strength, is inside you and greater is he that's in you than he that's in the world. He has authority over everything. And the one that is over all. Is inside us, beloved, ministering strength to us, even as I covered earlier in this series, in our weaknesses. Oh, thank you, Holy Spirit, for your strength, for making us strong in the might of God, in divine strength. By spirit, it's the spirit, beloved, we're we're receiving spirit,
spirit is being imparted to us to strengthen us is literally the spirit life, the Zoe life, we say in Greek of God. himself. It's a living active spirit that's just above every life form because it's the creator of our life form and he's in his children strengthening us. You know, the Lord spoke to me many years ago and some of you know this prophetic vision of the night that I had. It was really marked me. It's a dream, a vision of the night, part dream, part vision. That's why I called vision of the night. It was in a sleep state where you're aware but you're sleeping and in this state suddenly I was aware of a pain inside me like a pain of heart and it was just all of a sudden bam I felt it. It was so strong. I never realized there was that much pain in my heart. I'm not consciously aware that I carry that much pain but all of a sudden it was like whatever I was able to do, whatever I was doing to prevent myself from feeling all that pain or whatever maybe God does to prevent me from feeling all that pain. Suddenly this night, years ago, those protections for me feeling the pain were gone and I fully felt the pain of my heart. Talk about emotional pain, spiritual pain. It was excruciating and then I heard a voice and I could tell it was the voice of an angel. Somebody asked how did you know it was an angel? I just knew it was an angel. I could just tell, you know, when the Lord speaks to you he's got the power to make you know who's speaking to you. Even if he's sending an angel to speak to you, you know it's an angel. So all of a sudden I'm in this pain, the worst pain internally that I ever felt in my life and all of a sudden this sweet angel speaks to me and he said to me very gently, he said you're on the right path. And then I said well if I'm on the right path why does it hurt so much? And the angel said back to me very gently, maybe if you'd cooperate more it wouldn't hurt so much. And then I cried out, I said when will I be happy? And then God spoke, then the Father spoke. You asked me how I knew it was the Father? I don't know, I just knew. Then God spoke. Here's exactly what he said, when you get strong then you'll be happy. It's a word for you too. When you get strong then you'll be happy. All the right circumstances, beloved ones, can't make us wrong. All the right friends, strong rather, all the right friendships can't make us strong. I mean those things are great but what we need is an internal answer, something that comes from within, that's from the realm of eternity, it's from above. When we get strong from the inside out we're going to break through and we're going to walk in joy, that's what you'll be happy. So what are we speaking of here? We're speaking of the ministry of the Holy Spirit to us.
And one of the things that God's Spirit who's been given to us as a gift, God's Spirit that lives on the inside of us, this precious gift, the Holy One living on the inside of us, what does he do for us as a gift and ministry to us? Get it now, he strengthens us. So Paul prays that we'd be strengthened by the might of his Spirit. Let's look at the verse one more time, that he would grant you, Paul prays, according to the riches of his glory to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner man. So I want you to think about this again. You can think about what I just shared with you about my own experience. When you get strong you'll be happy. I want you to think about this because some of us are not living our lives with a depth of understanding about this point. We're trying to solve our pain by buying things, by controlling things substantially, by controlling other people. We're trying to feed ourselves with all the things in the world. For some of us, it's even food. Some of us, it's social media. We're trying to heal the pain we feel through the devil's answers. Not that certain things are wrong, but when we're taking things that are meant to bless us and looking to them as our source, then they become the devil's answers. Just like Satan said to Jesus that if Jesus would worship him, that Satan was going to give him all the things of the world. But Jesus couldn't be tempted by that lie, but sometimes we fall for that lie that something in the world can satisfy. It won't. The only thing, beloved, that's going to make you feel good, the only thing that's going to make you and I feel good is when we're strong inside. Sure, we can feel good temporarily about things. Something fun happens, a blessed relationship, some opportunity. Those things make us feel good for a little bit, but that's not what I'm talking about. talking about a depth. I'm talking about a depth of feeling whole inside. We will not find the happiness we're looking for until we get strong on the inside. And the Holy Spirit has been given to us, beloved, to make us strong from the inside out. Let's look to Him and receive His strength every day into our lives. In the book of Numbers, chapter 6, the Lord gave instructions to Moses and Aaron to speak this blessing over his people.
And the Lord said, when you speak these words over my people, I will place my name on them and bless them. Receive the impartation of the Lord's blessings. Yeh Vah Recheche Yahweh Vah Yishma Recha Ya'er Yahweh P'nav Eylecha V'chunecha Yissa Yahweh P'nav Eylecha Ve'asem Lecha Shalom The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord lift you up by His countenance. And the Lord give you, beloved one, His peace. God bless you and shalom.
