The Spirit Is Speaking | The Ongoing Work of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit gives specific instruction, He reveals to us things that are needed and applicable to our current status, our current situation in life. I just feel like there's so much of a need that the saints have to be more aware of the presence of God with them here on earth now, right now, through His Spirit. Jesus is here with us through the Spirit. That's why He said before He ascended to heaven, I will not leave you alone, I will come to you, I will send you my Spirit. Many of us don't think much about the Spirit. We think about the Father, we think about the Son, we know there is a Holy Spirit, right? We confess the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we know that, but many of us are not really aware of the Holy Spirit's presence on earth with us today. Again, we have fellowship with God today by the Spirit. Father is in heaven, Jesus is in heaven, but the Spirit is fellowshipping with us, bringing the revelation of the Father and the Son to us right now. So here's the proposition. If you can become more aware of the present ministry of the Holy Spirit to you, brothers and sisters, you're going to be more aware of God in your life. You're going to become more aware of His love in your life. You're going to be better aware of His leading. You're going to be better able to discern His voice. So we want to focus our hearts today on the ministry of the Spirit so that we can have His arms wrapped around us with the comprehension of His love and all that He's doing for us because He's been given to us as a gift when we receive Yeshua. We're going to press on to a new dimension of His help for us today. When we speak of John 14, 26, what we find is that the Holy Spirit, the Ruach HaKadesh, He teaches us. Let's hear it. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things and bring to remembrance all that I said to you. Use that phrase, He will teach you all things.

I've already covered earlier in this series on a previous message that the Holy Spirit helps us. Notice that Yeshua actually calls Him, but the Helper. What an awesome thing. I hope you'll go and listen to my earlier message on this aspect of God's ongoing ministry to us, helping us. Oh my God. Do you know whatever you need help with? Whatever legitimate thing you need help with, guess what? You and I, we've got a Helper. God has given us the Helper. So Yeshua begins by saying, but the Helper, thank you, Holy Spirit, for being my Helper. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for being our Helper. The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name. So the Spirit's been sent to us in Yeshua's name because Yeshua purchased this gift for us of the Spirit by His blood. Remember the Spirit had not yet come until after Yeshua was crucified, shed His blood and then presented Himself to the Father in heaven. Then the Spirit was released on the day of Shavuot or Pentecost, but it was the blood of Jesus that purchased for us the gift of the Spirit. And Jesus said, when He comes, He's going to get this now, teach you and me all things. I don't know about you, but like, I'm very aware that I need a teacher. As I shared on a previous episode in this series, there's so much mystery in life. There's so much mystery. And I don't know how much you're aware of the fact that many of the thoughts that you think are not accurate thoughts of reality. How many times have you thought that somebody did something or said something that was against you? Or you had a thought that somebody had ill will towards you only to discover that your thought was totally not based on reality.

I just had a situation like this where somebody sent me a text. They sent me the text. I looked at it. I didn't really study it. I read the text the first time and it hit me a certain way. Like it made me think that the person that was sending me this text was judging me or something like that, accusing me. But you know what? When I went back to read the text, two, three days later, whenever it was and read it again, I read it a totally different way. And I saw that the way that I'd read the text the first time that I read it, I misinterpreted it. My point? I'm aware that I need God's Spirit to teach me how to think right. I'm aware that I'm often thinking thoughts that are not straight, that I'm not seeing clearly, that I'm not thinking correctly or accurately about a given situation, that I'm interpreting something that happened in my life in a wrong way. Maybe something you expected to happen didn't happen. Maybe you expected something to open up or a door to open up or a person to do something and it never happened and you got offended. But you know what? Maybe the way you should have been thinking about it, or I would think about it, would want to think about it if I was in that situation, is that I would,

rather than being offended because a door didn't open, because a person didn't do what I expected them to do, instead, what I should be thinking, and perhaps you should be thinking, is maybe God was saving me and protecting me from going through a door that I shouldn't go through or entering into some kind of relationship at whatever level it might be that God doesn't want you in relationship with. But a lot of times we don't think that way. We just look at life, we have these thoughts, and a lot of times the thoughts that we have, they're coming from the enemy. We're misinterpreting reality. We're not seeing the light clearly. We're seeing through the lens dimly. But as I've shared, it's the truth that sets us free. In order to be free, we need to think right. And I'm so happy that Jesus, Yeshua, has given his spirit to you and I, beloved, to teach us and train us how to think right. Notice what Yeshua said, "'But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things.'" Don't you want to perceive reality correctly? Holy Spirit, teach me to see reality correctly. Holy Spirit, train me to see reality correctly. Holy Spirit, correct me, teach me, so that if I'm thinking an inaccurate thought

or if I'm deceived about something and thinking from the realm of darkness, I ask you to train me, teach me, help me to recognize the deception of the power of darkness that I can be trained, Holy Spirit, to exercise strength, to cut through the darkness, to see deep into your light. Oh God, teach us, we pray. Teach us and train us, we submit to you. We take our knee and bow to you. We want to be taught, we want to be trained. Holy Spirit, we receive your admonition. We present ourself to you as your pupils. Break in and break everything in our thinking that is not straight, that we would think right and see straight and clearly. Teach us, Holy Spirit, we pray. Now this same verse contains something else that I want to draw your attention to. Yeshua continues and he says there, he will bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. So Yeshua said he's going to teach you all things. Then he continued by saying, and he will bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. Now I know that when I read that verse in the past, I just thought that the Holy Spirit will remind us of the things that are recorded in the written word of God in the Bible. They do remind us of those things,

the things that he prophesied about, et cetera. But I want to go to a level here that I think is appropriate and should be included in our thinking about this concept of the Holy Spirit's ministry to us to bring to our remembrance. And that is that Jesus, Yeshua, speaks to us by his Spirit individually and specifically about our lives, about things, relationships, et cetera. In other words, the Holy Spirit gives specific instruction. He reveals to us things that are needed and applicable to our current status, our current situation in life. God's directing us, he's leading us, he's guiding us by his Spirit. So the Holy Spirit helps us to remember things that he's already communicated to us in the past. So you find yourself in a situation, in a conversation, and all of a sudden the Holy Spirit. without you even realizing that it's him, brings to your remembrance something that he's already taught you about this situation. Like we're building, OK, the Holy Spirit's teaching, teaching. Then he brings to our remembrance the revelation and the teaching that he's already given us at some point in the past. See, the Holy Spirit's present. And so I just want to appreciate this, I just want to be aware of this, and I don't want to take for granted that when all of a sudden I remember something that helps me in my current circumstance, I don't want to just take for granted that,

oh, I, thinking of myself, oh, I just remembered that. No, because usually. It's the Holy Spirit that's brought it to our remembrance. It's not just us, we're not alone. God is at work in our life. There's a scripture where the Lord says, I gird you. That's a word for strengthen, but it's translated in the Bible as gird. And the Lord is speaking in the Tanakh, the Hebrew Bible. He says, I have girded you. Though you have not known me, what does that mean? God was with them, strengthening them, and they didn't even know God was with them doing it. Well, I want you to become more aware of the ongoing ministry of God's love to you by his spirit. The spirit's with you and he's not only teaching you, but he's bringing to your remembrance the things that he's taught you in the past so that you can be relevant, that they'll be relevant, that you can apply them and live in the revelation and in those things that he's taught you in your present situation. Now, I want to point this out. When the Holy Spirit is teaching us, where does he get that which he's teaching us from? Well, Jesus said we already looked at this verse earlier, but Jesus said in John 16, 13, that the spirit would not speak by his own initiative. So the spirit does not speak by his own initiative. Yeshua continued there in John 16, he says, but whatever he hears. Whatever the Holy Spirit hears. He will speak and disclose it to you.

What's the spirit doing? He's taking the communication of the father and the son to you and I individually, and the spirit is speaking that which the father wants to communicate to us, which the son wants to communicate to us. So you see, the spirit is the agent of the father to us. To bring God's present communication to bear right now. I just think this is so wonderful because, again, it makes me aware of God's supernatural activity in my life. He's all around us. Don't you want to know that? Don't you want to wake up to know God's love and present true presence with you right now? Well, it's here. So we want to wake up to the ministry of the Holy Spirit because that's how God is here for us. He who has an ear, let him hear what the spirit says to the churches. You know what? You're the church, you're part of the church. Right. I'm part of the church. All of us that are listening right now are watching. We're part of the church. Those of us that are true believers. They're in fellowship with Jesus. Yeshua said he was an ear, let him hear. Get that word here, what the spirit says to the churches. I want us to think for a second. Not only is the spirit speaking, that's what Jesus just got done saying. We've been we've been covering that, but we have to be listening. He was an ear. Let him hear. I think this obviously means that there are some people that don't hear, don't you? So I want to encourage you and I to recognize we've got a responsibility to hear. He that has an ear, let him hear what the spirit's saying.

Do you have an ear? Oh, I want to share this with you. This is just a very, very, very small sliver of the reality of which I'm speaking, but it's one color, it's one shade of it. Someone was sharing with me that they had a dream. And on the dream was really laying on them and it was like with them, it seemed like it was for a long time at night and they thought about it in the night. Then it tried to keep repeated to themselves so that they would remember it because this individual was sharing that they thought it was a God dream. But. The person didn't write it down. And then the next day they couldn't remember the dream, I wonder. If somehow the person would have either got out of bed at the time of the dream or wrote it down the first thing in the morning, I know that some people are more equipped to do this than other people, like some people don't remember their dreams as easy as others. I realize that. So no, no, no, no guilt on anybody or accusation, but I do think that when God speaks to us in. Dream, we should do everything, endeavor to do everything in our power and our control to make sure that we capture that dream and don't forget it. And writing it down will oftentimes help you to solidify it in your mind. Because once you write it down, it goes from just a short-term memory, it becomes a long-term memory. So think about this. When the Spirit was given in Acts chapter 2, we're studying now the ongoing ministry of the Ruach HaKadosh of the Holy Spirit in our lives. When the Spirit was first given to us in Acts chapter 2, Peter stood up and said to all those that witnessed it, because people were speaking in tongues, right? And they were under the power of the Spirit.

It was obvious to all that something was going on, that some power had just dropped, that people were like, you know, under the weight of it. It was physical. Peter said, what you're seeing is not that these people are drunk. He said, what you're seeing is what was prophesied by the prophet Joel. And then he quoted Joel chapter 2, where the Lord said there, in the last days, I will pour forth my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and daughters shall prophesy, get this now, and your old man will dream dreams. So when the Spirit was given, Peter said, some of the blessing of this is going to be that you're going to be able to see in the Spirit. You're going to have visions at night, not at night, visions or any time. So you're going to be able to see in the Spirit, and you're going to have dreams, Peter said, at night, that the Spirit's going to minister to you, speak to you at night. So what that tells me, we just read Jesus' words here in Revelation 2, he that has an ear to hear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches. If the Spirit speaks at night, because that's what Peter spoke about in Acts chapter 2, when the Spirit was first given, Peter said, this is the fulfillment of what happens when God's Spirit is being poured out on all flesh, that you'll be able to see in the Spirit as a result, and you'll dream dreams by the Spirit at night. That means that we should be very focused on looking to God to speak to us in our dreams, to hear what He's saying. And so I guess I'm hoping to put a little pressure on you, so that if you've been missing, not capturing fully what God is wanting to give you and bless you with by speaking to you at your dreams at night, either to give you an admonition, to warn you, to bless you, to bring you into a greater revelation of His love or spiritual warfare. I'm hoping that you'll feel a greater sense of urgency and the need to obey

that when you sense God has spoken to you at night, that you do something to capture it. And oftentimes that will translate to writing it down. If you can't remember it when you wake up in the morning, I want to bless you, encourage you, write it down when you have it at night, so that you'll hear, get it now, what the Spirit is saying to the churches. So we've got a responsibility too. We talked about this earlier, that Jesus gives the Holy Spirit, the Bible tells us in the book of Acts, to those that obey Him. It's a gift that was purchased for us by the blood of Jesus. But to enter into the gift, there's something that's required of the human heart, because God has created us in His own image with a will. So we have to choose to put Him first, to listen and to obey. It's called the Shema in Hebrew, the most famous declaration of every Jew, hear O Israel. And the hear, the Shema involves both hearing and obeying. And so we want to make sure that when we sense God is talking to us, either subtly, through our intuition, through the conviction of the Spirit, audibly sometimes, at dreams at night, a vision, which is something just a simple image. We just want to make sure that when the Holy Spirit is speaking to us, and a lot of times it's something that just becomes clear over time, the message that the Holy Spirit is communicating to you. We want to make sure that we want to be sensitive. We want to have our antennas up, our ears open with a heart to obey. We want to treat God as sacred. And when we obey Him as He's teaching us and speaking to us, He's going to bring us into a deeper realm of eternal life, that place of blessing and love and shalom. but we're going to know it soon enough. In the book of Numbers chapter six, the Lord gave instructions to Moses and Aaron to speak this blessing over his people. And the Lord said, when you speak these words over my people, I will place my name on them and bless them. Receive the impartation of the Lord's blessings.
