We don't just pick the newest songs or the songs that are my personal favorite. You know, we choose songs that help us get honest with God. And let me be real and raw with you right now. Sometimes these songs are hard to sing. Songs like, "He's always on time." That song gets me because I immediately assume on the surface, that means God is going to stop every bad thing from happening before it happens in my life. And that's just not true. Yet I'm stuck with this truth, so how do I make sense of it? Well, I think Isaiah 43 gives us some perspective on what this means. I want to read it for us. This is what the Lord says. "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you. And when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. And when you walk through the fire, you will not be burned. We can count on God's timing, because He is the one who tells us, "I will be with you." But just sit with that for a second, the God who created the universe. He's still with you. I remember how you provided, how you held me through the night. And I remember how you sustained me when you stepped in to save my life. If I knew that I'd want to know now, then I would be still and let you work it out. And Jesus, I was tossed in the water, but I never went under.

And you were always on time, and Jesus, when I went through the fire. And you were right beside me, and you were always on time. And you were always, always, always on time, and you were always, always, always on time. And I remember how you carried, when I couldn't take a step. And I remember how you loved me, when I couldn't love myself. If I knew that I'd want to know now, then I'd be still and let you know now. Would we just lean into you a little bit more? I'm sure, and for me, I know I've spent a lot of time leaning into my own life situations and disappointments. And allowing that to skew the truth that you are real, you are there, and you are with me. Look, so would you help me, would you help me to see the truth of who you are, and that you've never let me go under. You've always been by my side.

But we see you in that light a little bit more today, that you are with us, that's who you are. So, God, I just say thank you. It's in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
