What If Your Worst Season Is Actually Your Assignment? | Mornings with Mico

Good people, my name is Miko and welcome to my one-on-one time with God. Today we're wrapping up our reading and the different passages that follow Jesus' resurrection. That's where we've been camped out this week. And we're concluding in Matthew with the Great Commission. This is the, pretty much, this is like the last dialogue between Jesus and the disciples before he ascends into heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father, where he is even currently. Right? So, dive right in. It says, starting, it's chapter 28, verse 16, it says, Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. And when they saw him, they worshiped him, but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age. And this, the portion that I wanted to actually talk from, I actually just abbreviated it and I'll reiterate real quick, it said, it's when Jesus says, All authority has been given to me, therefore go, and surely I am with you always. Very similarly, he says in the book of John, chapter 20, verse 21, we just read a few days ago, Jesus says, he's talking to the disciples and he says, As the Father has sent me, I am sending you. He breathes on them and they received the Holy Spirit. When I was looking at this, I just noticed a pattern there, right? I see God sending people out on mission under his authority and powered by his presence. And that pattern, like it doesn't, it doesn't start with the resurrection, right? This is a pattern that we've seen before. I was reminded, as I was thinking about this, of the verse, when Jesus says that I do the things that I see my father do. And this is like just one of those things he's seen his father do, do right in the past.

You can all the way back in, in, in Genesis, right where, when God encounters Abraham and he sends Abraham, go to a land that I will show you and I will be with you, I will bless you and people will be blessed through you, right? With Moses in Exodus, he sends Moses to rescue Israel from Egypt. And when he sends him under his authority, he says, I will be with you to rescue the people from Israel. The one that stands out to me though, man, the one that's been speaking to me is actually in the book of Isaiah. Isaiah is a prophet and this, this scene is a few centuries before the resurrection where God is speaking and he's asking, he's saying, um, he's trying to find someone to go to speak to Israel because Israel, they, they cutting up again. And he's looking for someone to send to prophesy to them. And God asks, whom shall I send? Who will go? And Isaiah, he responds, he says, here am I send me, right? Sent by God under his authority to prophesy by the power of the spirit. This is the same pattern, right? Like we see this pattern play out and this is the same pattern, if I'm honest, like it's, it's not exclusive to even the Bible, right? We see this, whether it's, whether it's Abraham, whether it's Moses, whether it's Isaiah, whether it's the disciples, it's the same pattern of God sending people out on mission under his authority and empowered by his presence. And that's the same way that he operates with us in this regard. We're no different than, than, um, these characters, these, these not even, I mean, not like fictional characters, they're real people, but we're, we're no, we're no different than, than, than these giants that we read about in the faith, man, like God still has the same expectation and he still runs the same play with us today, right? We're not just called to be saved and sit on the sidelines. We're not just saved. We're also sent under his, under his authority, empowered by his presence, the holy spirit.

This is our anointing, but it's also our responsibility and we're called to steward both. As I was thinking about this, I'm like, man, for me, like not even to overcomplicate it right now. Right. But for me being sent is, is one, like what you see me doing now, like, right, this is a part of my ministry. I know this is what God's called me to, um, to lead this prison. ministry for our church, um, but also sent me to be a mentor to, you know, some of the younger men in our community, in my community, right. Um, sent me right now and I'm feeling this, this tug more and more to step up as a brother to my siblings. Um, sent me, sending me right now to, to, um, growing my sonship to my mother sent me before, before all of this, um, before any of this, right. Ministry included sending me to be a better husband, sending me to be a father. Like these are areas right now, like that I, that I recognize like, no God, this is, these are areas that you're calling me to. These are areas that you've sent me to. Right. And while these may be, you know, some simple practical things, but that's beside the point. The thing is, is I recognize like, God, your presence is with me here and you're sending me into these spaces and you're equipping me. You're calling me to these spaces and I'm not just called to just step into husbandship without being, without submitting up under your authority. Right. That is going to be a recipe for destruction. All of these things that you're sending me to, you're sending me to operate up under your authority. And, and it's something, you know, it isn't like I just, I'm just getting straight A's across the board in all of these areas, but it is something where like Isaiah, I'm like, okay, God, send me. Right. Like I'm willing, I'm willing to, to take a look at myself in the mirror and recognize where I may be falling short, things like that. You know, um, that, that's, that's, that's for me. Right. That's, that's, and you'll, you'll hear me continue to talk about more things like that. Cause I'm an open book. Right. But I can't help, but think like, what does that look like for you? Because what I do know is regardless of what your situation looks like right now, you were sent, I don't know what all circumstances or events led up to you currently being incarcerated right now. Right. But at the end of the day, you were sent right. Like as, as, as a followers of Christ, even if that happened,

even if you, you, you, you stepped into, you know, your, um, your sonship, you, you stepped into the family, you, you, you, you became, you know, got baptized in prison, whatever the case is, man, like right now you were sent and it's, it's really like, it's on us to, on myself, on you to look and see like, okay, God, I'm, I don't have to wait for my address to change for me to step in, to step up to the plate as I'm being sent, right. Being in prison, you don't get to sit on the sidelines of the other believers and being sent. Like you're sent right where you are. You know, you're sent like right in the space that you're in the person in your cell. Maybe it's the person that cut in front of you in the line, maybe, you know, in a child hall, maybe it's a CEO, maybe it's your barber. You know what I mean? Like there are people who God wants to access through you. There are people who he's needing a willing vessel so that he can flow through. So he can impact people, right. There are people assigned to your obedience. There are people assigned to your sphere of influence and just wanting to encourage you, man, bro, sis, whoever, man, like don't, don't, don't, don't. What's the word I'm looking for? Don't, um, forfeit. Don't forfeit that. That is, that's what he's calling you to take some time, look in the mirror and, and, and see like, okay, God, where I am right now for me to fully adopt this mindset. What does that now look like where I am right now to be sent here? How was the world impacted for the better? Because I'm sent here and because I'm available for you to flow through how, who, who, whose life around me is made better. Who's impacted by the way that I live my life, by the way that I've stepped up to the plate to be sent by you. Right. Just, just something. I don't know, man. Like this is, this is kind of like off the cuff right now, man. Like as I'm processing this idea of being sent myself, man. And, and, and just want to encourage you to let you know, like, no, like where you are right where you are, you know, adapt that mindset that you're sent. And at this season, this isn't a season simply to endure or to try to escape from. No, there's purpose in this season right now that you're in. And a big piece of that purpose is accepting the calling of you being sent where you are, where you are right now. So, um, yeah, those are my thoughts as we close in this reading. Um, I'm gonna pray for you, Lord. Um, thank you for everybody who's watching this. I pray Lord that people are blessed as we're in real time we're just kind of processing some of the things that we're reading in your scripture and your word Lord that is still true today. Thanking you Father just for the calling that

you've placed on all of our lives. Thank you Father that you don't send us without your power and you don't send us without your authority Lord so we don't have to take on all of that pressure ourselves Lord that we're not called to step up to the plate and lean solely on our own confidence and our own ability Lord but that we can rely simply on the power that you equip us with and that's the Holy Spirit. I pray peace, I pray comfort, I pray courage over everyone under the sound of my voice right now Lord. Have your way in our minds and in our hearts. I'm proud to see your son Jesus name. Amen.
