Street Smart | Proverbs 8 | Adam French

I saw this this week when I was reading Proverbs chapter 8 I thought that was somebody who was kind of like sheisty, right? If you if you bought you asked them to borrow five dollars and they pull out a big water cash and they give you one dollar bill Like man, that guy's tight like he doesn't want to share that he's kind of shrewd, right? Well, I did a study into this word. I want to read right here Proverbs chapter 8 in verse 5 the Bible says learn to be Shrewd you who are in experience develop common sense. You who are foolish that word shrewd is the same Hebrew word That's used in Genesis chapter 3 in verse 1 and guess who it's describing It's describing the serpent and the idea is that it's crafty, right? And think of it like this we want to be street smart for heavenly things You say what what does that mean? It means when you learn the word of God and you're able to apply it to your life when you get into these Situations where the enemies trying to trick you he's trying to fool you. He's trying to whisper lies into your heart You know, we would talk about this a lot that God likes to whisper and it's it's in the steel Calmless that we got to be still and we got to hear the voice of God and that is true But I want you to know the enemy has learned how to whisper as well Next little whisper these little lies into our head and then we start believing them and before we know it We start doing things based on what we heard from that whisper But when you know the word of God you have this craftiness, right? Think about this Matthew chapter 10 verse 6 Jesus says what he says be as wise as a Serpent and harmless as a dove. What is he talking about? He's talking about that same word right there He's talking about shrewd right and so Solomon when the wisest man who lived on planet Earth is those listen You need to have some street smarts about you But you need to have it grounded in the scripture be scripture street smart, right? And so when someone comes along and they try to bait you into a conversation that you know It's leading to nowhere when someone's trying to gaslight you to get you angry When someone's trying to get you to participate in something that has nothing to do with what God is doing in your life You know to pull back now when you hear that question that someone says man I don't know about I don't know about this. This is happening in my life or man. I just lost a loved one You know that's an invitation So not only do you you move away from the places you don't supposed to be you can lean in to where God is

Calling you it goes down in verse 12. It says I wisdom share a home with shrewdness So saw him in the wisest man ever listens listen wisdom and shrewdness wisdom and a biblical Craftiness share the same home. They share the same place. They live together right and so I encourage you say Well, how do I make it through a day? I live in a world I live in a place where everybody's trying to get something from you where I can't trust anyone I'm in crossword. I can't trust nobody Well, here's what you can do You can trust God and you can learn his word and you can begin to understand and see the people that have the same Heart as you you can begin to begin to build relationships with people that are grounded in the word of God and you can have a Craftiness right not for the world Right, we used to like for me I actually use a lot of that craftness in the street I actually use that that that craft is trying to get people to do what I want to get my own way But now we can use it for the things of God And you may be believing something you may have a resentment You may have started to try a train of thinking about someone that's not even true because the craftiness of the enemy Has planted a seed in your head to go against something that God has for you go against God's will for you So I'm saying listen my friend dear friend Please get into the word of God Please take everything before the Lord and if you have a trusted friend someone who's also in the word You can say hey man, I've been thinking this or I thought this and there's a man That's not that's not God or man. That is God. You need to lean into that So be thinking be looking not looking for people who are trying to get you But looking to see With wisdom where God wants you to lean into this or where God wants you to step back Thank you so much again for joining a word from the word
