Now you can read your Bibles. So thanks to Abraham for installing them. We're going to try to control that. We're learning from the last few years on how to do that, so just, it's going to be great. But I want to just, I want to pray, and just share this message, and I pray that it blesses you, and most of all that it makes you think. Lord God, I thank you for this opportunity to share your word. I thank you for each and every person that's here. And I thank you, Lord, the fact that we can come together to celebrate your birth, Lord. We give you all honor and all glory. In Jesus' name, amen. Today's message is titled, His Return is Promised. His return is promised. I want to just start off with a couple little footnotes, because it, Christmas is a strange time sometimes for, for believers. Because there's so many within the spectrum of going all out and just decorating your house, and compared to, oh, we don't have a tree, we don't celebrate Christmas, I'm super Christian.
And I want to just address that right away. I just want to say that Christmas, where we celebrate, is not the actual birthday of Jesus, just so we know. But I do want to say this, is that we know he was born. We know that he was born, and it's a beautiful thing that the world can come together on a specific day to say, we're going to celebrate the birth of Christ. You know, so that's number one, it's a beautiful thing. Another thing that I want to say is a lot of times, many people have said that, that there's, there's why that date, or, and there's a lot of suspicion and, and things like that, that that was a pagan, a pagan God's birthday and things like that. And I want to just quickly share something is that, you know, kingdoms of the past, when they have conquered other kingdoms, the first thing they do is go to that kingdom's temples, and they build their temples on top of theirs. Because if you can crush the spirit of a nation, and build upon their gods, it demoralizes the people. So even if way back somebody celebrated what we consider Christmas, a pagan, a pagan's birthday, what Christianity did was say this, we are because we are bringing in the kingdom of God. And we are building on top of the kingdoms and gods of a false idol. And I'll say this. If there was another idol that people worshipped on this day, what's his name? You don't know exactly, that's the point, is that on this day, the entire world, obviously we know we're a little early, a few days early, because it falls on during the week, but my point is this, is that it's important, I think it's important for the world, it's important for the nation to come together and recognize the birth of Christ, of who it is that we worship. And you know, usually a lot of times, as a pastor, as a preacher, on our Christmas service, it's like, oh let's talk about the birth of Christ, let's talk about those things, which are important, and I'm going to skim through some of those, just to show you, because this is important, what I'm about to show you, because I'm going to end this with a question. In Isaiah 7, 14, it says this, for instance, because there was many prophecies about the Messiah coming before he was born, Isaiah 7, 14 says, therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign, behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name, Emmanuel, and you're like, well that doesn't say Jesus, you know, Emmanuel means God with us, so this was, we're talking roughly 700 years before Christ, that the prophet Isaiah was given a word, that a virgin is going to conceive a son, and that son will be God with us, God in the flesh, hundreds of years before. Another one, Micah chapter 5, verse 2, it's another prophecy, and it says, but you, oh Bethlehem, talking about the small city of Bethlehem where Jesus was born, it says, who
are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be the ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days. Now, you've got to understand Bethlehem is, for instance, those of you that live here, it would be, you would think that if somebody great was going to be born, it would be in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, something like that, but instead it would be like somebody great is going to be born out of Livingston, Bakersfield, you know, somebody from Livingston is like, hey, why are you dissing us, sorry, I'll say Empire. Oh, man, I can't say nothing, but this prophecy, not only the first one that says, from a virgin shall conceive a son, not only does it say from Bethlehem, but Isaiah 9, 6 says this other one, we could go on and on and on, these are just the three I wanted to choose. Again, hundreds of years before Christ was born, it says, for to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulders, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace. So, these are just three prophecies, but there are over 300 prophecies in the Old Testament that point to the birth of Christ, the life of Christ, the death of Christ, and the resurrection of Christ, over 300 prophecies, that's a lot. So, how many of you, I'm going to ask a question, and this isn't the main question I'm going to ask at the end, but how many of you believe that Jesus was born? Okay, okay, not every hand went up, not sure if you're in the right church, but I will say this, I'm confident to say, for the most part, the reason you're here on this Sunday morning, not only on this Sunday morning, but on this Christmas service, is because you're here to celebrate, to acknowledge, to know that Jesus, the Christ, the one that was born in Bethlehem, the one that was born from a virgin, was conceived, he was born, the whole world worships him. That's why we're here, that's why we're here together, this is our Christmas service. Now, if we are all confident of that, that means that we believe in the 300 plus prophecies, or else we wouldn't be here, because we're not here because it's a make-believe thing, we're not here because it's a children's thing, we're here because the Savior was born. Why did he have to be born of a virgin? Man was infected with sin from the time of Adam and Eve,
and somebody had to come and save us and break us free from it. If he had been born through the seed of a man, he would have been born in sin. That's why the Bible says that, it says here that it had to be from a virgin because he would then not be infected with that sin, would grow up and set us free from that sin. That's why that's important. So, here's my question. If we're here, Christmas service, Sunday service, we believe in Jesus, that means we, then by default we believe in the 300 plus prophecies that the Old Testament said. Some of it written 1,000 years before he came, 700 years before he came, 500 years before he came, 400 years before he came, all of these prophecies. You know, the Bible even says that, I mean the likelihood that one person will fulfill just 20, forget the 300, that one person will fulfill all, just 20 of them, would be the same impossibility of getting silver dollar coins, filling up the state of Texas all the way up to here, grabbing one of them, put a Sharpie on it, putting a blindfold on, throwing that somewhere in Texas, somebody else getting a blindfold, that person, and then them telling them, listen, you gotta pick the one with the Sharpie out of all the state of Texas, up to your waist, but you only get one shot to pick the right coin.
The likelihood, the likelihood of that happening are the same odds that one person would fulfill 20 prophecies. Jesus fulfilled 20 in one day. The impossibility that he fulfilled 300 plus, there's no questions asked. Well, if the 300 plus prophecies came true, and that's what we're here to do today, then I got a question for you. What do we do with his other prophecies that say he's coming again? See, we can't be all super celebrating Christmas, and it's a, oh, Jesus is the reason for the season, because in essence, we're saying we believe all those prophecies, but if we live otherwise, then we don't believe the prophecies for his second coming. It's kind of one of those, you believe it all, or you don't believe it at all. That's what it comes down to. I'm gonna read a couple of verses. Acts 1, 11. Jesus already was crucified. He's already resurrected. He's standing there with his believers, and he says, and the Bible says that he began to ascend up into heaven, and as they're looking up, watching him go, there's an angel standing there that says, men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven?
This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven. That's prophecy, and the same way you see him go up is the same way he's going to come down. He's going to come back. Here's another one. Matthew 24, 36 through 44. This is Jesus talking. It says, but concerning that day and hour, nobody knows. Nobody knows when he's coming back, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. Remember, Noah was told to build an ark because a flood was coming. He wasn't told when, he didn't know how. He just told build an ark and tell, compel people to come in. Verse 38 says, for as in those days before the flood, they were eating and drinking and marrying and giving in marriage. In other words, people were just living their life, going to the mall, going to Target, going to the movies, doing this, doing that, going to Best Buy, going to restaurants, marrying and falling in love and having children. That's what was happening at the time before the flood. Like today, just like now. We're gonna celebrate and be with our families
and have dinners and all these things. And those are beautiful things to have. He says, in those days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage until the day when Noah entered the ark. And they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away. So will the coming of the son of man be. This is Jesus saying this. He says, I'm coming back. He says, then two men will be in the field. One will be taken and one left. Two women will be grinding at the mill. one will be taken and one left again this is jesus saying he says therefore stay awake stay awake for you do not know on what day your lord is coming but know this that if the master of the house had known in one part of the night the thief was coming he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into therefore you also must be ready for the son of man is coming at an hour you do not expect yeah i know it's not a fluffy christmas message i'm not here to give fluffy christian messages christmas message i'm here to give you what the truth says because if i'm going to get some of you in here once a year you're going to hear the gospel in luke in luke chapter 21 25 28 here's another prophecy jesus speaking again he says there will be signs in sun there will be signs in sun and moon and stars and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves does it feel like our nations are in distress right now 26 says people fainting with fear and with foreboding about what is coming on the world does that sound like today for the powers of the heavens will be shaken and and then they will see the son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory
now when these things begin to take place straighten up raise your heads because your redemption is drawing near so what is jesus saying he says when you start to see the nations quake when you start to see the nations in distress and and people are freaking out don't know what to do he says get yourselves ready because he's coming right in john 5 28 29 again he says do not marvel at this for an hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice and they will come out those who have done good to the resurrection of life and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment remember we're here to celebrate christmas because we believe in the 300 plus prophecies of the old testament and if we really believe those prophecies then we need to listen to these prophecies because you can't believe in one and not the other that would make no sense two more verses so i want to continue with our program but hebrews chapter 9 27 and 29 says this and just as it is appointed for man to die once and after that comes the judgment so christ having been offered once to bear the sins of many will appear a second time not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him see this is the thing about the old testament the old testament in essence gave you the law the 10 commandments most of us know it by the 10 commandments it gave you laws but here's the problem is when you're given a law doesn't help you to not break the law just tells you what not to break and what makes it hard is the fact that when all these laws are given because there's more than 10 commandments is actually 300 plus laws and and god told the people of israel he says these are your laws to follow but if you break one you break them all well that ain't fair can you imagine if you broke one law here in america you broke them all we'd all be in prison i know some of you sped over here somebody did a hollywood stop at a stop sign red light red light you know you sped through that right when it turned you're laughing because it happened huh stephanie all the way over here break one law you break them all man that's rough so the old testament is pointing out that here's the laws but there's nothing to keep you here's the beauty of christ because once christ came he fulfilled the law he completed the law because if if you broke one you broke them all so he says i will fulfill them all and through me i will set you free that is that that's what grace means
that's why it's exciting to celebrate the birth of christ because if he were never birthed we would never have any freedom from this infection of sin that we were born in but because he came he made a way for us to be free for us to be set free. That's a celebration, man. The last verse, it's a promise that he makes to us. In John chapter 14, verses one through three, Jesus says, don't let your hearts be troubled. And maybe right now in this season, maybe it's a great season, maybe it's not. Maybe Christmas is a time where you start thinking about the people you've lost or the things you don't have or the bills you can't pay. You're embarrassed to show up to family meetings because you don't have any gifts and your heart's troubled. Or maybe just the direction of your life where you lost your job or just things ain't happening. You feel like you're hitting a dead end everywhere you go, everywhere you turn, the doors are slamming shut in your face. Whoever it may be, whatever it is, your situation, I want this verse to speak into your heart. And Jesus says, let not your heart be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me because in my Father's house are many rooms. And if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again. And I will take you to myself
that where I am, you may be also. So the 300 plus prophecies talking about Jesus being born, his life, his burial, his resurrection, all came true down to the very town that he was born in. There was prophecies of him coming into Jerusalem on a donkey. There was prophecies that he would be nailed, that his hands and feet would be pierced. Yet the Roman way of executing was, Rome wasn't even in existence when that scripture was written, Psalm 22. So many prophecy after prophecy after prophecy came true. So I just got to leave with that question. What do we do with the prophecies now about his second coming? Because you can't celebrate one and live as if the other isn't true. So what do we do with this? It's a choice. You can't celebrate Christmas unless you believe. And if you believe, how can you continue to live a life with Christ? You know, and I know you're here, many of you, because it is a Christmas service. But what good is it if I don't share this with you? Do I want your children to have gifts? Heck yeah. Do I enjoy it? Man, that was beautiful, the children. Because every child is a blessing from God.
Every single child is a blessing from God. And it's a beautiful thing. It's a beautiful thing for even our young people, our adults, everybody to share what they're sharing. But ultimately, if it is truly the reason, Jesus is the reason for the people to share, for the season, then we gotta share the message. And I gotta give this opportunity for anyone that if you wanna surrender your life to the Lord, what better time than Christmas Day service? Whether you're here, whether you're watching through your screen, guys, thousands of people are going to watch this in prisons across America. Every single one of our services, Bible studies and podcasts. Our Thanksgiving one, I think it's like 98,000 views, just that one service. So I always wanna give an opportunity for anyone watching, anyone here, that today's a day of salvation. Tomorrow's not promised. There's no specific way to get saved, but there is, I can guide you in that prayer. Can we just quickly stand really quick before we continue? And if that is you, I'm not gonna have you walk up front, nothing like that, but I just want you to stay where you're at. Those of you on screen, those of you that are watching through YouTube,
please stand wherever it is that you're at. And the Bible says in Romans 10, 9, that if you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord, you shall be saved. So there's no specific prayer, but I can guide you in that prayer. And I'll tell you what, man, I love everything that's happening today, but my highlight would be if somebody gets saved, man. That's the highlight of this whole thing because the Bible says that all of heaven rejoices when one sinner repents. And I know it's not common to have an altar call for Christmas service, but hey, we're not called to do things like anybody else. So if that is you, repeat after me. already saved don't repeat it you're already saved come on man and if this and if everybody's saved this whole building praise god i know people will be repeating it as they watch it on the screen and just bow our heads let's just respect and repeat after me if that is you and say lord god i repent of all my sins i believe you died on the cross and after three days i believe you rose again we celebrate you because without you i would still be lost take out my heart of stone and give me a brand new heart inspire me live inside of me and let me walk out in my life what you are teaching me in jesus name amen amen let's give the lord a hand we could all have a seat and we're going to continue our program thank you so much
