Exaltation | Part 2b
Jesus humbled Himself, but God exalted Him with a name above every name. Pastor James reveals how Christ’s supreme authority brings blessing, power, and hope that no human can reverse. ABOUT THIS SERMON In this message, Pastor James continues the series tracing the journey of Jesus Christ from incarnation to exaltation. He emphasizes that the name of Jesus means God saves and carries supreme authority as the Son of the Highest (El Elyon). The sermon explores how Jesus humbled Himself through incarnation and death, but was then highly exalted by God with a name above every name. Pastor highlights that Jesus has all authority in heaven and earth, and that no jurisdiction can limit His power. Using Abraham’s story, he illustrates that when God blesses someone, no person can successfully curse them. The sermon also reminds us that humiliation is never the last word. When we respond with humility, God brings exaltation in His time. Pastor challenges us to be mindful of the words we speak, to use them to bless rather than curse, and to align our speech with what God has declared. This message will strengthen your faith in the unshakable authority of Jesus Christ and encourage you to walk in the power of His blessing. KEY VERSES
ABOUT WORD OF GOD MINISTRIES It is the vision of WOGM to preach Jesus as the manifested Word of God! Our passion is to share the love of God to all people, to spread the hope of the gospel, and the power of faith to more people, in more places, in more ways than ever before. We are dedicated to winning the lost to Jesus and making disciples of the saved (John 8:30-32). Through the anointing of wisdom, knowledge and understanding, Pastor James seeks to expound on the Word of God, bringing clarity, and making it applicable to the hearer.
Why do we get so caught up with what people say over our lives? That contradict what God has spoken. Why do we stay up all night? Wonder about what somebody's saying, trying to chase down every line. And when you know you've been blessed, Lord, don't worry about what people say about you. [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] Watch this in Luke chapter 1. We've been in a series study taken from Philippians chapter 2 where we give this story of Jesus from glory to glory. And you can write that in your notes from glory to glory. And what we've studied so far in that story of Jesus from glory to glory is we've studied the incarnation of Jesus, the humiliation of Jesus, and now we're into the exaltation. And we'll turn over there again in just a minute because we may have new viewers watching our telecast that wasn't a part of this, because we've been in this now for a few months. And I want you to see this story of Jesus from glory to glory. Can you say that out loud from glory to glory? It's from incarnation all the way to his exaltation. We could go a step further and talk about his adoration, which is where we are today. But notice here from the moment that the announcement came of conception that we get the name Jesus. When the angel came and told Mary,
you shall conceive in thy womb and bring forth the sun. I'm in Luke 131, say it like you believe it, and shall call his name Jesus. Again, Jesus is the English transliteration of the Hebrew name Yashua. The closest thing you see to it in scripture in the Old Testament is the name of Joshua, or Yashua. Yah, God, Shua, saves. So the name Jesus literally means God is salvation, or God saves. When you say the name Jesus, you're speaking of salvation. That's the power that's in that name, amen? And if anybody's ever called on it in faith, you know his name is salvation. Now, verse 32 says that he will be called the son of the highest. And any time you read in the Bible and the Old Testament are new, most high God or God most high are highest. That is a Hebrew name of God in the Old Testament called El Elion. For note-takers, that's E-L-E-L-Y-O-N, El Elion. It just sounds cool. So let's just say it, El Elion. What does it mean it's the most high God? That name and that authority is what Satan coveted in Isaiah chapter 14. That's the seat. That's the position that Satan wanted as Lucifer in heaven. He wanted to take that seat of the most high God. It represents his supreme authority.
Now, real quickly, go with me to Philippians chapter two because that was the announcement given at Jesus' birth. And there had to be a time for the natural mind in the life of Jesus to wonder if what was spoken at his birth would come to pass. Because if he is the son of the highest, why was he born in a stable? And if he is the son of the highest, why is it that shepherd show up at his birth? And if he's the son of the highest, why does he grow up in a city called Nazareth if he'd want to call it a city when it was a city, when it was really just a small community. It was the furthest thing from a city on a hill because it was actually on a slump. And it said that no more than 12 families lived there. And you didn't really have a reputation if you came out of Nazareth. When Jesus announced that he was the Messiah, they said, can anything good come out of Nazareth? So the story of Jesus' incarnation in his life doesn't point to what was spoken at the beginning. And that's so important for you and me because we all come from various backgrounds. And the beauty is, is that our history does not define our destiny. It doesn't matter what neighborhood you were born in or where you came from, that has no bearing or effect on what God's plan is for your life. And here at Conception, the word of the Lord over Jesus is,
you are the son of the highest and you shall be called great. - Oh, hallelujah. - Watch this in Philippians. verse 6 it says, "Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God." This speaks of his incarnation. If you didn't catch that earlier in the series, deity wrapped in humanity. Verse 7, "But made himself of no reputation and took upon him the form of a servant and was made in the likeness of men," we're still seeing his incarnation, watch verse 8, "and being found in fashion, exterior as a man, he humbled himself." Now we begin to see his humiliation and became obedient unto death even the death of the cross. But humiliation was not the last word. Just like humiliation is never going to be the last word in our lives, there are going to be times that we are going to face humiliating situations, either by life or by people, sometimes of our own doing. But we have to remember that humiliation is never the last word. If we can respond to life in humility, if we can respond to others and to God in humility, then exaltation will always follow humiliation. So you almost have to look at humiliating situations in your life as a set up. That what situation am I facing right now that is a set up if I'll just stay humble, if I'll just choose humility, the Lord can show up and do what only the most how God can do. For me to look at my situation, my circumstance and know that no man has the last word over my life. No situation has the last word over my life. My father in heaven's word will come to pass in my life. And we'll see that unfold here in the next few minutes. Wherefore, after his humiliation, verse 9, wherefore God also have highly what? Exalted him.
So now we're into exaltation and giving him a name which is above every name. And there is no name like the name Jesus. I know I've said this before but it's just the truth. I don't really like my handwriting if I, you know, sometimes I wonder what I wrote. My handwriting is so bad. But when I write the name Jesus, it just looks good. I love the name of Jesus. I love looking at it. I love writing and I love saying it. There is something about the name of Jesus. And if you didn't need anything else, the enemy can show us the reality of his name. Oh, yeah, you're hearing what I'm saying, do you? Because it's the only name you hear constantly, folk trying to ban. But you can't ban the name. They've been trying this as Acts chapter number four. When they say stop preaching in that name. Peter said, if you think we're going to listen to you or listen to God, you be the judge. And in Acts chapter four, they went into prayer and they said, Lord, they're threatening us. They're trying to stop us from preaching and teaching in your name, which you grant us boldness. And the Bible says in Acts chapter four, verse 31, that they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and they spanked the word of God with boldness. So the attempt to silence the name only fueled the preaching of the name. And I feel the same way in my own life, amen. I want his name on every city street. I want his name everywhere we can get it because you never know who might look up and see the name Jesus and call on his name because there is salvation in his name, there is power in his name, there's healing in his name, and there's no name that has more authority than his name.
Look at this next verse. He says here in verse number nine, we're for God also have highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name. There's no name higher than the name of Jesus. Church, don't be ashamed of his name. I feel like for too long we've prayed these politically correct prayers. You know, we pray and dear God, we thank you for this gathering. We ask that you bless this food and your name, amen, whose name, who are you talking to? Jesus said whatever you ask the Father, my name shall be given. I know it's politically correct to leave his name out of your prayer, but we don't need no political correctness. We need truth. His name saves. His name saved me. When I prayed and called on him, I didn't say in your name, I said Jesus saved me. I know there's power in his name. He saved me. There's a name that represents a person. The name represents a person. You don't walk up to somebody and say, "Hey, your name." Man, we were approached recently by a couple of schools in Cattle of Paris. fields and, you know, we put painters everywhere. Next time you go to a mutt bucks game, check out what's going on in that coliseum. We got the name of Jesus all over it on commercials. Now we want a little thing that claims the ice. I'm always looking to get the name out there. And we got it on billboards and everywhere else. Man, we got a message from the school board attorney saying you can't put that banner up
because the name of Jesus. Yeah, really, I hate to tell you it's the truth, but it did. But you know what, I wasn't surprised because, you know, folk won't be folk in the world, won't be the world. And some people think the First Amendment was written to protect the state from the church. But in reality, it was written to protect the church from the state. Read it again. So they brought it to them. And they said, pass, or they didn't turn the banner down. We can't hang the banner down. Oh, two other churches got their banner, but you can't hang your host because you just got Jesus on it. I said, all right, well, let's do what everybody is doing. Just put the name of the church on the bed. And when we did cheat, we put the name of our church on the bed. Our name is the word of God ministries. [LAUGHTER AND APPLAUSE] I see you smiling, brother Jefferson. Revelation 19, 13 says his name is the word of God. No, but it came back to COVID. It came back to the city, the attorney for the cattle prayer school board, wrote us back again. No, I can't put that name. It's got God on the banner. So we've been turned down. But that won't stop all these billboards and buses and preaching and everything else.
It won't stop students in those schools for calling on the name of Jesus. You cannot ban the name. And every time I've seen the enemy try to do something, I've watched the Lord show up. So I'm just in expectation that it won't be long. I'm going to be thanking whoever it was that was responsible because I feel like somebody had their hand in that. It may be a word of God. Hey, but you better know that the Lord always just the last word this thing is going to turn for His glory. I'm not worried about that banner on those fields. It ain't going to stop the athletes on that field who believe in His name. Amen. Something about the name Jesus. Hey. Wherefore God, verse 9, also hath highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name. I don't know what you're facing right now in your life. What sickness, what disease, that situation. But there's no name that has more authority or more power than the name of Jesus. Verse 10, that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow of things in heaven and things under the earth and things in the earth and under the earth and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. If you don't do it now, you're going to do it then. I'm glad I had a chance to do it already.
Go with me to Matthew, chapter 28. I want to build up your faith today in the name of the Most High God, because there's no situation we face that He's exempt of, that He's limited in. Or that means put it another way, or that He has no jurisdiction open. Man, this is just welcome to 11.30. I don't know what's going to happen. Oh, man, glory to God, I'm awake on this service where they turn that clock off. Let me preach until they get the salmon grilled. Throughout the Bible, there have been individuals that thought they had more power than the Most High God over His children. And I know all of us in our own ways are facing something that acts like it has more authority, than your faith, than your God, than your Father, than your Savior, but it doesn't. Oh, it may look like it, but it don't. Because in reality, I'm going to show you here in this word that no man can't curse. He don't have enough authority. Well, God has blessed. And once you recognize the blessing of the Most High God in your life, you'll stop staying up all night wondering what people are saying about you. Because they don't matter. Because no man can curse from the Lord has blessed. And these are not my words.
These are the words I'm going to show you in Scripture. So the Lord has called me to live a life for His glory. And notice what we read here in Matthew chapter 28 when you get over there and just say amen. It ought to get you excited when man tries to curse you. To be like, "Lord, what are you going to do now?" Oh, hallelujah. Because so much that we face in life is a setup, amen. Don't be moved by the trial, the glory's coming. Don't be moved by the humiliation, exaltation is coming. That's what Jesus said. That's what 1 Peter chapter five tells me. That I just stay humble under the mighty hand of God that he may exalt in due time. And only God knows when that due time is, but he always gives the last word. Hey, are you all with me? Watch this in Matthew 28 verse 18. Ryan, you must be stirred up by this word. I mentioned third service, man, you triple dipping. Give me a dab for being a triple dipper. Glory to God. Notice verse 18, look at the red, Jesus talking. All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Shreveport and our Bozier campus, read it out loud. All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. That word power there is the Greek word exusia, and it means jurisdiction, jurisdiction. Jurisdiction is the domain that a person has authority over. Jesus said, my jurisdiction is in heaven and in earth.
There is no place I don't have jurisdiction. It's time for the church to realize you don't have to be in church for your prayer to count. You don't have to be in the assembly or in a building for your faith to count. And we're not limited to the name of Jesus and His word just in a building because the world would love to lock up our faith and keep it in our little sanctuaries. But no, no, no, there's no jurisdiction to the authority that the most high God has over my life. He can bless you at school, he can bless you on the job, he can bless you wherever you are. He can move in a prison, he can move in a hospital room. There's no place he is evicted. There's no place that he can't step into. You can't put up a no trespassing sign on Jesus. Because he has all authority in heaven and in earth. So let's read that in verse 18 again. All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Now read up to the common, verse 19, go ye therefore. Or I could read it, therefore go ye. So notice since he has all power in heaven and in earth, go ye. Come on now. Jesus said I have all authority in heaven and earth, therefore go. What's he saying? Go, I've got all the authority. But Lord, can I go there, you can go there. I've got all authority in heaven and earth,
so therefore you can go. His name and his power is not locked in what we call a church. His name and his power are available anywhere and everywhere you go. That's your home, that's your job, that's that class, that's driving down the road. That's anywhere you go. There is power in his name. We'll act one way like in this assembly, and then we'll act another way when we step outside. Stop changing who you are because of where you are, because there's no jurisdiction that has Jesus limited. Does that make sense? Our go women to Genesis, we're gonna go to chapter 14, but I wanna start in chapter 12, because chapter 12 sets it up. And the reason I wanna go to Genesis chapter 14 is because in Genesis 14, we're gonna get the first use of the name of God, El Elian, our Most High God. And for me, when I study the word, I love to see a first mention. In other words, any topic you're studying in Scripture, if you go back and look at the first mention, you'll find God's original intent, the first mention. First mention establishes the foundation, it establishes the purpose, it is the origin, and so we're gonna get the first mention of this Most High God in Genesis chapter 14, and it is directly connected to Jesus. Now, we'll finish this all today.
We'll pick this back up. We'll end next week, we're gonna get back into this, but I want you to see that the Most High God, has the last word in heaven and in earth, that there is nobody, even when they think they do, can undo what he's done. [BLANK_AUDIO] If he wills it, what can stop it? If he wills it, who can stop it? All I really need to know is what is your will, Lord, because whatever your will is, nothing can stop it. I can rest in that. I don't want to stay up all night worrying. I don't have to wonder about how many people have come together against me if he wills it, what can stop it? Who has enough authority to tell an almighty God he can't do what he said he would do? He'll always have what he says. Even when it don't look like he's having what he says. Sometimes things can go backwards and they're going forward. (audience applauds) - Man, we were to God started for five years, we were in the LSU-S meeting in the University Center. We rented that space. And then this church went for lack of better words, closed its doors and we took their lease and bought their furniture and we were to God finally had a physical location.
And then we grew like 70 people. Oh! It was like Easter Sunday, every Sunday. I mean, we were growing. And we only bought 100 cheers. I'm already thinking about, man, look at this. But before we moved into this lease facility, we had bought our old location eight acres right down the street and we were saving our money to build down the street. We were roughly about $30,000 away from being able to build. And man, we no sooner moved in this location on Greenwood Road and the church started growing and then lo and behold, the building we were in sold. And the owner came to us, he said, Hey, I'm selling the building. I want you to meet with a new owner. I said, okay. So we met with him in a new owner that was buying the building. He said, listen, don't worry about the thing. I'm not even gonna charge y'all rent. So the previous owner was like, well, hallelujah, this is gonna work in your favor. I don't wanna see this church. Something happened 'cause they're trying to build. We were in there two weeks on the new owner and he evicted us. (congregation laughing) Now, I didn't know where, man, this thing going backwards. Back then we had Sunday night service.
So that evening, I had to let the church know. I said, hey, we gotta get out of here. We got two weeks. We're gonna take up an offer. We need $30,000 to build. And we didn't start it yet. That night we took up $800 and offer. I'm driving down the road, minding my own business in the phone ring. It was a contractor. He said, can you come to my office tomorrow at 4.30? I said, yes, sir. He said good, he said, I got this contract. Let's get that building built. And I said, well, we ain't got that 30,000 yet. (congregation laughing) He said, we'll talk about it tomorrow. (congregation laughing) So when I got to his office, I said, and he pushed the new contract down. I said, what about that 30,000? He looked at the contract. He knocked 30,000. He took care of the 30,000 that we needed. (congregation applauding) And I said, what happened? He said, the new owner told me what he did to y'all. And when I heard what he had done, he said, I was moved in that moment. I can't let that happen.
I can't let that church not have a place. He says, well, I took care of the 30,000. (congregation applauding) See, my point is, in the moment I could have thought, man, what are you doing, man? Putting us out. I don't know what the deal was, but I know God work. (congregation applauding) Sometimes God will take you backwards to take you forward. He always gets the last word, and when it looks like it's getting worse, you better get ready, because humiliation will come right before exaltation. You'll be down thinking, oh man, what am I gonna do now? And I say, you better, you better pay attention. (congregation applauding) The Lord will always have what he says. - Amen. - Amen. - No man can curse. I'm about to show this to you in scripture. No man can curse what God has blessed. We're foolish to try to stop it. (congregation applauding) That's why you should never curse anybody. And cursing doesn't mean you use a foul language. That's foul language. 'Cause you can curse somebody and never even say a bad word, ugly word, and we curse our sales
and we curse people all the time. We're so connected to generational curses that we'll speak it on people. What's John and Susie? generational curses, quick. What happened to Tommy's job? Oh, well, you know, he lost it. How long is on that job? Two months, just like his uncle. Y'all know how we do. Come on now. Quit relating to generational curses. Yes, they're real. But God has called us to walk in a generational blessing. We need to recognize that no man can curse whom the Lord has blessed. Therefore, I got to be careful with my words when I speak about you and do what my daddy taught me when I was young, when he says, "Son, if you can't say something good about somebody, don't say nothing." Because I don't want to be the one speaking a curse over your life and me bringing it back on myself. So watch Genesis chapter 12 when you get there, say, amen. That was all bonus material. I wasn't able to share the first few services. All right. Watch this in Genesis chapter 12. Verse 1, "Now the Lord has said unto Abram, get thee out of thy country and from thy kindred and from thy father's house unto a lamb that I will show thee." Sometimes you got to disconnect so you can't connect. So there was something about Abraham's family that God had to get him disconnected from so we could do what he wanted to do. Verse 2, he said, "And I will make of thee a great nation and I will bless thee and I will what bless thee and make thy name great and thou shalt be a blessing." Now as we read about Abraham, write in your notes Galatians 3 29 because Galatians 3 29 says, "If you belong to Christ, you are Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise." That means every promise that God made Abraham, we become
heirs of in Christ. Amen. Well I want to thank you for allowing me into your viewing area today and I hope that you were blessed by the ministry of God's Word. Our broadcast is made possible through the faithful financial support of our members and partners here in this viewing area. And I want to encourage you to prayerfully consider supporting the work of this ministry so that we can take the message of Jesus as the manifested Word of God, reaching more people in more ways and in more places than ever before. Thank you for your support. To know that our Lord has risen from the dead and look back at death and said where is your steam and he said the last enemy that we defeat is death which means if you go win over death what else can you not win over? Healer, deliverer, way maker, peacemaker, provider, salvation, everything in one day. He is the capital S son of God. He's man enough to relate and God enough to demonstrate his power in the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God. The Word was God. Verse 14 and the Word became flesh and we beheld his glory.
