Creed Week 5
Communion is more than ritual.
Pastor Scott closes this series with the final part of the Apostles’ Creed. Communion is a celebration of Jesus' sacrifice, through which believers receive forgiveness, healing, wholeness, and the promise of resurrection and everlasting life.
Welcome to Free Life Chapel, where we help you discover and live the free life in Christ. My name is Kati, and I'm so glad that you decided to tune in with us today. If you ever find yourself in the central Florida area, come visit us. We want to see you face to face, but until then, feel free to visit our website, freelifechapel.org, to find out more about what's happening at your church. There's an amazing message in store just for you. I hope you're encouraged. The Apostles' Creed, such an important document that I'll tell you more about it in a minute. It's related to the Christian faith, but let's look at this, Proverbs 22, verse 28. This has been our anchor scripture all this month. If you're new here, when you see the highlighted parts of the scripture, as this entire one is, that's where we all read with our outside voices, okay? So here we go. Ready? One, two, three, read it. Don't move the ancient boundary stone which your fathers have set up. This statement is speaking of those principles that have been placed in our life, those truths, those covenants in the Bible. Don't mess with them. There are truths that God has given us in his word that the people before us showed us the markers of this is what it means to serve Jesus with your life. The Bible is saying, don't mess with it. Don't try to get it, flip it, twist it, turn it, chip pieces of that stone off because you don't like all of that. No, stop it. Leave it alone. Live up to it. Let that become the standard and that anchor in your life. The apostles' creed, this is written almost 2,000 years ago by men who wrestled through the scriptures to create this highlight reel of what does it mean to be a Christ follower.
And this is what they came up with that became the confession, the declaration of believers, not just in Polk County, worldwide, that we stand on this confession together. So I want all of you, one more time, read this out loud with me. And not just reading it because it's on the screen, but I want you to read it as a declaration of your heart and your life that this is the statement of your faith. Would you read it with me? Let's do it. I believe in God the Father Almighty. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day, He rose again. He ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father, and will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Church, the communion of the saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Amen. This creed has been declared, as I stated, by believers for almost 2,000 years. And this statement is strong because what it is is, as I mentioned, a theology. Theology, you might push back on the word, well, I'm just not a real spiritual person. Well, can I help you with something? Everybody owns a theology. Even an atheist owns a theology. What is theology? How you view God. What are your thoughts about God and how to live by and approach Him? You may think, well, He's not there, therefore you have a theology that I will treat God this way. You might be a believer in Him through Jesus Christ and you have a theology.
It doesn't mean that we're real detailed and we should always be growing, but everybody in the room, under the sound of my voice, all of you watching online, listening to this podcast, you have a theology. What we need to do is make sure that it's well-informed so that we know. So there's a theology. That's what we believe. But this creed is also a set of guardrails to help me know what I don't believe. In other words, anything outside of this regarding who Jesus is, I don't believe it and I have to push it aside. I marginalize it. There are a lot of other theologies that are coming at us on TikTok, on social media, in school, with friends. You're going to hear a lot of variations. If it doesn't line up with this highlight reel of who Jesus is, then you've got to let it go. It's a guardrail for your life. It's also an answer. If people ask you about your faith, what is it you believe? It's nice to be able to say, are you ready for it? The Apostles' Creed 2,000 years ago, here we go. I believe in God the Father and you drop that because you know you have an answer for what you believe. A lot of folks don't have an answer. Well, I just, I just believe in God. Okay. Well, the Bible says the devil does too. That doesn't make him a Christian. so it's not it's not enough that we do what what are the statements what gives the the root the bite the grit the anchor to your life that's what this speaks to but it also does this it unites us as believers again did you
know that there's people that love Jesus outside of Polk County were you aware of that there's a few there's a few like like in China there's believers in Africa there's believers in Sweden there's believers in the Netherlands in Iceland Canada I think yeah there's Canadians that love Jesus to South America Hawaii how y'all just want to go see all the believers in Hawaii today like let's just go take a trip right we we have a confession of faith that aligns us it makes us a community there's a communion the statement is that the Apostles Creed said I believe in the communion of the Saints communion is is twofold and we're going to talk about this community minute but this the body of Christ is a when we say it's a communion a community it's a common unity there's a commonality that that makes us one under the banner of Christ so you and your Democrat family are worshiping right beside Republican families right beside independent families right beside confused families and we're all together under the banner of Jesus Christ he is the unifier the black man the white man the brown man and everything in between all unified under the banner of Jesus Christ the rich man the not-so-rich man the edumacated guy the guy who's not like all of that together right all under the banner of Jesus Christ there is a unity and and here's what the idea of us being in community under Jesus means number one we're growing in our faith we're growing in our faith worship we just did that but along with worship discipling learning more about our faith and growing if I've been saved for a couple years for in other words if I've been saved for at least ten years I ought to be able to teach a class on what it means to know Jesus oh don't get quiet on me on this Labor Day weekend right now I will come out there we want to be growing in our faith number two the idea behind community the body of Christ is that we're sharing the good news of Jesus with other people I'm spitting Jesus everywhere y'all need Jesus y'all need Jesus when you go to Walmart just walk right in and go y'all need Jesus and then go ahead and do your shopping but just make them aware the third part about common unity our community is this we take care of each other oh yes we do no when I see when I see other believers
or I was at Starbucks working on my message for this week and somebody walked up pastor and so we hugged and we had a word of prayer together right there like it's all good right Starbucks we turn Starbucks into church yes we did yes we did I know wherever wherever we are I love to connect there what's up I know you and I love that connection outside of here because we're still a family we're still a common unity we're still a body of believers and I care for you you care for me we lift and encourage we love other people too but there's something about family and that's what this is this is why every believer listen to me needs to be connected to the local church no you need a connection you got to be a part in fact let me put it this way nowhere in the Bible are you going to find the scripture to support church hopping just I'll go to this church and then this church on Sunday and then that church on that week and then okay that that's a little flaky that's kind of weird you don't go bouncing around churches no the Bible talks about that the involvement the connectivity of being inside of a body do you know you know why a lot of times we push back on one to be a part of a community like this is it makes you accountable for your life when you show up and when you don't when you serve and when you don't and we don't like accountability so we so we bounce but here's what I would share lovingly lovingly I mean this with our folks who just they're aversive to being a part of church you got to stop you got us you got to stop caring for more than just yourself and that's what being a part of a community is I care for you you care for me I'm watching out for you you're watching out for me when you hurt I hurt when you and I hurt you her and we run together that's what being a part of the family is let me make it real practical if you are a young couple today and you spitting babies out in your house that's awesome but they ain't no better place to find the right person babysitters for your kids are all up inside this place and you get to know their mama and their daddy and watch how they live their life and qualify whether they can be like it's it serves you in an amazing way when you are watch this not a member of the church but a partner I mean a membership don't mean
Jack how many people do you know that owns a membership to a gym but they never go there you go membership means nothing partnering means I Am applied. I'm connected. I'm contributing and therefore I am receiving as well. It's important Hebrews chapter 13 verse 17 Look, I didn't write this. This is Bible. Obey your leaders and accept their authority They take care of you because they're responsible for you Obey them so that they may do this work Joyfully and not complain about you Causing them to complain would not be to your advantage. I Love pastoring free life, but some y'all gonna make me lose my mind up in here up in here Yeah, like I love being a part of the family But God's Word is saying Scott you're responsible for this for the people at 9 o'clock 1045 1230 I want you to preach the Word of them want you to love them want you to watch out for them I want you to encourage them I want you to give them hope and truth and build their life and care and I'm Doing all that I can all I'm asking is would you please help a brother out? And let's lean in and let's build this together for the glory of God, this is not this is not Scott's Church This is the Church of Jesus Christ and we do this to his honor and his glory, but God has a way that the church Is to move together and inside this community. There's there's two memorials that God sets up that he wants his church his church to live by The first one is this baptism If you said yes to Jesus you need to get your faith wet Go public with your faith and say yo, yo, yo, I said yes to Jesus. I'm gonna be dunked It's a picture of being buried and then coming back up into new life. That's what that is I buried the old me the new ones getting up. But the second thing that he gives us is communion Communion not a common union in the sense of like it being in church, but a common human union that we have spiritually to commune Together Jesus commands us to do this in Luke 22 in fact, look at this look at what it says Speaking of Jesus and he took bread gave thanks and broke it and gave it to them saying This is my body given for you this do and remembrance of me in the same way after the supper He took the cup saying this cup is the new covenant in my blood which is poured out for you
Jesus is with the disciples on on what we call many times the Last Supper and While they're sitting at this meal together. This meal is is a special meal It's a meal to where Jesus is sitting with them and they're remembering and commemorating when God brought all of Israel out of Egypt They were in slavery for 400 years and God went in and brought them out And what happens inside that story just to remind you that on the 10th and final plague God said here's what's going to happen because of Israel because of Egypt's rebellion against my plan for my people I'm going to send the death angel and the firstborn of everything will die He gave that to Moses to tell the children of Israel that they were going to be the firstborn of all of Israel He gave that to Moses to tell the children of Israel Here's what's going to happen the way that you and your family will be safe when the death angel moves through is to take a lamb Kill it take the blood and put it on the doorposts of your house Go inside your house roast the lamb and eat specifically all of it Eat the lamb that died put its blood on the doorpost That night When it hit the death angel begins to move through Egypt The firstborn of every cow died The firstborn of every parent died. It was a it was a it was tragedy in fact while families are Inside safe because when the death angel came through if there was no blood then there was death inside that home But when he got to the next door and he saw the blood he had to pass over that home and Go on to the next home in other words as long as I'm on this side of the door and the entry into my home Is covered by the blood of the lamb Then I am safe right here I can hear the screams and the cries and the terror and the horror of the firstborn Dying all up and down the street But because there's blood on the doorpost of my house I am safe inside there was Danger just outside my door. It got so close, but it had to pass over It wasn't allowed to come in because I'm covered by the blood. Do you understand what I'm saying?
That's what they were celebrating the Passover and Jesus then looks at them and he says I'm going to give you something That's going to make you scratch your head for a minute He said as we look back on that I got a new Interpretation for you. All of that was done to point to what I was going to do in your life. There was destruction There is a there's an Egypt in your life That's holding you hostage you've been enslaved in your mind and enslaved in your in your past and held hostage by by dreams and thoughts and Attitudes and things that you've done you've got this debt that's piled up around you and it's got you enslaved with Taskmasters that are beating you Jesus said I came to show up and break you free from your Egypt but in order to do that It's going to take the blood of the lamb to cover your life And when you have that lamb killed and sprinkle that blood put that blood I want you to go inside and I want you to eat the lamb. And so here's what here's what Jesus is doing He's messing with their head the bread that they were to eat was for the sin the iniquity the rebellion the disease the grief that they were going through and The the wine that they were to drink when I was raised Pentecostal. We were told it's Welch's grape juice. Jesus was drinking Because we were afraid of wine it was wine and but but you drank the wine for the forgiveness of Sin that set you apart into holiness and Jesus is saying I want you to glance back to remember that but I want you to get a full view and a stare of where you are and where you're going because That blood could only cover sin my blood is going to remove sin There's a there's a vast difference that lamb was not strong enough There was it was not pure enough to remove your sin It covered it for a minute But I am the Lamb of God who will take away the sin of the world and so once and for all clean done over and that's What you're representing and celebrating you see here's why it's important to understand this because unless you ate The sacrifice the lamb Then the sacrifice wasn't completed yet They would take the lamb
And they would they would they would cut its throat and then they would put the lamb on the altar to burn But then they would remove the lamb and they would eat the lamb and the Bible says unless you've eaten the lamb The sacrifice is not over in other words. It's not enough just to believe who he is I need you to take Jesus in to your life So you allow his life to be in you you see what it was a picture of watch this don't miss this The lamb that gave his life for you You ingest you eat that lamb so that his life becomes a part of you. I Love the idea that Jesus gave his life for us But then we celebrate taking him into who we are and the life Jesus had now we have because of his sacrifice for us Do you follow what I'm telling you here? It's a new exodus. Jesus was talking about. It's a new freedom It's it's we're at a different level of living and now for 2,000 years Christians around the world have been Celebrating what Jesus did on that on that cross for you and I dying on the cross as the Lamb of God his blood being poured out for our salvation when you and I take communion together We are remembering what Jesus did on that cross and applying it to our life this happens around the world today, and I love this years ago, I went to Budapest on a on a mission trip and Meeting with pastors and and teaching and training and had an amazing time evangelistic stuff And we went from Budapest into Romania and while we were in Romania We got to meet with some pastors and some churches there and had an amazing time while we were there it was a Sunday while we were there and and so I went into this more of a liturgical kind of church and That they happen to be Celebrating honoring communion that day and I thought well, this is awesome. I don't understand them They don't understand me, but we do understand one thing Communion unites us that as believers in other countries around the world speaking a different language We want to take communion. So man, they the priest the way he did it Church was small. He had bread. He broke the bread off And he came around he would give you a piece of bread So you took the bread then they handed me a little cup that had the grape juice in it Like okay ready and I just following just kind of watching around, you know I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I do I can't follow and watch what they're doing I couldn't understand the language. And so when they when they threw the juice back after the juice back went. Whoa
That was not Welch's that was not Welch's they they believe in and in the wine like Okay, I love Romanian communion, can we get some more of this right here just worship Jesus like it was like that God was Wow They you it was the celebration of we're all together in this our faith. They've been saved by Jesus. I've been saved by Jesus There's a common union union together It was a declaration together as to what the sacrifice of Jesus meant to them and to me But here's what? Once you understand Jesus told us he said I want you to remember Remember what I did for you that that word is powerful The word is the car the car is a powerful word because here's what it means when Jesus would have spoken It meant this recall to memory what I did but allow the recall to move you forward into where you should go It wasn't just to have a mental exercise But it was so that I will live different based on what I remember It will motivate me to make different decisions treat people different pray differently come with a different joy It will shift the posture of my heart based on what came back to my mind and that's what communion is It's a call to action. It's up your game. It's move it forward How do you know that you could use something higher something greater something better and you're like would it be okay? If God upped your home upped your home, would it be okay if you upped your home? Yeah, how about if you upped your health upped your health would that be okay? How about if you upped your faith like your faith went to a new level up your connection with others and just like man? I'm living this like tell you never just up yours up yours up yours. Just he wants to just up yours everywhere That's what he wants to do That's what that's what this word means You many of you probably growing up use the word Eucharist and that's a noun It's a noun that means the bread and the wine communion is a verb and It's this common union where I'm having dinner with God, it's we are engaged together in this relationship And it listen to me Communion identifies you as a Christ follower If you're seen taking communion, you're saying I follow Jesus That's that's what you're saying. Ain't none of us saying we got it all together
We're just saying I'm a follower of Jesus and I want you to hear what Paul What Paul said about this first Corinthians 10 Consider the people of Israel those who eat what is offered in sacrifice Share in the altars service of God What he's saying is When you and I take communion together the same way that Israel did we Received there's a benefit that comes because you took communion It's not a Ritual. I need you to understand this. I need this to settle into your head and your heart It's not a ritual to be observed. It's a blessing to be received If you and I leave it as a ritual it will lose its impact and it would just be something something Ceremonial and religious to us. Okay. This is what we do. No, no, no I need you to change your mind about what communion is and what it actually means again John chapter 6 verse 53 Jesus said this unless you eat my flesh and drink my blood you have no life in me How do you think that probably would have got your attention if you were listening to Jesus talk and he says unless you eat my flesh And drink my blood then you ain't got no life That that would have bothered me. In fact, the Bible says some of them when he said this they went Okay, he's he's cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs. I am I'm and and some left and the disciples backed up going What in the world and They struggled with this until Jesus connected it. You have to eat all the sacrifice on Passover I Am that Passover, you know that sacrifice isn't done until you eat the lamb You put you the blood all that. That's exactly who I am. I am the Embodiment all that you did at the Passover in Egypt was pointing to me That I would be the lamb that would finalize this once and for all ladies and gentlemen when you and I celebrate communion Not as a ritual but as a celebration of something to be received
there's some things that you and I need to be able to lean into and understand I Receive some things because of this sacrifice as I remember it. I don't want to show you what that is Here's a couple things. Just here's a quick highlight reel. Number one. Your sins are forgiven. Is Anybody glad you are not going to hell No, no that you missed a really good part to say a man and clap right there In my old Pentecostal upbringing three people would have ran the aisles right there, but we're not there So just keep looking this way right now Jesus paid your sin debt You're not guilty anymore Yeah under understand this all that junk that you did all that mess that you were when God looks at you He does not see you that way. You are debt-free. It is over. It's done You owe him nothing for what you did in the life before you met Jesus. So your sins are forgiven But here's what's amazing to go along with that. You have total acceptance and you're at peace with God y'all When you think back as to to how we lived, how we talked, how we treated people, how we act in life, and think now we get to stand in the presence of God himself, and we're not dropped dead because of what we have done. Why is that? Jesus traded status with you on the cross. He said, I'm flipping this out, Scott. I've got a status you could never attain to, but it's gonna take my status to get in God's presence. But here's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna die in your place, so please give me your nasty status, and I'm gonna give you my righteous status, and your nasty status is gonna die on the cross with me, and I'm gonna give you my righteous status so the next time you go talk to my daddy
and you walk in the room, when he sees you, he's gonna look at you through the lens of looking at me, and he's gonna see a son that he loves, a son that is perfect, a son that is accepted. Ladies and gentlemen, that is the greatest benefit in the entire, that's why the Bible says in Hebrews 4, come boldly before the throne of grace and receive the grace that you need to help in your time of need. This is an amazing gift, and as we celebrate communion, that's what you are honoring, and that reality comes alive in you and I. Another benefit that goes with communion, healing of spirit, mind, and body, like a wholeness in our life. Would you turn to someone and tell them, you need some shalom in your home. Would you just tell them that? You need some shalom in your home. What is shalom? Shalom, okay, it's the word peace, but it more importantly means wholeness, nothing missing, nothing broken. Anybody like the idea of all the gaps are filled in in your life? Like there's not the anxiety and something missing, I'm not saying you got everything you want, I'm just saying you got everything you need. If you don't have it in your life right now, you don't need it yet,
because the Father knows everything you need and he'll bring it in due time. That means I can celebrate where I am, what I have, and know that my best days are still ahead of me. Oh no, still do your work, you gotta work. You don't get to sit on a lazy boy and begin to get promotion at work. You don't get to just hang out and just pray for the blessings of God, but you don't do anything. No, you gotta work your side, but you leave all the results up to him knowing that he'll bring into my life and he will take out of my life. Ah, shit, you see, this is a part that we miss. Not only are we celebrating what he gives us, but you need to thank God who left your life that was never a part of what his plan was for you. Come on, thank God for who you did not marry. Thank God for who stopped dating you. Thank God who said, no, we're not gonna share a room together. Are you kidding me? He saved you from so much hell that his work is to put in and to take out. This is what we're celebrating. He's about your wholeness. Not just you getting to heaven, but bring some heaven where you are. Not just life, but life more abundant right here.
It's time to laugh deep inside again. It's time for a joy that makes no sense knowing that if God be for me, who can be against me? There's a wholeness body, soul, and spirit. There's nothing like that in the world. Here's another benefit, and I love this. Shame from the past is gone. Wow. Do you know why it's gone? Because shame is not just a bad feeling. Shame is an identity. Guilt is when you feel bad about what you did. Shame is when you say, I am the problem. I am bad. When you begin to relate with what's wrong instead of saying, I do bad things sometimes, you've taken such an identity on that directs and leads your entire life. It messes with your mind. It messes with your relationships. It messes with your future. It messes with your rest because you are imploding. Jesus said that's too much for you to carry. And the Bible says in Hebrews that when he went to the cross he took shame with it. No more shame. I don't care where you were or what you did. I don't care what your past was, what you got caught for, what you didn't get caught for.
I don't care what happened there. When you said yes to Jesus, shame off of you. Shame on the cross. I get to stand free and clear, and I get to live with a new identity in my life. I mean, that's some good news right there. That's what Jesus did. Very quickly, the presence and the blessing of Jesus in your life. Oh, there ain't nothing like that in the world. He prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies. What? That's right. That means there's some folks that don't want you to succeed in life, and he says, I'm gonna put a table right in front of them and lay a steak on your table, and I want you to sit down and eat it, and there ain't nothing like eating a steak in front of somebody who doesn't want you to eat that steak. He said, I'm gonna do that, and not to get on their nerves, but I know how to take care of you. They can plot and plan, but no weapon. formed against you is going to prosper and every tongue that rises against you all that hate on social media, let that mess go, I will take care of that I'll deal with that, vengeance is mine, I get to rest, his presence and his blessing is working in my life and he's taking care of things, I get to rest the fact that he's here and in his presence
fullness of joy. How are you laughing with what you're going through because if God be for me he strengthens, another one, he strengthens and satisfies our appetites. Y'all know you got an appetite for some stuff you ought not be eating right? I got an appetite for Reese's and I gotta push back on them things, I gotta push back on them things, they talk to me at the wrong time all the time but there's some other appetites from our former life that still talk to us, just because I said yes to Jesus doesn't mean I still don't have those appetites, Jesus comes in and starts to remove the appetites, in other words he hands you a new menu to start ordering from, that is the old menu and that stuff is killing you, I'm giving you a new menu that you can start ordering good stuff that's going to prop you up and set your future, I will establish and I will strengthen your life, I'm going, then the final one that we could go on but let me just give, he empowers us in life and eternity, greater is he that is in me than all the stuff that's surrounding me, the blood is on the doorpost, he thought I was worth saving so he came and changed my life, there's nothing like knowing that he's for me, that he died in our place for us, don't ever let that become common, do what you can to dust that off and keep that a reality, again that's why communion is not a ritual, it isn't, the Bible doesn't say it has to be a certain kind of bread, it doesn't have to say it has to be a certain kind of wine or a certain grape juice, that means wherever you are you can take it, get your Ritz cracker and Diet Coke out and take communion, I'm gonna pray over it, God before you, I recognize that Jesus you did this for me and I apply everything you died for into my life, I'm not living below anything you paid for, I refuse to live a mediocre life when you died, you did all of that for me, I will live up to the promise not down to my attitude, up to the promise not down to what I think, up to the promise not down to what life says, I will live up to what you say about me not down to what I say about me, we change those things, because of Jesus's sacrifice we have the rest of the Apostles Creed then, those little, the phrases after that that become fully
alive, it says we believe in the forgiveness of sin, that's because of what Jesus did and we celebrate that, but it also says this in the Apostles Creed and in the resurrection of the body, I love that because where we are today the clock is running down, y'all do realize there is a day coming, you're gonna see Jesus face to face right here, in fact the Bible says in 1st Corinthians chapter 15, I love this, it says in a moment in the twinkling of an eye the dead are going to rise, how do you know that's going to freak some people out in our world, the dead are going to rise and then those who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the air, why do the dead rise first because they're six feet under, it takes a minute to get there where the rest of us are, that's just that just makes logical sense right there, y'all come on come on come on, oh now we go, like not now we go together and be with Jesus forever, there is a day coming, there's a day coming y'all that there's gonna be this mass exodus, this boom, they're gone, billions of believers left the earth, what in the world just happened, that day is coming and we're gonna have this glorified body, some of y'all in the gym working on a glorified body, it ain't common in this lifetime I tell you right now, so eat a Reese's cup, I'm just saying like like there's this glorified reality that's gonna hit our life and let me just explain to you what it is, something to look forward to, free from pain, free from suffering, no more decay, no more getting old, wrinkles gone, no more tears, no more dying, done, over, settled, that was in this world but when we're with him it's a new day, you're not going to be limited by the physical laws of this world, gravity can't hold you, when Jesus came back from the dead in his glorified body, the Bible says he walked through walls to talk to the disciples, travel at the speed of thought went here went there baby I'm gonna do a world tour within about five minutes when that day hits I'm gone the limitations are gone y'all some of y'all look at me like oh my god no I gotta read your Bible strength the ability to move freely the pain the hurt the goodbyes will never happen again how many of you have somebody that you love that passed away that they're asleep right now but you're
looking forward to seeing them again on that day when they get up all right I've got I've got two children that I can't wait to hang out with Isaiah and Gabrielle and get Caleb together and all three of my kids I can't wait for that day I've got grandparents there my aunt just died last week and split heaven wide open I can't wait to see my aunt again that that day is coming you see for the believer this is our reality some of you have parents there some you have grandparents there you got a brother a sister some of you have a child that's there like me there's gonna be an amazing celebration on that day and the Bible goes are the the creed goes on to say and then life everlasting that means it'll never end and let me just help you you're not going to be this little floating spirit with it with a pair of wings in heaven it ain't going to go that way it ain't gonna go that way no no no the Bible says that flesh and blood will not enter heaven but flesh with a glorified body will we will know each other no more gaining weight there is something book of Revelation called the marriage supper of the lamb baby I'm wearing my stretchy pants and I'm gonna eat that day I'm gonna eat that day eat that day yes I am I want to ask you to stand to your feet in the room with me if you would we remember we celebrate watch and we receive and live with the promises I just talked about what Jesus paid for on the cross for you and I that's what we celebrate at communion and not just it happened then but say now as for me in my house I'm taking it it's a blessing to be received I believe as we take communion today there can be absolute divine healing in your body as we take communion because Jesus died for that healing he can break the pain of anxiety and depression off of your mind in your life because Jesus died for that that's why they put a crown of thorns on his head he paid the price for your mind I want you to understand every promise is yours and when we take communion y'all lean in and don't let it just be a look back I'm gonna glance back but I'm gonna go hard looking forward knowing that if God before me who can be against me this is how we live our life let me let me finish with this have you know in the Olympics whenever all the teams are
competing and at the end when that that game was over with and they always put the United States at the top it's my story I'll tell it the way I want to all right gold silver bronze you've got Americans standing there they're crying they're they're singing the national anthem and and and and Americans that are there that are attending they're like hands over the heart and the flag is there and we're singing the national anthem do you know who's not singing the national anthem people from other countries some are going but they don't stand and put their hand over their heart and sing because it's not their country they don't have any allegiance to America doesn't make them bad doesn't make them less of a person we love other countries it's just not their anthem because there's no allegiance there the reason I bring this up is for you to understand in the scriptures along with this in first Corinthians that tells us to take communion it says this but if you're not a believer do not take communion if you've not sworn an allegiance of your heart to Jesus then we don't expect you to sing the anthem of the church we're not saying that you're a bad person we love you dearly and we want you to sing the anthem of the church we want you to be a part of that but I just want to respectfully ask you to just refrain from from from joining us in communion if that's if you've not said yes to Jesus in your heart again we love you but just just stand with us thank you for being here and for your reverence but let this just be for those who have said yes to Jesus now with that being said I want to give you the opportunity to do that today. I would love to have you join this team and Sing this anthem with us, but only if your heart is saying I need Jesus as my Lord and Savior I want him to come in and take control of my life. I don't just want to be able to check a box and say yes I'm a Christian. I'm going to bring him into my world so I can live and serve him with all that I am That's what we're asking. You're not perfect. Oh, you're gonna fall down You're gonna mess up. You still got your challenges all believers do But what you're saying is I promise I'll keep getting up and keep moving towards him. So would you bow your heads on this room? If you're here today and you're saying Scott I want to accept Christ as my Savior, I Want to surrender my life to him
I want to ask him to forgive me and take all of my sins so that I can have his status on my life And grow in my faith With Jesus and I just want you to pray this prayer say Jesus I accept you into my heart Forgive me for my past for the sin for the mess I believe You died for me and that today You love me. You were for me so today I ask you to come into my heart and Forgive me for all my sin Change me Take away all that I am and give me all that you are. I Receive you as my Lord and my Savior in Jesus name Amen, can the church just clap your hands real quick and celebrate all those who just made that prayer made that declaration Let me help you welcome to the church We a little crazy and we got some challenges, but we're doing it together Today now if you just prayed that prayer from your heart I'm going to invite you and encourage you to participate in communion with us today The Bible says get your communion cup out if you would the Bible says in 1st Corinthians chapter 11 It lays out This this flow of what it means to actually take communion We have a picture of this being spoken to it says the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed He took the bread and when he had given thanks he broke it and said this is my body Which is for you do this in? remembrance of me
Would you take that bread? A little wafer that you have on the top of your cup And I want you to remember and consider that his body was busted and broken for you Whatever needs to be healed whatever from the top of your head to the sole of your feet He knows how to heal and to restore and as you take communion today You're not just remembering what he did but based on what he did I now expect and celebrate and I'm excited What's on the way into my life? Wholeness shalom of God at this time you can take the bread You Thank you Jesus The Bible goes on to say in the same way he also he took the cup and He said this cup is the new covenant in my blood Do this as often as you drink it in remembrance of me New covenant. Yes Because the former covenant all it did in the Old Testament was cover sin in this covenant. It removes sin absolute and total status change The status of Christ because of the forgiveness of sin Right now you can take the cup Oh the blood of Jesus Oh The blood of Jesus Oh The blood of Jesus What does it do it washes white as Snow can you sing that with me get one more time? Come on Oh It changes everything O the blood of Jesus, O the blood of Jesus, it washes white as snow.
Is anybody grateful for the price Jesus paid for you and the benefit package that came with it? Everything he provided. Father we worship you today. Thank you for sending your son and Jesus thank you that you went all the way. You didn't stop partway but you completed the mission so that we can be here today. The body of Christ, the family of God. As we unite together, as we grow and worship together, as we share the good news of Jesus everywhere we are. I thank you that your presence unites us, that your promises are fully alive in us and that we will remember you. We put our eyes back on what you did so we can live with everything you paid for. Today God I speak healing in this room. Today I speak restoration. Today I speak a presence that only you can bring inside those homes that the pain and difficulty would go and laughter would fill the hallways of the house. I pray God dreams and hopes would come back alive again. That shame would be lifted off of people's lives when we understand the price has already been paid for it. We love you today. We honor you today and it's our privilege to be called a Christ follower and sing the anthem of the church. Thank you for this identity that only comes through Jesus Christ. We worship you today in Jesus name and everybody said amen. Amen. One more time put those hands together and thank him today for that. I told you the message would encourage you. For more encouraging messages feel free to visit our website Freelifechapel.org. Until then I hope you have an amazing day.
