You’ll Never Read “Jesus Wept” the Same Again | Mysteries in the Gospel of John Season 11

Many of us have heard the phrase before, Jesus wept. It's the shortest verse in the Bible, but do we think about the next verse? Yeshua of Nazareth is about to raise Lazarus from the dead. I'm in the Gospel of John, chapter 11, reading now verse number 33. When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, Mary was weeping because her brother had died, and the Jews came with her also weeping. He was deeply moved in spirit and was troubled, and said, where have you laid him? They said to him, Lord, come and see. The shortest verse in the Bible, Jesus wept. I just want to pause here for a second before we witness this incredible miracle through the pages of scripture. Jesus wept. He identified with Mary and Lazarus' friends who were weeping in their emotional suffering. Let this touch us for a moment. Jesus identifies with you emotionally. What was Lazarus' friends experiencing? They were experiencing grief to the point of tears, shedding tears and crying. What did Jesus do? He weeped and cried with them. Jesus is closer to you than your next breath. He feels what you're feeling and is touched by what you're feeling. He wants us to open up to him and let him in,

to recognize how much he loves us, how close to us he is, and how he is walking through life with us. He wants to be our burden bearer. He wants us to know that he's with us, we're not alone, and he identifies with you and I every second in what we're going through. Let's press on here. So the Jews were saying, listen to this, see how he loved him. Many of us have heard the phrase before, Jesus wept. Do we realize it's the shortest verse in the Bible? But do we think about the next verse? How did the Jews that saw Jesus weeping at Lazarus tomb, how did they respond to that? How did they interpret that? Because they were there, they knew what it meant. They were able to perceive what's going on, that Jesus is weeping. How did they interpret it? Listen. So the Jews were saying, see how he loved him. See how much Jesus loved Lazarus, that he's weeping with us about this. Again, it gets back to the point that I was just making. Jesus loves us so much more individually, personally, and sensitively than we can comprehend. And I think for us, it's a matter of faith. It's like, it's easy for us to quote the scripture,

God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. And we say, we believe that and we do, but we haven't yet opened up our heart to the revelation enough to realize how much he loves us presently, right where we're at. It's easy to believe that God loves us from heaven and he sent his only begotten son because he so loved the world. We believe that truth, it's kind of far away. God sent his son from heaven, that's easy. But to believe how much he loves us and cares about the pain that we're in right now, that takes a deeper ability to open up our heart to receive that love. I'm praying for it myself that the Lord will allow me to trust him enough, to believe in his love enough that I can open my heart right now to let him in, to experience his weeping for me right now in my pain. I remember I was calling out to the Lord some time ago about some things I was going through. I think it had to do with a physical challenge that I was facing. And I just like didn't understand, like why Lord are you letting me experience this physical challenge, you know? I've been dealing with this thing for two years. I mean, why? Help me to know that you're with me in this, Lord. Help me to know how much you love me because it doesn't, I'm having a hard time.

Help me to know. And as a leader, I carry a lot of pain. You know, when you're a leader, you're on the front lines. It's just like an enemy on the battlefield. When you're the first troop into the battlefield, you know, you're the first one to experience the enemy's fire. And the enemy wants to take you out. The enemy's going after you as a leader. It's no joke. There's a fight going on in the atmosphere around us. The powers of darkness and our hostility. down towards the powers of light. And so when you're on the front end of this thing, Satan wants to take you out. So I was dealing with this physical struggle, this pain that I was dealing with physically, and just dealing with what I experienced in the spiritual world, because I'm a leader in the kingdom on earth right now, not because of who I am, it's just the call of God in my life. And so I was dealing with this stuff. I was praying, Lord, help me to know how much you're with me, how much you love me, because I feel sometimes like I'm going through this alone. And so I'd been praying this prayer a few days, and then all of a sudden, I get an email from somebody.

And the email said to me this, he said, Rabbi, after I dropped you off one day at the airport, I had this sense in my heart of, you know, that you're somebody that God has called me to stand with in life, but I also had this sense that you go through a lot of grief and a lot of pain. And he said, and I had this dream last night, he said to me, and in this dream, you were pouring out your heart to me, just un-opening up your heart and pouring out all your grief. And I just stood there and listened, and it was so much, and you just kept on pouring it out. You wanted me to understand all that you carry. And he said, I just wanted to write to you today to let you know, Rabbi, I am with you. I love you, and I'll never do anything to cause you or your family grief or pain. But get this now, I'm calling out the Lord to show me you're with me in this grief and this pain that I'm experiencing. And the next morning, I get the email from this guy, and he said, you were pouring out your heart to me, all your grief and all that you deal with. And I want you to know, Rabbi, I am with you. I am with you in everything that you go through, and I'll never cause you any grief or pain. It was like, God showed me, I am with you in your grief and pain.

So when Lazarus wept, when Jesus rather wept with the people that were weeping because of Lazarus's death, and the Jewish people that were around said, see how he loved him. What this says to us, beloved children of God, is that the Lord is with you when you're weeping. Whatever you're dealing with, maybe it's a loved one that you really care about that's dealing with sickness or pain or something that a loved one is going through that just is causing you to cry, just like Mary and Martha were crying because of their loved one having passed away. Whatever it is, maybe it's a child that you're experiencing great grief about because of something that they're going through. And you're feeling almost like you're crying about it. Jesus feels you and he weeps with you. And why does he weep with you? Because, beloved child of God, he loves you. But some of them said, picking up in verse 37, could not this man who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man also from dying? So Jesus, again, being deeply moved within, came to the tomb. Now, let's just think about this. Some are weeping, but others were, you know, they're like, this is like the two worlds that we live in. And it's also the choice

that you and I need to make every day. We either can come into agreement with God, come into agreement with truth, and have faith and believe that Jesus loves us, even though we're living in a world where people are dying and experiencing pain. You know, it's a messy place. We can either believe in this messy world that Jesus loves us, that he really cares, that he's with us in our pain, or we can become like these others that become hardened who said, could not this man who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man also from dying? So they used it as an accusation against Jesus. And that's true. I just want you to get this for a second. You and I in life, we're gonna have times where we're gonna either say, Lord, I believe you love me. I believe that you feel for me in your love right now. You're with me, that you're gonna give breakthrough here. We can either go that direction and go into the trajectory of believing in God's love, or we can let the enemy seep in and get a spirit of accusation against Jesus and God. And a lot of people go on the side of saying, when they see things happening in the world that are hard, rather than still believing that God is love and he cares and he's here, and so what they do when they see things hard

is they accuse God. A lot of people even say that they don't believe in God and their excuse is that God allows hardship in the world. How many times have people lost their faith because a loved one died? And they say, well, I don't believe in God because if God was real, he wouldn't have let my mother suffer. He wouldn't have let my father die. He wouldn't have let those people in a third world country suffer. And so that's the choice that you and I need to make every day. And sometimes it's a battle. We have to resist Satan that wants to bring an accusation against God in our hearts. Do you guys get me, friends? I hope you get me. I hope this isn't just, no, this is real. The enemy is always standing at the door of our heart and knocking. And he wants to put a seed of accusation in our heart against God. He wants us to get mad at God because God didn't do something the way we thought he should do it. Just like these that said, could not this man have kept Lazarus from dying? It was an accusation. So some of them said,

could not this man who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man also from dying? It was an accusation. And so you and I need to guard our hearts that when we're tempted to get mad at God because he didn't do what we thought he should do. You see, these Jews were upset because they didn't think Jesus done, did what they thought he should have done. And the enemy, listen, please understand the importance of this. When you and I walk through life, Satan is right there. He's looking for an opportune time to enter into your heart. Let's make the decision when Satan wants to bring an accusation against God in our heart, when we don't understand something, when something doesn't seem right, when something doesn't seem fair, let's not get into an accusation and get bitter against God. But let's instead remember the story that when Lazarus died and his friends wept, Jesus saw it and so entered into their pain. With humility, he wept too. He cares about you, my beloved child and friend. He cares about you. And he weeps when you weep for you. Let's trust him. Father, give us the power to open up our hearts to trust in your present love. Lord, help us to know you're a friend

that sticks closer than a brother. Help us to receive how present you are. Father, help me. Help us all to open our hearts to receive your presence and your love by faith right now. Help us to trust you, Lord, to trust in your love, to open our hearts and receive it. Open my heart, Lord. Yeshua said, I stand at the door of your heart and knock. You've heard that verse before in the book of Revelation, where Jesus says, behold, I stand at the door of your heart and knock. And if any man opens, I'll come in and sup with him and he with me. Many of us have heard that scripture used before in reference to a salvation call. Someone, a preacher preaches a message, come to Jesus that he's standing at the door of your heart knocking and if you'll open up and receive him, you'll be saved. It's a great message for salvation. But it's more than that because Jesus is always knocking at the door of our heart, wanting to come in. Listen. Deeper. Every day, church, every day, he's knocking on the door of our soul and he's wanting us to open, to trust in his love, to feel safe that we can open up to him

and trust in his love. Oh, how great we would feel, how blessed we would be if we could fully open up to you. Help me, help us all to open up fully to trust in your present love, to fear nothing and no one, God. So we continue on. We're not gonna get on the side of accusation, we're gonna get on the side of faith, believing in God's love. Next verse. So Jesus, again, being deeply moved within, came to the tomb. He came through. He's gonna come through for you and me all the time, every day. Now it was a cave and a stone was lying against it. Jesus said, remove the stone. Martha, the sister of the deceased, said to him, Lord, by this time there'll be a stench for he has been dead four days. Jesus said to her, did I not say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God? Again, notice the natural mind versus the supernatural. She's concerned about the stench, right? Jesus doesn't reply to her concern about the stench, but he takes her up to glory and he says, did I not say to you that if you believe, you'll see the glory of God? He's operating at a higher plane.

He's not focusing on the. Stench sees operating at a higher plane. There's the plane flying over it again, right? There's a sign right you can receive it God wants to lift us up and take us to the higher level not focusing on what's going on on the ground Not focusing on what's going on in the natural world, but raising us up He's the resurrection on the life to focus on the supernatural Heavenly ascended reality Did I not say to you that if you believe you'll see the glory of God before I move on to the miracle I just want you to consider this How will we see the glory of God? How will you and I? Get breakthrough in our life. The key is right here believe Jesus said Did I not say to you? That if you believe you will see the glory of God if you want to see and I want to see the glory of God And what is the glory of God? The glory of God is the weight of God. It's it's his kavod It's the weightiness of his presence When Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead BAM the weight of the present glory of God fell upon them all If you want to experience the weight of God's presence and manifest power on your soul and on your life You know what the key is Believe don't let Satan in believe praise him every day Worship him every day. Tell him you believe him. Tell him you love him Tell him you believe in your love quote scripture declare scripture use scripture as a weapon against the enemy Keep moving forward declaring the glory of God declaring the truth of God's Word in your life moving forward use God's Word against your circumstances use God's Word against the power of darkness and you will see a Breakthrough and you will experience my beloved friends the glory of God Did I not say to you that if you believe you'll see the glory of God so they remove the stone Then Yeshua raised his eyes Father I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you hear me always but because of the people standing around I said it So they may believe that you sent me

When he had said these things he cried out in a loud voice Lazarus Lazarus come forth The man who had died came forth bound hand and foot with wrappings and his face was wrapped around in a cloth Yeshua said to them Unbind him and let him go Therefore many of the Jews who came to Mary and saw what he had done Believed in him, but some of them went to the Pharisees and told them the things Which Jesus had done and what we're gonna see next is a conspiracy to kill Jesus Wow beloved Jesus lived on the edge I Mean he was right at the front of the battlefield doing miracles breaking through the forces of darkness Raising the dead healing the sick Casting out devils and declaring the glory of the kingdom of God, which has broken in But it's not fully manifest yet. I want to experience. Let's live together with Yeshua on the cutting edge Even if you're not able to be out and about maybe you're old Maybe you're 90 years old Even if you're not about on the cutting edge you can in terms of what you're able to do in the physical world You can still do it beloved through your prayers You can still do it in the spirit believe for breakthrough pray for God's people pray for the Saints pray for the expansion Of the kingdom of love and the kingdom of God in the earth beloved. I want to encourage you today believe Jesus Love God Pray for God's people step out in faith be a bold witness Lay your hands on people pray for the sick do the works of Jesus God is with you and as you believe and obey my beloved friends You're going to see the glory of God just like Mary Martha and Lazarus did God bless you and amen in the book of Numbers chapter 6 the Lord gave instructions to Moses and Aaron to speak this
