You Can't Live On Empty // Mathew 4:4 // Bianca Juarez // Dying to Live Series
What are you feeding your soul?
In Week Three of our “Dying to Live” series, “You Can’t Live on Empty,” we discover three
essential nutrients for a healthy Christian life: God’s Word, God’s people, and God’s praise.
It’s possible to fill our schedules, stomachs, bank accounts, and relationships while our souls
remain empty. Spiritual snacks may sustain us temporarily, but they cannot produce lasting
strength or transformation. We need daily dependence on Jesus—the Bread of Life.
The Word forms us. Community strengthens us. Worship reorients us. And together, they lead
us back to Jesus.
Don’t simply admire the menu. Come hungry, take your seat at the table, and allow God to fill
you.
Scriptures: Matthew 4:4, Hebrews 5:12–14, Romans 12:1–2, Hebrews 4:12, 1 Thessalonians
5:11, and John 6:35.

first time or if you are watching online, welcome. We're so glad that you're here. Go ahead and grab a seat. Welcome to church this morning. I'm so excited that we are continuing on in a series entitled Dying to Live. Dying to Live. Now, if you've missed the last couple weeks, no worries. I'm glad that you're here. I'm gonna catch you up a little bit because we're gonna talk about this this idea and this concept of dying to self but from a different lens in a different filter. So to catch everyone up, in week one, we focused on death to self. Death to self. And then week two, it was death from self. We got to put ourself in the grave. We got to put ourself in the casket. Pastor Micon walked us through that and I was convicted. I said, I got to die the pettiness. Lord, no. And then this week, I'm out here to tell myself, tell the truth, the shame, the devil, but then this week I want to take a look at death of self. Stay with me. I am seeing a generation of people spiritually starving themselves and then wondering why they're feeling weak, feeble, and ineffectual. Wondering why they're facing the same struggles, strongholds, and addictions. And let me tell you very clearly, it's because many of us are living on empty. If you have a car with an empty gas tank, you're not moving. If you have an empty bank account, guess what? You're not moving. If you have a empty soul, guess what? You are not moving. Even Jesus addressed this in John chapter 4, excuse me, Matthew chapter 4 verse 4, he said this, "But Jesus told them, 'No, the Scriptures say people do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" Now, stay with me. Jesus wasn't saying that spiritual food doesn't matter. He was exposing a much deeper need, a need that I believe we still face today and that need is. Yes, you could feed your body and still starve your soul. And a starving soul eventually makes desperate choices. If you're a note taker, I want you to put your Bible, your highlight, your pin, your notebook, and I want you to jot down the title of today's word.
You can't live on empty. I'm going to tell you something right now. I'm going to maybe go a little bit of science today and a little bit of food today, but I believe it will make sense. Why am I passionate about this? Well, four years ago, after feeling years of sickness, my hair was falling out, my cortisol was through the roof, I wasn't sleeping, I decided that it was time to take my life back. So I went through this whole health journey to undo and then rebuild my view of food and my view of my body. Now, part of this journey was discovering that food was not my enemy and food was not my emotional support pal. My unhealthy coping mechanism in stress is turning to food. And some people turn to pornography or sex or addiction or shopping. For me, I turn to cool ranch Doritos, flaming hot Cheetos, and any form of ice cream. Do I have any family members in here? Bless our hearts. Clap now, I'm coming for your neck later, all right? I share this because healing wasn't cutting away food. It was figuring out how to eat the right food to fill full. Why does this matter? Because many of us are pining and aching and making poor decisions because we're living empty. In a culture of excess, we fear empty. We fear an empty bank account. We fear an empty stomach. We panic an empty bed. And as a pastor, I'm concerned that we aren't really acknowledging the effects of an empty soul. So yeah, you could fill your bank account, you could fill your bed, you could fill your stomach. But are we intentionally feeding our souls with the right thing? Let me go back to Matthew 4-4. It's on the screen. People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. Okay, like I said, I just need you to stay with me for a second. We're going to get a little bit sciencey, but I don't want to lose you. Stay with me. In my journey of food and healing, I discovered something that nutrition is called
macronutrients. Macronutrients are essential to your body's health and thriving. And if you're sitting here thinking, did I wake up early and come to church to talk about food? Girl, I'm trying to stay saved. I'm trying to stay out of her bed. I'm trying to stay out of my neighbor's face. I'm trying to stay saved and sober. I can't put down the crack pipe or the blood. What are you talking about macronutrients? Stay with me. Because I firmly believe, I firmly believe as I'm looking at these parallels, stay with me. I firmly believe that I want to share if you apply them to your life. So, macronutrients provide energy and sustained life. Micro nutrients are calories, but they don't build upon to make you stronger. So, if I eat a delicious steak with some sauteed broccolini and some sweet potatoes, seasoned with the tea, sweet potatoes, yes, guess what? The protein is building my muscles and the broccolini is giving me fiber and the sweet potatoes is giving me complex carbohydrates and my body is cleansed and my body is fueled. If I eat a corn dog, flaming hot Cheetos and my ice cream fix, I'm consuming macronutrients that might eat well the same amount of calories, but they don't have the same effect to my body. Does that make sense? Yes. So, in short, we could survive off of micronutrients, but we cannot thrive without macronutrients. We need protein, we need complex carbs, we need fats. And yes, people can debate portions
or diet styles, Cheetos and intermittent fasting. We could decide, divide and discuss all of that, but what everyone, every nutritionist will agree is that you need it to have the macronutrients for sustained life. And here's something that's strange about us. We are careful about what enters our body while ignoring what enters our soul. So, we say things like, I'm so hungry, I haven't eaten today, while not even addressing that you haven't fed yourself spiritually, you haven't opened up the Bible. You're like, oh wow, I haven't connected with my workout partner, I haven't hit the gym or I haven't seen my best friend, but you don't even recognize that you haven't been to church in four weeks. We're talking about, I'm feeling so isolated and alone, but yet you're not putting yourself in environments surrounded by God's people. You notice when your heart is empty and to feel that you don't go to the people of God or the word of God, you go to entertainment, you go to social media, you go to workouts, you go to friends, you go to drinking, you go to whatever it is. So, today I wanna speak to the person who has ignored the emptiness of their soul. I wanna speak to the person who eggs for more. And he doesn't feel it and she doesn't feel it and food doesn't feel it and money doesn't feel it.
So, today, as I study this week and I see people dying, not the sense of dying that I'm talking about, they're spiritually dying. I sat and I'm like, I know what macronutrient has done to me and I'm like, the Bible is full of nutrients so that you can live. And so, I was weeding through, I'm like, what? If I could whittle this down, the most important thing, Pastor Mekon said that it's death to self and we put ourself in the casket, but then my fear is, how now shall we live? What does that look like practically? So, today, I'm gonna put the cookies on the lower shelf. Today, I'm just gonna be very, very practical. I wanna talk, whoever that is that laughs at my jokes, I love you, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, I love you, girl. I love you, yes, yes, VIP. So, we'll give her some free church merch, okay? She thinks I'm funny, yes. She filled with the spirit of God, follow her lead, okay? Just kidding. Today, hold on, I'm serious, I'm gonna pass her now, okay. Today, I wanna talk about the core essentials. What I would describe as macronutrients, not Christian accessories, not to do's, but what nourishes our soul? If you're a note-taker, I want you to jot down God's word. A macronutrient is God's word, you got to eat. Jesus said, people do not live by bread alone. So, the language, notice the language,
you brought your Bible on you to circle, lived, because God's word isn't simply about information to download its nourishment. The Bible isn't a book that you're supposed to finish. I read through Genesis, through Revelation, I'm done. No, it's food that you're supposed to consume and grow from, it feeds your soul. Excuse me, I'm feeling a little under the weather. Can somebody give us a drink? Okay, thank you. So, the thing, hold on. Sorry. What happens when we don't eat? So, let's think about some signs and symptoms. When we're hungry and we don't eat, you first get, or when you're starving and you don't eat, the first thing that you get is hungry. Then you might experience hangry, that is hunger and angry at the same time, a little hangry, you know, and then your energy wanes and then you find yourself satisfying yourself with micronutrients. Your body starts demanding whatever is easiest. The cookies, the chips, the donuts in the break room, 'cause it's easy, it's right there. The same thing happens with our spirituality. The micronutrients of the spiritual quote that you saw on Instagram, that minister to your soul. It was so good, it was so good. You screen-shotted it, and then you sent it to your friend
and you're like, look what the Lord is telling me to tell you. You didn't even digest it. You just copied and pasted that. The micronutrient of-- the micronutrient of a random podcast that somebody sent you while you're listening halfheartedly at the gym. See, if you stay hungry long enough, you'll eat things you don't normally eat. And the same is true spiritually. Oh yeah, it will subside your hunger, but it will not give you what you need to thrive. Hold on. When you neglect God's word, your soul will not stop meeting the truth. We just start looking for the truth elsewhere. When you neglect God's word, when we neglect the macronutrients of God's word, we will settle for micronutrients. And the world loves to feed you. Who loves a little sweet treat after dinner? The world will love to give you a sweet treat. Social media would love to give you a sugar high and then a crash. Oh yeah, yeah, politics and culture. They love to feed you the fat of sexuality. Oh, and that's not it. Your fears feed you, your friends feed you, your emotions feed you, your past feeds you, and eventually you begin to believe the things
simply because you have consumed them repeatedly. What you eat shapes you, both physically and spiritually, and at this church, at Revere, we revere the word of God and we teach you every single week because we know the power that the word of God has over our minds and over our lives. But this word cannot just be on Sundays and you cannot not eat for the rest of the week. Oh, I got full on Sunday. I sat at the bank-witting table of God and I left full, but then you starve all week. Can you imagine if the same was true if you ate physically only one meal a week? You could probably live, but you're not going to thrive. You're not going to be healthy. You'll starve, you won't grow, you'll be malnourished. And this is why the writer of Hebrews, I believe Paul or somebody who studied under Paul, he wrote to the Hebrews with this truth. And he's not coming for new believers. If you're here and you're new in your faith journey with the Lord, I love that. Early beginnings, we are for you. We want to give you resources and disciple you and get you into community groups. But the writer of Hebrews, he's coming for the neck of people who've been following the Lord for a long time. This is what he says.
Or she, recent scholarship says it might be Priscilla as in Priscilla and Aquila, which would be a woman writer. Hello, okay. So, Hebrews 5-12 says this. You have been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. You've been in church for 14 years. You've known the Lord for 20 years. You've been coming to revere since it started for over a year and a half. Instead, you need someone to teach you again, the basics about the word of God. Don't gossip. Don't be a jerk. Don't lie. I'm talking to people, the writer of Hebrews is talking to people. I'm talking to people who have been in a church for a really long time. Instead, you need someone to teach you again, the basic things about God's word. You're like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food. For someone who lives on milk is still an infant and doesn't know to do what is right. Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong. The truth is,
is that it's really weird for me to be drinking out of a bottle. And at first, you guys thought it was a joke and thought it was funny, but the more that I did it, you said nothing. Like, well, maybe she hates that. (audience laughing) But the truth of the matter is, is that it's weird that I'm drinking out of bottle because I'm too old. What's weird is that I have full-grown teeth to help me digest food, I don't need this. But because of our inability to mature and always look for an easy route, we will always be satisfied with milk rather than meat. Milk is easier. (audience applauding) And as weird as that is, you know what's weird? You've been serving the Lord for 12 years and you're rude to your coworkers. You know what's weird? Your soul has been fed here for months and for weeks and for years and you're not serving anyone else. You know what's weird? You've loved the Lord for a really long time, but you love to talk trash about people. That's weird. Romans 12.2 says this, "Do not be conformed to the world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. How do we renew our minds?"
The Word of God. God's Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. It is a map. When we feel lost, we go to the Word of God for our directions. Now Pastor Mekon, who is not here today, always says, "Bianca, you give people too much information." Okay? And I'm like, "Um, yes, but when people come to..." I want you to leave full. So I'm going to give you a lot. And I don't care because he's not here. And I'm going to ask him for his opinion later. And I'm like, but they loved it, okay? So here's my hesitation. This should be a whole sermon in itself, but I love you so much. And I know what the word of God has done for me. And if I have one hill to die on, it's that if you dive into the word of God, it is a mere that reflects the reality of who you are and gives you ways to change. Why would I gate keep that from you? So I'm going to show you what I do in my daily reading, okay? Now you don't have to do it, but you might be inspired to make it your own. Number one, if you haven't taken any notes, I want you to take notes now because this is a separate little bubble study. Don't worry, it's fast. Number one, open the word of God.
It's easy, right? Now for me, I just finished the book of Proverbs this week. So number two, we read it. So number one, open the Bible. Number two, read it. For me, it's one chapter a day. Number three, meditate on it. What is one thing that jumped out at me? The word meditate comes and gives us a visual of a cau chewing cud. Meditate on the word of God. Now for me, I've read through the book of Proverbs. I've been a believer for a really long time. So I've read through the book of Proverbs a number of times. But every time that I read it, I don't want to just read it and be done with it. I want the word of God to change me. So after reading that chapter, I'm like, what stood out to me? So I'm gonna read a verse, we're gonna do this together on what does it look like to meditate? Proverbs 4.23, since I just finished Proverbs, I'll show you what I do. Verse 4.23 says this. Above all else, pause for the cause. Above my financial issues, above my personal issues, above my work to do list, above my emails, above my meetings, above my workouts, above all else. What do I do? Guard my heart. Now, if something stands out about a scripture,
circle it and ask yourself why? I found it interesting that the scripture said guard, not babysit, not predict your heart, heal your heart. No, no, it said guard. And if you want to be crazy and be a biblical baddie, get a concordance or a little chat GBT and look at the original language, because if you look at the original language, the word guard is like a military like buck up, size up, armored guard. To be that protected over my heart, but it's not talking about my organ, it's talking about the seat of my emotion, my will, my issues. Above all else, guard my heart, protect the place of my emotions, my desires and my will, for everything you do flows from it. In my meetings, in my emails, in my workouts, in my interactions, in my relationships, guess what? If my heart is jacked up, it'll make itself evident in all other areas. Those one verse, five minutes. I don't care what you do, but spend time in the word of God. So number one, open it. Number two, read it. Number three, meditate on it. Number four, we submit to it.
God, if you say to guard my heart, that's what I'm gonna do. And lastly, we obey it. If there's a warning or an application or a truth, I obey it. I allow the word of God to confront me. No matter what I feel, no matter what I believe, if it's contrary to the word of God, I have to confront the pain of being obedient to the word of God. That's how you read the Bible. And if Pastor Mekon says, was it a lot, tell him no, you loved it. Okay, great, great, great. So here's the challenging part. Don't merely read the Bible for something to make you feel better. Sometimes the word of God should comfort you. Sometimes the word of God should confront you. Sometimes the word of God should expose your pride. Sometimes the word of God should challenge your bitterness. Sometimes the word of God can interrupt your plan. Sometimes the word of God can reveal to you that your attitude, your disposition, your comportment is wrong. Sometimes the word of God will patch you on the back and sometimes the word of God will put your finger on your heart and say repent. That is the power of the word of God. That's why Hebrews 4, 12 says this. For the word of God is alive and powerful.
It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cut in between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires, meaning we don't simply read scripture. Scripture reads us. So ask yourself, what are you feeding yourself every morning? Before the Bible, are you checking Instagram and TikTok? Before the Bible, are you checking your work emails? Before listening to the voice of God, are you listening to the voice of others? while treating God's word like a Sunday appetizer. Eat daily, 'cause your soul needs God's word every day. The second macronutrient, if you will, is God's people. Here's what you're gonna hear me say. You need people to live a full and enriched life. Here's what you're gonna hear me admit. I don't like doing that. As a pastor, I should be like, oh yes, involve the people of God in your life or whatever, but the truth is, I've been let down by people. I've been hurt by people. I've been betrayed by people. And my story is different than yours, but it's similar, 'cause life is gonna life and people are gonna people. You're gonna be let down by people, you're gonna be betrayed by people. And it's in those small, subtle ways that you don't expect it. Their trust has been broken. Maybe you've been betrayed.
People will say, hey, I'm here and I'm supporting you and I'll be with you on this journey of healing. And then they walk out. Maybe it's a spouse or a business partner that said yes, I believe in you and a build with you. And then you find yourself confused and alone. And I understand why people find it hard to get close to people. But nowhere in scripture is isolation advocated for long durations. Nowhere in scripture does it say, you will be fruitful if you live alone. And this idea of living just me and Jesus, it sounds spiritual, but it's not biblical. And maybe you're sitting here like, well, I've seen people be isolated. Yeah, Jesus, all right? So if you can turn water into wine, guess what? Go ahead and go to the desert for 40 days and fast, right? You guys, that was funny. I said it in first service and they didn't laugh either. I was, I actually, it's none of my notes when I thought about that 'cause it was funny. So Jesus, Moses, and Paul, they all went isolated into the desert, but all of them came back on the assignment to serve God's people. So if you are isolated or you're taking a break from church, the expectation is that you come back, ready to pour out, pour out, pour out, and pour out.
And through times of isolation, have the Lord fill your cup. Maybe you need a week off, no problem, ain't no judgment in that, but ask yourself why? Because in the New Testament, if we wanna wrap some theology around this, in the New Testament, we constantly see this phrase, one another, one another, all throughout scripture, love one another, encourage one another, bless one another, forgive one another, bear each other's burdens, pray for one another, serve one another, confess to one another, build up one another, and you cannot obey the one another if you're isolated and alone. Yes. So this is where the macro nutrient illustration becomes uncomfortable. Because in the same way that your body needs protein and carbs and fats, your soul needs relationships so that your faith is tangible. Because sometimes you need someone to pray for you when you don't have the strength to pray. Sometimes you need somebody to say, I'm gonna stand and believe with you when you've lost your ability to stand and believe. Sometimes you need somebody to say, you're wrong. Sometimes you need somebody to say, don't give up. Sometimes you need somebody to tell you God is still faithful. Sometimes you need somebody to sit with you and silence in the grief so you don't do it alone. And sometimes, sometimes you need to be
that person for someone else. Oh, I'm not getting my needs met there. Maybe it's time that you meet the needs of someone else in this season. See, and this is a problem. There's this big onus on church. Like, community is supposed to make me comfortable and have fun. That's maybe what a sports club is for, but let's get very clear about what the Bible says. Biblical community makes us accountable and that is much harder. That's much harder. It's easy to attend church and be unknown. It's easy to come in late, sit in the back and leave during closing prayer. It's easy to shake hands and smile while no one ever knows your heart. It's possible to sit in a sanctuary surrounded by hundreds of people and feel isolated and alone. And that's easy. My invitation to you is to not simply occupy one room, but follow what Jesus says. And that's for us to be one body together. And I want to tell you, I have been let down in the church. I have been let down by people in the church. I have been let down by Christian leaders in the church. But I know what the word of God says, that I will be transformed through his word, through his presence and with his people.
So I have to learn how to trust again. And now I have to ask you, who knows the real condition of your soul? Who can ask you difficult questions? who can identify if you've been drifting from Christ like, hey, where are you at? I don't know, you're here, but you're not here. And if the answer is nobody, don't call it independence, it's starving. And Paul gives us this micronutrient out of this macronutrient out of first Thessalonians 511. He says, so encourage each other and build each other up just as you are already doing. So whether you like it or not, you need people and people need you. And I say this as admitting that this is my hardest one. And since this is my spiritual weakness, I've decided that I need to double down in this area. So I am reading a book called People Fueled by Dr. John Townsend. It's phenomenal. But in order for it just to not be academic, it has to be practical. I've actually in a leadership community group, and I'm there with five people I don't know, and I'm expected to be vulnerable. And I looked around and I literally said this last week, I was like, I don't know if I can trust you. But the only way that we are going to transform is if we come to the table with our honesty, with our vulnerability, and understand that humans are going to human. Our faith is not in him or in her. Our faith is in the Lord. And so if we're willing to serve and we're willing to heal, guess what? The Lord will meet you there. And you know what? This community group isn't just for me. The invitation is for you. Today, you can walk out of this church and you can sign up for community groups which launch in two weeks. And even our online family, guess what? We know that we are beyond just Orange County. If you want to be an online community group, there's a community group for you too. Lastly, if you are in God's Word and you're surrounded with good community, but you still feel like you're running on empty, this is what I believe is the last crucial element to growth. God's praise. Sometimes a thing that we need to do to reorient our heart, to reorient our mind, to heal from the hurt, to get right with God, to confess our trespasses is to have a little bit of a praise party. Now, there's a lot of things that I could have said. You know, I thought about like it's the micronutrient about Sabbath because I really believe in Sabbath and I believe that biblical rest will heal us. But if you're in God's Word, then you'll learn about Sabbath. And then I thought about what about stewardship, stewardship of our body and stewardship of our time stewardship of our finances. But if you read God's Word, you'll see that. Worship, I believe,
giving God praise, reorients our heart and gives credit and honor and focus on the one who this is about. Romans 12 1 says this presents your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Notice what Paul doesn't say. He doesn't say that worship is singing. Worship is so much bigger than music. Worship is surrender. It's a reorienting of our lives, not my will. Your will be done. And here's the truth. This is wildly important because we as humans, we are created to worship. So the question isn't, are you worshiping? The question is what? Who are you worshiping? What has captured your worship? Because your career, your finances, you could worship that. You could worship your kids. You could worship your money. You could worship your accolades. You could worship your influence. You could worship ministry. Yeah. Yeah. You can. You can worship comfort. You can worship politics. You could worship success. And here's the danger. You can do Christian things. Well, in your heart, you're worshiping something other than Jesus Christ. You could sing songs about Jesus and still long for people's approval. You could preach Jesus while still worrying about your reputation. You could serve Jesus while secretly wanting recognition. You could attend a church service talking about sacrifice, raising hands, what really what you want is comfort. Where are my things and who are my people and what am I going to get and do I like the worship? Wait, wait, wait. Worship isn't simply what happens on the Sunday morning. Worship is what happens in our heart when we encounter God and we realize you are worthy. You are worthy. You are worthy of it all. Worship reminds us who he is. He is holy. He is sovereign. He is good. He is faithful. He is loving. He's merciful. He's just. He's kind. He is worthy. You have forgiven me. You have loved me. You have cleansed me. You provided for me. You protected me. You are worthy of my praise. You are worthy of my attention. You are worthy of my affection. I give you all of me. I am a living sacrifice. Pulse that I pour myself out like a drink offering. Every day at the end of the day we should be like I ran my race And when we croissed, wow, Jesus croissed, sorry. If that is our posture, that should produce worship, not casual appreciation. Thank you, Jesus. No, no, I give you my all. So the picture of the Christian life, if we make it into a daily nutrition plan
is the word of God, which feeds us its truth, the community of God, which ministers us and helps us grow. It's like fertilizer in our ground and worship. I respond to God in surrender and notice, notice how they all work together. They all work together. The word without worship becomes information. We can know the Bible and still have a cold heart. That's why we always set time for worship before the word. And then the word prepares us to worship. Does it make sense? Yes, but worship without the word can become a motion without truth. I feel alive, God, chill bumps, God is good, but you have no idea of who God is. Community without word and worship can be social connection without spiritual transformation. But together, the word forms us and community strengthens us and worship reorients us in all three points to Jesus. This is about Jesus. So now let me make this personal. What if your spiritual frustration or your spiritual exhaustion isn't because God has abandoned you? What if you've been questioning God while spiritually starving and saying, God's not speaking to me, but you haven't opened his word. You've been hurt by people, but you don't want to give people another chance. You're asking, oh, I don't feel close to God, but I don't want to go to church,
or I don't want to be around church people. Please hear me. This is not condemnation. This is an invitation. Come to this table. There's a seat for you. There's food for you, and there's community for you, and there's a worship for you. And most importantly, there's Jesus. And today, I'm proud of you. You showed up online or you're in this room, and you came to the table, and I'm so glad that you're here. But my fear and the danger in a sermon like this is that we could say, oh, that sounds good. You could write down three points, and you could be like, mmm, that's delicious. That smells good. But then you go home spiritually unchanged. But here at my restaurant, here at Jesus's table, I don't want you to walk in starving and then leave hungry. Don't admire the menu. Please eat it. This is why the Psalmist says, taste and see that God is good. But you won't know how good He is until He meets you in your moment of deepest need. The word of God has been my anchor in the storms of life. The word of God has been my friend as I cry myself to sleep in the loneliness of dark nights. The word of God has given me wisdom on how to walk rightly. I mean, amidst a dark world, the word of God
has given me faith to believe for people, or my family, or myself. I want you to know the word of God. And exercise it in community, and worship God, and ultimately, ultimately, the illustration breaks down in the best possible way. Because Jesus doesn't merely give us spiritual food. Jesus says He is food. So we're going to put this into practice. I'm going to invite everyone. Will you do me a favor? Will you stand to your feet? Because today, we're not just going to talk or preach about it. We're actually going to exercise it. John 635 says, whoever declares, I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. The deepest need of the human soul isn't better discipline. It's not three ways and five tips. None of the greatest thing that we could give back unto the Lord is worship. Not more Bible knowledge or spiritual activity. Our deepest need is Jesus Christ Himself. So from that place church, as I invite the worship team, come on, I want us to be led in worship today. I want us to put into practice what it looks like for the word to prepare us to worship. The lyrics are on the screen. I want no excuses as to why you're not singing. Is He worthy?
Is He worthy? Is He worthy, church? If He's worthy, then put your voice on it. I want you to crack open heaven with your praise. I want hell to hear you and be afraid. I want demons of darkness and devils and dominions to shaking power, because the people of God are giving worship to the King of Kings and the Lord of Lord. He's worthy, you got a job, he's worthy. You're single, he's worthy. You're married, he's worthy. You're divorced, he's worthy. You're broken, you're sick, you're needy, he's worthy. He's worthy. Will you raise your voice? Lord, you are what we want. In this community, will you take our praise? Will you speak to us? You are worthy of our praise to you, be the glory. Amen, amen, amen, let's worship church. ♪ Here we go ♪
