What's up, Church by the Glades? Y'all have your worship today. I think Anthony Evans is back with us. Amen. Let me begin the message this way. I believe with all my heart you have the power to change. I believe, I'm not the only one, but I believe that God has placed in you the strength to resolve, the power to change. I think things can change today. You're guests on the series called Breaking Bad Habits, Bad Habits, Patterns, but I believe in them. I believe in the Bible says. If you're new to our church, man, I spoke myself. I believe this. I believe verses of the Bible you've read. Go to 2 Kings 7, I believe you have the power to change with all my heart. If that gets you driving home, I have a moment. I have an author right now. By the way, staff are not allowed to participate. Anybody that's in the service can participate, but I have right now, for 15 seconds, an offer, an offer. I have a $1 bill. I was gonna pay $1. I'm gonna make change, $1, $1, 15, one, two, three. Oh, wow, he just beat you. He just beat you. Give it up, give it up, wow.

That was quick. You might have watched the service last night. You're like, wow, I'm gonna have to come back at 3 o'clock now, I know what to do. Why'd I do that? Some people make things happen. Some people make things happen. Some people watch things happen. Most people just go, what just happened? What just happened? What's up? I believe you can change. You have to make a decision and then make something happen. Change is proactive. I'm gonna tell you, I believe in myself with all my heart. I believe you go to 2 Kings, Old Testament chapter, but I believe in great promises in the Bible, like Philippians 4, 13, where it says, I do all things through Christ, and it is my strength. Make some noise if you believe that. Y'all, that's not just applause and platitude with a flasker or a coffee mug or a bumper sticker or a T-shirt. I believe that is so huge. That's the power of that change. I don't want you to have confidence. I want you to have confidence that God can change you. I don't care how long you've wrestled with this habit. I don't care how long this cycle has been in your life, maybe for generations.

This is the day, Jesus. I want you to be confident. And I say, when I say three, everybody say the word confidence. I love what it says in Hebrews 10, 35. It says, therefore, do not throw away your word. I'll be doing the verse in the Bible. Some of us have misplaced the word confidence. God, don't be arrogant. Don't be arrogant in the confidence that God's got you. And the essence of the Bible is a sense of where we're going. That's your day of change. I want you to be confident that God can change you. So, I want you to be confident that you're an adult. Oh, my gosh. If you're a young adult, don't miss this Friday. Don't miss this rally. People want to clap at your giggle. Well, you're just 18 years old, and that's the best thing that went for that generation. And I'm going to say, a thousand people gather up our streets and thousands of people worship. But in the first time we've had anywhere, it's probably been the best alabanzas since we ran. Yes, the party is a thing. But the free food is not so good. It's food, not food. If you're a young adult,

you've got to be free from the food. You've got to take it. Charlie, my son, I'm biased. My son's a preacher. He's 26. They allowed me to sing in country music with your dad. I've heard this in class last rally. And he's crafted his illustrations for the young adults of Scotland. He created two illustrations for his book. The first one was about how many Chipotle four-pointed ticks to get a free burrito. Isn't that perfect for young adults? Why? Because they all love Chipotle. And those are my brothers who are the counselors for us. And the second illustration was about that. Hannah Montana, 20th anniversary special on Disney. Got some Hannah fans. And I thought for the young, for young people, it was perfect. It was incredible. And so I thought for all these young adult audience, what a great illustration he's crafted for all of them. And he's only one person my age. I watch a lot of Disney Channel. You know why? Because I'm a 24-year-old daughter. I couldn't find a way to get my three-year-olds to be in the NBA or NBA. So I went with the NBA or the third.

So I watched all the shows. And I went to the Eastern Dome. And I watched the Super Flash and Zack and Cody. I missed Nickelodeon. Nickelodeon was amazing. I. Carly, one of my all-time favorites. What was the other one? I think it was the same. Mickey Mouse. Spencer, so funny, Spencer was amazing. Hannah Montana, when Miley put on the wig and the persona and did some of the roles, you may not know that Miley Cyrus booked that role at this age, at the age of 12. I mean, she could sing, she could act, she could make jokes, but she was so confident in her final audition for a T-shirt that said, I should have my own TV show. That was the formula that she put. I wanted to have that same kind of confidence that I'm going to have on a T-shirt that said, devil, devil, I'm taking back my life. I'm taking back my functionality, I'm taking back my health, I'm taking back my functionality with the T-shirt because you're talking to the devil. Put it on a note and put the note on the bottom of your shoe and then stamp on the devil with authority because when you put the note on your shoe, it says, devil, today I'm taking back what you bought

and making up the power to change. We're not just doing service. We're seeing destinies transformed today. Let's go to chapter one, second reading, chapter seven. We go to the next two pictures, stuff that came in the next week, two locations here, two weeks in a row. Sorry about the loss of about 30 days, but we'll see in chapter seven, chapter seven. This is the famine, the famine in Isaiah three. We're going to see a famine, a time of lack, a time of reduced resources, a time of starvation, need. So famines come in two varieties in the Bible. This is when there was no food, the Syrians, the Syrian army, the bad guys from the north that had come from the ground. They had surrounded the capital of Israel, Samaria, and there are no things that are bleak, there are no things that are dying. The famines are in two varieties, the human family and groundwork right here. Some are cycles and some are seasons. Seasons aside, I mean this, sometimes a famine was a natural season. It could simply be a famine was a natural season. There was a season to be born, a season to die, a season to laugh, a season to cry, a season to laugh, a season to cry, a season to sow, a season to reap. The seasons begin and they actually come and go.

So a lot of things in the Bible are just natural occurrences based on probably people walking in Genesis, in Egypt, a seven-year famine. God wasn't judging people for being evil. They were, they had slaves. They were on the street. But when those things happened, the American middle class in the 1930s, or in America in the 1930s, it was not judging people within the Midwest. Like, you know, it doesn't like to judge people who are just seaworthy, right? It was a natural season. So like, if you're going through a dry season, right? A dry season, you're going through a dry season, right? You're going through a storm. Hang in there. You're going to make it through, right? That's a season. But here in 2 Kings, it's a cycle. Cycle is a cycle. And it's a redundant pattern based on a cycle. And so it's a cycle all the time in 1st and 2nd Kings. Why? It's a series of irregular leaders. It's a series of irregular leaders. It's a series of irregular leaders. There's some mad leaders, one after another, after another. There are unfortunate leaders.

And when you have bad leadership, that affects the nation. And then the people are spiritually compromised. And here's the way God reflects on the job of God. He says, my God, I got your finances. My God, yeah, God, I got my finances. Keep your hands on the money. Or God, I got my relationships. God, let me go out of this business. Yeah, I'm out. Good luck to you. And now, if you don't give up, so be it. Now if you don't give up, so they were seduced by their neighboring nations and their idols worshiped. These kings turned their back on God. These kings turned their back on them. They're not happy. So the Syrians have the people of God surrounded. There's a famine. It's going on for months. I don't know if it needs to be under a year. They've gone for years. So there's all this. The people are starving. This is all bad. The famine. It's bad. You can read about it in chapter six. Plus they get into trouble.

It's all terrible. It's depraved. When there's a famine in the land, when there's a physical famine or a spiritual famine, depravity follows. People start doing things, people start saying other kinds of culture would never do, but there's a famine, and it's terrible. Maybe there's a famine, and you're like, maybe there's a rebellion. That's what this is really changing. Because something's going to change this. There's an age, and there's a catalyst of change, and it erupts in this famine. It is so powerful. So good, chapter seven, verse one, what it's going to write out. I say, great. I'll only shout the first word. Ready, one, two, three. Listen, listen to God's word. The famine is over. Read the Bible with me. Listen to God's word, though. I think that's God's word for somebody around now. Your famine is over. The time of your spiritual drought has thawed. You've been starved by the influences.

Game over with that. But the catalyst for transformation is the word of God. The gospel of Scripture and the scriptures is going to use his word to change his people. There's so many things in your Bible that you're empowered to change. Let me show you this. Take out your phone and take a picture of this verse. It says, how about, you've been freed, in John chapter 18, verse 36. If the Son set you free, if Jesus set you free, you'll be free indeed. The Bible says, you've been changed. I'll read along. Go to 2 Corinthians 5, 17. It says, therefore, anyone who is in Christ, he is made a new creature. You're a new spiritual special. Some of all your settings, you're a new creature in the nature of behavior. How about this? You have a new chance for success. Let's take a look at Timothy chapter 10, we're at 22 on the screen right now. It says, now, translation, run. Run from youthful lush. Look for ungodly desires. Run from ungodly lusts. Even instead, pursue righteousness, faith, and love, and peace.

Because it calls upon the Lord for mercy. Maybe change the crowd. See, people don't know what's in their back pocket, but they have something. When you hang out with them, they're stupid as can be. So, don't come to such a temptation. I'm not judging anybody. I'm not putting my hand in the temple to say, like, Christian, where does the line of disaster? Where does the line of disobedience? We don't know where it is. We get 10 toes right to the edge, limited, but that's fine. You know what? We get down. We get a little bit to the side. But if you have an area in your life in which you're fighting against that, take a step back. Give yourself space. He's your friend. Give yourself space. He's your ally. He's your friend. I hate legalism. I love legalism, non-biblical legalism. Don't give me a legalism. I need to be a legalist sometimes. I need to be a legalist to myself. Boundaries.

Boundaries are biblical. They're beautiful and blessed. I need to free run certain relationships, social structures. You know, if you're in that environment, you're going to do something you were going to do. If you're in that environment, you're going to do something you were going to do. You know, things like a virus like this are so important. You know, this church is critical, right? Because this is the transformation station here. Because basically, we've been praying, and we worship God, and we've been praying, and now we're just waiting, and somebody's going to stand up here, and be true to the word of God, and this change expands, and brings hope, and brings power, and brings resourcing. Incredible things just happen when you receive, when you listen to the word of God. So that's where this matters. And so let's practice telling people, the last place I wanted to see you was the devil. Three people clapping for watching the applause. And you're like, well, I'm not here every Sunday morning. Every Sunday, I can't be here every Sunday morning. Why? Because you need this book. You need this book. This is the deepest dive. My book is the best view. I mean, the Bible passage is the deepest dive.

I mean, the Bible has 99% of the songs, but I spend hours, believe it or not, I spend days getting ready for it all the time. I come here with the diversity of the word of God, not the preacher, but the word of God that's going to change you. That's why. And the devil doesn't want you here. That's why I hit one week, just two weeks, and he'll be like, you're here for a week, then you're missing two, then you're here for a week, then you're missing three. I need you here. Yeah, I invite people to Easter. Because I invite people like crazy to Easter. You guys do, you guys do a great job. You know, 23,000 people who did a good job. And some of my people came, some of my people turned me down. And I thought about, what were some of the silly reasons that people gave me not to come to church? And I thought about those silly reasons. I started to want to hear some of them. Because sometimes the devil throws things to your face.

And I started to think, it's too early, I'm not a morning person, I make excuses, I work out on Sunday mornings. I work out on Sundays in the morning. I have a bike, I like to ride, I run, I play golf on Sundays. I have children's games, my children travel, football, baseball, baseball, football, brunch, brunch is a good thing by the way, brunch is not real. Breakfast is real, lunch is real. Brunch is a thing people made up to justify daydreaming in the morning. Brunches. Excuses. It's my one day off, it's my only day to make excuses. It's the day I fall asleep, it's the worst. I'm in the water,

I'm passing by, it's a slick day, it's a nice day, it's a rainy day, it's such a nice day, I fish, uh-oh, I hide out, I surf, I'll do my best to be there, I'll try to come out. You say I'll try to be there, guess what you'll be there, it's not hard. You gotta be very hard to be there. Simplemente llega Okay You tienes un GPS en tu teléfono y tienes transportación. Como algunos están en el hábito de hacer. Hay gente que gusta esa sinergia para escapar de este ámbito. Saben que estamos hablando de hábitos. Malos hábitos son difíciles de romper y los buenos son difíciles de mantener. Tienes que establecer un hábito. Quiero que vengas la semana que viene. No te des excusas. Tengo algunos héroes en esta historia y estos héroes van a cambiar sus vidas. Van a entrar, van a tener poder, van a ser promovidos, van a ser ricos. Saben que? El mundo antiguo tenía mucha gente marginalizada. La gente que está bien, tú dices, ellos pueden cambiar, tienen con qué. No, no. Minoritarias, minorías en la Biblia. Eran judíos, pero eso no es por lo que estoy hablando de que eran marginalizados. Sí, las mujeres también eran marginalizadas, pero no eran el máximo. Eran esclavos, claro. Muchas culturas tenían economías de esclavitud, pero en el estatus social había algo más bajo que los esclavos, que eran casi lo más bajo. Leprosos. Podías contraer lepros, y no importa si eras mujer, hombre, rico o pobre. ¿De qué sociedad eras? Pero una vez la tenías, tenías esta desfiguración, esta enfermedad que te debilitaba y tan contagiosa, tenías que dejar tu familia, dejar tu casa, dejar tu trabajo, y vivir echado afuera. Y te gritaban, sucio, sucio. Y la gente se separaba, y cruzabas tú solo por un lado de la calle. Tenemos leprosos. A ver, capítulo tres. Verso número tres, dice, siete, tres. Ahora habían cuatro hombres con lepra en la entrada de la ciudad, y se dijeron uno al otro. Oh, I love a good why question. They have a good, here's me a start. If you're in a situation with a family, a black, a dysfunctional family,

you're going to start going, you're like, start with this. Ask good, smart, honest questions. So that goes. Ask some questions like this, like, okay, remember this one, what triggers my surrender to that negative habit, or what triggers me, is it pressure, is it stress, is it hanging out with certain people, right? Is it being with the wrong people, or is it succeeding? Sometimes we want to change, and we succeed for a short time, but then we want to give ourselves a prize that takes us out. That's okay. Like, oh, I did this very good diet for three days, so I deserve this donut. No, no, no, no. Here's a good question. What's my kryptonite? What's my kryptonite? What's that weakness? What's that vulnerability about us? What's that weakness? What's that thing that gets me down? I probably shouldn't have alcohol in the house, if I'm going to deal with the drink. I need a debit card, because I don't know how to keep myself without spending. Okay. What's your weakness? What's your kryptonite? Some of you brothers, some of you brothers, how many of you brothers?

Let's see. You take the same kind of wrong women, sometimes it's coming out with the same wrong woman. I know she's shallow, and I know she's superficial, but she's great. She's great. What's your kryptonite? That's your kryptonite. They start with a question. They start with a question. These circumstances, right? What are these lepers saying? Then it gets logical in verse 4. Why do we stay here until we die? If we say, let's go to the city, there's the famine, we'll die. And if we stay here, we'll die too. If we go to the field of the Syrians, the bad guys, if they don't kill us, we live. So, well, everything makes sense. They look for their analysis. They make their decision. And then they make a decision. A big decision. Now, what changes when you make a decision? Nothing. Because all you do is make a decision. The change

comes in the next verse. Verse 5. This is the change. Look. At dusk, they got up. At dusk, they... There it is. The decision materializes in an action. They got up. They got up. They just decided. This is bad. We got to move. You got to make something happen. You got to get up with your dollar. And you walked away with the 50. Wow. Sit right there. Move. He moved faster. You moved too, but he moved faster. They make a move. And let me continue, because this is so good, because the bad guys, the bad guys,

they went to the field of the Syrians and they reached the edge of the field and there was no one. Because the Lord, the Lord, made the army of the Syrians hear a noise. Hey, it says, the king of Israel and the king of the Israelites want to attack us. So they got up and they ran and they left their tents and their horses and they left the field and they ran for their lives. What put the bad guys, by the way, had Israel on the rope. I mean, they're just a day, days of perishing. The Syrians had the total victory. They had more numbers. They were starving, weak and defeated. But why did they leave? Because God sent an army? No. The only thing God sent was noise. Noise.

They heard the noise of horses, and they heard noise. God could have sent an army totally out of nowhere. Jesus could have sent an army of angels. But no. The only thing he sent was noise. The negative noise. A noise that seemed to be what it wasn't. He stole the Syrians from their victory. He made them fearful. He made them run. You're trying to get away quickly. You should grab your horse. But no. They were totally illogical. There's a lot of noise in our world. And I'm going to be honest with you. I love my cell phone. I adore it. I spend hours on my phone. It's amazing. We have these supercomputers in our hands 24-7. Social media, entertainment,

social media. The comments. Wow! Who knows that people are having fun? I love my phone. I can use it in a thousand ways. I enjoy my phone. But there's a lot of negative noise on our phones today. And if you listen to that, it's going to eat you alive. Christians. All you do is go around and around on social media and negativity. It will put you in paranoia. It will put you in security. You're going to be about to jump and get angry. You're going to have love escapes. You're going to have envy in your heart. And it's going to turn you into someone who judges and hates. Put that noise down and lift up your Bible that brings transformation and blessings. Isn't it crazy? It's just the noise that stole the Syrians from victory. But the lepers?

I love them because if we stay, we die. If we go to the city, we die. If we go to the countryside, they'll probably kill us. but they make a decision, and they get up, and they move. Now, I've read some scholars, and I've seen people say, wow, what a courage, what a strength they had. No, no, no, that wasn't courage. I don't think they made that decision because they had courage. I think they were desperate. You know, desperation feels, but sometimes desperation is your friend. I hate how desperation feels sometimes, but desperation sometimes is necessary. Sometimes you have to be desperate to have the courage to change. You know, maybe you're in church right now, because you've done a lot of psychology, you've read books and podcasts, nothing to really change. But if you make this decision, you've got to get up and make the move. You've got to get up and make the move. You need to get up. I had to put that thing as big as I could on the screen. You need to get up. Don't miss the one point, the one quick turn. God lays a decision on your heart. Now, sit there, make something happen. You've got to get up. You've got to get up. You've got to get up.

Now, it's like, you've got to get up. That's it. Is it baptism today? Is it going to be the best next step? Is it salvation? Let me ask you something. Do you have confidence in your salvation? Oh, I hope I'm going to be saved. I hope. Take me up the elevator, not the down elevator. I hope you go to heaven, not to hell. In John 1, it says, that you may be confident that you have eternal life. I've read these things. So that you know you can have confidence in eternal life. Talk to one of our speakers. So that you can leave here with the total confidence that you are saved. You make a commitment. Five weeks. Look at the next five weeks, one by one. Think about it. I mean, your son has a football. He's not going to play professionally. I hate to tell you, but he's going to be a great football player. He's not going to have a spiritual foundation. No, no. I've got to get up. This is so good. I've got to get up. I've got to get up.

I've got to get up. I've got to get up. I've got to get up. I've got to get up. I've got to get up. I've got to get up. ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...

... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... A little bit of a belly, but you know what? Quickly, the final verse I can cover. Verse 15. So the lepers feel bad. They're like, oh my gosh, this is good news. The lepers are just so scarred by what's happening. So they go knock on the gate. They see the kids and they talk to me, and they're like, I didn't knock on the door. They open the door and they're blocked. By the way, so the bad guys have left. They've left all the trash here. They've smashed all the trash. The ancestors. Anyways, anyway, well, the king took the cake. Now, the king took all this guy's possessions. He said, what is it? It's a wrap.

He said, well, it's an ambush. So they sent out some spies. At the last fight, one of these horses. Things were bad. They came back with the last five guys that were in the version that's been on the screen. They finally, the Assyrians, went after them to the Jordan. And indeed, all the road was full of garments and weapons, which the Assyrians had thrown away in their head. They didn't just leave behind logical things because they didn't know how to use them, and their food. They leave in their weapons. They're really picking up weapons. The Assyrians are going to have to come back. As soon as the Assyrians come back, they will battle their enemies with their own weapons. They will have to come back and convert that to a tool in the hand of the people of God. In the hand of the people of God. It just became a tool so that the people that God is blessing succeed. So who is sick and tired of being sick and tired? I'm going to pray in 30 seconds so that the people who are praying on the stage come. Someone's going to make a move. Someone's going to give their life to Christ. I'm sick and tired of other people having good things. I'm tired of other people having good things. I'm not going to just watch it happen. I'm going to make it happen.

I'm going to take a step. I'm going to get up and I'm going to move. God is calling me to baptize. God is calling me to salvation. God is calling me to the next best step. God is calling me to volunteer, to a group of life. I need inspiration to provide me with this environment. I'm going to move. Move, Lord. Thank you, Father, because you are the God of transformation. You have changed us in all possible ways that we can be changed. Your change is eternal. Your change is spiritual. Your change is orbital. And you're going to change us financially. Release us, Lord, in the name of Jesus.
