Yes And Amen
God's promises are true, according to His Word, says Pastor Livingston. Since God cannot lie, we must wait patiently for our prayers to be answered. He said He will do it in His appointed time. The answer will come because His promises are 'Yes' and 'Amen.'

All Your words are, oh, we have been so good to bless. All Your words are, oh, we have been so good to bless. All Your words are, oh, we have been so good to bless. Amen. That is a very fitting song for what the Lord has laid on my heart today to give to you. I want you to read with me right now, 2 Corinthians chapter 1 verse 20. Does everyone see it, everybody see it over in the FLC, in the other places? Can you see it? Read it with me. For all the promises of God in Him are, yes, and in Him, amen, to the glory of God through us. I want this to sink in today. I want you to hear what the Lord is saying to us, all the promises of God, every single one, are in Christ Jesus, yes, and in Christ Jesus, amen. That is to the glory of God through us. I thank you now, Lord, for the opportunity to gather together with my family, a small part of our family, a family of God. And today you have chosen and appointed people to be in these pews to hear this message right
now. You know what is in the heart of every person standing here, or watching me on screen. And you are going to speak to every one of us today, and I thank you for it. So Lord, we receive your word with meekness and gladness and in faith. In Jesus' name we pray, amen. Everybody said amen. Thank you for being seated. I can't put my finger on it, but several years ago I developed something in my life that I never thought would happen to me. I became very anxious. I don't know the circumstances, I don't know all of the factors in this equation. I just know that I started having a lot of anxiety. I got to where I did not want to go to bed because I knew in just a couple of hours if I did go to sleep I would wake up with a sick panic, almost a fear. Because I would wake up and feel so lonely. [BLANK_AUDIO] for a spiritual leader to say to his flock, "But I am a man," and I'm talking to people. And I am wrestling just like you are. I have asked the Lord to help me with this, and what you learn to do is function anyway. You just carry on. You can be in a crowd and be lonely. You can sit up in the middle of the night and feel like you're going to throw up. And then that pressing fear of, "You don't know what?" But you function anyway, and you laugh, and you carry on, you go to work, and you hug people, and you answer the phone, and go right on with it. I don't know where this is going. I don't know what God is going to do with all this, but I have what I call my anxiety checklist. So when I wake up and I feel it, and I feel enclosed and I'm squeezed and lonely and anxious, I ask myself, "Is God still on the throne?" The answer is yes. "Is Jesus alive?" Yes, He is. "Am I saved?" Oh, yes. This has nothing to do with my salvation. I confess Jesus Christ is Lord, His precious blood washed away my sins, and I have received eternal life. Yes, I'm saved. Is the Bible true? Oh, yes. Is God faithful? Yes. Oh, yes, He's faithful. Just because something hasn't yet happened to me or for me does not mean that God is not faithful. I was sitting in my study, and
I was perusing and pondering these things, perusing the Scripture and pondering these things, and I came across this verse in Romans chapter 2, verse 7, just let me read it to you. God, who will render to each one according to His deeds, eternal life to those who, please listen, who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality. Now I don't know what happened. That struck me. I've read that many times, but I saw it this time, by patient continuance. Just keep on. Patiently keep on. And lo and behold, I flipped over just a few more chapters in Romans, and this is what I read there. For whatever things were written before, were written for our learning that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. And suddenly, I see the word patient or patience about everywhere I'm looking. I'm reading here that I'm supposed to patiently endure and keep on. I'm reading here that through patience, I let the Scriptures comfort me. And then I read this in Habakkuk. Habakkuk was upset with God, and he said, "God, why don't you help me? My family's in trouble. My nation is in trouble. I'm in trouble. Why don't you help me?" And then Habakkuk said, "I stood back as if he said, and I crossed my arms, and I'm going to wait on an answer." And here's what he said. [BLANK_AUDIO] how he will answer my complaint. I'm waiting, God, and God answered. Then the Lord answered me and said, "Write the vision. You want to hear something from heaven? Write it down." It's another way of saying, "Take it to the bank. Make it plain on tablets. Write down what I'm telling you that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it will speak and it will not lie. Though it carries, wait for it, because it will surely come, it will not tear. God is saying to a frustrated man, a man whose life is all to pieces, "You want an answer from me? I'll give it to you. Wait patiently. There is an appointed time. I made you a promise. I don't break promises. I made a covenant. I keep my covenants. Don't look at the circumstances. Don't try to figure out what I'm doing. Just trust my word. Write it down. Stand on it, because what I promise will come at an appointed time. And though it seems like a long time, just wait, wait patiently, because it will surely come." And then I turned over to the first chapter of Revelation, and I hear John saying this, "I, John, your fellow companion, listen to these words in the tribulation and kingdom, and patience of Jesus Christ was on the aisle called Patmos." There it is again. I'm in tribulation, but I'm also waiting patiently.
I am your fellow laborer. I am your brother in this thing, and I'm telling you the kingdom has tribulation, and we suffer it, but we must be patient. Then I turned over two more chapters to Revelation chapter 3, verse 10, and I noticed that the Lord said to the church at Philadelphia, because you have patiently kept my word. I will also keep you from the hour of testing that's coming upon the entire world. I will save you from it, and all of a sudden something just grabbed me. It was this, wait patiently on God's word. It cannot fail. He cannot lie. If he said it, it will come to pass. What we want is immediate answers. God said, "I'm not even going to play that game. I do things in my time. I am sovereign over the universe. I do it when it's best for my glory and your good." And Jesus said one time to the Pharisees, listen to these words, the Scripture cannot be broken. The Scriptures cannot be annulled. If it is in the Word, it is forever settled in the heavens. He has exalted his Word even above his name. Do you hear that? What God spoke and what God has written is forever settled in the heavens. It will never be erased. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. And my word is so powerful and so dependable that I have exalted my Word even above my name. Wow. And that same Scripture that tells me God's Word is forever and true and faithful says specifically that God cannot lie. You see, that's what the devil wants you to think. He's always In fact, when I suffer anxiety and you suffer depression and you suffer loneliness and you feel a spellbound with a situation and you are weak because of the medication you have to take for cancer treatments and your life is not what it used to be that's an attack from Satan not against you but against the integrity of God. He's trying to get you to doubt God's word. Satan will beat the daylights out of you if he can just get you to doubt God for one moment. So the child of God has to put on the armor of God and stand on the word of God
and say, Satan, you can buffet me all you want to but when I am weak then I am strong. Satan, you can try everything in your basket but I glory in tribulations knowing that the power of Christ rests upon me when I refuse to doubt and I refuse to disbelieve God I stand on the promises of God all the promises of God are yes and amen in Jesus Christ. That's right, you all appraise in this manner. (audience applauding) Titus said, God cannot lie. Hebrews six and eight says it is impossible for God to lie. Everything here is true and it doesn't matter about my circumstances and how my situation relates to scripture this is what will come to pass right here but I'm gonna tell you something. Every prayer you've ever prayed, God heard it. Wait a minute, every prayer you've ever prayed is in a bowl in heaven. Did you hear me? We pray a lot. I've learned the older I get how to pray without ceasing. I pray, I groan, I sigh, sometimes I sing, sometimes I cry but I'm praying and God honors all that and God says every prayer that has ever been prayed.
I store in a bowl. In fact, he said one of the angels who has a bowl of incense, this is in Revelation. This incense is the prayers of the saints. Hold on a minute. Not prayers from people in heaven, that's over. Prayer is for earth. Praise is for heaven. Prayer is for earth. So we pray and every time we pray, God stores our prayers in a bowl and the incense rises up into his nostrils. So I wanna tell somebody today if it feels like the heavens are made of lead, if the word of God seems to have no meaning. If your emotions are dead, please let me be repetitive. If you feel anxious, if you feel lonely, if you're dead, tired, if you're weary, if you feel like God has turned his back on you. Hear the preacher today, he has not, he will not, he knows where you are, he knows what you feel. He was there before you were, he overcame it before you did and God will be glorified through this thing in your life. (congregation applauding) I tell you, he cannot fail. Yesterday I had a wonderful time with the Lord. That may sound odd to you, but every time I get with God it's different. I'm always amazed.
And yesterday for some reason as I was looking at all these scriptures on the yes and amen of God, the Lord directed me to this one in Joshua, Joshua 23, Joshua took Israel into the promised land. Joshua was a great commander, a great general, a great conqueror. He was faithful. He did everything God told him to do. This verse touches my heart because now he's giving his final address to the people he's been leading. Behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth. You know what he just said? I'm going to die today. My mission is accomplished. It's over. And you know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one thing has failed of all the good things which the Lord your God spoke concerning you. All have come to pass for you. Not one word of them has failed. Why does that touch me? Because Joshua was saying, when you didn't know it, God was taken care of you. When you couldn't see him, God was right in front of you. When you couldn't feed yourself, God fed you. When you were thirsty, God quits your thirst. When you were blindsided by the enemy, God's spirit rose up and defended you. You don't even know how good God's been to you.
You can't even see the end of God's blessings. But everything he said he would do, he has done it. Some of these precious words here out of Isaiah. No weapon. Take a deep breath. No weapon formed against you shall prosper. Nothing the devil can create, invent. Nothing, no attack, nothing will ever prosper. He can cause people to rise up against you. He can try to attack your body. He can attack your family. But it won't work in the end. I'm reading from God's Word, and the Word cannot be broken. The Scripture cannot be annulled, no weapon formed against you shall prosper. And every tongue which rises up against you in judgment, you shall condemn. You're going to have the last word. I just made myself happy right there. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord. This is a promise from God to us. This is what we are going to inherit. And their righteousness is from me. I gave them. I give you. He said, my righteousness, you are my possession. Even if people rise up against you, I don't listen to their condemnation or their accusations. If I don't listen to the devils, I'm certainly not going to listen to your neighbors.
And just be reminded one more time, whatever Satan tries to bring against you will not prosper. [APPLAUSE] For as the rain comes down from heaven and snow and do not return there but water the earth and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater. So shall my word. You got it? So shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth. Hallelujah. It shall not return to me void. It shall accomplish what I please. And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. See, God's taking care of his own word. God is fulfilling his own word. We sometimes feel like, oh, this is all in my hand. It's my fault that I didn't get a prayer answered. This is all because I haven't lived right, haven't done right. God says, this is my business. This is my word. to me empty. When I speak it, something always happens. Brother, you are full of that word this very morning. If you're in Christ, you're full of the Word of God and God will accomplish through you as weak as you are, as anxious as you are, as lonely as you might be, God will accomplish His glory through you because it is not by might or by power. It is by my spirit, says the Lord, and His Word is true. So there it is again. Put it back on the screen as quickly as you can whoever's running it this morning. For all say it, for all of God in Him are yes, and in Him a men to the glory through us. Let me ask you a question. Has God promised to finish what He started? That's not good enough. Has God promised to finish what He started? And what do you say to that?
Did God promise to supply all your needs? What do you say to that? Did God say, if you call on me, I'll save you. What do you say to that? Did He say He would save your household too? What do you say to that? Did God say He would protect you from the evil one? What do you say to that? Has His blood cleansed you from all unrighteousness? What does a church say to that? Does Satan have any authority over you? What do you say to that? Is God true when He says, "If I go away, I will come again." What do you say to that? Did He say, "I will never leave you or forsake you, but I will be with you always to the end of the age." What do you say to that church? Hallelujah. [Applause] About 230. About 230 yesterday. I was on this campus walking and praying. The Holy Spirit spoke to me. He does a lot. But He spoke to me and said, "I've given you this word for people, my people tomorrow. And after you give them this word, I want you to pray for them that this word would settle deeply in them." And that without question they could boldly say, "Yes, and amen." So I'm going to ask all of our counsel and their wives to come up front, please. You can come now. And we're going to pray for those people who are anxious. For those people who are suffering from anxiety, fear has tried to invade your life. Doubt is knowing at you. You're lonely. And you just feel left out if that's you. We have a lot of time, don't worry about it, come right ahead. [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC]
