00:004. Remember the day of Shabbat 5. But how do I do it exactly? 6. For six days you will do your work. 7. But the seventh day is a Shabbat for Yahweh, your Elohim. 8. You will not do any work in it. 9. Then comes a list of those who must honor the sanctity of this day of Shabbat. 10. They are you, your son, your daughter, your slave, your slave, your cattle, and the immigrant who is at your door. 11. There are seven. 12. Seven. 13. Of course. 14. Of course. 15. Seven is the Hebrew word Sheba, which is written with the same letters of the Hebrew word Saba, which means to fill or satisfy, to complete. 16. And what is the last line of the commandment? 17. Therefore Yahweh blessed the day of Shabbat, and he made it holy. 18. Of course. And this refers to Genesis 1. 19. Yes. We are reminded that in six days Yahweh made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them. 20. When God ordained the whole cosmos. 21. Yes. 22. He, in a way, was working. 23. Yes, of course. 24. God generates, moved by generous love, something that is not God, but that is entirely contained and sustained by God. 25. Each day begins with, And God said. Then God does or creates something. 26. And then the day ends with, And it was the afternoon, and it was the morning. 27. One, two, three, four, five, six. 28. And he rested on the seventh day. 29. The seventh day does not have that final phrase, And it was the afternoon, and it was the morning of the seventh day. 30. Yes. 31. It is a day that does not end. 32. It is the day that does not end. 33. This is a great day of unity, fullness, blessing, and participation in harmony and shalom.
02:2034. It is to enter into rest, into a state of rest within the generous love of God. 35. But what would happen if the road is so long? 36. Of course. When do we rest? 37. The universe. 38. When will it happen? 39. Exactly. 40. Can I schedule it? 41. Yes. The fourth commandment is that Israel must structure its daily rhythm of life according to that narrative line, 42. and then revive the whole history of the universe every week, 43. so that six days of work culminate in a seventh day of rest, 44. and they become a way of participating in the great history of what God is doing and has reserved for all creation. 45. I am an image of God. 46. I have been called to discover the vocation that God has for me and that he has put in me. 47. But our work is not everything. It is not what really determines the final course of this universe. 48. So I can stop and simply enjoy the good things that God has given me. 49. Wow. 50. Yes. 51. In Jewish tradition, as far as we know, the seventh day begins in what we call Friday at sunset, 52. so it goes from Friday to Saturday. 53. But then Jesus rose from the dead on Sunday, 54. Day one. 55. First day of the new week. 56. And that is a day of great importance because it marks the dawn of the new creation. 57. So the first Jewish communities that followed Jesus now had two days that they wanted to celebrate as saints. 58. And there were discussions about which day really honored God and it became a controversial issue. 59. But the apostle Paul saw all this coming and said, 60. Hey, some of you are going to consider different days as sacred and holy, surely referring to the Sabbath. 61. And he trusted that the Spirit of God would guide people and communities 62. so that they would make use of wisdom and honor the days they felt they should honor. 63. So this commandment is for us.
04:2664. Remember the Sabbath, consider it holy and be generous with each other as we follow Jesus. 65. Because I think what we all care about is the meaning of the Sabbath. 66. Of course. 67.
