Driven Re-Entry Transitional Houses

What's up, guys? Pastor Logan here at Life Fellowship Church in McKinney, Texas. My TDC number is 1490218 and I have four numbers after that, which means I got out of prison many times and then I went back and then I got out again and then I went back and got out again and I went back. And so I understand the frustration, the anxiety, the, God, man, is this it? Here we go again? Like, is this going to be my life? I understand that cycle and that's why I share that with you. I don't share that with you to boast or anything. I share it with you because I've been there and I know, man, it's frustrating. And so today we want to talk about reentry. What is it going to take to actually be successful when we hit the gate? Because oftentimes when we're, when we're in there, I know, man, it's, it's, it's terrible. It sucks. It's hot, especially now. It's, it's the grind. It's the anxiety. It's all this stuff. And all we can think about sometimes is that day that I'm going to hit the gate. But, but we, but very rarely do we think about what am I actually going to do when I hit that gate? And it's very important, man, because what I've learned in my own faith journey is man, that, that enemy will rush at you. The world will rush at you when that day comes. And if you're not prepared for it, and if you don't have a plan in place, sometimes you're just, you're easy pickings for the enemy, which was my case. Um, I'm here with pastor Scott Graham and his wife, Tabby. They, uh, they have a couple of transitional homes called driven reentry. These, these homes are done with excellence. Uh, these homes are done with, uh, just, just over the top, over the top. I've been in a lot of transitional homes as many of you guys have. And we just kind of wanted to tell you about them. We wanted to talk about what it's going to take when we, when you hit the gate, because our hearts are just, we just want you to be free. And so talk to us, Scott, what's up and Oh, what an absolute blessing. This is because instead of having to make appointments with chaplains or wardens or assistant wardens and reentry, um, reentry divisions of whatever prison system you're part of to be able to just talk about these types of things, technology is wonderful. And now it's such a blessing to just sit here and talk with our friend, pastor Logan, be it McKinney life, fellowship church, and thanks for the invite. And, uh, yeah, it's just this technological platform is, it just bridges so many gaps. So if you're sitting there and wondering what, what it is that we're doing here or how you even have a tablet in front of you, like I'm impressed too. Yeah. Tell

us a little bit about your journey, your, how you came to know Jesus and kind of a little bit of your story. Would you like to go first, babe? Um, sure. Hey guys, what's up? So a little bit about us. We met in a drug deal in 2015 and I went to go buy some dope and I met this guy and it was, uh, it was scary at first. When I first saw him, um, I was a little nervous, but, um, he gave me his phone number and a few weeks later I called and we became friends and then eventually got into a relationship. Yeah, I gave her my phone number. Yeah, it worked out. Here we are. Amen. So don't let anybody tell you that God can't move in the darkest hours of your life because we were both a mess at that time. Yeah. Anybody here ever been a mess? Anybody watching this? Have you ever been a mess? I'm willing to believe that the Holy Spirit has this moment going on for you right now to just show you that God can make an amazing, amazing thing out of your mess because that's what he's done with us. Yeah. Tell us a little bit about how he's told me the story, but, um, kind of how God spoke to you in the back of that. What was it? A Honda Hyundai something? Yeah. And, and, and what kind of what happened? Well, I'll leave him back up a little bit before that, that when Tabby and I were beginning to connect and we're both high out of her mind, I mean, IV drug use, that was us. I was homeless and she had a terrible situation she was living in at the time. But, um, I just had a moment of clarity. We're sky high on intravenous methamphetamine. And I just had a moment of clarity. And what I realized in that moment is that everything that I'm doing right now is it's tough. It's turning into crap. Like there's nothing that I'm touching that has turned. into gold. And there have been seasons in my life to where God would bless what I was doing, but I just had this moment of clarity that like God had more for me in that moment. And I'm hoping that right now you're having that moment right now that God has more for you even sitting where you're at right here right now. And the crazy part is, is the Lord just gave me a download in the middle of that fully intoxicated moment that he allowed me to live my life the way I want to live my life to experience the things that I've experienced to meet her. And I felt a download from God telling me that it's okay to go get sober now. So I went up to her and we were crazy in our mind, out of our minds already. But I said, Hey, I know this sounds really crazy, but I feel like God's telling me that I can go get sober now. And, um, well, we did that.

If you be about a month later, we, um, we decided it was time to go to Texas because I just, we both knew that I knew that I knew that God would have something for us there. It's just a promise. Well, and we were in a lot of legal trouble. No, well, the place that we had left when we left town, we two hours later got raided. Yeah. So, um, you know, the discernment anyways, we knew the Lord was pushing us out. So we get down here and we go to a gateway church strung out with, uh, like Angelo would say, shout out Angelo, but strung out with our tongues out. And, um, we get down here and, uh, to the Dallas area and, uh, we're living on my mom's stolen credit card number. We're staying in a hotel or really a motel at an extended state in Los Colinas. And one of these times we decided to go to gateway church in Southlake and this was in 2015. And when we got there, there was 4,000 people in this arena, 4,000. And my wife can really articulate how this part goes. Yeah. So there was a gentleman doing a message on, God has not forgotten about you. And let me tell you out of all 4,000 people, I just knew we knew that we knew that we knew that God was speaking directly to us. And it was so powerful. I had never experienced anything like that before, where it was so specific and so pointed and the whole service through worship, through all of it. Um, we just sobbed. I couldn't control it. And, um, it was a huge, powerful encounter from our Lord. And, um, yeah, it was amazing. So guys, this could be a moment when God is speaking to you, just like they spoke to them on that day. So who is it that God is speaking to right now? Don't click off of this. Don't click off this. We have something for you. Go ahead and continue. Yeah. That whole sermon was about Jeremiah 29, 11. And the part of that sermon that really resonated with us was that in the, in the craziness we were living in that this man, he was a guest speaker and he's, he, he mentioned something that really triggered us both. He said, God has orchestrated every one of your steps to this very moment right here. And I'm telling you right now that God has orchestrated every one of your steps to this moment right here. And it's not his plan. And his intention is not to punish you. You're sitting right where you're at for revelation. And that's what we were told in that sermon. And when we get new guys and they jump in my truck, I play this a little excessively loud, this sermon, because it just, I just pray that this would marinate deep within your heart that God has a plan for you. He has not forgotten about you in the places that we're in. We may be there because of sin, but we're not there for punishment of sin. We're there for revelation

because what the Lord will do, what the Holy spirit has done in our lives. And what I promise you he'll do for you is every experience you're encountering right now in this healing journey that you're going on in Jesus name, he's going to keep you that for his glory. And so you can help somebody else walk through it. That's the end game. So that way you can be equipped to live out the, the, the great commission. I love that. I love that. So you get to gateway church, you have this amazing experience. Um, what happened next? Well, we got off the streets pretty fast. We started a business, a window cleaning business, and we get out from my mom's stolen credit card. We're going to recovery meetings, 12 step meetings, and life comes together really quick for us. Both. Um, we go from the streets to that life and we all understand that life to, you know, 2,100 square foot home full of vision, full of talent. And then we just start hustling. Tabby and I just start working, working, working. We get our kids back in a short amount of time. And guess what happened after that, Logan? I think I can guess. Well, so we were having a lot of success in the first 90 days of our new life since we've had this encounter from the Lord. And how many of you listen to this right now have had an encounter from God, and you know that you've had an encounter from God, but it didn't last long? Well, that was us. That was us. We quit, and here's the secret handshake, the secret answer to what we're talking about is we quit doing what we were doing that was working. So then what happened is pride kicks in. Not intentionally, because you're not sitting there right there because you're in prison

because you got there intentionally. A lot of us just woke up in a cell and say, how in the world did I get here? Well, here's how you got here. You quit doing what was working for you in your life, and you lost contact with people, with community that was holding you accountable, and you quit doing the things for God that you were set out to do. So what happens is is all the talent begins to be eroded by sober horse thievin'. In recovery, there's a term that says, hey, if you get a drunk horse thief sober, you still have a? Horse thief, he's just sober. A sober horse thief. So that's what we were doing. I was selling jobs that I didn't know how to do. I was collecting, stone cold sober, collecting deposits, and Tabby's like, what are we gonna do? I'm like, we'll figure it out, because I believe the lie that we would figure it out. So what happens is is my talent oversees my character. When my character is not developed, you just have a sober thief. So were you still like going to church and doing recovery meetings and stuff at this time? No, I think at this point, we had fallen off completely.

We had done a few steps with our sponsors at the time, and everything was feeling right. And then we're like, oh, yeah, well, we're just gonna skip. We're gonna skip church just this one weekend, and then the next weekend, and the next weekend. And so, yeah, we were completely away from recovery, completely away from church, and just trying to figure out everything on our own. Self-will run riot. Self-will run riot. Though they usually don't think so. Didn't think so at all. So I can imagine catastrophe happened. Not immediately. I do remember, so in April, the April before we relapsed, we had a huge craving. I remember I had, I was like, Scott, I just, I wanna get high so bad. And he was like, the only thing I know what to do is we need to go home and we need to take a nap. Not go to a meeting, not call our old sponsors, but we went home and we took a nap. And then that subsided for a little bit. And then in July of that year, we were going to drop our kids off for summer vacation. And as soon as we dropped them off, I don't know how the thought popped in, but we were just like, well, what if, let's just reach out to this guy.

And if he answers by the time we get back home, then we'll go get a bag of dope. Man, the enemy is just so sly, isn't he? He's just- Well, so that morning that we were going to drop the kids off in Oklahoma, the guy hit me up and said, hey, I've just seen how you're doing. I said, Tabby, I don't know what to do with this. This guy's like, you know, the guy we, our plug, just checking in on us, seeing how we're doing. Yeah, he was just worried about how we were doing in life. Yeah. Right in that exact moment. Yeah, yeah. So, well, it was crazy because we had 20 grand in the bank. Stone cold sober, two weeks shy of a year of no drugs, no alcohol. Pumped full of anxiety. This overwhelming fear that everybody's gonna realize the fraud that I am. Even sober, I'm a fraud. Yeah. Fraud. You got all these jobs that you're supposed to be doing. Well, a lot of them got done, a lot of them didn't. People are probably calling. Oh, yeah, we're getting bad reviews. I mean, there's still a whole string of reviews from our old business that tell the truth,

that tell the truth about us. And, you know, we're almost 10 years into this. And I haven't felt led by God to pursue this dude to get him to take it down. Yeah. Because it's our story. Yeah. And that's a big part of our story. Yeah. Six month relapse. Three months into it, we're homeless again. I don't know about you, but when I get to bangin' dope, I get homeless because there's nothing inside of me that says, Tabby, we have to slow down because we're about to be homeless. No, what I start going through is, tomorrow I'll be. better. We'll figure it out. We're going to be okay. That's the lie I believe. I don't suffer from much depression. I suffer from grandiosity. Yeah. Yeah. I hear you. So we're sitting there and three months into this relapse, I catch a case. I get caught with some dope, go to Tarrant County jail. Anybody fall out of Tarrant County jail, Fort Worth, shout out Green Bay. If you're in Green Bay and you're sitting there and you're watching this, I know what that's like to be in the bird cages, baby. So, um, I get caught. She bonds me out. And as soon as I get out, we're all in. Tabby and I are just going ham. Yeah. And um, we got homeless pretty quick. Yeah. We're hustling in Iran. I'm committing felonies every day. I'm, um, dragging my kids around. I'm dragging her around. Um, a part of my incarceration journey. I learned that, um, I've, I've failed her as the spiritual leader of my home. Yeah. I failed her. Yeah. Which in turn I failed everybody else. And I've done that all my life. Um, but washer and repeat. Our kids go to bed hungry two times. Our kids' teachers begin to realize that their parents are probably high. Now we've got CPS chasing us, wanting us to want to piss us. Can I say piss? Yeah, sure. Wanting

us to piss, trying to pull piss in a cup, in a cup. But, um, y'all don't know anything about that. Not yet. It's coming though. If you're with us, we're going to piss you all the time. So, um, we're sitting there and, um, we give our kids up back to Oklahoma. And then, so for the next two months, we're going super crazy on heroin and methamphetamine. Yeah. Super crazy. Yeah. Um, there was a, a probably a five to seven day stint that I stayed in the car. I didn't, we didn't even get out and we stunk. I mean, we'd all the things that happen to do with drug addiction. That was us. Um, but February 10th of 2017, Tabby and I did enough methamphetamine and enough heroin to kill a whole entire prison because our tolerances were high and we were just slowly trying to kill ourselves. Satan was trying to kill us. And then, uh, that morning of February 10th, 2017, Tabby and I are in a motel room. We've been arguing all night fighting. Anybody ever fight when they're on drugs? No. And, um, it was about seven 30 in the morning. I hear somebody trying to get into our hotel room. Of course we had the latch locked and I jump up and I look through the crack and I see three guns pointed at me and these guys are wearing bulletproof vests. I'm like, this couldn't be dog to bounty hunter. Those guys carry paintball guns lives. It was bounty hunters coming to pick me up. Yeah. And then once I knew it was done, like there's no running from that. I just opened the door and said, look, I'm not going to fight it. Come get me. I missed court over a dope case. I'm thinking I'm going to get out. No problem. I'll just bond out and life will be good again. Yeah. Um, God had other plans. So we're both freaking out. And then, um, I go down as they put me in the handcuffs and I'm sitting in the back of a burnt orange Honda fit, which is just like a fit. It was just like a Toyota Prius. So if you don't know what a Honda fit is, just imagine like a, uh, university of Texas, longhorns colors, burnt orange, freaking burnt orange Honda fit or a Toyota Prius Logan. It hurt my ego, man, because I thought they'd show up in like a FBI looking black SUVs all blacked out. No, they, they, they were, I was getting humbled, but I'm sitting there in the back of this car. I'm going from a hotel outside of six flags in Arlington to Tarrant County jail in downtown Fort worth. And I had just, I've blown, I've blown it again. I'm sitting there and I just realizing I blew it again. Yeah. And that's where the Lord told me now I've got you right where I want you. He's so good. Isn't he, man, even in the midst of our worst darkness, the,

the worst things can't get any worse. Man, he meets us right there and it's, he's not taken by surprise. He's not tripping. He says, I've got you right where I want you. He told me he's going to heal me and he's going to restore us. And he's going to use what he does in our lives to be an example for others, which is probably you that's watching this right now to be an example of what the Lord could do for you in your life. So I really believe in the whole thing about God has not forgotten about you. He hasn't forgotten about you. He hasn't forgotten about her or anybody else watching this. I really fully believe that we are where we're at. Yes, of course, because of our decisions. Yes. But it's not punishment. It's for revelation about how we can help others. But God said he's going to heal me, restore me and use what he does in our lives to be an example for others. What was that like hearing that from God in the back of a burnt orange Honda Fit? Well, the other phrase that I heard was that I'm not going anywhere for a while. Yeah. Dude, I'm going in there for a 16th adult. Yeah. Any guys familiar with that life? That's just a little under two grams, not much. I think I'm going to be fine. Yeah. Yeah. And then, um, within that journey, um, it took a few days for Tabby to get to my mom's house. Yeah. Um, we had just on February 10th, we dropped our youngest daughter on her head by telling her we're going to be there for that was her birthday or 10th birthday. I'll never forget that. Cause I gave her, I, daddy gave her his word and said that we'll be back. Yeah. And I never came back. Well, I came back, but it just wasn't like I said, I would. Yeah. Yeah. Years later. But, um, that right there, God was on the move. So you get to Tarrant County, you think you're just going to get out, but you end up getting some time. Well, I jumped my bond and I'm there for, I don't know. Um, multiple, multiple court visits because they kept offering me five years in TDC. Yeah. And I'm like, it's my first Texas charge. Yeah. Yeah. It's just a little bag of dope. And I know you guys can relate to everything he's saying right now. I'm just qualifying us that, uh, we've earned our seats to be able to have this conversation with you. Uh, but I was like, I'm not going to prison for five years over two, you know, under two grams of drugs. Yeah. And I kept fighting and fighting and fighting it. And, um, but as soon as it got to jail, within a couple of weeks, Tabby can tell you what happened with her. Okay. So when he got picked up from the bounty with the bounty hunters in the burn orange fund to sit in the, uh,

in the burn orange Honda fit. Um, I was just sitting there in the hotel and I'm like, okay, well, I have to go. Like I have to leave. I have zero money. I have no idea what I'm going to do. I get in our little Ford escape and we have zero gas. And, but I'm like, well, I've got to figure this out. So I start driving. I get on the highway and immediately run out of gas. And, um, God is so good. Even in those moments when we least deserve it, uh, this huge truck stopped and this guy took me to the gas station and got me a pack of cigarettes and a gas full, a tank full of gas. And, um, you know, it was just enough to get to the next moment. And then I had to, his mom actually ended up sending me money. Um, once that tank ran out and, um, you know, God just provided for me to be able to get back to Oklahoma city to, to be with our daughter, but I was strung out. I was detoxing. It took me three days. I kept having to pull over and just like sleep and shake and you know, all the things. And so I get up there and, you know, I'm not on the needle anymore, but I'm on pills, you know, and just trying to make it, I get a job. I'm trying to do well. And then I remember, Oh yeah, back in January, I got in trouble. I have a court date coming up. And so I have to come back down to Texas. I get back down here. I go to that court date and I get put on probation. So when I go see the probation people, because you're supposed to report immediately following court, I'm like, Hey, I can't get sober. I need help. And they're like, Oh, well, we'll put you in this 90 day program. And I'm like, I just signed for probation. So I didn't have to do 90 days in jail. I don't want to do that. And so they were like, you better figure it out while I leave. And I bought the lie that I'm going to get high one more time. It's that's, that's the lie that I believe it's just Scott. It's just one more time. And so I left there and a couple of days into that, I'm still getting high and I get pulled over and I get another charge possession on probation, on probation, just got placed on probation. But by, can you guys relate to any of this charge after charge after charge? And you know, that you're going to prison, you know, like, you know, that, you know, but God had other plans and I'm so grateful for his plan. Um, so I go to jail and I, by the grace of God, somehow get bonded out immediately because they, my paperwork hadn't gone through yet. So I get bonded out and I get my butt to rehab. And that's where I ended up meeting Jesus and it radically changed my life. Shout to the Lord, huh? Yep. Yeah, I remember that. So guys, um, we've all struggled just like you. Um, what we've, we've been to prison just like you. Tabby's been to, to county jail for multiple times. Um, and, and God has restored us. And I know you guys over the years have heard

pretty much my whole story. Um, if he can do it for us, he can do it for you, man. And so let's talk about, um, let's talk about driven reentry and, and how that, um, how that vision kind of came upon you. I guess you got out, you can tell the rest of the story. You got out, became a, uh, prison ministry, got, got fire lit for prison ministry. Um, actually worked at gateway church. Um, now you're at victory church. If you can tell that story, if you want, just to give them some hope, you know, just to give them some, like God, I tell them this every week. God has a plan and a purpose for your life that you can't even fathom or imagine right now. And Romans 11 29 says the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. It can't be taken away, omitted, edited, voided, like God's not changing his mind. But what can mess that plan up is we don't step into it. It's up to us to step into it. But that calling that he has on your life, that calling that he has on y'all's life, it's irrevocable. And every single one of you have a calling on your life. And this is just proof of that. We've got junkies up here that, that are, that, that bend to prison, bend grimy, bend down through it. And God is using us and he wants to use you as well. So tell us about that, Scott. Well, it started, I had to give my life to the Lord. Absolutely. I'd been baptized multiple times. I've participated in church and, but I'd never lived for the Lord. So I'm sitting in Tarrant County waiting to catch Shane. Cause I signed for a three-year prison sentence over teen or dope over 16 crazy, bro. But Hey, it was the best thing that ever happened to me. So I'm sitting at this table in Tarrant County jail, green Bay. I got in trouble in the towers. Anybody that's from Tarrant County, you know what I'm talking about? I got in trouble from the towers. They sent me to green Bay and a little eight man tank. And I'm sitting there and I just had enough. And I, I looked up and I just said, Jesus, everything I've ever done has led to disappointment. I've done this my way, all kinds of different ways. And it's led me to the same point. And Lord, I have nothing to offer you like nothing. I'm sitting here in the goofy green jumpsuit that they put on you in Tarrant County jail. Tabby's on, on a way to rehab or Tabby's in rehab. And, um, I've blown it. I don't deserve anything, but if you will take me Lord and become the Lord of my life, I will give you total control and I will live for you. And something happened right there. So, um, I caught Shane. I went to Middleton for processing and I was just on a mission. I had, I made a decision. I wasn't going to click up. I wasn't going to be a part of the craziness. I, if I had to fight, I was going to fight. I was

going to do what I had to do, but what I was going to do is start pursuing God. Like, like never before sitting in prison, I was all in all in. So I, um, after processing, I go to the, well, while I'm in Middleton, Tabby for father's day, sends me a book by pastor Robert Morris. And it's the power of your words. And what a great book in that season I needed to go through. And I'll tell you why, because there's so much power in our mouth. Like the gift of life and the gift of death comes from our tongue because out of the abundance of our heart, the mouth speaks words, create worlds. Amen to that. And then, uh, I got blessed. Anybody that's in TDC knows that I got blessed because I got sent to the Lindsay unit to do my time app air conditioning, praise the Lord. Sorry, guys. I know you sit there in the, in the, in the hot, in the hot tanks right now, you're you're, you're, you're probably saying something like, man, he just, he went to a country club. Well, anybody knows about Lindsay, it's kind of wild over there, but I had encountered the Lord in such a way. So as soon as I got there to the Lindsay unit, these guys in the dorm, I was in asking me if I want to go to a marriage seminar, I'm lying through my teeth. I'm like, of course. And so I go in there into the gym with probably 15 other guys and I look up and there's a guy that I, I mean, he was just happy. He's whole and he's complete. And you can tell he's on mission. And right there, the thought crept into this inner valve that I've carried. That I've had to process lately, but this intervow came into my heart and said if I can do what he does Come in here and pour into these guys that my life would be in a really good place I didn't know the Lord was giving me downloads to what my life would look like But I knew and then all of a sudden I find out he's from Gateway. So Gateway was our as our home church. Yeah And so I was incarcerated and I felt like I was at home And as we go through this material God's just given us revelation She's on she's got the phone hooked up She's holding it down for me. She's having like we call it my prison time. I just went for a year I went long enough to TDC to know what it's like so I could tell you guys I know what it's like to go to the store. I know what it's like to have to eat pork patties I know what it's like to have to eat beef gravy. I know what it's like to wear Jackie Chan's. I know what it's like To feel like a human again when you can actually wear tennis shoes from the outside. Yeah, I Understand all that I know what it's like to sit in K building and burn like crazy

I know what it's like to have to take a shower every 30 45 minutes just to cool off I know what it's like to be to be fully dependent on the SSI to bring water over because you're locked in a tank I've done it and I and I know now The Lord allowed me to go through that like he's allowing you to go through that so you I could be able to minister to People like you so that way you could minister to people like you I knew that and that's the that's the that's the secret Handshake, that's the secret handshake right there. So you get out Get out. We hit the ground running man. I was on a SISP monitor We were both in sober living yeah Went to gateway immediately. Yeah plugged in. Yeah, we started cleaning windows again Tell him about our first job Our first job, well, we didn't have a car and so we Somehow we had a ladder. I don't remember how he got the ladder But we had a ladder bucket and some dawn dish soap and so we had the guy from his sober living Drop us off So we get all our stuff out of the trunk and all the things and put it on the front lawn and he's like All right. Bye. And so he leaves us and we're like, okay, we're done and we start cleaning windows and We're doing the deal and then we're about to wrap up and we call his a a sponsor and we're like, hey We're ready to be picked up and we had to literally sit on the curb and wait for him to get there Man I just remember those days and I think so fondly about them because of how much Character the Lord built in those moments and how much You just I see his hand, you know I see his grace through all of that and he's orchestrated all of those moments Just like he's orchestrating all of your moments to lead up into this big beautiful Rug like in that sermon that we were talking about in the beginning The guy talks about this lady weaving a rug and from the from behind it looks like a big sloppy mess But when you walk out to the front of it, it's this gorgeous Beautiful oriental rug and it makes so much sense when you're on the other side of it. Yeah So all you need is Jesus a ladder and some don dish soap. Well, it's called grit. And so what? But that was a season where tabby and I were putting the work in

But from that moment from the first guy that came into that sober living house we We had a guy helping us and that's where we begin to catch the vision that There's so many ministries that pour into you guys from out here And when we tell you especially from Gateway Church, and that's you know, we were there 11 years When we tell you that we love you, we have a place for you During co-ed the Lord put it on our hearts to start processing what that looked like. Yeah Yeah, so it's one thing to sit here behind a microphone in this beautiful church and in this arena with my Amazing wife and one of my greatest friends in the whole wide world and just have this conversation But it's another thing to begin to talk to you about right here right now watching this episode go to God I want to challenge you even if you don't know God. I want to challenge you right now to say hey I don't know who you are. Yeah Getting high doing all the things that people do in there and really start getting to focus on what's next So that's what happened. We started having a heart for reentry. Yeah, and So we started developing processes and in routines in what it looked like for for people that are watching Life Fellowship Church online, what it really looks like for you guys watching us right now to show up on a Sunday. Because I promise you, I know the heart of this church. They want you to come see them. This man right here will pour into you and will mentor you and will love on you and will show you everything. All you have to do is show up. All we get credit for is showing up and the Lord does the rest. It's so crazy.

And at Victory Church, that I'm a part of now, one of our things that we say is, you can belong before you believe. Because we're about relationship. And so, but we were really empowered by Gateway Church and we were able to build up a ministry. So shout out Michael Younit, anybody that are watching it right now. You know who you are. Jay Hall, Brandon Woodruff, Hines, my boys, Chaplain Harris, Chaplain Page, love you guys like crazy. But going into these prisons, Logan, there's gold in those hills. Yeah, there is. You watching this right now, there's gold inside of you. And we know the Holy Spirit will pull it out. So Tabby and I have learned how to be prospectors. I love that. When we encounter people, we know that we can feel that God has purposed them for this season to be with us. And so driven re-entry came from our own experience and what we felt the Lord doing is creating a process and living for men and women. It's not co-ed boys, chill out. I know you're like, yes, for just a second there. Easy, but so we have a men's house, we have a women's house. And the whole point is, is to duplicate what the Lord has done in our lives and skill.

Because He is no respecter of persons. If He'll do it for me, He'll do it for you. If He'll do it for her, He'll do it for you. And even our marriage journey is a miracle. The miracle of marriage. Dr. Doug Weiss from Daystar has a book called The Miracle of Marriage. And if you're in there, you can get their content through the Daystar app. And I'm telling you, check it out, The Miracle of Marriage, and it will challenge you and it will have you process things. But you're welcome, Dr. Doug. But so what we've done is we've got an 18 month program and it's 18 months by design. It seems long, but if you've been sitting in that bunk for a while, the re-entry process takes time. And I oversee the men, she oversees the women. It's super appropriate like that. We have got some absolute rock stars that are in our women's house. And we've got some rock stars in our men's house. All that we ask is that somebody be willing to submit to some boundaries and a process. So driven re-entry, it's a 3,000 square foot home. It's a super nice house too. And he says 18 months, like it's a bad thing. I'm telling you, 90% of y'all are gonna live better there than you are wherever you're gonna go, trust me. Like I would live there.

If I relapsed today, I would probably go there. You know, honestly. Logan would have to, you would? I'd make him work for it. I'd be like, man, you're not ready, dude. Get a 10 pack and a quarter ounce and call me when you're done. No, but it's about doing life together. And Tabi and I are just here to do what we feel like the Lord has done in our lives and bring it on to the next people. It is 18 months, it just takes time. Just the first six months. So it's broken down into three phases, three six month phases. Phase one is called decompression. When you touch down, if you apply to be in our organization when you touch down, our heart is not to overwhelm you. So we give you the first month to just catch your breath. Just catch your breath. If you get out and you come to one of our homes, you're gonna have to sit out for a while. Because there's a lot of things to process. Nobody's waking you up for chow. If you're on medication, nobody's waking you up for pill window. You get to wear what you wanna wear. And it's just a whole lot of shaking that has to occur to just, because when men and women come home, they're shell shocked from not only the culture of prison,

but the routines of prison. Yeah, and just the, like I said earlier, the world just rushes at you. You have to be at parole on this day. You have to be at this class. You have to be over here. How am I gonna find a ride? You have to be over here. How am I gonna find a ride? Oh, but get a job. Oh, but you know, what's my Yahoo password? Oh my God, you know, how am I gonna get a phone? I don't remember my Apple ID. Just all these things. And sometimes it gets overwhelming. We don't have people around us, man, to say, hey man, you're gonna get through this, I got you. Let me show you how I did it. Oftentimes, like it was the case of me, we just throw our hands up and say, you know what, man, to heck with this, man. I know where to get some relief. But I'm just gonna do it once, just once. You know, and this is the deception. So it's a real easy transition. This is a beautiful home, man. This is a gangster house loaded with good food, giant TVs, computers. It's in a nice neighborhood. Don't mess up the neighborhood.

It's a super nice house. And so you're going to, when you walk through that front door, you're gonna be like, the first thought I promise in your mind is gonna be, man, thank you, God. Thank you, God, for leading me here. You're not gonna have to worry about food. You're not gonna have to worry about, you know, there's transportation to get you to the things that you have to get to because you don't have the ride. You don't have to worry about finding a bus pass. You don't have to worry about all the things. And it just makes it easier. Plus you have guys around you, you know, that did this, the exact same process that you're going through a year ago, six months ago, three months ago. Hey man, let me show you how I did it. Hey man, it's easier if you do it this way. Hey man, relax, breathe, it's gonna be okay. Because I know many of you have gotten out before and it can be anxiety. We wanna hit that finish line so bad and then you hit it and it's like, oh my gosh, this is overwhelming at times. Yeah. I think that one of the main things that we identify are dips. Can you talk about dips? Dips. Yeah, so the thing that I wanna point out too is when people get home, they often are like,

oh my gosh, I have so much time I have to make up for. And they just want everything all at one time. And it just doesn't work like that. And so it's so wonderful to have a community around you to say, hey, slow down. Hey, slow down, just be where your feet are. We need that. But yeah, so six, seven, eight months in, oftentimes people hit what we call a dip. And in that dip, it's, you know, you've lost a little bit of your gratitude. You're starting to get bored with the process and you're like, what's next? I want something new or whatever. And you get in a little bit of a funk. But Scott often challenges anybody that's going through a dip, like, hey, I want you to mark your calendar. And two weeks or in 30 days, I want you to just stay in, no matter what, just stay in. And then let's look at the calendar and see where God has you. And every time, if the people just stay in and they keep doing the thing, despite how they feel, they get through to the other side. I mean, it always passes. So what does a typical week look like for somebody in the Driven Reentry program? So every morning at whatever, so in the women's house, it's one time.

And in the men's house, it's a different time. The house decides that, but everybody gets up and they read the Proverbs of the day. They do that together. They chit chat about it, pray together, because that's such an important routine to start. We've got to have our daily time with the Lord. And then everybody goes to work and then they are at five meetings per week in the beginning for the first phase. You're going to a 12-step meeting because that is the program of recovery is required. You're required to get a sponsor, you're required to work the 12 steps. And then serving at church, we go to church together and we serve, we're a part of communities. We're not just spectators, we are involving ourselves and getting, yeah, getting to know people. So it's called driven for a reason, it sounds like, but this is a good thing, guys. And what I tell people that I talk to about driven is man, if you get through this thing, man, you are going to be so miles ahead, miles ahead, than if you just go to that little transitional center or you just go to wherever. I mean, oftentimes people, I mean, I get calls all the time. Hey man, I need an address. I gotta get out of the place I'm at. I need a place, help me. Well, I know some places, but it's gonna take some work.

And unfortunately, there's not just empty houses sitting around waiting for people that need just a place to live. But man, I'm telling you, if you can persevere through this. So it's basically recovery is required and church culture is required. And so you really need to be all in. We wanna tell you this upfront. This is not a place that you're just gonna go kick back, watch TV and eat potato chips all day. This is not. be this is not a place that you can dope fiend and and and get some kratom at the gas station because maybe it doesn't uh show up in a test or something um this is not a place for that this is a place for for and he's very discerning they are very discerning about about who they take they it's it's not really so you need to know that when you write the letter so there you should see the the address right here on the screen um if you're interested in going or if you're interested in just pursuing it or starting the conversation with uh with scott and tabby and their team um but you need to know it's it's you're gonna you're gonna be doing the first month again right it's chill but it's it's your life is going to be full of recovery and church and serving and you even got your guys in prison ministry right um oh it's a requirement it's a requirement um how fast can they can they do that six months so well we've the whole organization you can sum it up with fulfilling the great commission we're supposed to go out into the world and make disciples of others in to make a disciple of you doesn't mean that um we give you a homework assignment we'll talk about it in a month yeah to make disciples jesus did life with the disciples but he only had room for 12 and then he went even deeper with just three and then he went deepest with only one so uh it's to go out and show you guys through life experience what god has shown us next or on discipleship so go out in the world make disciples of others baptizing them in the name of the father son the holy spirit the third part of that is to fulfill the great commission is to show others what christ has taught us and so that's what our organization is about tabby and i are going to give you our life experience the leaders in driven re-entry

are only going to give you their life experience and these guys and girls have been through tough times even in sobriety and they know how to walk through the perils of life by the time you get out these guys are already pouring into you and if you'd like to even know from another perspective of one of our guys angelo did a background check podcast it's episode 222 okay if you'll go back to the background check and watch that one episode 222 you'll you'll see angelo talking about what it's like nine months into his journey yeah he talks about driven on there it's all about driven well it's about his story but i mean a lot of it is his re-entry experience and then you can go to episode 211 yeah and tabby and i it's kind of our story our testimony but a lot of it's geared towards driven re-entry yeah so we're telling you all this because if you just want an address maybe this place isn't for you but if if some of the things that we're talking about is stirring something up in you like yeah man i would love to have accountability around me i would love to have oh my gosh i could do prison ministry six months out like i would love to do that if that's you then this this could be the place for you this this could be a place to fit in but if it's you just need to we just want to tell you what it is up front it's it's going to you're going to be driven um you're you're going to be required to do some things but they're all good things they're all awesome things but if you're not about it then they're going to be annoying things oh for sure there's nothing worse than having to take a p-test multiple times a week guys get breathalyzed girls get breathalyzed every night upon arrival at home um we have kratom tests and we also have the gift of the spirit that's called discernment and so if culture's off or if somebody's not acting right we have this this culture in our in our organization that it will eradicate the nonsense fast because if somebody's ill motives are not ready you're going to expose yourself like it's going to happen just like that um and but here's the deal man if somebody just shows up and willing to put the work in you get the result one one sidebar though the issue about offenses i think it's really important to let you know we cannot take sex offenders the reason why is because both houses are within so many feet of the school and we i believe and we believe as an organization and we believe as a church and we believe as the body of christ that the blood of jesus covers all sin i believe that however the state of texas does make it difficult for different crime classes and in collin county in the state of texas it's almost like it's strategic that there's a school or a preschool or a park within so many feet of everything earthing so it's not that we are

against what somebody has done the blood of jesus has covered all my sin the blood of jesus of diseases the blood of jesus has covered all of your sin and we will we want relationship with you we just don't know how to house sex offenders and we are tdcj approved so fi5 fi6 we're good with those um we are in great standing with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. If you're a part of us, you will be going to the prison. We're taking everybody. We've got 40 people going with us to the Michael unit this week, 40. Wow. Yeah. So like, any of y'all got fire in you to do that? Like, this could be your place. Anybody has ever experienced wanting so bad to do the right thing or wanting so bad to stay clean and not come back here and not be able to pull that off and just be disappointed again and again and again. This could be a new start for you. And so again, the address is right here on the screen. If you want, what do they need to do? Just write you a letter? Okay, write us a letter to 401 Century Park Boulevard, Allen, Texas, 75013. Write it to Driven Reentry, Suite 826. So 401 Century Park, Century Parkway, scratch all that. 401 Century Parkway, Suite 826, Allen, Texas, 75013. Within that letter, write your name, your TDCJ number, because we're going to have to look you up immediately. A few things that we want to know, because we screen every letter, we get them,

we go through every one of them. We want to know what your charges are. You can just tell us. We want to know what you want out of this. And you have an opportunity to paint whatever picture you like. So what do you want out of your new life? Because your new life is coming. What do you want it to look like? Like, if you were to sit there and God were to say, here's a pen, son, here's a pen, my daughter, I want you to write down whatever it is that you want out of your life, send it to us. The next question is going to be, why is it going to be different this time? That's important. The third one is, what does your relationship with God look like? The fourth one is, what medication are you on? And what's the other one I'm missing, babe? Did you say why it's going to be different this time? Yes, oh, she came up with this, I love this one. I absolutely love it. What are you willing to do to change your life? That's what we want to know. So I hope you guys are listening. Tick them off one more time. So how's it going to be different this time? Okay, so your letter to us will look like this. Your name, your TDCJ number, your crimes.

The first one is, what do you want out of this? If God gave you a blank canvas, what would that look like for you? What is your perfect ideal dream life when you get out? Two, why is this time going to be different? Three, what does your relationship with God look like? Right here, right now. Four, what are you willing to do to change your life? And five, what medications are you on? And I just want to say, the more descriptive you are, the better we can really just see your heart. And when we get these letters, we try to reach back out to every single person, whether it's a denial or an acceptance, or hey, we want to know more. And we usually do that through the Securus app. So please let us hear your heart. We want to get to know you. And the more we do that on the front end, the easier and quicker the process is. So you guys are very discerning. Yeah, well, here's the deal. If we can get you to just start talking, we'll be able to gauge where you're at. And whether it's fluff or not, out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. And some ladies at the crane unit, I've been able to phone interview them. So, you know, ladies at the crane unit, if you want to reach out, please do.

And I will set up a phone interview as soon as possible. Yeah. And don't be dismayed by bed availability. Here's what we know. We know that as our organization continues to grow traction and awareness, that it's gonna grow. Yes. It's gonna grow. But we are seated in the Dallas area. Yeah. But God's gonna have his way. And I promise you, like if you follow the process that God has put before you, whether it's here or somewhere else, God has a plan for you. Yeah, he does. Well, awesome. That way outside of this, like he swung by my house Saturday afternoon. Can we just do a shout out to Jessalyn too? She's amazing, his wife is incredible. I love her. And if you wanna come to this house and join this house, not only he will mentor the men, his wife is incredible. She would love to mentor you as well. Absolutely, she would. And they've seen her. She's been up here before. They've seen her and yeah. We married above our pay grade, didn't we, bro? The dope was good, bro. All right, anything else we need to say, you think? Well, I just, to just, let me just bring back our story real fast. In 2018, I'd been out a year. We got our house in Allen. Two or three days into being in that house,

my ex-wife called Tabby and said, hey, Scott's son wants to be with y'all. He's not happy here, he's miserable here. And this was the same woman that told me that I would never have custody of my kids again. And I deserve that, we both deserve that. Tabby had given guardianship over to our youngest daughter, Mackenzie, while we were in our mess. And she was able to go to court and get our kid back. And let me tell you, the Lord, through this process, has restored our family. He didn't do it in the time that we thought it would be. But our family's been restored. And I'll say this, and then I'm gonna be done. But when I was incarcerated, Tabby and I talked every other day, at least. If not every day, it was every other day. And when we were ready to get off the phone, one of the prayers was always, Lord, in Jesus' name, if you would just see us fit enough to finish raising our babies, Lord, we will honor that. And it only fits your will, though. If it's not your will, we don't want it. We want your best for our kids. And two weeks ago, we just saw our daughter cross the stage and graduate at Allen High School. She was our youngest, Logan was there. She's off at the Marines right now, in boot camp.

All of our kids have moved from Oklahoma to be with us. They all choose to be around us because the Lord has restored and healed our family. And I don't say that because I'm trying to brag and gloat, because I know everybody has hurt. I know everybody has things that they've done, and I know that God wants to heal those. But I promise you that if you stay in and you press in, that the Lord will heal you. If you press in, that the Lord will heal those relationships. He will heal those, and he's healed those in mine. Yeah, I hope this gives you some hope, guys, that many of you may be thinking, man, that could never happen for me. My life is over. I'll never have a family. My kids are gone forever. I'll never be able to make a living, honestly. I don't have a resume, all these things. Guys, just get all in with him. Get all in with him. I'm telling you, he is exceedingly and abundantly above what you can think or ask. But he's just looking for your yes. He's looking for your whole yes, not just your partial yes. But man, please write Scott and Tabby. Their hearts are amazing. And if any part of this conversation has started a fire in you, I want you to pray, and I want you to consider those things
