Exaltation | Part 3a
God is the Most High, above every circumstance, every battle, and every fire. Join Pastor James as he reveals how David, Abraham, and the three Hebrew boys point us to unshakable faith in El Elyon, the Most High God. ABOUT THIS SERMON In this powerful message, Pastor James preaches on The Most High God (El Elyon), reminding us that no matter what we face, God reigns supreme. Beginning with David’s blessing in 1 Chronicles 29 and Abraham’s encounter with Melchizedek in Genesis 14, he shows that victory and blessing come only from God and that our response should be both thanksgiving and praise. Unlike thanksgiving, which flows from what God has done, praise is rooted in who He is, unchanging and sovereign. The sermon closes with the inspiring faith of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who declared God’s ability to deliver them yet remained faithful even if He chose not to. This message will challenge and encourage you to trust, worship, and honor the Most High God in every season. KEY VERSES
ABOUT WORD OF GOD MINISTRIES It is the vision of WOGM to preach Jesus as the manifested Word of God! Our passion is to share the love of God to all people, to spread the hope of the gospel, and the power of faith to more people, in more places, in more ways than ever before. We are dedicated to winning the lost to Jesus and making disciples of the saved (John 8:30-32). Through the anointing of wisdom, knowledge and understanding, Pastor James seeks to expound on the Word of God, bringing clarity, and making it applicable to the hearer.
your sting?" And he said, "The last enemy that we defeat is death." Which means if you're going to win over death, what else can you not win over? We were at before the prayer in 1 Chronicles chapter number 29. If you would turn your attention back there if you hadn't got there yet, we're in 1 Chronicles number 29 verse number 10 is where we're going to read from as we talk about the most high, the most high God. And we need to be reminded in a world that's so broken and evil that he's still the most high God, amen. Sometimes our circumstances and the situations of this world want to dictate our faith. And we just need to be reminded today that he's still the most high, amen. I've read at the end of the book and in the end he wins, amen. We're going to look at these verses here today because I feel like there's something we need to apply and not just let these words be left on the page, but make them a part of our own declaration. Look at what David does here. We're in 1 Chronicles chapter 29 and we'll see it in verse number 10. We'll go all the way through verse 13 once more. In verse 10, "Wherefore David blessed the Lord before all the congregation." And David said, "Blessed be thou, O Lord God of Israel, our Father forever and ever." And this kind of, can I come down here and get on the floor and give me your face? I like being close, man. I want to be able to just almost smell your breath. I want to know you're telling me the truth. I just like being close. It feels more personal, all right? And so I might sit down next to you if you've got an empty seat, but we're going to get in this word today. David, David here in verse 10 is blessing the Lord. And when I read this, I'm reminded of something we looked at last week in Genesis 14, where
the Lord had come to Abram in Genesis chapter 12. And you guys welcome. I'm glad to have you here. Don't be nervous. I won't sit in your lap, but I will take a swick of that coffee right now. But where the Lord comes to Abram in Genesis 12, coach, and he says, "I have blessed you and I have made your name great." And the blessing was so heavy that God put on Abraham that he told Abraham, "If any man blesses you, they're getting with my program and I'll bless them for blessing you." And if any man curses you after I have blessed you, they will be cursed because they're working against my program. Church, that's so liberating. I know we brought it up last week, but it's worth repeating because with a word like that, I don't need to be worried about my enemies. Come on now. I don't need to be reading all the comments on social media. I can't even advise social media, but if you're there, don't read all them, come on. What was it matter with somebody thinks? You know, we're too caught up in people's comments. What did the Lord say over my life? What did he speak over my life? What is he said? There's no man has enough authority over me to have the last word. Y'all doing better than eight now, come on, here, clap with a little little quiet in here this morning. I like this. I must have had some cracker barrel. So he says, and by the way, the connection to what God has promised Abraham comes from Galatians 3.29, which says, "If you be Christ, then are you Abraham's seed?" So we're heirs to the promise that God made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and he is a generational
God. That's why when he came to Abraham, he promised Abraham's seed, and that's why when you read God speaking to Israel throughout the Old Covenant, he's called the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He's a generational God, and his blessing is generational in a world where we're aware of generational curses. We need to become more aware of generational blessing. And so the Lord in Genesis 12 tells Abraham, before he changed his name to Abraham, that he had blessed him, and I just want this to sink in to the degree that if any man blessed Abraham, he would be blessed. They would be blessed. And if you curse Abraham, you'd be cursed. That blessing that God put on him went beyond him. It affected the community and the relationships in his own life. And now it's one I just want to resonate before we go any further. He's gonna see the blessing of God when he came through this victory over this battle that he should've never came out of. He came out victorious and a battle he should've lost. Now, with that in mind, just briefly, let's turn our attention back to what we read here in 1st Chronicles 29, because verse 11 should become something that we declare. And we're gonna, we'll just look at this. So look in verse number 11, where David is blessing the Lord. And in verse 11, he says, "Thine O Lord is the greatness, "and the power, and the glory." Read that next one, "and the victory, and the victory." 1st Corinthians chapter 15 tells us that the last enemy that Jesus gives us victory over is death,
which means even death doesn't win. And it's easy for death to be the end for us because we haven't seen heaven. And it's easy to be heavy over death, especially in light of the circumstances that we've seen just this week when we think about death and its power. But to know that our Lord is risen from the dead and look back at death and said, "Where is your sting? "Come on somebody, hallelujah." And that the last enemy we defeat is death. That means death itself doesn't win. It's hard for us to grasp that because we haven't seen into eternity. We don't know the reality of eternal life, but Jesus didn't just come to give us abundant life, which we appreciate. More importantly, He came to give us eternal life. And He said, "The last enemy that we defeat is death." Which means if you're gonna win over death, what else can you not win over? Amen? So notice He says, "9 is the greatness, power, glory, "and the victory." And that's what Abraham was walking in in Genesis 14. He had just come out of a battle. He should've lost and he walked in victory. And when he did, he was met by this priest by the name of Melchizedek. We learn of him in Psalms 110 and in Hebrews chapter seven.
We're beginning in verse one in Hebrews chapter seven. We learn that Melchizedek is a type of Jesus and the Old Testament had no mother, had no father, had no beginning, had no end, but was made like the Son of God. And Melchizedek, this king and priest, we talked about him last week, when he met Abraham coming out of that victory, he says to Abraham, that's who his name would become, he says to Abraham, "Blessed be the Most High God "that hath given you victory." So he's letting Abraham know, see here you're already walking in it. You just came out of a battle, you should've lost, but the blessing of God and the word of the Most High God is evident on your life in that you just can't, church listen to him, they call him out, let me call him a time out. This is gonna come full circle if you'll stay with me. When we get to the end of this message, which will be in Daniel chapter three, I'm speaking the end from the beginning, when we get to Daniel three, we'll know it close, that don't mean it's time for you to raise somebody to the parking lot, no, it means it's time to buckle your seatbelt, what's the end gonna be? But in Daniel three, that's where we're gonna turn at the end, you're gonna see what I'm saying, come all the way back full circle. Because when Abraham came out of that battle,
he should have lost his priest, Melchizedek, a type of Jesus said, blessed be Abraham of the Most High God. In other words, it was his blessing, it was his word over your life that has brought you through something you should not have come out of. Am I talking to anybody that has come through something you shouldn't have come out of? You came out victorious through something you shouldn't have come out of. Or maybe you relate better to you are in something right now. You can't see your way out of. Because that might be fitting to your life right now where you feel like you're in something you can't see your way out of. And here's the beauty of it. Is that when you find the end of you, you find the beginning of him. You have to know that he answers humiliation with exaltation every single time. You gotta know that humiliation is not the last word, even if life right now is humiliating you. All right, all right. And it's hardest to remain humble when you feel humiliated. Or being humiliated. Well, it didn't stop there when Melchizedek, a type of Jesus in the Old Testament looked at Abraham and said, "Blessed be Abraham of the Most High God." Because Abraham had just come out of something
he shouldn't have come out of. No, then this priest Melchizedek, a type of Jesus, then says on behalf of Abraham back to God and blessed be the Most High God. Notice how that went. He went, I'm gonna get Jacoby to come help me. And today's his birthday, he just turned 20 years old. (audience applauds) Glory to God. (audience applauds) (applause) Even though she's 15 So I told you I'm reading on your birthday man. Here you are. So watch this you're gonna be Abraham All right, so the priest Melchizedek I'm gonna be the priest and you just came out of a victory You just came out with victory in a situation you shouldn't have walked out of okay And so the priest looked at at Abram Elchizedek and he said blessed be Abram of the most high God In other words the reason let's just take you through this bad life come over here And I want you to just walk toward me because you just come through something all right And here I am because the Bible says Melchizedek met him and he just came out of that battle And then when he met him he said blessed be Abram of the most high God In other words you just came out of that situation because the most high God has spoken that over your life And he's spoken it over his life two chapters earlier Two you have to peel back two chapters to see where he said it But it manifested in the 14th chapter That's why you got to always pay attention because you never know when that word is gonna manifest as we heard Ryan speak of earlier Sometimes the word is 13 years in the making I was invited to a conference many many many years ago and not they not that many because I ain't that old But anything 1130 service, so they can handle all these stories that means the truth, but it's a story So I'm invited to this conference it was a set up because these people wanted to
Give me a tongue ration because I was a white pastor at that time in a predominantly black church All ten of our members nine were black so that they didn't that didn't go over well back in the day And so it was a set up and so I go to this conference I'm there and then this guy from another state gets up and all the pastors were Asked to sit on the front row and so when I got there they said hey pastor come sit on the front row And I was like no, you know I didn't have any piece was said on the front row and I was like nah And I said with sister Rose on the second row. I was sister Rose were here She was here at eight o'clock So I'm sitting on the second row and all the pastors that were really something were seated on the platform And so the pastor that was from out of town got up and he and he spoke prophetically And he said there's a voice here that has a national voice Your ministry has a national voice. He said it's coming and so all the guys on the platform begin to stand up one at a time And the pastor was prophesying turn around and he said all y'all sit down it's not you Yes So then all the pastors on the front row started standing up and he looked at me said all y'all sit down It ain't none of you either And sister Rose grabbed my hand leaned over she said pastor I said I don't want to say you to hear 9 members 10 members God always have what he says over your life And you don't even really know it at the time That's the thing is you don't necessarily know it at the time You have to look back and say wow he said that because sometimes not like I could say a word came out Amen that word fuels me. No, sometimes you have to live life to look back and say wow That's why that's why Melchizedek was there to meet abra when he walked out of that victory to make sure he knew You do know what you just walked out of is because you have been blessed by the most high god That's why I assemble. That's why I get into prayer. That's why I need to praise I need my priests to remind me There are some things I've walked out in my life that I didn't do by my own power that I didn't do my my own intellect But I didn't do by my own strength. It was nothing but the blessing of God that got me from where I was to where I am
And in Melchizedek this type of Jesus is there to tell Abraham that blessed be Abraham of the most high god Don't get the big edge and don't put your militia out for hire Because the man did have his own military abra, but he wasn't big enough to take out all those kings It was so powerful the victory that the king of sodom came to Abraham at the end of the battle He read this in Genesis 14 and he said, hey, let's make a deal, man If you give me the people I'll give you all this boy We'll start we can do some stuff and Abraham said no, I'm not making no deal with you man Because you mess around say you made me rich He said I have already stretched my hand to the most high god In other words, I'm already in a covenant. I ain't got to make a deal with you already made a deal with him come on somehow Well then then you look like you get ready because you boy dancing when you get ready You just like your spiritual father me God That's gonna be the only thing you stop this message of me wanting to eat. When he said blessed be Abram of the Most High God, letting Abram know what you just came through was because of God's blessing. It's manifesting on your life, just like he spoke two chapters earlier. Then his priest not only is speaking on behalf of God to Abram, blessed be the Most High God, he then says, and blessed be the Most High God. In other words, the priest mediated what God was saying to Abram, and what Abram could say to God, Jesus the priest not only gives us what he receives from the Father, he takes from us and gives to the Father. And I'm gonna say this and then we'll move forward. It would be wrong for you and I to walk out of a victory, or with a victory, to walk out of a situation we know we didn't do.
(audience laughs) Help him again Jacoby, you just walked out of something that you should have never came out of, all right? And here you come, out of something you should have never, how did you come out of that? And there's your priest that said you because you're blessed of the Most High God. It would be wrong to stop right there. No, then Melchizedek says, and blessed be the Most High God. In other words, don't you dare walk out of a battle that you shouldn't have won. Don't you dare walk through life with a victory and not bless the one that gave it to you. Come on somebody, Jesus healed 10 lepers, but only one came back to say thank you. There is something about acknowledging who it was that they got you through. Thank you money, all right, happy birthday. So watch what David is doing here. See, I'm not off the text. Watch what David is doing here. Verse 10, wherefore David blessed the Lord before all the congregation, and David said, read a church, blessed be thou Lord God of Israel. See, I'm magnifying the Lord for every good in my life, for every victory. And notice the praise that's coming forward. Look at verse 11, I want streetboard and bozer to declare it out loud, ready, declare. Thine, oh Lord, is the greatness and the power
and the glory and the victory and the majesty for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine. Thine is the kingdom, oh Lord. And thou art what exalted as head above all. Look at him, both the riches and honor come from the, you reign overall, in your hand is power and might. And in thine hand is to make great and to give strength unto all. Therefore, look at verse 13, now therefore, now we know around here, word of God, that the therefore is? - Therefore is. - It's always there for a reason. Anytime you read therefore, you've got to know what the therefore is there for. The therefore in verse 13 is a connection to verse 12. Now therefore our God, we thank thee and praise thy glorious name, and those are not the same thing. Thanksgiving is taken inventory of what he has done in my life, and what I've experienced in my life, the tenables that I can see, thank you for my home, thank you for this food, thank you for these clothes, thank you for my family, thank you for my children, thank you for this that and of. Thanksgiving is based on what I see and what I've experienced. Praise doesn't have anything to do with me. Praise is consumed with who he is and what he has done. That means I can be sick and praise him for being a healer. That means I can be broke and praise him for being a provider.
That means I can be anxious and praise him for being the Prince of Peace. My praise is not based on my experience. My praise is not based on my circumstance. My circumstances cannot dictate my praise. That's why praise confuses your enemy, because praise should not necessarily fit your life. You can be going through that in high water and praise tells the enemy, I might be going through it, but I'm not going to it. Praise is consumed with who he is and what he's done, and there's nothing in my life that changes his status. And we'll see this when we get to Daniel chapter three. There's nothing I'm facing that changes who he is. And the world can get heavy, and it can be dark. We've had a week where I know so many have experienced that darkness when you see how broken a society could be. that heaviness just wants to vet your spirit and pull you down. You just wanna collapse under the weight. But we've gotta read this word and know what Jesus said. Know the things he warned us of. Know that he's always gonna get the final word. Even when it don't feel like it. Even when it don't seem like it. Lord, I trust you. You will have what you have spoken. And only God can take a wicked evil and turn it for good, but he's just that big and he's just that powerful. We have to trust that he's able.
Amen? - Amen. - All right, go with me too. Wherever was I told you to go from here. I didn't tell you, all right, go to Psalms 57, Psalms 57. Now let me say this in light of what we just read. And I wish I'd had you write this down before we turn from it. But if you're one that writes in your Bibles, you could turn back over to the 1st Chronicles 29 and write Matthew 6-9 next to those verses. Because in Matthew 6-9, Jesus taught us how to pray. He said, "Pray like this, "Our Father which art in heaven, "hallowed be thy name." So that's name and address, Father heaven. If you're writing somebody and you're name and address, our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, majestic be thy name, holy be thy name, reverend be thy name, sanctified be thy name, powerful be thy name, hallowed be thy name, no name like thy name. Now women, first petition of the prayer. Fourth clause, but first petition, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, where, on earth, as it is in heaven. So the kingdom life, and we're talking about the kingdom on Wednesdays, in our Wednesday study, the kingdom life is all about the will of heaven manifesting in the earth. And knowing that my king has all dominion. That's what the kingdom is, it's the king's domain, the king's dominion, and that he has the authority
for his will to manifest in the earth as it is in heaven. And that there's not a power source in earth to prevent the will of heaven. Think about that in your own life. There's not a power source, not an authority, not a jurisdiction on earth that can stop the will of heaven. I feel like sometimes we think that we believe it, that some force in heaven is gonna stop the, some force in earth is gonna stop the will of heaven, but he can't. Are y'all aware of what I told you to go? Go with me to Psalm 57, let me say this while you still turn there. We tend to take on the image of what we worship. Let me say it another way. We tend to take on the mindset, the mood. We tend to take on the position of what we worship. So if you worship a thing like an idol, if that thing is going good, you're going good. If that thing starts going bad, you start going bad. Y'all are something else to death. I don't know who I'm, I'm about to walk down an hour. Have you ever heard of relational faith? That means I have faith because the first I'm in a relationship with. In other words, I'm in church 'cause they're in church. I'm praying because they pray. I believe now because they believe. Don't act like they ain't somebody in here that didn't go after her because she,
and she was a believer, so I was like, you became one. You're like, hey, I'll get baptized. Join your church by King James Bob. I just want you being mine. Nobody here? All right, it's relational faith. It's not necessarily in your heart. It's in somebody else's. And since things are going good with them, now you give Jesus the glory. But then she told you, leave me alone. This is not what I want after all. Young gave away your Bible, out of church. In other words, you were you were all in with Jesus when Jesus was giving you what you wanted But when that theme wasn't right then now he dictated you That's why idols and Closhes 3 says anything you've covered is an idol That's why idolatry so dangerous is there's nothing that's ever gonna be completely consistent in your life Sometimes the money gonna come sometimes it's gonna go. So where will your faith be when it goes? But the Lord is the same yesterday today and forever and when you begin to walk with him Then you know that he is consistent and even when I don't feel like it. I know he's worthy of my praise I'm not letting my circumstances dictate my faith. I know my best day and my worst day It's the blood of Jesus that redeems me. He didn't promise me every day would be a good day He forewarned me they'd be bad days. He didn't just say the rain would fall on the unjust He told me you would fall on me too. He's been he's been transferred about the kind of life. He called me too My point is is that whatever you've made God in your life is what dictates your mood If you've made God little your faith is little We made him too little Come on now Man will never get away From being made in God's image
I'm going to take on the image of what I worship I want everybody to take on the image you heavenly father Well, I want to thank you for allowing me into your viewing area today And I hope that you were blessed by the ministry of God's word Our broadcast is made possible through the faithful financial support of our members and partners here in this viewing area And I want to encourage you to prayerfully consider supporting the work of this ministry So that we can take the message of Jesus as the manifested word of God reaching more people in more ways and in more places Than ever before. Thank you for your support What have you made me to God What have you seen him do but you don't believe he can do this? What has he done that yes, he could have done that but he can't do this. What's your meat? The world needs what we possess the only hope for a dark world is the light of Jesus Christ Let your light so shine Oh You a a (gentle music)
