Good morning, good morning. Someone is happy to be in the house of the Lord today. Clap if you love Jesus. I'm going to say something. There are many places where you could be on a Sunday, on Memorial Day, on Memorial Day weekend, but nothing better than being in Church by the Glaze. Does anyone believe that? It's true. You were praising as if you were an unstoppable force. My name is Pastor Charlie. I have the honor of being the leader of the movement of young adults in this church called Rally. And this Friday that comes in the Baptist church, the first Baptist church in Fort Lawrence at 8 p.m., Rally is going to happen. But it's not going to be the same without you, young adult. If you're between 18 and 30 years old, we're going to give you courage to go. It's going to be a different message than the one I'm going to preach today. Tremendous service. Tremendous praise. And a good party and food and drinks for free. Come on, a round of applause if you think every young adult should be there. But I'm so excited to preach today. Someone who says today. I think God wants to talk to you today. And I'm excited. I'm very excited to preach today. I want to give you the title of my sermon today. Without hope, without entrance, without preparation. The title is, I've learned my lesson. Tell someone close to you, I've learned my lesson today.

Today you're going to learn your lesson. In 1 Samuel chapter number 30, you can take out your Bible or turn it on on your phone. And there we get the only one and the super David. In the process and in the journey to learn a lesson in a difficult way. I hope that we learn from your example. Because people are wise. They receive their education from the mistakes and the education that others paid. If you learn it second-hand, it's better. If you learn it first-hand, you have to be the one who does the fight. Let's read the first six verses of Samuel. First of Samuel, verse 30. I like to read from the King James. I like that part, how it sounds. And it says, And they took him, and they followed his way. When David and his men came to the city, it was here that was on fire, and his wives, and his sons, and his daughters had been taken captive. Then David and the people who were with him raised their voices and wept, until they had no strength left to weep any more. Until there was no more fire around them. Did you ever feel that the fire around you put out the fire within you? David felt that he was late. Now he goes on to say, David's two wives had been taken captive, Inoah, Jerusalem, and Abigail, the widow of Nabal, the Carmelite. And then verse 6 says, And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of learning it,

because he loved the whole people, and the people were distressed, each for his sons and for his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God. They say that preachers and professional fighters are very similar. Who says it? Don't worry. Because many times, like before, a professional fighter, before entering the ring or the octagon, they have to train, and they have to go through serious preparation. And it may be that I, as a preacher, don't put on a mouth guard, and I don't have gloves, but I have this sword in my hand, because preaching the word of God is not a game for me. It's not something that I take lightly. It's not like I'm going to get on here, and I'm going to disrespect you and God to stop me here, and just let go of what I get. And the work of a professional fighter, a professional fighter may have a corner, the coach, the coach, the manager, but in the ring, in the real moment, it's just the fighter who comes in. His assistants can't come in and hit him. The same goes for the preacher. It's similar. I know I'm not totally alone here. I know I have the Holy Spirit. through me, speaking through me to your hearts. But he's like a professional fighter, because while I'm here,

our time together, I can't depend on you to tell me what I'm going to recite to you. That would be weird, and you would leave here saying, he didn't prepare, I'm not coming anymore. But if I'm here, people can give me strength, they can motivate me, they can even teach me. But in the real way, when these lights come on, I have to open my Bible and I have to speak to you. It's me, the Holy Spirit, and the moment. And I know that it can be in what I prepare what's going to come out of me and what's going to come to you. And I'm telling you all this because I want you to understand that you are more preachers and more fighters than you think. And maybe you're not writing sermons or throwing punches in the ring, but you have your own battles to fight. And I know you have your own sermons to preach, because this life is a fight. And the biggest of all the sermons that anyone can preach are not the words they say, but the life they live. And you can't make a lie of what you live. If there's something in you, it comes out. If there's prayer in you, power comes out of you. If this word is in you, the truth is going to come out of you. And I think it's going to be how you give courage to the Lord, as David did at this time, before that fight begins, that he's going to equip you so that you can go out to do this battle. And we're going to study how David gave courage to the Lord, his God. But before we understand that, we have to understand

why David had to give courage to the Lord, his God. David, at this point in his life, had already been prepared to one day become king. But at this time, he had not yet been assigned as king. So for this reason, he is like the apparent next king. But the one who was at this time, King Saul, thought that King Saul wanted to kill David. And people told him that he had to go to save himself. Translation, at this time in David's life, he does not look like he was ever going to look. His faith is the lowest. His courage is the lowest. His fear is the highest. And without consulting God, this is the most important of all, without consulting God, he decides to go to the Philistines to ask them to protect him and to preserve his life until King Saul died. And if you know your word well and you are a scholar of the Bible, you know and you're going to stop me and say, wait, Charlie, you said that David went to the Philistines for protection. The Philistines? The ones that are full of giants? Those Philistines, those of Goliath? No. The people of the giants that God helped to kill, to ask for protection instead of believing in God who helped him kill the giant. That's how scared David was. How much fear he had for his life.

How low his faith was. Because what we are seeing at this time, that David is trying to preserve a promise that God gave him, using his own methods and his own strength. He is going to the enemies for protection instead of asking his God for guidance. There are relationships in our life where sometimes we want to fill those promises with other functions instead of God's help. God keeps his promises always. God keeps his promises sometimes. God keeps his promises all the time. Not just when he feels like he's doing things right. God keeps his promises all the time. Even when keeping his promises leads him to a cross. Your God keeps his promises every single time. Even when people put him in a tomb, nails in his hands, speaking, even when people put him in a tomb, he will keep his promises every single time. Everyone knows that your God is not a liar, and that he is the Lord. Is there anyone here who knows that your God is always true, and he keeps his promises every single time. So if your God keeps his promises every single time, and what he promises you, he will keep his promises all the time. This means that whatever element is necessary to fulfill that promise. But David is going to look to the Philistines for God to keep the promise to make him king. But before he does, we need to take a look at our own lives. We look at the world to help us complete the work that God has called us to do.

I'm sure there's a lot of people here that God has given you a dream to be or to be someone big. But you've been waiting for a while now, and at this point in your life, you're not doing what you think God has called you to do by now. You're questioning, you're asking God, have you ever seen someone doing something similar, not the same, but similar to what God has called you to do? But they're doing wonderfully. And you're looking at that. And you say, well, but the aspects of what God has called him to do, and what God has called me to do, why am I stagnant? And what God has called you to do, but you're not even pursuing your dream anymore, you're not even pursuing the dream of looking at what the other is doing. And you're looking at the dream of the other, not yours. And you're wondering why you're stagnant. And you wonder why you're just feeling like you're a failure. And you know why? Because that part of not feeling, where does your discouragement come from? It comes when you move away from God's plan for you. It's like trying to use the keys to your car to open your house. You are a team perfectly prepared for God, for a specific use. So don't degrade yourself, or disrespect the plan that God has for your life, by moving away from that plan in any way. Because I'm telling you, God's plan requires you to have total credibility and confidence in God's plan, and to be totally loyal. God has a plan for your life, but you have to stick to that plan,

and stick to that plan. But David, he didn't stick to the plan. So for this reason, we know that he went to the Philistines to look for protection to keep him alive, until Saul died for him to become king. But the worst part is that when he does that, ultimately they rejected him. They said, no, no, we'll do it. That puts too many problems on us. So he went back to Ziklag, and ashamed, but at least he saw his kids playing, and his wife. But when he gets there, he sees ashes, and he smells smoke. And this whole field, which was once filled with the sounds of kids playing, is totally silent. And the wives, and the kids, and everything is gone. Ziklag has been burned to the ashes. He is devastated, depressed. There are no words, there is no description for that feeling. How he felt, so worn out. When he comes back, he sees everything in ruins. But he doesn't know what to do.

So he comes back and he sees everything in ruins. And his true disenchantment really begins when he goes out asking God for help, asking the Philistines for help. And the reason why I'm making this delineation and distinction for you is that, if I'm pointing it out to you, it is our own life. Our discouragement comes from the moment we stop seeking God's counsel. I'm going to say it like this. Discouragement does not begin when we discover the disaster. Discouragement does not begin when we discover the disaster. It begins when we distance ourselves from the plan and from God's help for our plan. Because the disenchantment will always be your part when you don't use what was put in you to sustain you. So when we don't, before we get so down, we have to ask ourselves, who called me to this plan? Did God call me to this plan? Or did God call me to this plan? My insecurities called me to this plan. God called me to this or compare me to others called me to this. Who called me to this? God called me to this or Instagram called me to this.

Who called me to this? God called me to this or the illusion of triumphing in the world. That I could be a millionaire with a house on the beach is what called me to this. Who called me to this? To live in the shadow of my brother is what called me to this. Or the fact that my parents tell me that they are proud of me is what brought me to this. Who called me to this? Because the last time I checked in this word, God never called me to be famous. God called me to be faithful. The last time I checked, he never called me to be an influencer. God called me to be integral. The last time I checked, God didn't call me to do what I wanted, but obedience. God never called me to be part of a network. God called me to do the best that he could make me do for his glory. Because the devil knows that if he can't cancel your call, the best thing he can do is confuse you on your call. Because the reality is that he only gives us grace for our own triumph. So you can't think about that, because otherwise the devil knows that he's going to grab you again in his arms. Because once your dream falls, or he manages to make you fall into your dream, you're going to go back into his arms again. So you can't go back to this disenchantment that you're living in. And that's what he knows how to do. But to come back to your dream, you have to come back to it. You have to come back to God's plan in your life, and you have to commit to doing it in his way to get to the end. You have to commit to what God wants you to do. So God in this moment, David in this moment in Ziklag, when he sees everything in ashes, he decides to give himself courage and motivation in his God. And it worked, you know why? Because I was having some problems in my car, and every couple of weeks, I was having some problems in my car, I was having some problems in my car. And so, every couple of weeks, I was having some problems in my car.

And so, every 3 or 4 times that I was going to start my car, it started to happen every 3 or 4 times that I was going to start my car. And so, every 3 or 4 times that I was going to start my car, it started to happen every time that I pushed the button. And so, the more that was happening, the less peace I had. It got to the point where I was afraid to leave my house, because my car was going to turn off in the middle of the road, and leave me stranded. So, eventually, I did take my car to the dealer, and I can't tell you, the moment I did, I had peace. There had not yet been a situation where I was wrong. I put my problem in the hands of somebody who knew what they were doing with it. I put my problem in the hands of somebody who knew what they were doing with it. I had peace. And I believe that for this reason, even with his house destroyed, his city on fire, even though nothing had been rebuilt yet, it was as David began to win, to rebuild his trust in God. And so, David decided to stop running, and he decided to go back to his God, to his Lord, to his God. And so, you know, it's not my turn to say, the weight is not on my shoulders anymore. The pressure of this problem is not my turn anymore. So, I'm not going to pretend anymore that I know what I'm doing, because listen to me today. God can restore from ruins, and God will restore from the ruins, but He won't do it if you keep running from Him. And I can't speak for everybody, but I'm tired of running. Running tires me. It's exhausting. I've never liked doing cardio.

Like, I don't know. Like, I'm tired of running. It's exhausting to pretend that I know what I'm doing, that I know where I'm going, that I know how to handle this situation, because life has opened doors for me. I've proven that there is no peace in my plans. The best thing my plans can do is predict, but not promise. The best thing my plans can do is guess, but not guarantee. The best thing my plans can do is make me feel what is more or less happening, makes me feel good from time to time. But how things are going in my life is not what can dictate my life. I fear having the courage to know that my life is on a solid rock, that it doesn't matter how good or bad things are happening in my life, but for that to be the case, the courage within me cannot be felt by the things that go around me. It has to be felt in someone who is higher than me, who has perspective and wisdom that I don't have, strength that I don't have, so that my life is better. So, I'm just like David, and I have to motivate myself in the Lord, but how do we do this? Here's how. I have to motivate myself, improve myself and give myself courage and motivation in the Lord.

I know David gave himself motivation and courage in the Lord, your Lord. So, you have to encourage yourself in the Lord. So, you have expressed some motivation in your Lord. You have to give yourself motivation in the Lord. You've got to take your own decision for Jesus. You've got to have your own relationship with Jesus. He does not have grandchildren. He only has grandchildren. It is not because God doesn't have grandchildren. He doesn't have grandchildren. He doesn't have grandchildren. He has no children, no children. He has only grandchildren. He has few grandchildren. He has no children and I believe that God doesn't have generation and grandsons. He has only grandchildren. He doesn't have grandchildren. He has no children, no children. He doesn't have grandchildren. He has a hesitant grandchildren. And God was risen from the grave and that's the promise that makes you safe because that's where repentance comes. And don't think that repentance is a feeling of shame. No, it's something, it's a peace because repentance is you have again to begin again. It's you restart. It's you begin again. It's you restart.

Because the Bible says that when we put our faith in Jesus and when we repent of our sins, we are made new. We are totally new. It's you. I'm starting from zero. We've all run from God in our own way. Take it from David. The man that the scripture describes as a man that perceives the heart of God. And in this scripture that we're studying today, in this point in David's life, his own fear is the highest, his own faith is the lowest. And because of the way that things go, even his own members want to kill him over and over. But David wants to resign himself. He wants to leave everything that he has to do. Sometimes it's not a feeling, it's not an emotion. Sometimes you're not going to feel the chicken skin, it's just that sometimes it's a decision. David made the decision from this moment, from this place, because he did, as a result of his courage in the Lord his God. And how did he do it? As a result, apparently he learned his lesson. It says, Lord, shall I pursue this raiding party? In verse 8, David cries out to God and says, David, Lord, shall I pursue these raiders? David learns his lesson. He's asking God. He's asking God. Do you remember what got him in this mess from the beginning?

Him acting! Him moving and acting and asking God what to do! Help the Philistines without asking God what to do! Without consulting God! Where should I go? He didn't have discernment, and that was a disaster. He navigates all these ruins and all this. And he says, God, I remember how things were before. When I moved without asking you. And God, it was painful. And it hurts a lot. I still have to deal with the consequences. And I don't want to make that mistake again. So God, if you tell me to move, I move. But if you tell me not to, I won't move. I'm not going anywhere until you speak. And as David had discernment, God said to him, go. If you pursue them, you will overcome them. In other words, his discerning led to his courage. So his discernment led to his greatest discouragement. Discernment is how you defend yourself against discouragement. I know it's not the sexiest message ever. But I'm telling you, if you ever take a second to discern, to ask God, what am I supposed to do? Your life will have a peace that transcends any understanding. Because discernment, you know what it does? It does this. It protects you from pain that is not necessary.

But discernment, it will also, if he had never been in this situation, if he had been missing out on all of this, if he had been missing out on all of this, if he would have asked the Philistines for help. But you know what? David would never have learned how to win over the Malachi's if he had not discerned the message of God. But since he discerned and decided to go after them after God said yes, you know what? When he was able to reach him, he discovered that they had not taken anything away from him. And he picked up everything that they had taken away from him. You know what? I'm talking about his perspective. Because the way David acts when he recovers everything, it's as if he realized, wow, God, if you can discern my family, even in the company of my enemies, perhaps you are able to discern me, in my path, in my destiny, with the crown on my head, sitting on the throne. So it may be that you are a man of word, a God of word. It seems that you do keep your promises. It seems that you are the greatest king who is truly in control of everything. Because Church by the Glaze does not make a mistake. When these Malachi's took David's family and burned everything, what the devil wanted was for David to end everything at that moment. Because this man had not discerned anything so that he would have all his motivation and his faith on the ground and fall into the hands of the enemy.

No, this is the same people who in their own lives and in their own leadership, King Saul, decided to pursue without the discernment of God. And for this reason, and for this event, because King Saul did not discern and decided to pursue the Malachi's, God said to Saul, I cannot believe in you anymore because you have taught me that you do not believe in me. So I take my hand out of you and I put it over David. So you can believe that when these Malachi's came, the same thing they did here, they tried to do the same thing twice, to take out the second king of Israel in the same way, and that everything was going to happen in the same way. But these two kings were finished in the same way by the enemy. But David at this point had learned his lesson and decided to discern and ask God. And as a result of this, the same enemy that took out David confirmed what God had put in David and proved to David that he had to be king, everything necessary, what Saul could never have been, even though he still did not have the crown on his head. Because the enemy that took out Saul could not take him out. David could not take him out. Because he discerned what God used for his enemy and for his enemy. And to take out and defeat David, God taught that to give courage to David, he had to discern. And in our lives, discernment is going to be the difference between what ends with someone

or makes them triumph as a king. So no one should go through their next Ziklag, that they have to get everything in ruins and ashes to get to that point. I want you to listen to what I'm telling you. You don't have to have your Ziklag so that your faith dies. There, in Ziklag, is where you decide that there you are going to begin to discern the message of God. Because although your life may be in torment at this moment, your faith should not be. Because you are dreaming with that message that he has sent you. Pray for that God. He will favor you. He will bless you. He will get you out of that torment. Your discernment is going to be the reason for which you are going to triumph. The end of your addiction. The beginning of the repair of your life and your torments. Because that is what the King is going to reveal. The man. The woman. The father. The preacher. Everything that God has sent you to be. Who is going to discern? Learn to discern in the house of God today. So that you let the devil know that he is wrong. So that you let him know that he is not going to get you out of the battle. So with every hand raised, Lord, we declare at this moment that we believe in you. That we trust you. That we are deciding not to move without your discernment. Each hand raised, therefore, gold. That we choose to discern. That God speaks to us clearly.

Obviously. So that we cannot make a mistake. And God, as a result of the discernment, that each hand, people who have their hand raised, may they find peace in your protection, in your blessing, in your promise, as never before. Gold, my Lord. That we decide. Zilag. This disappointment that we are feeling. It is not where our faith dies. It is where our faith decides. That no. You were close, we say to the enemy, but you did not get me out. You only made me stronger. You made me stronger. Stronger than the one who is stronger than you, devil. For each person in this room, that we are going to find ourselves residing in the good, and the loyalty, and the grace of the Lord. Amen.
