¿Qué significa ser puesto a prueba?

Bien, listos? Bien, estoy listo. Hablaré sobre mi camino en las últimas 10 semanas y lo que ha pasado. Pero no, solo lo haré porque creo que estos principios son transferibles a lo que Dios está haciendo en nuestra iglesia y en ustedes. Si hoy es su primer día, por lo menos por hoy ya forman parte de nuestra iglesia, bienvenidos a Crossroads. Oremos antes de abordar lo que Dios nos tiene preparado hoy. Gracias por estar con esta gran gente y estos grandes amigos, grandes hermanos, hermanas, socios ministeriales y todo. Pido que nos visites con tu espíritu de forma especial y profunda hoy. Que me des las palabras correctas para encontrar a estas personas correctas en el momento correcto y que nos lleves a un nuevo lugar, como individuos y como iglesia. Pido estas cosas de acuerdo con el carácter y la identidad de Jesús. Amén. Amén. Amén. Jesus. A Bia Libros como evidencia que exige un veredicto que iban por ahí y luego hizo la transición a algún momento en los años 2000 hizo la transición a ministerios de compasión que cuando las personas ven cuánto amamos podrán recibir lo que decimos. Ahí empezamos como iglesia a bendecir a nuestras comunidades, no solo porque la Biblia dice que amemos al prójimo como a nosotros mismos.

Pero Tim creía que el lenguaje moderno era la identidad.

¿Quién eres y cómo descubres quién eres en Cristo? La identidad lo es todo hoy. Por eso hablamos de mi verdad, mi verdad, es decir, mi identidad. Tenemos política de identidad que trata de decir quién soy y yo siendo como soy. En Crossroads sabíamos que el run journey sería un éxito masivo porque era una forma de entender tu identidad. No creo que Jesús crea en la política de identidad, pero sé que Él cree en la espiritualidad de identidad. Y eso significa que venimos a Jesús. The good news is this, we come to Jesus not to get a little extra power to be more moral.

We don't come to Jesus to be able to overcome and compensate our problems on Saturday night. Come to Jesus for a new identity. The old me, the old problems, the old complexes, the old pains, the things that define us are dying, they are dead. And we are a new creation, we become Jesus, God looks at us and sees Jesus. It is spirituality of identity, it is not attractive, it is not wonderful that you can be someone new, it is incredible, God sees you like that. I obtained a new identity at birth, I was born at a very early age and then I was adopted. My biological mother gave me in adoption and I took the last name Tom at birth. I had that old identity for a moment and then the new Tom, Lucho, I only tell you, really Lucho. I am glad I was not adopted in the year 2026 because the new great trend in adoption is that you are integrated into a new family, maintaining contact and communication with your biological mother. That would have been terrible for me, it would be something horrible because when my parents corrected me or I had difficulties, if I could say, well, yes, but if my mother Susan was with me, I would get this, yes, but my parents say that, but if I were here having two divided identities, it would have been too much for me, I would not have been able to bear it. And there is a new love, a new acceptance, a greater level of love and empowerment. You have a new identity. The problem is that many of us want the old identity, we want the old because we understand and we realize what it really is. Our names reveal something of our identity, I am a Tom, that speaks of my identity. I like nicknames and I give them often, they are important to me, partly because I like

to laugh and joke. That is why I give nicknames, it helps me remember names, so Crossroads pastors are important. And I am going to tell you something about the correct name right now. The problem with my identities or nicknames is that they are cheerful and funny. But the identities of Jesus go to the core. Yes. Luke 22, verse 31. We will go into the background of what we see today. Luke 22. This is the last supper, the last one that Jesus has with the disciples before being arrested, judged, and crucified. And they are a little bit, the disciples are positioning themselves, trying to get closer to Jesus. They say important things. And Peter says things like, never, I will never deny you, saying those kinds of things. And Peter receives some words from Jesus. This is what Jesus says, verse 31. Simon, Simon. Look, Satan has asked you to sow, to have you, so that he can have you and sow you like wheat. But I have prayed that you have faith and do not fail. And when you have become, you will strengthen the brothers. I have known God deeply in the last ten days. I want to share the story of the most, the most significant. And of course, God has told me. It is based on this, on this passage. And it deals with identity. What that is. Jesus calls Peter by his old name, his old identity. Let's look at this right here.

Here is the name. Simon, Simon. This is the old name, the old identity. When Jesus gives him the name of Peter, I will call you Peter. And on this rock I will build my church. But when Jesus says to Peter, Simon, Simon, which is always of high intensity, industrial force, repeating the name twice, other times we will say Martha, Martha. The old school, the old biblical translation will say things like, desert, desert. I tell you, this is serious. Simon, Simon. Satan demands to have you and shake you like wheat. But I have prayed for you to be faithful. The last ten weeks were the most difficult in my life. They have never been ten weeks more difficult than the ones I have gone through. Cuando Satanás viene hacia ti, su jugada más efectiva es tu antigua identidad. Así es como te presionan.

La persona que siempre has creído ser, la persona de la que te sientes orgulloso, la persona que fuiste durante la primera mitad de tu vida, la persona con la que te sientes a gusto, la persona que es tu verdad y que defiendes, la persona, la vieja creación, la vieja creación. Y Él sabe que la forma más fácil de hacer eso es ir a tu equipo de nivel base, que es tu antigua identidad.

Mi vieja identidad es que soy un huérfano. Y los huérfanos sentimos que estamos solos y abandonados. Los huérfanos sentimos que estamos en un orfanato. Y debemos luchar por nuestra comida. Los huérfanos sienten que son olvidados. Los huérfanos sienten que no son dignos. Los huérfanos sienten que solo avanzan si tienen éxito o si siguen mejorando. Y al leer esto dije, oh, Dios mío. Satanás está ejecutando la jugada perfecta contra mí. Perfecta. Yo, mi identidad base, mi antigua identidad es que soy un huérfano. No soy un huérfano porque soy adoptado en la familia de Dios, pero tengo esa antigua identidad. Esto es perfecto para él. Esa es una jugada perfecta, perfecta para él. Satanás ha pedido zarandearte como trigo. Así funciona. En el pasado, cuando los humanos cultivaban, el trigo crecía y ese era el alimento básico fundamental, el trigo. Sé que ya he decepcionado a algunos de ustedes. Son intolerantes a la glucosa. Gluten, gluten, intolerante al gluten. Lo siento. Sí, habrías muerto en el primer siglo. Estás muerto. Lo siento. Estás muerto. Eres débil. Estás acabado. Estás muerto.

Cuando no entendemos que hay una entidad maligna haciéndote eso, vas a tener un no vas a entender tu vida. Andrew Delbanco hace años escribió, es profesor en la Universidad de Colombia, definitivamente no es creyente, no creo que crea en Dios, pero escribió la muerte de Satanás donde lamentaba que a medida que nuestra cultura se vuelve más ilustrada, él lamenta esto. Nos hemos vuelto más ilustrados. Ideas como Satanás ya no son de nuestro agrado, suenan ridículas. De alguna manera

nos hemos deshecho de Satanás. Es la muerte de Satanás. Y su argumento es que por lo tanto perdimos el concepto del mal. No entendemos cómo categorizar el mal porque lo hemos matado como concepto. Si educamos a todos serán felices. Y Daniel del Banco decía que no podemos hacer frente a los problemas de nuestra cultura porque hemos eliminado este concepto fundamental que ha sido parte de todas las civilizaciones o casi de todas ellas. Tienen que saber, amigos, les digo ahora mismo, tienen que saber que hay una fuerza personal que intenta manipularte y sabe que el medio más efectivo es jugar con tu vieja identidad, sea cual sea esa vieja identidad para asaltar esa identidad. Mira esto. Simón, Simón, Satanás pidió tenerte para zarandearte. A ti. No sé por qué mis cosas siguen. Tú te gusta el trigo. Esto está en plural. Todos los discípulos están siendo zarandeados. Todos ellos. Cuando escucho esta palabra de Dios que estás siendo zarandeado, él no está hablando solo de mí. A todos. Creo que así lo dice la Biblia. A todos. Mira, todos los discípulos siendo zarandeados, todos ellos están siendo zarandeados y todos según su vieja identidad. Simón es zarandeado en su vieja identidad. Tomás, Tomás, lo conocemos como Tomás el incrédulo. Dijo que si no tocaba las heridas de Jesús, no creería que resucitó. Su vieja identidad es dudar. ¿Y qué crees? ¿Qué crees? Todos son zarandeados de formas distintas. Judas era zarandeado. Judas falló. Cuando crecí en una especie de iglesia liberal, todos sentían lástima por Judas. Está más allá de mí. Odio decir que Jesús cometió un error en eso porque él no comete errores. Pero hay algo más pasando ahí. Entonces, ¿por qué? ¿Por qué Judas traicionó a Jesús con un beso? Porque su vieja identidad era el dinero y podía venderlo por plata. Así de simple. Tu mayor vulnerabilidad con Satanás y alejarte de Dios es que él sabe cuál es tu vieja identidad y tienes una. Está ahí y siempre está hablando todo el tiempo. A veces hay un asalto. where the evil comes to us. You will always derive to your old identity, instead of walking in the novelty of the new identity that God has given you. This is the Gospel. He does not define you, Boaz, that was you. He does not look for an improved version of you. He wants a new you. That is the new creation. He gives you a new name.

Friends, this is good news. And they don't seem very happy about it. They are like... To illustrate this, there was an article in the New York Times a couple of weeks ago about the GLP-1 drugs, the weight-loss drugs, like Osempic. And what are the others called? Wagyu and Jumanji. Or whatever all those things are called. I have a friend, his wife launched one of those drugs to lose weight. And he said that the secret of his was that they found a lizard on a remote island that only ate once a month. And there was an enzyme that they were able to discover and they incorporated that enzyme into the drug, which really suppresses desire. That way you don't think so much about eating if you have problems with food. That's what the New York Times put it. For those whose food is their old identity, and they don't stop thinking about it, maybe that's it. That's what they put it. They said, it's like a tireless auctioner. You know, there's a cake in the kitchen. Hey, hey, there's a cake in the kitchen. Hey, don't you want the cake in the kitchen? And you keep on talking about it all the time. It's there. It's there.

And your old identity will do this in many different ways. If it's money, it will be a financial decision. More money, more money. It will all be filtered with money. If it's a beautiful body and people think that I am beautiful every decision is based on how it will make me look. Even when I walk in front of the mirror. If I feel good, I will look at myself and say, woohoo. If I feel bad about myself, I won't look at the mirror, because my old identity is constantly, I have to have more clothes, I have to have things, I have to use lotions, I have to do all of that, because that's the identity. If the identity is an orphan, I'm always competing with people. If the identity is whatever, you know which one is yours. I'm just giving you examples. It happens all the time. It's part of why if you've been in crossroads, if you've been here the last 10 weeks, you react. You react to my situation and to that of the church in a different way according to your old identity. If you have an old identity, just say, the pastors of mega churches,

do they have a secret sexual sin? I know they do. I know they do. Man, fall for that. You're like, yes. And then others of you are like, I am, I am. You need it. And now, first of all, I'm sorry. I never wanted to be your celebrity model. Your name is Jesus. I'm not going to take your place. But for some, this has been a shake. Like, wow, what am I going to do now? What will I do? Because the old identity had that and needed it. For some, the old identity is anti-authority. The authority is wrong. It's always wrong. It's wrong. And so the church sucks. They don't know what they're doing. If your old identity is money, how the hell are you going to survive this place financially without the founder? How is that? Everything. Everything revolves around money. If your identity is Dudley Doughwright and Paul Leanne of Pure Heart and you've never seen anything other than a movie for the general public,

incredible, you're in Crossroads. But if that's you, if that's you, you're like, wait, what did the guy with the scarf do? Like, boom, you know, God, because your identity wouldn't have any for that. Now again, Satan is here. This isn't, this isn't a name. It's a description of a position. It's what he does. It's what he does. And he says to Peter, and when you come back, when you convert, when you repent, If you regret it, by the way, the first you is plural. when you repent, when you repent, when you repent, The second, the second is singular. when you repent, The disciples are arrogant, but Peter said, I do it personally for you. I need you to be faithful. All Crossroads is being arrogant. You must take this as personal. Everything in your life, you must take it as personal. You must stop bothering yourself by the infidelity of someone you may know and start worrying more about your own fidelity.

You can't control someone else's fidelity. You can control yours. That's why Jesus says, I'm praying for you. You and He are praying for you right now. He is interceding for you before the Father right now so that you may be faithful. And what does that mean? When we return, when we move away from the old identity, we move away. He will use us in a new and powerful way. Here is the incredible thing about this. Peter, oh God, you are never called Simon after receiving your new identity until now. You are called Simon the next time you interact with Jesus on the beach. It's as if Jesus were redeeming that and giving him a mission. He asks him three times, do you love me? Be patient, my lambs. Be patient, my sheep. Be patient, my sheep. Do this. I could do a whole series of this. I don't have time for that. So look at this. This is incredible, incredible. It appears again in Acts 2. It's when the Holy Spirit pours over the church, over those who proclaim Jesus as Savior.

It's when the Holy Spirit no longer empowers only a few, but enters all the members of God's family. Therefore, when God looks at you, if you have that new identity, He doesn't even see your old self. He sees Jesus. He sees that identity. He sees that holiness. He doesn't see the trash you made last night. He's conscious, but he doesn't see it. He sees Jesus. That's the gospel. You'll say, that sounds weird. I know it sounds weird to you because your old identity doesn't want you to understand it. That's how it works. Turn around, turn around. When I did it, listen to me. I've heard that it was horrible that the church made you regret publicly. Listen to me, listen to me here. The other thing that God clearly told me in the second week was that I should regret publicly. He told me. I said, yes. He said, yes. I want to give you the details. He said, yes. It was my idea. And it was all my words,

unedited, for no one. And a lot of people had a problem with that. Do you know what problem people have with my regret? People who don't regret. Can you identify the last thing you regretted? Can you identify the last thing you turned away from? People with an old identity never change. They just justify where they are. They just explain where they are. They never change anything. It's something powerful when someone turns around. It's something powerful when someone does that. So Peter turned around in this situation. Jesus said, look at this. Jesus said, and he has heard it said on more than one occasion. He says, if you deny me before men, I will deny you before God. Peter is following Jesus, who is being taken to be judged. He is following him. And on three different occasions, the last occasion is chilling. Someone says to him, you, you are one of his followers. You knew him. And Jesus says, no, I don't know him. I don't know that guy. And Jesus hears. And he turns around and looks at him.

I think about that. One of Jesus' close friends, in his worst times, he hears him say, no, I don't even know him. I don't even know that guy. At the same time, you have Peter, when he does that and knows what has happened, he says, oh my God, what have I done? The level of shame he would have when he falls into his old identity. And 50 days later, knowing that Jesus said, deny me before men, I will deny you before my Father. And 50 days later, when the Holy Spirit descends and pours out on a group of people who become the church, and the people are empowered supernaturally and begin to speak languages that they had never learned before. Not for a great experience, but because God gave them a new language to share the good news with others of that language. It says there that Peter was standing next to the eleven. And so the twelve were standing and commissioned Peter to speak and explain what was happening, because they heard Jesus speak about the coming of the Helper. Think about this. 50 days before, it's marked for hell. At least that's what Jesus seemed to say.

Solo he tenido un corazón por los que sufren. Cuando tuve mi vida, porque he sufrido y quise salir de mí mismo, dejar de pensar en mis cosas. Así que hago cosas que no había hecho antes, como encontrar en Facebook a alguien que me sigue y está en el hospital. Pienso, he hecho una visita al hospital. No sé quién es esta persona. Un tipo que conozco va al campamento de hombres y digo, voy a visitar el hospital. Así que voy a visitar el hospital. Entro y dicen, porque ya sabes, no quieres que te visite en el hospital porque si voy, vas a morir. Las cosas están realmente,

las cosas están realmente, realmente mal. Pero no es esta situación, es algo menor, dicen. He hecho consejería matrimonial por teléfono. Generalmente no me ha gustado hacer eso. Generalmente no soy bueno en eso, pero solo estoy tratando de salir de mí mismo porque él le dice a Pedro, cuando te vuelvas, ministrarás a los hermanos. Una vez que te sientes seguro de nuevo en tu identidad, Dios te utiliza para ministrar y bendecir a los demás. Eso es lo que quiere. Tuve un amigo aquí en el primer servicio. Se llama Jim. Lo conocí jugando baloncesto hace tiempo. Y su hijo murió la semana pasada. Él me llamó y me llama predicador, es su apodo para mí. Y lloramos por teléfono, solo lloramos. Hablábamos llorando y le dije, ya sabes, hombre, lo loco es. Nunca pude llorar y hablar antes porque no lloré lo suficiente, pero en las últimas 10 semanas he llorado lo suficiente para entenderlo. Nos reímos de eso. Y ya sabes, solo tener un corazón para él para poder ministrarle. Eso es lo que sucede cuando te sientes seguro en tu identidad y das la vuelta. Te digo una cosa, todos queremos un despertar. Queremos que Dios haga algo en nuestra región que vaya más allá de lo que tú puedes fabricar

con tu propio poder. Queremos un despertar. La oración sola no traerá un despertar, no lo hará. Leer la Biblia no traerá un despertar, no lo hará. Cumplir tu compromiso de 10X mayor no traerá un despertar, no lo hará. Lo que traerá un despertar es que todos nosotros hagamos un cambio. Todos cambiamos y a la gente que nos rodea les decimos, quiero ministrarte, quiero bendecirte. No solo esta gran organización sin fines de lucro, sino yo quiero involucrarme con mis vecinos, mis trabajadores. Eso es lo que Dios quiere de ti. Y eso es lo que Dios quiere para ti. Todos hacemos eso y crecemos en esa identidad. Vaya. Está bien, basta para llorar. Dios, gracias por hoy. Gracias por hoy. Gracias por esta gran gente.
