INSIDE EXAMINATION
I'm up here to introduce my wife, but that song really hit me hard because this morning during our class, we talked about that. We talked about the sync shoe or the outer court, inner court and the holy of holy. That's right. And inside the inner court, there was three pieces of furniture. There was the table of show bread. There was the manure, candlesticks. And there was the table or the ultra-vencents. So that ultra-vencents was always a sweet-smelling saver into the Lord, always, that was a high priest job that was going there and making sure that every day that it was continually rising up to the Lord. And that is the type of shadow that we are the holy, we are the high priest today. We are the tabernacle. We are the living tabernacle. We are the high priest. And every day, everything that we do think or say should be a sweet-smelling saver into the Lord. And if it's not, check yourself, man. That song is true, everything that we do say or think should be pleasing to the Lord. A living sacrifice, holding and pleasing to God in Jesus' name, amen. So now I get to introduce my beautiful wife tonight. There's no introduction to be made. This is Kat Dees. She's going to give us a lesson today on something. Oh, of the April. Everybody give it up for Kat Dees one time. Bless my husband, bless him, Lord. All right. So we got a lot to cover tonight. And I know I just was up here a couple of weeks ago.
Actually tonight is Pastor David Morgan's not, but he had some traveling to do. So you all let him know that we missed him immensely. So I've said it before, but I'm going to say it again, and I'm going to try and do this as quickly as possible so that I don't go over. But if you come to Celebrate Recovery for one full year, you will have actually learned and listened to the 12 steps. And so within the 12 steps, we have what are called the eight principles. And that is what is unique to Celebrate Recovery outside of Jesus Christ being our only higher power, amen. And so within the eight principles, there are like 24 or 25 lessons. And so throughout the year, we alternate. I don't know if y'all know it, but we alternate. So Pastor David Morgan and I alternate the lessons. So tonight I'm going to do lesson 11. And last time I was up here, I did lesson 10. But it's going to sound like the same topic only because we're still talking about inventory. Who in here has completed the 12 steps and worked their inventory? You know how intense it is, right? It's not a one time sit down, be done with it kind of process. You start a little, you dig a little, you got to walk away a little, right? Because it's pretty intense, is it not? It's not like just taking the scab off slowly, it's like you rip that sucker off and then you got to deal with it. Anybody feel me at all, or am I the only one that struggled with inventory around here? Yeah? Okay. All right. So really quick, I want to be able to distinguish the difference between lesson 10 and lesson 11. Lesson 10 is what we talked about last time when I was up here.
And so, and this is actually good for me because it gives me some clarity. So lesson 10 is what we were talking about the roots, everybody say roots, all right? So lesson 11 is about we're looking at the fruit, everybody say fruit. Everybody in this room knows that everything we do bears some kind of fruit, whether it's good or bad. Is that correct? Yes. All right. So let's talk about some examples of that. So lesson 10, an example would be my father abandoned our family when I was young. So that would belong in your inventory and that's something that happened to me that I wasn't responsible for his decision, correct? So in lesson 11, we go a little further. How did that abandonment affect me? That's to me when it gets hard. It's one thing to identify it. It's another thing to look inward and say, so what did it do to me? So for some of us, it's maybe I've become afraid that people, other people would leave me that I would stop trusting people, that I became controlling in my relationships. I know none of y'all can relate to any of this, right? Okay. And when someone started getting close, I'd push them away. I totally relate to that because at some point they might reject me, right? So I'm going to reject them first before they reject me. And then eventually I use drugs, alcohol or something else to numb my loneliness. And so then we see the progression, it starts out as a wound, and then we develop a belief, and then we manifest a behavior, and then we develop a pattern. Anyone feel that? Yeah, for sure. So lesson 11 asks us to become honest about what grew around that wound.
You know, I've said it for years and I'm not an expert because all of you know, I've never been chemically dependent, I've never been an addict in that way. But I do know that the chemical dependency of what's actually going on on the inside. You hear me? It's the fruit of the wound. If you look hard enough, you're gonna see where something happened to you, or you did something that caused an injury or a wound within you that never had a chance to heal, and so we don't know how to cope with it, and so then we manifest different behavior to deal. Like I can't deal with that loneliness or rejection, so I'm gonna numb myself. Or I don't feel good about myself, so you know what, I'm gonna go find other people, like men or women, who are gonna look at me a certain kind of way, and that way I can feel some kind of value, I can feel special about myself. I said this recently to some women that I sit with, and I don't know if any of y'all are gonna relate to this. Sometimes we seek other people to validate us and love us and make us feel special, but when we're by ourselves, we don't even like ourselves. So how is it that I'm gonna sit here and I don't like myself, I don't think highly of myself, but I expect people out here to value me and love me. Think about that for a minute. I'm asking you to love me when I can't even love myself.
Does that even make sense? Think about it. So when I tell folks, when I sit with my women, is be sure that you're okay to be by yourself, that you like yourself enough, that you find enough value in yourself, that you're okay to be by yourself, that when God brings the right person, not just anyone, but the one, they're bonus. Does that make sense y'all? I don't need them in my life to feel special or valued, 'cause I know who my value or my value comes from, and that comes from the Lord. Does that make sense y'all? Think about that for a minute, okay? I want you to, and here's the thing, as we stand up here and we talk to y'all and we just give you all this information, I really hope that you don't just, as you walk out the door and into your car that you just chuck it and think about, oh, what am I gonna do tomorrow? I'm really craving a hamburger. I think it's time to go eat, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I kind of feel like I have my mama vibe on tonight, like we go, I'm gonna lecture y'all. But y'all hear me? I want you to ponder some of these things, 'cause the truth is, unless you're gonna do some work, ain't nothing gonna change.
Y'all find yourself coming in here a year from now, two years from now, five years from now, warming a seat. Unless you're willing right now to do some work, how many of y'all are willing to do some work, 'cause you're tired of being what it's always been. I'm hoping every single hand is up in here, 'cause ain't none of us arrived. Even the people that stand on this stage, ain't none of us arrived. We've always still got more to learn about ourselves and about other folks. And so this is, to me, like your boot camp. This is your training season, so that when the Lord calls you out of this season into your next, you're prepared, and you're stronger than ever. You ever think about that? This is your boot camp, y'all. All right, so let's get in it. So lesson 11, celebrate recovery, spiritual inventory. This is part two. God, show me what's really in there. Ooh. I'm afraid to look at what's in there. So we're doing principle four, openly examining, confess my faults to myself, to God and to someone I trust. And then step four, we made a searching and very less moral inventory of ourselves. And our key scripture for tonight is Psalms 139, 23 and 24.
I think most of us are familiar with this. Search me, oh God, and know my heart. Try me and know my anxieties, and sometimes it says fear, and see if there is any wicked way in me and lead me in the way everlasting. So how many of you, and be honest, how many of you have ever cleaned out a closet that you had been avoiding for a long time? And if it's not your closet, how about what is that thing that's in your car that you put all the papers in that you can barely close? Your glove box, anybody had, their glove box was so full of stuff that you're pushing it as hard as you can before you can slam it shut. And then you're afraid to open it back up because you don't know what's gonna pop out of there. For some of us, it's a closet. And Steve and I, we just had our closet until Billy saved us and put some shelves in it. No lie, I'm not even exaggerating that there were things stacked on top of things stacked that one, I hadn't seen in years, and two, when I opened the door, literally things fell out. Huh? I can't even hear what he's saying. Oh yeah, 10 years worth of stuff.
Yes, it was a great summary of our life. For sure, for sure. nope, not today. I'm going to shut it real fast. And so you close the door, but here's what's interesting. Closing the door just makes the room look better, doesn't it? Some of us have a messy room and we just shut the door because we don't want to look in the room. But here's the deal, it doesn't change what's behind the door. And some of us have learned to live our lives exactly like that with our trauma in our wounds. So the door of childhood, how many of y'all, and you don't have to raise your hand, but how many of y'all don't remember much of your childhood because there was so much trauma in it? I was that person, for sure. How about the door of addiction? I'm just going to pretend it really didn't happen. Plus I can't even really remember what happened. How about the door of rejection? That person hurt me, but man, I don't want to think about it. But when I get into my next relationship, I act out because I'm still wounded. I got some trust issues. How about the door of abuse? If I don't talk about it, I don't got to deal with it. How about the door of broken relationships? Oh, here's a tough one. How about the things we've done? Sometimes it's hard to confess the things we've done, right? I don't know about you all, but in recovery, it was a lot easier for me to point the fingers. It was easier for me to point at my parents to say it's their fault while I was so jacked up. And then obviously the things that have been done to us. So sometimes we think, if I don't open the door, I don't got to deal with it. But how long does that work, y'all? I don't know about y'all, but I'm 56 now, and I still got stuff I'm dealing with. So here, I want y'all to hear this. Whatever I refuse to deal with, still has the ability to deal with me. Y'all remember that. Whatever I refuse to deal with, still has the ability to deal with me. And so that's why we're taking inventory, y'all. How many of y'all are tired of feeling the way you're feeling? How many of y'all are tired of having thoughts pop into your head, and it's like you're reliving the trauma, reliving the emotions, the feelings still come on you. How many of y'all still get pissed off? Because it sucked, and it wasn't fair, right? Well, let's take inventory so we can lay that stuff down. How many of you are ready to live in joy and peace? How many of y'all are ready to be happy? How many of y'all are ready to be healthy, right? And maybe help some of your family be healthy. How about how many of y'all have children, and you do not want them to go through what you've been through? Amen. That should be motivation enough. Should it not? It stops with us. All right. So step four says we made a searching
and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. Notice the word searching and fearless. So why fearless? Because sometimes we already know what we're going to find. There are some things that happened to us that were never our fault. So we have wounds that we never asked for, and there are betrayals we didn't deserve. And I'm going to be real, as I'm reading this man, I want to get up here and get ulterior because I feel every all of this. And somewhere in recovery, we have to ask another question. What happened inside of me because of what happened to me? Maybe rejection produced anger. Maybe abandonment produced control. Maybe abuse produced shame. Maybe betrayal produced an inability to trust. And maybe pain caused us to reach for something that eventually became an addiction. And so tonight we're not asking whose fault is everything because there's no fruit in casting blame, y'all. There's no fruit. So tonight we're asking God, what needs healing in us? Are y'all ready to ask that question? What needs healing in us? So Psalms 139 says, "Search me, oh God, and know my heart." And so that's our prayer tonight. So the first area we're going to talk about is relationships. And because we want to discover what's happening inside somebody, watch what happens in their relationships. I've always been told that any relationship you get into can only be as healthy as you are. Everybody say, only as healthy as I am. Right? So if you still struggle with insecurity, jealousy, abandonment, you're bringing all that with you into your relationship. And so inventory asks, "Who hurt me? Who disappointed me? Who abandoned me? Who betrayed me?" And then Sometimes we're so quick to look around us and point the figure and say they, they, they, they. But how about me? What did I do to hurt somebody? And sometimes that's hard when it's your own family. Can I be real with you? It took me 30 years to start working my recovery and I think about the impact that it had on my children. I have a son right now that struggles with alcohol because he's trying to numb the pain. And I carry some guilt for that 'cause that's the consequences of my choices, y'all.
And my son's in his 30s. Don't do that to your children. Love them enough to get healthy so they don't have to feel what we had to go through, amen? All right. So, let's talk about anybody ever had a splinter? Got a piece of wood or something in your hand? Imagine someone pushes you against some wood and you get a splinter in your hand. What does it do for me to turn around and point at that person and say, "It sure felt I got this splinter. "Is that person hurt or my hurt?" So should I take my energy casting the blame or should I do something to heal the wound? But in recovery, do we do that? No. So we spend a lot of time saying, "But you put this splinter in me "and you could be completely right, "but eventually somebody has to remove it "and the removing may hurt." But here's the truth, leaving it in hurts longer, does it not? And so the wound may not have been your choice, but the healing requires your participation. And so it's great that you're here. It's great that you're in your seat. It's great that you're listening,
but my question to you is what is the action behind what you hear? Because just showing it up isn't enough, y'all. We gotta do something, right? Recovery is a verb, that means it requires action. And so don't answer this out loud, but think of one person whose name can still change your emotions. When you think about them, you feel hurt, you feel rejection, you feel anger. Does anybody come to mind? And don't tell me who it is. Maybe just hearing their name changes your mood. Well, that's something you wanna put on your inventory that you wanna work on, because God, what am I still caring from that relationship? But relationships aren't the only thing that reveal our hearts so do our priorities. So, golly, me crying during worship. So Jesus said where your treasure is, there your heart is also. So most of us would say God is first in my life. How many of y'all would say God is first in my life? Yes, all right, so here's the thing though. Does the way I live, prove it. Without me walking around saying, "Hey, I'm a Christian and I love Jesus." Would people know by my actions, by my choices, by the way I speak, by the way I interact with you? Would they know that I love Jesus?
Because our priorities are revealed by our time, our attention, our money, and our energy. So how many of us experience where drugs were our first priority, or alcohol, or relationship, or money? Sex, how about this, approval? That was a priority. I had people, I needed people to approve me. I had about work, control. So even ministry can become unhealthy when what I do for God becomes more important than my relationship with God. Do you know that was a revelation for me? How many of y'all here had the mindset if I'm doing good things, that means I love Jesus, but yet I don't have time to spend with Jesus. I don't have a conversation with him, I don't have fellowship with him, I don't worship him. I can barely find time to go to church. Anybody relate to that? Don't raise your hand. All right. Moving on. So how many of us get nervous when your phone starts to die? Anybody addicted to their phone? You get nervous. I get nervous, I'm not gonna lie. 'Cause I think about, well man,
if my kids need to reach me, how are they gonna call me? But you know my kids don't call me that much. So my phone can die, right? And so everything changes, right? So we're looking for where there's a socket, where's my charger? Anybody feel me? The anxiety, is there anxiety rising up in anyone? Like, oh my gosh, I need to check my phone right now. All right, so where do you run when your battery gets low? You personally, as an individual, do you have that much intentional behavior in fixing it? Think about that for a minute. When we're growing weary, right? When you're exhausted, when you feel rejected, when you feel angry, lonely, overwhelmed, where do you run? Some of us run to a bottle, some of us run to some drugs, some of us run to pornography. How about food? Whoops, right here. Shopping, relationships, anger, isolation. And so recovery teaches us a new response. How about we run to God before you run back to what nearly destroyed us? Do we do that? How many of you all, when you're feeling overwhelmed, struggling, stressed, the first thing you think of is to pick up your Bible? Does anybody?
Yeah, I'll be real with you. When it's like 11 o'clock at night and I'm feeling really overwhelmed and stressed, I usually walk to my fridge first before I walk over to my Bible. And I'm just being honest. And that's something I need to work on me. So this week, I want you to ask yourself, God, what have I been asking to do for me what only you can do? How many of you all are control freaks and think you got the answer to everything? OK, some of you all are liars, because I know some of you all. I still love you, but nonetheless. All right, so let's talk about our attitudes since we're there. So let's go a little deeper. What about what's happening on the inside of us? Because inventory isn't just about what we've done. So you have to stop using and still be angry. You can stop drinking and still manipulate. You can stop gambling and still be controlled by greed. But you can change behavior without changing the heart. Have you ever seen anybody like that? They changed the behavior, but you can still see their heart. And Jesus wants both. And I've heard this before. I don't know how many of you all have heard this. So imagine I'm holding a cup of coffee. Any coffee drinkers in the house? And somebody bumps into me. What's going to happen?
I'm going to spill, right? But what's going to come out of the cup? Coffee, right. So why did coffee come out of the cup? Amen. She got the answer. She's read the story before. But anyway, some of us would say, you know what? The coffee came out of the cup because someone bumped into me. But coffee came out because coffee is what was in the cup. And that is the truth. And so when life bumps into you, when somebody criticizes us, when someone rejects us, when somebody doesn't call, can I be transparent for a minute? And I haven't even said this to my husband. Whoo. Most of you know my birthday was yesterday. Two important people in my life didn't even call me to wish me a happy birthday. Now you all did, and I love you all for it. But I'm talking very close family members that I would expect that they would be one of the first to call me, two of them did not wish me a happy birthday. And that hurt, that really hurt. And so when those kinds of things happen to us, when someone bumps into us, what comes out of us? Is it anger? Is it fear, pride, jealousy, resentment? Think about it, y'all. You know, it took a lot of self-control for me
to not let any of that come out of me. I don't know about you all, but when someone hurts me, sometimes in my flesh, I want to hurt them back or let them know how much they hurt me. Anybody relate to that? Yeah. And so instead, we have to say, God, change what's inside my cup. And so you know what I realize? Sometimes people who are hurt are going to hurt us. Right? And so do we want to be that back, right? When someone hurts us, do we want to hurt them back to prove our point? Or is it more important that we recover and heal and figure out why we want to respond that way? Because the truth is when someone hurts us, right? And this is spiritual. When someone hurts us, we want to be able to reflect the love of Jesus. Like I see you, I see you're wounded, and I see why you treated me that way. Can we do that through the filter of Jesus Christ? Amen? All right, so let's talk about integrity. Integrity means that my private life and my public life are the same life. Can you honestly say that's the truth for you, that the way you speak in church, when you raise your hand and your worship Jesus and you can quote scripture that if I see you out in the street, that's the same thing I'm going to see.
Are you going to reflect Jesus? Because you know what? You'll feed your addiction, secrets will feed your shame, and secrets will feed the isolation. Now Proverbs 28, 13, he who covers his sin will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy. So imagine you have a beautiful house with fresh paint, beautiful landscaping, and everything looks perfect, but underneath the surface there are termites. And so what's happening, it's destroying the structure, but we can't see it until eventually what's happening privately becomes visible publicly. And that's what secrets do. How many of y'all were in your addiction, whether it was chemical dependency or something else, and someone say, "Hey, how you doing?" And you're like, "I'm great!" And the other person hearing that's like, "Mm-hmm, but I see the truth." Like your stuff was on public display, you just didn't know it. We're kidding ourselves, aren't we? Just like I've had people come in here and I'm like, "Hey, how you doing?" "Great! You staying sober? Absolutely!" But we can all read their mail. Yeah. So ask yourself, "Is there anything I'm hiding? Am I presenting one person here at Celebrate Recovery and living differently when no one was watching?" But the truth is someone's always watching. Because you know what, God sees you, right? So Recovery grows where honesty lives. All right, I got to get through this quickly, y'all. How about your mind?
Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. And so for some, for many years, some of us have repeated these things, these lies that we've partnered with. I'll never change. I'm worthless. Everybody leaves. Nobody could ever really love me. I'll always be an addict. I can't handle life without getting high. Those thoughts became beliefs because we partnered with them. And then our beliefs influence our decisions, and then decisions become patterns. So imagine walking across the same field every day, eventually you create a path, and the grass disappears because you've walked throughout so many times. You've traveled some mental paths thousands of times, whether you're wanting to speak it out or not, but recovery means God begins creating new pathways. And at the first, a new path feels strange, and that's okay. You know, I ask my women to always do declarations, and I've got several that I've printed out. I've given some to my husband about who he is, who I am, and I'm talking about leadership as a wife, as a husband, all of it. And I'll be honest with you. I first start saying that I have value, I have worth, I'm important, I'm talented, I'm gifted. You know, it feels like sandpaper to my flesh because it feels so contrary to what I believe about myself. Anyone relate to that? Yeah. And so we believe things such as I am worthless, no, I am God's workmanship. So you know what I did do? I started pulling things out of the Bible about what God says about me. And his opinion is greater than my opinion. Would you all agree with that?
Say amen. Amen. So then I started saying those things out loud, to myself, out loud, and you need to do the same. It does something to your brain when it hears it. So I'll never change, no, if anyone is in Christ, he's a new creation. My past defines me, whom the sunset's free is free indeed. Stop allowing yesterday's lies to narrate tomorrow's life, y'all. How about our body? Anybody struggle with taking care of your body? If it's a temple for the Holy Spirit, y'all know that right? I'm going to rush through this. For many of us, our bodies have paid the price for our hurts, habits, and hang ups. Would anybody agree? We filled it with substances. We deprived it of sleep. We have ignored warning signs and we lived under constant stress. So let me ask you this, how many of you would love to have a 2026 Corvette ZR1? Anybody even know what that is? I had to Google it. In torch red with black wheels twin turbo, a V8, like it could do 0 to 60 in 2.3 seconds. 233 miles per hour like could you imagine doing that down 321? Cops couldn't catch even if they wanted to Right and it says it goes for like a hundred and seventy five thousand dollars anybody got that 175 thousand dollars Right all right. So if someone said this is the only vehicle you're gonna have for the rest of your life How many of y'all would be very very happy? Yes excited You'd want to drive everybody everywhere, wouldn't you? Well, here's the thing you'd probably change the oil Check the tires pay attention to the warning lights
So listen public service announcement this body is the only body you're gonna have for the rest of your life And your dashboard is like lit up like a Christmas tree Anybody agree with me and so why don't we take care of ourselves? Why don't we rest? Why don't we eat healthy? Why don't we exercise? Steven I don't want to hear it. See you always tell me to go exercise or how about going to the doctor? How about our sobriety? How about our mental health y'all? But we think all those flashing lights on our dashboard are just for decoration But we'll take care of a fancy car So what's your priority y'all we need to honor our temple take care of our body? All right, so how about our family? You know someone once told me that family or are the people that God chose for you that you would never hang out with Anybody agree with that? Yeah, we got some families right that we're like I'll see you at Thanksgiving only But some of our family hurt us and some of us grew up in unhealthy homes, right? Full of abuse anger divorce neglect secrets and so sometimes those patterns travel through generations because no one ever stops them I want you to stop for a moment. I want you to take a quick two-second inventory of your life and then scan your family and see Who do you resemble cuz I'll be real with you sometimes I open my mouth and my mama comes out of me Does anybody feel that? right And so we have to decide that you don't you don't you didn't get to choose Your family or what was handed to you but today you get to choose what you're gonna pass on So even though we were given anger abandonment abuse secrets poverty fear You don't have to pass that on you can say it stops with me and so that means addiction stops with me abuse stops with me Abandonment stops with me How about secrets stop with me? To me, we should all get to the point of recovery that there is no shame in talking about what my past was filled with
Because I can speak from a place of overcoming I Have no shame or guilt, you know for a long time. I was embarrassed about the abuse that happened to me But I don't carry that anymore. That wasn't my responsibility. You know what's my responsibility is my recovery And so I I speak from a place of having overcome So maybe your children and your grandchildren We will receive something different because you choose recovery All right last but not least we're gonna talk about church and family. How about our relationship with the Lord y'all? Some people have been hurt by churches some are disappointed by leaders and some become angry with God because of what people did Do you know I was angry with God for a long time? Because I thought he was responsible for what my stepfather did to me But it's time to recover and You know what I'm gonna tell you this if anyone's ever hurt you that wasn't God's plan for you that was man's free will So God doesn't carry the blame in any of that y'all He wants to help you heal and recover that was man's choice y'all hear me So if anybody was abused in here, and I don't know if y'all know this But my first husband had an affair left me and my three children And I was angry at God for that too, but that wasn't God's choice. That was my ex-husband's choice And do you know what's crazy? My current husband likes my ex has been more than I do Did y'all hear me my current has been likes my ex has been more than I do Anyways, so if you have a burning log, let's say it's in a fire you take that log and you pull it out And you set it aside. What's gonna happen? At some point it may start to fizzle out and the fire ain't gonna blaze right and the heat starts to cool But what if you take that log? what happens? It's on fire, picks up that heat. That's the same with us, y'all. Recovery is not meant to happen alone. You're not meant to do this by yourself. You're meant to be in community.
You need to stay connected. You need to find people who are like-minded. You need to spend time with people who are further along in their recovery than you are, because they might teach you something. You may not realize this, but you don't know everything yet. Is that a shocker for anybody? Y'all don't know everything yet. So here's the deal. If we don't deal with our stuff, imagine you've got a suitcase and you're going through life. And as you're going through life, that suitcase is being filled up. It's being filled up with every hurt, with every betrayal, rejection, lie, secret, regret, failure, and resentment. And for every person you've not forgiven, y'all. I don't know about you, but I'm tired of carrying my baggage. Anybody else? Yeah. And God wants to help you empty your suitcase. It's time to lighten the load. Because you know what? And I know I say it every time I'm up here, but he's got greater things for y'all to do. He's got an assignment for you. And you may think, you know what? I don't want to be a preacher. In fact, I know a gentleman that's sitting in this room that doesn't feel called to ministry. But you know what?
God's given him a business mind. And he wants to go out there and make some money. And you know what? There's no sin in making some money because he wants to fund the kingdom. He still has an assignment. Amen? Each of you have an assignment. Not all assignments are very visible. What if your assignment is to raise your kid who's going to save 100,000 lives? You ever think about that? That's a huge assignment, y'all. What if your assignment is to raise your kid? Because they are the ones that are going to change the world. Amen? All right. I think that's all I'm going to do for tonight, because there's still so much to do. But I would like to pray us out. Y'all good with that? And then we're going to get to chips. Anybody got chips for tonight? Yes? I got one person excited for chips, y'all. Right, right, right, right. All right. Let's pray really quick. Lord, tonight we're asking you to do something that requires courage.
We're asking you to search us. Not the person beside us. Not the people who hurt us. Not our spouse, not our family, but us. Father, search me. Search the places I've tried to hide. Search the wounds I've covered. Search the anger I've justified. Search the resentment I've carried. And search the relationships that still control my emotions. Search my priorities. And search my attitude. Search my integrity and my thoughts. And search my family patterns, Lord. Thank you, Lord, that a new legacy begins with me. Let addiction stop here. Let abuse stop here. Let abandonment stop here. And let the secrets stop here. Let generational destruction stop here. And let healing begin. Father, we put the suitcase down right now. We're tired of caring it. We're tired of pretending it isn't heavy. We're tired of allowing yesterday to control today. So open our hands. We open our hands, and we surrender it to you. Search us, know our hearts, reveal what needs healing. Give us courage to face what you reveal and lead us in the way everlasting.
And we pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, amen. All right, guys, let's do some chips, y'all. Oh, we do our serenity prayer first. Forgive me. I'm confused by where we're at. All right, so let's stand up. Can we turn on some lights in the house? Y'all stretch and wake up a little? Yeah, we're going to do the serenity prayer before anyone leaves, y'all. Can we pray first? I see y'all leaving me. Can we pray first? All right, so together we start with God. Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time, accepting hardship as a pathway to peace, taking as Jesus did this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it. Trusting that you will make all things right if I surrender to your will so that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with you forever in the next. Amen, amen. All right, all of y'all that leave, this is your moment. I just ask guys, look around if there's any trash, water bottles, even if it's not yours. If you would bless us and take it with you,
for those that stay with us.
