God Doesn't Miss a Thing

All right, good morning 9 a.m. How's everyone doing this morning? Man I'm just here to tell you that 8 a.m. Was significantly louder than you so y'all better wake up. How are you doing this morning? Come on turn to your neighbor and say neighbor You look amazing today Now turn to your second choice. Come on the one that you did not want to talk to and Say you look better than a million bucks. You look better than a million bucks It is so good to be here with you today in church I want to look into the camera as well and say welcome to all those that are online and all of our first-time guests And Calvary Church, I want to give a special welcome now to the men and women who are watching from a correctional facilities Be a pando behind bars. Come on. Let's welcome them like you never have before You're not a project to us. You are family We love you men and women behind bars and we're so honored to be with you today today We're continuing our series through the book of Hebrews through the book of Hebrews If you have your Bibles, you can open up to Hebrews chapter 6 and my prayer today You got to participate with me today. All right, you got to have some energy. You got to have some life You got to have some excitement I love when the Word of God is preached the grass withers and the flowers fade But the Word of God is living and active and it always stands forever And so we got to have some excitement today because I hope that the Holy Spirit would provoke your heart today. I Hope that he would stir up some faith within you. I want to challenge you today Hebrews chapter 6 verse 10 says it this way God is not unjust Come on, someone say amen If you're thankful for that He will not forget your work and the love that you've shown him as you've helped his people and continue to help them I want each of you to show the same diligence to the very end So that you may have hope for that and it may be fully realized We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience Inherit what has been promised. I love this passage of Scripture and today as we continue our series through the book of Hebrews I want to make some Observations through this text that we are in I am thankful that we serve a God that while we may forget

And we may let go of things and we may not remember things But I'm thankful that we serve a God who never forgets his mercies are new and faithful every single morning Is anyone thankful that we serve a God who's the same yesterday today and forever? I would say that we serve a God of traditions Traditions, did you ever have any family traditions when you were growing up? My family had a whole bunch of different traditions that we were participating in One of my favorite traditions that we would have was on Christmas Eve my family six kids and then our two parents We always did secret Santa now anyone do secret Santa in your family. We always did that now my family We always open gifts on Christmas. And so I know some people open your gifts on Christmas Eve. You're weird No, I'm just kidding But we would open our gifts always on Christmas but on Christmas Eve after we went to our Christmas Eve services We'd late at night gather around the tree and we all would have picked someone a month before and that was the night where we got To exchange one gift and there's one gift of our secret Santa and I just remember that always being a family tradition For years and years and years every single year. We did secret Santa We also had a family tradition growing up that we would invite my parents would invite my extended family My cousins and my parents brothers and sisters would always come the week of 4th of July that week of 4th of July and they would always come It'd be like 20 people in addition to our six kids at our house And everybody would just be sleeping over like in the basement in each other's rooms the whole week. Nobody slept We celebrated and watched the fireworks. We did the same things every single year. Come on We ate the same food every single year because those were the favorites. We always had chicken Parmesan. Come on Someone thank God for chicken Parmesan. We always had meatballs. We always had Mexican dip We always had just chicken and fajitas together and buffalo chicken dip We always had the same thing every single day and it became our Tradition as a family my aunt and uncles would come and bring their kids my cousins every single 4th of July So much so my family and I just got back from Oklahoma and here we were 20-plus people all crammed into our house for a week We did all the same things even 20 years later, we ate the same meals we watched the fireworks together We played the same games and we all were now that we have kids Watching our kids play with each other with their cousins

We love traditions traditions by definition simply mean this a long established custom Passed down from one generation to the next from one generation to the next Traditions are the language of legacy Traditions bridge yesterday to tomorrow and what I love about traditions is it always shows the next generation It always shows those that are coming behind us Hey, this thing didn't start with you and you've got to carry it on because it's not going to end with you You're a part of legacy. You're a part of this family. You're a part of something bigger than yourself How many know that our God is into traditions our God created traditions? That's what the Passover supper is when you look to scripture, that once a year he made the Hebrew people sit around a table and drink the wine and eat the bread and eat the lamb. Why? Because he didn't want them to forget that he's the God who brought them out of Egypt. Oh, come on, someone. He's the God who brought them out of slavery. He's the God that set them free and brought them into the promised land. He said, I don't want you to forget that I'm the God who saved you, that I'm the God that brought you through. Come on, who's thankful today? That we serve a faithful God, that even while we are faithless and even while we forget, he never forgets. God created tradition so that we wouldn't forget, because you and I, we're forgetful people. The word of God says this, that even while we are faithless, our God remains faithful. You ever hear someone in society say this phrase, this has been a society that has coined this phrase the last couple of years, I've heard it over and over, oh, wait, bro, don't play with me. I got receipts. You ever heard that phrase? The young people down front, they know what that phrase means.

I got receipts. What they're saying is this, they're not referring to a grocery list when they say they've got receipts. They're not referring to checking out after a long day of shopping at different stores and they have many receipts. It's slang for I've got evidence. I've got proof. I've got screenshots. I've got the text message to expose you. So don't play with me, or I'll reveal the truth. And while it's used in culture more for a negative way to expose you or reveal your weakness to show your lies, Calvary Church, I've got good news for you today, that we serve a God who does not forget, but keeps all of our receipts and it's not to expose you today. Is anyone thankful that God keeps receipts to exonerate you, to reward you, to remind you what he's done and what you also do for the kingdom of God? Oh, come on and clap your hands if you're grateful for a God who doesn't forget you. God doesn't need traditions. We need traditions to pass down the faithfulness of God from one generation to the next. And that's exactly what this text is about that we're in today. Hebrews chapter six, three things, if you're taking notes, and I sure hope you are, that God keeps receipts on. Three things if you're taking notes. This is what the text says. Hebrews chapter six. Let's read it one more time. It says, God is not unjust. He will not forget your work and the love that you've shown them. Write this down today if you're taking notes. Number one, God keeps receipts on who you are.

For God is a good God. He's a gracious God. And he keeps receipts on who you are. That's encouraging to me today, and that should be encouraging to you today. Because as the writer is writing, he doesn't say that God remembers the crowds. He doesn't say that God remembers the audience. He doesn't say that God remembers the megachurch. No, no, it's far more near and dear. It's far more personal. It's far more intimate. God remembers you, and he remembers me. Oh, listen to me today. I might not know your name. I might not know your story. I might not know the baggage you walked in with today, but you need to know this today. You are not overlooked by our God. You are not unnoticed by your God. My Bible even says he knows the amount of hairs on your head. He knows the sand that's in the sea. He knows your name and your story. He cares about your worries, and he feels your fears. God keeps receipts on who you are. The book of Hebrews has often been debated on who the author actually is. But I would actually argue back that who the author of the book of Hebrews is not the point. The audience is who you should actually pay attention to, because the audience in the book of Hebrews is persecuted believers. It's tired Christians. It's believers who've grown weary and fatigued as believers, and they're now in need of encouragement. And here comes the writer, and what he says in Hebrews chapter 6 is, don't worry, Calvary

Church. Your God is not unjust. He does not forget anything. He sees you, and he knows your work. God knows your name, and God knows your story. God knows your name, and God knows your story. I'll prove it to you this way. Many of you wonderful Bible-believing Christians, you read through the Bible in a year. And one of your not-favorite days in the Bible in the year is when you read Matthew chapter 1, and it just lists a whole bunch of names. And so what you do as a good Bible-believing Christian is you just skip right over to Matthew chapter 2. And we know what I'm talking about right there. Because it just lists a whole bunch of names in the genealogy of Jesus. And you just think, that's not really important at all. But apparently to God it's important that God records every single name, because every single name and every single person played a part in bringing the Messiah, the greatest gift who came to save the world, into the world. Come on, is anyone grateful for a God who remembers who you are? What I love even more importantly than the genealogy of Jesus is that these people are not perfect people. Abraham lied, Jacob deceived, David committed adultery and murder, God's family tree is just as dysfunctional as you. Yet he didn't erase their names from his story. And I'm here to tell you today, it doesn't matter what you've done, it doesn't matter where you've been, it doesn't matter what your past has looked like, if you say yes to Jesus, if you confess your sin, it is covered under the blood of Jesus Christ once and for all. I even dare to say this morning, that God can even take your greatest pain and your greatest mistake and it could be the launching pad for the calling and the hand of God on

your life. Come on someone, give God praise today, that it doesn't matter where you've been or what you've done, God still wants to use you. Even what Matthew does would have shocked the first century. He includes five women in Jesus' genealogy. Now in that culture, they looked down on women, they disrespected women, they did not treat women as they should have been. And he lists five women, Rahab who has a broken past, Tamar's story who is messy, Ruth is a Moabite outsider, Bathsheba carries the scars of David's failure, and yet God intentionally leaves every one of their names in the record, why? Because if God didn't write them out of His story, then that should let you know, He's not writing you out of His plan and purpose that He has for your life. Come on, I believe God can use you today for His plan and purpose. God keeps receipts on who you are. God keeps receipts on who you are. I love what the writer Isaiah says, look at what Isaiah says, Isaiah said it this way, see, I've written your name on the palm of my hand. Go back to high school with me for a moment, anyone remember high school? Some of you older people, it'll take you a little bit longer to jog your memory to get there. You'll get there, don't worry. Everyone remember, picture yourself in high school, okay? Remember in high school when the teacher assigned you something last minute as a project that you have to do to make sure that you pass your class or to make sure that you get things done before the school year ends, and you gotta say, I gotta make sure that I get this assignment done, I gotta make sure that I get this taken care of, and the teacher gives you the assignment right as you're walking out of class. What do you do to make sure you don't forget it? You write it on your hand. You take your pen, you write it right on your hand.

What do you do? Maybe guys, when you're in high school, and you see this girl that you like, you think she's kind of pretty, and you go up to her and you start talking with her, and you're shooting your shot a little bit, you got some game a little bit, and finally you ask her for her number, and she gives it to you, what do you do? You write it on your hands. I promise you, I need to make a confession today, Kyla, I only did that once or twice, I promise. No, no, no, I never did that, but I only have eyes for you, okay, okay? It was temporary, it was temporary, all right? But listen, when somebody writes something on their hand, you write down that assignment that you have to do, or that girl's number, you write it down, you write it down with pen, and the moment that you wash your hands, or the moment that you get in the shower, that pen is going to fade off of your hands. But in the text, when God is saying in Isaiah, I have written your name on my hand, that is eternal, and it will never come off. What he's saying is, I love you, I chose you, I see you, I want to use you. God keeps receipts on who you are. But secondly today, God keeps receipts on what you do. God keeps receipts on what you do. I'm not making this up, this is just what the text says, Hebrews chapter 6, verse 10. God is not unjust, he will not forget your work, and the love you have shown him, as you have helped his people, and here's the key word, and continue, everyone say continue. Lord help me preach this today, and continue to help them. Notice the words that sticks out, he sees you, God knows your name, God knows your story, but he also keeps receipts, he remembers what you do, he remembers your work, he remembers your love for him, he remembers your devotion to him, he remembers how you've helped his people. My favorite phrase in Hebrews chapter 6, is where it says, he's remembered how you've continued to help his people.

In other words, lean in today, what that means is, I've got to keep this up, I've got to keep this going, again, and again, and again, and again, because anyone can start something in culture today, it takes someone to actually be faithful, and continue in something to actually last. Oh, I'm speaking to my generation today. It's not hard to start a marriage today. You can get married in just a couple minutes, how many of you know, it's hard to stay faithful in your marriage? Come on, it's not hard to start a family. I don't want to give you a biology lesson today in church, but it's not hard to start a family. How many of you know it's hard to continue to show up day after day to be a good father, to be a good mother, to keep showing up when you're tired, to keep showing up when you don't feel like it? Anybody can start a business today. Can you continue in that business? Can you build that business? Can you scale that business? Can you build a team around you? Anybody can show up at church one time, oh come on somebody, anybody can watch online three times, anybody can come for three months, oh but I'm looking for some people this morning that say I just don't want to attend Calvary Church when I feel like it, I just don't want to attend Calvary Church for three months, I want to be planted here for three decades as Psalm 92 says, blessed are those who are planted in the house of the Lord, for they shall flourish. Anybody can start something, but God remembers those who finish what they started. The story that came to my mind this week. What's the story of Ezra and Nehemiah? Today, God keeps receipts on what you do. So the story of Ezra and Nehemiah is this,

if you don't know, I'll give you a quick summary. Ezra rebuilt the temple, rebuilt the temple. Years later, Nehemiah rebuilt the walls. And Ezra opens up with these words. He says these words, the Lord moved the heart of Cyrus, king of Persia. Think about that. Cyrus wasn't even a follower of God. Cyrus wasn't even a follower of the way, yet God moved his heart to rebuild the house. Can I prophesy for a moment? I feel the Lord dropped this in my heart today, and I wanted to share it with you. I am so excited that I believe over the next 10 years, God is going to move in the heart of township officials and Delran and Sineminson and political leaders, and even people that are far from God, that doors are going to swing open for Calvary Church that have never been opened or explained before. Favor is going to come in unexpected places, and God is going to move an amazing way. Come on, if he did it for Ezra, won't he do it again for Calvary Church? And Nehemiah hears that Jerusalem is still lying in ruins with the walls, and even though the city has been destroyed more than a century earlier, his heart breaks as though it happened yesterday. Why? Because God's giving him a burden. People often ask me, they say,

Pastor Dan, how do I discover God's calling for my life? And many times I say back to him, your burden points you to your assignment. God breaks your heart for what breaks his heart, and he's now inviting you into his purpose. And again, I'll say the same thing. I'll prophesy to you this morning now and say, I believe over the next 10 years, God's going to give some in this room a burden for the things that break his heart. For some, it's foster care. For some, it's addiction recovery. For some, it's for the next generation. For some, it's for missions. Wouldn't it be amazing in the next 10 years if we were a church that raised up 50 missionaries that came out from our church to continue the mission and vision of no one without Jesus all around the world? Come on, how many believe our church can impact the world? You better believe it, because he's calling us to build his kingdom. And so Nehemiah arrives in Jerusalem, and he surveys the walls, and before he could build anything, he first had to face reality, because you cannot transform what you're unwilling to confront. And he gathered the people around them. And the moment that he gathers the people around them and they start to build the wall, opposition showed up.

Opposition showed up. It's Sambalah, it's Tobiah, it's criticism, it's fear, it's distraction, it's hardship, it's hatred. Can I encourage every entrepreneur in the room today? Can I encourage every leader today? Can I encourage every dream teamer in the room today? If you build anything worth building, get ready, because you're gonna attract critics worth ignoring. And they try to pull Nehemiah off the wall. And I love his response. Here's what he says in the book of Nehemiah. He says, I cannot come down because I'm doing a great work. Some of you, you need to tattoo that to your soul. The next time that somebody wants to pull you into their drama, the next time someone wants to pull you into their distraction or their dysfunction or their discouragement, your response to me, I am so sorry, I cannot come down. The work God has called me to do is too important. What's so fascinating about the story, Ezra and Nehemiah rebuilding the temple and rebuilding the walls is that there was no miracle that actually happened. There was no Red Sea that was parted. There was no fire from heaven. There was no angelic visitation. God's hand was on Nehemiah and God's hand was on Ezra and Nehemiah's hand was on the work. See, many times as a people, we want miracles

and hear me today, I am not against miracles. We still serve a God today who is in the miracle working business and with man, it may be impossible, but come on someone, nothing is impossible for our God and we pray for miracles and we ask for healing and we ask for signs and wonders. That's why we're having a week of prayer and fasting September 13th through 20th and I'm calling all of our church to a week of prayer and fasting, why? Because I want to pull you out of the summer slump. I want to put a fresh fire in your heart for the things of God and the ways of God and I want to believe for a harvest of souls and a harvest of dream teamers more than ever before. Come on, who wants to believe that? More salvations at a fall season than ever before at Calvary Church. More miracles, more lives changed. We are not against miracles here at Calvary Church, but I also say that many people want miracles, but very few people want to be submitted, men and women to God to see the miracle actually happen. So here's Nehemiah chapter three, one of the most overlooked chapters in the Bible because it's almost entirely a list of names. Here we go, another list of names, one you'd skip by on your Bible in a year daily reading. Family after family, person after person, section after section, receipt after receipt,

God recorded every single one of those names. In fact, Nehemiah three verse 14 says these words, the dung gate was repaired by Melchizedek. The dung gate, just so we're clear, so everyone's on the same page, the dung gate is the toilet. I'm trying to encourage somebody today. If God keeps receipts on who rebuilt the walls and who cleaned the toilets back in the book of Nehemiah, don't you tell me that what you're doing for God today is not seen and it's not value and it's not significant. Don't you tell me that you're serving is too small. Some of you need to hear this today. If you're too big. Serve, you're too small to lead in what God has for you in your future. So I want to say to every person that serves on the Dream Team today, thank you. Thank you for your faithfulness. Thank you for serving in the parking lot. Thank you for greeting people today at the doors. Thank you for seeing first-time guests and loving on them. Thank you for leading us in worship today, even though you might have some things that are going on in your life. God sees your faithfulness. Somebody may never thank you. Somebody may never appreciate you, but God sees you, and God keeps receipt of that. And one day when you stand before the Lord, not only will you hear that you get to go to heaven and you get to be in eternity with Him, you'll also get rewards laid out for you based on what you did here on this earth for the kingdom of God. God keeps receipts. God keeps receipts.

God keeps receipts on who you are. God keeps receipts on what you do, number two. And then number three, God keeps receipts on how you do it. God keeps receipts on how you do it. It's not just what you do, but it's how you do it. It's not just what you do, but it's the attitude that you carry when you do it. Oh, somebody needs to hear that today. It's not just what you do, it's the spirits in which you bring into your workplace with what you do. That's exactly what the writer says in Hebrews, Hebrews 6, 11 through 12. We want each of you to show the same diligence to the very end. We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. Did you catch that? Patience isn't just waiting, patience is how you wait. It's waiting with peace. It's waiting with joy. It's waiting with confidence that even though I can't see it, we just sang it this morning, he has good plans. If I know my father, my father has good plans. He's actually taking even the negative things in my life and working them together for good. He's working all things together for your good. Paul says the same thing about our generosity. It's not just that I give, it's how you give. For God loves a cheerful giver. Everything that I have, it belongs to the Lord. In other words, I don't have to, I get to give, I get to serve, I get to share my faith. I don't have to, I want to do it. Here's what the writer is teaching us, what he's teaching us is this principle. How you live your faith is shaped by who you imitate.

How you live your faith is shaped by who you imitate. Then he immediately gives us an example, the rest of Hebrews 6, he gives us an example. He points to Abraham and he says, long before the law ever commanded generosity, when I came through for Abraham, Abraham's heart responded with generosity in the tithe, 10%. In other words, the tithe predates the law. For all you, the tithe's only in the law, people. We're in the New Testament, we're fulfillment of the law. The tithe predates the law, the tithe's in the law. And I actually see a raised standard of generosity beyond the tithe actually in the New Testament as a fulfillment of the law. And after God gave him the victory, Abraham brought the first tenth of everything he had and gave it back to God. In other words, check this out, nobody twisted his arm. Nobody manipulated him. Nobody forced him. Nobody said you have to give, Abraham. His heart just simply overflowed with gratitude. That's why I always believe this, you can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving. Some of you need to hear that today. You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving. And he lists Abraham and he lists a couple others, what he's actually doing is he's giving a foreshadow next to the later chapters in the book of Hebrews, Hebrews chapter 11, which is the chapter which is called the Hall of Faith chapter, which actually looks back at the Old Testament and picks heroes of the faith, people that exercise this posture, not only of faith, but this attitude in which they did it that said, God, everybody's making fun of me, everyone's opposing me, but God, I will still trust you. So Noah built the ark, even though it hadn't rained for many, many years and everyone laughed. And Abraham obeyed God, even though he didn't know where he went to, and he obeyed God with faithfulness and he obeyed God with endurance and God blessed him and he became the father

of many nations. Moses is looking around, all the people are grumbling, the, the, the leaders are behind them, the, starting to attack the Israelites and all he sees in front of him is a Red Sea and he says, I don't have anything but I have a staff and he uses a staff and God parts the Red Sea. And David, even though he's a little man and he's standing in front of a giant, God uses David to defeat Goliath and Esther saved her people. It's this posture that says, you know what, I'm not only going to have faith, but I'm going to have this attitude that God, if you brought me to it, you're going to bring me through it. And that's Hebrews 11, it outlines our spiritual ancestry. Come on, some of you don't need Ancestry.com to find out about your relatives, you need Hebrews chapter 11, the hall of faith chapter, because this thing just didn't start with Calvary church. Come on someone. It's been generations before and it's generations that come until the return of Jesus Christ, of people who believed and people who gave and people who sacrificed and people who endured and people who exercise faith. Come on somebody, God keeps receipts. My prayer for us today as a church is that we'd see from the text that we can be a generation in the same way today in 2026, that dares to still believe God, that dares to still serve, that dares to still sacrifice, that dares to still give, that dares to still obey, that dares to still, in the book of Nehemiah, carry our section of the wall so that one day we may look back

and the words that are said concerning Calvary Church and the words that are said concerning our generation is that we were a church that chose faith over fear, that we were a church that chose God ways over our own comfort. Amen. You receive it? Come on. Come on. God is good. Close with this last story. Many years ago, a bunch of my family friends got together and again, we were vacationing together and we all went out to eat together, St. Augustine, Florida, a couple years ago. We all gathered to a restaurant. We were eating together. The drinks were flowing. Come on, strawberry lemonade, someone. I was drinking on it. It was good. Appetizers were out, three, four appetizers we had. We all had meals, laughing. They had to shut the place down. We were there for so long, okay? They finally kicked us out. They said, it's time to go. And somehow, on mistake or on accident, all of us that were there at that family party, we all walked out of the restaurant without paying. We didn't think, we just assumed one of the people there was going to pay. We're all family. And the person tracked us down and said, wait, wait, wait, nobody paid for this bill. It's a lot of money. Someone's got to pay for it.

All of us in that moment, we looked at each other and we all just pulled out our wallets and said, here's my credit card. I got it. I'll pay for it. See, the point of the story is this. It's not that either of us, all four of us and our families did not have the ability to pay. It's just that we didn't know that the other person wasn't going to cover it. Are you hearing what I'm saying today? Let's not be a church. Let's not be a church where we all don't do our parts. Oh, it's not that we don't have the ability to serve. It's not that we don't have the ability to give. It's not that we don't have the ability to tithe. I think sometimes if we're not careful, we just look around and see people already doing their parts. And so we say, you know what? I'm good. You know what? I can sit back. You know what? I can just coast a little bit. No, no, no. Let's say, no, no, no. We as a church, everybody's going to do their part. And if everyone does their part, the load will be lifted. Come on. We do our part, the load will be lifted and we'll reach one more person so that no one is without Jesus. Father God, I thank you for every person that's here. We love you. We bless you. We honor you today. Lord, you're a good God.

You're a great God. Lord, we thank you for the courage and the strength that you gave the heroes of the faith to stand firm and to trust you, even when it didn't look possible. And God, I pray, Lord, even these precious people here right now, that we would do our part today, that we wouldn't assume that somebody else has the part, Lord, that we'd find it and we take it. And then we do even the harder thing. It's not just enough to just start. We'd actually continue in it. Because God, you're not unjust. You won't forget our work. And God, you are keeping a receipt on what we do on this life. It's going to transition into eternity. We thank you for these things. In Jesus name.
