- Good morning, men and women. 'Cause I've been round and round and round and round, and the system of just drugs and crime, and kept getting caught up, and wanted to change, and wanted to do better, and then I'd end up back there again, and I just share that with you, 'cause I understand the frustration, and the pain, and the anxiety, and the disappointment that comes with being back in prison again. I know most of you that are watching, this is not your first rodeo. If it is your first rodeo, I'm really glad you're watching, but I want to encourage you, man, never give up anything as possible with God. I had 100 million reasons to wanna just throw in the towel, and honestly, I had thrown in the towel, and God stepped into my story. August 11th of 2021,

I was back out, I was on drugs, living in hotels, sewing dope, shooting dope, hitting licks, just trying to keep this thing going. It was dark, darkness. They just kept getting darker. I knew I was about to head back to prison for my fifth time. Eventually, it was just a matter of time. I was depressed. Man, and God stepped into my story. He started to download thoughts and his ideas to me, and he began to speak to me. I couldn't hear his voice, but it was just in my heart, like a download, it's what I call it. And what he was saying was, "Hey, man, if you wanna stop, "just get up and leave this room, and I got you." That was it over and over and over again. And I was like, "Man, is that God, "or is that the fact that I haven't slept in like five days?" I'm hard-headed, 'cause I've been told all my life, it's gonna be a monumental effort to overcome addiction. You're gonna have to go to some treatment center or do some program, or do some thing, or go to prison, or, you know, like, could it be that easy? Just get up and leave this room over and over and over again. I fell asleep. Finally, one time, he gave me a dream, and in this dream, I was getting arrested again.

I was sitting in Dallas County Jail. I could see myself from above, and I could feel everything I was feeling in that moment. And it was just a tremendous amount of regret, because I was like, "Man, "like God was trying to get my attention, "and I ignored him. "And now here I am going back to prison again." Wonder what would have happened if I had just gotten up and left that room, but dang, it's too late now. You know, that moment before you even see the judge and you don't even know what your charges are, that was the moment, and it was so real, and I was so depressed, and I was so regretful. Like, I'd let the opportunity of a lifetime pass me by, and then I woke up. You ever had one of those dreams where it was so real, you wake up, and it's like, what's the first thing you say, right? Thank God, you know? Thank God is the first thing that comes to our mind. When we avert tragic situations, why is that? It's just in us, man. And so I got up, I gave away a whole lot of drugs, walked out of that room, and I've been walking with him ever since, he's been true to his word. He said, "Get up and leave this room when I got you." And he had me, he opened door after door after door after door, and here a little bit, over five years later, I'm leading a prison ministry at Life Fellowship Church,

speaking to you guys, but I remember being there for my fourth time, wondering, "Is this it?" You know, "Is this gonna be my life?" You know, over 20 years, I've done nine and a half of it, locked up, and so, man, being encouraged. I want you to hear my story and be encouraged. I want you to hear my story right now if you're on something, if you're on K2, if you're on whatever, it's rolling through there, and you don't think there's any hope in stopping, man. Be encouraged, maybe God's asking you to get up and leave a room, or maybe he's asking you to do that in your heart, metaphorically, whatever that looks like. Man, for me, it was drawing a line in the sand, man, and saying, "Man, I'm not going back." It felt like I was jumping off a cliff when I gave all that dope away, man. What are you doing? You're not going to stay clean. You just gave all that away. I just had to find out, man, and what I found out was that it was exceedingly and abundantly above everything I could think or ask. I had to do a lot of work. This walk in this narrow road is hard. It's hard, man. If your walk is easy, you might not be on the narrow road because the scripture says that many search for this road, but if you find it, it's a difficult road. But I want to encourage you, and you can get on that road right now, right to second. You can do that.

He keeps asking me to lay things down as I walk. It's a constant battle. It's a constant fight. It's constant forgiveness. It's constant loving people that are not lovable. It's not easy, but it's so fulfilling. I just want to tell you guys, man, he has a plan and a purpose for you, Romans 11, 29, the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. That means they can't be changed or stamped out or taken away or edited. He has a calling for you, okay? But we have to choose to step into that calling. I had to choose to walk out of that room and give all that dope away and then do a whole lot of other things that I don't have time to talk about now. So be encouraged, man. There's a calling on your life. Are you going to step into it? Are you going to step into it? We're in a series, an amazing series, a series in the life of David. I hope you guys enjoy this message. could be like if you just got all the way in one time. You've been to 100,000 church services, you've been baptized every time, they've rolled it out in prison, but you never got all in, Logan. Imagine what could happen if you just got in one time and I can tell you, man, it's way better than I could have ever thought. So I hope you guys are encouraged. Hope you guys enjoy this message. I want to pray for you guys. Heavenly Father, I thank you for the men and women that are watching. I thank you that your word says no one comes to the Father unless he is drawn to him. So just the fact that they clicked on this video today, God, I want to just let them know that's proof that you're drawing them, you're after them, you've left 99 to go find them. You love them, you created them fearfully and wonderfully made. You think about them as much as the grains of sand on this planet. You have a calling for them, you have a plan for them. You have an amazing purpose for their life, even in the place that they're at right now. I pray that they would know these things in their heart, God, that they would have this revelation in the knowledge of Christ that all things are possible with God, but that you will not force yourself upon us, they just have to choose you and say yes. So God asks that you would bless them, that you would bless their families while they're gone, and that you would just be that loving Father, meet them where they're at, let them know how much you love them. And as we started singing how great their art, how great thou art, I could not help but think of my grandmother, who I would spend my summers with. I know I'd be like some of my little friends over here, some of my guys over here, I'd sit with her in those, we didn't have cushion chairs guys, we had like these wooden pews that were super uncomfortable. But we would sing how great their art, almost every week, and my grandmother would just tears, which is flow down her face. And I never could really understand what was happening, I wasn't a Christ follower yet, I was a kid trying to figure it all out. But as we started tonight, the Lord said those songs that you sang with her, those truths that you proclaimed with her, are still the same truths that we cling to. There's a part of me that wishes she was here to see this 'cause I'm telling you, friends,

we are far from Brainerd Hills Baptist Church in a lot of ways, but we are not far from the God who loves us. (audience applauding) This year, the Lord challenged me to do some things that make me uncomfortable. So I've been taking a course through a church in New York about just Sabbath practices and contemplative rhythms and we were on a call the other night and the pastor was sharing about the redwood trees in California. A lot of you guys have probably been out there and seen them. They're 20, 30, 300, excuse me, 200, 300 feet in the air. Massive trees. And you would think massive trees would have deep roots. But the truth is, is their roots aren't very deep at all, just a few feet under the ground, but they outstretched for miles and miles. And as they mesh in with the roots of the other trees, it creates this incredibly strong network of trees so that when the winds come, when the weather comes, they're grounded in together. And it reminded me of what we just read in Ephesians 3 that we are called to be grounded and rooted. And I would be remiss tonight if we didn't take a few minutes to open the altar and reorient ourselves in who we are. God calls us to be rooted in our faith, to cling to the roots of our salvation, which is Christ Jesus, to be so enmeshed

in his spirit that we can see beyond what's in front of us, that the songs we sing with our grandparents, those hymns that I sing with my grandmother, we're seeing them lived out today still. My kids, your kids, they will know the Lord much more deeply and richly because of what you're doing in here tonight. I don't know all the ins and outs of our stories, of our lives, but I do know this. God has called us to this moment. And when I hear him sing most in my ear tonight, I think it's not just for me, but for us, we've come too far to give up now. It does not matter what pressure we're feeling, where the shortfalls may be. God says you cannot give up now. You can't give up now and you can't keep trying to do it by yourself. God says I have planted you in the place for you to grow your roots down and wide, deep and wide. So tonight, we're gonna open the altar and I wanna challenge you to do one of two things. And if you have something in your life that you're facing tonight that you need the Lord's help, you need the Lord's guidance. I want you to come and I want you to lay those things at the altar. Secondly, maybe you're here tonight and things are going great. How will you praise God?

It's good to give praise. It's good to give thanksgiving in the low times and in the high times. And maybe you need to come to the altar tonight to give praise or maybe the Lord's giving you a moment to encourage a friend, a loved one here. We're gonna sing this song about his presence and I don't want you to miss the moment of not only being in his presence but allowing him to speak to you and allowing him to use you to speak to others. So as we sing, I'm gonna pray and then the altar will be open and let's see what the Lord wants to do tonight in these last few minutes. God, we thank you. We thank you, Lord Jesus. We thank you for the fact that we don't have to invite you in that you are already here. God, we thank you for the fact that you, you know us better than we know ourselves. God, would you help us to grow? God, would you deepen our walks? Would you deepen our faith? God, we learn to embrace all of the fullness of God, His goodness, His glory. God, would you fill us with more of your spirit? God, may we leave this place overflowing with the power and the love and the authority of the Holy Spirit in our lives?

God, would you move in us and through us tonight? Can you continue to speak to us? We pray this because of Jesus. (dramatic music) (muffled speaking) There's no place I've ever been with. I learned how to worship and be in His presence watching my mother when I was 12 years old that she was dying, and I watched her lift her hands up, believing God for a miracle. Even though we knew that she was going to be with Jesus and she lifted her hands and she said, "I know you are the God that heals me." And I learned to love Jesus more than anything, and I learned to love being in His presence, watching her. Watching her in her sickness still lift her hands and say, "Jesus, you are the lover of my soul." So tonight, whatever you came in here, carry, leave it at the feet of Jesus. Jesus, His presence is in this room. Never of my soul thought of my life, who in the world could compare to you. King of my heart, friend in the fire, who in the world could come closer to you. 'Cause there is no one, absolutely no one, like you Jesus. And there is nothing, absolutely nothing, like your presence.

'Cause I stood on the highest of mountains, been offered glory and riches, but it's always been your presence for me. I've been to beautiful places. I've stood on so many stages, but it's always been your presence for me. 'Cause I love your presence more and more. I'm married by the heart of my life, and I live to know you. I'm married by the heart, so much married by the heart of my life. Oh, my soul, the heart of my life, who in the world could compare to me. King of my heart, friend in the fire, who in the world could come closer to you. 'Cause there is no, absolutely no one, like you Jesus. And there is nothing, absolutely nothing, like your presence.
