God has appointed this day for you to hear this message. Amen. So, how many of y'all been enjoying this series, Make Your Mark? I got the shirt on. Make Your Mark. Yeah, amen. It's been a good series. Pastor has done a great job leading us through. Pastor Grant did an amazing job a couple

weeks ago on his about speaking on the people that made a mark in his life and that have helped him get to where he is now and then last week, Pastor Pacer finished up with his his sermon as well. It's been just a great, great series. Our theme verse has been Isaiah 41 9 and it's this, You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth and called from its farthest regions and said to you, you are my servant. I have chosen you. I've actually highlighted that I have chosen you and you have not cast and have not cast you away. Now, if I type my message title today is, if you see it, build it. If you see it, build it. You build it. Not the royal you. And what I love about this in Isaiah is God is saying, I have chosen you. Each and every single one of us. He has chosen. The ones watching online, the ones in prison, he has chosen you. Every single one of us. Not just the ones in this room but everybody that has ever lived, ever will live, that is alive today, he has chosen you. How do I know that? Because it says his will is that none should perish but all come to him. He has chosen each and every single person that he has ever created. It reminds me of when I was a kid and some of you all might know and some of you guys that are in school still might also remember this but when I was in the neighborhood, you had to pick up games or on the school yard you had to pick up games. And you know, I was a, I was competitive back then. I loved playing pick-up games. I would play anything, soccer, football, basketball. I would outrun you. Whatever I needed to do, I wanted to show. I still do it today. Like, like Keegan and I were playing basketball and guess what? Who won? I did. I let him score a couple times and that took over. Like my kids don't like playing Monopoly with me so that's how bad it is guys. Like I do not let them win and I am going to make you know you lost. So, but, but I remember, you know, you choose the captains. However you did that, it was like, you know, mama told me to pick the very best one and you are not it. Or one potato, two potato, three potato, four, five potato, six, come on, seven potato, more. Like you didn't go through all that. Choose your captains. You get the two captains. Then you got the whole pool of kids that are waiting to get chosen. I don't know about you but when you're in that pool, like I would sweat beads hoping that I was not the

last one. Like because the captain's going, all right, I'll choose you, I'll choose you. That means because if you are the last one, that means you weren't chosen at all. Nobody wanted you. And you just so happen to have to go to the team or the captain that had the last pick. Even he didn't want you. But God here in Isaiah is saying, no, I have chosen you. He said, I have chosen you all. And what's even more amazing is if you read in scripture, he's also chosen you for a specific purpose in Ephesians 2 10 it's for we are his workmanship Created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them So Picture that you were his workmanship. He created you with his hands for what good works so that you may walk in them So he prepared works beforehand for you to do Before you were even created He prepared works for you to do before this earth was created before the foundations of this universe were set He had created a purpose for you to do Each and every single one of us Guess what? My purpose is not to sing. You don't want me singing Nobody would come back. I Used to tell my kids I don't sing anymore because I was so good that I would ruin it for everybody and nobody would make money because I'd be the only That's how I got away with it. That's why I don't sing But no, the truth is I'm bad at singing. You don't want me singing if you sit next to me I'm sorry, your ears might be bleeding so But here you are chosen God has prepared all of this for you to do and you just have a choice To be obedient and do it Or to be disobedient and not do it When you're obedient and you do it You find peace and you find purpose When you're disobedient you find destruction and everything fighting against you

So you have a choice that's why there were two trees in the garden because God did not make us puppets He gave us free will and choice So it is your choice To be obedient or not Now last week pastor Pacer ended his message with an amazing question that set on me all week long In fact, I had already prepared my message I already knew what I was going to be Preaching on and the story I was gonna go in and then he mentions this question and it's like set on me and I was Like man, I'm gonna have to put that into my message and I'm gonna have to change things around And so and I hope that if you heard that question last week I hope you the those small groups that take the notes from the previous Sunday and use them to Use your for your small group material I hope you dissected this question as much as I did because it is a very important question and that question was how do I recognize the call to serve and Pastor gave us three things to look at one was to observe Two was to listen and three was to sense And I was looking at those and looking over that and I was like man This fits right into the story that I want to use and that story is Nehemiah when he goes back to Jerusalem to rebuild the wall So man, I'm gonna have to tie that in that's the Holy Spirit working in unity right there And so let's dive a little deeper in that now Nehemiah was living in a time where Jerusalem was coming out of bondage from Babylon and stuff and so they had been given permission to go back to Israel to Rebuild their home and rebuild their town and and everything and then Nehemiah is coming on the back end of that In fact, it had been 90-something years Since they had been given that permission and Nehemiah is coming back. Why because he had heard That the city walls were in ruin and the gates had been burnt down And so Nehemiah wanted to go observe it for himself. There's that word observe He wanted to see it for himself And so he goes back to Jerusalem and this is what it says Nehemiah 2 13

And I went out by night through the valley gate to the serpent well and the refuse gates and viewed the walls of Jerusalem Which were broken down and its gates which were burned with fire So he gets to Jerusalem and at night one night he goes out and he looks at the gates He looks at the walls and he sees all the destruction He observes all the destruction But He didn't end at just observing He took action Which leads me to my first point Calling often begins with what you notice What you notice there's a reason why you're noticing it and not everybody else is noticing it Nehemiah's call and work began that night when he noticed destruction of the walls. He saw the problem and he was moved to act on that problem. Nehemiah 2.17 says, Then I said to them, You see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lies in waste and its gates are burned with fire. Come and let us build the wall of Jerusalem that we may no longer be a reproach. So he sees the issue and he's like, OK, we're going to take action. This is what we're going to do. Let's go and rebuild the walls. Now, I mentioned at the beginning that they had been living in Jerusalem 90 something years. That tells me that the people of Jerusalem would walk by those gates and those walls that were destroyed and do nothing about it for 90 something years. Two generations would do nothing about it. And then I think about the church. How many times do we see an issue or something that needs to be done in the church for our neighbors and we do nothing about it because we say somebody else will get to it. We make excuses of why we don't want to do it. We see something at the church, maybe, maybe you pull in and you're like, man, if they just had a few more people in the parking team, this would go so much smoother. Or you come in and you're like, man, if they had more ushers, we could find seats easier and it'd be so much better if they could if we could just find more ushers to do it. Or this or you're a parent, you're dropping your kids off and you're like, oh, man, they they are overcrowded in this room and these toddlers, man, I don't know how they survive in there. If they just had a few more, maybe they could

split up the classroom. I've had people tell me I've served my time like it's a prison sentence. It is the most glorious thing you could ever do. And you do nothing about it because you make excuses. We make excuses. I'm not just pointing at you. We make excuses. We drive right by. We don't do anything about it. Why? I'm sorry, but I'm not sorry. If I join the media team, that means that I got to get up earlier and go in earlier. And I like my breakfast at a certain time. And I like to cook it this way and that way. And that means I got to disturb my kids to get up and I don't want to do that at all. Or maybe I join this team and I have to stay later. And if I stay later, then I'm going to miss the lunch special. I don't want to do that. Or if I don't get there for this service, then the Holy Spirit doesn't move in the other service. So I got to be there for this service. Or I got to make sure I park in the same spot so I can get out easier. Because if I park right here, then the traffic flow is so much easier for me to exit because of the construction. Or I got to sit in the same exact seat I sit in every Sunday. Why? Because we are sold to our comfort. I can't make that sacrifice. I can't do that. Well, Jesus died for you. He didn't have to leave heaven at all. But he chose to. We make excuses over and over why we can't do it. Observation, let me tell you, often leads to revelation. Observation is often revelation. Get this Exodus 3, 4. So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him. This is Moses walking and seeing the burning bush for the first time. Now, Moses is walking, and here's this bush that is burning. He could have been like most of us and said, oh, we're in the wilderness. Bushes burn often. Three out here. And just walk on by it. We do that, don't we? Oh, that happens every Sunday. Well, we just walk on by it. Somebody else will take care of it. Well, Moses, no. He noticed that something was different about this bush. And it says that he is walking, and then he turned and observed it. And when he turned, God called him. When he finally fully observed the bush, the revelation of God's calling came for him to lead the people out of Egypt, for him to leave God's people out of Egypt. Acts 16, 9-10 says, And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, Come over to Macedonia and help us. After we had seen the vision immediately, we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them.

Here in this scripture, Paul is receiving a vision. He's with Luke, and Luke is writing this, and it says that, and in fact, you read through this, there's times that they would go through Asia and the other parts, and they would go through towns, and God would shut their mouths so that they couldn't share the gospel in that town. No, I'm not ready to share there. No, I'm not ready to share there. No, I'm not ready. And I'm sure they would get frustrated, like, God, why you got me on this journey if you don't want me sharing the gospel everywhere we go? But then, this night, Paul receives a vision of a Macedonian man asking, Come teach us. He observes, and then his calling is revealed. It says they immediately got up and went to Macedonia to preach the gospel. Observation is often revelation. So I'm going to ask you this question. What is it that you keep seeing and observing? What is it that God keeps putting in front of you that you're not answering the call to? What is it that keeps frustrating you? There's a reason why it keeps frustrating you, because you're attuned to that, and you're supposed to observe it. You're supposed to see it for a reason. So what do you keep seeing or the gap that you keep talking about to your spouse every time you get in the car? Man, if this church just did this or did that, this would be a great church. What is it that keeps popping up into your mind, that keeps coming to your attention? Which leads me to my second point. Listen long enough for it to linger. That's what Moses did. He went to that burning bush, and God started calling him, and he sat and listened long

enough for it to linger on his spirit, to make it heavy. Many times we get up and we leave because the uncomfortableness of making something linger on our spirit doesn't feel good. We're like, oh, I can't do that, but it's making me uncomfortable. I don't want it to linger on my spirit that long, so I go and I do something else and I hide from it. I put the blinders on so I don't see it. When we allow it to linger on, we will see what we're called to do. Now I know not everything is a calling, guys, but if it lingers in prayer, it just might be. I am one of those. I do not believe that there is a devil behind every bush, because trust me, there have been problems I've brought on myself because of stupidness and stubbornness and immaturity, and Rachel will probably tell you most of those. But many times when it sits on you and sits on you and sits on you, that's God nudging you. I remember when I first felt led to call to preach. I was seventeen years old, and I had just gone through an awful lot of stuff in my teenage years where I had no vision. I had no calling in my life, and I was fighting who I was and my identity and all those things. I was going through this hardship, and all I knew was I needed to seek after God. I'm seventeen, and I remember going to my room several days throughout the week, and I would shut my door, and I'd tell my dad and my parents, hey, I'm praying and I'm fasting, so if you come by, you know why my door's shut. And that happened for days, until one Sunday I felt God in the Spirit say, I want you to preach my word. And I even laid out the Gideon fleeces. I was like, all right, God. If you really want me to preach, you're going to have to make this happen, this happen, this happen. And God answered every single one of them.

And guess what? It's okay, guys, to lay out pieces. It's okay to say, God, if you really want this, then show me that you want this. And so I laid those out, and God was revealing to me, yes, I want you to preach. And so I remember, I got the courage to go tell my father. Now, my father's a pastor himself. And I got the courage to just go and tell my father. And I'm thinking he's going to give me some amazing words. I go up to him, and I'm like, hey, Dad, guess what? I want to preach. I'm waiting for him to put his arm around me. Oh, come, O Padded One, let me show you the way. But he gave me the wisest single word he could ever give me. He said, run. Yeah, I was taking it back, too. Y'all were ready for something crazy, weren't you? But he said, run. And he goes on and continues to say, because if you run, and every corner you go around and preaching meets you around that corner, if you run, and every time you wake up, and all you can think about is preaching, or you can't sleep at night because all you think about is preaching, or opportunities come up, and you're trying to run away from them, and they just keep popping up, popping up, popping up, that means you're called to do it. So there's a reason why it keeps popping up in front of you, because you're called to do it. As a church. So I ran until every objection was nullified. I try to make my excuses. And so the Holy Spirit kept nudging me, and if the Holy Spirit keeps nudging you, you can't ignore it. You have to do it.

What I love about Nehemiah, in chapter 3, you see this, where people were rebuilding the wall and the destruction in front of their own houses. Nehemiah 3.10, it says this. Next to them, Jediah, the son of Harumph, made repairs in front of his house. And next to him, Hatush, the son of Hashabana, made repairs. All right, the bat doesn't want to turn. There we go. All right. And then Nehemiah 3.23, after them, Benjamin and Hashab made repairs opposite their house. After them, Azariah, the son of Ananiah, made repairs by his house. Nehemiah 3.28, Zodiac, the son of Emer, made repairs in front of his own house. And the whole chapter is this. You will read that chapter 3, and you will find names that you didn't think could exist. But the whole point is, it was saying that these people would make repairs in front of their house. And you know what that told me? That every morning they woke up, they walked out their front door, they would see the need that needed to be met. What need, every time you walk out your front door, every time you walk into the church, that keeps coming to you, that you see needs to be met? It also tells me that 90 years, two generations, would wake up and walk out their front doors and do nothing about those needs. So there's a point that you need to start moving and taking action. Don't leave it for the next generation to do, church. We need to be doing it now. This isn't about us, this is about the future. They would wake up and see that need, and didn't make a move for 90 to 100 years until Nehemiah came along. Our pastor, you're Nehemiah right now, this whole month has been getting up saying there are needs that need to be met. There are holes and gaps in the walls in the church that need to be met. What are we going to do about a church?

And he's calling us to observe the holes so that we can move on it. And so what are you seeing every morning? What are you seeing every time you walk into the church that you know needs to be done? Guess what? It's not for pastor to do. It's not for me to do. It's not for the staff of this church to do. It is for you to do as his body. Which leads me to my last point. You are needed to complete the work. the work. You individually are goes back to Ephesians 2 ten for we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works which god prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. You are his workmanship that you are created to do a specific task that pastor can't do that the staff of this church can't do but you can do. You have the ability. You have the gifts. You have the calling. In fact, Romans 1129 says for the gifts and the calling of god are irrevocable. You were meant to do that. Not somebody else. I'm going to give an introduction real quick. Pastor Pacer, can you come up? Sister

Tiffany, can you come up? She's not ready. She's like, whoa. How many of us get that? God says something and we're like, oh, what? Me, God? What? Right? Let's see. Hey, John, can you come up? Come. Terry, come on up. None of these guys knew I was doing this for them. Only me. Need one more. Come on up, Scott. Come on. So, pastor was called to meet a need in this community. And he was called to start a church. And he steps up and he does that calling. He observed a need. He received a revelation and he went to work like Nehemiah did. And so, him doing that, he was able to meet the need of somebody else in that community which he touches another person. And then, Tiffany here, because her need was met and she sees God in that, she observes another need that, oh, I need to reach out and I need to touch that need. And because of that, then John does the same thing. And then Terry, there's nobody on your

side, I'm sorry. And so, because a need was met, other needs get met. But I want you to see this, guys. Pastor down here cannot reach Scotty way over here by himself. He needed other people in between him and Scotty to reach him. I know somebody's going to say, well, why doesn't he just walk over to Scotty? Well, because pastor is meant to be in this lane as the pastor of this church. But this is what happens sometimes. A need will be met. Y'all go ahead and put your hands back up. Don't do it. Don't stop meeting the need. So, the need gets met. But then, somebody makes an excuse. Whatever that is. Could be a million excuses. I'm sure y'all can think of something in your head right now that you have been making already. And they don't reach out and they don't meet the need that they've been called to meet. And so, that means that since this need wasn't met, then John doesn't reach out to

meet this other need because he doesn't observe and he's not revealed that he needs to meet this need because he hasn't been taught. And but here, Terry maybe, maybe the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit still works no matter if somebody doesn't meet the need or not. Amen? Terry may still get revelation that he needs to meet a need and he goes out and he touches his brother next to him and that need is met. But this is what happens though because this need wasn't met, John leaves. Don't be sad. But this is what happens church. You get a gap in the needs that have been, were supposed to be met. This specific need did not get met and that created a gap in the church, in the body of Christ. Why? Because somebody didn't reach out and do their part. that they were supposed to do and The church has these gaps all over the place not just this church. I'm talking about Big C guys Because it's not just about real revolution. We are the body of Christ So, what are we not doing to meet this need right here

We need to fill that gap you are called to fill this gap. Amen. Thank you guys I Want person does not do their part The message would have never got to the end that he was supposed to We Need to answer the calling of God that he has put on our heart the thing that he keeps putting in front of our face the Frustration that we keep seeing the gaps that we keep seeing and we keep complaining about we need to answer that calling Why because he is specifically calling us to that particular area You Will make your mark When you're obedient to what is right in front of you What is right in front of you that he's calling as I close can I have the prayer team come up, please I I Close with this story of the time that I almost left this church Yes, I said I almost left this church 15 years ago my wife and I started going to Rio Revolution when we were at Heritage High School We had two kids at the time now we have five God has blessed us tremendously Caden they're sitting this my wife was just a little tight two three years old Carly had just been born But my wife and I are serving in the nursery while she's serving I was forced in the nursery so to be honest We're serving in the nursery and there's this frustration that keeps getting to me and I'm frustrated because I can't Rachel. I cannot attend Sunday school Because there's no nursery during Sunday school we don't have we're not a small groups church at the time and I was like we can't build relationships because We don't get time to spend with other people in in Sunday school Rachel and I'm going to her costly Frustrated three months we had been there and I'm talking to her almost every Sunday about how frustrated I am I even found other parents who are in the same predicament as me and I started complaining to them Does that happen? Yes

Misery loves company And I'm complaining and complaining and complaining until one day My wife smacks me right in the mouth with the words. She says What she does often and that's why I'm blessed to have her She looks at me one day and she says then what are you going to do about it? Whoo I'll let those words and I listened to those words long enough to wear it lingered on my spirit For two weeks, I prayed and prayed about those words that she said It's like God, do you want me to leave? What do you want us to do about it? And then God laid on my heart How about you open the nursery for Sunday school? I'm fighting God like no those fight words. I'm not doing that But I finally get to that point where okay God, I'm gonna do it and he gets my heart to where it needs to be and I remember going to Rachel and I was like Rachel don't laugh, but God is telling me that we might need to do nursery for a Sunday school And so we're gonna talk to Sherry who was the nursery director at the time Sherry Martin We're gonna talk to Sherry on the next Sunday that we go back. Well before Sunday even comes around Rachel receives a call from Sherry Hey, can you and your husband meet with pastor and I in the cafeteria at the school before church on Wednesday night? well, I Got in trouble when I was a kid a lot and time I got called to the principal's office, it was never good. I was sitting there thinking, well, I didn't do donuts in the parking lot. What are you like? What am I in trouble for? But we go in and Sherry and pastor sitting there and Sherry opens up and says this, we would like for you as a couple to become the next nursery directors at Rio Revolution Church. The week I finally say, okay, God, I'm going to do it. He sets up the meeting before I could even set it up. Now, Sherry and Harry, they were leaving to go to North Carolina for a job, and that's why they were stepping down. Rachel and I pray on it and we accepted it, but we were, I was this close to talking my wife into leaving. 15 years later, I am

the family ministry pastor here at this church. Why? Because I stepped into the gap that needed the solving and I did my part. So pastor, you can't get rid of me until God says, I'm sorry. So until he says the wall is completed, I'm focused on this wall of family ministries. And so I end with this. If you're called to be here at this church, then be here at this church and move. Take action. You are meant to be here. You see the holes for a reason, step into those holes and build what God wants you to build so that wall can be completed. Now, there are some of you sitting here who haven't, hasn't done the first action, and that is moved on God's calling to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. You have been hearing the voice of God for years, months, days, weeks, I don't know how long. Some of you listening right now online, maybe you're in prison. You have been hearing God call you for a long time and you've decided not to move. Now is the time to move. You have seen the destruction in your life without God. God wants to give you a hope that you could never imagine. He wants you to come in so he can rebuild your walls for you. So he can rebuild the gates for you. You can't do it alone. Answer that calling today. As we go into this last song, this altar is for you. Do not move. Do not leave. I want you to be present in this moment. Now, for the others that have accepted that calling. Last week, we had the opportunity to sign up for different ministries, which we had a great turnout. But there are some of you that you felt that nudge and you decided to sit on your hands. You made those excuses that the enemy keeps putting in your head. There's still opportunity to sign up. Whatever area God is calling you, go do it. In fact, third service, we have the Connect Luncheon, where you can go get free food, hear from pastor and Sister Connie, what you can do at this church right now in this moment. Or you can go back here to the classroom and scan a QR code and fill out the list. Don't wait and don't leave it for the next generation. Don't wake up every morning walking out, seeing the destruction and doing nothing about it. Now is the time to move. Everybody stand where you're at. As I pray, we're going to go into this last song. If God is calling you, if His Spirit is nudging you, don't leave. Let's be respectful in this moment of worship. Of worship.

Trust me, lunch will be there when you get there. Your car is going to be there when you get there. Maybe you need to sit in some traffic long enough to let it linger in your spirit. Let's pray. Father God, I pray right now. I pray that your spirit begins to move amongst your people, Father. Those that have been hearing your voice for a long time and they've decided not to do anything about it, Father, I pray that your spirit is so heavy that they can't leave this room, that their legs can't move until they come to these altars and give their life to you, God. Let them give it to you, Father. Let them observe the calling that you have given them, O Father. Give them the revelation of hope that you want them to have. Help them to rebuild their walls, God. And then for the church that's here and they have accepted that calling, I pray that you reveal to them what their job is in this church today, where they can be a help and not a burden. They can do what you have called them to do, Father. I pray you reveal to them that frustration. That's my nudging move among your church today. In the name of Jesus Christ, the church says, Amen. More than Sundays, I want to know more than just my mother's faith, cause that's not enough to get through the rough. I need a Monday morning faith. I want to hear you in more than just one way. Show your voice in all of the mundane things. You're in the in-between. You're in my everything. And that's all I really need. My soul sings in the morning. I love the King and He loves me.

And all that I'm compelled to bring is my everyday offering. And let my worship be more than just singing. When did music become a religious thing? Oh, let these songs be what they're meant to be. The sound of your church awakening. And help my heart to keep up with the heavens. Where the angels sing 24-7 praise. More than enough to get through my rough. You're teaching me Monday morning faith. And that's all I really need. My soul sings in the morning. I love the King and He loves me. And all that I'm compelled to bring is my everyday offering. Your mercy's new. Your mercy's new. Every morning I come alive as you call it. And all that I'm compelled to bring is my everyday offering. It's everyday, Lord. Everyday. And hell's not scared of a Sunday faith if it only leads to empty praise. What really makes darkness run is when the saints are rising. Praising quiet on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday. To know you, to love you, to choose you first. And Thursday and Friday and Saturday. To see you, behold you in worship singing. Hallelujah, holy, holy. Glory to the King of Kings.
