Wellness Check: The Demons of Addiction | Heather Schott | Mercy Culture Church

I want you to follow along with the notes this morning. I have a lot of different studies that are in there that we're not going to get to this morning, but I want you to be able to screenshot and later just dive in, take a deep dive into some of the things that we don't have time for this morning, but I included in your notes. All right, y'all ready for the message this morning? Okay, we're gonna be in Mark chapter two, verse one through 17. It says this in verse one, and when he returned to Capernaum after some days, it was reported that he was at home and many were gathered together so that there was no more room, not even at the door. Sounds like San Antonio last week. And he was preaching the word to them, speaking of Jesus. And they came bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men. And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him. And when they had made an opening, they let down the bed on which the paralytic lay. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, son, your sins are forgiven. Now, some of the scribes were sitting there questioning in their hearts, why does this man speak like that?

He is blaspheming. Who can forgive sins but God alone? And immediately Jesus perceiving in his spirit that they thus question within themselves said to them, why do you question these things in your hearts? Which is easier to say to the paralytic, your sins are forgiven or to say rise and take up your bed and walk. But that you may know that the son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins. And then he says to the paralytic, I say to you, rise, pick up your bed and go home. And he rose immediately, picked up his bed and went out before them all so that they were all amazed and glorified God saying, we have never seen anything like this. Then in verse 13, right after this happens, it says that Jesus goes outside and all the crowd was coming to him and he was teaching them. And he passed by and he saw Levi sitting at the tax booth and he said to them, follow me. So he rose and he followed him. And as he reclined at the table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners were reclining with Jesus and his disciples for there were many of them who followed him. And the scribes of the Pharisees once again, when they saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors said to the disciples,

why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners? And when Jesus heard of it, he said to him, those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick do. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners. Mercy Culture Church, I came here to tell you this morning that Jesus came and he's coming today to give a wellness check for those that need him. The title of the sermon this morning is Wellness Check the Demons of Addiction. Pray with me. So Holy Spirit, we thank you that you abide in this room and in this temple. So we say come, stay and have your way. But Lord, I thank you that you do not just abide in rooms. You do not just abide in buildings or in churches, but your word says that we are your temple. So Holy Spirit, I thank you that you're as your people, that you come and you fill your temples, your sons and your daughters. So even now church, would you just begin to welcome the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, we welcome you to fill us up, to fill these vessels up. And we say to every demonic stronghold, tormenting false lying spirit, you have no room to speak today. In fact, I speak to perverse, lagging demonic spirits of addiction. I speak to you this morning.

I silence you in the name of Jesus, just like Jesus did in the word of God. I speak to you this morning. You are not allowed to pull on the people of God. You are not allowed to torment the people of God in this service. You are not allowed to lie or to even cause to sleep or slumber to not hear the words of the Lord this morning. I speak to you to be silent. And Father, I thank you that their spirits are alive, that even now you are opening ears, spiritual ears and spiritual eyes to see and hear potentially what they never have before or to remind them what the word of God and the truth says and that the truth sets free. So today we say more of you and less of us. Holy Spirit, come and fill us. We are submitted to you right now. Come on, repeat after me. Say, I submit my mind to you. I submit my thoughts to you. Lay your hands on your heart. I submit my heart to you. My ways to you. Put your hand on your belly. Say, I submit my spirit to you. I am yours, Lord. Lord, I ask today. For personal reformation make every crooked way straight in me, and we pray what Samuel prayed

Come on. We prayed what Samuel prayed Yeah, speak Lord your servants are listening father I thank you that the sound and the voice of the Holy Spirit is louder than any other voice Father we submit to the blood of Jesus today We say thank you for setting your captives free in Jesus mighty name Amen Well this morning I am ministering a message that has never been ministered to before at Mercy Culture Church I am ministering on the demons of addiction And as many of you see me in a suit my hair done looking like I have it all together This isn't how it always was in fact I come from a history and past of drug and alcohol addiction myself And this is something that's near and dear to my heart I was actually so excited when the Lord began to stir in my heart I believe it was in June, and I was in a daily encounters, and I'm as I'm encountering the Lord I feel so impressioned by the Holy Spirit I'm encountering through him through remembrance And he reminds me how he set me free and all of a sudden I have this impression and this faith that fills me like God is jealous To set his sons and daughters free and I write it down Potential sermon on breaking addiction off of the body of Christ this year that very same day Our pastor comes to me, and he said in my encounter this morning I had a full-on open vision of you preaching on addiction And it was wild in the room the glory of God broke out and thousands of people Were set free in this message in our spiritual warfare Series you have to preach on breaking addiction. I had tears that begin to run down my face knowing that this was confirmation on the very same day and also knowing the jealousy of Our King because he is returning soon. I'm not a crazy person I read my word and I can tell by the signs of the times that we are in I do not know when because we're not Supposed to know the hour But I know he is returning soon, and he is jealous for souls

He is jealous for his sons and daughters to be ready to be free For his return and if the body of Christ is not free. How are we setting them free out there? This is why the enemy has tormented the body of Christ with bondage and addiction. I'm taking my shoes off We're just gonna get down into a holy Holy ground this morning There's gonna be ways throughout this service where you're gonna feel his presence. You're gonna feel his freedom Hear me this morning Let me just set the scene so that faith begins to arise like we were we were singing this morning There are secret addictions that are in this room Some are so bound you can tell it on the outside and then there's other of us that are businessmen and business women Oh, we we have it that it looks all together, but we are bound by pharmaceutical drugs We are bound by painkillers. We are bound by alcohol and I'm telling you a jealous King is coming for you He's knocking on your soul this morning. This very service is for you that God would truly set you free This morning. My life's scripture is 2nd Corinthians 5 17 This is what he began to speak over me as he healed and he set me he healed and delivered and set me free 2nd Corinthians 5 17 says this For if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation The old has passed away and behold the new has come this morning God is all God is about to do a work in your life that you're not gonna need a 27-step program And I'm not saying if you've gone through a program that that's a bad thing But do you know that the one that conquered the grave if you really believe it? Would you just wave at me the one that went to the grave died and rose again? On the third day addiction is nothing for him. It is nothing for him Let faith arise in you this morning that addiction is gonna bow Addiction to alcohol to drugs to marijuana to perversion to pornography It's gonna bow about half of you are excited. The other rest of you are gonna wake up this morning I know it's the 11 o'clock service. You got to sleep in wake up Asleep in church is not good for an end time church another sermon And for another day, but behold, the new has come. This is where the enemy comes to place shame on you.

Oh, of your past. I'm gonna testify to you all morning. I'm gonna tell you stories all morning long of how he set me free because only our God can take our most disgusting, darkest moments and use it for his glory to set other people free. This is why the enemy is so afraid of a man and a woman's testimony because it brings glory to him and unseats demonic principalities like addiction. Behold, the new is coming. Here's a problem with humans, including Christians, is that we are adaptable. We are adaptable. We change with the signs and the times, what's going on in the world. You look at technology. You look at the medical field. You look at inventions. Whatever new invention or technology that is coming. We used to have phones back in the day. You don't have to put it up there. I'm not gonna go through the whole thing. You don't have to put the sides up there. But with long cords that you would stretch as far as you could to the fridge to try to multitask without that thing popping out of the bottom. Now we probably haven't seen one in decades, but that was a part of our everyday life. Hear me.

We are adaptable to the new things that the world introduces to us. And in some ways it can be a strength, but I believe it's a greater weakness potentially to our demise. See, if the world or government and laws change, we change our morals. And all of a sudden it's old fashioned to believe that way because they changed a law. Mississippi trying to change a law saying that you can murder a baby up until birth is wicked. And I hope it doesn't happen in all 50 states because we're gonna wage war in Mississippi. But hear me today. If all 50 states in our lifetime go that direction, ah, it doesn't change our mind. It doesn't change the truth. It doesn't change the word of God. And we do not shift or change our beliefs, our faith or our lifestyle according to the world's ways. See, if technology changes, what? We learn and we adapt to it. If the medical system changes, we follow according to what they say. If our society and culture changes, we change according to it. What does this mean? This means that when states in America legalize marijuana and they call it compassion for those, yeah, I'm stepping on all toes,

so just say, let's get uncomfortable. All of it, all of it's going today. And the world says, oh, no, no, no, no, no. This is compassionate for those with terminal diseases or even non-terminal diseases. And the body of Christ is like, oh, it's a compassionate thing, kind of like COVID. Never talk to your neighbor. Don't reach out to them. Don't pray for them. If we never saw in the word of God, Jesus went into every single camp and he healed disease and sickness everywhere he went. Do you see how culture begins to, I made this up, culturize us. Change our beliefs, our mindsets, our lifestyles according to the world's ways. So what it says, this is a compassionate thing to do. And what do we do? Our conviction goes to the back seat and our compromise into the front seat, which we give louder ear to. They begin to come up with new names for marijuana. So we stop feeling like it's a drug and we call it cannabis. We call it CBD. It's organic, it's natural. Oh, it's great for calming anxieties and fears. Americans struggle so much with anxiety and fears. Now this is the new miracle drug. We put our conviction in the back seat

and we put the compromise in our front seat, giving a louder ear. Listen, I'm coming for every area today. Drinking has become a style. Church, church leaders, Christians, it has become a style that everyone drinks now and there is a style that comes with it. Wineries might be some people saying in the rolling hills and Italian villas where you leave all your worries behind. It's a lush style, a way of life to enjoy life and lay your stresses down. How about those that enjoy skunk? Or how about those that enjoy scotch that has this style with the plaids and the old world, the man's club, the cicar lounge. It's a style or a way of life to lie your pressures down and enjoy life. I'm coming for you, Texas. How about beer? It's this Southern thing. The good old. boy way, the cowboy way, the real man way to push against the femininity of men in culture. It's the cheers to being tough and an American. It's a style and way of life to enjoy life and to lay your stresses down. Here's the problem. The style that the enemy really wants you to pick up is not a look, it's rebellion. He wants you to look to an idol thinking that there is freedom in that thing when many times it's a setup for an addiction. He wants you to pick up that drink, that pill, that substance instead of what? Going to God. Anything that replaces God that you run to in your life becomes an idol in our life. See, it starts slow where the enemy says, it's just one drink now. Oh, it's just one gummy now. Fill in the blank with all the other

marijuana vessels that they've used. Okay. When I'm talking about marijuana, I'm talking about all of it, the pens and all the other weird stuff that they've come up to make it feel like it's something that's good for us or easy or can be hidden easier. It starts off slow until that one drink, it just doesn't cut the edge off anymore. That one gummy, it just does not cut off the edge anymore. Now you need a second drink. You need a third, you need a fourth. Like we heard in the testimony this morning in worship, you need a second gummy, but you don't just need it on Friday nights anymore. It's Saturdays, it's Sundays, it's Monday through Sunday now. And you know what? That's just not working anymore. Now I need the pill with a gummy or now I need the pill with the alcohol. And now I'm in a place where I am no longer hungering for the presence of God, for church or stewarding my spiritual health. I have completely now stepped into a place where I am welcoming the demonic or the demons of addiction. See, this is how they whisper, you need the alcohol, you need the marijuana and those gummies to relax, to rest, to have fun. But hear what the Lord is saying to you this morning. He is saying, I am here. I am the I am. And I am a jealous God that I want to be the fun to your stress. I want to be the rest to your exhaustion. I want to be the peace to your anxiety. It is witchcraft. Church, it is witchcraft to trick you into being a slave, because that's what it is, to a substance instead of his son with an inheritance. A slave to a substance instead of a daughter with freedom. That's what he paid for. Galatians 519 through 21 says this. Now the works of the flesh are evident, sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery. Remember that word, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things alike. Drunkenness and sorcery are separate in this portion of scripture, both pointing out different sins. This word sorcery in the Greek is the word pharmakia. Pharmakia, when you do the Greek word study, is where we get the English word pharmacy and pharmaceutical from. This word pharmakia literally means translated drugs, potions, poisoning, magic, sorcery, and occult practices. If you go back to ancient days up to modern days, almost all occult practices include drugs. If you look at the satanic church, when they do rituals over bodies or even with children, they use drugs in the children, in those that they are sacrificing. They themselves will do drugs. Why? They believe, which it is, is opening them up into a demonic portal. You see the mafia, that their religion is santeria. There is drugs all over. Why? They serve these false gods and saints to try to get a false sense of power or protection to what?

Deal and to do drugs. Isn't it interesting when you start to break down all the different occult practices, sex trafficking, the majority of them coming in are on drugs. Why? They have drugged them up to control them. This is witchcraft church. It is so interesting that witches, satanic rituals, sex traffickers, and those that perform occult practices use drugs to enter demonic portals to worship their false gods, which are demons and Satan. And we think drugs are natural and pure and a good solution, not realizing we go to that pharmacy for all of those prescriptions. And not all doctors, but many today, are drug dealers because they get their percentage off of every single prescription that they are giving you. And they're not going home to see your marriage fall apart, your teenagers, your family, your life, your business fall apart. They are making and getting rich off of making America sick and addicted to pharmaceutical drugs, which means potions, poisoning, magic, sorcery, and occult practice. Revelation 18 through 23 is the same word, pharmakia. It says this, and the light of a lamp will shine in you no more, and the voice of a bridegroom and bride will be heard in you no more. For your merchants were the great ones of the earth, and all nations were deceived by your sorcery. This is speaking to an end time church. I have goosebumps all over me. It is speaking to today. It's saying your merchants, your ships

that go into all of the nations and are planting what? Potions and drugs and sorcery is the demise of the nations. Revelations 9.21 says this, and nor did they repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts. Isn't it interesting that each time that sorcery, this word pharmakia is there, that multiple groups of sin come together? Because the moment you open yourself up to the demonic, the moment you begin to open yourself up to witchcraft, there you will see all different types of sin because one demon isn't happy to live in you by itself. It's gonna invite all of its friends. It's gonna invite all types of sin. Why? Its goal is to destroy you. Why? Because you are God's holy temple and God has a call and purpose on your life. I know it's old-fashioned and you've heard it, but this word never runs. Ah, it never becomes old-fashioned. It speaks to every generation. And the enemy wants to destroy you and take you out. And not just you, but your family. And not just your family right now, but your children and your children's children. It wants to destroy you for generations. I remember back in the day when I did, I mean, I did every type of drug there was to do.

See, I'm just gonna say this first before I tell that story. I believe, I think it's so interesting that when people get high, they see things, they have these weird encounters, odd encounters, and it's like you have opened the door into this other demonic, dark world. And those that are around you that may not have partaken in those drugs are not having the same experiences in you because they have not opened themselves up. And so they're not seeing the same things. Now, in the world, you laugh something like that off. Not in the spiritual world. I remember that there was one time that I'd taken shrooms with my friends, and there was one of my friends that didn't, and we're all standing there talking, and all of a sudden, I look down and I'm standing in an anthill. And the anthill begins to grow and go up over my calves, and ants start going up my legs and biting me all over my legs. I feel the pain of the bites. I'm freaking out and trying to get them off, and I can't get them off. My friends are laughing until my best friend, who didn't do them, he looks over and he's like, okay, well, I'm gonna help her out. She's apparently in pain, but what? He is not seeing.

He is not encountering. He is not experiencing. He is not encountering. He is not experiencing what I am experiencing, because I have now stepped into a demonic portal that is actually inflicting pain on me. He begins to try to wipe them off and tell me that they're off to calm me down. Here's a warning. When you partake in drugs, you are opening your temple and your body, your soul, and spirit up to sorcery, up to witchcraft, and up to the demonic. Here's the thing. Drugs and alcohol have been used as a tool of deception to let yourself go, to let your hair down, to have fun, and in doing so, you begin to open up yourself to sinful things and lifestyle. sexual immorality many times, affairs, all different types of perversion, murder, stealing, breaking the law, car accidents, to a loss of passion and desire for life or the call of God on your life, even death. This is the destruction when we open ourself up to substance abuse, to drugs, to witchcraft. See, conviction leaves because now my mind isn't present. Demons are invited in, which means the Holy Spirit is evicted. Some of you in this room have been struggling intensely, wanting an encounter with God, but you're trying to live two lives where you are mixing and you are filling yourself up with substances and God says, I will not compete with another God or an idol in your life. Choose this day. Today is the day whom you're going to serve and if it's me, great, I'm gonna show up, but if you want to keep your idol, Rachel, in your back pocket for whenever you feel like it and I'm not working for you. He says, I know, I know, and I'm a jealous God. See, alcohol and drug addiction or any type of addiction is about control.

It wants to control you. The demons of addiction want to control your mind, your emotions. It wants to make you dependent on it so that it controls everything in your life. This is why the enemy fights so hard to get you, God's sons and daughters, addicted because when he has control over you, hear me this morning, you are no longer submitted to God, but you are subject to the demonic. We see this in Genesis chapter 19 verses 30 through 38. This is Lot and his daughters. This is after God comes and he destroys Sodom and Gomorrah because of the great sin and the injustice. There was so much wickedness. He says, I'm going to destroy this city, but he has mercy on Lot and his daughters and they flee to another city, but instead, out of fear, instead of going to the city, the Bible says that they run to a cave and this is where in this cave that they set up home in fear. But see, there's nobody else in the cave. So Lot's daughters realize there's no husbands, there's no future because there's no sons and daughters if I don't have a husband. So manipulation, witchcraft, hits Lot's daughters. And they think, why don't we use sorcery? Why don't we use alcohol to control our father to manipulate this situation? And the Bible says that the the eldest daughter gets Lot drunk the first night. She sleeps with him to the point he's so drunk he does not remember. And the second night, and this is where a lot of people read a story and blame it all on Lot's daughters and take no recognition of Lot as the father who falls for it two nights in a row. He picked up that drink. He received and he drank it. Come on, a lot of us have been victims in addiction where we have not taken responsibility for ourself and our choices, but today God is going to give you a choice and the grace for freedom. But in this story, it says the father was drunk with wine and he was not aware of the sin that was committed where he laid down with his daughters. So in verse 36, thus both of Lot's daughters became pregnant by their father. The older daughter gave birth to a son named Moab. He is the father of the Moabites today. The younger daughter also gave birth to a son who is the father of the Ammonites today. The Moabites and the Ammonites today are the Arab nations that have been warring against Israel since the beginning of time. They are literally

God's chosen or God's chosen people's enemies. Doesn't mean that we don't believe for those nations that they are going to be set free. Ruth came out of those nations that God used in magnificent, powerful ways. But here's the thing, also the Moabites, they were the ones that invented worship to Molech. The Ammonites were the ones that invented the worship to Baal, literally. Sorcery, child sacrifice that is plaguing our nation to this very day. What is the point? Your decisions today hold grave consequences for your future. And this is why the enemy knows if he can get you bound today, maybe he can get your son, maybe he can get your daughter, maybe he can get your grandchildren, and maybe he can get your family for legacy year after year decade after decade in bondage so that you never fulfill what God said over your family. See drunkenness which is a sin according to the word of God creates devastating consequences. Proverbs 20 verse 1 says this, wine is a mocker strong drink a brawler and whoever is led astray by it is not wise. Alcohol and drunkenness will lead you astray that's what proverb says. It says it will lead you astray. I don't say this to like oh look at what Landon and I do because you all know my story of addiction in the past to alcohol and to drugs but to this day for that reason and for some other reasons Landon and I do not drink any alcohol. It was a bondage and stronghold in my life and when God set me free, freedom ah Americans should understand this is one of the greatest gifts that we can be given that has to be protected. It has to be honored and I am never giving the enemy another foothold in my life to put me in bondage to addiction to being a slave to the demonic. I will never touch alcohol for the rest of my life. My children will not be around alcohol. They will know my testimony. My daughter knows my testimony so that they have a fear of the Lord and what it causes and then we've also seen outside of my personal story so many be destroyed. So many be destroyed. Pastors, churches falling apart, families, marriages falling apart because of alcohol addiction. Why don't you just wave your paws for a second but if your best moments in your life were when you were drunk or high, wave at me. There is not a wave. Your best moments were when you were drunk and high. Yeah okay there's going to be deliverance and healing for both of you. Come on at the altar come meet me. Come meet me. Okay so two verses however many are in here.

Who knows what they've been through. Who knows what pain that they've been through where the enemy said to them those were the moments they didn't feel that. But there's one in this room a healer and deliverer that will heal all of that pain. Every ounce of it. The majority of us those weren't the best moments because we've seen it destroy and tear down people's lives. For that reason none of our pastors if you're a pastor on staff they have to sign something that they are going to withstand from drinking alcohol for the entire length of time that they are a pastor at Mercy Culture Church. And this is a firm stance that we took because we want the vessels and the leadership of this house not having a foothold of the enemy. We want pure vessels that believe for the body of Christ of freedom. We want pure vessels that aren't bound at home privately and living with a mask a religious mask on and trying to minister to somebody that they themselves are in bondage of. So I'm going to give you some facts on addiction. All substance use disorders interesting name addiction is what that means about 46.3 let that just sink in 46.3 million Americans had a substance use disorder in 2021. Only six percent received treatment that year. Do you know how many millions of bondage that means of people in America are? Drug overdose deaths about 110,000 Americans die from drug overdose every single year. Prescription drugs the major prescription drug categories associated with misuse are opioids, CNS depressants, and stimulants. Opioids this includes legal medications such as oxycodone, hydrocodone, and morphine as well as heroin and fentanyl. Opioids remain a major driver of overdose deaths. I'm just going to say this as we are talking about pain pills and painkillers that doctors hand out like candy. I am not giving the enemy a foothold in my life no matter that pain. After birthing three children I'm not here to cast judgment on anybody or condemnation because there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus. But we have to begin to change our mindset that there is a healer and a restorer and that we could look and believe and have faith that he could heal things in our bodies that pills aren't going to do. make a choice when they said you want pain pills after having a baby and knowing my past no thank you i'll be in pain a little bit extra pain for a few days but i'm not taking those some of you today you're gonna go empty those cabinets out because maybe you said just in case but you think it's for a bad day i'm telling you the enemy is waiting for your bad day for those pills and that's why you have to go throw them out because everybody is going to have a low season

and the enemy knows the moment in time to come and tempt you with that alcohol cabinet and those pills and a mix to drown your whatever sufferings pain and things that you're going through when jesus wants to be the one that you run to and he meets and his peace washes over you just because you knelt in an office just because you pulled over on the side of the freeway in your car with your head on your steering wheel and said god i need you we're so used to a pill a drink the church cures nothing i'm pleading with you this morning that you would learn to call on the name of jesus alcohol is legally available but can produce alcohol use disorder or addiction which is a substance use disorder it is cited approximately here this 30 million americans addicted to alcohol 30 million americans that need freedom 30 million americans that need deliverance this is crazy that means i'm sorry actually i'm getting ahead of myself legal pharmaceutical drugs are a significant part of the problem and many people this is how they decipher what i should take and what i shouldn't between whether or not it's legal or whether or not it's illegal come on we don't live according to the world's ways we live according to kingdom ways it's not about whether it's legal or illegal it's whether about is this what my king says is best for this vessel a drug doesn't have to be illegal to be addictive prescription medications can cause dependence addiction overdose or withdrawal when they're misused or even problems when you're taken when they're taken exactly as prescribed now we're going to get into marijuana these statistics statistics are crazy to me they're from 2024 64.2 million americans age 12 plus used marijuana at least once during the past year 44.3 million used marijuana in the past month and about 16.9 million uses marijuana daily or almost daily during the past year 17 million americans are smoking marijuana or taking it in other means every day no wonder we have a sleeping nation in no wonder we have a nation that doesn't uh a graduate high school or college or fulfill the call of god on their life no map no no wonder we have other nations that are beginning to rage and plan on how to take american out americans out they see our weakness they see our addiction they see our sleepiness listen to this about 20.6 million americans met the criteria for marijuana addiction marijuana use disorder in the past year this means about one in three americans who used marijuana in the past year met criteria for cannabis use disorder in 2024 that means a third of this room a third of this room is addicted to marijuana you're going to be set free today

god's going to set you free he's going to clear your mind he's going to bring back into order everything that it has caused on the inside of you you don't have you don't have learning disabilities do you know that that is some i did an entire study that you can go read we can't get into it because we don't have the time but i believe so many of our learning disabilities come from so many of us that started drugs when we are young we turn to it we can't sit still we move all the time and they're like oh let me give you another medication go ahead you text notes to 590 90 look at that long list of things that it does to your brain listen marijuana use breaks down your body mind and spirit and youtube will never tell it to you it's going to tell you it's the miracle drug to calm and Cure everything. Guess what? It cures nothing. As soon as that person isn't high anymore, the pain is back. The shaking is back. Or whatever it is that they had. So what they're saying is just stay high for the rest of your life? Or Jesus! Come on, or Jesus sets you free! He's gonna set us free. He's gonna set us free. Or Rabba Yeh, Sata Rabba Yeh. I'm praying, I'm interceding. So today, we're doing a wellness check. Today, we're doing a wellness check. What's a wellness check? It's an in-person visit by police or public safety officers. They're not coming in, don't worry, don't get nervous. It's me and the Holy Spirit.

To check, y'all check the doors. Start just throwing whatever's in your pockets in your neighbor, under your neighbor's chair. Come on, you're gonna bring it to the altar at the end. Ha! Woo! Woo! Come on! I'm radical. The way that God delivered me was radical. And I'm believing for your radical deliverance and healing today. I'm not letting you go until you're free. We gotta lock the doors until you're free. We're gonna lock the doors until you're free. He's jealous for you, church. He's jealous for you to have a sound mind again. He's jealous for you to be filled with passion, for his presence, his glory, to fulfill the call of God on your life. He's passionate about you being passionate about being a father again, a man of God again, a mother again. Ah, church, wake up. We're doing a wellness check this morning. This is when people request a friend, a family member, a neighbor suddenly stops answering calls. And they seem to be in danger, so they call for a wellness check. So y'all ready for this?

How do you know if you are addicted to a substance? Holy Spirit, I thank you that all condemnation is gonna go. And the people in this room, ah, know just the demonic attack that's come against them. So, Father, I thank you that as I read these characteristics of addiction, that, Lord, you're gonna open their spirit eyes to see it and to not make the excuse any longer that they're not addicted. This is what the enemy does to all of us. He tells us, you're not really addicted. You can handle yourself. You can control it. It's a lie. It has control over you. You're gonna get free today. See, this is how you know you're addicted. You think about getting high or the drink all the time. It speaks to you as a voice. If someone tries to tell you to stop, you get angry like you're trying to get in your way, like they're trying to get in your way of peace or a letdown. You begin to have broken relationships with friends, family members, coworkers, because you see them as the bad guys that don't understand you, don't appreciate you. They're trying to stop you from what you wanna do, and you see them as the controlling ones.

You methodically will plan out scenarios to get to your high or your drink that usually, or pornography, whatever, fill in the addiction, that usually includes lying to loved ones, deceiving others, manipulating, stealing, but you feel driven to do whatever it takes to get to that substance. In that driven state, you have lost caring about your loved ones. In fact, many times you don't even care anymore if it hurts them. Conviction feels far from you. You've not only lied to others, but listened to lies yourself and adopted them as the truth. It sounds like you deserve this. No one works as hard as you, so they don't understand. It's not that bad as they're trying to make it out to be. They're just religious and judgmental. You always spin it on someone else to try to take the attention off of yourself. Blame is the game. In fact, you will even cause strife or offenses in other relationships to control those directly around you to make distance from good people in your life who will tell you the truth to fight for you. The stronger the demon of addiction becomes, the greater lengths you will go to to cover for yourself and to tear down others.

This is part of the torment that you've been under. You do what you really do not want to do, but the control of the demonic addiction drives you to cut off good relationships, stop pursuing God and the call of God on your life, to stop dating your wife or your spouse, to stop spiritually leading your kids. The zeal you once had for God or for life prior is no longer there. You may see creepy things, hear voices, have demonic experiences, have bad dreams. Even your family will experience some of these things because you have opened the door up to the demonic, not only in your own life, but also into your home. You experience withdrawals when trying to stop. It can happen like this. Withdrawals are extreme emotional ups and downs, pain, sickness, irritability, anger, nervousness, anxiety, depression, restlessness, sleep problems, decreased appetite, unusual dreams, headaches, and cravings. That's how you know if you're experiencing those things this morning, just say to the demon of addiction, I've caught you. The demon wants you to feel exposed, but sir and ma'am, today you are exposing the enemy. You are exposing the demons of addiction today. So let me tell you the truth. Demons are speaking to you, it's not your thoughts. Loved ones are fighting for you, not against you. The substance is controlling you,

not the spouse, family member, or friend. Others aren't religious or judgmental towards you. They're right, you're bound and you need freedom. You don't deserve freedom to sin, you deserve freedom from sin. If you let go from controlling, give God back control, he will deliver you. So here's practical advice for those that are addicted. Don't push away your loved ones. Hear me this morning. Isolation is exactly where the enemy wants you. In isolation is where demons control you best. They'll make you feel safest by yourself and in secret, where you can get your high or drunken state from that substance without anybody judging you. Run from that voice of isolation and to your loved ones. Expose the lies you're hearing and expose them to loved ones, expose them to your pastors, expose them to godly friends. Don't carry shame, don't cover up for demons. Don't cover up for them. They're speaking to you and so many times we keep secrets for them like it's us. Don't keep demon secrets, expose them. Wage war spiritually. War against the demons of addiction. This takes a waking up out of the potion that it's had over you and when you wake up out of that, hear me, wage war in the spiritual realm. That was a lame response.

Wage war in the spirit realm. I get excited the second you start talking about waging war, sing a song about waging war. I'm just gonna see my hair just everywhere like a crazy person's like why did she even get dressed or do her makeup or hair today? I love waging war against the demonic. It's what he died for. It's the life that he placed on the inside of us. You wage war spiritually, how do you do this? You get in his presence, your daily encounter every day and if you miss a day, you don't have shame and just be like I can't do this daily encounter thing. No, the next day just get back into it. Get into your word, pray and talk to God when you're in the car. Go for a walk in the evening and lift your hands. Turn on mercy culture worship. In fact, turn it on everywhere you go. Let it play in your bedroom all night as you're sleeping. Set an atmosphere for the spirit of the living God to speak so that demons can't speak. In your office, turn on worship. Yes, even in those secular places. Have you heard of the Constitution? They don't mind not putting all that unholy stuff everywhere. Turn on holy music around you and set an environment for freedom and deliverance. Maybe you're not the only one,

but somebody else in that office, come on. Somebody else in that office begins to be set free also. Set an atmosphere for freedom. Wage war spiritually. Romans 6.16 says you are slaves of the one whom you obey. I love this scripture, especially for the men because I want that holy pride. You know, the holy pride, not the wicked pride to rise up. Scripture says you are slaves to the one whom you obey. Men, how much longer are you going to obey demons and be a slave to them? Men, how much longer do you not want to be the father or husband that you know you're called to be and be a slave to those demons? Or you can be a bond servant to Christ with spiritual authority, with power, with a sound mind that's leading your office to Christ, that's leading your family in daily encounters. Like the prophetic word the Lord said, the prophetic word of 2026 was that the men would lead their households and their sons and daughters into encounters. They're watching you dads. Are you turning to alcohol for a buzz? Relieve, are you turning to the presence of God, kneeling before them, teaching them what prayer looks like and talking to God. That's what God has called you to, fathers, men of this house. Leading others around you as spiritual beasts,

not bound and slaves to the demonic. We wage spiritually and we wage war practically. Get rid of anything and everything that is unpleasing to the Lord. In your home, in your car, in your pockets. Listen, I remember after God delivered me and set me free, my dad, he had addiction that plagued him his whole life since he was a child. In fact, his father took him at six years old, gave him his first beer and said, I'm gonna teach you how to be a man today. This is why addiction plagues my family. Many of the men and even the women all the way to me was plagued with addiction. And I remember when God set me free, I wanted freedom and still for my father so badly that I would talk to him about it all the time and pray for him and fast for him. But I would literally get into his car and I would do checks, whether he was looking or not, he could watch me or not. I would go through everything, every backseat, oh, a bag of weed, okay, mom's toilet. Sorry, mom, flush down here. And I would just clear the place, clear it, as I am waging war, what, also practically for him. I'm going to remove and not be around or a part of something that I know is wicked. Get rid of everything that is unpleasing to the Lord. Today, many of you are gonna go home.

You're gonna dump out, you're gonna throw out the gummies, you're gonna plug up your toilets or use the trash can at the neighbor's yard so you can't go back and get it when demons come back tomorrow to try to say, are you sure you really wanna throw that one away? You're gonna go home and you're gonna throw the pills out. You're gonna throw the things out that have kept you in bondage and then you're gonna go tell the people around you, the ones you used to get high with, the ones that you used to drink with, that doctor that gave you those pills like candy. You're gonna text him and be like, yeah, I'm changing doctors, delete on contact. And then I'm gonna find a naturopath doctor that's gonna do a flush of my system and have faith in God that he is gonna redeem my body and my mind and my organs, come on. We gotta get our faith back, church, in a healer and in a redeemer. 1 Corinthians 6, 12, I will not be dominated by anything. It is the hour again that we say, no, nothing will dominate my life ever other than the power and presence of the Lord. Here's a warning for those of you loved ones that have addicted loved ones. And you are fine with having a glass of wine, it doesn't affect you. You're fine with having one beer, it does not affect you.

You could have one sleeping pill a year on a rough night and you're never gonna turn to it again and addiction is not your thing that you've ever been plagued with. I'm gonna lean into you. Because if you have a loved one around you that has been addicted and is fighting for freedom, the best way that you can serve them is by not bringing the substances around them, near them, in your home, in a restaurant. I can't tell you how many people I have seen feel completely free to be drinking when somebody's got a countdown clock on their phone of how many days they've been freed from it and could care less that they have temptation in front of somebody that it could be the end of their life if they went back to it. There has to be a beautiful, holy sacrifice in the body of Christ and as Christians that we can do without a stupid substance to aid people in our lives. How about the next generation that is completely bound in addiction? There was a prophetess years ago we knew well. She was anointed incredible prophetic words over our life that were fulfilled and she would drink glasses of wine. We finally had to sit down with her and we began to challenge her on it because she had a bunch of teenagers

and young adults living in her house. And we said, you know, you're having the parties at your house where you'll serve alcohol and you'll drink wine and things like that and you have all these young adults and teenagers and with a couple of them sitting there, Landon and I leaned into her and we said, we'd like you to pray about not doing that anymore. The teenagers, the young adults begin to say, that's religion, that's a religious spirit. Grace message, a perverted grace message was being preached everywhere. You can never fall away from God. Within less than a year, not within a year, less than a year, those young adults and teenagers living in her house, I remember seeing on social media, are in clubs, in bars, drinking, taking shots, completely fall away from the Lord. We have to be aware of the influence we carry of those that are watching around us. And the enemy dumbs down, fathers, mothers, friends, he dumbs down the influence you carry to make you feel like a nobody, because he knows you're a somebody in the kingdom. He knows the influence in the people that watch you and the influence it has on others. And that your one glass may be seven for a teenager or a young adult. See, your leadership in your home is powerful for your children, what they see you do.

Many times what they see you do is the way that they will also live. See, the enemy wants to steal, I'm gonna lean into this for a second, your child's gaze off of a righteous father or mother to make you unrighteous, not to just come for you, but to take generations out, for your sons and daughters to curse you one day, for you to have to watch the pain of their addiction. If you think the pain of your addiction, many of you know sitting in this room of what I'm talking about, that at one point in your life, you had great addiction. And now you've watched your children or your grandchildren with the great addiction. And you know the pain of watching that is far greater than even what you went through yourself. But guess what, this morning, I had a vision that even as God breaks out in freedom in this room, which he's about to, there was gonna be freedom and encounters that were released all over this nation for your loved ones to be set free this morning. We saw it in the spirit, many pastors as we prayed, come on, there's gonna be freedom, I want faith to arise, faith to arise. I'm gonna give you this real quick, practical advice for family members, friends walking through freedom with loved ones that are addicted, this is so important.

Some of you are the loved ones that have been addicted while trying to help somebody else out, or some of you haven't been addicted, but you've been believing for somebody that does have addictions, listen to this. This is a hard place to be because it hurts more to see the ones you love in bondage than even yourself. And when you know freedom, you want your loved ones to know that freedom. But hear me, you can't want it more for them than what they want, they have to want it, they have to fight for it. Mistakes can be made and mercy given, but here's the question, do they get back up and want to fight with you or fight against you? And so this is why this is the most important thing that you can do for a loved one who has an addiction. Your prayer life is the most important thing that you can do. I can't tell you the amount of Christians that will come up and say, well, I pray, I mean, at least I do, at least I can pray. Hear me this morning, it is not just a prayer. Talk about opening a portal, you are opening a portal into the heavenlies of the very one that created that son or that daughter that I promise you, he loves them far more than you. And he's been waiting for a Christian, for a son or daughter, just like that man in our opening scripture that began to carry,

he said what, your faith has made you well, your faith has, now your sins have been forgiven, your faith, church, your faith in your prayers begin to open the heavens and put a response on heaven to be released over that cousin, over that friend, over that son, over that parent, over that spouse. Your prayer life is the most important thing, do not stop praying, do not stop praying. The enemy will tell you, God's not hearing, it's not working, the Lord rebuke you, Satan. Back to your prayer closet, back in driving to work and you're praying for that person, you will see, come on, I feel such faith in me, you will see the bondages of addiction broken off your family this year, church. You will see it this year, broken off of your loved ones. Many of you have been praying for years and years and I bind every lying demonic spirit that has told you that your family will not have breakthrough, try to make you feel like you don't have control, but God does, God does. You're gonna see it this year. Listen, yes, their behaviors are selfish and frustrating. But the demons of addiction work hard to protect you to keep you from them. If you're a demon of addiction, do you want strong Christian parents, siblings, friends, pastors around your slave to addiction? No. So that demon works on over time to offend you with them, to stop believing for their freedom, to cut you off, to say horrible things through them to you. But all of this feeds into the demons of addiction. This is exactly what they want. They want all healthy people, all spiritually sound, strong Christians, broken out of relationship from that

person so that you stop fighting for them. If you have ever been offended by somebody who is in addiction, I can promise you this, it is a demon that is working through them. So we don't enable their behaviors, we don't enable a sin, we don't put down our guard and act as if the addiction or what they are doing, the substance abuse is okay, but we never stop praying and spiritually warring for them. This is why we do not enable them. If you enable, you pretend the marijuana, smoking, gummies, whatever is okay and it's not a big deal, so they come around, you know this is enabling them. They should know, I do not want this in my house, I do not support this, I am believing for your freedom, I am praying and fasting to you and my doors are always open, but you better never bring that stuff in here baby or that door is going to be locked. But it will be open back up again the time you want freedom, the time you want to go to church with me, the time you want me to lay hands on you with some oil, you're gonna be set free. There has to be truth that is shared with those, so that you are not enabling, but you are setting them up for freedom. Boundaries are absolutely necessary. Boundaries must be set. I have a lot of notes in there, but I gave you, I just gave you an example of a boundary that you might set for them. If there's an alcohol addiction, but you want to love on them in Thanksgiving, you just let them know we're not gonna have alcohol this Thanksgiving, because you know it's a struggle of theirs, but you're gonna make sure that they get there and you're holding hands at that dinner table, you are lifting up Thanksgiving and prayer so that they have an encounter with God while you are with them. Demonic voices will also try to manipulate you. Listen, if you create space, if you lay that boundary, they're gonna overdose, it's gonna be your fault, this is demonic. You're enabling is what can push them into an overdose, not you telling them the difference between what is right and what is wrong. Do not allow the demons of addiction to manipulate you or to begin to lower your conviction between what you know is right and wrong, amen? And then of course, keep fighting for them. Worship team, come up. Keep loving them. Keep forgiving them. Keep praying for them and believing for their breakthrough. I'm gonna tell you a story about what my

freedom looked like. I told you that I did every drug that there was. I remember one time I was trying to smoke weed with friends, and I go to pass me the pipe, there's a season which I wrote in my book, Unscarred, you can get it, it's in the bookstore, it's a book of freedom, teach you how to write your testimony, it's a book of deliverance, there's a prayer of landline in there. Listen, I remember they went to hand me the pipe, and the whole room freezes, and I begin to hear these voices asking me questions. Is this what you want to do with your life? Is this what you pictured your future to look like? And it's like a reel of questions playing over and over in my mind. And it was like this out-of-body experience. I didn't even know at this time that God could speak to you. I have no idea what type of encounter I'm having. And after this reel happens, or as a reel is happening, I hear this in the background, no, no, no. Almost like the Holy Spirit was teaching me permission to say no to things I didn't desire. Sometimes some of us just need permission. Just say no to the demon. Just say no to the substance. Just say no to the friend. And the second that this reel stops, everybody that seemed frozen in the moment, I see. And I'm looking at them, and they're looking at me like all weird, and I go, no. And they're like, we think you're already high. Just go ahead and smoke. and I said no I'm done I quit and I just begin to don't don't clap don't clap I just begin to yell awkwardly in this dorm room no I'm done they begin to laugh and mock me I got up so ticked off with like this righteous anger for a first time what type of friends sit there and mock me when I say I'm done doing a drug I got up and I was mad one of them follow me I said listen to me I am done I'm never touching it again it was a couple months just prior to this moment that I had been out with friends driving around from party to party to party I can't even tell you the amount of drugs that I had done I'm snorting cocaine lines I'm popping pills in ecstasy I'm drinking and we're going from party to party and it was this anger and rage that would drive me for the things that have been done to me in my life and some of you need to understand what's the root there's a root there's a what we would the world would call a trigger but

it's a root and it's a thing that keeps pulling you back to it and this anger would have me so passionately foolish to just take as much as I wanted whatever I wanted well the cops come to one of the parties and my friend who's a drug dealer he has a big old bag of ecstasy with him and as we're running to the truck for it to pull out he dropped it and didn't know and he runs it over and he crushes it we go to the next party and he realizes that we're there then all of his thousands and thousands of dollars of drugs are gone and missing so we go back to that place when the cops are gone we pick up the bag and we realize it's all crushed to powder we're so high we're so drunk at this moment in time that there's no wisdom whatsoever in us and he says well it's not worth anything now why don't we just start snorting lines and it begins to make line after line after line after line and in foolishness we're snorting line after line after line we go to this next house one of his buddies apartment building and this is where everything shifts I remember the stairs up to the apartment and I can't physically walk up them so I grab a hold of the railing and I'm trying to pull myself up the stairs and I remember one of my friends saying Heather are you okay and I was like oh yeah yeah I'm fine why and I'm pulling myself up the stairs we get in there they begin to break open the pipe and go to smoke weed in the kitchen again and this is the moment that for the first time I feel conviction that I hadn't felt in years a little little two-year-old little girl runs out of the kitchen and I don't know if it's just cuz it was an innocent being but I saw her and I thought what is she doing around us she can't be around us and for the first time I realized I acknowledge what I'm doing is wrong so when they go into smoke I go in to comfort this little girl because I'm overwhelmed that she's around us and I sit on the couch this high person out of my mind trying to comfort a two-year-old Jesus and I go to reach out for her and I realize I'm seeing multiple of her I cannot find her I'm reaching out over and over and over and I can't find her so I I think really hard to muster out the words that tell her come to me so she comes she sits next to me I put my arms around her and within seconds I hear my friend say

Heather oh my gosh are you okay and I black out the story that I'm told of what happens next is that the dealer and that friend pick me up and take me to the car to take me home my friend's house was first so he's dropped off so it's now just me and the dealer that's in the car and as he's taking me home he sees me begin to foam at the mouth and he's like this girl is dead I cannot bring her home I'm gonna go to jail for this so instead of taking me home he turns the car back around and takes me to downtown Seattle and he finds an abandoned apartment where he leaves me for dead like trash on the bottom of an apartment floor three days three days I laid there on that apartment floor I believe lifeless with all of my mind believe I believe I was dead I have no remembrance of those days I had no consciousness but on that third day on that third day I hear a commotion in the living room I was tracked down by a bunch of people calling somebody else to find me and they're fighting because my friend thinks i'm dead he's fighting with a dealer and i remember hearing him i thought i just have to move if i can create the door or something they won't leave me here and the door creaks so they run in they pick me up they bring me home my parents bring me the doctor they do the blood work and i'll never forget the doctors walking in and looking at me and they said heather you are a walking dead woman you should not be alive you have more drugs in your system than what you kill three grown men for the first time in my life in years i began to cry what i believe that i didn't recognize at the time is a fear of god hit me do you know from this day forward i didn't even realize this god delivered me where i never touched another drug again from this day forward he healed me he set me free until three months later i meet a man ah i meet a young man that never touched a drug alcohol in his life who was a virgin and he said you gotta come to church and i went to a church a pentecostal church everybody stand to your feet and i enter into this pentecostal church with these church mamas and they're and all of their what do you call them church moms the tambourines i looked at jazzy she hates tamarines and let me tell you this i didn't understand what was happening around me like some of you maybe in this room you see people wild for god and you don't understand what's going on but i'll tell you what i felt a presence that i never felt in my life i felt a power i had never felt in my life and i remember i saw other people with their hands lifted so i just went like this

i went like this and the second i went like this i felt a wave of god's breath i felt a wave of god's peace like some is just going to begin to wash over you a peace wash over me that i never felt in my whole life and i said god if this is the peace of your presence i want this to be the new addiction of my life every day and god in that moment began to fill voids begin to heal anchor begin to heal things in me that this morning god wants to touch he wants to heal not just an addiction but the root he wants to heal your mind of what the drug has done to you he wants to heal the shame that the addiction is that the addiction is bonnie he wants to heal and restore second corinthians 5 17 and make you into a new creation like he did me where it says behold the new has come so if that is you this morning that you say today is the day that i stop serving and being a slave to the demons of addiction get down to this altar get down here this morning come on if today is the day that you say whether it's pornography whether it's lust whether it's alcohol whether it's pharmaceutical drugs pain pills antidepressants marijuana get down to this altar because freedom freedom is coming oh i know there's more of you oh god i intercede for those with secret addiction i intercede with those of secret addiction that today is deliverance day for this room today is deliverance day for the men and the women of this room to be set free to be set free come on keep coming down there's more of you there's more of you come on answer this call today you want freedom from pornography you want freedom from those gummies you want freedom get down here in our opening scripture in our opening scripture hear me there was four men that carried the paralytic to jesus see when you study the paralytic in biblical ancient days it was actually disease that brought it on and it was incurable so what they would do because it was incurable is they would go to witches potions for drugs and potions to try to cure but these four men and this one man said I'm gonna decide not to go to the witches not to go for the potions not to go for the addictions but I've heard about a man named Jesus I've heard that he can heal I've heard that he can deliver and they carried him on this bed and when they get to this house the Bible says there's

a crowd and when there was a crowd they could have decided we gotta go home we're not gonna get it ah hear me this is the picture of the church this is the picture of Christians right here they decided we are all in for the healing and deliverance of this man and they shoved through the crowd some of you that are loved ones in here that you know the one you're standing next to is bound and addicted you need to grab a hold of their hand right now and you need to push through a crowd and you need to get down here but these four men they said no no no no no we're not gonna just push through a crowd we're gonna go up the stairs we're gonna go to the top of the roof we're gonna rip the roof off we're gonna rip the roof off to get this one man to the healer and Jesus says because of your faith your sins are forgiven and then he heals him come on some of you are still bringing friends down to the altar spouses down to the altar that need to be down here for any type of addiction come on people are throwing their stuff up here whatever you need to throw throw it up here get rid of it come throw it up here and then here's the picture for all of those of you where the enemy is trying to put shame on you because of your addiction the religious ones begin to point and say but Jesus he's at the table with sinners the Bible says that many sinners follow Jesus all because the sinners recognize the light the sinners recognized a healer the Bible said that Jesus said in response to the Pharisees all see it's the sick or those that need to be made well that find need in me I didn't come to call the righteous I came to call the sinners this is what's gonna happen when you get down here not only are you going to receive supernatural deliverance and healing but there is gonna be a holy exchange that is released where the call of God is going to begin to stir in your belly like it never has before oh there's gonna be an awakening in you to life and what he's called you to do there's gonna be an unlocking I'm gonna just testify for a second cuz it's about to get radical it's about to get radical Thank You Holy Spirit your healer fill your glory I want you to understand this is not emotionalism I'll begin to lay hands on the first
