Becoming Bright and Salty Disciples

Hey, it's a good day to be in the house of the Lord, right? Come on, it's a beautiful day outside. I'm glad you guys are inside for just a minute. We're opening up our Bibles to Matthew chapter five, and we are launching into a brand new sermon series that we're calling Kingdom Culture. And so I wanna encourage you guys to follow along, to make this a priority every single week. You don't wanna miss a week of this. And I also wanna encourage you to take notes as the Lord lays some things on your heart to jot down as we all apply these things to our life and trying to live the kingdom life that God's called us to. Well, let me pray, and then we're gonna get started today. Okay, Father, today I pray that we would hear directly from you, and God, I pray that you would speak directly to us in a way that makes an impact in our life and makes an impact through our life.

Lord, we love you. We are grateful to be in your house today. Thank you for your Word, and I pray that you would speak loudly in this moment. In Jesus' name we pray, and all God's people said. Amen. Amen. So many of us know far too well what it's like to cheer for a losing team. Why are you laughing? As a Dallas Cowboys fan, I can tell you right now that I am convinced that winning isn't even an option ever again. And some of y'all know what I'm talking about, right? It's just like as you lose over and over again, as you cheer for a team that lives and operates in a losing culture, you just give up hope on winning. Titans fans, you know what I'm talking about, right? Falcons fans, you guys get that. But in the NFL especially, nobody wants to be on a losing team. Nobody wants to have a losing team. And that's why Black Monday is such a big deal every single year. Now some of you are like, what's Black Monday, right? You know what Black Friday is. It's when you shop for discounted items the day after Thanksgiving in the middle of the night. But Black Monday is actually another day on your calendar where every single year NFL coaches get fired

like clockwork. It's a real thing. Like seriously, Google this if you don't believe me. In fact, this year already in 2025, there have been 22 NFL coaches, coordinators, and GMs that have already been fired. So Black Monday, it happens like clockwork every single year on the day following the final game of the season. And here's why that happens. It's because NFL owners know that leaders determine culture. And that's why if you have a losing culture, you get so excited about potential new leaders and you think, man, if that guy could become our coach, then maybe he could turn this thing around. That's true in the world of sports. It's true in politics, but it's especially true in the NFL. That's why I was thinking just a couple weeks ago, I was so excited when they announced that Deion Sanders might be the new coach of the Cowboys. Anybody see that in the news? Well, when I heard that, I was so excited. I was already thinking about the potential and all the possibilities. I was so excited about this new season where he was gonna be bringing this elite culture and we were gonna have this season of excellence and championship DNA. And I knew that that was gonna happen for the Cowboys, but then the Cowboys announced

that they were gonna hire somebody else instead. Someone that's never coached a football team in their life. I'm sure it's gonna be fine. But when I heard that, I was like, you gotta be kidding me, not again. We're not gonna do this again, right? You say, Jordan, why is that so frustrating for you? It's frustrating because I know for a fact that leaders determine culture. And if you wanna have a winning culture, you need to hitch your wagon to a proven winner. When I was reading Matthew chapter five today, I don't know why my mind went there, but it went there, all right? But I just wrote down in my notes this statement. I said, the only way to guarantee a winning culture is to follow a leader that refuses to lose. In fact, I would rephrase it right now and say the only way to guarantee a winning culture is to follow a leader that can't lose. And that is not even a possibility in the world of sports, but that is a possibility in this thing called life. See, Jesus never coached football, but in Matthew chapter five, he showed us that he was a leader that cannot lose. And he showed us this fact in the sermon on the mount. And the primary message that he was communicating on that day to his followers was simply this. He showed up and said, I'm a new kind of leader. I'm a different kind of king.

And he said, this is a new day. And if you believe in me, you're gonna follow me. But here's what you need to know. You cannot follow me and remain the same. Jesus said, if you follow me, you must evacuate the culture of this world. And you must fully embrace a new kind of culture in a brand new way of life. Throughout this message series, that's what we're gonna see in Matthew chapter five. Jesus is gonna call each one of us into a kingdom culture. And he tells us not just who we are in Christ, but he's gonna tell us how we should live because of Christ. So Matthew chapter five is where we're gonna be spending our time. And I wanna just invite you to join me there as we walk through this message that some people call the greatest sermon ever preached. These are the words of Jesus that we're gonna be unpacking and really discovering over the next several weeks. But this chapter begins in verse one with these words. Chapter five, verse one says, when he saw the crowds, he went up on the mountain and after he sat down, his disciples came to him and then he began to teach them. I want you to use your imagination as we navigate this text. And I want you to try to imagine the scene. This is Jesus, he's hanging out on the side of a mountain overlooking the beautiful sea of Galilee. In front of him are his disciples and many other people and Jesus is speaking to them and he's teaching them,

the Bible says, he's in a setting where he's teaching. But here's what I want you to know about his followers as you try to imagine this scene. You need to understand that these people were not the who's who of Israel in the first century. They were not the decision makers or the government leaders or the shot callers of Galilee. This was a group of common people that were living an ordinary life before they recognized Jesus as the Messiah. And these people were under occupation, which essentially means they couldn't make their own laws, they couldn't plan their own futures, they couldn't determine their own destinies. And yet on this particular day from the Mount of Beatitudes, Jesus looks at these ordinary people and he tells them two primary things. He tells them first of all, you are the salt of the earth. And number two, you are the light of the world. Jesus was teaching these people and he was preaching over these people. And he was saying to them, you may feel like an ordinary person, you may feel like you are insignificant when it comes to the things of God. But if you are a follower of Jesus Christ, you are following a leader that refuses to lose and your life can make a huge impact in this world. You know, I heard a story the other day about a man who showed up at a county fair.

He came across this little bitty girl that had this huge fluff of cotton candy on a stick. And for some reason he approached her as he saw this cotton candy, it was almost as big as this little girl and this is what he said. He said, how in the world could a little bitty girl like you eat that much cotton candy? The little girl looked at the man, she said, well, sir, that's easy to explain. I'm much bigger on the inside than I am on the outside. And you know, the same is true for all of us if we truly know Jesus. He said, you've been called into a new culture and you've been commissioned to be a difference maker. And if you truly follow Jesus, you need to understand that he expects you to be a bright and salty disciple. In fact, that's what I wanna call this message today. This message is entitled, How to Become a Bright and Salty Disciple. Because when you read the words of Jesus, that's what he tells us that we should be. In fact, look at verse 13. He says this, you are the salt of the earth. He's talking to followers just like us. And he says, you, my friend, are the salt of the earth. The question is why? Why does Jesus call us salt? Well, let me unpack salt just a little bit

in case you don't know what salt is, all right? Salt is a miracle. I mean, let's just talk scientifically for a second. Salt in and of itself is a miracle. I say that because salt is chemically composed of sodium and chloride. Now, if this afternoon you decided that you were gonna pour a little hydrochloric acid on your hand, you know what would happen? Your hand would dissolve in about an hour, all right? If you decided that you were gonna take a little swig of hydrochloric acid right after lunch today, you would die a very fast and painful death. But when you add sodium to hydrochloride, you get salt, which is one of the most useful substances on planet Earth. But salt isn't only useful, I think it's important for us to understand that salt was also extremely valuable in the days of Jesus. I know that's hard for us to imagine because salt is free on every single table of every restaurant in this city. I know it's hard to imagine because what we take for granted today was like pure gold in those days. In fact, in biblical times, salt was often traded for gold ounce for ounce. Did you know that? Gold and salt had the same value. History tells us that Roman soldiers were oftentimes paid in salt. In fact, if you look up the word salary in the English, the word salary actually derived from the same word for salt. That's where we get that word. In fact, if a Roman soldier didn't do his job 2,000 years ago, history says he wouldn't get all his salt.

That's where we get the phrase, he isn't worth his salt. Have you ever heard that before? Well, that's where that phrase comes from. So why was salt so valuable in the first century? I think it really boils down to three primary reasons. Number one, it's because it was a natural preservative. And we know 2,000 years ago, obviously, there was no electricity, there was no refrigeration, there were no freezers in your basement. So salt was needed if you wanted to preserve meat. It was the only way that they did this back in the day. So that's the number one reason. The number two reason is because it adds flavor to food. In fact, we know that very well. That's what we use salt primarily for today. But you can go all the way back to Job 6, verse 6, and you see that salt was used to make food taste better. The third reason is because salt was used in the construction of buildings. Now, many people don't realize that. But ancient writers tell us that the roof on most first-century homes was layered with, first of all, tree limbs. They would cover a roof with tree limbs. On top of the tree limbs, they would put leaves from the tree. On top of the leaves, they would put a layer of mud. And then the final layer of most roofs in the first century was salt. And when they added the salt, it made the roof harder. And it would reduce the erosion of the mud when the rain would fall from the sky. So when Jesus looks at us and says, You are the salt, here's what I want you to understand. Salt in those days was a miracle. It was a preservative.

It was very useful, but it was also very valuable. But salt is most valuable when? When it fulfills its purpose. So how does that happen? Well, if you're taking notes, this is how it happens. Number one, you ready? Salt must be distributed. If salt is going to fulfill its purpose, salt must be distributed. Look at this verse. You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt should lose its taste, how can it be made salty? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet. Hey, get this today. Salt makes zero impact if it remains in the shaker. Think about that. Salt makes zero impact if it remains in the shaker. And that's what Jesus is saying in this passage about every one of our lives. He tells us as believers, you are the salt of the earth. But then I want you to notice something in the text. The very next word is, but. You're the salt of the earth, but. Do you see it? Hey, if you're saved, Jesus says you're salt. All of us, if you're saved, you're salt. However, if you stay in the shaker and you don't fulfill your purpose, then you as salt will no longer be salty. You know, that's one of the main reasons that Jesus has us here today. He tells us that we should distribute salt on the earth because the world is decaying and it's rotting at the core. So our job as salt is to preserve the holiness of God. Our job as believers is to preserve the goodness of Jesus. That's our job as a believer.

That's our job collectively as the church. Hey, think about that today. Most of us would say the culture in America is pretty bad right now. Right. Most people would say that. But just think for a second, as bad as the culture may be right now, imagine how bad it would be if churches didn't exist. Think about how bad it would be if there were no missionaries. If there were no Christians. If there were no Bible study teachers. If there were no Bibles. If there were no preachers standing on platforms and preaching the true gospel of Jesus Christ. Here's what Jesus says. Your job is to be salt and to stay salty and to preserve the holiness of God. to the lost world around you. But look at what he goes on to say in verse 13. He says, but if the salt should lose its taste, how can it be made salty? Now any chemistry teacher will tell you that it is impossible in a way for salt to become unsalty. Sodium chloride is one of the most stable compounds in the entire universe. It doesn't change, it never loses its character. But I want you to see that when Jesus said that in that day, that it was actually possible when you look at the context in which he spoke. See, most of the salt that was used in the region of Galilee came from the Dead Sea, which is about 1,400 feet below sea level. So imagine all the waters that flowed down

from the Dan Springs into the Sea of Galilee, then went from the Sea of Galilee to the Jordan River, then flowed all the way from the Jordan River and ended up right here at the Dead Sea, at the lowest point on planet Earth. There's nowhere that is lower than the Dead Sea. So once the water got to this place, it had nowhere else to go. So here's what would happen. The sun would evaporate the water and leave behind this chunky white powder that was made up of salt, but also hundreds of different minerals. And that powder contained enough salt to season meat or to add flavor to soup, but because it was mixed with so many other minerals and it wasn't 100% sodium chloride, it was very possible for the water to evaporate and for that salty mixture to lose its flavor or become nasty tasting. So understand what Jesus is saying here. He's saying that right there is a possibility, that right there happens all the time, and that can happen in your life as a believer. So what does that have to do with us as a believer? Well, here's the point that Jesus was making. He's reminding us that as Christians, the worst thing that we can lose isn't our wealth, it's not our jobs, it's not our families, it's not our health.

The worst thing that we can lose isn't even our life, for that matter. He's reminding us that the worst thing that you can lose is your testimony. That's the worst thing you can lose, because when you lose your testimony, your salt loses its taste, and you can no longer accomplish what God has clearly commissioned you to do. And when that happens, this is what Jesus says. He says, he's talking to us as salt right here, right? But what does he say? He says, it is no longer good for anything, but to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet. He's talking to believers, and he's saying when we lose our saltiness, we are no longer good for anything. In other words, if you're a Christian and you lose your testimony, at that point, Jesus says you're literally good for nothing. I once heard a story about a little boy who walked into his house talking to his mother, and he said this, he said, mom, if you give me $5, I will be a good boy today. The mom looked back at the son, and she said this, she said, why can't you just be good for nothing like your daddy, all right? But anyway. Here's what Jesus says, all right? Hard transition to Jesus here, but Jesus said,

hey, if salt loses its taste, it becomes good for nothing. It's good for nothing. Hey, may I tell you something today, in all seriousness? That's the devil's goal for your life. That's what the devil wants for you. He wants to desalt everything in your life that's salty, and he wants to decommission you so that you can be good for nothing. And he wants to decommission you as any kind of threat to his culture. And do you know how the devil plans on desalting your saltiness? This is how he does it. The devil's primary tactic of contaminating the salt of your life is saturating you in the culture of this world. He says, that's the easiest way I can desalt you, or I can decommission you. I just have to saturate you in the world. Remember, that's why the Bible tells us that we should no longer conform to the world, but instead we should be transformed by the renewing of our mind, right? Listen, when we conform to this culture, instead of being transformed by the kingdom culture, we lose our saltiness. And Jesus says, when that happens, we're essentially good for nothing. But to what? What does the Bible say?

But to be trampled under people's feet, to be thrown out and trampled. Have you ever wondered what he meant by that statement? If you go back to the context of the day, whenever salt from the Dead Sea was found to be contaminated by other minerals, that's what would happen. It would taste really bad, or the salt would completely lose its taste at all. That happened, then the salt was worthless. You couldn't throw it out in a garden, you couldn't spread it in a field because it would kill whatever was planted. So instead, people would take that worthless salt and they would do what with it? They would throw it on the road and people would trample on it and they would travel over it until finally it would dissolve into the dirt. And that is the picture. That's what Jesus wants you to understand. That's the devil's goal for your life. In fact, that's his goal for every church. And you know what, it's unfortunate, but we have seen that story play out time and time again, not only in the lives of individuals like us, but in churches across this nation. Listen, you look at the landscape of America today and you'll have to understand, the church is being trampled on by the world.

There is very little respect for the church today. And I just believe that the reason is because the church has become too much like the world. Hey, look at the church of America today. We have lost our saltiness in a big way. We use the same foul language. We drink the same beer. We listen to the same music. We watch the same shows. We ignore the same Bible. And the fact is, the average person on the outside of the church is looking at the average person on the inside of the church and they're saying, that dude is no different than I am. Why in the world would I wanna follow Jesus? Why in the world would I wanna practice Christianity? And that's what Christ is talking about. Jesus is saying, hey, when salt is no longer salty, it becomes worthless. And once it's worthless, it's gonna be thrown onto the ground and people are gonna trample on it until finally it will just dissolve in the dirt and disappear. And that's what Jesus was saying in this message to us. The message that Christ has for me and for you today is this, stay salty, my friends, right? He's saying, stay salty.

Don't leave the salt in the shaker. He's saying, you are the salt of the earth, not your preacher, not your Bible study leader, you. If you know Christ, you are the salt of the earth. And Jesus said that your job is to preserve his holiness and preach his gospel and make a difference for his kingdom every single day that the Lord puts oxygen in your lungs and allows you to live on planet earth. He said, that is your job. Stay salty. But if we're gonna do our job, salt must be distributed. He goes on to say, and secondly, light must be displayed. Not only must salt be distributed, light must be displayed. Look at verse 14. He said, you, once again, he's talking to you if you're a Christ follower today, you are the light of the world. Now, oftentimes we have a question, what's the difference between salt and light? Have you ever wondered that? Let me try to simplify it for us today. Salt relates to our character. Light relates to our conduct. Salt deals with what we are. Light deals with what we do. See, the reason Jesus commands Christ followers to be light is because Jesus knows far too well that this world is in complete darkness. In fact, many times in scripture, we see in the Bible that we are told to be a bright light shining

in the dark world. Second Corinthians four, verse six said, let light shine out of darkness. Philippians two, verse 15, Paul tells us, be blameless and pure children of God. But then he goes on to say, shine like stars in the world. He's talking to us. You go to Ephesians five, verse eight. He said, for you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. So walk as children of light. Now, sometimes when we talk about light, people say, well, I thought Jesus was the light of the world. You ever wondered that? Like Jesus is the light of the world. Why is he saying that we are? Well, Jesus is the light of the world, first of all. In fact, read his words in John 8, 12. He said, I am the light of the world. There should be no confusion with that. But he goes on to say, anyone who follows me will never walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life. So once again, you have Jesus. He's the light of the world, but he's pointing at us as followers. And he's saying, but you are also the light. So the question is, how can Jesus be the light

and we be the light at the same time? Well, let me paint a picture that might make it a little bit easier to understand. Are you ready? Jesus is the sun and we are the moon. I want you to get this. Jesus is the sun and we are the moon. He is the light that reveals God. We are the light that reflects God. In Matthew 5, verse 14, he said, you are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, but rather on a lampstand, and it gives light for all who are in the house. So once again, get this picture. Jesus is the sun, and we are the moon, and the Bible says once we receive the light of Jesus, our job is to reflect the love of Jesus. You know, when I was a teenager, I'd already begun my relationship with Christ, but I didn't get that. I had a hard time really understanding how God made me and why God mobilized me. But I can remember in that moment, thinking as a teenager, there has to be a way for me to play both sides. There has to be a way for me as a follower of Jesus to follow him and still look like the world and talk like the world and think like the world

and live like the world. I wanted to be a Christian that was on my way to heaven, but I still wanted to hang out with my buddies and do all the things that they were doing on the weekends. And you know, years later, looking back, I realized that at that point in my spiritual journey, my reputation at school was more important to me than my relationship with God. I cared more about what people thought about me than I thought or cared what God thought about me. Maybe you've been there before. Anybody ever been in that place in your spiritual journey? Is it just me? Some of us have. A place where you wanted the best of both worlds? Listen, at that point, I wanted to be a follower of God. I wanted a ticket to heaven. I wanted to make sure my fire insurance was paid in full, but I also wanted to experience everything the world had to offer while I was still here on the earth. And let me just say, if you've ever been there before, then you understand this to be true. If your allegiance is divided between God and the world, your heart will be conflicted and your influence will be distorted. That's a natural thing. When your allegiance is divided and you're trying to play both sides, your heart's gonna be conflicted, but your influence is going to be distorted.

Matthew 6 says, no one can serve two masters. Jesus said, you cannot do what you want to do. Listen, do you realize in the eyes of God, when he observes people like us that are trying to be friends with the world, do you realize that Jesus and his perception of us, when he sees us hiding the light that we're supposed to be shining, when he sees us camouflaging our lives into this culture, when he sees us working hard to fit in in ways that we shouldn't be trying to fit in, do you understand Jesus views those actions in the same way he views adultery in a relationship between us and him? Adultery. So I want you to think about this. If you're a follower of Christ, you are the bride of Christ as the church. You're the bride. And Jesus says, when you pursue friendship with the world, it's like you're cheating on him with someone else. He views it as adultery. I'm not making this up. Read James 4.4. He says this, you adulterous people, look at his word choice. Don't you know that friendship with the world is hostility towards God? So whoever wants to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.

Here's what that verse tells me. It tells me that I right now have two options. I can either be in an exclusive relationship with God and I can live my life shining brightly for God, or I can try to pursue a relationship with him and the world. And the Bible says if I take that option, I'm positioning my life as an enemy of God. Look at what he just said. Whoever wants to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. So right here, Jesus is saying, gosh, you have a job and that is to be salt. You're the salt of the earth. But here's the thing. If you're trying to play this side and you're not gonna be salty or you're gonna lose your saltiness, you're not only doing something in opposition to God, no, you're positioning yourself as an enemy of God. When we refuse to be light, when we hide our light, when we camouflage our lives into the culture of this day, when we decide that's what we're gonna do, listen, we're positioning ourselves as an enemy of God. Anybody want God in opposition to you today? Listen, I want the blessings of God in my life. I want God's very best for my family. I want God to rain down favor from heaven on this church and a part of this fellowship. And the way that we see that happening through the word of God is obedience.

It's obedience and surrender and a full dedication to being the person that God created us to be. He said, you, my friend, are the salt of the earth. You, my friend, are the light of the world. And the last thing I want you to see is this. Scripture says, believers must be deployed. Salt must be distributed, light must be displayed, and believers must be deployed. Verse 16 says, in the same way, let your light shine before others so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. Maybe you've wondered the same thing I have. And that is, how do I know if I'm actually doing this or not? Like, how can I tell if I am living as salt in the earth? How can I tell if I'm letting my light shine? Well, here's the test he just showed you. The test is very simple. He says this, you know that you're a bright and salty disciple if other people see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. Do you see that? Because I'm convinced that the greatest two days in the life of every believer is, number one, the day you were born again, but then number two is the day you realized why you were born again. And man, that's what it is right here. He's saying when you begin to live your life in such a way where people are attracted to Jesus Christ

and where people start giving glory to God because of how he's used you in their life, man, that's when you know that you're a bright and salty disciple. Someone once said, the real mark of a saint is that he makes it easier for other people to believe in God. And man, when I hear that, when I'm challenged by that, I just have to ask the question, does that describe my life? And you as a believer, I believe you need to ask the question, does that describe my life? Can I say right now that I'm the salt of the earth? Am I able to say right now that I'm the light of the world? Are other people evaluating my life today and as a result, falling in love with Jesus and giving glory to my father in heaven? Because the truth is, hey, you and I aren't supposed to look like everyone else. Would you agree with that today? We're not supposed to act like everybody else. We're not supposed to talk like everybody else. We shouldn't look like everybody else because the Bible says we've been forgiven, we've been set free and we've been set apart. And Jesus tells us you have got to shine bright in this life. Why? Because this world needs to see him. This world needs to see him.

Reflect Christ, don't look like everybody else. You've been set apart for such a time as this. You know, when I was a little boy, I was blessed to have my great grandmother still alive. Her name was Viola Pearl, but all of us called her Diddy. And I have no idea why. But that's what everybody called her, Diddy. I don't remember too many things about Diddy, but there are a handful of things that I remember clear as day. I remember number one, Diddy was old, very old. She was 98 years old when she died, but she was 98 years old my whole life. She was always old. I also remember something else about Diddy, Diddy dipped snuff. Any of y'all have a grandmother that dipped snuff? It was disgusting. I also remember Diddy had a really bad case of diabetes. I remember one summer she lost a toe, next summer she lost a foot, next summer she lost a leg. As a young man, that made a huge impact on me. I was like, they're gonna keep on chopping on Diddy until she is with the Lord. But in our family, we loved it when Diddy would show up. For many reasons, but one of the main reasons as little kids is this. Every time Diddy would show up,

she would give us as the great grandchildren, a Diddy dollar. A Diddy dollar. Back then, by the way, kids, you have to remember, a dollar was a big deal. I grew up in the 1900s, it's a long time ago. Long time ago. But a dollar was a big deal in the 1900s. I remember in 1980s, man, a dollar was a big deal. But when Diddy would give us a dollar, it wouldn't be a paper dollar like we would exchange today. A Diddy dollar was most of the time a coin. You remember the Susan B. Anthony dollars? That's what she would give us. Susan B. Anthony coins. Now, they're pretty rare nowadays. In fact, they were only in circulation in America for only three years. And the reason that they stopped making those coins was because they looked too much like a quarter. And people didn't like that. Back in the day, people would say, you know, a dollar ought to look like a dollar. It ought to feel like a dollar. It ought to appear like it's worth four quarters and not just look like another quarter. To the general public of the day, what I call a Diddy dollar seemed like just another piece of loose change. It didn't stand out.

It wasn't set apart from other coins. It didn't appear to have much value at all. And for that reason, they just disappeared. Listen as I was thinking through this text this week, that's what the Lord put in my heart The Lord reminded me. You know what Jordan as a Christian You're not just another coin and somebody needs to hear that today Listen, you're following Jesus today You're not just another coin and your life shouldn't look like just another coin If you've been saved and you've been set apart by God He says you're special and he says you are the salt of the earth. You're the light of the world Not just someone else. This is you He's pointing at your life right now and he's reminding you that you are valuable to God In fact, the Bible says you are blessed and you are chosen and you are redeemed and you are adopted You've been sealed by the Holy Spirit of God and you're a daughter of the one true King Hey, the Bible says that you are a son. You're a daughter. You're an heir of Christ Your life has been purchased by the blood of Jesus. Do you believe that today? Listen, you've been saved. You've been forgiven You've been set free and commissioned as a missionary to be what salt and light He's called every single one of us to share the gospel to live on mission in a way that literally makes an impact in all Of eternity that's who God designed us to be and that's who God desires us to be And at the end of the day we can read that and believe that or we can throw it aside But I promise you when Jesus spoke these words It wasn't just for a couple of believers on a hillside 2,000 years ago He's talking to you and he's saying this is who you are This is who you should be and if you're trying to play both sides, guess what? You'll be worthless Fulfill your purpose make a difference But that starts with a fresh commitment that says every single day that God allows me to live I'm gonna live all in with him Listen are you living all in with Jesus? Does he have every part of who you are? Or is there something that you need to surrender today?

Listen let's not leave this place halfway in Let's go all in with him Imagine what this world would look like If Christians were salty Imagine what would happen in this world if Christians were were hiding light, but we were shining our light Jesus gave us an assignment here And he expects us to do it You believe that today? Hey, let's pray. Father today You've challenged us with your word Now I pray you'll mobilize our hearts Mobilize us to action Lord there's some of us today where there is something in our life that doesn't look like you And I pray that you would lead us to a place where we are willing to chip away those things That have no business being a part of our life Things that look like the culture of this world that don't look like the kingdom culture that you've called each one of us to Lord move us to action Drive us to our knees. I pray that you would give us a spirit of repentance and surrender one of confession one of Determination that that wants to follow you wants to be more like you wants to make an impact for your kingdom culture Well, thank you for calling us and including us in your family And I pray that if we know you today that will follow you today And I pray that as we follow you we will not be content until our lives look nothing like this world Lord for those who don't know you I pray that you would save their heart and save their soul today I pray that they'd be willing to make a bold stand and Take a new path of faith as they follow Jesus Understanding that you meet us at our point of need you want to change our hearts from the inside out and only you can do That Lord, I pray for that person who needs to come to faith in Christ that today would be their day It's in Jesus name. During my travels I've witnessed firsthand the struggle that many people face in obtaining something that many of us take for granted clean drinking water In numerous communities overseas clean water is very scarce. And that's why our ministry prioritizes Providing clean drinking water to those who have the greatest needs Last year, I led a team to Africa to commission a water well near Nairobi, Kenya And let me just tell you it was a joyous moment to see the clean water flowing and to see the smiles on the faces This year all in partnered with our friend pastor Brian Mills from Together We Church in Yukon, Oklahoma And he led a team to another community in Africa to commission our second water Well as a part of this project Brian shared how impactful it was to witness hope being spread among the people as they watch clean water flow from that well and really to see this impoverished community, this forgotten community be remembered in the name of Jesus. I want you to know that our mission is to provide clean water to communities in Africa and we're going to continue doing that for years and years to come. The need is immense and we are determined to continue providing pure water to as many poor communities as possible.
