The Pathway To Success Pt. 15

Let's go to the word of God. Our foundation scripture for this series says in Joshua chapter 1 verse 8, the New King James Version says, this book of the Lord shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, your way. And I want to tell you today how long that way is. It ain't a short way. God got a long road of prosperous for you. And then you will have what? Somebody say good success. That's what we're after, good success that comes from God. Now, before you seated, I want you to repeat these words with me. I'm really cool, kind of cool. No, I don't want you to repeat that. I'm going to tell you when to start repeating that to me, but I'm going to give you the background on repeating this because I'm kind of cool with you being quiet this message if you want to be quiet, but I at least need you to make some noise right now. And I need to, I just need to know if you're listening and you're really attentive to this moment. Your focus matters. All right. So if you agree with what I'm about to say, repeat it after me. You ready? And use your outdoor voice for this. Lord, use this time in your word to instruct me, to guide me, to grow me and to help me make it personal in Jesus name. Amen. And father, I pray for an anointing from you that makes preaching easy and effective. We bind the works of the enemy right now that you'll make every effort null and void. We speak peace over every mind in the name of Jesus. And we pray that you'll keep your people from being distracted in Jesus name. Amen. You may be seated. This is part 15 of this series. get the word. Amen. I want to talk about two things today. I want to talk about the word longevity. Everybody say longevity. And then I want to talk about the importance of conquering your enemies in your pathway to success. You're going to have to be successful at conquering your enemies. Now, when God told Joshua in Joshua chapter one verse eight, that I'm going to give you good success and I'm going to make your way prosperous. That was not meant to be 15 minutes of fame, Pastor Green. It wasn't meant to be a flash in the pan. What God is saying, I will give you sustained, sustained success. That it's going to be over the course of your lifetime. Longevity. I'm so good and I believe God is giving that to people in this room now. People listening to this series, that you're not just supposed to have a window of success. God's going to make your whole life work. He's going to make your whole life go up. Let me show you where I get this. Go to Joshua chapter 13. Now, now, now in Joshua chapter 13 verse one, the Bible says when Joshua was very old. Now, I want to pause right there because when the Bible says you're very old, when the Bible says you're very old, it ain't, it ain't hyperbole. You up there. Joshua died when he was 110 years old in chapter 24. We believe when you do the math that in chapter 13, he was just shy of 90. And at that age, God says this to him, Joshua, you have grown old, but everybody say, but there's still much land for you to take control of. There's still much land. You almost 90. There's still a lot I got for you. There's still a lot I'm trying to do in your life. There's still a lot of advancement, a lot of promotion, a lot of rewards, a lot of success, a lot of victory. Your pathway to success was not just meant for your forties in your latter years, in your nineties. I'm still going to bless you. I'm still going Bless you in your 80s and in your 70s and your 60s. See, somebody, everybody can't get this. You gotta have some age on you to appreciate that word. I got a word for somebody. I got a word, this is prophetic. You are not gonna be in the way. The devil is a liar. You are not gonna grow old and be a nuisance to everybody. Your life is gonna count in your 50s, in your 60s,

in your 70s, in your 80s, in your 90s. I speak over you right now that there's still much more that God has for you. I know you're not what you used to be, and I know you mean to have the strength you used to have, and I know you gotta take a lot of naps every day because I take them myself, but I'll prophesy to you that when you wake up, you're like Superman coming out the Clark Kent situation. God's gonna use you because I'm telling you, your wisdom alone is valuable. You know too much, you've survived too much, you've come through too much. Your testimony is a treasure. I want you to take 10 seconds and praise God that first of all, he lets you grow old. How about that? God says, Joshua, you grew old. Somebody needs to stop complaining about being old and start thanking God that you let me grow old. You let me get old. You didn't let my life get cut off. It should've been cut off. It should've been cut off when I got so high I didn't know where I was. When I was so drunk, I don't know how I got home. When I put things in my body that should've destroyed me, when I was messing with people that could've killed me, but somebody owes God a praise right now because in spite of the fact that you was as wild as you was

you are still here and you've grown old. Give him praise. I grew old. I grew old. I grew old and with long life, he shall satisfy me. It's not over and he's still gonna use me. Amen, amen. I need all the people over 50 to high five somebody and say I'm still here and it ain't over. I still got something to add. I still got some value to give. I still got some victories to have. I still got some mountains to climb. I still got some deals to make. I may not have what I used to have. I may not be as strong as I used to be, but the devil is a liar. I'm still here and God is still going to use me. Some stuff ain't even good till it get old. They charge more for it the older it is. I was at a place one time that specializes in steaks and I looked at the price. I said, how does this, it's aged. I'm thinking if it's old, it's spoiled. They said, no, the old, this aged. And when it's aged, it has a better taste to it. It has more class to it. It has more worth to it. It's over, it's silliness. It's over, it's foolishness.

I've learned too much. Who am I talking to in here? I've come too far down. You can't get me to cheap, I'm valuable now. He says, I got much land for you. I got much to do in your life. And watch this, watch this, watch this. I'm not gonna do it the way I used to do it. Let me show you, let me show you God's strategy. Let me show you how God's going. The strategy of God giving you longevity in your elder years. Because check this out, check this. He has always done it for older people. Like this is not a new phenomenon. In Exodus chapter seven, verse seven, Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83 when they went to Pharaoh and said, let my people go. Now Moses, 80 some years was like, I ain't, I ain't. Abram was 80, was 75 years old when he started his journey to success. His wife and him were 90 and 100 respectively when they had the chosen child. I said 90 and 100 when they had a baby. Let me speak to some of y'all senior citizens and y'all keep taking these little trips. You better be careful. You don't mess around, find out. You don't come back, have to get a car seat and a stroller. Noah was 480 years old when he started building the ark.

600 when the rain came. Anna, 84 years old, still praying and fasting and working in the temple. John the Apostle was 90 years old when he wrote, he was in his 90s when he wrote the book of Revelations. Daniel, 80 years old, he was in his 80s when he spent the night in the lion's den. Caleb was 85 years old in Joshua chapter 14, and he said, give me this mountain, and went out and fought himself. Moses lived to be 120 years old, and the Bible says he was still strong and had good vision. I'm telling you, God still has something for you to do, even as you age. But here's his strategy. In chapter 13, verse one, he says, I still got a lot of land for you. I don't have time to read it. Verse two to five, you can read it when you get time. He tells him what that land is, and he starts giving him the scope of the land that in his 90s, I'm gonna give you. Ooh, that's so good. And ooh, see, some of y'all need to catch this boy. God's trying to get you to something. He's trying to get you to places and things that he wants you to take. See, in faith, faith has to take things that belong to you. Some of you can't get to your promised land because you wait on somebody to give you something.

But the Bible says the kingdom of God suffers violence, and the violence, there's some things you're gonna have to take, and in his 90s, God gives him this promise that I'm gonna do this, and in verses two to five, he tells him the land, but watch verse six. Joshua 13, verse six, God says this. He says, I myself will chase out all the people. And he tells him all the people he's gonna chase out. He says at the end of the verse, you must give this land to the tribes of Israel. So God says, I'm gonna do the chasing. You do the giving out. Watch this now. You, watch this. I'm gonna chase the people out. I'm gonna drive them out, but you're gonna give and distribute the land that I'm gonna chase the people out of. Now, here's what I don't understand about it. When Joshua was young, he was a warrior. He chased the people out. His vitality and fighting ability allowed him to chase them out, but God understood where he is now, and he's almost 90, and God says, I'm gonna chase them out, because I don't need what you had. I'm gonna use what you have. Ooh, y'all missed that right there. God is not expecting you to be able to do what you did in your 40s. He don't need you to have the strength you had in your 30s.

He don't need to strip you out of your 50s. He says, I'm gonna do this for you that you can't do, but I'm gonna use you to do what you can do, and whatever you're lacking, I'll make up for it, because God is a master of using what we got left, and some of y'all are stuck on what you don't have anymore, and I can't walk like I used to, and I can't get around like I used to. Who cares? God will use what you got left, but you have to make yourself available and get out of your mind that you're retired. I rebuke that, and how you gonna retire? How you gonna be retired and ain't got no time? What you doing? It's okay if you stop working somewhere that you worked for a long time, but how you gonna retire on the king and his kingdom? You gotta get out of your mind that all my work is done. It's on y'all now. That's not true. God wants to use you for the rest of your life, and he's got stuff, and all you have to do is say, I'm available. Here I am. What's my assignment? What's my kingdom assigned? You're gonna be amazed at what God can use you to do if you get over who you used to be. Amen.

Let me get to my next word before I run out of time. What I noticed, Pastor Sean, is there's a pattern in the Bible where there'll be something God's trying to give people access to, to take, like a promised land, but in between the person and what God's trying to allow them to take possession of is always an enemy. It's always there. God said, you're going into Canaan, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Ammonites, the Jebusites. Here's the promise. Here's the person. And the problem is, not the promise. The problem is there's an enemy. So you can't get to the promise without a fight. You must conquer your enemy. Now, what you have to understand spiritually is that your enemy is not the Ammonites. That was Israel's enemy. Your enemy is not always a person. Your enemy always is personal though. Sometimes your enemy is a personal vice that you have that if you don't conquer it, you can't occupy. because God is trying to help us occupy a space. And I speak this over our whole church. God is trying to give you new territory, new platforms, new promotions, new property, new land. He's trying to give you a lot of stuff, but you can't occupy it

because you haven't killed the enemy inside of you. That's, oh, y'all getting this, y'all understand? I wish I was at the fort right now. You have to understand that there's something blocking you from occupying the land. And there is something about what God is taking you to that is so different than anything else that it will not allow you to go in there with an enemy that you haven't overcome. That's why some of y'all are going through warfare and you've been wondering, why is the devil working so hard? It's coming at you from everywhere. And I'm telling you, the reason why the warfare is intensified is because you're on the perimeter of the promise. The reason why you didn't sense the enemy's attack is because you wasn't close to the enemy's property. But the closer you get to it, you start seeing Canaanites and you start seeing fights in your marriage and you start seeing petty stuff popping off and you start seeing sickness attack you. And y'all ain't ready for me today. And you see the enemy attacking your children. It's because you're close. Elbow somebody knees and say, I'm close. I'm close. I'm close. The devil is turning it up because I'm close.

But if you don't overcome what is in front of you, you can't occupy it. If you don't defeat it, you can't occupy it. And watch this. And if you don't drive out the enemy, you won't enjoy it. You'll just be in a new territory with an enemy. Ooh, let me come back to that. What does that mean? What does that mean? What it means is sometimes that enemy is fear. You can't occupy what he's holding, what he's got your name on because you're scared. All the devil got to do is make you scared. They ain't going to like you. They're going to turn you down. You're scared of rejection. You take no as final. You got to have a resilience to say, you might say no, somebody going to say yes. All I need is one yes. Your enemy might be your own insecurity, your lack of self-worth. You can't occupy his promise because you think too low of yourself. Who am I to deserve this? Let me tell you who you are. You're blood washed, born again, purchased by Jesus Christ. You're a royal priesthood. You're a chosen generation. Right now, we are the sons of God.

We are the sons of God. You're a chosen generation. Right now, we are the sons of God. And it does not appear what we shall be. But when we see him, we shall be like him. For we shall see him as he is. No weapon formed against me shall be able to prosper. And every tongue that shall rise up against me in judgment, I shall condemn. This is my heritage. And my righteousness comes from the Lord. I am a child of God. I am a joint heir with Jesus Christ. You better know who God says you is. Your enemy might be lust. Watch how many people sit down. Just get up, get up, get up. It's a flirtation spirit in this church. I know it. I know who you are and I know what you're doing. The only thing you're hurting is yourself because you can't occupy the promise because you want to be freaky. But you ain't gonna be able to go into the, oh, y'all ain't ready for this. You can't go in like that. You can't go in like that. There are certain places where you have to be dressed a certain way or they won't let you in.

You can't come in here with flip-flops and a torn up t-shirt and some baggy pants and some booty shorts on. You gotta look like what you're trying to walk up into. And some of y'all got a flirtation spirit and a lust spirit and you got an addiction. And if you learn how to, if you kill it, if you kill it, you can occupy. If you kill it, you can occupy. That's your enemy. Who am I preaching to here? That's your enemy. That's why God says I gotta teach you how to fight. I gotta teach you how to fight your enemy. See, sometimes God will keep an enemy in your life just to teach you how to fight. Let me go to Judges chapter three. In Judges chapter three, the Lord said another reason for letting these enemies stay, the Israelites needed to learn how to fight in war just as their ancestors had done. He says, each new generation would have to learn by fighting. You know what God's saying? I got a generation of Israelites that don't know how to fight. Their ancestors knew how to fight. And the only way I can teach them how to fight is they got to get in a fight. Ooh, I could preach that really easy right there. I could just go so many places with that. Some of us had to fight all our life to get what we got, but we raised children that don't know how to fight.

We had to work hard. We went to school and had a part-time job and was hustling on the side and was corn rolling here and cutting hair and washing cars and doing dishes and working in the cafe in the kitchen at the school to get some food in the cafeteria. But then we send our children to school on a full ride. That's why them little suckers don't know how to fight because they had a PlayStation in the room, got a TV in the room, got a cable in the room. But if you wanted to watch cable when you was a child, you had to go in the living room where everybody else was. You ain't had nothing in your room. That's why they don't know how to. And you thought you were helping them, but you disabled them. Who know I'm telling the truth in here. And we are raising a generation that don't know how to fight spiritually. They don't know how to rebuke the devil and plead the blood and bind up what the devil is doing. I announced to Zion Church Landover and Zion Church Woodbridge that we are in a war. And I don't mean I ran against the USA, I mean there's a spiritual war going on. The devil is coming after children. He's coming after marriages. He's coming after homes. He's coming after your health. He's coming after your mind. He's coming. And the kingdom of God requires a fight. Boy, I don't need everybody, I just need some people that understand and know how to fight. Where my fighters at in here? And I know it's hard on you when you're a parent and a grandparent to watch your child suffer, but you got to leave it alone. Stop jumping in that fight because God's trying to teach them how to, trying to teach them

how to fight. They grew up hearing I plead the blood and I rebuke that in the name of Jesus. They grew up hearing that stuff, but didn't think it was important. They thought it was spooky until the devil came after them. You learn something when it comes in your own property. You know, I didn't grow up in a church where they talked about warfare. I was in a nice little Baptist church. Amen. We was just nice people. Amen. Vicky grew up in a church like that too. But when Vicky got saved, when I'm grateful, I got a wife to know how to fight spiritually. It matters because when she got saved, she started handing around people that prayed in the spirit and rebuked the devil. And I used to think that was weird. I don't think that now because I do that now. Yeah. You're getting enough fights and get beat down enough. You start saying, wait a minute. My theology has not prepared me for this kind of fight. And my education and academia has not prepared me for this. I got to learn how to plead the blood and not just close stuff. You understand what I'm saying? My wife was fighting when we first got married. She put on our house, on the door of our house, she went out the front door and set the standard in our house. She put oil on the door, made a cross on the door to let the enemy know, you must pass by this house. And I thought it was cute. I thought it was a little different, but now I understand.

And I promise you for 20 years until we replaced the door, that same cross, that oil was still on the door through snow storms and sleet and hail and wind and sun because the enemy know this place belongs to the Lord. And I don't care how much money you make. I don't care how big your house is. You better have somebody in your house that knows how to fight. Now, some of y'all are too cute to do that at your house because you're worrying about what the homeowner's association is going to say and you're worried about what your neighbor is going to say. But what difference does it make what somebody thinks of you when the devil is coming after your family and coming after your marriage and coming after your money? You better learn how to fight, fight something. You got to touch somebody right now and say, we got to fight. We're just going to have to fight. Who worried about being cute when it's time to fight? Who worried about their earrings when it's time to fight? When it's time to fight, you ain't got time to be cute. And we're raising children who are in magnet schools and Montessori schools and private schools and charter schools. schools, taking AP courses, getting AA degrees when they get a diploma. Damien, how can you have a 4.4? I promise you my highest GPA was 2.4. How do you get a 4? How do you get a 4.4? They're smart. They know physics, but do they know how to plead the blood? They know STEM. They know science and technology and engineering and math. I ain't got no problem with that. But do they know how to rebuke the devil? Do they know how to claim their authority? Do they know who they are in Christ? Do they know how to fight in the spirit? And we're raising up people that don't know how to fight. And so they're 20 years old still saying, now lay me down to sleep. I pray to Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake, I pray to Lord my soul to take. Because you taught them that. And that's not even biblical. That's fable. First of all, if your theology is right, you don't have to pray to Lord your soul will keep. If you're saved,

if you die, to be absent from the body. It's to be present with the Lord. So you're scaring these kids by their bedside with bad theology. But God says, I want people who can fight. I need people who can fight. Y'all sit down. You make me nervous. Now let me show you what happens when you can't fight. Let me show you what happens when God's trying to give you something, but you won't kill what's holding you back. You're doing good right now. You don't even know what God's trying to give you if you will kill the enemy. Go to, go to, give me, give me, go to Joshua chapter 17. I'm almost done. But the descendants of Manasseh were, watch this. They were unable to occupy. Unable to occupy. Unable to occupy. God's got a promise. They are unable to occupy. I wonder how many of you are unable to occupy. I wonder how many of you are unable to occupy. It's not that there's not a promise over your life. It's not that there's not a contract waiting on you and a deal waiting on you and an opportunity. You're unable to occupy because you can't overcome the enemy. And let me tell you what the enemy will do. The enemy will tell God, well, you're going to bless him. He wild. You're going to bless her. She cuss all the time. Out of control, filthy pot mouth. Then her feelings always be hurt because he's the accuser of the brethren. And then look at how bad he's doing in the battle. Because when you don't know how to fight spiritually, you will fight physically. The reason why marriages get to physical abuse is because people don't know how to fight spiritually. We got too close. So if I can't fight spiritually, I'll fight physically. But the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but they're mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. And instead of throwing hands, if you throw your hands up to God and say, God, we need you. We can't work through this. We can't get an understanding. Heal what only you can heal. Because we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against powers and principalities and the rulers of the world's darkness. So watch this. Verse 12 says they couldn't occupy. Why? Because the Canaanites are determined to stay in their region. The devil is determined to not give you what God's promised you. But watch verse 13. You know why they can't occupy? Because they can't defeat the enemy, whatever the enemy is. But later, however, when the Israelites became strong enough. Somebody say, make me stronger, Lord. Watch this. When they became strong enough, they forced the Canaanites to work as slaves. But watch this. But they did not drive them out of the land. They defeated them, but didn't drive them out. Oh, there's a difference. I'm going to this in part 16. There's a difference between defeating an enemy and driving it out.

The fact that they defeated the enemy allowed them to occupy. The fact that they didn't drive the enemy out, they couldn't enjoy it. Because the enemy is still there. And guess what? They had to employ them. Because whatever you don't drive out, you're going to have to manage. What are you saying, pastor? I'm saying if you defeat the enemy you're dealing with, and let me tell you what the enemy is. The enemy is, this is how you know what the enemy is. It's whatever the devil is trying to keep you from, he will use your weakness to tempt you in that area. And the temptation will skyrocket. I mean, it's your weakness, so you don't need a lot of temptation, but it skyrockets. How many people understand what i'm saying it goes through the roof Because what the enemy is trying to do is disqualify you from the promise Because the enemy wants to turn your weakness into wickedness because you act out on it God wants to turn your weakness into warfare so you can learn how to fight it with the word and with worship and with prayer And rebuking and resistance and he doesn't just want you to defeat it. He wants you to drive it out So when god says I want you to occupy this land, he said kill everything in it Yes And if you don't kill it run them out of here And y'all don't like this, but god said kill the children too Kill the babies. Ooh See see you got to kill everything connected to your warfare your any any weakness you have you got to kill everything in it I mean cremate it and don't keep the ashes Some of y'all keep a little side relationship with something that god delivered you from but that's why you can't enjoy Where he's taking you because the devil got because you do watch this you're you're elevated But you're still fighting the same enemy because you didn't drive it out What you got to do is drive it up get get everything connected to it Don't give it access to yourself who understands what i'm talking about in here Now, let me show you this when you don't drive out the enemy. Let me show you this i'm done What time is it? Okay, i'm Go to judges go back to judges So in judges chapter three it says we i'm trying to help these children know how to fight

And then he talked about all their enemies so the people of israel They're supposed to be fighting defeating the enemy and driving them out It says they lived among the canaanites hittites amorites perizzites hivites and jebusites watch this they're living among them They're supposed to be driving them out What happens when you don't drive out the enemy that god told you to drive out watch this they intermarry with them Israelite sons married their daughters israelite daughters giving them marriages now. The enemy is family Now we have birthday celebrations together And you can pray in jesus name and they praying in the name of another god And the idol y'all ain't gonna look straight up at me How you doing online By the way, by the way, oh I got so much I want to say Then watch what happens next and not only did they intermarry they intermingled in idolatry. They started serving their gods You keep an enemy around if you want You won't be able to occupy and you certainly won't be able to enjoy it So I want to ask you everybody stand up i've been standing all this time standing Up because if you stand up it'll look like we're almost done I need to ask you a question because you already know what it is. What do you need to kill? I said you need to kill it You've been playing this what you say well this man everybody got a weakness It's just my little thing let me tell you something you are a child of god God Stop claiming something that ain't sure you you here's here's the kingdom of god righteousness peace and joy in the holy ghost That's the kingdom of god You keep giving yourself a pass to keep doing that And it's keeping you from occupying you wonder why can't I get a mortgage? Why can't I get a why can't I get a deal? Why can't I prosper? Why am I stuck? What do you need to kill? The enemy is always in front of next Kill it You'll be glad you did. I mean kill it And kill and watch this and kill connection to everybody that set you up and did it with you

Now what you gonna do about that? You ain't serious about promotion because you ain't serious about killing what's been comforting you Let me say this to all the seniors in here You Have to see yourself as valuable and viable to the day you die Wasn't just people in the bible ray crock was 52 years old before he even met the mcdonald's brothers 52 59 before he bought the company You still got deals to make Yeah Colonel sanders was 65 years old before He franchised kfc Sold it when he was 75 and for almost 20 more years went around teaching about it and promoting it How about this pando family Nelson mandela was 75 years old when he became the king of south africa The president of south africa after he spent 27 years prison. 27 years in prison, got out of prison, four years later he's the king. Just because you're locked up don't mean you ain't free, and don't mean God's done with you. My wife told me about a man named Chuck Swindoll, and I would get mad at her. She said, we got to, we got to get ready, we got to get ready to step off the scene. I ain't ready, I ain't ready. Anybody tell y'all I'm thinking about quitting, they lied to you. I'm just, it's just getting good to me. And when I heard this story, Chuck Swindoll started a church when he was 64. Passed the church for 26 years. When he was 90 years old and retired, he was still sprying in his right mind. I received that. I don't know which one of y'all in here think you next, but I'm going to 90 on this joint. I got 30 good ones in me. If I pace myself, I can't be here every Sunday for y'all. You ain't even here every Sunday. Then ask me where I am. Where you been? You do this every, you do this four times. I got 90 in me. I speak that, amen. For what? I ain't never had a job this good. I forgot what I was saying. Jimmy Carter died at 100 years old. His last day in office, he was

58. Now you do the math. You know what that says? After being the president, his 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s were some of the most productive years of his life. And I'm trying to tell some of y'all who think you're retired. You just, watch this, you ain't retired. You just getting paid for a job you ain't doing no more. You better find out what the next job is. And stop crying about, my kids don't need me anymore. My kids don't need me. That's a good. You've succeeded. They don't need you anymore. You should be happy. Find out where you are needed. I'm gonna close in prayer. Y'all sit down for a second. This is what I want you to do. We're about to have the right hand of fellowship here at Greenbelt, Landover, Fort Washington. People have made a decision to make this church home. This is a big deal.
