Taking a Look Under the Hood | Brian Tome

Hey this is BT, another lesson for us as I do this 1952 Dodge Power Wagon, a one-ton truck. Been working on the brakes. These are the brake shoes and when you press the brake they expand out and they go on the drum. Let me show you how it looks assembled. Right here is the drum. It's a brand new one because the old one was too far gone. I had them all painted nice and black and shiny but the problem was the inside of this drum was a bad surface for the brake shoes to scrape against and so I had to get these new ones. Very expensive. Here's the spiritual lesson. We get all concerned about the outside. The old ones look better because I had them nice and painted black but the inside had imperfections and was hurting the stopping power and the function of the truck. This is what the Bible means when it says men look at the outside but God looks at the inside. He says that in relation to King David as he was anointed king. Friends, let me tell you something. Everything in our culture tells us worry about the outside. Worry about your looks. Worry about your physique. Worry about your clothes. Worry about your likes. Worry about your brand on social media. Those things can be okay but what matters is what's on the inside. Do you have the right lining on the inside of your heart? The right stuff inside that helps you to stop your life and to go? Do not be fixated on the outside like everybody else is. Worry about the inside. That's a person of spiritual growth. That's the lesson from this 1952 Power Wagon Restoration.
